  2. In April, we celebrated the official groundbreaking of Star Wars-themed lands coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, and beginning today, Disneyland park guests can get a glimpse of this exciting and immersive experience. A new image has been unveiled on the fence along Big Thunder Trail in Frontierland – one of the entry points to this never-before-seen planet in the Star Wars galaxy – revealing more about what guests will find in this all-new land. Nestled between towering spires of rock, this thriving port contains a seemingly familiar architecture of markets, landing zones and buildings. Click here for a larger version of the image above. Look closely and you may find hints of some of the thrilling experiences that are coming – like the Millennium Falcon peeking out of one of the cargo bays, marking the location where guests will get the opportunity to pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. The 14-acre land will be the largest-ever single-themed land expansion at Disneyland Resort. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog – we’ll continue to bring you updates as we learn more about this planet, as well as the citizens, aliens and droids who populate it. View the full article

  5. Husband and wife Kevin Massey and Kara Lindsay are the latest Broadway stars to sail the high seas with us this summer. The couple delivered a spellbinding performance for Disney Magic cruisers during our 12-night Iceland and Norway cruise from Dover, England to Copenhagen. Kevin is known for his leading role in “Tarzan” on Broadway, and Kara currently stars as Glinda the Good Witch in “Wicked” on Broadway. She formerly played Katherine in “Newsies.” Together they performed in the Walt Disney Theatre aboard the Disney Magic, singing fun duets such as “Love is an Open Door” from “Frozen” and “We Belong Together” from “Toy Story 3.” The dynamic duo joined the list of Broadway performers entertaining Disney cruisers this summer as part of our Stars Set Sail live concert series presented by Disney Theatrical Productions. Stay tuned to read about other stars, and check out some who’ve sailed with us recently: Alton Fitzgerald White on the Disney Magic Mandy Gonzalez on the Disney Magic Susan Egan on the Disney Magic View the full article

  7. In “Beauty & The Beast,” Belle relies on her trusty steed Philippe to get her to Beast’s Castle to warn the Beast of Gaston’s evil plan. In this week’s Disney Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what Belle and her father Maurice would do if they had the chance to visit Walt Disney World Resort. There’s no doubt that testing out the equine residents of Tri-Circle-D Ranch here at Walt Disney World Resort would be high on their list. (Although their ride looks much more calm and enjoyable!). 12. Today, we have a big treat for you! You know that we love to talk about the Epcot Food and Wine Festival here at DFB. It’s like the Super Bowl and Olympics and Christmas all rolled into one! Party for the Senses Sign And while there’s tons to do and see and eat throughout the event, some of the most highly anticipated premium events are the Parties for the Senses. (See the review of our last time attending the event here.) In 2016, you can choose from parties held on October 1, 8, 15, 22, 28, and 29, featuring different themes. Read all about it on our Special Events Page! We booked tickets to the Part for the Senses last year, and today we’re sharing all of the beautiful entertainment and eats with you. There’s a ton to see, so we should get right to it. Hopefully these pictures will help you to determine whether or not the Party interests you. Remember that booking opens July 21st! Atmosphere and Entertainment Party for the Senses takes place in the World ShowPlace Pavilion at Epcot. You’ll find it between the Canada and UK Pavilions in World Showcase. Walkway Leading to the World ShowPlace for Party for the Senses As many of you know, Disney now takes a tiered approach to many events as they offer premium upgrades to the general admission ticket. Party for the Senses is no exception. You can choose from three different levels. General Admission gets you into the front door for the 2 1/2 hour party. While you enjoy all of the food and drink as part of the ticket price, there is limited