  2. The opening date has been set for PizzeRizzo! The Counter Service eatery will open in Disney’s Hollywood Studios on November 18th! PizzeRizzo! And we’ve got some details on the eats, too! While we have long known that the specialty of the house would be — obviously! — pizza (and it looks like the pizza will be pretty much the same as what was served at this spot’s predecessor, Toy Story Pizza Planet), it seems there will be a bit more to the menu. Pepperoni Pizza at the former Pizza Planet Each Personal-sized Pizza entree — with choices including Veggie, Pepperoni, Meat Lovers, and Cheese — will be served with a side Caesar salad. A Meatball Sub will also be on the menu, as well as an Antipasto Salad (Romaine lettuce with tomatoes, Mozzarella, Kalamata olives, ham, pepperoni, salami, and Balsamic Vinaigrette). ©Disney Dessert options will feature Cannoli and Tiramisu. Specialty drinks will step outside the Counter Service norm with options such as a non-alcoholic Peach Bellini. Wine and beer will be available for guests 21 and over, along with a Wildberry-Basil Lemonade Limoncello. Some further information has also been released regarding the decor. PizzeRizzo sign Be sure to look all over the restaurant for signs of Rizzo the Rat of Muppets fame as well as his extended family and friends who have paid visits to the restaurant over the years. Your inner party-goer will definitely want to seek out a seat UPSTAIRS in Rizzo’s Deluxe Supreme Banquet Hall, where a wedding reception will be “already in progress…” COMPLETE with a disco ball and accompanied by a party playlist! Looks like I’ve still got a few weeks to brush up on some of my best wedding dances. (I don’t wanna brag or anything, but I do a pretty mean “Sprinkler.”) I hope to see YOU on the dance floor at PizzeRizzo! Is PizzeRizzo on your list to visit in Hollywood Studios? 4. I know … it’s not even Halloween yet and I’m already talking Christmas. I can’t help myself – I recently got the details on a brand-new holiday offering coming to Disney Springs Marketplace and I simply had to share! In the coming weeks, I’ll be providing details on our full slate of seasonal offerings, including several new additions, but today, it’s all about the trees – fifteen of them, to be exact – each one inspired by a different Disney character or story. Excited about the Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail? During this walk-through experience, you’ll wind through a lovely winter wonderland complete with a gentle snow fall, toy soldiers, singers and plenty of opportunities for photos! While I haven’t seen the trees yet (our Holidays Services Team is hard at work bringing them to life), I have a feeling I’ll have a hard time choosing a favorite. Below is a list of the planned tree themes – they’re all on my “nice” list, with the exception of the Disney Villains tree, which is sure to be wickedly fun! Mickey and Minnie Mouse Disney Villains “Moana“ “Beauty and the Beast“ “The Little Mermaid“ “Cinderella“ “The Princess and the Frog“ “Alice in Wonderland“ “Frozen“ “The Jungle Book“ “Mulan“ “101 Dalmatians“ “Tangled“ “Mary Poppins“ The Muppets It’s been fun to see how the holidays have evolved here on property – from the “Toy Tree” that was a Downtown Disney staple for many years (pictured below) to the newest enhancements joining our line-up in just a few short weeks – there’s plenty to feel festive about! The Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail will debut on November 11th and will run through January 8, 2017. Which tree are you looking forward to the most? 6. For a limited time starting November 5, a sneak peek of Disney’s next big comedy adventure, the sweeping animated feature “Moana,” will be presented as part of the One Man’s Dream attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, offering guests an advance look at scenes from the film. “Moana” is the story of an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) meets the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought – her own identity. This special preview of “Moana” is also currently playing at Disneyland Resort, where guests can catch the sneak peek in Disney California Adventure park at the Bug’s Life Theater, featuring a 3D presentation with exclusive in-theater effects. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess and the Frog”), produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), and featuring music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa‘i, “Moana” sails into theaters in 3D on November 23, 2016. 9. We’re back today with another review from last year’s Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic — and a preview of what you can expect this year! Last week, we shared a look at all of the delicious food and drink that you can enjoy on The Causeway. Today, we’re back for a look at the fun “extras” the Classic offers. We’ll also share what’s new for 2016! The Causeway Now in its seventh year, the Classic continues to up its game with new experiences and seminars. This year’s event will offer more than 40 food dishes, over 60 beverages, 10 interactive seminars, and three live bands! In addition to popular returning seminars, like Base to Bubbles (read our review here) and Wine Blending, guests can also experience two new seminars in 2016. Craft Cocktails shares the art and mystique of the classics. Learn how to craft the perfect Whiskey Sour or Old Fashioned! If you prefer wine, check out More than Malbec, which introduces attendees to the world of popular Argentinian wines, with tastings and tips for pairing. Learn All About