I’m thrilled to share that Adventures by Disney is unveiling some exciting enhancements to its beloved Rhine River Cruise itinerary and, for those looking to add even more enchantment to their vacation, an all-new Munich Escape. Along with exploring the picturesque town of Colmar and its charming marketplaces, colorful canals, and classic French treats, you’ll have the chance to stroll through Eguisheim, France – a village so enchanting it helped inspire Beauty and the Beast. I dare you not to hum “Bonjour!” as you wander the cobblestone streets. If you fancy a fairytale rooted in nature, you can opt for a full-day excursion to discover the wonders of Lucerne, Switzerland, from the stunning streets of its Old Town to its natural wonders at Glacier Garden, or take a leisurely and scenic bike ride to the fortified town of Neuf-Brisach, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a unique star-shaped design and triple moat. No matter which activity you choose, more real-world magic awaits in the evening with a Beauty and the Beast-inspired dinner menu served on board. Be our guest, and bon appétit. More Flexibility in Amsterdam Your enchanted river cruise journey ends in Amsterdam, and we’ve provided even more flexibility and free time to explore this wonderful city after the adventures of your choice. Choose between gliding along picturesque canals on a scenic cruise with local treats or a visit to Zaanse Schans, a preserved Dutch village where Junior Adventurers can decorate their own wooden clogs – a keepsake straight out of a storybook. These activities are offered both in the morning and afternoon, giving you more flexibility to choose when the magic happens. Hassle-Free Travel Adventures by Disney river cruises are offered in collaboration with AmaWaterways, where every ship feels like your own floating castle. With elegant staterooms designed with families in mind, gourmet cuisine inspired by the regions you visit, onboard activities for all ages and sweeping views of vibrant cities and the picturesque countryside, the magic sails with you. 2. One of the most important aspects of planning a trip to Walt Disney World is choosing the right hotel. While Disney’s on-property hotels have been part of the experience since the beginning — and we certainly love them — they’re not the ONLY way to stay at the “Most Magical Place on Earth. “ What a view! Just off of Disney’s property proper, there are Disney’s Good Neighbor Hotels. Located near Disney World and in the surrounding areas, these hotels are not owned by Disney but instead have partnerships with the company, including typically having a person on staff at each hotel who can help you with your Disney World vacation. Good Neighbor Hotels range in cost from Value Resort pricing to Deluxe Resort pricing, and some offer the same benefits you’d get in a Disney World Resort Hotel, like Early Theme Park Entry and free transportation — but not all of them have these perks! Some guests prefer staying at Good Neighbor Hotels — especially those that offer the same benefits of staying on property — because they tend to be more malleable financially, and for some (believe it or not), the idea of not being completely immersed in Disney for their whole vacation. © DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando – Disney Springs Area In addition, according to Disney, many of these locations also include “breakfast, kitchenettes, and pet-friendly rooms. So whether you’re vacationing as a large group, traveling with small children, or it’s just the two of you, there’s a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor Hotel that’s right for you.” ©Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa Some of the notable Good Neighbor Hotels include: The Disney Springs Resort Area DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace The Holiday Inn Orlando Renaissance Orlando Resort & Spa Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Wyndham Lake Buena Vista ©Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs Resort Area Other Good Neighbor Resorts include the Four Seasons Resort Orlando, select Bonnet Creek Resorts, and the collection of Walt Disney World Gateway Hotels. ©SpringHill Suites Orlando | Disney If you’re planning your next Walt Disney World vacation and want to avoid staying on property, check out Disney’s selection of Good Neighbor Hotels, and stay tuned to DFB for more on the best Central Florida vacation options. 7 Hotel Changes Hit Disney World in 2026 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 3. You could get 2 days worth of Disney World tickets for FREE! Disney World Theme Park Tickets Recently, Disney sparked excitement when it hinted at upcoming offers that are sure to make your next Summer vacation even cooler, and now they’re finally live. But while everyone is eyeing savings on their next hotel stay and ticket packages, combined with kids-eat-free for all of 2026, there’s a new ticket deal designed to give you additional theme park days without increasing ticket costs. You’ll want to hurry, though — its rare pricing makes it a first draft pick for summer-trip planners and casual Disney lovers alike. If you’ve been waiting for a Disney World ticket deal that actually adds value instead of just shaving off a few dollars, this new offer is one you’ll want to take a closer look at. Monorail at EPCOT For a limited time, Disney is offering two free theme park days when you purchase a 4 to 8-Day Disney