seating at this level. The cool thing about General Admission is that they do allow you to wait out in this area until the curtains are drawn back, and you can enter. As you check in, you receive your wine glass and plate. Hold onto them! They’ll come in handy all evening. General Seating Guests Awaiting Entrance The Setup Reserved Seating is one step up, and includes seating at a reserved table on the main floor, early entrance into the event, and specialty cocktail toast. Curtains Open! The Curtains Open to Let Guests In If it’s an ultra-premium experience that you’re looking for, you’ll want to choose the Wine View Lounge, which includes a private reserved table, early entrance into the event, a specialty cocktail toast, access to a premium bar and artisanal cheese station, and more. Wine View Lounge and Stage Wine View Lounge Artisanal Cheese Station While you enjoy those other perks, it may also be worth it to you to have the extra close proximity to the stage when the entertainment begins. Wine View Lounge from the Stage Wine View Lounge And speaking of…that part of things has always involved performers from Cirque de Soleil’s La Nouba, which calls Disney Springs home. A La Nouba Gymnast Performing In 2016, we understand that the entertainment will be all new. We can’t wait to see what they offer! The Vocalist and Band Perform as the Entertainment Get Underway The Cirque de Soleil show offered a glimpse into what a performance by the internationally acclaimed circus is like. We have always loved that the show features live music! And Party for the Senses is no exception. While the musicians sang and played, Gymnasts, Acrobats, and other artist took to the stage — and the air above it! Gymnast Performing Acrobats Truly, the entertainment is world class. It’s a big part of what makes the experience so special. The Finale — Acrobats on the Wall The experience was wonderful. But it made us hungry. And thirsty. Time to hit the Tasting Stations! Eats and Drinks Similar to other events, like the Rockin’ Burger Block Party, Party for the Senses features Tasting Stations. That means that you’ll mill around the room, trying all of the dishes that are on offer. Servers are on hand to take away plates and glasses as needed. Each of the stations is also paired with a beverage. You’ll find electronic signs with the particulars at each station, so you’ll always know just what it is that you’re about to try. Note that beverages and food items will change at each event. Each party features different beverage vendors and chefs. Also, remember that all food and beverages are included in the price of your ticket, so it’s all-you-can-eat/drink at the event. LED Sign for a Tasting Table and Corresponding Pairings Let’s take a peek at a few of the beverages and dishes on offer. Adult Beverages flow in abundance. The evening we visited, beer lovers were treated to a full menu of Goose Island offerings. Goose Island Tasting Table Guests could choose from Honkers Ale, Goose IPA, or Urban Wheat Ale. Or actually, they could have all three. Goose Island Honkers Ale Goose Island Goose IPA Goose Island Urban Wheat Ale There was also no shortage of Wine on offer. “Alcohol by Volume” poured Aviary Chardonnay, Bread & Butter Pinot Noir, and Le Mistral Single Vineyard Red. Alcohol by Volume Wine Service San Sebastian from St. Augustine offered their Vintners Red and Port Ruby. San Sebastian Winery Bodega Norton Winery shared Privada, Malbec, and Chardonnay. Bodega Norton Winery Bodega Norton Chardonnay Pascual Toso Winery from Argentina shared some bold reds, including Reserve Malbec, Alta Reserve Malbec, and Alta Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Pascual Toso Winery Lakeridge Winery, another Florida offering, came with their Sunblush and Southern White blends. Lakeridge Winery Wines Wilson Daniels poured Ponzi Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Domaine Laroche Chablis Saint Martin. Wilson Daniels And finally, Neil Empson shared selections from Italy, including Canella Bellini, Bongiovanni Arneis Lange, and Zabu Nero d’Avola. Neil Empson Italian Wines There were also a few cocktails and liquor offerings. Mixologist Gustavo Ortega crafted different drinks to complement dishes: he offered a Tamarind Margarita as well as Mayan God Mezcal and Ambhar