  2. Enchantment is in the air in Disneyland with the Magic Happens Parade making its debut in the park! Sleeping Beauty Churros And, even though we’ve been trying all the Magic Happens treats throughout the kingdom (like the pretty Sleeping Beauty Churros), we’re ready to try a dreamy new dessert at Jolly Holiday Bakery! The Royal Cupcake is looking like a real beauty inspired by Aurora herself! Royal Cupcake The vanilla cupcake is topped with a thick layer of that standard Jolly Holiday buttercream (swirled to fit both Flora and Merryweather’s favorite colors) and a mini crown! The cake was very moist, even with all the frosting on top! The light vanilla flavors were super sweet and yummy, even though we would have loved a filling in the middle. Royal Cupcake You can get the Royal Cupcake for $6.99 at Jolly Holiday then smile (show off those pearly blues!) and wave at Aurora and Prince Phillip in the parade! 4. While the Food & Wine Festival in Disney California Adventure is a GREAT spot for snacking, we’re also sipping on so many tasty drinks to celebrate! DCA Food and Wine Passport We’ve already tried Garlic Kissed’s Carbonara Garlic Mac & Cheese with Bacon and the best dessert we’ve tried so far at Off the Cob, and now we’re about to taste SO MANY beers that are new to the festival this year at the Paradise Beer Garden! While the 2019 festival featured 10 different beers and a beer flight, the Festival Beer Garden is pulling out all the stops and rolling out more beers than they’ve ever offered before! We’re talking 12 yummy beers on this year’s line-up! Festival Beer Garden FRUIT BEERS: Two varieties of beer are featured at Paradise Beer Garden this year! Festival Beer Garden First, we’re focusing our beer goggles on the lighter, fruiter offerings! 2 Towns Outcider Hard Cider for $11.75, Bottle Logic Marceline Muffin Blueberry Imperial Blonde for $13.25, and Twisted Horn Raven’s Claw Apple & Boysenberry Mead for $11.75 all fall under this category! Beer at the Beer Garden! We sampled the Chihuahua Guava Lime Suprema Low-Cal Lager for $10.50. This one’s a very light and crisp beer with way more lime flavor than guava. It also had an oddly salty taste to it. We think it would have definitely benefited from a lime garnish, but it went down pretty smooth regardless! Chihuahua Guava Lime Suprema Low-Cal Lager STRONGER BEERS: Seeking something a little more intense? Then check out Paradise Beer Garden’s stronger stuff! Festival Beer Garden Menu Figueroa Mountain Point Conception IPA for $11.75 had a forward tropical flavor with a hint of pine. We thought it tasted like a hazier IPA than it actually is classified as. Figueroa Mountain Point Conception IPA Lost Winds Whirlpool Galaxy Double IPA for $11.75 has a malt flavor at its base with a layer of passion fruit over the top. It’s a sweet beer, but strong! Lost Winds Whirlpool Galaxy Double IPA Other stronger beer offerings include Smog City Little Bo Pils Unfiltered Pilsner for $11.75, and Founders Backwoods Bourbon Barrel-aged Scotch Ale for $15. Can’t choose only one (or two, or three…) Go with a Beer Flight for $16! In includes smaller portions of four of the beers we’ve described below annnnd they are: Ayinger Bräuweisse Hefeweizen (also available by the glass for $11.75) is a wheat beer with a lighter feel. It has a very yeasty flavor and was mild in comparison to the rest. We liked the complexity of some of the others better. Karl Strauss® Practice What You Peach Sour (also available by the glass for $13.25) is the only fruity beer in the flight and has a super sour taste. The peach flavor made it a little more palatable for us, but the fermented flavor and saltiness might be unpleasant if you aren’t a fan of this style of beer! Enegren Valkyrie Alt Bier (also available by the glass for $11.75) had a caramel flavor that came through straight away. It’s a darker amber color but feels good to drink. The aftertaste has more of a floral note to it. Allagash Black Stout (also available by the glass for $13.25) had a very smooth, espresso-like finish. We found it to be very tame flavor for being a black stout and we definitely picked up on some hints of chocolate. It’s super easy to drink but ultimately was pretty heavy. Definitely save some room for this one if you want it! Beer Flight All this beer should certainly help you cut through that fog of eating too much Food and Wine Festival food! What are we saying? There’s never enough food! In fact, we have a couple more stops to