Theme Park Ticket. That means more park time for the same price — no complicated math required. For example, buy a 4-day ticket and receive a total of 6 days of theme park admission, or purchase a longer ticket and stretch your vacation even further without increasing your ticket cost. Cinderella Castle This ticket offer is valid for theme park admission between May 26th and September 15th, making it a great option for summer vacations, late-summer trips, and even early fall getaways. However, there’s an important deadline to keep in mind: tickets must be purchased by February 15th! Once that date passes, this offer disappears. Disney’s Animal Kingdom A few key details make this ticket especially appealing. First, it’s a date-based ticket, meaning you’ll choose your start date at the time of purchase. The upside? No advance theme park reservations are required, which simplifies planning and gives you more flexibility during your trip. Once your ticket window begins, you can head straight into the parks. Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios As with most Disney tickets, this offer comes with some standard restrictions. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, and they don’t include separately priced events or experiences not open to the general public. Still, for families and groups already planning a multi-day trip, the added days can significantly increase the value of your vacation. Journey of Water This offer is especially useful for those who like a slower-paced Disney trip. Extra park days mean more flexibility to take midday breaks, revisit favorite attractions, or spend time enjoying shows, dining, and all the little details that often get rushed on shorter vacations. Happily Ever After If a Disney World trip is on your radar for summer 2026, this ticket deal is worth serious consideration — especially if you’ve been hoping to maximize park time without maximizing your budget! Sometimes the best Disney deals aren’t about spending less…they’re about getting more magic for what you’re already planning to spend. 5. Orlando Auto Museum will unveil the restored version of the pink, guitar-styled Cadillac once used by Elvis Presley on Jan. 8 — the rock star’s birthday. The Dezerland Park attraction plans to make the 41-foot-long vehicle its centerpiece, and it’s planning some Elvis-related promotions for the following days. The car, a 1970 Cadillac Eldorado that was modified to include strings and frets, was driven once by Elvis Presley a concert in Las Vegas. It was purchased this year by Michael Dezer, a South Florida developer, car collector and the owner of Dezerland Park. The car had been in France, spending an extended amounts of time in a junkyard and on top of a mall. It arrived in Orlando in September and has been undergoing refurbishment to address rusted-out spots and other damage. “Few cars capture the spirit of American music and culture the way this one does,” Dezer said in a news release last fall. “We are proud to bring this extraordinary piece of Elvis history back to the U.S. and to make it available for fans to see up close.” Kris Kirer (left) and Michael Dezer take a look at the custom made, guitar-shaped car that once belonged to Elvis, after its arrival at Dezerland Park in September. (Ricardo Ramirez Buxeda/Orlando Sentinel) The auto museum will have special pricing of $19.35 (a la Presley’s 1935 birth year) on Jan. 8 and 9. Those tickets are available online. Then on Jan. 10-11, visitors who arrived dress as Elvis can receive one free ticket to the museum plus the ability to buy up to three more tickets for $19.35 each. Other Elvis-inspired activites are planned for the latter dates at Dezerland, which willl be marking Rock & Roll Weekend. The museum features more than 2,500 vehicles that are worth more than $200 million. The vehicles are organized into 20 themed rooms, featuring models seen in classic films and TV shows, a military section with tanks and a Roaring ’20s area. If you’re heading to Cape May Cafe in Disney World soon, we have some good news for you! Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort might have just made our day. We are constantly tracking price changes, menu changes, and more around Disney World, and recently, we spotted a lower price for the buffet’s kids’ meals. Previously, a kids’ dinner at Cape May was $33 per child. Now, it will cost you $29 per child! The Cape May Menu It will still cost you $33 per child at breakfast, where you can see characters like Minnie, Daisy, Goofy, and more at Minnie’s Beach Bash. This table service restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. The buffet-style dining serves up seafood, American favorites, and more. Cape May is a buffet! This restaurant’s breakfast option is one of our favorites in Disney World. It’s affordable compared to other popular character dining options like Topolino’s Terrace, and it offers tasty, familiar favorites. Cape May Cafe is one of our favorite ways to start off an EPCOT morning. We can chow down with Minnie and the gang before walking right into the international gateway and heading straight to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Breakfast at Cape May Cafe There have been literally thousands of price increases over the last few months, so this was a very welcome surprise. If you’re still searching for an affordable breakfast in Disney World, we have a few recommendations! We’ve actually broken them down, park by park, to