  1. Welcome to our tropical hideaway, you lucky people, you! Tropical Hideaway And while we’ve just stopped by this little Disneyland oasis to try their new PB & J Mochi and Sweet Lumpia that seems to be filling in for the establishment’s longtime popular Pineapple Lumpia, a brand new Dole Whip Float has just debuted! It hasn’t even been a week since The Tropical Hideaway updated its menu, but today we noticed the Orange Dole Whip has gone the way of the dodos and a new flavor has flocked in to fill its place — Lemon Dole Whip! The Tropical Hideaway’s Menu The Lemon Dole Whip can be served on its own or swirled with Raspberry Dole Whip since it shares a machine! It looks like the Orange Dole Whip has temporarily flown the coop, so sadly this means the Orange Pineapple Swirl Loaded Dole Whip has also departed, BUT the good news is a new Tropical Float has taken up its perch! The Tropical Hideaway’s Menu With a name truly befitting of The Tropical Hideaway, the new Tropical Float costs $7.99 and features a swirl of Raspberry and Lemon Dole Whip topped with pineapple, passion fruit, orange, and guava juice, finished with chopped pieces of strawberry, mango, and a candied kiwi! You’ll also find toasted coconut on the rim. Dole Whip Float Why, it’s ALMOST as stunning as Rosita, HERSELF! Of course, the Tropical Float doesn’t tell funny jokes like our gorgeous cockatoo friend does, but then again, we wouldn’t expect it to! Dole Whip Float All joking aside, though, eating the new Tropical Float is serious business! You’ll need the right tools to fully enjoy this thing! That’s why The Tropical Hideaway has come up with a brilliant idea to provide you with a free spork — that’s a 99 cent value add! Dole Whip Float Trusty (and free!) spork in hand, we plowed ahead! We actually really loved the new Tropical Float and thought it was a great, refreshing snack! The Lemon Raspberry Dole Whip is nice and tart while the fruit bits on top are super fresh and added a nice texture to the soft serve! For $7.99, we thought the price was on point (and did we mention the free spork part already? FREE!). Dole Whip Float We’ll be on the lookout to see if the Orange Dole Whip returns to The Tropical Hideaway, but for now check out the new Tropical Float along with the Lemon Dole Whip soft serve (which remember! You can get it swirled with Raspberry Dole Whip, too!). Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! 2. Now that March has begun, the hues coloring eats and drinks around Disney World are turning from February’s Valentine pinks and reds to the wearing o’ the GREEN in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. BoardWalk Joe’s And we’re kicking off the celebration a little early at BoardWalk Joe’s (on Disney World’s BoardWalk, of course) with the new Shamrockerita! Shamrockerita Not familiar with BoardWalk Joe’s? This charming kiosk serves up all sorts of “Marvelous Margaritas,” and the Shamrockerita brings together Don Julio Blanco Tequila, DeKuyper Pucker Sour Apple, agave, lime juice, and sweet-and-sour. Shamrockerita sign It’s all finished off with a slice of lime and a green sugar rim. Shamrockerita The very pronounced lime along with the sour apple give this tart drink its pucker. It’s a good choice for those who prefer a fruity drink without an overload on the alcohol flavor, and a fun sip to enjoy while taking in the BoardWalk’s lovely views… Shamrockerita And the Shamrockerita isn’t the only sign of spring around here… today begins a fun week of kicking off SPRING in Disney World! Guests can walk straight into Epcot from Disney World’s BoardWalk, and that’s where we’ll be reporting from starting this Wednesday, March 4th, for the start of the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival! We hope you’ll stay with us this week for all the season’s flowers, fun, and flavors! Would you like to try a Shamrockerita? Please let us know with a comment! 3. We’re seeing lots of green in Disney World right now, so that must mean it’s almost time for St. Paddy’s Day (and Epcot’s 2020 Flower and Garden Festival which kicks off this Wednesday!). Raglan Road We’ve already got March 13th blocked off for the start of Raglan Road’s Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival, but now another Disney Springs location is getting into the spirit with two new Irish-inspired menu offerings! Speaking of “patties day“, D-Luxe Burger is serving up a Dubliner Burger for $13.49! D-Luxe’s Menu It features a Signature-blend beef patty with Dubliner cheddar, corned beef, shoestring fried onions, Irish Stout Barbecue Sauce, lettuce, and grilled onions on top. Dubliner Burger This thing is sooooo good. In fact, if we found the Dubliner Burger at the end of the rainbow instead of a