the Art of Creating the Perfect Balance in the Wine Blending Seminar We were invited out to a sneak peek to see just what you can expect from this year’s Classic earlier this week. We have lots to share with you, so let’s get right to it! New! Chinatown New to the Classic this year, guests can enjoy an authentic taste of Chinatown. This immersive area is inspired by staff visits to San Francisco’s Chinatown, which has undergone dramatic change in recent years. Chef George Chen, who helms Fresh, will head up the booth. As one of the best and most authentic Chinese street food chefs in Orlando, he was the natural choice. Chef George Chen, Executive Chef of Fresh Guests can dig into two different dishes in Chinatown. The Crispy Duck, made from scratch, is a whole duck marinated for 24 hours before it’s hung for another 24 hours. Only then is it roasted so the texture is perfectly crispy. Pork Dumpling — Up Close Pork Dumpling — Inside In fact, staff have prepared over 4,400 dumplings for the classic over the last few days! New! Sunday Bubbles Brunch There was a lot of demand to add a brunch option to the Classic. It only makes good sense, as brunch has been making a major comeback, especially throughout Walt Disney World. So this year, guests can extend their Food and Wine Classic experience into Sunday with the Sunday Bubbles Brunch! Compressed Fruit from the Sunday Bubbles Brunch The event will take place at Il Mulino New York Trattoria, and will offer a mixture of stations as well as a la carte options. We had the chance to see a few of the offerings firsthand. After a night of eating, drinking, and dancing, we love the idea of kicking off brunch with a bevy of Restorative Juices. The blends are prepared with Florida juices in the Fresh Mediterranean Market kitchen. Will you choose Antioxidant, Detox, or Energize? (I have a feeling that I’ll need to layer all three. ) Antioxidant Juice Detox Juice Energize Juice Chefs also shared with us a selection of Compressed Fruit. Fruits are vacuum packed and seasoned, and then served on the plate, garnished with a Gooseberry. Compressed Fruit Naturally, the brunch will lean toward Italian offerings, and we were excited to sample Panzanella as well. The Bread Salad features a combination of day-old Rustic Bread and fresh ingredients, like Heirloom Tomatoes. Panzanella There’s still time to book your table for the Sunday Bubbles Brunch! The cost is $75 per person, and includes one glass of champagne or a specialty mimosa (you have the option to upgrade to bottomless champagne and mimosas at the time of seating). 12. Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Learn About: Liberty Tree Tavern Magic Kingdom Disney World Restaurants A few changes have come to the menu at one of our favorite restaurants — and possibly yours, too — at the Magic Kingdom: Liberty Tree Tavern. Liberty Tree Tavern is best known for its family-style All-You-Care-To-Eat, It’s-Pretty-Much-Thanksgiving-Year-Round dinner. However, this Table Service spot serves lunch as well, though in an a la carte fashion, with popular choices that have included New England Pot Roast, Fish and Chips, and the much beloved — and quite aptly named — Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. And it’s the lunch menu in particular that is the recipient of the recent changes. The main one being that — while a la carte options DO still exist — the All-You-Care-To-Eat Patriot’s Platter is now an option for lunch time, too, in addition to dinner. Here’s a look at just the first portion of the newly updated lunch menu. Screenshot of Liberty Tree Tavern Lunch Menu Lunch previously had a Thanksgiving-style option with the previous Pilgrim’s Feast, which featured Roast Turkey and Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, and a veggie. But it was not All-You-Care-To-Eat, and the Patriot’s Platter also features Sliced Prime Rib, Carved Pork Roast, and Mac and Cheese in addition to the previously mentioned items. Patriot’s Platter Side Dishes — Macaroni and Cheese, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes, and Gravy There are a few other changes to note, too, on the remaining a la carte lunch options. Screenshot of Liberty Tree Tavern Lunch Menu The Entree list is a great deal shorter, and it appears that the New England Pot Roast is no longer an a la carte option on the lunch menu (MUCH to my chagrin). Thankfully, though, the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is safe. Whew! And now we’re signing off from Liberty Square! But first, I’d like to ask… what do you think of this change to lunch at the Tavern? Do you like the changes to the lunch options at Liberty Tree Tavern? Please let us know with a comment! Disney Food Blog Fans, be sure to check out our DFB Disney World Dining Guide e-Books! 