Have you ever been to Alaska? I haven’t visited our 49th state but my bestie, Jee, insists I would love it! She paints these amazing pictures of hikes where we would see bald eagles, jumping salmon and wild bears. I love the idea of eagles and salmon – not so sure about the bears, unless the bears were named Kenai and Koda! Artist Brittany Ungvarsky also dreams of an Alaskan vacay. In fact, the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness portrayed in Brother Bear inspired her to feature Koda in our newest Earth Month wallpaper. Let this rambunctious grizzly cub remind you to enjoy nature! You can download this new wallpaper in either mobile or desktop versions. Be sure to check out the terms of use about using the wallpaper before you download it. Want to check out other designs? What a happy sight from Tokyo Disneyland. Here, the park’s “it’s a small world” attraction opens for the day, looking bright and shiny. Very similar to the domestic versions of the attraction, Tokyo’s “it’s a small world” transports guests through Europe, Asia, Africa, Central America, and the islands of the South Pacific on “the happiest cruise that ever sailed.” Thanks to photographer Mark Willard for the image. In our Disney Doodles series, artists take turns imagining what different Disney characters would do or see first if they had the chance to visit a Disney Park. In today’s Disney Doodle, artist Evan Peltier imagines what Judy Hopps from “Zootopia” would do if she had some free time to spend at Walt Disney World Resort. Evan thought Judy would enjoy a day connecting with nature while exploring the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival! View the full article

The Otter Grotto is newly reopen on Discovery Island in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! We took you on a trip around the park this weekend and gave you a glimpse of their updated abode. Otter Grotto Animal Kingdom And today we’re taking a closer look, because after a lengthy refurbishment, we thought you might want to see the home for some of the park’s star residents. Otter Grotto Animal Kingdom Sponsored by OtterBox (ha!), the area is very lush and green — as expected in Animal Kingdom — with a lot of fun boundaries and sticks for the animals to play around on. Otter Grotto Animal Kingdom The walkway for guests is abundantly filled with plants and flowers. Otter Grotto Animal Kingdom And here is the entrance to a shaded guest viewing area. Otter Grotto Animal Kingdom There are also a few fun little learning opportunities, especially for kiddos. The one shown below allows little ones to see how large their hands are in comparison to an otter’s paw. Otter Grotto Animal Kingdom Signs throughout the Grotto give facts and information about the otters, much like the other animal locations throughout Animal Kingdom. Otter Grotto Animal Kingdom And as for the stars of the show… Otter Grotto Otter Grotto Looks like they’ve got the perfect place to make a splash, play, and relax. Welcome back to Magic Kingdom for a little What’s New! Today we’ve got a peek at some new-to-us merchandise, character cones (the saga of Hei Hei continues!), and miscellaneous info (including an Easter Bunny update)! Magic Kingdom Character Cone Update So just two days ago we passed along the sad news that Hei Hei, the beloved character cone at Aloha Isle, had flown the coop (we’re not done with that pun yet, obviously). Cast members that day told us they expected raspberry Dole Whip to return, but they weren’t so optimistic about Moana’s lovable rooster. And now… Hei Hei is back. It’s CONFIRMED! Hei Hei is back at Aloha Isle! He’s undeniably cute, and that eye is spot-on perfect. He looks just as confused as when he found himself in the middle of the Pacific with the daughter of the chief! Hei Hei Cone So the cone is back after barely getting loose in the yard, but there’s another development: NOW we can get a pineapple/raspberry Dole Whip swirl! YES! Talk about the height of refreshment for the upcoming summer heat! This isn’t on the menu yet — you’ll still need to ask the server about it — but it IS possible! Pineapple and Raspberry Dole Whip Swirl Meanwhile The Lost Princess Cone is still at Storybook Treats (along with that scrummy Peter Pan Float), and the Adventure is Out There Cone is still at Auntie Gravity‘s! The Lost Princess Cone at Storybook Treats Adventure is Out There Cone Auntie Gravity’s Magic Kingdom Merchandise Sir Mickey’s has plenty of new-to-us merchandise that we had to share. Sir Mickey’s This sweet and soft Pocahontas Tank Top is a lovely addition to the summer wardrobe. Pocahontas Tank Top And for chilly nights: an Aladdin Sweatshirt with this cool scene on the back! Aladdin Sweatshirt At Uptown