go, so let’s keep moving! It’s going down RIGHT NOW! Paradise Garden Grill We have been looking forward to its reappearance at the 2020 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival, so come along with us as we try out the returning and brand NEW items at the reimagined booth. Paradise Garden Grill The Impossible Meatball Submarine (with soy cheese) returns from last year and this plant-based sammy is $11.99 and will have you questioning how on earth it’s made from plants. Impossible No “Meat” Ball Submarine Another item returning to the menu this year is the Buffalo-style Roasted Turkey Leg with Celery Slaw and Blue Cheese. This gluten-friendly option is $12.99 and we love how the spice of the buffalo turkey is quickly cooled off by the creamy blue cheese dressing. Buffalo-style Roasted Turkey Leg with Celery Slaw and Crumbled Blue Cheese This year, we say goodbye to the pork tacos and welcome Beer-battered Fish Tacos with Karl Strauss® Follow the Sun Pilsner-infused Batter for $13.49. Beer-battered Fish Tacos This is a nice, light festival option and we loved the beautiful white pieces of fish and crunchy slaw. We were hoping for some oomph from the infused batter, but sadly there wasn’t a whole lotta extra flavor going on here. Beer-battered Fish Tacos Also new to the fest this year: brisket two ways! First, you can try the Brisket Sliders for $12.49. Brisket Sliders We enjoyed the flavors here- the brisket was delicious and the apple slaw gave it a nice tang- but we were hoping for just a wee bit more brisket (it was THAT good!). Brisket Sliders Good news! If you are looking for a crunchier vessel that’s LOADED with meat, try the Brisket Fries for $13.49! Brisket Fries Show me the meat! Behold, a heaping pile of brisket (way more than the sliders) on top of a mountain of fries! Absolutely delicious and we thought we got our money’s worth for sure. Brisket Fries For a sweet ending to your meal, you can once again pick up the Black Forest Parfait for $5.99. Black Forest Parfait HELLO beautiful layers of chocolate, vanilla, and cherry — welcome back! Drinks Paradise Garden Grill Menu Need something to balance out those salty and savory snacks? Don’t you worry because Paradise Garden Grill has plenty of drink options to keep you feeling hydrated. We’ve been looking forward to trying the new Watermelon Vodka Lemonade since this year’s menus were announced. Watermelon? Lemonade? AND Vodka? — Sounds like a great combo to us! And for $13.00, this gluten-friendly option is as refreshing as it sounds! Watermelon Vodka Lemonade The watermelon flavor here is strong, but not overpowering. You can definitely taste the vodka but it’s all well balanced in flavor! Look out, Berry Patch! You may have some competition with the new, non-alcoholic Berry Spectacular Cookie Shake for $6.99. It’s the perfect mix of sweet berries swirled into a cool, creamy shake! Berry Spectacular Cookie Shake It tastes just like the adorable frosted animal cracker that adorns it. It’s a welcome change from your typical milkshake. Berry Spectacular Cookie Shake If you’re looking a little stronger, you can pick up the returning Matanzas Creek’s Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma County for $11.00, Deschutes Pacific Wonderland Lager for $10.00, or Sudwerk Märzen Amber Lager for $10.00. We are thrilled to see Paradise Garden Grill returning this year because there are plenty of options for everyone in your party to choose from! While we might not order the brisket sliders again, the brisket fries definitely have us wanting to come back for more! Fiscalini White Cheddar Lager Soup from Nuts About Cheese A returning fave from last year (in fact it’s the ONLY item from our 2019 Best of the Fest that made it back!), is the Fiscalini White Cheddar Lager Soup. This dish comes served in a Mini Boudin Sourdough Bowl and is available at Nuts About Cheese for $6.75. Look, melty cheese is basically our kryptonite so you can’t blame us for putting this cheesy bowl of bready goodness back on the list. I mean just look at it! We’ll be getting this one again and AGAIN! Farmstand Punch from Off the Cob Off the Cob also had one of our favorite beverages — the Farmstand Punch! This drink is non-alcoholic costs $6. Not only is it super tasty, but visually-speaking, it totally reminds us of a gorgeous sunset! This little beauty costs $8 and comes topped with a citrusy Mimosa-inspired Slaw and OJ Bubbles! Yes, please!! The coating of the chicken was a little