share our favorite options under $10. Kids’ Breakfast Bowl at Woody’s Lunch Box If you’re looking to check out Cape May Cafe, it will cost adults $49 for breakfast and dinner. Have a salted caramel “beach bun” and think of us! They are truly a sweet way to start the day. Salted Caramel Beach Buns We’re keeping our fingers crossed for more price decreases and deals in 2026! Disney has already started things off right by announcing 4 major hotel deals for this year, so we have hope. 14. Deciding what to wear to Disney World is easier said than done — trust us, we do it EVERY day! Disney shirts at Creations Shop in EPCOT Disney sells tons of apparel themselves, and we usually find ourselves leaving each trip with more than we intended (or shopping for some of the new arrivals on the Disney Store website), but we won’t lie — it’s EXPENSIVE. That’s why we sometimes turn to Amazon to see what Disney shirts they’ve got available. They’re often just as cute, but don’t cost nearly as much, which is a big win in our book. If you’re heading to Disney World soon and new some new shirts for your trip, or just want to grab a new one to feel the magic at home, these nine shirts are online now and you can’t miss them! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Say Goodbye to DinoLand in Style ©Amazon We’ll be saying goodbye to one of our favorite rides in Disney World, Dinosaur, over in Animal Kingdom, so it’s the best time to grab the Dinosaur Ride T-Shirt! Snag it now and wear it when you ride the attraction for the last time before it closes on February 1st! Shop on Amazon Bring The Magic Wherever You Go! ©Amazon If you’re looking for a shirt that encompasses all your favorite parts of Disney World, look no further than the Magical Castle Graphic T Shirt! It comes in four different colors and features the park icons (using the water tower for Hollywood Studios!), as well as bows in different colors. Perfect for those who want to dress cute and comfortable! Shop on Amazon Distressed Is In, New Is Out ©Amazon Those of you out there who want a shirt that purposefully looks distressed (so you don’t have to worry about wearing it in, or accidentally getting the design a bit messed up from wearing it so much), the Mickey Mouse Distressed Look T-Shirt is totally for you. Again, it’s available in numerous colors, which we love, because that means you can match it to any outfit you want! Shop on Amazon Castles and Bows? Yes, Please! ©Amazon Want a simpler design that includes the one and only Cinderella Castle and bows? The Castle Shirt Oversized Bows Graphic Tee is perfect for you! There are lots of colors available, making it easy to match to whatever you’d like, and we guarantee you’ll be getting people asking you where it’s from! Shop on Amazon The #1 Duck! ©Amazon We love Donald as much as you do, and let’s be honest — sometimes you feel like throwing a bit of a Donald tantrum when you’re in the parks, and maybe things aren’t going your way! If that’s the case, grab the Donald Duck Tantrum Or Else Adult T-Shirt so instead of having the actual tantrum, you can just point at your shirt and say, “This is what I feel like right now.” Shop on Amazon Channel The Magic of The Genie! ©Amazon Now, if you’re going into your Disney day ready to do what needs to be done to make it as magical as possible, look no further than the Aladdin Genie Let’s Make Some Magic Graphic T-Shirt! Imagine wearing it in Adventureland and taking all the cute photos — it’ll be perfect. Shop on Amazon Who Doesn’t Love Matching Shirts? ©Amazon If you’re planning a big family vacation in the parks for 2026, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to grab the 2026 Family Matching Shirts for everyone in your family. There are numerous designs available, so you can find whichever one works best for you and your group. Shop on Amazon Bring It Back To The Classics! ©Amazon If you’re a big fan of Pinocchio, the character or the film itself, you’ll love snagging the Pinocchio Jiminy Cricket Established 1940 T-Shirt. I know I’ve got a friend of mine who LOVES Jiminy Cricket, so the moment I finish writing this, you know I’ll be sending it to her right away! Shop on Amazon Perfect for Pixar Fans ©Amazon Finally, the You’ve Got a Friend in Me T-shirt is absolutely perfect for fans of Toy Story and/or Pixar, or if you’re traveling to the parks in 2026 with your friends! We love that it features multiple different characters from the iconic franchise, like Buzz, Jessie, and Slinky Dog. 15. A long-time film and television star — and Disney icon — will be leading the famous Bacchus parade in New Orleans on February 15th in celebration of America’s 250th birthday. ©Disney The Krewe of Bacchus has named Patrick Warburton as Bacchus LVII during Mardi Gras 2026, as the krewe celebrates its 57th parade, according to NOLA.com. You may recognize Patrick Warburton from his iconic role as David Puddy on Seinfeld, but we love him as the voice of Kronk from Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove and the Chief Flight Attendant from Disney’s Soarin’ at EPCOT at Disney California Adventure. Okay, who am I kidding? David Puddy is definitely my favorite Seinfeld character. His latest role will have him playing Bacchus LVII in the 2026 Bacchus parade. Listen to Chief Flight Attendant Patrick’s instructions! The Bacchus parade this year is a tribute to America’s 250th anniversary — something that Soarin’ at both EPCOT and Disneyland will be celebrating