It’s an exciting time at Disney Springs, as more new additions are being added in the coming days and throughout the summer. Today, I’m happy to share that another high-profile brand will join the world-class retail lineup in Town Center: Levi’s. Opening later this summer, the Levi’s Store will offer denim for the entire family – yes, kids can get jeans here, too! And for anyone who wants to have their clothing tailored, the Tailor Shop at the front of the store will allow shoppers to get their favorite shorts, T-shirts, truckers and accessories personalized by a team of craftsmen. (This offering is exclusive to just a handful of Levi’s locations worldwide, so I’m extra excited that it’s coming to Disney Springs!) Don’t want to wait for more new shopping? You don’t have to. Opening soon in Town Center are Superdry, Sugarboo & Co., Shore, Columbia Sportswear and Coca-Cola Store Orlando, all joining the most recent additions that include LACOSTE, Free People and JOHNNY WAS. Superdry, a cool British brand, offers high-quality wardrobe staples like jackets, knits, leather goods and leisurewear at affordable prices. Sugarboo & Co., “dealer in whimsy” and carrying “fine quality art and fanciful goods” – which roughly translates to “uplifting art, whimsical paper products and charming home goods that I want to decorate my condo with.” (At least I think that’s what it means.) Shore, known for its made-in-America apparel and eclectic branded lifestyle merchandise mix, is opening its second-ever store – the first is based in Sarasota, FL – with plans to offer some limited-edition products available only at Disney Springs. Columbia Sportswear, a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts, features rugged and stylish apparel, footwear and equipment that’s “tested tough.” Coca-Cola Store Orlando, a completely immersive retail destination, allows guest to experience the world most iconic beverage brand in a building modeled after a 1920s bottling plant. (As a native of Atlanta, GA, this is where I’ll be buying my Coca-Cola merchandise and savoring Coke-based adult beverages from the rooftop beverage bar. I can’t wait.) Of course, all of this shopping requires fuel, so if you want to try the newest restaurant, you’ll be thrilled to learn that Frontera Cocina by celebrity chef Rick Bayless is now open. I had the chance to try it over the weekend, and given my love of Mexican food, I was in my element. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for more info on this incredible food and beverage destination, and when you do visit, try the Verde Guacamole (trust me on this!). I hope to see you soon at Disney Springs – with summer sales happening now, this week is the perfect time to visit. What’s at the top of your summer shopping list? View the full article

Are you new to Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning? Then our “Welcome to Our World!” series may be just what you’re looking for. Each week different Disney Parks Blog authors will be sharing introductory blog posts on certain aspects of vacation planning or spotlight an event that you may want to consider adding to your upcoming trip. This week, we’re taking a look at the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. The Candlelight Processional is one of the most anticipated holiday offerings that many Walt Disney World Resort guests look forward to – and return for again and again – each year. The show takes place at the America Gardens Theatre at Epcot and features a celebrity narrator retelling the traditional Christmas story, as well as live music from a 50-piece orchestra and mass choir. Each year the list of celebrity narrators varies and is usually announced during summer, with more narrators added as the season gets close. The live music in the show is delightful, with the show featuring both recognizable Christmas carols and a handful of international holiday songs. The show is included in Epcot admission and takes place three times nightly, usually running from late November to late December (this year’s dates are November 25 – December 30, 2016). Because the Candlelight Processional is so popular, many guests choose to book a dining package which includes a meal at a restaurant and priority seating at one performance of the show. Guests who want to attend the show only can do so by joining the standby line, however due to the popularity of the show, very early arrival is recommended. For the latest on Walt Disney World Resort holiday offerings at all of our parks, visit the official holiday page here. View the full article