spicy and had a really nice crunch! The waffle was a little more on savory side to balance out the sweetness from the boba pearls. All in all, we really enjoyed the complexity of this dish! Brunch Fried Chicken and Waffle Sandwich Check out our full review of the rest of Golden Dreams’ menu HERE! Smoked Bacon Barbecue Beef Loco Moco on Rice from LA Style LA Style’s stand-out offering this year is their new Smoked Bacon Barbecue Beef Loco Moco on Rice! That’s right — LA Style’s Monkey Bread with Caramel Whiskey Glaze and Candied Pecans actually contains trace amounts of alcohol! Oikos Greek Yogurt Banoffee Tart from Nuts About Cheese It was love at first BITE when we dug into the Oikos Greek Yogurt Banoffee Tart for $6.25! Cluck-A-Doodle-Moo Cluck-A-Doodle-Moo is no stranger to our Best of the Fest List! We’ve been bestowing this booth’s sliders and wings with our highest honors for years now! This year, they’ve switched up their flavor profiles a bit with their selection of Ranch Fried Chicken Wings with a Buffalo Hot Sauce Drizzle for $8 and an updated version of their signature Beef Tenderloin Slider for $8.50 featuring a new sauce and caramelized onions. Both of these savory dishes along with the new Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch dessert for $6.50 were totally awesome. Were these new dishes better than their previous sliders and wings? Tough to say, but Cluck-A-Doodle-Moo is still one of our favorite booths to hit up at the fest! Cluck-a-Doodle-Moo Read our FULL REVIEW of EVERY ITEM at Disney California Adventure’s Cluck-A-Doodle-Moo Food and Wine booth! Avocado Time Avocado Time also really impressed us this year! Granted, our Petite Impossible Burger with Guac and Pepper Jack for $8 was a little tough and a bit too thick for our liking, but the amount of flavor they were able to pack into the little slider was pretty remarkable! Petite Impossible Burger with Guac and Pepper Jack Cheese And we thought the Tortilla-crusted Fried Guacamole with Carne Asada for $8.25 would definitely be a festival-repeat for us! 12. We’ve been making our way around Disneyland to snack on some magical treats and celebrate opening day of the park’s brand new parade, Magic Happens! Olaf, Anna, and Elsa We’ve already tried the Esquite Hot Dog, Island Pork Toasted Sandwich, Dulce de Leche Sundae, Día de los Muertos Hand Pie, and Sleeping Beauty Churros. Buuuut, it’s a good thing we’ve got our stretchy pants on ’cause we’re taking you with us for a full meal at Plaza Inn! Magic Happens has finally made its debut in the park and the Magic Happens Dining Package is coming along with it! If you want to relax and dine before the parade, your package will include a lunch entrée, a dessert, a beverage, a Plaza Inn credential, and a voucher that will give you access to the parade’s reserved viewing area. Magic Happens Dining Package The entrée includes fried chicken, short rib with chimichurri (which is like a garlic parsley sauce), corn relish, roasted seasonal vegetables (carrots at our visit), and pesto-infused mashed potatoes. If you’ve visited the Plaza Inn, you’ll know that their fried chicken is AH-MAZING. The breading was crisp, and the chicken inside was moist and flavorful. Plus, it paired super well with the carrots and corn relish. Magic Happens Meal But, our favorite vegetable happened to be those pesto-infused mashed potatoes! The basil and garlic flavors from the pesto melted into the buttery potatoes (and basically made us want an entire tub of these mashed potatoes). However, we wished we could have doubled up on the chicken or potatoes because we thought the short rib was kind of tough and chewy– but everything else was so good that we still enjoyed our plate! Magic Happens Meal At the end of your meal, you can indulge yourself with the Magic Happens Bundt Cake that would make Sorcerer Mickey proud! The drizzle on top was a sweet icing paired with whipped cream, chocolate ears, and a candy-covered sorcerer’s hat. Magic Happens Bundt Cake Although there was a lot going on in this bundt cake, it was very yummy! The blueberry filling in the middle of the bundt was tart compared to the sweetness of the rest of the treat, but we really enjoyed that flavor contrast! Magic Happens Bundt Cake Buuuut, you don’t have to reserve the Magic Happens Dining Package to have a treat at Plaza Inn! You can get a slice of a layer cake version of the bundt cake if you’re eating a regular meal at the restaurant too! Magic Happens Cake