later this year as well — and will feature floats depicting historical events like The Roaring 20s, World War I, World War II, pioneering women, and National Parks. ©Krewe of Bacchus One of New Orleans’ most spectacular and popular parades during the Carnival season, the Bacchus parade was established in 1969 and crowns a nationally known celebrity as monarch instead of a member of New Orleans society. Shaquille O’Neal was Bacchus king during the 2025 parade. The Krewe of Bacchus 2026 parade will take place on Sunday, February 15th, at 5:15 PM on the St. Charles Avenue route. Port Orleans — French Quarter New Orleans isn’t the only place that celebrates Mardi Gras! Disney World typically drops a ton of new eats and treats throughout the season to celebrate Fat Tuesday and beyond. While we haven’t seen those treats announced just yet, we’ll be keeping an eye out for when they are announced. 17. Star Wars fans and brick builders alike can now delight in bringing their LEGO brick-built creations to life with the new LEGO SMART Play platform, featuring new Star Wars building sets. Powered by the LEGO SMART Brick, LEGO builds can, for the first time, respond to how they are played with – a galaxy far, far away…. can now play back! Introducing the New LEGO SMART Play Platform Featuring LEGO Star Wars The joy of LEGO brick building continues past the construction phase with the new LEGO SMART Play platform, a new play innovation that allows brick builders to bring their LEGO creations to life like never before. Announced today at the Consumer Electronics Show, the new LEGO SMART Play platform is one the most significant innovations in the LEGO System-in-Play since the introduction of the LEGO Minifigure in 1978. Comprised of three platform elements – the LEGO SMART Brick, LEGO SMART Tags, and LEGO SMART Minifigures – the LEGO SMART Play system allows brick-built creations to react in real time, bringing an interactive play experience to LEGO fans of all ages. At the heart of this innovative new system? The LEGO SMART Brick. Powered by a custom-made chip that is smaller than a standard LEGO stud, this small but mighty brick is packed with technologies that bring play to life, allowing paired LEGO SMART Tags and LEGO SMART Minifigures to become interactive and responsive. And the (LEGO) pièce de résistance? The first LEGO SMART Play-enabled sets will be part of the LEGO Star Wars line. Now, for the first time, a galaxy far, far away will play back with three ‘All-In-One’ LEGO Star Wars building sets: the LEGO Star Wars SMART Play: Luke’s Red Five X-Wing, the LEGO Star Wars SMART Play: Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter and the LEGO Star Wars SMART Play: Throne Room Duel & A-Wing. For the first time in the history of LEGO Star Wars, fans and brick builders can bring the iconic sounds of Star Wars to life with fun SMART features that fans can unlock. This includes Lightsaber hums with the SMART Minifigures of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, the engine roar of the A-wing, and even “The Imperial March” theme music with Emperor Palpatine sitting on his throne. All three ‘All-In-One’ LEGO Star Wars sets will come with a LEGO SMART Brick with charger and at least one LEGO SMART Minifigure and LEGO SMART tag. The new sets will launch on March 1, 2026, on DisneyStore.com and in select markets. 18. 2026 started with a bang and so much excitement, and we can’t wait to help you plan your Disney World vacation this year. Now that 2026 has begun, there are SO many new things to look forward to at the parks. Hollywood Studios As we continue through the year, Disney has TONS of changes planned, and that means getting you prepared to tackle them. Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom will have some of the biggest updates this year and the following years. So what does that mean for you as you visit the parks? Well, let’s tackle the 15 NEW RULES you’ll need to know for your trip to Hollywood Studios in 2026. Based on what we’re seeing and learning, these could be game changers for your vacation. Ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Before It Closes for Retheming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith The current Aerosmith concert-themed version of the fan-favorite roller coaster will be closing on March 2nd, 2026, with the last day to ride being March 1st. It’s closing to make way for the Muppets who are taking over! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster CLOSING DATE Announced for Hollywood Studios Rocking with the Muppets ©Disney Aerosmith is going away, but the Muppets will FINALLY be returning to Hollywood Studios! After a short closure, you can rock with the Muppets on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in the Summer of 2026. Find Out All About the NEW Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets Here Planning a Visit to The Magic of Disney Animation ©Disney Animation Courtyard closed earlier in 2025 to make way for the new The Walt Disney Studios area. This area will feature new shows, new meet-and-greets, and the new The Magic of Disney Animation, which will bring back Mickey’s sorcerer hat! The Magic of Disney Animation will open in the latter part of Summer 2026, so be sure to plan a visit to the fun new attraction. JUST ANNOUNCED: CHANGES Confirmed for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Including a NEW Character at The Magic of Disney Animation Expect to See Lots of