Jewelers, guests can find the newly-released Pandora Aladdin bangle and charm series. Pandora Collection at Uptown Jewelers The bangle reads “Never Lose Your Sense Of Wonder”, and charms include a blue sphere with silver Magic Carpet Ride detailing, a Magic Lamp, and Agrabah Castle. Aladdin Pandora Collection Other Magic Kingdom Updates If you visit Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny this weekend, you’ll receive a signature card (similar to those frequently used at holiday parties). Mr. Easter Bunny and Mrs. Easter Bunny The Main Street Train Station is offering coloring pages for kiddos who need to get out of the sun and cool off for a bit! Main Street Train Station The camel is still missing over at The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. We’ll let you know when it comes back! Where are you Spitting Camel? If you’re looking for the Dumbo Sipper and Casey Jr. Train Popcorn Bucket, they’re still available in various locations throughout the park. Just a few days ago, something had gone missing from the menu at Magic Kingdom’s Aloha Isle: The Hei Hei Cone had flown the coop. Hei Hei Cone But look who has come back to roost… the Hei Hei Cone has returned to the menu, just as suddenly as he disappeared! Current Aloha Isle Menu The Hei Hei Cone — like its character cone counterparts, the Lost Princess Cone at Storybook Treats and the Adventure is Out There Cone at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies — was advertised as a limited-time item from the first. So we still can’t call Hei Hei’s return a permanent one, and assume he is still a limited-time offering. The Cast Members we spoke with weren’t able to confirm how long Hei Hei’s triumphant return will last. Hei Hei Cone But, you can grab a Hei Hei Cone for now, so that’s something! And, by the way, you can also grab THIS! Pineapple and Raspberry Dole Whip Swirl Even though it’s not on the menu, we were able to order up a Pineapple and Raspberry Dole Whip Swirl (with raspberry being the flavor unique to the Hei Hei Cone, placed atop pineapple to form Hei Hei). This is great news for folks who would love to try the same swirl flavor combo that they offer over at The Tropical Hideaway in Disneyland, but find themselves in Walt Disney World instead. In any case, be sure to say “Hi” to Hei Hei — while you can! — at Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom! Don’t Miss Out on Any Disney Fun! The 2019 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining is now available! We’re always looking for new ways to enjoy Disney Parks treats, and when we come up with a new food hack — a combination of awesome treats — we just have to share. These five Disney Parks food hacks make dining on Disney sweet treats twice as fun! Walt Disney World’s Train Station 1.The Churro Sundae Churros are a total must on any Disney trip (especially in Disneyland, where they’re served up warm and fresh!), and combining them with an ice cream sundae is kind of a genius idea. Truth be told, we’ve been hacking this treat in the parks since BEFORE it made it onto official menus at Taste Track in Walt Disney World’s Epcot (see the Giant Churro Sundae here!) or The Golden Horseshoe for Halloween Time in Disneyland (take a look here!). And you should totally make your own even if it’s NOT on an official menu when you’re there. Chocolaty Churro Sundae Hacking your own churro sundae is as easy as picking up a churro (we recommend one close to your nearest ice cream shop), then popping in for a sundae of your choice. Break up the churros or leave them whole. Either way, it’s a delicious combination of cold ice cream, warm churro, and sweet sauce. DIY Churro Sundae! Just remember that timing is everything for this hack: you’ll want to get that churro first, otherwise you’ll be hacking a churro with a milkshake (unshaken, at that). Although, come to think of it, dunking a churro in a milkshake sounds pretty divine, too! 2. The Tajin Dole Whip The Disney Parks have a ton new fun Dole Whip options, like the new Rapunzel-inspired Dole Whip at Magic Kingdom, but this simple hack takes your average Dole Whip over the top. All this hack takes is Dole Whip and Tajin® Powder! In Disneyland Park, head over to Tropical Imports to grab your Tajin® Powder (or ask for some at Tiki Juice Bar when you order your Dole Whip!). Sprinkle the Tajin® on top of the Dole Whip — and you’re done! Tajin Dole Whips Tajin® Powder is seasoning made with ground chili peppers, salt, and dehydrated lime juice, and combined with the sweet and tart Dole Whip, it’s a terrific flavor contrast for those who like a little savory with their sweet! Check out more on the Tajin Dole Whip Hack here!! 3. Chicken and Waffles at Grand Floridian Cafe Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Cafe is an awesome place to get breakfast, brunch, or lunch, and they’ve also got a food hack that melds sweet and savory. (Check out the full idea here!) First, you’ll start by ordering the Buttermilk Fried Chicken — but you’ll need to speak up because you don’t want the sides that usually come with this delicious chicken (except for the sriracha-honey drizzle!). Order a Belgian waffle instead of the typical Crispy Potatoes, Kale and Bacon. When it arrives, you’ve got chicken and waffles! Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles And remember you CAN request a Mickey Waffle too! Chicken and Waffles 4.The Mickey Ear Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich You probably already love the Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich you can order at Magic Kingdom’s Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, but this hack is even better! Pick up two large Mickey Chocolate Chip Cookies at Main Street Confectionary. Then, head to the Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and order two scoops of your favorite ice cream in a bowl. Optional: Order a side of warm peanut butter, chocolate, or caramel. Mickey Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich Speed is the key to this hack. You need to transfer the ice cream to a cookie base before it melts (easier said than done in central Florida), the top it with the second cookie. Drizzle sauce if you’d like, and then carefully eat. (Don’t forget the napkins — and the FRIENDS TO SHARE — for this one!!) Get the full details about The Mickey Ear Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich here and watch our DFB Guide video below! 5. Chocolate Dipped Mickey Pretzels Another super easy Disney food hack is Chocolate Dipped Mickey Pretzels. Purchase a Mickey pretzel from a pretzel cart. Select one that also sells churros, because that’s where you’ll get the chocolate dipping sauce. When you purchase the pretzel, be sure to grab your included plastic cheese, and request a tub of chocolate sauce as well. (If you need to go to two separate carts, no problem! This hack is adaptable!) You will likely have to pay a little extra to add on the chocolate dipping sauce, but it is so worth it! Now you have a sweet and salty delight. Cheese and Chocolate Dips! Read even more about the Chocolate Dipped Mickey Pretzels here! We love playing with Disney food to see what combinations work, and when we discover a delicious new food hack, we love bringing it to you! Galactic Grill is a convenient counter service restaurant in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. This spot serves up filling eats from morning until closing time, making this a terrific place to fuel up no matter the hour. Galactic Grill We stopped in for breakfast and sampled two distinct options: French Toast Sticks and the American Breakfast Burrito. Other options include a Loaded Breakfast Sandwich and Seasonal Fresh Fruit. Galactic Grill Breakfast Menu These two items were satisfying from the standpoint of filling up, but they’re definitely not winning any awards overall. French Toast Sticks and American Breakfast Burrito The French Toast Sticks are $7.99 and come with a small tub of maple syrup. The serving comes with seven sticks that are dusted with powdered sugar. French Toast Sticks These were crispy and fried to dark golden brown. But for $7.99, they’re basically one dollar per stick (plus 99 cents for the syrup), and even while these work to kill the hunger, they felt overpriced. French Toast Sticks The American Breakfast Burrito was better on all counts: more flavorful with some relative balance in nutrition and more appropriately priced. American Breakfast Burrito The Burrito is packed with sausage, egg, bacon, hash browns, cheese, and pico de gallo. That’s three sources of protein, a starch, and some fresh pico. American Breakfast Burrito This was tasty, with the pico adding some freshness. We would’ve loved to have more of that to balance the savoriness, but we’d get this one again! American Breakfast Burrito The American Breakfast Burrito is $8.49 and worth the price. In fact, it’s hefty enough to share (particularly if you plan to snack throughout the day!), making it an even better value. Plus: it’s portable so you eat it en route to the all the fun! Fans of The Lion King, this one is for you! Have you ever been strolling through Animal Kingdom on a mad hunt for Lion King merch? I have… and for the longest time, it was pretty hard to come by. But with July 19th (the release date of the live-action film) quickly approaching AND the 25th Anniversary of the animated film’s release, we have started to slowly notice more Lion King