Tequila. Mixologist Gustavo Ortega Because one of the tasting stations was sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, we also had a chance to try Ron Barcelo Dominican Rum. Ron Barcelo Dominican Rum As I mentioned earlier, the dine around portion of the evening means that you visit the tasting stations. My advice? Scope it out, be adventurous, try everything, and go back for seconds of your favorites! The tasting stations will each feature a particular Chef or restaurant, so you may find a few favorites at your event. Bob Waggoner Cooking Station Richard Capizzi Cooking Station Offerings the evening that we attended included dishes from restaurants throughout Walt Disney World as well as from visiting chefs who had conducted Culinary Demos at the Food and Wine Festival throughout the previous week. Chef Samad Benzari and his staff from the Morocco Pavilion were on hand with a dish. At first, he was feeling a little camera shy… Chef Samad: No Pictures, Please But we won him over with our charm in the end. Yeah. Just Kidding. Want to get up close and personal with a few of the dishes? Meee toooo! Chef Jeff Moore and his staff from ‘Ohana were up first. Chef Jeff Moore, ‘Ohana, Cooking Station Here, the small plate featured Roasted Sake Miso Duck Breast with Furikake Rice, Beet and Carrots Salad and Ginger Soy Sauce. Roasted Sake Miso Duck Breast with Furikake Rice, Beet and Carrots Salad and Ginger Soy Sauce Next, we enjoyed a dish by Chef Pascal Oudin of Brasserie Central in Coral Gables, Florida. Pascal Oudin, Brasserie Central, Cooking Station The chef and his staff treated us to Atlantic Cod with Brandade de Morue. Atlantic Cod with Brandade de Morue We then visited a table by Chef Axel Martinez from Cinderella’s Royal Table. Axel Martinez, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Cooking Station The dish here was a savory and filling vegetarian option — Gardein Beefless Tortelloni and Parsnip Puree. And they were making the Tortelloni right there! Now that’s fresh! Preparing the Tortelloni Right There! Gardein Beefless Tortelloni Gardein Beefless Tortelloni and Parsnip Puree Next up, we checked out what Chef Clay Conley of Buccan in Palm Beach, Florida was offering. Chef Clay Conley Cooking Station The dish was a Salmon Lomo Saltado, featuring Verlasso Sustainably Farm Raised Salmon. Salmon “Lomo Saltado” Salmon “Lomo Saltado” Tuscan Short Ribs with Polenta were available at the table by Chef Jonathan Benno of Lincoln Ristorante, in New York. Tuscan Short Ribs with Polenta Chef Ana Lebron drew upon island specialties as she represented the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic with her Guinea Drunk on Soft Chenchen Scented of Coconut with Black Beans and Tomato Foam with Coriander. Guinea Drunk on Soft Chenchen Scented of Coconut with Black Beans and Tomato Foam with Coriander Another vegetarian option greeted us at the table of Chef Robert Leonardi from Wolfgang Puck’s. Robert Leonardi, Wolfgang Puck’s, Cooking Station A fresh mix of Roasted Tomatoes, Pesto, Herbed Ricotta, and Arugula completed this Bruschetta. Bruschetta topped with Roasted Tomatoes, Pesto, Herbed Ricotta and Arugula We were happy to see Chef Ernesto Zendejas from the San Angel family of restaurants in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion. Ernesto Zendejas Cooking Station He and his crew served up a lovely Tacos de Carnita — Braised Pork Served on a Corn Tortilla, and topped with Roasted Habanero Salsa and Pico de Gallo. Tacos Carnitas Tacos Carnitas Chef Kevin Zbraga, of Zbraga in Philadelphia, brought another seafood option. Staff at the Kevin Zbraga Serving Station His Alaskan King Crab Toast was simple, but elegant. Alaskan King Crab Toast You never know when you might run into a celebrity or two at Party for the Senses. And it was exciting to see Chef Art Smith enjoying the party and chatting with guests! We can’t wait until his new Disney Springs restaurant, Homecoming: Florida Kitchen, opens very soon! Art Smith Chef Smith brought a really interesting dish — Pastrami-cured Lamb Loin with Black Brioche Crumble. Pastrami-cured Lamb Loin with Black Brioche Crumble Also in the house was Chef Warren Brown, who has been a regular at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival for years. You may know him from his Food