There’s no shortage of new stuff popping up in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion these days! Learn About: Kringla Bakeri og Kafe Epcot Restaurants Disney World Restaurants The main additions, of course, are the Pavilion’s new ride — Frozen Ever After — and Anna and Elsa’s new meet and greet spot, Royal Sommerhus. These new attractions have brought about another change to the Pavilion: it now opens at 9:00 am (the majority of Epcot’s World Showcase opens at 11:00 am daily). That means the Pavilion’s Counter Service option, Kringla Bakeri og Kafe, is open for the earlier morning hours, too. With more traffic in Norway (and we ain’t kiddin’ around — check out the lines from opening day for Frozen Ever After!), the bakery case in Kringla has seen some additions of its own. We thought we’d show you a few today. Kringla Bakeri og Kafe Now, there are a few more breakfast-appropriate items that are available for the earlier morning hours, like the Jarlsberg and Onion Biscuit served with bacon, and an Egg and Leek Pastry. But since we had to tackle this… Wait Time for Frozen Ever After on Opening Day … we missed ‘em. No worries; we’ll be back one of these days . Plus, there is still plenty of new stuff to see! Among Kringla’s staples like Rice Cream, School Bread, and the Traditional Kjottkake (Norwegian meatballs), you’ll now find new items that include a few entrees such as a Norwegian Charcuterie plate, a Norwegian Chef Salad, and the Fisherman’s Tasting Box. Norwegian Charcuterie Norwegian Chef Salad Fisherman’s Tasting Box And there are even more sweet treats to enjoy at Kringla now, including a new Cinnamon Loaf, a quartet of Frozen Mini Cupcakes, and a little something called a Snow Globe. Cinnamon Loaf Frozen Mini Cupcakes Snow Globe I couldn’t resist tucking right in to the Cinnamon Loaf (which you can have topped with those candied pecans you see at no extra cost). Cinnamon Loaf And thank goodness I did because this thing ROCKS. Cinnamon Loaf The portion was huge and, as a bonus, it can be served warm. Candied Pecans! Yep, that is actual cinnamon gooeyness dripping out of the center. I will happily pick up this one again. Cinnamon Loaf Cross Section The Fisherman’s Tasting Box consists of a bunch of goodies in convenient packaging: there are different seafoods (salmon, mackerel, and shrimp) served along with hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes, and Melba toast along with a few other garnishes. Fisherman’s Tasting Box The mackerel was nicely seasoned without being overly salty, and the shrimp were flavorful and juicy. Mackerel Shrimp, Pickels and Egg But my favorite had to be the salmon. Salmon I went ahead and paired the salmon with the dill cream sauce and the white melba toast which ended up being a really nice combo. Dill Cream Sauce White Melba Toast In all, I felt like I had a nice amount of food without feeling too weighed down afterwards. This is a great sampler for a hot day. The Frozen Mini Cupcakes are sold in a set of four (you get all four for $7.49). Frozen Mini Cupcakes Starting at the top left coming from the box is a chocolate cupcake topped with strawberry icing. Strawberry Mini Cupcake Strawberry Mini Cupcake Cross Section Topping the strawberry icing are shimmery chocolate pearls. Strawberry Mini Cupcake Icing Up next is a vanilla cupcake with blue and white buttercream icing. Vanilla Mini Cupcake Vanilla Mini Cupcake Cross Section Pretty basic, but I liked the cute snowflakes sprinkles on top to go along with the whole Frozen theme. Vanilla Mini Cupcake Icing Upping the ante, though, is the Troll cupcake! It’s chocolate cake topped with cookies and cream icing. Cookies and Cream Mini Cupcake Cookies and Cream Mini Cupcake Cross Section And what Frozen cupcake quartet would be complete without an Olaf? Like the snowflake cupcake, it’s vanilla topped with buttercream. Olaf Vanilla Mini Cupcake Olaf Vanilla Mini Cupcake Is it just me, though, or do the chocolate details on my Olaf make him look a little moody ? Olaf Vanilla Mini Cupcake Icing Oh, well… I still love the guy, and I’m sure that was just my cupcake . I definitely think this batch is a terrific idea for a group, offering everyone a chance to have a bite of something sweet without putting the whole group on sugar overload! A family or group traveling with a few Frozen fans can’t really go wrong with this one. Finally, we had to check out the Snow Globe. Snow Globe Sitting on top of a brownie-like chocolate cake is a vanilla flavored custard, which is then covered in cream. It’s served chilled, so it doesn’t melt too quickly and gives it a refreshing quality. Snow Globe Closeup It may not seem so large from the picture but this is a LOT of dessert! The center custard is thick and suuuuuuper sweet. Snow Globe Cross Section The one in the display case really didn’t do this treat justice. What I received was much prettier and more artistic with its beautiful blue hard sugar-candy topper and light blue icing. Blue Hard Candy Topper You’d almost think Elsa herself had a hand in it! Heck, she’s living right next door at Royal Sommerhus now, so you never do know… Well, we were definitely anticipating some additions to Kringla Bakeri, and we got ‘em! I have to say, while it makes total sense that some of the new