The Magic Happens Cake had that same blueberry filling from the bundt layered in between the vanilla cake, but the frosting reminded us more of the whipped frosting we’ve seen on other Plaza and Jolly Holiday treats! Honestly, we thought the Magic Happens Cake was just as good as the bundt (and we’d happily snack on either)! Magic Happens Meal And, if you’re booking the dining package with your kiddos, they will be served fried chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, corn relish, applesauce or baby carrots, a small Dasani water or small low-fat milk, and dessert (so everyone gets a taste of the magic!). The Magic Happens Dining Package costs $40 per adult and $25 per child. Magic Happens Guide Map While the food wasn’t incredibly unique, we’re ready for another round of fried chicken and pesto-infused mashed potatoes. This would likely be a good dining package for families with kiddos (helloooo chicken tenders) or parties looking for the meal-and-a-show experience, but who aren’t looking to invest in higher ticket experiences, like the World of Color dessert party. Overall, the Plaza Inn’s Magic Happens Dining Package is a great way to have a classic meal and catch the brand new parade in Disneyland! 13. Despite its name, Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival isn’t ALLL about food and wine — there’s plenty of beer too! In fact, you’d seriously be missing out if you didn’t swing by the California Craft Brews booth to try out some yummy local ales. California Craft Brews Booth As you might expect, this booth is a whole lot more about beer than anything else but there’s a tasty snack returning from last year AND a few wines too! But come on, we’re not gonna go to a booth called “Craft Brews” without trying some tasty selections of beer! Especially since this booth offers not one, but TWO new Beer Flights this year. Heck yes! Food Let’s start out by taking a look at the one and only food offering at this booth. It may be your only choice, but don’t despair because it’s a GOOD ONE. In fact, it made our BEST of the FEST list again this year! Check out the Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls for $7! These guys are a pretty solid bite and a really good companion to many of the beers you’ll have to choose from. Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls with Marinara and Pesto Sauce Beverages Speaking of which, BEER is where it’s AT at California Craft Brews! Check out the lengthy beverage menu at this booth! California Craft Brews Menu First up, we’re taking a look at a few of the new beer flights! These are perfect if you just can’t make up your mind when confronted with this many delicious brews at one time. There are two NEW flights for this year! The first is the Beer Flight Fun with Flavor for $15. This flight comes with Mother Earth Orange Vanilla Cali Creamin’ Ale, Black Market Cucumber Sour, Golden Road Strawberry and Pomegranate Balboa Blonde Ale, and Aftershock Guavaaah! Hazy Pale Ale. You can also have any one of these four beers by the glass for $11.75. See our tasting notes for each below! Beer Flight — Fun with Flavor 1: Mother Earth Orange Vanilla Cali Creamin’ Ale This one was oddly light and refreshing! It’s orange and vanilla flavors tasted just like a creamsicle soda you could get at Cracker Barrel! If ya know ya know. We’d recommend this one to non-beer drinkers! 2: Black Market Cucumber Sour Smells strongly of cucumber, with a salty, sour aftertaste. We weren’t in love with this one! 3: Golden Road Balboa Blonde with Strawberries and Pomegranate Very sweet and strawberry forward with a hint of pomegranate. The flavors were light, but the sweetness level would lead us to not want any more than the small cup of this stuff. The flight-size pour was just the right amount! 4: Aftershock Guavaaah! Pale Ale This one’s a good sweet pale ale. Nice fruit flavor to compliment the hops. If you like fruit-forward IPAs or Pales this is a good beer for you! California Craft Brews Beer Taps Don’t worry if fruity isn’t your thang either, the other option is the Beer Flight Bigger & Bolder for $15. This flight features Bootlegger’s Rocco Red Ale, Stereo Perfect Day IPA, Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing Hazy IPA, and Karl Strauss Wreck Alley Imperial Stout. You can also have any one of these four beers by the glass for $11.75. See our tasting notes for each below! Beer Flight — Bigger and Bolder 1: Bootleggers Rocco Red Ale Light, easy-drinking beer with a nice caramel malt flavor. Despite its rather hefty ABV (7.1%!) it drinks with less of an alcohol taste than we were expecting. There were also some pine and citrus notes that helped balance out the caramelly maltiness. 