14. American Iron Chef and celebrity restaurateur known for “dynamic American” cuisine Geoffrey Zakarian is an Epcot International Food & Wine Festival newbie. Zakarian brings his modern flair to the Festival Center Sunday, giving you two opportunities to see this James Beard and Michelin Star-award winner. I chatted with Chef before his first visit, not only to the Festival, but to Walt Disney World Resort. Q: What are you looking most forward to at the Festival? A: The Party for the Senses celebration at Epcot is on my schedule for Saturday night – let the eating and drinking festivities begin! It’s a Yelloween Masquerade in honor of Halloween. Yellow and black dress code …. thinking about what I am going to pack! Q: What are you looking most forward to at Walt Disney World Resort? A: Honestly, I cannot wait to walk through all of the countries trying each cuisine (in Epcot). From what all my chef friends tell me, everything is so incredibly authentic at each. I have heard that the candy apples at Karamell-Küche are not to be missed, The “Hibachi” Experience at Japan is quite impressive and the Living with the Land tour is eye opening in terms of farming practices. I most probably will take a peek into the Paul Bocuse namesake restaurant, Monsieur Paul, to pay homage and as I will need a good caffeine pick me up, I will be stopping at the Joy of Tea in China. Also my kids tell me (in Magic Kingdom Park) at the Beast’s castle, I will have to “Try the grey stuff – It’s delicious”. Q: What can guests look forward to with your presentation? A: I am teaching a Huevos Rancheros, a delicious Mexican egg dish, from my cookbook, “My Perfect Pantry,” as it is one of our most popular breakfast items across all of my restaurants. People absolutely love it. It is easy to make at home, and I am looking forward to showing people how they can serve this up in their own kitchens. I really enjoy live demonstrations and a Q&A because nothing is better to me than helping people with their culinary questions. There are so many myths out there with cooking and getting answers to eager cooks is extremely fulfilling! Q: Do you have a favorite Disney memory or story? A: As I have never been to the parks yet, I am looking forward to creating that favorite memory on this trip. I do hold Mickey close to my heart, though. My dad was an orchestra conductor, and as a treat, I was able to watch the original “Fantasia.” The animation and music created such an a lasting impression – I was riveted. You can catch Chef Zakarian on Sunday at the Festival Center during his “What’s Cooking With…” event from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Call (407) 939-3378 to reserve your seat. Chef will also sign his book, “My Perfect Pantry” on Sunday at the Festival Center from 11:00 a.m. to noon. View the full article

  16. Halloween is almost here! And if you’re looking for some ghoulish ways to party during the spookiest time of the year, there’s no better place to be than Disney Springs! Disney Springs Pumpkin We’ve been excited to see just what the expanded shopping, dining, and entertainment district would be offering in the way of holiday celebrations, and it’s shaping up already to be a fun place to enjoy the festivities. Let’s take a closer look at some of what’s going on at Disney Springs this Halloween. Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant As the days get shorter and the air turns a little cooler, look no further than Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant for some fantastic flavors that celebrate Fall and Halloween. Mysterious Concoctions at Raglan Road A trip to Raglan Road this Halloween week makes perfect sense. After all, many of the traditions that we now celebrate, like dressing in costumes and carving pumpkins, originated with the Celtic Samhain (pronounced “sow-anne”) festival. Irish villagers would disguise themselves and carve scary faces into turnips (boo!) in order to discourage ghosties from coming ’round. (Well. The bad ones, anyway.) So Raglan Road has created their very own brew, the Druids Samhain Potion, to mark the celebration. The sweet drink is a combination of Jameson Black Barrel Irish Whiskey, Amaretto Disaronno, Maraschino Cherry Juice, Cranberry, and Apple Juice. Doesn’t it look awesome? Druids Samhain Potion Hurry if you’d like to try it — it’s only available now through October 31! If your tastes run to beer, be sure to check out the Raglan Road Signature Collection, the pub’s newest flight. It includes Miriam’s Irish Coffee Stout; Bloomsdale Pale Ale; Tri Wishes Grand Irish Red Ale; and Planted Strawberry & Lime Hard Cider. Signature Collection Flight Beyond Halloween, you can still enjoy the flavors of Fall by sipping on the Spiced Caramel Apple Martini. The drink combines Calvados, Butterscotch Schnapps, Freshly Muddled Apple, Magners Irish Cider, and Hershey’s Caramel Syrup with a Sugar Rim. Spiced Caramel Apple Martini Wanna whip up a little Druids Samhain Potion at home? Here’s the recipe! Druids Samhain Potion Serves 1 Ingredients: 2 oz. Jameson Black Barrel Irish Whiskey 1.25 oz. Amaretto 2 oz. apple juice 2 oz. cranberry Juice 1 oz. maraschino cherry juice Instructions: 1. Add all ingredients to shaker. Fill with ice. 2. Shake vigorously. Strain into rocks glass. 3. Serve over food-grade dry ice with a swizzle stick (available online). Garnish imaginatively! Cheers! Celebrate Yelloween at STK Looking for a fun, grown-up experience this Halloween? Then check out Yelloween at STK, where you can celebrate “with spooky hosts and Champagne toasts”! The event takes place on Monday, October 31, (natch) beginning at 8:00 PM. A ticket to the party includes a two-hour open bar, a “lite bites” menu, drink specials, and a live DJ. We love the vibe of STK’s rooftop terrace, where the event takes place! Upper Level Patio Dining at STK Orlando Tickets are $50 per person (not bad for a 2 hour open bar when it comes to Disney pricing!). To purchase yours, head over to Eventbrite. This can’t-miss show follows along as the Sanderson sisters return to the mortal world to throw one heck of a Halloween party, with the help of some Disney villains, of course. “I have always loved ‘Hocus Pocus’!” Ashley said. “And with the ‘Hocus Pocus Villains Spelltacular’ show, I thought it was appropriate to draw the Sanderson Sisters trying to take over Cinderella Castle!” View the full article
