  1. You are now entering…the grid. TRON Lightcycle / Run If hearing “the grid” makes you super excited, you’re probably either a massive fan of the TRON movies or have been on TRON Lightcycle / Run (or both). A ride change just happened at Magic Kingdom that makes us a little sad that this limited-time overlay is officially over. TRON Lightcycle / Run has officially turned off its TRON: Ares overlay and has turned back to blue. Temporary red lighting was added to promote the movie, but now that you can watch the movie on Disney+, it’s time to welcome back Team Blue. The original version is back We loved the red! While the ride is awesome during the day, it’s so much more magical at night. The lights are super easy to see, and you really feel like you’re transformed to the grid. Here’s a final look at the red… Tron: Ares overlay …and now the blue! We missed you! Blue is back! When the Ares overlay was on, it transformed from blue to red, but now we’re just chilling with the blue. It does match the Tomorrowland atmosphere a bit better. 3. Attorney Ben Crump, who represented the family of a Kissimmee man who died after riding Universal’s Stardust Racers coaster last year, has now been hired by the family of a 70-year-old woman who died after riding the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida. According to a report from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Ma de La Luz Mejia Rosas lost consciousness during the indoor ride on Nov. 25 and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died. Rosas’s family is seeking more details regarding her death, including information about the ride’s operations, safety protocols, maintenance history and any other incident data, according to a press release on Tuesday from Crump’s office. “Mrs. Rosas went to the park to enjoy time with her children and grandchildren, expecting a safe and joyful experience,” Crump said in the written statement. “Instead, her family is now left grieving and searching for answers. They deserve a full understanding of what happened before, during and after this ride.” The death was first disclosed on Jan. 15 in the state’s quarterly theme-park injury report for the final three months of 2025. The state’s major theme parks — including Universal Studios Florida — issue their own reports about visitors injured on rides if they result in at least 24 hours of hospitalization. However, the reports do not provide any further details of the injuries. The Orlando Sentinel has requested any medical records and autopsy reports from the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office regarding Rosas’s death, but has not yet been provided those records. A Universal spokesperson has said the company does not comment on pending claims regarding ride injuries. Rosas’s death happened a little over two months after 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala of Kissimmee died after riding the Stardust Racers coaster at Universal Epic Universe, the company’s third and newest theme park in Orlando. Crump and Zavala’s family reached an “amicable resolution” last month with Universal, but no details were provided about that settlement. Although not as intense as Stardust Racers, the Mummy reaches speeds of up to 40 mph and has a drop of 39 feet. First opening in 2004, it is one of the oldest rides at Universal. Riders experience a trip through dark Egyptian-themed scenes and fiery effects. According to the theme park’s web site, Mummy riders “plunge high speed into total darkness.” It also states: “Digging your nails into the safety rail, you’ll hold on tight as you rush forwards and back on the track, fleeing from the evil Mummy Imhotep.” The death is not the first connected with the ride. Just months after its opening in 2004, a 39-year-old man from Apopka fell about 4 feet off the loading platform as he was attempting to step into the ride vehicle. He suffered injuries to his head and was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center for surgery, where he died the next day. Days later, a 69-year-old woman was injured when her arm became stuck between a handrail, according to reports. In 2007, a 34-year-old woman broke a vertebra in her back while riding. 4. 2026 is a year of change across Walt Disney World, as major construction projects, refurbishments, new openings, and permanent closures extend across the resort, including at Disney Springs! Disney Springs The area now known as Disney Springs has gone through A LOT of changes over the last 50 years. Before the modern incarnation opened a decade ago, there was the original Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village in the 1970s, the Pleasure Island revitalization of the 80s, and the Downtown Disney era of the 90s and 2000s. So, what’s coming in 2026? Gideon’s owner Steve Lewis wrote, “A few years ago, we started exploring ideas for something new that met a grab-and-go need in a small space. I will admit that another small shop caused some hesitation, but an idea came to mind that was hard to ignore. What if we created a place that offered up savory delights in collaboration with some of our favorite Central Florida chefs? After all, I got my start at Disney Springs as a secret menu item at the Polite Pig. It’s important to pay it forward and bring more local flavors to the international crowds we meet every day. So with that, I introduce you to Six Ravens. This new concept specializes in a creation we call Coffyns, the original term for an old school hand pie. This fluffy yeast bread is filled with flavors created not only by the talented minds in Gideon’s kitchen but also by some of your favorite Orlando culinary superstars. Combine that with potatoes, local draft beer, and, of course, some tasty desserts, and you will have a fun new place to fuel your park adventures.