2: Stereo Perfect Day IPA This one had a strong hoppiness to it, but tasted like a very traditional IPA. 3: Sierra Nevada Hazy IPA Sweeter IPA with a more fruitier flavor but still the classic hop taste of an IPA. 4: Karl Stauss Wreck Alley Imperial Stout The strong flavor of this one has some rich chocolate and coffee undertones and a smooth, sweet finish! California Craft Brews Beer Taps Other offerings that come by the glass at this booth include the Backstreet La Calleja Mexican-style Lager for $11.75, Boomtown Ingenue Belgian White for $11.75. There are also TWO gluten-friendly drinks at this booth including the JuneShine Acai Berry Hard Kombucha for $11.75. This one was pretty polarizing amongst our group! Some of us dug it, while others weren’t fans. It has a very strong berry flavor, so we see some potential in you liking this one if you enjoy fruity beers or ciders. JuneShine Acai Berry Hard Kombucha, Gluten-Friendly The other gluten-free option is Divine Science Event Horizon Blonde for $11.75. If you don’t require a gluten-free beer, we’d recommend sticking with one of the regular blondes since those were a lot more flavorful. This one was rather plain and lackluster to us. Divine Science Event Horizon, Gluten-Friendly Blonde Another option is to opt for the Triple B Beer Cocktail for $13. And of course, there are plenty of places to snag wine at the fest, but California Craft Brews has its own options with Meiomi Rosé from California for $10, MacMurray Ranch Pinot Noir from Central Coast for $12, or Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon from California for $13. 14. We’re in heaven in Disneyland right now with all of the new treats they’ve unveiled for the Magic Happens Parade. Why were they keeping these away from us for so long? Magic Happens Parade We’ve already gotten our hands on the Island Pork Toasted Sandwich and the Esquite Hot Dog, but now we’re craving something sweet and we found the perfect treat on Main Street. We’re ready to give our sweet tooth a work-out on the new Dulche de Leche Sundae at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor. This baby comes with a double scoop of Dulce de Leche ice cream in a waffle cone bowl and is topped with bananas and caramel sauce. Whipped cream and a strawberry add in that classic sundae flair, but we’re still freaking out about the whole Mickey sugar cookie that comes in the sundae! Dulce de Leche Sundae The ice cream was nice and refreshing, perfect for cooling down in the California heat. Between the ice cream and the sugar cookie, there’s a lot of sweetness here, but the caramel helps balance the flavor by adding a little salty kick. We were excited to try the bananas, but, unfortunately, ours were hard and gummy! They almost tasted like plantains to us, so we had to double-check that they were actually bananas. Maybe we just got a bad batch, but the rest of the sundae was so good. Dulce de Leche Sundae You can try this yummy snack for yourself at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor for $6.99. 16. If you’ve ever been to a Disney Park, you’ll know that feeling of joy when you see the ducks waddling around (especially when Donald or Daisy joins them!). BOATHOUSE Patio And, we’re about to quack you up with the CUTEST drink swimming into Disney Springs! “Duck, Duck, Goose” might be a game from our childhoods, but The BOATHOUSE‘s new “Duck, Duck, Razz” is perfect for all the adults who are kids at heart! Duck, Duck, Razz The new drink is floating onto the menu, mixed up with blue curaçao, blueberry Stoli, raspberry Stoli, Peach Schnapps, lime juice, simple syrup, and fee foam with a mini rubber duck garnish! Rubber Duck BB Just Chillin’ Okay, before anything, we need to take a moment to admire Dolly Duck here (she’s a classy lady). She looks pretty fabulous with her long eyelashes and FIRE red lipstick as she relaxes on the bright blue drink. Get you a duck that can do it all, you guys. Dolly Duck Although we are OBSESSED with Dolly Duck (yes that’s what we’ve named her) on top, the “Duck, Duck, Razz” itself is so good that we’re shaking our tail feathers! Duck, Duck, Razz The berry flavor makes it taste like a spiked blue Jolly Rancher, and we are here for it!! But, don’t be fooled by the sweet