Since opening on July 17, 1989, Splash Mountain has made a “splash” in the hearts of Disneyland Resort guests. One of the most recognized landmarks at Disneyland park, this magnificent mountain towers 87 feet above Critter Country. On this beloved attraction, you depart on a journey inside of a hollowed out log and are transported into the world of Brer Rabbit. You quickly join the adventures of Brer Rabbit as he leaves his home and is pursued by Brer Fox and Brer Bear. The attraction features iconic songs, including “How Do You Do?”, “The Laughin’ Place” and the Academy Award®‐winning ʺZip‐A-Dee‐Doo‐Dah.ʺ As you travel through backwoods swamps and bayous, your adventure culminates in a high-speed 52‐foot drop (more than five stories) at a 45‐degree angle! Here are some fun facts to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this iconic attraction: Splash Mountain was the first thrilling water flume ride created for a Disney theme park. In fact, at the time of its opening, the attraction had the longest flume ride drop in the world! The original working title of Splash Mountain was the “Zip-A-Dee River Run.” There are more than 100 colorful critters in the attraction. The woodsy architecture in and around Splash Mountain is rounder, softer and more cartoon-like than typical human construction. Color plays a major role in setting the mood of each interior scene. At the beginning of the attraction, the colors are bright and gradually become darker as Brer Rabbit gets into more and more trouble. Vibrant, festive colors are used once again following Brer Rabbit’s escape. The large cast of singing Audio-Animatronics figures in the Splash Mountain finale originally made their Disneyland park debut in America Sings, where they performed traditional and patriotic melodies in Tomorrowland from 1974 to 1988. Disney Legend Marc Davis, who was one of Walt Disney’s “Nine Old Men,” designed many of them. In 1988, during the construction of Splash Mountain at Disneyland, Bear Country became known as Critter Country. Hopefully you can Zip (A-Dee-Do-Dah) on over to Disneyland park to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Splash Mountain! View the full article

Surf’s up, dudes! We’ve got our wetsuits, our boards, and our…fuzzy aliens? End Zone Food Court Experiment 626 himself is saying, “Hang loose!” with All-Star Sports Resort’s newest dessert. And, yes, the new treat is just as blue as our great galactic guy. The Surfing Stitch Cupcake has caught a wave over to the End Zone Food Court! It’s a bit similar to the Stitch Cupcake we’ve seen before, BUT with an added Hawaiian summer twist. Surfing Stitch Cupcake The yellow cupcake is filled with a raspberry chocolate ganache and topped with blue raspberry buttercream, blue candy pearls, and a white chocolate surfing Stitch. Blue Raspberry Icing and Yellow Cake Just like Stitch’s personality, the blue raspberry icing on this cupcake is kind of tart! If you love sharp, fruity flavors, then you’ll most likely enjoy this treat. The ganache was very rich (in a good way!), and you could taste the raspberry all throughout the chocolate. Raspberry with chocolate is one of our favorite combos, so the filling was the best part for us! Inside the Surfing Stitch Cupcake The cake itself was soft, moist, and enjoyable with each sweet bite. The white chocolate and candy pearls were lovely finishing touches to the otherwise tangy cupcake. Aloha, Stitch!! Even though we enjoyed it, the dessert was a bit small compared to other cupcakes we’ve had at All-Star Sports. If you’d like to try the Surfing Stitch Cupcake, you can do so at End Zone Food Court for $5.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. Have you tried the Surfing Stitch Cupcake? We’re here with another roundup of What’s New at Magic Kingdom, and today we’ll be giving you a look into construction, merchandise, ride maintenance, and even a new dining area! Cinderella Castle There’s a lot to see, so let’s hop right in. Speaking of hopping on in… The Pluto Bus We spotted the new Sensational Six buses at the Magic Kingdom bus stop while we were heading into the park! Hot diggity dog! Click HERE to go INSIDE the buses with us! Magic Kingdom Maintenance Update Pilots, Astro Orbiter is taking a quick break! The ride has been down for a couple of days due to technical difficulties (we told you that jump to hyperdrive wouldn’t work!!). Astro Orbiter Cast Members were seen handing out Mickey stickers to guests who missed the attraction. Of course, we had to get one! Cast Member Handing Out Mickey Stickers While nobody was working on the ride when we were in Magic Kingdom, we were informed that they hope to reopen Astro Orbiter soon. Magic Kingdom Construction Update Taking a stroll through Tomorrowland, the Tomorrowland Sign is still gone as we reported earlier. Yes, this is the saddest photo you’ll see all day… . The Missing Tomorrowland Sign On a happier note, the Tron Coaster is making some great progress! The construction workers seem to be moving along quickly to bring us the futuristic thrill ride. Construction on the Tron Ride Just look at that incredible track! We