⁣” ©Six Ravens Lime Garage Closure While all this is going on inside, Disney is also working on Disney Springs’ outer infrastructure. The complex’s Lime Garage in Disney Springs will be closed for refurbishment from January 12th through February 11th, reopen briefly from February 12th through 16th for Presidents Day crowds, then close again from February 17th through March 13th. Lime Garage Closed Level99 is set to bring Disney Springs to the next level (sorry, we couldn’t resist) in 2026, and a newly refurbished Lime Garage will make this new gaming location — as well as Gideon’s Bakehouse’s Six Ravens expansion — easier to experience. 5. Chinese New Year is almost here, and both Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort are preparing to welcome the Year of the Horse with celebrations starting later this month! At Shanghai Disney Resort, festivities will kick off on January 28 through March 3 and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will start its celebration on January 30 through March 1. Chinese New Year marks the start of the lunar calendar and symbolizes renewal, family reunions, and good fortune for the year ahead. Each year is represented by one of twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac, and 2026 ushers in the Year of the Horse. In Chinese tradition, the horse is a symbol of strength, vitality, and freedom. It represents speed and perseverance, often associated with success and progress. People born in the Year of the Horse are believed to be energetic, optimistic, and adventurous. In celebration of the Year of the Horse, Bullseye, Woody’s loyal companion from Pixar Animation Studios’ Toy Story films, is galloping over at Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. At Shanghai Disney Resort, Bullseye will debut for the first time at the resort during a special welcome moment on January 28 and will appear in Toy Story Land throughout the Spring Festival. Meanwhile, when he heads to Hong Kong Disneyland, Bullseye will trot into Toy Story Land for fun photo opportunities and even appear on the bright Mickey-shaped lantern in Town Square. Shanghai Disney Resort Shanghai Disney Resort will also introduce all-new Chinese New Year outfits for Mickey and Friends, featuring intricate horse motifs, gold ingot designs, and embroidered patterns symbolizing prosperity. Minnie will dazzle in a water-drop-shaped collar top with ruffled cuffs and a horse-themed sachet, while Mickey will sport a koi fish hat and horse-embroidered jacket. Duffy and Friends will embrace a modern twist on traditional Chinese style with pastel shades, fluffy trims, and delicate embroidery, while Winnie the Pooh and pals will cozy up in festive red scarves. When the celebrations begin at Shanghai Disney Resort, guests will discover horse-themed décor across Mickey Avenue and Gardens of Imagination, where a giant lantern centerpiece will set the tone for the festivities. Entertainment will fill the park with vibrant energy, from the return of Mickey Avenue Shanghai Swing to Goofy dressed at the God of Fortune. Dining will become a centerpiece of reunion, with curated Chinese New Year menus at Royal Banquet Hall and Lumière’s Kitchen, alongside sweet treats like Mandarin sorbets and Kumquat ice cream. Exclusive merchandise collections will bring the Year of the Horse spirit to life, with Mickey and Friends, Duffy and Friends, Bullseye, Winnie the Pooh, and Zootopia characters all dressed in festive designs. Over in Zootopia, fans of the recent Walt Disney Animation Studios film Zootopia 2 will spot hidden surprises inspired by new equine characters, the Zebros and the new mayor Brian Winddancer. From Winddancer’s greeting card in Zootopia Police Station to playful New Year puns on window stickers adorning the streets, as well as the horse mayor’s daily festival speech coming to life in the land, his cheerful wishes invite guests to embrace a prosperous Year of the Horse. Beyond the park, Disneytown will offer lively entertainment and a Spring Festival Market, while themed décor will transform Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel into a joyful retreat. Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Over at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, the park’s spectacular 20th anniversary celebration will continue alongside upcoming Chinese New Year festivities, creating an even more dazzling atmosphere filled with vibrant décor and beloved character encounters that honor this special season. Mickey and Friends will appear in Chinese New Year outfits on Main Street, U.S.A., while Duffy and Friends will charm guests in seasonal looks at Duffy and Friends Play House. Goofy will once again be dressed as God of Fortune Goofy to share warm hugs and heartfelt blessings. Starting February 17, the first day of the new year, guests will receive a complimentary Disney-themed lai see — red envelopes gifted during Chinese New Year — with a chocolate coin and exclusive dining and shopping privileges, adding an extra sprinkle of abundance to the celebrations. The Disney Chinese New Year Lucky Magic Bag will offer a bundle of collectibles and exclusive items only available in the lucky bag including Kee Wah Bakery Chinese pastry giftbox and a special edition Chinese New Year plush – Gelatoni, StellaLou, or LinaBell – in an all-new horse-themed design. Year of the Horse-themed merchandise will also fill shops with cookie tins, red packets, keychains, and more. Fans should not miss the newly-designed Disney Collectible Medallions. Culinary delights await throughout the resort, from Duffy and Friends Sponge Cakes and Passion Fruit & Mango Flavored Twist Soft Serve at the park, seasonal menus at Crystal Lotus and Enchanted Garden Restaurant at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, Dragon Wind at Disney Explorers Lodge, and Ink & Plate at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel. Hotel stays will become even more magical with the Year of the Horse LinaBell-Themed In-Room Merchandise Package, the Lunar New Year Lion Dance Performance on the first day of Chinese New Year, and a range of festive workshops or activities. 9. I go to Disney World for my job, and I have STRONG opinions about where to park at Disney Springs. Disney Springs! There are several options — honestly, more than you think — and it can be a difficult choice if you don’t know the ins and outs of the different locations. So today, I’m breaking down all the parking garages (and parking lots!) to help you decide where to pitch camp when you visit. Lime Garage The first option on the list is the most popular spot for visitors to park when going to Disney Springs. Lime Garage is located in Town Center next to The Polite Pig. It’s the closest parking option to World of Disney, Town Center, and the Marketplace area. This is typically the first parking garage to fill up on a busy day or evening at Disney Springs. Lime Garage Of the parking garages, this one opens first in the morning. You’ll find security in the middle of the second floor of the garage, and once you go through security, you’ll either take an escalator, stairs, or an elevator down to the ground level to access shopping and dining. Lime Garage Currently, Lime Garage is closed for a refurbishment. Disney hasn’t released many details about the changes coming, but we know it’ll be closed from January 12th through February 11th, then will reopen very briefly from February 12th through 16th, then close again from February 17th through March 13th. Learn More About the Closure Here Orange Garage On the other end of Town Center, near the Coca-Cola store and AMC Theater, is the Orange Garage. This is the second most popular of the garages, but it’s usually fairly easy to find a spot here. It’s a great place to park if you want to be close to the theater or centrally located between Town Center, The Landing, and the West Side of Disney Springs. Disney Springs When you park here, there are two security options — one located on the right side of the second floor and one located on the far left. The right side entrance is more popular, dropping you off by the Coca-Cola store, Planet Hollywood, and the dine-in side of AMC Theaters. Orange Garage The left side entrance opens up on the West Side of Disney Springs, in between Everglazed and Splitsville, with easy access to the AMC Theaters box office side. Disney Springs’ Orange Garage The right side entrance puts you more centrally located in Disney Springs, so it’s typically the one we choose. Grapefruit Garage One of the lesser-known parking options at Disney Springs is the Grapefruit Garage. Built a few years ago, this garage is actually located across the street from the shopping and dining district, and it’s connected to Disney Springs by a pedestrian bridge. After you walk the bridge, you’ll come out on a path next to World of Disney in the Marketplace area. World of Disney This garage isn’t always open for public parking. We’ve most often seen it open in evenings or on weekends when Disney Springs is busier — the rest of the time, it’s mostly used for Cast Member parking. If you decide to park here, you’ll go through security behind World of Disney after you cross the bridge. We love that Disney Springs parking is free! This can be a less crowded spot to park on a busy night, but be prepared to put in some extra steps if you go this route. Watermelon Lot Moving on to the parking lots of Disney Springs, the first on our list is the Watermelon Lot. This is the most popular of the parking lots, as it’s large in size and located near prime entertainment like Cirque du Soleil and House of Blues. It’s also home to some electric vehicle charging locations. Watermelon Lot This lot is located all the way at the end of Disney Springs on the West Side. If you park here, you go through security and enter near the Cirque du Soleil box office. You can get access to this area by following the signs that lead to Disney Springs’ “surface parking.” Signage This might not be the best place to park if you’re