appearance or flavor — this drink is strong (just like Dolly Duck, who is a strong and independent duck who don’t need no man). Dolly’s Just as Fabulous as This Drink All we can say is: Rubber Ducky, you’re the one!! You can get the “Duck, Duck, Razz” for $14 at The BOATHOUSE. And, it is WORTH. IT. 17. Vivoli il Gelato has been known to “shake up” our normal foodie routine at Disney World! Vivoli il Gelato And while earlier we found out there was a Mocha Caramel Shake for coffee and ice cream lovers, today we’re here to review their Mint Cannoli for all you mint and cheese lovers…??? Yeah. Super weird. But maybe, just maybe WE might find some love in our hearts for minty cheese! Who can say! It’s time to find out! We collected ourselves and entered Vivoli il Gelato with determination to try the Mint Cannoli! Mint Cannoli Ours turned out a little different from the image we saw on the sign. Looks like they subbed out the chocolate chips from the menu’s photograph for chocolate shavings instead. We found out you can get also get each end dipped in crushed pistachio pieces if you prefer! Mint Cannoli The mint chocolate chip cannoli cream is actually really yummy! It’s definitely on the minty side, but subtle enough where it didn’t overpower everything. The filling is a lot sweeter and less “cheesy” than the Minty Peppermint Cannoli we tried around the holidays while the cannoli shell itself was still perfectly crisp and crunchy! Mint Cannoli Nothing about this combination of flavors makes any sense, but we actually really enjoyed the Mint Cannoli! Try one for yourself for $6 now at Disney Springs! And when ya do please let us know your thoughts! Are you excited to try the Mint Cannoli? Let us know in the comments below! Related posts: NEW! 18. The time has arrived! The all-new “Magic Happens” parade debuts today at Disneyland park! Witness the stunning floats, artistic costumes, energetic musical score and of course, beloved Disney characters. This incredible daytime spectacular celebrates the awe-inspiring moments of magic that are at the heart of so many Disney stories. “Magic Happens” features nine newly designed floats, highlighting magic from classic Walt Disney Animation Studios tales such as “The Sword in the Stone,” “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty,” to more recent stories including “Frozen 2,” “Moana” and “The Princess and the Frog,” as well as Disney and Pixar’s “Coco.” The new floats were created as pieces of moving art, with their lines and aesthetic design working to tell a story along the parade route, while also evoking a sense of magic. In addition to the stunning floats, the parade route along Main Street, U.S.A., will be filled with dynamic performers and more than two dozen Disney and Pixar characters. The parade’s costume design draws inspiration directly from modern runways, making each costume look fashion-forward, yet uniquely Disney. Many performers and characters in “Magic Happens” will don all-new costumes, specifically made for this parade. While the music and stories seen in “Magic Happens” are rooted in iconic Disney lore, the soundtrack and choreography are heavily influenced by today’s pop culture designers, putting a contemporary spin on the classic Disney hits. “Magic Happens” features an energetic musical score and new songs, co-composed by singer-songwriter, Todrick Hall. Are you excited to see just how “Magic Happens”? Join us starting today at the Disneyland Resort! View the full article
  19. Okay, maybe it’s a little twisted, but watching Goofy and Pluto perform in the new Magic Happens parade at Disneyland today made us kinda hungry for a hot dog! Goofy & Pluto Who are we kidding? We’re ALWAYS hungry for hot dogs! And thanks to the brand new parade, there’s a new Magic Happens hot dog at Refreshment Corner to celebrate with! Refreshment Corner is serving up a spicy Esquite Hot Dog! Esquite is just a fancy term for toasted corn similar to the popular style of Mexican roasted corn known as elotes. Esquite Hot Dog As you can see, our foot-long hot dog came FULLY LOADED! It was covered with the esquite corn mix topped with crushed corn chips, cojita cheese, a charred green onion, and chili-cayenne powder, served with your choice of chips or fresh fruit. Esquite Hot Dog The hot dog tasted amazing while the cheesy corn topping was super spicy! It was packed with flavor and we especially enjoyed the texture and saltiness the nummy Frito chips brought to the party! Esquite Hot Dog Try the Esquite Hot Dog for $11.49 today and don’t forget that it is also offered on Mobile Order! And stay tuned while we review the rest of the Magic Happens treats (like the Coco-inspired Hand Pie!) that debuted today along with Disneyland’s newest daytime parade! 