pot of gold, we wouldn’t even be mad about it! The saltiness from the corned beef mixed with that sweetness from the bbq sauce was off the hook! We thought the caramelized onions and burger patty were also packed with tons of flavor. Dubliner Burger But wait — there’s MORE! D-Luxe is also pouring an Irish Cream Gelato Shake for $7.50! Deluxe’s Menu Um yeah, we’ll just go ahead and order a couple more of these right now! While this Irish Cream Gelato Shake looked a little too Christmas-y for our liking (except for the occasional BLUE sprinkles mixed in with our red and green jimmies) the shake had a super prominent Irish Cream taste! Irish Cream Gelato Shake Even though the Irish Cream Gelato shake is non-alcoholic, we definitely walked away from it feeling like a little luck had rubbed off on us! There were subtle notes of toasted marshmallow and it went awesome with the burger! Irish Cream Gelato Shake If you’re looking to add a few more delightful St. Paddy’s day eats to your Disney World itinerary, check out Raglan Road’s St. Patrick’s Festival Whiskey Pairing Dinner here! 4. For a limited time beginning March 20, guests visiting Disney Parks will get an early glimpse of scenes from Disney’s epic new adventure, “Mulan.” Sneak peeks of the film will be shown in the Tomorrowland Theater at Disneyland park, as part of the Walt Disney Presents attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and aboard Disney Cruise Line during select sailings in late March. An all-new sequence featuring “Mulan” will also be incorporated into the nighttime projection show, “Disney Movie Magic,” when it returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a limited run, beginning March 13. “Disney Movie Magic” is a cinematic nighttime experience that transforms the park’s iconic Chinese Theater with state-of-the-art projection mapping technology, placing guests in the middle of a celebration of films from the Disney family of studios. Acclaimed filmmaker Niki Caro brings the epic tale of China’s legendary warrior to life in Disney’s “Mulan,” in which a fearless young woman risks everything out of love for her family and her country to become one of the greatest warriors China has ever known. Here’s a special message from two of the stars of the film, Yifei Liu and Yoson An, who play Mulan and Honghui: Disney’s “Mulan” arrives in theaters on March 27, 2020. View the full article
  5. Although Baymax is no longer greeting at the Epcot Character Spot, he’s just shown up somewhere else at Disney World! Epcot Character Spot sign And while he kinda reminds us of the Big Hero 6 Cupcake we saw years ago at Hollywood Studios when the film was first released, this version is waaay cuter! Quite frankly, we love how BayMax’s amply proportioned inflatable body is perfectly suited to being recreated out of frosting! We totally wanna try this at home with a piping bag! (Look at those little arms!) Baymax Cupcake But looks aside, it’s time to get down to business! This little cutie is a chocolate cupcake with a thick raspberry filling topped with a mountain of vanilla frosting — a.k.a Mount Baymax! He IS a national treasure, after all! Baymax Cupcake We’re hoping to be completely satisfied with our care when we dig into this thing! Baymax Cupcake And we certainly were! The rich, chocolatey cupcake is super moist and tasty! Meanwhile, the raspberry filling has a jelly-like consistency and helps cuts through the sweetness of all that frosting on top! There’s just something we love about a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting — it’s such a classic pairing! And being the big Big Hero 6 fans that we are, we’re giving him a solid 8, for being yummy and so darn adorable! Baymax Cupcake We found the Baymax Cupcake chillin’ out at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort today. He costs $5.49, so look for him at the End Zone Food Court if you wanna rate him yourself! And if you’re headed off to Hollywood Studios soon to snag your Boarding Pass for Rise of the Resistance, learn about the new breakfast options at ABC Commissary and The Milk Stand in Galaxy’s Edge HERE! 7. Chances are you’ve been following the news concerning the coronavirus very closely lately, especially if you have travel plans already for booked spring break or are thinking about heading to California or Florida for an upcoming vacation. Walt Disney World And while we don’t know what precautionary measures Disney will take if the infection continues to spread in the U.S., we’ve been contacted by numerous readers who are deeply concerned about Disney World and Disneyland and what they’re doing in regard to the Coronavirus threat. Today, we’re sharing what we currently know in the hopes that it will help our