items are cute, Frozen-themed things to celebrate the new arrivals in the Pavilion, it’s also nice to see that a majority of the additions are based on Norwegian dishes and flavors, staying true to the heart and purpose of the cuisine at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe. Will you be stopping by Norway to try any of the new additions? Let us know in the comments below! Disney Food Blog Fans, be sure to check out our DFB Disney World Dining Guide e-Books! It’s incredible to think that half way around the world a new member of the Disney Parks family is welcoming its first official guests. Shanghai Disneyland Resort is open! I feel a special connection to this park. I am Chinese by ancestry and I’ve always dreamed of seeing the land of my heritage. Well, dreams do come true … I got to visit China a couple summers ago. It is an amazing and intricate place with centuries of history standing next to the most modern of structures. Can you picture the wonder and excitement of walking into a brand new Disney park? Riding the newest of new attractions? Being the first to find all of the hidden Mickey’s?! Our designer, Brittany Ungvarsky, has tried to capture that wonder in this new wallpaper commemorating this auspicious opening. A combination of Disney magic and ancient Chinese culture. Xièxiè! (Thank you!) Be sure to check out the terms of use about using the wallpaper before you download it. Want to check out other designs? Visit our complete gallery of wallpapers here. Earlier this month, people around the globe recognized World Sea Turtle Day, and I would venture to guess that the most famous of sea turtles – if you’re a Disney fan – is Crush, the turtle with a laid-back surfer attitude who appeared in “Finding Nemo” and returns in “Finding Dory.” Sea turtles in the wild might not be quite as chilled-out as Crush, as their lives are becoming more and more challenging. After inhabiting the Earth for millions of years, sea turtles have become endangered only the last 100 years or so. This is one of the reasons the Disney Conservation Fund and Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment have joined the Archie Carr Center for Sea Turtle Research at the University of Florida to “Reverse the Decline” of these magnificent animals. Only one in about 1,000 sea turtle hatchlings reach adulthood. During their rush to the ocean, sea turtle hatchlings face many challenges, including predators like birds, raccoons and crabs. Sand castles, beach furniture and litter can block their path to the ocean, and lights from buildings can lead them off course. And that’s just minutes after they’ve hatched! If they’re lucky, and our efforts are successful, sea turtles will enjoy long, happy lives. By conducting research on the shores at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort each year, our Disney conservation team is learning more about the habits of these turtles. Through the Disney Conservation Fund’s support for the “Reverse the Decline” initiative, we are also helping nonprofit organizations increase public awareness, develop conservation strategies, monitor populations, and restore marine habitat and beach-nesting areas. You can help, too, by taking action: When you choose sustainable-seafood options, you support fishing practices that are safer for sea turtles and that encourage positive change to fishery practices. If you live or vacation near a beach, make sure your lights don’t shine on the beach. Trash at sea is very harmful to sea turtles. Young sea turtles commonly mistake bits of plastic as their food. Plastic bags are especially harmful because they are similar in form and color to a favorite sea turtle food—jellyfish. Ropes, lines and other synthetic debris can entangle sea turtles, causing severe injuries. Even if you don’t live near a waterway, understand that all storm drains lead to one, so you can help protect sea turtles no matter where you live by putting trash in its proper place. Recycle! When you recycle, your trash will have a second life, which means fewer resources are used to make new products. You can also reduce waste by choosing reusable items instead of disposable items. Ding! Ding! All aboard for this “Every Role a Starring Role” featuring Travis Dean, a Red Car Trolley conductor at Disney California Adventure park. For four years now, the Red Car Trolleys have taken guests on a scenic ride from Buena Vista Street to Hollywood Land, inspired by the historic Pacific Electric Railway. Travis’ responsibilities include initiating a trolley’s movement, switching the cabling of a trolley to change directions and providing detailed information to guests about the sights and sounds of the surrounding area. Travis also communicates with cast members aboard the other trolley. In this video, Travis tells us more about his role and these retro and leisurely trolleys, similar to the ones Roy and Walt Disney may have experienced when