20. We’re basically big Disney fangirls over here for the new Magic Happens Parade (I mean, have you seen those amazing floats?!). Sleeping Beauty Float But, the foodies in us are even MORE excited for all the themed eats and treats around the park! While we’ve tried the Dia de los Muertos Hand Pie and Island Pork Toasted Sandwich, we’re snacking on a classic treat with a princess twist! The Sleeping Beauty Churros are twirling into the churro cart near the Sleeping Beauty Castle, just in time to celebrate the debut of Magic Happens! Sleeping Beauty Churros Since Flora and Merryweather can never decide on pink or blue, the churros come in two different flavors. The pink churro is cherry, while the blue is flavored blue raspberry. While the sugar on the churros was a bit too sweet for us, we still think these babies are yummy (you can’t go wrong with a Disney churro!). However, if we have to pick, we might say that the blue is better this time around! Sorry, Flora! Sleeping Beauty Churros The churros were light, fresh, and airy and can be found at the castle near Sleeping Beauty Castle for $5.75 each. Try them out and let us know your thoughts! Check out the rest of the Magic Happens treats in Disneyland here! So, are you going to paint it pink or paint it blue?? Check out more Disneyland Food Reviews Here!! 21. Guess who’s back, back again! DFB’s back with the allll the refurb closures you need to know about. Alright! Kermit Topiary March is coming and you know what that means — spriiiiiing break! That’s right, tons of people will be headed to Disney in the next few weeks to celebrate their time off schools (or their kiddo’s time off school). Still, just because the parks will be busy doesn’t mean that EVERYTHING will be open while the crowds explore. Here’s a list of all the attractions that will be closed for refurbishment this week (March 2nd through March 8th)! Refurbishments in Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World Railroad The shocker here, but the Lily Belle is still taking a rest. Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for months and we are waiting oh-so-patiently for it to be chugging along once more. The track was interrupted by construction over at TRON Lightcycle Run and as the coaster inches towards completion, the train is only available as a fun photo op at Fantasyland Station. TRON is expected to finish up sometime before Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in the Summer of 2021, but hopefully, the rails will be running before then. The Walt Disney Railroad Want more info on TRON Lightcycle Run? Click here! Refurbishments in Animal Kingdom Kali River Rapids A winter closure continues for Kali River Rapids as the high-maintenance water ride gets its yearly TLC. No worries though, we should be racing down the river again (and regretting it when we’re soaked afterward) on March 21st. Kali River Rapids Click here to learn more about the Kali River Rapids closure! Refurbishments in Disney World Water Parks Typhoon Lagoon Like Kali River Rapids, Typhoon Lagoon is closed right now as Disney gives it a nice cold weather break. Construction galore is taking place behind the scenes and we expect the park to reopen sometime around mid-March. Not too long now! ©Disney Refurbishments in Disneyland Haunted Mansion Wowza! So few refurbs in Disney World! Well, the same can’t be said for the west coast parks. Right now, classic attractions are closed for work left and right in Disneyland. For instance, the OG Haunted Mansion remains closed for some mystery updates. Oooooh! Whatever we are, we hope there’s still “room for one more” when the ride reopens in the Spring. Haunted Mansion Check out everything we know about the Haunted Mansion closure! Snow White’s Scary Adventures Which is scarier, Haunted Mansion or Snow White’s Scary Adventures? Well, now’s not the time to try to figure it out since BOTH attractions are currently closed. The Snow White dark ride is getting a super cool facelift — maybe even one that will make it less scary! It’s about time Disneyland Snow got her happily ever after. We’ll check out a new scene and a new vignette when Snow White’s Scary Adventures reopens at an unannounced date. Snow White’s