interested primarily in offerings on the Marketplace side of Disney Springs, but of the three parking lots, it has the best location. Mango Lot The Mango Lot is Disney Springs’ “secret” parking lot! This one isn’t shown on the maps online, but it’s tucked off to the side of the Watermelon Lot, sandwiched between that and the Orange Garage. It’s a rather small lot and really only serves the purpose of adding a few extra spots to this area. The mysterious Mango Lot If you park here, you’ll walk next door to the Watermelon Lot, then go through security by Cirque du Soleil. Like the other lots, it could be beneficial to park here if you’re interested in mostly visiting locations on the West Side of Disney Springs. Strawberry Lot Last but not least, we have the Strawberry Lot! This is located on the back side of the Cirque du Soleil building, so it’s the furthest parking option at Disney Springs. It’s primarily used for Cast Member parking, though Disney opens it to visitors when things get a bit more crowded, or they start running out of spots in the other parking lots. Strawberry Lot We probably wouldn’t recommend parking here unless you’re desperate, because to get to the entrance/security area (the one it shares with the other lots by Cirque du Soleil), you’ll need to take a special walkway. Walkway from the Strawberry Lot Its redeeming qualities are that it’s close to one of the rideshare dropoff zones and it has the best view and location for walking to Saratoga Springs Resort next door (there’s a path that connects to the hotel directly in front of the parking lot). Other Arrival Options So those are all the free parking options at Disney Springs, but what about other ways to arrive? Well, if you’re traveling via rideshare, there are a few different dropoff zones that you could be sent to, so make sure you’re looking closely at the map to determine the one closest to your must-do attractions. Charter buses and rideshare Disney Springs also has its own bus depot, located next to Orange Garage. Here, you can board buses that go to any of the Disney World resorts. If you arrive by bus, you’ll be dropped off near the depot in the middle of Town Center, where you’ll go through security. One thing that’s important to note is that there are no longer any buses that run between Disney Springs and the parks. They used to be available in the evenings, but that option has not returned post-pandemic. Disney Springs Bus Station No matter how you get to Disney Springs, it’s happy news that parking remains FREE! This is a great spot to enjoy on your off day from the parks, and there’s plenty to do and see for the whole family. 11. There’s a NEW coaster coming to Universal Studios Florida in 2027! Universal Orlando Universal Orlando just announced that its own version of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will be opening in 2027 to replace the former Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster. But with this announcement comes news of a big closure, as well! Fast & Furious – Supercharged is Universal Studios Florida’s current Fast & Furious-themed attraction. This ride is a bus-style attraction that features a classic Fast & Furious-style chase scene through the city, complete with explosions and wild car tricks. But now, Universal has revealed that the current ride will close in 2027. Fast & Furious Supercharged No details have been shared yet about what may replace Fast & Furious — Supercharged, but it’s located in the San Francisco area of the park, so it’s possible we could get something to fit that theme. Universal Studios Florida has made several major changes in the past few years, including the transformations of Minion Land and DreamWorks Land. Minion Land in Universal Orlando It’s no surprise to many fans that this attraction is on the chopping block. Fast & Furious — Supercharged has not been very popular, and Universal Studios Hollywood was already slated to get its own version of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. When the Rip Ride Rockit closure was announced, many people hoped for a Florida version of the coaster, along with the subsequent closure of Supercharged. Fast & Furious Supercharged isn’t popular We’ll be keeping an eye out for a closing date and any more construction updates from Universal Orlando. 12. It’s finally here! Universal Orlando Resort has just announced a NEW attraction on its way to Universal Studios, and we could not be more excited. ©Universal Back in August 2025, Rip Ride Rockit in Universal Studios officially closed, and demolition began almost immediately. As it currently stands, the ride is totally gone, but it’s clear that work is being done to prepare the land for a new attraction. Rumors have been flying for months over what it would be, but now we know for sure — a new Fast and Furious roller coaster will be coming to the park! It’s been speculated for months that a new Fast and Furious coaster would be coming to Universal Orlando, as the Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster has been under construction in Universal Hollywood for a while now, and it would make sense that a similar coaster would come to Orlando. Now, we’ve got confirmation that that IS the case. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will be coming in 2027, and “rides will experience the exhilarating sensation of 360-degree drifting as they speed through jaw-dropping maneuvers — including a 170-foot vertical ‘spike’ that will send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.” ©Universal Fast & Furious — Supercharged will also be permanently closing in 2027, which makes us wonder what else is coming to the space! The ride wasn’t overly popular and wait times were rarely above 10 to 15 minutes, but we’re thrilled to see what else could be coming. 13. A Fast & Furious themed roller coaster is the project that’s going up at Universal Studios Florida theme park. It will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, which closed in August. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, an outdoor coaster, will open in 2027, Universal Orlando announced Tuesday. Construction has been in the works for months at the site, which is wedged between the former Blue Man Group building and Universal CityWalk. Universal also announced that its Fast & Furious: Supercharged attraction will close at the theme park in 2027. The big-screen dark ride opened in 2018, taking over the space of the Disaster attraction. In the upcoming coaster, “riders will experience the exhilarating sensation of 360-degree drifting as they speed through jaw-dropping maneuvers – including a 170-foot vertical ‘spike’ that will send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk,” according to a news release issued Tuesday. (Rockit’s peak height was 167 feet). Hollywood Drift will be the first major addition announced for Universal Orlando since Epic Universe theme park debuted in May 2025. Universal’s Fast & Furious rides have been inspired by the 11-installment “The Fast and the Furious” movie franchise, which has featured Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and others. The latest “Furious” film arrived in 2023. Universal Studios Florida’s existing coasters include Revenge of the Mummy, Trollercoaster and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. Universal Studios Hollywood also is adding a Hollywood Drift roller coaster, but they are different designs, Universal Orlando confirmed Tuesday. The West Coast attraction is slated to open this year. Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. BlueSky: @themeparksdb. Threads account: @dbevil. X account: @themeparks. 14. Disney’s Disability Access Service (DAS) system has undergone several changes over the last several years. These changes have not been without their controversies, but now a new change might be on the horizon. Cinderella Castle While the previous changes might have seemed small to some, they have had a large impact across Disney World and Disneyland. A new proposal for the system is being presented to shareholders in 2026. In 2026, Disney is set to include a new Disability Access Proposal. Previously, the Walt Disney Company withdrew a request that wanted to exclude a shareholder proposal regarding disability accommodations in the theme parks. Disability Access Service Pass in 2021 before the changes This request will impact the 2026 proxy statement, according to an SEC filing that was submitted by Disney’s counsel, Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP. The new proposal was submitted by shareholder Erik G. Paul. This proposal calls for an independent review of Disney’s changes to the DAS system that were made over the last few years. Monorail at EPCOT The proposal also calls for the review to focus on board-level oversight that can be related back to risks to any shareholder value connected to these changes. If you’ve never used the DAS system or understood it, Disney describes it as a system “intended to accommodate those Guests who, due to a developmental disability like autism or similar, are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time.” Tree of Life This system’s largest change came on May 20th, 2024, in Disney World and June 18th, 2024, in Disneyland. The change was that Disney partnered with Inspire Health Alliance to assist with its DAS approval process, which impacted a large number of DAS users. This switch included many policy changes and new rules, which is where the controversy came from. Disney’s Hollywood Studios To use the system, guests must first register online and then speak with a Cast Member who can determine DAS eligibility. To be deemed eligible, you must participate in a live video chat, which has rules including: The recording of this video chat is strictly prohibited The Guest requesting DAS either for themself or for someone else (e.g. a minor child) must be 18 years of age or older to register The Guest for whom DAS is being requested must be present during the video chat. You can register up to 60 days before your trip. You can see more of the details below. ©Disney In Disney World, there is NOT an in-person option for DAS registration, but you can do a live video conference on the day of your visit if you don’t register ahead of time. In Disneyland, you can have an in-person meeting at an Accessibility Services Kiosk during a park visit if needed. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland DAS access can be available for up to one year after approval, but it will need to be renewed annually. Previously, the accessibility window was longer. Changes to the system also changed the party size for DAS users from 6 to 4 people or “immediate family.” Expedition Everest We will be sure to update you on any new proposals or changes regarding the DAS system. 16. EPCOT’s World Showcase has long been one of the most popular areas in any Disney theme park, thanks to its pavilions recreating the charms of several countries around the world with architecture, design, souvenirs, and, of course, food! Italy One of the most popular pavilions is the one themed after Italy, which features Venetian, Florentine, and Roman architecture, including recreations of St Mark’s Campanile, the La Gemma Elegante shop representing a replica of the Doge’s Palace, and other hallmarks of Italian architecture, such as the Columns of San Marco and San Todaro, the Ponte della Pagli. In addition, the pavilion’s Neptune Fountain is reminiscent of Rome’s Trevi Fountain. With all that being said, what do Italian guests actually think of the pavilion, and what rules do they follow? Well, we asked around. Don’t Try and Ride the Gondola So, the Italy pavilion is one of the World Showcase pavilions that doesn’t feature a ride or attraction. Now, there IS a gondola in the water outside the pavilion, with placemaking elements reminiscent of Venice. However, the boat is just a placemaking prop, not something that guests can ride or even get in. You can’t ride it… Eat Pizza at Via Napoli While theme park pizza can be… hit or miss, offerings from Via Napoli definitely fall into the former category. These traditional Neapolitan pizzas are made with “fresh mozzarella cheese, San Marzano tomatoes, and real Caputo flour imported from Southern Italy. Water for the dough is even sourced from a spring similar to Italy’s Campania region. Pizzas are then cooked in wood-burning ovens named after the 3 active volcanoes in Italy—Mount Etna, Mount Vesuvius and Stromboli.” In short, they’re as good as they get! “MEZZO SIZE, please!” Don’t Fake an Italian Accent or Other Gestures This should go across the board for any World Showcase pavilions. Just don’t do it, period. Italy Don’t Eat at the Italy Festival Booths As good a reputation as some of the pavilion’s food has — see the aforementioned Via Napoli — the festival booths in the pavilion generally don’t live up to that hype. Whether it’s Food & Wine, Festival of the Arts, Festival of the Holidays, or Flower & Garden, they’re usually close to the bottom of most rankings, including ours. As we wrote in our review of the 2005 Food & Wine booth, “Italy has so much potential, but it seems like it just often gets wasted, and we end up with food that’s okay, but nothing remarkable. This year seems to be the same, and we really wish Italy would just get it together. Maybe someday…” 2025 Italy Menu Skip the Gelato… So, let’s be clear: The gelato at La Gelateria Toscana is delicious. However, is it worth the price? Not for some. They instead choose frozen treats from other World Showcase countries, like the ice cream from France’s L’Artisan des Glaces. They argue that the portions feel more substantial, and the experience stands out more. Italian Margarita …Get an Espresso Martini However, many guests NEVER skip sipping on a delicious and authentic espresso martini. The drinks can be found at Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar. Thanks, Tutto Gusto! Next time you’re heading to EPCOT’s Italy Pavilion, make sure to keep these rules in mind. Stay tuned to DFB for more deep looks into EPCOT’s pavilions. Royal Caribbean Cruises Royal Caribbean Group has some of the most popular sailings on the sea across its three cruise lines — Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Silversea. Now, no matter which one you choose to embark on a voyage with, you’ll have flexibility when you earn your points! Royal Caribbean Group is introducing a new feature to its loyalty program called Points Choice, which the company has described as “a groundbreaking new program created to give loyal guests something extraordinary: the freedom to earn points on any of its three brands and apply them where they matter most.” Are you ready for a Perfect Day? This new offering launches in January 2026, connecting Royal Caribbean’s Crown & Anchor Society, Celebrity Cruises’ Captain’s Club, and Silversea’s Venetian Society. A guest sailing with one brand can now choose to apply their earned points from the sailing to any of the three loyalty clubs. This allows you to build status in your favorite brand or to add points to one that you’re interested in trying out in the future. Symphony of the Seas This adds to the previously introduced Status Match program, which allows loyalty members from the three brands to enjoy equivalent tier status across all three. Royal Caribbean Group notes, “Together, Status Match and Points Choice create the most integrated and rewarding loyalty ecosystem in the industry.” ©Royal Caribbean This is available on sailings departing on or after January 30th, 2026. Members will continue earning points like they currently do, but you’ll have the option to move your points up to 14 days after your sailing. You’ll be able to make the change online. ©Royal Caribbean We’ll be interested to see how this program change impacts Royal Caribbean’s popularity as a brand. 