have the need for speed right now after seeing those twists and turns! Tron Ride Track On the other hand, the Cinderella Castle walkway is slowly but surely coming together. The foundation is starting to be set so guests have more room to dance and play in the park. Cinderella Walkway Construction We have to admit we do miss that moat, though! The Moat Has Been Drained for More Walking Space Previously, we spotted a strange curtain separating the men’s and kids’ sections at the Emporium. Boys’ Section in the Emporium We aren’t sure why it was there in the first place, but it has since disappeared and the walkway is open. Men’s Section in the Emporium That just means there’s more room to shop, which is a plus in our book! Magic Kingdom Merchandise Update While we were hanging out in Emporium, we just happened to find MORE The Little Mermaid merch! (We weren’t surprised either.) The Little Mermaid Emporium Display There is an Ariel Shirt for girls featuring everyone’s favorite fish friend, Flounder! Ariel Girls’ Shirt School is coming up soon, parents (whether you’re happy about this or not is your decision!). Send your little ones back to class with The Little Mermaid Backpack! Navy Castle Phone Case With all these cute Disney finds, we could have a different phone case every day! Magic Kingdom Rest Area Update Located near the exit of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Miner’s Cove has been refurbished into a rest area! Miner’s Cove used to be the smoking area in Frontierland, but since Disney has created the no smoking policy in all parks, we get a new picnic area instead! Miner’s Cove Sign There are picnic tables with umbrellas… Picnic Tables …rocking chairs under wooden covering… Relaxing Rocking Chairs …and even a pet relief station! Pet Relief Sign No smoking signs are posted in Miner’s Cove, so guests will need to leave the smoke to the Walt Disney World Railroad. CELEBRATION, Fla. (July 17, 2019) – For the fourth consecutive year, Disney Castaway Cay has been named the “Top Cruise Line Private Island” in the Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards. Disney Cruise Line also was recognized by Cruise Critic members as the “Top Cruise Line in the Eastern Caribbean, Bahamas and Bermuda,” as well as “Top Cruise Line in the Western Caribbean and Riviera Maya” – both in the Large Ship Cruise Line category. “It’s our dedicated officers and crew members who deliver the Disney difference again and again, whether on Castaway Cay or aboard our ships,” said Jeff Vahle, president of Disney Cruise Line. “Our team strives to provide a vacation experience unlike anything else at sea, and this recognition speaks directly to their special way of making magic for our guests.” The Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards are selected based on thousands of first-hand reviews posted to the Cruise Critic website over the past year. Cruise Critic offers one of the largest online cruise communities with more than 350,000 cruise reviews. “Cruise Critic’s Destination Awards are based entirely on feedback from guests – so Disney’s three wins are a direct result of the positive experiences guests have had, in some of the most visited cruise regions in the world,” said Colleen McDaniel, Editor-in-Chief of Cruise Critic. “What we repeatedly hear from Disney cruisers is that it’s a vacation for all ages – from the fun-filled visits to Castaway Cay to the experience on the ships themselves. Disney’s awards speak volumes about the high level of satisfaction guests have about their cruise.” Disney Castaway Cay is a 1,000-acre private island with turquoise waters, white-sand beaches and swaying palm trees that is exclusive to Disney Cruise Line guests. One Cruise Critic member described the island as “the best place on earth with plenty to do for all ages.” Another shared, “We had the time of our lives. The children were well entertained and there was a separate area for adults to relax and enjoy.” Since its launch in 1998, Disney Cruise Line has been recognized as the leader in family cruising, offering guests the magic of Disney entertainment combined with the relaxation of tropical, sun-drenched beaches and adventure of ocean cruising. Disney Cruise Line continues to expand its horizons, with new ships scheduled for delivery in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Disney Cruise Line has received hundreds of distinguished awards from the travel industry praising all aspects of the experience from dining to entertainment. To learn more about Disney Cruise Line or to book a vacation, guests can contact their travel agent, visit disneycruise.com or call Disney Cruise Line at 888-DCL-2500. Fall will be here before you know it, and that means it’s almost time for my favorite event of the year Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! And this year will be particularly exciting with several returning favorites and some all-new experiences, highlighted by the debut of the incredible new “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular.” Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” serves as the host of this all-new nighttime extravaganza, with state-of-the-art projection effects, lasers, lighting and dazzling fireworks filling the sky above Magic Kingdom Park. Jack has come to tell a not-so-scary story about how anything can happen on Halloween night. Jack’s ghost dog, Zero, then flies off carrying everyone along on a trick-or-treating adventure, where four friends – Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy – find themselves drawn into a mysterious haunted house. Their journey takes them from one room of the house to another, encountering dancing skeletons, waltzing ghosts and a whole series of troublemaking Disney villains. “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular” promises to be the perfect Halloween treat! The fireworks are just part of the Halloween fun. Several attractions across the park receive special enhancements just for the Halloween party! New this year, when you follow the treat trail into the Monster World at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, they’ll interact in all-new ways with the comic cast of monsters, as they learn about the curious Human World holiday we call Halloween. Embarking upon the high seas with the Pirates of the Caribbean, you’ll discover a crew of live pirates on your journey, engaged in a whole new adventure in search of treasure. Space Mountain goes completely dark again this year, hurtling you through the blackness of deep space to the riffs and chords of a new hard-rockin’ soundtrack, and at the Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland, each spin of the teacups takes guests into madder and madder territory, as special lighting and music give the attraction experience an extra energy after dark. There’s also the amazing “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular,” the ride of the Headless Horseman, “Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween Parade,” Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball and “Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam,” where this year Nancy Clancy from the hit Disney Junior series “Fancy Nancy” joins other Disney Junior pals like Vampirina and Doc McStuffins. You won’t want to miss the all-new “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular” or any of the other delightful treats in store at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, select nights August 16 – November 1, 2019. Time to get those tickets and start working on your Halloween costume! View the full article

We think Disney theme parks are pretty spectacular, but there are a few things that can make the Disney Parks experience even MORE exciting! We love our MagicBands (despite the ordering glitches!) and Mobile Order, but today we want to talk to you about the Play Disney Parks App. Play Disney Parks App This app allows you to earn different achievements by participating in attraction-themed activities on your phone. That’s pretty cool on its own, but wouldn’t it be even cooler to earn commemorative pins for your achievements? Disney previously introduced pins to commemorate your digital achievements, and now they’ve released three NEW pins! Mansion, Pirates, and Star Wars lovers — listen up! These new pins feature a High Seas Scallyway from Pirates of the Caribbean, a Hitchhiking Ghost from Haunted Mansion and a Star Tourist from Star Tours — The Adventures Continue. So how can you get your hands on these special attraction pins? Well, you first need to download the Play Disney Parks app to your phone. Then, log in and turn on your Bluetooth and Location Services. Next, it gets really fun! You simply have to ride the attractions that have achievements and earn them while waiting in line. Once you’ve done this, all you’ll have to do is show your accomplished digital achievement screen to a Cast Member and you’ll be able to purchase your commemorative pin! We don’t love the fact that we have to purchase the pins we achieve, but it’s still pretty cool! ©Disney Disneyland Resort The Pirates and Mansion pin can be purchased at Pieces of Eight in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square. And the Star Tours tourist pin will be available at The Star Trader in Tomorrowland. All three pins can be found at Westward Ho Trading Company in Frontierland. Walt Disney World If you’re in Disney World, you can find the Haunted Mansion pin at Memento Mori and the Pirates Pin can be found at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar in Magic Kingdom. The Star Tours pin can be purchased at Tatooine Traders in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Or you can find the entire collection at Frontier Trading Post in Magic Kingdom. Supplies may be limited, so if you want to grab one of these pins we recommend doing so sooner rather than later! Note that you may purchase one pin per achievement per account. Like we said before, we don’t love the fact that we have to purchase the pins we earn, but they are still super cute! Disney did not release pricing information for these pins, but we’ll update this post once we have that information! Which pin do you have your eye on? Will you work to get all three?