Construction Current status of construction at Hollywood Studios Yes, it’s true, there will be LOTS of construction walls around Hollywood Studios, especially at the beginning of the year. The Walt Disney Studios area, Monsters, Inc. Land, and, likely, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will all have construction walls up, blocking our view of much of the park. So if you’re headed to Hollywood Studios, keep your expectations for this in check, but remember there’s still a lot of fun to be had! Update On 2 New Lands Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Enjoy Minnie’s Seasonal Dining at BREAKFAST, Lunch, and Dinner at Hollywood & Vine Minnie’s Summertime Dine at Hollywood & Vine Hollywood & Vine offers a character dining experience with Minnie Mouse and friends. Previously, breakfast was enjoyed with friends from Disney Jr., but recently, Disney changed breakfast to match the lunch and dinner character experience. Minnie’s Seasonal Dining rotates themes throughout the year, but the characters remain the same. Dates Revealed for Disney’s Hollywood & Vine Seasonal Changes Visit Hollywood Studios AFTER Hours Hollywood Studios After Hours Disney recently announced that After Hours events are returning to Disney World in 2026! You can purchase event tickets in addition to your regular theme park ticket. The events at Hollywood Studios will take place on select nights from January 14th through September 12th, 2026! Disney After Hours in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios Celebrate May the Fourth Trolley Car Café Dark Side Chocolate Creation 2023 May the Fourth in Hollywood Studios Of course, May the Fourth has become a HUGE celebration at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios. Star Wars fans storm the park to be in Batuu on this special Star Wars holiday. Disney typically offers fun specialty food, drinks, and souvenirs for the celebration. If you want to be at the park this day, we suggest getting there early and/or getting a park reservation ASAP, if you require one (Annual Passholders and certain other ticket holders). Be Merry at Jollywood Nights (Probably) Phineas and Ferb at Jollywood Nights Jollywood Nights has become a fan-favorite holiday event since its debut in 2023. The event has continued to grow and become better and better each year. It is a specially ticketed event that typically occurs on select nights in November and December. Now, Disney has not yet confirmed that Jollywood Nights will return in 2026, but we would be very surprised if they don’t with the popularity it has garnered. Come with Us to the FIRST Jollywood Nights 2025 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Be on the Look Out for a NEW Tier 1 Lightning Lane Ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway With Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closing, we suggest being on the lookout for a different ride taking its place as a Tier 1 Lightning Lane Ride. When you book your Lightning Lanes in advance, you can pick one Tier 1 and two (or all three) Tier 2 rides. Then, when you get into the park and use your first Lightning Lane, the tiers go out the window. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster area entrance on Sunset Boulevard Currently, the Tier 1 offerings at Hollywood Studios include: Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and Slinky Dog Dash. Once Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closes in March, Disney may move a popular Tier 2 ride (such as Toy Story Mania or Tower of Terror) into the Tier 1 category. Keep this in mind when planning your Lightning Lane strategy after March 2nd! Trolley Car Café Is Going To Be POPULAR; Opt for Joffrey’s First Thing in the Morning Matcha at The Trolley Car Café The Trolley Car Café is the Starbucks location in Hollywood Studios, and we’re pretty sure that it’s going to be popular as ever in 2026, mostly because of AJ. If you ever talk to AJ about her favorite snacks, then you probably know the Carrot Cake Whoopie Pie at the Trolley Car Café is near the top of her list! So obviously, we know that’s where everyone else will be going to grab a snack in 2026. Right?! Carrot Cake Whoopie Pie at the Trolley Car Café All jokes aside, the Starbucks locations at the parks do get very busy right away in the morning as everyone scurries into the park. Instead of stopping for a coffee at Trolley Car Café right away, walk a little further into the park and grab something at one of the Joffrey’s kiosks instead. Stop Overlooking the Fantasmic! Dining Package Fantasmic! Many people may not realize this, but there is an option for a Fantasmic! Dining Package that includes reserved seating for the show with a meal at one of the select table-service restaurants in the park. If you’re already planning a meal at one of the table-service restaurants, it might be worth booking the dining package right away, too. Getting reserved seating for the show is a great way to avoid dealing with the crowds. For More Information on the Fantasmic Dining Package, Click Here! Don’t Sleep on the Stage Shows Captain Hook in Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After Hollywood Studios has tons of live-action stage shows that you gotta see. Stop by to see if you can find your “hand twin!” Character Meet-and-Greets Hey, Olaf! From Olaf to Mickey and Minnie to Star Wars characters, you can meet some of your favorite pals at Hollywood Studios. Don’t forget to take advantage