19. EVERYONE, STAY CALM! After years of begging and LOTS of patience, Villains Land in Magic Kingdom is finally taking shape. ©bioreconstruct The massive expansion plan isn’t the only change coming to Magic Kingdom, though! As the Villains are planning their exciting entrance, Lightning McQueen and Mater are revving their engines for the brand new Cars Land. We’ve been keeping our eyes peeled for updates, and the newest construction photos have us over the moon! In 2024, Disney announced that a Villains Land is coming to Magic Kingdom, and we’ve barely slept since. The anticipation, excitement, and nerves have been a lot to handle. Disney has remained fairly tight-lipped about the expansion, outside of sharing inspiration for the area. Villains Land Concept Art ©Disney Now, thanks to Bioreconstruct over on X, we can finally see some construction updates on the upcoming land and Piston Peak. This area being cleared is located behind it’s a small world and the Haunted Mansion! ©bioreconstruct From what we’ve learned, this area is going to be massive, stretching from this area to behind Big Thunder Mountain. This is a rough drawing of where the new areas will go, along with potential changes to the parade route in the park. Existing and Potential New Parade Path This area was previously home to the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, which closed for the construction of Piston Peak and Villains Land. There are lots of construction vehicles still clearing up the land in preparation for the villains. ©bioreconstruct We’ve been keeping our eyes on the construction of Villains Land, specifically because Disney hasn’t given us a ton of information on it or even an opening timeline. We know that this new area will be home to two major attractions, along with dining and shopping experiences. ©bioreconstruct You can tell just how big this area is going to be thanks to these aerial photos! You can also see Big Thunder Mountain down in the right corner. ©bioreconstruct Once the land is fully cleared, we’re expecting some more permits regarding building on the land! We’ve been keeping our eyes on any permits filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, looking for hints or clues as to what is coming. ©bioreconstruct Disney has been more forthcoming with details regarding Piston Peak! They haven’t given us a timeline just yet, but they have given details on the Rally Racers attraction, a new character coming to the area, and more. We’re operating on the assumption that Piston Peak will open before Villains Land, but the close construction makes us wonder if they’re on a more similar timeline than we think. ©bioreconstruct We can’t wait to see what these lands will have to offer once they finally open! 20. I’ve been staying at Disney World hotels for 30 years, and one of my absolute favorite perks of staying there is the Refillable Mug that you can purchase. Resort Refillable Mug These are 16 oz. insulated coffee mugs sold at Disney hotels for one flat price of $22.99 for the length of your resort stay of up to 14 days. If you purchase the Disney Dining Plan, it comes with the plan! The mug gives you unlimited access to coffee, soda, and tea at your resort. This is a win when those morning coffees and late-night sodas add up fast. But as magical as the refillable mug is, actually carrying it around can be a hassle. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. While you cannot refill the mug at the Disney Parks as part of the program, many guests like to carry it to the parks. That’s why this $15 upgrade completely changed how we use our refillable mugs at Disney World. Get this $15 Resort Mug Upgrade! ©Amazon This Dining Plan Refillable Mug Holder Sling solves the biggest refillable mug problem: hands-free convenience. Instead of awkwardly carrying your mug from the room to the refill location (and back again), the adjustable sling lets you wear it crossbody or over your shoulder. That means your hands stay free for holding food trays, wrangling kids, or scrolling through the My Disney Experience app while you wait for your mobile order. It’s one of those small upgrades that make your experience significantly smoother. ©Amazon The snug fit keeps your refillable mug secure, even when you’re walking long resort paths or hopping on Disney transportation. It is also machine washable! When you go to refill the mug, no need to remove it from the sling — you can easily fit it under the machine in the holder with no problems! ©Amazon We love that kids can easily use this, so the parents are not stuck carrying everyone’s mug around at the hotel or parks. You can also drink from the mug while it’s in the strap, so you don’t need to hassle with pulling it out of a bag in the middle of the crowds for a sip of coffee. 