readers. This post will be updated regularly as we get more information. Park Closures Shanghai Disneyland was the first park to close on January 25th, 2020, due to the coronavirus outbreak. Hong Kong Disneyland closed on January 26th, 2020. And just last weekend we saw Toyko Disney Resort follow suit. Tokyo DisneySea Chandu Tail The decision to close the parks was made after local governments issued public warnings to postpone or cancel any large assemblies until the virus could be contained. It is important to note that these three overseas parks aren’t completely controlled by The Walt Disney Company like the U.S. parks. The Disneyland Hotel At the time of this posting, Disney World and Disneyland are still open and have not indicated any upcoming closures. How Coronavirus is Impacting Travel So Far So far, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has only advised avoiding all non-essential travel to China, South Korea, Italy or Iran at this time. Coronavirus is also spreading in Japan, but currently, the CDC is only advising adults with pre-existing chronic medical conditions to postpone their travel plans to Japan. You can check the CDC’s current risk assessment level by each country here. Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Where to Check for Coronavirus Updates Regarding the U.S. Disney Parks Although Disney World and Disneyland have yet to release any official statement regarding what precautions they’ll be taking to prevent the spread of coronavirus, we recommend checking the Florida Department of Health for Disney World, and The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health for Disneyland. Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland As of today, Disney World and Disneyland are not running screenings of guests entering the parks. For official Disney World or Disneyland statements, please follow our DFB newsletter as we’ll be covering every update. You can also check the Disney World and Disneyland websites, where we’re sure they’ll be posting any updates they have. What is Coronavirus and How is it Commonly Spread? Coronavirus, also referred to as COVID-19, was first identified as an outbreak in Wuhan, China. It most commonly causes mild upper-respiratory tract illnesses, although there are numerous types of coronavirus. The disease at this time is thought to spread from person-to-person through droplets expelled through the air by infected persons or transferred from surfaces (similar to the flu). These droplets can either be inhaled or enter through your eyes, mouth, or nose. Hollywood Studios Currently, it is believed the disease is most transmittable while a person is symptomatic. Since coronavirus symptoms present themselves very similarly to the common flu or cold virus, people who are sick should avoid the general public to prevent transmitting the illness. How Can I Protect Myself From Coronavirus? To avoid contracting coronavirus, the CDC recommends staying 6 feet away from individuals who are sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching and rubbing your eyes, nose, and mouth. If you are feeling unless or are symptomatic, stay home. Cover your mouth when coughing and cover your nose when sneezing (ideally with a tissue that you can dispose of afterward). Clean and disinfect the objects you touch with household cleaning products. People who are well don’t need to wear face masks (masks are not effective at preventing the virus from getting to you), but health workers who may come in contact with coronavirus and sick persons who show symptoms should wear them to prevent spreading the disease. Grizzly River Run Reopens! Hand washing is also super important. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water especially before eating and after using the restroom. If you cough, blow your nose with a tissue, or sneeze into your hands and wash them immediately. The CDC also recommends the use of an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol (FYI Purell is 70% alcohol, so if you have purell at home that will work just fine). Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom Can Coronavirus Be Treated or Prevented? There is no vaccine for coronavirus at this time, but if you’re concerned you may have contracted or come in contact with the disease, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately. Epcot Flower and Garden Festival What Else Should I Know? As of this morning, Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a public health emergency for the state of Florida after two residents have tested “presumptively” positive for coronavirus and have been isolated. As of March 1st, there are a total of 40 positive cases of coronavirus in California, although the California Public Health Department maintains the health risk to the general public remains low. We know our readers and viewers are very concerned about the events surrounding coronavirus. The most important thing to remember is not to panic. Be diligent in covering your nose when sneezing and your mouth when coughing, and wash your hands regularly — especially before eating. Also, if you feel ill, stay home. We don’t know what the outcome of this disease will be here in the States yet, but we’ll keep you updated if and when Disney makes any official statements. 