Network TV Show, Sugar Rush. Chef Brown is the founder and owner of CakeLove Bakery in Washington DC. Warren Brown His Cinnamon Cake Truffles were conveniently served on Spoons, which made for easy consumption! And you know we loved the little dollop of Icing next to it. Cinnamon Cake Truffles on Spoons Chef Kristine Farmer and the crack team from the Grand Floridian’s pastry shop also brought it, with this extravagant Banana-Hazelnut Timbale. Grand Floridian Bakery Banana Hazelnut Timbale Finally, Chef Jason Stricker of the Epcot Events Team shared a Malted Milk Chocolate Cake with Popcorn Gelato. Jason Stricker Cooking Station We loved the presentation here. It reminded me a lot of a dessert we enjoyed at Le Cellier last year, the Chocolate Whisky Trifle. Malted Milk Chocolate Cake with Popcorn Gelato Senses fully engaged and spent, we were ready to call it a night. Overall Party for the Senses is aptly named. If you’re looking for an event that’s about more than just the food, this may fit the bill. With spectacular entertainment engaging your eyes and ears, there’s never a dull moment. And the smells coming from the tasting stations where dishes are actually being prepared for guests really draw you in. And, of course, there’s tasting! If you haven’t had a chance to attend Party for the Senses, and you enjoy tasting events, I’d definitely recommend you give this one a try. Sure, it’s pricey. But given the level of entertainment as well as the quality and quantity of food and wine, I think many would feel that it’s a splurge well spent. And now, I’d really like to hear from you! 17. Let’s all “Have a Coke and a Smile…” at the brand new Coca-Cola Store Orlando in Disney Springs! Coca-Cola Store Orlando You can’t help but notice the huge Coca-Cola logo in its classic font as you approach the building, which was purportedly built to resemble a Coca-Cola bottling plant in the 1920s. (Ummmm….okay…..? Bottling plants in the 1920s had super futuristic, floor-to-ceiling glass walls, then? If you say so, Disney.) Featuring three floors dedicated to the iconic soda, the experience begins when you walk under the 30-foot-wide blown-glass chandelier, which was made from repurposed Coca-Cola bottles. It’s kinda like you’re inside a giant bottle of Coke, eh? Chandelier made from repurposed Coca-Cola Bottles The first and second floors are packed with merchandise custom-made for fans who want to declare their love of Coke on everything from their t-shirts (it’s mostly clothing on the first floor) to housewares (primarily found on the second)! Clothing Merchandise on the First Floor Kitchenwares on the Second Floor Glassware Coca-Cola Mug Coca-Cola Ornaments “Style My Coke” features special Bottle Wraps themed for various sports, different languages, and the Coca-Cola Polar Bear. (Guests will be able to meet the Polar Bear for photo opps and BEAR HUGS once August rolls around!) “Style My Coke” Of course, when it comes to the Bottle Wraps, we’re a bit partial to THIS one… Orlando Bottle Wrap While the merchandise is fun (and there’s LOTS more to see), the main reason behind our DFB visit was to check out the third floor… the one that features the ROOFTOP BEVERAGE BAR! Now, you can get there by taking the elevators. Elevators But I would recommend walking upstairs via the ramp, if possible. It wraps around the building and is enclosed with glass sides, offering some pretty cool views as you go. Wraparound Ramps Once you arrive on the top floor, the aesthetics and architecture are modern and minimal, though you’ll spot pops of Coca-Cola red here and there. Rooftop Bar Area Rooftop Bar Area Rooftop Bar Area Table Like most places participating in the new rooftop and outdoor patio trend in Disney Springs, the general idea seems to rely on simple settings that allow the surrounding views to be the focus. View from the Rooftop View from the Rooftop And now, let’s stroll up to the bar… Bar …and see what they’re serving! Oh, and if you guessed, “Umm… Coke?”, then you’re correct! Coca-Cola Store Rooftop Bar Menu Of course, there’s a little more to it than that ;). A huge array of Bottled and Fountain Beverages are featured alongside the Freestyle Experience, whereby guests receive chip-enabled Freestyle Cups allowing 5 refills within an hour of purchase to try out selections of the 