merchandise trickling into both Disneyland AND Disney World. Lion King T-Shirt We found the new Hakuna Matata Spirit Jersey when searching through Disneyland for all of the new items of the week, and now it’s available at Animal Kingdom, too! The front is branded with the classic film logo. Lion King Spirit Jersey The spirit jersey is giving us no worries with Timon and Pumbaa’s iconic Hakuna Matata motto across the back. And Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa are perfect strutting their stuff right beneath the words. Hakuna Matata Spirit Jersey (This little moment is the same one captured at a newer PhotoPass location in Animal Kingdom — see it here!) The spirit jersey is $64.99 and was seen in a few merchandise shops throughout Animal Kingdom. We have seen lots of new Loungefly backpacks in the parks lately with Star Wars and Toy Story patterns. We love these bags because they are a great size and can easily fit all of our Disney park must-haves. The new Lion King backpack meets all of our Loungefly expectations. Lion King Backpack from Loungefly It has an adorable print and great fabric quality. We can’t get over Simba and Nala making hearts with their tails, both as cubs and adults! The fabric on this backpack is actually nylon, which makes the bag easier to wipe off and clean. And, the interior has a laptop sleeve, which is so nice for those of you who need to keep your laptop handy at all times…like me! It runs for $50.00. New Lion King merchandise was expected to arrive at Animal Kingdom for Animal Kingdom’s Annual Party of the Planet which is taking place April 20 – 22, 2019. This three-day event invites guests to “explore, engage, and connect with the magic of nature.” This will be done through special offerings throughout the park. Learn more about the event here! We are so excited these new merch options arrived just in time for the festivities. Who is your favorite Lion King character? Let us know in the comments below! Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Blogs
Dream makers both, “American Idol” and Disneyland Resort teamed up to make the upcoming Disney Night broadcast very special. Earlier this week, “American Idol” Top 10 contestants headed to the Happiest Place on Earth to prepare for the next phase of the competition. In between watching parades and having fun on attractions, the finalists were coached by celebrity mentor, Rebel Wilson, who offered up her expertise as the hopefuls prepared for their Disney-themed performances. All-star judges judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie joined in as well, performing a timeless Disney song in Fantasyland at Disneyland park. Be sure to tune in to see all the magic on Disney Night, airing live coast-to-coast, Sunday April 21 (8:00 – 10:01 p.m. EDT/5:00 – 7:01 p.m. PDT) on the ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand. Rebecca Hook has created fun and sophisticated fine Disney Jewelry made especially for the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. We love that her jewelry has started popping up in Disney World because we feel that the pieces would make great gifts, perfect for Easter or Mother’s Day! And we’re also excited because Rebecca Hook has created some of the most lovely pieces of jewelry that we’ve ever seen in the parks. Rebecca Hook Jewelry Up until now, Rebecca Hook’s pieces were mostly seen on shopDisney.com. But now you can now see all of the items in person to make sure they’re perfect for you…if you’re visiting Disney World, that is! Rebecca Hook is taking fine Disney jewelry to a whole new level with her Disney Jewelry Collections. Many of the pieces in the collection are rose gold, which fits in perfectly with the Briar Rose Gold trend that is currently sweeping its way through Disney. So now, you can match your Briar Rose Gold ears to your Rebecca Hook Rose Gold necklace…and earrings…and rings! We also spotted a few silver pieces if you aren’t really on board with the whole rose gold trend! Follow along as we take a closer look at a few of the STUNNING pieces from Rebecca Hook’s collections. Mickey and Minnie Mouse Kiss Necklace The Mickey and Minnie Mouse Kiss Necklace is a rose-gold-plated sterling silver necklace. The necklace features our favorite sweethearts, Mickey and Minnie, leaning in for a kiss. I just love these eternal sweethearts! The heart shaped center is filled with cubic zirconia. (Aka tons of sparkles!) The collection is filled with dozens of other stand out pieces, just like this one, that are sure to boost your Disney jewelry collection. Rebecca Hook Earrings The dangling earrings toward the top of the photo are Rebecca Hook’s Minnie Mouse Headband Earrings. These rose-gold-plated sterling silver earrings