Scary Adventures construction Click here to learn more about the changes coming to Snow White’s Scary Adventures! King Arthur Carrousel Just across the way in Fantasyland, King Arthur Carrousel is getting some touch-ups too. This is a truly historic attraction so we’re happy that it’s being kept in good shape. On the bright side, you can check out some history of the Carrousel on the construction barriers! The reopening date has yet to be announced. Fantasyland Construction Want to learn more about the Carrousel closure? Click here! Sailing Ship Columbia A new closure is hitting Disneyland this week too but this one is a shorty. The Sailing Ship Columbia will be docked from Monday (March 2nd) to Friday (March 3rd). These short closures are common for the Columbia so we’ll be sailing again soon! Sailing Ship Columbia Refurbishments in California Adventure Red Car Trolley Popping into Disney California Adventure reveals a few more closures. Like the Railroad in Disney World, the Red Car Trolley has also had its tracks interrupted by some major construction. As work on the Avengers Campus carries on, the Trolley is not running. Hopefully, it will reopen alongside the opening of the new land in the summer. Construction Wall Click here to learn more about the upcoming Avengers Campus! Jessie’s Critter Carousel And we’ve got a REOPENING — honestly our fave thing to see in our refurb updates! Jessie’s Critter Carousel has been behind barriers for a couple of weeks but it looks like we’ll be wrangling those critters again on Thursday, March 5th! Jessie’s Critter Carousel construction Want to know more about the refurb at Jessie’s? Click here! And there you have it, folks! 22. The team behind NBA Experience at Disney Springs looked across the country to find individuals whose lives have been touched by the game of basketball. Of the many inspiring accounts we discovered, three particular stories stood out that moved us to invite them and their families to live out their basketball dreams at NBA Experience. We’ve highlighted these heartwarming stories, the first of which you can check out below. It’s about two unique brothers who have bonded over the game. It was hard not to become overjoyed and filled with delight after meeting Jack and Vaughn. Basketball is the glue that brought their family together. From game watching becoming a household event to Vaughn even coaching his younger brother, Jack, who has Down syndrome, it was clear to see that their passion for basketball isn’t just leisure, it’s a lifestyle. That passion was as evident as ever when Jack and Vaughn stepped into NBA Experience. Pure joy lit up their faces as they excitedly made their way through 13 unique basketball activities that allow guests to feel like the pros do. If you’ve ever seen a kid in a candy store, you’ll understand the elation that Jack and Vaughn expressed. We had a hard time pulling them away from the Shoot activity—definitely one of their favorites. NBA Experience merges the thrills of the NBA with a touch of Disney magic. For Jack and Vaughn, it was also the catalyst to strengthen a family bond through the game of basketball. View the full article

  24. The Magic Happens Parade has officially debuted in Disneyland and now Disney has released a bunch of new treats to celebrate the occasion! Magic Happens Parade While we’ve already reviewed the NEW guava-filled Dia de los Muertos Hand Pie, it’s time to check out another Magic Happens offering at Jolly Holiday Bakery! Just look at this new Island Pork Toasted Sandwich! This beauty is made with kalua smoked pork, Black Forest ham, Monterey Jack cheese, pineapple relish, and cilantro. They had us in the first half with the kalua smoked pork and Black Forest ham, but then they sealed the deal with the cheese and we couldn’t say no! Island Pork Toasted Sandwich w/ house-made chips It also comes with a side of house-made chips for some extra crunch! House-made chips The pork and the ham we’re SO tender. The bread was also super killer y’all…very fresh and crusty and the pineapple relish added a little hint of sweetness to the sandwich, but never overpowered the tempting meats and cheese. Island Pork Toasted Sandwich Overall, we really enjoyed this sandwich! We’ll be kicking back on Main Street, U.S.A. with one of these babies whenever we can. If you want to try this new sammie for yourself, you can find it at Jolly Holiday Bakery for $10.99. You can also skip the line by using Mobile Order to pick it up.