of these special offerings! Play Disney Parks App in Galaxy’s Edge Play Disney Parks Feature Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has so much to explore without even jumping on the rides. One of the coolest things to do in the Star Wars-themed land is get on the Play Disney Parks app, pull up the Star Wars Data Pad, and use it to go on missions, as well as collect cargo, translate Aurebesh, hack into droid technology, and a whole lotta other fun stuff that further unravels the stories going on around the planet of Batuu. Walt Disney Presents Walt Disney Presents Walt Disney Presents is one of AJ’s favorite things to do. This showcase tells the story of Walt’s childhood and his growing passion for animation and theme park development during the course of his life. You’re taken through many sketches, models, little TV clips from his Wonderful World of Disney days, and more. Walt Disney Presents: One Man’s Dream in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Then, at the end of the walk-through, you may get to see a featured display with memorabilia from live-action Disney movies, TV shows, or another special Disney event. Finally, you’ll end up at the theater where you can see the film, One Man’s Dream (or the occasional exclusive preview for a new Disney movie). Why Every Taylor Swift Fan Will Be Visiting Disney World By January 23rd Shopping (Duh!) You can’t forget about shopping at Hollywood Studios! Okay, this one is a no-brainer. If you’re not riding rides, seeing the shows, or eating all the food, you’re likely hitting the shops! Don’t forget to grab yourself some 2026 souvenirs from Hollywood Studios. Be Prepared for CHANGES — rides, experiences, and food — Throughout the Year Vacation Fun Theater We know there are lots of changes planned for Hollywood Studios in the coming years, but outside of the construction, changes are happening all the time. 19. We’re starting off the new year strong in Magic Kingdom with MORE construction, but we knew it was coming, so we had time to prepare. Minnie Mouse at Pete’s Silly Sideshow There are tons of meet and greet spots in Magic Kingdom, but a super popular one, especially for younger kiddos, is Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Storybook Circus. It was announced in the middle of December that this special meet and greet spot would be closing for refurbishment, but don’t worry — you can still meet these beloved characters in the land! Right at the entrance to Storybook Circus, we quickly spotted Minnie and Goofy, both still dressed in their iconic attire from Pete’s Silly Sideshow. There was a tape queue set up for people to follow, which appeared to be working relatively well. It’s Minnie and Goofy! Then, we spotted Donald and Daisy, also in their attire, further back by the restrooms in this land. They had a much shorter line than Goofy and Minnie, likely because they’re some of the first characters you see when you enter — for Donald and Daisy, you’ve gotta look for them a little bit more. Donald and Daisy are back here! There wasn’t much of a tape queue set up here, but we could see that changing in the near future when the meet and greet gets more popular. They’re so cute! Then we headed over to see Pete’s Silly Sideshow itself, and sure enough, it’s behind walls. At this time, it’s unclear when this spot will reopen, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye out and let you know exactly when we hear of a potential reopening date. Pete’s Silly Sideshow is behind walls! 23. I’m about to grab my paintbrush and head to Magic Kingdom because the castle is getting repainted and I want to help. Okay, maybe Disney doesn’t want me climbing in a crane and getting the work done, but the pink is switching back to gray this year, and work is about to start. ©Disney When we visited Cinderella Castle on January 5th, work hadn’t started yet, but Disney just took a major step towards the start of the project. On the Disney World app and website, there’s officially a warning that Cinderella Castle is going under a “magical transformation.” Eek! Once Disney starts to put warnings up, that’s how we know they’re getting ready to work. ©Disney To start, Disney will need to drain the moat around the castle so they can bring the equipment close to the castle. When the painting begins, the cranes will be lowered and out of sight by noon each day. Yay for a repainted castle and great family pictures in front of the castle. This is expected to start around January 28th. Cinderella Castle The three shows that take place at the castle, Let the Magic Begin, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, and Happily Ever After, will continue to run but with minor adjustments. The project is expected to be finished later this year. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire Don’t forget to check out some of the other construction projects happening around Magic Kingdom, like the refurbishment of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad… ©Disney …and the new scene, blasters, ride behicles, and targets on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. ©Disney Piston Peak is also being worked on, where Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America used to be. I’m so excited to see Lightning McQueen and all of his friends find their way in Magic Kingdom. Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race. Of course, we can’t forget about Villains Land going behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Disney hasn’t released too many details yet, but seeing our favorite villains come to life is going to be incredible. ©Disney In the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for all the updates involving the castle painting and how it will affect your Disney World vacation. 24. We’re already getting hyped about the idea of staying in NEW hotel rooms at Disney World this year! Disney’s Pop Century Resort Disney World hotels have to update with the times in order to entice visitors to stay in them, and that often means room refurbishments every once in a while. So if you’re looking for somewhere fresh and new to stay in 2026, we’re breaking down the hotel rooms that are changing! Pop Century Disney’s Pop Century Resort is undergoing some major changes all around. First, there were the updates to the Everything Pop Shopping & Dining area, then came a major lobby refurbishment that removed the old memorabilia shadow boxes and gave everything a brighter color scheme. But next on the docket? The hotel rooms. Pop Century Resort These room refurbishments are set to continue through February 2026. You may see and hear construction during the daytime hours, though it shouldn’t impact the availability of any amenities around the resort. See the Lobby Changes Here! Port Orleans — Riverside Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside is beloved by many fans of moderate-level hotels, and right now, it’s doing a major update to hotel rooms across the property. The room refurbishments are happening in stages, working on a couple of buildings at a time. Port Orleans Riverside Room These room updates started in May 2025 and will continue through August 2027. We actually got the chance to stay at one of the new rooms in fall 2025! Like at Pop Century, you may see and hear construction during the daytime, but it shouldn’t disrupt amenities around the hotel. See a Full Tour of the New Riverside Rooms Here! Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village The other hotel that’s getting some room updates in 2026 is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village. From October 2025 through May 2026, guest rooms at Kidani Village will undergo refurbishment. After that’s complete, construction will move to Jambo House. Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney has said that “most” amenities will remain available at this resort during the construction, so we’ll keep an eye on any closures that are announced. The savanna view rooms at this hotel are particularly coveted, and we’re glad they’re getting some love! Learn More About the Room Changes Here! Of course, if you’re heading to one of these hotels in 2026, you’re not guaranteed a new room until the refurbishments are complete. You can make the request with the resort, but keep in mind that it may not be granted. Above all, make sure to have patience and understanding if you’re staying at a hotel that’s under construction! ©Disney If you choose one of these hotels with rooms under construction, just know that you may not be guaranteed an updated room until construction is complete. 25. Innovative, groundbreaking, and relentless. These three words could easily describe the career of Leslie Iwerks, a focused and forward-thinking filmmaker with a generational connection to Disney. Flash back 70 years and you could almost certainly use those same words to describe the early days of construction at Disneyland, highlighted in Leslie’s upcoming documentary film Disneyland Handcrafted, debuting January 22 on Disney+ and Disney YouTube. Eager to find out more about Leslie, her rich family background at Disney (including an assortment of technological innovations), and more details about what you can expect to see during Disneyland Handcrafted? Read on to learn more about this visual storyteller and her detailed journey leading toward the upcoming debut of her brand-new film that longtime Disney fans will be sure to enjoy. What is Disneyland Handcrafted, and When Does it Debut? Who is Leslie Iwerks, and What Are Her Ties to Disney? What Projects Has Leslie Worked on in Her Career? How Did Leslie Uncover All This New Footage of Disneyland? What Else Can I Expect to See During Disneyland Handcrafted? How Can I Watch Disneyland Handcrafted? What is Disneyland Handcrafted, and When Does it Debut? When the documentary film debuts on Disney+ and Disney YouTube on January 22, you’ll have a first-hand look at the trials and tribulations behind the rapid construction of the park leading up to its opening day in July 1955. Told through rare archival footage and insightful soundbites, the documentary will allow fans to journey behind the scenes of early Disneyland and uncover the vision, obstacles, and breakthroughs of this ambitious project. Ready for an early sneak peek before the debut later this month? Check out the film’s official poster above, and learn more about the upcoming film on the Disney Parks Blog! Who is Leslie Iwerks, and What Are Her Ties to Disney? An Oscar and Emmy nominated filmmaker, Leslie Iwerks comes from a family steeped in Disney legacy. The granddaughter of Ub Iwerks (Walt Disney’s original animator and designer/co-creator of Mickey Mouse) and the daughter of Don Iwerks (a Disney camera technician and inventor), Leslie is the producer and director of the new documentary film. Two film pioneers, Disney Legends, and Oscar winners, Ub and Don Iwerks made their mark at Disney: Ub worked