are a part of the Disney x Rebecca Hook Collection. These French wire earrings are coated with cubic zirconia. More SPARKLES! The smaller set of the Minnie Mouse Headband Earrings are the same as the French wire earrings we chatted about above, but they are set on a post and do not dangle. The insanely gorgeous ring on the left-hand side of the photo is Rebecca Hook’s Minnie Mouse Rose Gold Square Ring. The rose-gold-plated sterling silver ring is accompanied by cubic zirconia around the entire band. The Mickey Mouses are made of cubic zirconia as well. So…this ring is SURE to SHIMMER in the sunlight — or beneath the fireworks. The large stone (the one you’ve been drooling over for the last three minutes) in the middle of the ring is a faceted clear jewel. It too is surrounded by cubic zirconia. The Minnie Mouse Headband Ring matches PERFECTLY with the Minnie Mouse Headband Earrings shown above. (See, don’t you find yourself wanting all the matching pieces?) Rebecca Hook Ring Like the others, this piece is also rose-gold-plated sterling silver. Which is so nice because it helps to prevent the ring from tarnishing. The stones on this ring are also cubic zirconia. The Minnie Mouse Headband Ring is part of the Disney x Rebecca Hook Collection. Rebecca Hook Minnie Bracelet This lovely two-toned rose-gold and sterling silver bracelet above is the perfect way to bring a piece of your Disney vacation home. And you can totally wear it to work, the grocery store, or to a nice evening out because the Disney element is so subtle! From the detailing on the band to the cubic zirconia in the little Mickey heads, this might just be one of our favorite pieces. Since we didn’t spot this on shopDisney we’re thinking it may be a park exclusive! And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better… Rebecca Hook has also created fine jewelry for Annual Passholders. Rebecca Hook Annual Passholder Necklace We know Passholders love their exclusive merchandise and we thought they’d likely not be able to get enough of the Rebecca Hook necklaces! We didn’t spot the Annual Passholder pieces on shopDisney so we assume they are also a park exclusive! Also, all of Rebecca Hook’s necklaces have an adjustable chain. Rebecca Hook Annual Passholder Necklace The Mickey Mouse Annual Passholder necklace is sterling silver. Mickey and the outer rim are covered in that cubic zirconium, just like the other pieces; though we think this one sparkles the MOST. We love the change in color and the special little keyhole in the middle of this necklace. We found all of these necklaces, rings, earrings, and bracelets at the Once Upon A Time gift shop in Hollywood Studios. And the line debuts at Epcot’s Mouse Gear today and tomorrow! I gotta say… you can really find some unexpected eats when you’re busy splishing and splashling the day away at Disney World’s Blizzard Beach Water Park! Blizzard Beach Water Park Just like at Disney World’s theme parks, it’s not only burgers and fries. Sure, you can find your share of those, but there are also more unique items like Plant-based rice bowls and chocolate-dipped Key Lime Pie at Blizzard Beach. And the latest case in point for surprising snacks in Blizzard Beach comes to you from the Warming Hut! That’s where you’ll find Edible Cookie Dough in your choice of S’mores, Hot Cocoa, or Sugar Cookie! Edible Cookie Dough sign Or, at least… that’s what you’ll typically find. As a new item, the Hot Cocoa was unavailable as a choice today. So we dug right into the S’mores and Sugar Cookie Dough instead! S’mores and Sugar Cookie Dough The Sugar Cookie Dough is nice and smooth — not grainy as with much sugar cookie dough. Sugar Cookie Dough It’s not overly rich, either, but you should definitely have a heads up that it’s super sweet! Sugar Cookie Dough The S’mores Cookie Dough, though, was the favorite of the two. S’mores Cookie Dough While it looks a lot like a simple chocolate chip, the taste of the graham cracker really does come through. There are no full marshmallows in the dough; instead, there is some marshmallow fluff throughout the mix (and we even think it could’ve used more of the yummy fluff). S’mores Cookie Dough But it’s truly tasty, and the portion — with a full scoop filling nearly the whole bowl — could be shareable even between two adults… unless you’re a HUGE cookie dough fan who wants it all for yourself! So, Blizzard Beach takes the cookie dough trend — which we’ve likewise enjoyed at places like End Zone Food Court in All Star Sports Resort and AristoCrepes in Disney Springs — and makes it part of the water park fun. So grab a spoon, and dig in! Don’t Miss Out on Any Disney Fun! The 2019 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining is now available!
