Before meeting on the field, the teams joined earlier today for their first official pregame appearance, in a ceremony at Disney California Adventure park. During the ceremony, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and Washington head coach Chris Petersen were welcomed by Disneyland Resort President Josh D’Amaro along with Tournament of Roses President Gerald Freeny. After the ceremony, players and coaches from both teams posed for a photo with Mr. and Mrs. Incredible before experiencing the Incredicoaster in the newly opened Pixar Pier. One of my favorite things to do at the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays, that runs through December 30th, is watching the Feliz Navidad event with my familia. Located in front of the Mexico Pavilion, the daily event features a festive mariachi band and dancers and welcomes guests to join the celebration of the holidays al estilo Mexicano. Through the magic of Las Posadas guests can learn about this beautiful and colorful Christmas tradition that is celebrated in Mexico. It is full of music and bailes. And if you are hungry after all the singing and dancing, you can go and enjoy amazing Mexican dishes at Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen. There you can find delicious Enchiladas de Pollo con Mole (chipotle chicken in a corn tortilla topped with mole negro and garnished with shredded Oaxaca cheese and sesame seeds), a Tamal de Camarón (corn tamal stuffed with guajillo-marinated shrimp topped with mole rojo and shredded cotija cheese) and a sweet Arroz Con Leche (rice pudding with cranberries). Enjoyment of Feliz Navidad, which happens six times per day, is included with the regular admission to the park during Epcot International Festival of the Holidays. Remember, the festival runs through December 30. View the full article

Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs has garnered a massive following among Disney food fans — including us! We love this place, where comfort food and tasty drinks are always at the ready! So when the table service spot announced a new menu back in early-December I had to get in there to try it! Homecomin’ Before I get into the eats, let’s just mull over this Whiskey Menu (and the delightful fact that Homecomin’ has a menu just. for. whiskey). Whiskey Menu There’s also a Moonshine Menu, which embraces the restaurant’s signature category of alcohol. Moonshine Menu If you’re looking for cocktails, wine, and beer, take a gander at the full Drink Menu. Here you’ll find moonshine and whiskey used in the creative cocktails! Homecomin’ Drinks Menu I went with the White Peach Sangria, a combination of Peach Moonshine, La Perlina Moscato, fresh Peach Puree, and muddled Orange and Mango. This was super refreshing and fruity. It’s a perfect summer drink (or drink to make you FEEL like it’s summer in January)! White Peach Sangria But what about those new menu items? Well, they’re all over the menu, and they’ve taken the place of other menu items. So while we love a new menu item, we know some of you will be bummed to lose your favorites. Homecomin’ Menu First up in Starters: Hot Legs have replaced the Ham and Cheese Biscuits (don’t worry — the Thigh High Chicken and Biscuits are SAFE!). Hot Legs are fried chicken leg ‘lollipops’ coated in the restaurant’s Fresno pepper hot sauce and served with a side of Icebox Dressing for dipping. Hot Legs These were moist and flavorful — and the hot sauce definitely adds a sweet little kick! If you want to try the chicken at Homecomin’ but don’t want a full fried chicken entree, these could give you a little taste! Hot Legs In Buns & Such, the Barbecue Pork Bun has been removed, and the Cuban Sandwich has been added. The Cuban is still packed with pork — House-Smoked Pork and Shaved Country Ham, to be precise — plus House-Made Pickles, Yellow Mustard, and Swiss Cheese all pressed in Cuban Bread. Cuban Sandwich The sandwich was delicious: salty, tangy, and filling. The fresh Cuban bread makes all the difference in the execution of the Cuban. And I enjoyed the side of Barbecue Chips drizzled with the Icebox Dressing, too! They were seriously awesome!! Cuban Sandwich Under Main Plates, the Grilled Pork Chop replaces the meatloaf. This is an impressive plate of food, with the Porterhouse Pork Chop taking center stage. Sides include Creamy Mashed Potatoes and French Green Beans with Caramelized Onions. But the Tomato-Bacon Jam is the element that really makes the dish shine! This was decent, but the pork chop was WAY too tough for my liking. I know it’s difficult to cook pork to a safe temperature in a restaurant, and this was definitely a casualty of that concern. Pork