21. With all the planning and travel — whether one flies or drives to Orlando, that goes into a Walt Disney World vacation — it’s no surprise that many guests want to hit the resort’s theme parks IMMEDIATELY. However, they need to drop their bags off at the hotel first, right? Well… Driving to Disney World Wouldn’t it be easier if you could just check your bags immediately at the Disney Parks and hop on some rides? Well, we have good news — you actually can! During a recent park visit, one of our reporters did some digging and discovered the process of checking luggage at the Disney Parks! So if you’d like to grab an early morning flight and head straight to a park, here’s what you can expect… You can bring your luggage to the Disney Parks! When you bring luggage to the Parks, you will be flagged over to a search area. We talked to security, and sometimes the search will be done by security staff, and other times it will be conducted by a specially trained search dog. The person we spoke to said they like to use the dog when available, as it minimizes the strain put on the regular security staff, especially when the luggage quantity is large. If the bags are small enough, you can head over to the locker rentals and rent a small locker (12″ x 10″ x 17″) for $10 per day, a large locker (15.5″ x 13″ x 17″) for $12 per day, or a jumbo locker (these fit bags under 17″ x 22″ x 26″ and are ONLY available at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT for $15 per day. EPCOT lockers For especially large luggage, Guest Relations told us that sometimes the Electric Conveyance Vehicles (EVC) rentals will hold larger items for guests, but for a fee. Unlike the lockers, at the EVC rentals, you’re charged $10 per item, regardless of size. Each item then receives a special yellow tag. If you’re looking to save money but want to take this route, you can store your large suitcases at the ECV and stroller rental for $10 each and then consolidate your backpacks into a $15 large locker, which holds between three and four backpacks, depending on size and how tightly you squeeze them in. EVC and stroller rentals Now, this isn’t the most cost-efficient plan, especially since your hotel will hold luggage for free. But if you really are in a hurry to get to the parks, this is an option! We’re always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to plan the best Disney World vacations, and knowing you can check luggage at the Disney Parks could change the game! The design thoughtfully honors the legacy of the original 1950 animated film while presenting the character through a contemporary lens. This reimagining of Cinderella marks the close of her 75th anniversary celebration, which kicked off in 2025. The doll is styled in a sculptural haute couture gown, paired with sparkling high heels and a smartphone frozen at 11:59 p.m., a subtle nod to a modern interpretation of a Princess who defines her own path. To further celebrate this signature collaboration, a new 30-minute documentary special titled “Disney Princess: Create Your World – Viktor & Rolf and Mattel,” will premiere March 24, 2026, on Hulu and ABC Owned Television Stations’ digital and streaming platforms. The episode offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Viktor&Rolf x Disney Collector Cinderella Doll, showcasing the artistry and elegant design that defines this remarkable special-edition collectible. Viewers will witness the creative process behind the collaboration, where design and imagination converge to produce an elevated, high-fashion collectible. This will be the third episode in the “Create Your World” series, following previous collaborations with Coperni and Pandora. The Viktor&Rolf x Disney Collector Cinderella Doll is available for pre-sale on MattelCreations.com, Mattel’s design-driven platform celebrating the intersection of pop culture, fandom, and play, and on viktor-rolf.com beginning today, January 20. On sale availability begins in early Spring 2026. 25. Don’t listen to what people are saying — there IS such a thing as the perfect shoes for Disney World! Avia Women’s Runners We all know that Disney days consist of a lot of walking, a lot of standing, and 10+ hour days. Having comfortable shoes is a must when you go on your Disney World vacation. The question is, which shoes are the best? Well, that’s exactly what we’re here to tell you! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. We love these Avia Women’s Athletic Sneakers! Avia sneakers! These Avia Women’s Athletic Jumbo Lite Runners are perfect for women and teen girls who have a Disney vacation coming up! They are 100% worth the money, especially with the price they’re sitting at right now. They’re basic running shoes, but have a nice slim fit to them and a cushioned heel for running support. Avia Women’s Athletic Jumbo Lite The biggest pro to these has to be the comfort and how they will conform to your feet after you’ve worn them awhile. To be honest, they’re not a pair of shoes we would recommend taking straight from purchase on vacation. Make sure to wear them in a bit before those long days at the Magic Kingdom. They’re so comfy! If we had to point out any con, the toe is really narrow. If you don’t like that, these might not feel like the best fit for you. That being said, we think these are NEEDED for a Disney trip, and definitely made walking around easier. These are THE Disney World shoes! They’re very similar comfort-wise to the HOKA Clifton 10s that we adore, but these are cheaper! Price is a huge factor for us. Durability, brand reliance, accuracy of reviews, and what the brand says it’s capable of as well. When looking at what we want and our expectations, these totally exceeded them — and for such a cheap pair of shoes! We’re giving these a 5/5.