they first arrived in Los Angeles! As summertime returns, I’m continuing my series of articles about stylish accessories found at Disney Parks. Living in Florida since 1998, I’ve learned that a hat is an essential summer item. The great news is there are many choices available! Here is a look at some of my favorite designs you may see during your next visit to Disney Parks. The headware team at Disney Parks Merchandise told me we have hundreds of hats available (the Shop Disney Parks app currently lists more than 580 caps, headbands or ear hats). One of the best places to find those many options is the newly expanded World of Disney in Disney Springs Marketplace. The team wasn’t kidding as I found many hats for women, men and kids while wandering throughout the entire shop. Some of my favorite hats are from the recent Twenty Eight & Main men’s collection, which give nods to classic Disney Parks attractions like Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride or 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. While I spotted many baseball caps, I also found a handful of visors. For those guests who love anything from a galaxy far, far away, we have several Star Wars-themed hats. Look for hats inspired by characters such as Boba Fett, R2-D2 and others. For younger guests, we have Disney character hats featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. After visiting World of Disney, I stopped by Tren-D in Disney Springs Marketplace where I found several stylish options for women. Finally, I made my way over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to enjoy a sunset ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris. The nearby Mombasa Marketplace had a variety of sunhats and safari hats available. I located the perfect one for my African adventure! Look for these hats and more in select locations at Disney Parks. You may also find a selection of hats on our Disney Parks online store or an even larger selection available on the Shop Disney Parks mobile app. I’d love to see your summertime Disney Parks style. As part of my monthly World Showcase shopping series, I recently visited a pavilion that’s dear to my heart – The American Adventure. For most of 2003, I served as an attraction manager at the pavilion, which has one of the best shows in all of Walt Disney World Resort. During my visit, I stopped by Heritage Manor Gifts to see the newest patriotic goods. Heritage Manor Gifts opened at The American Adventure in 1985. You can see the original pavilion prior to the shop opening in this Disney Park Blog article. Today, the location is home to a variety of gifts in shades of red, white and blue. There is also a cart along World Showcase promenade that offers a handful of products including Disney pins. Inside the shop, I found apparel and accessories for adults including shirts, tote bags and jewelry. I love the necklaces and earrings that use one-cent coins in the designs. Guests may also find a copy of “The Kinsey Collection: Shared Treasures of Bernard and Shirley Kinsey – Where Art and History Intersect,” a 198-page book telling the story of the African American experience from 1632-present. The book is the perfect complement to the exhibit of rare art, unique artifacts, and documents currently found in the American Heritage Gallery, “Re-Discovering America: Family Treasures from the Kinsey Collection.” One of my favorite items in the shop is a woven tapestry with Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck. The artwork is reminiscent of America on Parade, the special American Bicentennial parade held at Disney Parks from 1975 to 1976. You may be able to order select items from this shop using the free Shop Disney Parks mobile app. To download, please visit DisneyWorld.com/Shop. Here are images of additional items I found including popular Tervis tumblers, magnets, Alex & Ani bracelets and more. View the full article

It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for… if you LOVE grabbing lots and lots of POPCORN at Disney World, that is! Refillable Popcorn Bucket at Epcot A Refillable Popcorn Bucket is now available at Disney World parks! As for the main four parks, each has its own themed popcorn bucket like the one from Epcot you see above. However, Cast Members at Popcorn Stands at different parks should have access to a printout showing what each park’s bucket looks like so they know it’s one of the refill buckets. This allows guests to purchase a bucket at Epcot, for instance, then hop on over to, say, Animal Kingdom and get refills for $1.50 a POP at any location that sells hot and freshly popped popcorn. Future World Popcorn Stand Menu There are some conflicting reports, though, about the full scoop regarding the availability of refills. The Cast Member we spoke with said that refills were available at any park at any time for as long as the refill price exists on the menu. However, a follower on the DFB