at Disney in the early days of the company as an animator and special effects wizard, whereas Don worked at Disney in the ‘50s, ultimately overseeing the Studio Machine Shop and the Camera Service Department. In fact, Leslie’s grandfather and father were particularly instrumental in a large portion of the creativity that has helped take The Walt Disney Company to revolutionary heights over the years. From the landmark creation of Mickey Mouse to the invention of the multiplane camera and the development of 360-degree camera that led to the first Circle-Vision 360° film format, Leslie grew up surrounded by these stunning technological feats that helped pave the way for her to become an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker herself. What Projects Has Leslie Worked on in Her Career? Leslie grew up surrounded by Disney history, frequently having the freedom to explore the Disney studio lot and filling her mind with an imaginative spirit that has continued to fuel her dedication to innovative storytelling. Finding a particular interest in stories that meet at the intersection of business, creativity, and visionary thinking, Leslie launched her early career with an especially personal touch in 1999, sharing her grandfather’s story with Walt and more in The Hand Behind the Mouse: The Ub Iwerks Story. With a desire to tell her grandfather’s story to an audience and championed by the support of Roy E. Disney at the time, Leslie was able to share her family legacy with the world through her own filmmaking. Following the passion and expertise set by her grandfather and father, Leslie continues to leave a legacy of pure technological innovation and key attention to detail with a Disney-filled filmography including The Pixar Story and The Imagineering Story. Her family story lives in her filmmaking to this day, inspired by her past with an innovative search for new ways to connect with passionate audiences around the world. How Did Leslie Uncover All This New Footage of Disneyland? During the creation of the film, Leslie searched through over 100 hours of raw material showcasing Disneyland in its earliest days, discovering authentic outtakes that had previously been sitting in the vaults at the Walt Disney Film Archives for years. Combing through binders of 16mm film reels that were unused from the making of Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color, Leslie and her dedicated team were able to produce high-resolution scans of every reel without a timecode, helping to restore beautiful, once-forgotten shots of the early days of Disneyland onto a hard drive through a revolutionary process that had never been tackled before. Taking on such a massive challenge of searching through all this footage and discovering new pieces of recorded Disneyland history was certainly a tricky task for Leslie and her team, yet the structure and layout of the film feels personal, showcasing some of the most amazing craftsmanship she or anyone else has ever seen. During Disneyland Handcrafted, this distinctive, archival footage will provide an unpolished, fly-on-the-wall perspective for viewers to hear and see what was actually happening during construction of The Happiest Place on Earth. Whether you’ve dreamed of what Adventureland looked like in the third month of construction or how Tomorrowland started to take form with the pressure of opening day looming in the distance, you’ll be surrounded by sights, sounds, and first-hand accounts of real artists, craftsmen, and Walt Disney Imagineers on-site in Anaheim in 1955. What Else Can I Expect to See During Disneyland Handcrafted? A distinctly Disney feature documentary that details the legacy, passion, and nostalgia in the year leading up to the creation of Disneyland, Disneyland Handcrafted will detail the ultimate story of risk and capture the excitement of Disneyland as it was being built more than 70 years ago. With a chance to peek behind the orange groves and experience the making of the park like never before, this documentary will take you back in time to visit the Disneyland of yesteryear and provide a look at the dedication, expertise, and focus that was required to turn a dream into reality. Hand-forged with an assortment of dedicated, invested individuals constantly working around the clock, Leslie mentions that the film encapsulates the raw DNA of Disneyland, featuring the five original lands and the overall sense of overpowering happiness that went on to become the foundational blueprint for future Disney Parks around the world. How Can I Watch Disneyland Handcrafted? Looking back at its opening over 70 years ago, it’s truly unbelievable to see what Walt was able to pull off with his team. When you tune-in to watch Disneyland Handcrafted on Disney+ or Disney YouTube this month, you’ll be able to take an up-close look at the intense risks and the immense pressure that Walt was under in 1955 that eventually laid the groundwork for a massive global industry that is currently in the biggest era of growth since it opened. Honoring the history and revolutionary spirit of Walt Disney has fueled innovation across generations, opening the door for evolution and growth just as Walt dreamed. Leslie Iwerks has taken that message to heart with this film, depicting the thoughtfulness and care that was put into the development of Disneyland and reminding so many of us why we continue to trace our love for Disney Parks back to the original vision of Disneyland.