100+ flavor options. Energy drinks, Icees, Floats, and Smoothies make up the rest of the menu. Coca-Cola Store Menu It’s pretty much all drinks on the menu, save for the option of peanuts to provide a bit of salt to contrast all the sweet. Peanuts and Coke — it’s an absolutely classic combo. Having trouble deciding? Then you may want to opt for a Tray featuring several “Tastes of the World.” The Float Tray offers several familiar flavors in Ice Cream Float fashion (one scoop of vanilla ice cream per mini float). Float Tray Now, you may have had many a Barq’s Root Beer or Coca-Cola Float in your day. Coca-Cola Float Barq’s Root Beer Float But how about a Fanta Float, in Orange or Grape? Fanta Orange Float Fanta Grape Float Or a Barq’s Red Creme Float? (This one is basically a vanilla-creme flavor.) Barq’s Red Creme Float Mr. Pibb fans might have fun trying the Pibb Xtra Float. Pibb Xtra Float And a couple more classic options are the Cherry Coke and Sprite Floats. (If you haven’t tried lemon-lime floats, I think you’ll be surprised at how refreshing they are). Cherry Coke Float Sprite Float Not only is the Float Tray a tasty way to cool down, it’s also just plain FUN! And the small portions are perfect for group sampling and sharing. While the flavors in the Float Tray are probably familiar to you, the International Tray is meant to offer quite the opposite experience. It features sixteen flavors from around the world (with Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America represented), most of which will likely be unfamiliar to you no matter what corner of the globe you call home. There are so many drinks (a mix of sparkling and still), you receive two trays to carry them all. International Tray Here’s Tray One! International Tray One It features Stoney Tangawizi from Tanzania, with its decidedly gingery profile. Stoney Tangawizi Fanta Exotic Fruit Punch from Uganda matches its name precisely — it’s like a standard fruit punch with VERY intense flavor. Fanta Exotic Fruit Punch Bon Bon Anglais from Madagascar is lemon-flavored. Bon Bon Anglais Sunfill Mint from Djibouti — I gotta say — tastes like mouthwash to me :P. Eww! Sunfill Mint The Minute Maid Joy Apple from Korea reminded me of watered down apple juice. Minute Maid Joy Apple I really enjoyed the Fanta Apple Kiwi from Thailand, which is very sweet and fruity. AND a beautiful color! Fanta Apple Kiwi The Smart Watermelon from China tasted more like mixed fruits to me than just watermelon. It was actually quite light. Smart Watermelon Finally, the Thums Up (nope — no typo) from India tastes very similar to — drum roll, please… — regular Coca-Cola. Thums Up Oh, wait… did I say, “Finally?” Because we’ve still got eight more to try! (Remember, you get all sixteen with the International Tray.) International Tray Two Now, what can we say about Beverly from Italy? If you’ve visited Epcot’s Club Cool, then you’ve likely heard all about (and probably sampled) this bitter love-it-or-hate-it-though-most-people-seem-to-hate-it beverage. Beverly! And just like at Club Cool, most of the fun is in watching the faces of those tasting it for the first time. Cheers, friends ! The Aquarius Libre from Spain is another sweet drink, which reminded me of Sprite with an addition of grapefruit. Aquarius Libre The emphasis is less on the sweet with the Fuse Tea with Berries from Georgia, which tastes essentially like a standard black iced tea. Fuse Tea with Berries Sour seekers will enjoy trying the very tart Bonaqua Fruits Apple Pear from Germany. Bonaqua Fruits Apple Pear The Lift Manzana from Chile has a very unique taste. It almost has a roasted flavor, resembling a cider. Lift Manzana The Fanta Kolita from Costa Rica is a cherry soda, as you may guess from its bright red color. Fanta Kolita Another Club Cool flavor is the super sugary-sweet Inca Kola from Puru, with its very light hint of citrus. Inca Kola And finally — really, truly finally this time — the Delaware Punch from Honduras tastes similar to a fruit punch, but with grape as the prominent flavor. Delaware Punch Serious Club Cool fans looking for even more variety will have a blast with the International Tray. That said, because a similar experience does exist at Club Cool, I would personally grab the Float Tray again or enjoy a regular favorite for a nice cool down on a hot summer day in Disney Springs. That said… believe it or not, this is NOT the end of our options! Because the Coca-Cola Store Rooftop Bar JUST started serving Adult Beverages on July 8th as well! So we’ll see you back here VERY soon with even more frosty fun from the Coca-Cola Store Orlando! Are you looking forward to paying a visit to the Coca-Cola Store Orlando? 