Instagram page commented that there was a sign at Magic Kingdom popcorn carts stating that the refills are available for same day of purchase only. We’ll keep you posted here as we find out more! Closeup on Menu The Cast Member we spoke with also said there was currently no expiration date for the refill price, but rumor has it that the Refillable Popcorn Program will only be available through September 1st. So get poppin’ — umm, I mean hoppin’ — to a Disney World Popcorn Cart as soon as you can to grab yours! Will you be purchasing a Refillable Popcorn Bucket this summer? CELEBRATION, Fla. – This holiday season, give a gift that’s both nautical and nice: a cruise on the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy, all decked out with holiday cheer. Starting early November, Disney Cruise Line adds sparkle to each ship during Very Merrytime Cruises, with traditional “turkey day” fanfare, Christmas feasts, “snow flurries” and New Year’s Eve galas. But the best part might just be relaxing on deck instead of shoveling snow. During these voyages through the new year, special stem-to-stern holiday events include: “Mickey’s Tree-Lighting Magic” in the atrium lobby on the first night of the cruise, where Disney characters lead holiday carols and the lighting of the glittering, three-deck-tall tree. “Santa’s Winter Wonderland Ball” in the atrium lobby, where Disney cruisers welcome the guests of honor, Santa and Mrs. Claus, with a grand celebration featuring Broadway-style entertainment, favorite Disney characters and classic holiday tunes. This evening of enchantment is made complete when a special pair of royal sisters joins the party and causes a flurry of “frozen” fun as a magical snowfall overtakes the atrium. Dickens-inspired carolers carrying the spirit of the holidays throughout the ship while singing holiday classics, sometimes with the help of favorite Disney friends. At the end of the cruise, children will have the opportunity to join the carolers onstage for a special farewell show. Family holiday activities including building gingerbread houses and meeting Santa Claus. Youth holiday crafts such as decorating stockings and gingerbread men cookies, making holiday cards and creating holiday animation cells. “Deck the Deck Holiday Party,” a tropical celebration with Disney friends leading games such as hula hooping and limbo under oversized candy canes, along with dances for the whole family like the “Yuletide Slide” and a conga line around the pool. A special holiday edition of the cheerful farewell celebration on the final night of the cruise, with beloved Disney characters and the ship’s crew in an engaging musical finale led by Mickey Mouse. On Thanksgiving Day, guests will enjoy a bountiful Thanksgiving Day feast and visits from Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse dressed in traditional Thanksgiving attire. Also during the special Thanksgiving voyages, NFL football games will be broadcast live on the ships’ outdoor, jumbo LED screens – Funnel Vision – located near the family pool. Christmas morning at the atrium lobby tree Santa Claus and his helpers will have a surprise for all the kids, and guests will delight in a special musical performance from the children. A traditional Christmas Dinner will be served that night in the dining rooms. Christmas services will be held on Christmas Day with a midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Hanukkah services will be held each day, Dec. 24 to Jan. 1. When the ships stop at Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, during the holidays, the celebration continues with “snow flurries,” a decked-out Christmas tree, Disney character meet-and-greets and holiday island music. For an extra sprinkle of holiday joy, special amenities are available for stateroom delivery. Purchased in advance of sailing, these include holiday-themed gift packages and treat baskets and even mini Christmas trees decorated with ornaments, red berries, mini carnations and a bow topper. Plus, during the holiday cruises, the Disney Cruise Line holiday merchandise collection and ever-popular Disney Cruise Line ornaments will be available in the gift shops. To ring in 2017, voyages during the holiday include a special New Year’s Eve party, complete with music, sparkling wine in commemorative flutes and a midnight countdown. To celebrate the holidays, the Disney Magic sails four- and five- night Bahamian cruises, five-, six- and seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises, and seven-night Western Caribbean cruises departing Nov. 5 to Dec. 23; the Disney Wonder sails four- and seven-night Western Caribbean cruises, and seven-night Bahamian cruises departing from Nov. 10 to Dec. 23; the Disney Dream sails three- and four-night Bahamian cruises departing from Nov. 7 to Dec. 22; and the Disney Fantasy sails seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises departing from Nov. 19 to Dec. 24.