Chop Roasted Butternut Squash replaces corn souffle, and this simple side is a vibrant addition to any meal here. It’s nothing particularly special, but it’s seasoned well, and adds a burst of color. Roasted Butternut Squash For Thanksgiving, Homecomin’ introduced Pumpkin Bread Pudding — and it’s still hanging around through the Christmas season! The pumpkin-y bread pudding is topped with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, a swirl of Whipped Cream, and a shard of golden, hardened Sugar. The Caramel Sauce on the side was a sweet and delicious addition. This isn’t bumping the Toffee Bread Pudding from House of Blues from the top bread pudding spot at Disney World, but it’s a good, not-too-sweet option for a SUPER pumpkin fan. (I’m NOT a super pumpkin fan, so I could take it or leave it.) Pumpkin Bread Pudding Homecomin’ has some hits with its new menu items! And while we lost a few items in the process, it’s nice to see the chefs at this popular restaurant are working to keep things fresh. Oh — and if you’re looking for a new salad at Homecomin’, the Farmhouse Salad looks terrific! Don’t forget to sign up for the DFB Newsletter so you’ll never miss breaking new menu news (or any other Disney news!)! Have you tried Homecomin’? Let us know what you think! I know, I know … Christmas isn’t even here yet and I’m already thinking about New Year’s Eve. If you want to add some razzle dazzle to the last night of 2018 but don’t have plans yet, you may want to consider ringing in the new year at The Edison. With limited tickets still available, now is the perfect time to make your plans, celebrating the one-year anniversary of one of my favorite late-night venues at Disney Springs! (Yes, The Edison opened a year ago – can you believe it?) For $150 per person, guests can enjoy food stations and an open bar until midnight, plus live music and variety acts – including their breathtaking aerialist – all night long. At midnight, all revelers will take part in a midnight champagne toast as the location ushers in 2019. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and guests must be 21 or older to attend. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here. Planning to visit Disney Springs on New Year’s Eve? Please keep in mind that the property doesn’t offer fireworks or fireworks viewing—for the best displays, I recommend visiting Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios if fireworks are on your New Year’s Eve wish list. No matter where you celebrate, I’m wishing you a very happy new year! View the full article

Ho Ho Ho and Merry Christmas from the Disney Parks Moms Panelists! Like many of you, they too have shared a few Christmas Eves and Christmas Days at Walt Disney World Resort. Should you find yourself in the parks on these most magical of days, here are some of the panelist’s top tips to help you and your family create enchanting holiday memories. “On Christmas Eve, we celebrate with dinner at the Rose & Crown Pub. Most years, the cast members celebrate the arrival of Christmas when it turns midnight in the UK, and the whole place just takes on a whole new level of holiday spirit,” Anna explains. “We cap the evening off with the ‘Candlelight Processional,’ bringing the Reason for the Season to our hearts for sure.” Andrea can think of nothing more magical than spending Christmas Eve at Magic Kingdom Park. She and her family enjoy an evening stroll down Main Street, U.S.A. while singing Christmas carols! “Christmas Day at Magic Kingdom Park is also a unique experience and one that I cherished,” said Jerry. “Of course, Magic Kingdom Park is always magical, but there is just something indescribable about being there on Christmas Day. Yes, you’re surrounded by more guests than most days, but everyone is sharing that Christmas Day magic together.” Jane finds Christmas day a bit more magical by simply seeing all the twinkling lights. One of her top tips is to take a Holiday Sleigh Ride excursion, which allows guests to take in some of the Campsites best Christmas decor. And Anna? Well, she and her family like dine out for breakfast in their Christmas PJs! “We do not miss Christmas breakfast in our jammies. When my girls were little, we let them stay in PJs, and it’s kind of a tradition. They get all kinds of compliments on their festive attire wherever we end up for breakfast!” No matter how you spend your Christmas, all of us send warm wishes for a wonderful holiday and a very Happy New Year! And remember for more information on planning your next Disney vacation, visit DisneyParksMomsPanel.com for a personalized answer from one of our knowledgeable panelists. View the full article