19. It’s not everyday we get to report to you from Disneyland — but we sure wish it was! Recently, Dining in Disneyland columnist Heather Sievers found herself in Critter Country at Hungry Bear Restaurant. In this leafy back corner of the park, she soon realized it was just the right time for a snack. Or maybe that realization happened because she saw THIS. Diamond Celebration Mine Car Bucket I mean, a Diamond Celebration Mine Car Bucket filled with anything would be pretty special. I’m thinking popcorn, ice cream (for a crowd?), or maybe even cotton candy would fit the bill nicely. After all, this looks an awful lot like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Popcorn Bucket that we showed you once upon a time. But back to the present. We can never get enough of fun Diamond Celebration memorabilia — and foods that celebrate this big milestone. But are you kidding me with Chili Cheese Fries?! Seriously. This had to happen. And Inside — Homestyle Chili Cheese Fries! Fries, Chili, Shredded Cheddar. Done. Sure, plastic cheese would be an awesome addition! But we will take what we can get. No telling how long this comfort treat will be around, so hurry if you wanna get yours. In Heather’s words, “They gotta unload these things somehow!” And kudos to Hungry Bear for figuring out a yummo way to do it. Will you be heading to Disneyland to get your Chili Cheese Fries in a souvenir Mine Car Bucket? Leave a comment and let us know! 22. Looking for new at”tire”? Some of the newest collections set to debut at Cars Land merchandise locations this summer will get your motor running. The Dinoco themed apparel is just part of the rip-roarin’ fun merchandise that has been created for the entire family. The new line will include an adult and youth tee, fleece and baseball hat. However, if it’s other classic “Cars” characters you seek – look no further than the Tow Mater “No Stall” tee. This authentic collection typically lends itself to be a little more nostalgic in nature, features one of my all-time favorite items – and something I know has been requested time and time again, by friends of mine and by you – a Radiator Springs Fire Dept. tee. Also keep an eye out for the cleverly created U.S. 66 art that will appear on a sign, die-cut keychain and open edition pin. Finally, as many of you know, Cars Land is a beautiful place to visit during the day or night. But it’s at night that you find a special neon glow that brings everything to life. I can say the same for this next collection of items as well. While I wasn’t able to feature everything, I thought I could at least offer a sneak peek at the Cars Land logo fleece and Ramone’s House of Body Art tee. Yes, they actually glow! If you’re thirsty for more, we have you covered. Debuting alongside these items will be a water bottle and travel tumbler, as well as a baseball hat to keep you looking cool, all day long. Look for these new merchandise collections and more at Cars Land locations this summer at Disney California Adventure park. View the full article

  25. When it comes to celebrating the red, white and blue in Southern California, nothing comes close to the festivities in Huntington Beach, and the highlight of the celebration is the Huntington Beach annual Fourth of July parade. This year marked the 112th anniversary of the patriotic procession, and thousands of people lined the streets of “Surf City USA” to view the bands, floats and military participants. We’re proud that Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were chosen to serve as the co-grand marshals, accompanied by Disneyland Resort Ambassador Allie Kawamoto. Befitting their status, they were pulled in an antique vis-à-vis carriage by Disneyland Resort horses Reggie and Brother, marking the first time our Circle D horses have participated in this popular local tradition. Take a look at the video to see our steadfast equine team in action. View the full article
