  1. It’s not often we get to use our Hot Dog Alert, but today’s the day: Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom will stop selling foot-long hot dogs and monthly Hot Diggity Dogs soon! (Cast members mentioned May 9th as the end date for the foot-long dogs, but that’s not confirmed per Disney.) Foot-long Cheesy Hot Diggity Dog But all hope is not lost if you long for a dog longer than an average human foot because the foot-long dogs are moving to another popular quick service restaurant in the park! Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe will begin selling the foot-long hot dogs after they leave Casey’s! Cosmic Ray’s Sign Cast members we spoke to at Casey’s are bummed to see the foot-longs leave their restaurant, but we’re glad they haven’t left the park entirely. Unfortunately, the loss of Hot Diggity Dogs with their fun flavor combos may be a permanent change. (Although the only constant at Disney IS change, so never say never!) Casey’s Corner Buffalo Chicken Hot Diggity Dog Oh, and note: You’ll still be able to get loaded fries here (thank GOODNESS cuz mac and cheese fries), but no Hot Diggity Loaded Fries (boo Mashed Potato Fries). 4. Great news (maybe?) if you’re going to be a Disney World hotel guest after Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens on August 29th! Disney is extending park hours AND adding more Extra Magic Hour options to alleviate the Galaxy’s Edge crowds that will be flooding the Orlando parks this fall. So…yeah…it’s gonna be CROWDED in Disney World, but at least you can plan to get up really early and maybe not get as lost in the sea of humanity as you would have otherwise. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge FYI, Extra Magic Hours are times when the parks are open exclusively for guests staying at resort hotels that offer the Extra Magic Hour benefit — those include the Disney World-owned resort hotels and several good neighbor hotels in the area. They’re usually only offered at one or two parks per day, but this year, from September 1-November 2, those guests will be able to experience Extra Magic Hours at three Disney World theme parks…EVERY SINGLE DAY. Extra Extra Magic Hours at Disney World Yep, Hollywood Studios — Galaxy’s Edge’s home park — will be open for Extra Magic Hours every day until November 2nd from 6-9AM. So if your goal is to ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ten times with low waits, be sure to be at the gates no later than 5:30AM! During these Extra Magic Hours, Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land, and other “select attractions” will be open. Extra Extra Magic Hours at Disney World AND, if Star Wars isn’t your thing (or you’ve already been there), you’ll be able to experience Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom for an extra hour every morning this fall. NOTE, however, that not ALL attractions will be open during Extra Magic Hours in the parks. For example, in Magic Kingdom, you’ll only have access to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland — no Big Thunder Mountain for you. Mine Train will be open for Extra Magic Hours And the best part is that there are some days showing two sets of Extra Magic Hours for some parks like Magic Kingdom. On this date, you’ll be able to do EMH in Magic Kingdom in the morning and the evening! (Who needs sleep?!?!) TWO sets of Extra Magic Hours for Magic Kingdom on some dates It’s also important to note that from August 29-31, Hollywood Studios will open at 6AM for ALL guests — you don’t need to be an Extra Magic Hours-eligible hotel guest to take advantage of the early opening on those first days after Galaxy’s Edge opens. So, super exciting, right? And yes — this IS a measure to disperse crowds…because there WILL be crowds. Are you staying at a Disney resort hotel this fall? Let us know with a comment! 5. As we begin the weekend, we wanted to share a quick video from this week’s U.S. Navy Blue Angels flyovers at Epcot in honor of Military Appreciation Month. The video offers an amazing perspective of the Blue Angels roaring above the Walt Disney World Resort before performing a perfect “Delta Break” maneuver above the iconic Spaceship Earth attraction. Check it out: Guests watching from below at Epcot on Thursday cheered the Blue Angels during both passes. “I just found it beautiful, I’ve never seen it before,” said Epcot guest and University of Central Florida ROTC Cadet Harleigh Payne. “It makes me feel – this is why I joined the military and this is why I joined the Army. It motivates me.” If you missed our coverage of the Blue Angels flying over Epcot, visit our original story for a video look at the day. View the full article

  7. Wow, wow, wow! Over-the-top CrazyShake shakes and award-winning, mouth-watering burgers are wow’ing guests at Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort! The Downtown Disney District is Black Tap’s first location in California and its first to introduce an enhanced service style where you order at the counter, seat yourself and your order is delivered to your table. Once you’re seated, a Black Tap team member will take any of your additional menu, drink and CrazyShake orders. This is also the first location where CrazyShake shakes can be ordered to go from its take-out Shake Window. See our recent Disney Parks Blog story where we interviewed owner Chris Barish. What to order? How about the All American Burger, a classic recommended for first timers, with American cheese and a Martin’s potato bun. Or, the Greg Norman Burger, Black Tap’s three-time champ! This burger won the People’s Choice Award at New York City Wine & Food’s Burger Bash three years in a row. It’s made with Australian wagyu beef from the famous golfer’s ranch and topped with blue cheese for a rich but balanced burger. Fried pickles, crispy Brussels sprouts, spicy Korean wings and house-made onion rings are tasty add-ons. How do you top that? The Cotton Candy CrazyShake – the original and still a stunner – is a strawberry shake with a vanilla frosted rim with blue, pink and pearl chocolates, a pink lollipop, rock candy, whipped cream and a pile of cotton candy on top. New and exclusive to the Downtown Disney District is the Strawberry Shortcake CrazyShake with a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar, strawberry drizzle and a pink and white twisty pop! Black Tap began in SoHo and you can feel the New York vibe throughout the restaurant, with neon signs, a sticker bomb graffiti wall, stacked subway tile, black and white stripes and three pop art murals by local street artist Jason Woodside. The music is just as fun, listening to ‘80s pop and ‘90s hip hop will keep your toes tapping and dancing in your seat while you eat. Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes is the latest fantastic example of the Downtown Disney District bringing dynamic new dining, shopping and entertainment experiences to our guests including The Disney Dress Shop, Disney Home, Splitsville Luxury Lanes, The VOID, the reimagined World of Disney, the re-designed Naples Ristorante e Bar, Napolini Pizzeria and Wetzel’s Pretzels. Other delicious new spots include Ballast Point Brewing Co. and Salt & Straw scoop shop! Bring your appetite and your camera on your next visit to the Downtown Disney District! View the full article
  8. “Avengers: Endgame” smashed into theaters across the globe last week, shattering records with $1.2 billion in box office worldwide and fans have plenty to look forward to. As we’ve previously announced, the Avengers are setting up new headquarters around the world and will be assembling in a major way at Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort in California, Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland. Recruitment begins in 2020 in California, but check out everything we know so far as you get ready to suit up alongside the Avengers! Guests don’t have to wait until 2020 to get in on the action. In March, the all-new interactive attraction Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! debuted at Hong Kong Disneyland as the resort’s second Marvel-themed attraction and the first to feature a female Super Hero as a lead character. This comes on the heels of fan-favorite Iron Man Experience opening in 2017 and is part of the continued development of an ultimate hub for Super Hero action in the region as part of Hong Kong Disneyland’s multi-year expansion, plus the hugely popular Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney California Adventure park. 10. Just a few days ago we were paying our first visit and eating our way through the menu at the new Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes in the Downtown Disney District of Disneyland Resort. Black Tap Craft Burger and Shakes While the experience was a great one overall, Black Tap’s signature CrazyShakes were an absolute highlight. That’s why we’re so excited to let you know that an all-new CrazyShake has taken a spot on the Black Tap menu (both here in Downtown Disney and at Black Tap locations worldwide) starting today! Are you ready for this? It’s the Churro Choco Taco CrazyShake. Though all of the over-the-top CrazyShakes are huge, this thing is MASSIVE…like Beaches and Cream Kitchen Sink huge (well, almost )! Churro Choco Taco Shake Several components are coming together here, so let’s go through the building steps together. The base is a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shake served in a caramel coated glass. The rim is vanilla frosted with Cinnamon Toast Crunch pressed into it…every sweet lover’s dream! Then, Black Tap adds not one…but TWO Churros AND AN ENTIRE Choco Taco ice cream sandwich to the top off the shake’s base! Loads of whipped cream and caramel sauce drizzled across the top almost complete the shake… but then they sprinkle it all with even MORE Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Churro Choco Taco Shake Now for our review! The Churro Choco Taco CrazyShake is so big you literally have to strategize, so we started with those two churros first. Up next? The Choco Taco Ice Cream Sandwich! Finally, we enjoyed the creamy shake — which is wonderfully complimented by all the components — while spooning the Cinnamon Toast Crunch with each sip… it’s like some sort of magical ice cream cereal! Black Tap Churro Choco Taco Shake We really enjoyed the flavors of the shake overall, but heads up: it was a tough job to finish since it’s so big. But, we ultimately CONQUERED the Churro Choco Taco CrazyShake …and we were the first to do so at this location! Even though the Downtown Disney location features a Shake Window for to-go orders, the Churro Choco Taco CrazyShake is available as a Dine-In ONLY… but expect lines and a bit of a wait if you plan on visiting soon because the crowds have been INSANE! (Hint: it’s worth the wait.) Black Tap Line The Churro Taco Choco CrazyShake is $15, and Annual Passholders may use their discount to dine here. If you’re going crazy over this new shake, you may want to check out all the other CrazyShakes we reviewed during our first visit! Click here for our massive Black Tap review! 24. Earlier today, guests visiting Epcot cheered as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels performed several magical passes above the iconic Spaceship Earth attraction in honor of Military Appreciation Month. The Blue Angels executed two flyovers at 500 feet, roaring by at speeds of more than 250 mph. During one of the passes, the pilots performed a perfect “Delta Break” maneuver above the Spaceship Earth. Many guests at Epcot, which included visiting U.S.military personnel, veterans and their families, said it was a special experience watching some of the world’s best pilots in action during their Disney vacation. “I did two tours in Vietnam and I was on the USS Somers and to see them go right over Spaceship Earth and on the second pass, when they split up – it was awesome,” Epcot guest and Navy veteran James Fredricks said. “I can’t help myself from getting emotional about it.” As many of our readers know, supporting the U.S. Armed Forces and celebrating their service has long been a Disney tradition. After today’s celebration at Epcot, the Blue Angels are traveling south – to the Fort Lauderdale Air Show in Florida. View the full article

This image was taken just inside the attraction’s lobby – which I always wish I had more time to admire. View the full article