8. Yer a wizard, Harry! (Er… wait! Wrong theme park!) Disney Springs Although we might not be at Hogwarts (whoops), you can still become a wizard in Disney Springs with this magical workshop! While this has been around for a little while, we thought we’d take a closer look at all the magic things you can take home. Thanks to our friend @aleyafromdisney, we were told that, instead of the wand choosing you, the Crystal Wish Keepers at the Arribas Bros. lets you create your own special wand that’s unique to you! Crystal Wish Keepers When you enter the store, you can choose whether you want to fill a wand or one of the other crystal keepers (like a carriage, Aladdin’s lamp, Cinderella’s glass slipper, or Mickey’s glove). Buuuut, we’re going to show you how to make a wand, just like Sorcerer Mickey’s! Crystal Wish Keepers Once you’ve chosen your wand, you get to design what goes inside, almost like a Build-A-Bear! You pick a gem or crystal and make a wish before it’s put inside your wand. Time to Build a Wand! Then, you can add different crystals representing things like good luck or true love to fill the wand before it’s sealed with a topper! While you can choose a Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat (the obvious choice), there are also other themed crystal toppers available to make your wand perfect for your taste. Symbolic Crystals Depending on the customization you use on your wand or crystal keeper, the price can range from $50 to $75. Now, it is important to note that these items are made of glass, so you may want to keep a close eye if you’re giving these to your little ones! This can be a SUPER fun way to spend the day with your family or friends! And, you’ll even get to bring home a bewitching keepsake from your vacation in Disney World (so it sounds pretty worth it). 20. With the quest for boarding groups calling for an early wake-up call, we often find ourselves hunting for new breakfast options in Hollywood Studios. ABC Commissary And, ABC Commissary has our backs because it’s now opening its doors for BREAKFAST! But, how will these morning menu options compare to the NEW breakfast items over in Batuu? Let’s find out! Although we’ve seen some of these items already at the Early Morning Magic event in Toy Story Land, ABC Commissary is bringing back old favorites mixed with some brand new goodies! ABC Commissary Breakfast Menu Rolling out today, the Bakery Sampler is the one of the latest options for guests who want to start their morning off on a sweet note. Bakery Sampler The sampler comes with five different bakery items, including Banana Bread… Banana Bread …a Blueberry Muffin… Blueberry Muffin …a Cinnamon Roll… Cinnamon Roll …an Apple Crumble Pastry… Apple Crumble Pastry …and a Croissant. The flaky pastry on the Croissant was buttery and had a slight crunch with every bite. It tasted like a typical Disney Croissant (but we’re not complaining!). Croissant While the Banana Bread had some nice flavors and a balance of soft bread with the crunch of the seeds, the pastry was a bit too dry for our taste. It didn’t have that moisture that we normally LOVE in Banana Bread! Banana Bread The Cinnamon Roll pastry also bummed us out as it was a little dry (although it’s hard to compete with the Cinnamon Roll at Gaston’s Tavern)! However, the cinnamon and sugar flavors layered throughout the treat are super yummy!! Cinnamon Roll Now that we’re dreaming about cinnamon rolls, check out our favorite Disney Cinnamon Rolls here! Our least favorite of the treats happened to be the Blueberry Muffin. The pastry had a grainy texture — almost like it was made with wheat flour or corn flour. We hoped the blueberries would add a burst of flavor or moisture to the treat, but ours didn’t have enough throughout to do the trick. But we press on! We do have five different options, after all! Blueberry Muffin At last, our perseverance was rewarded! The Apple Crumble Pastry was definitely the winner of the plate! The pastry was a slightly more moist than the rest of the Bakery Sampler and had a nice crumbly top. In addition to the apple flavors, there were notes of cinnamon throughout the treat, almost making it taste like an Apple Cinnamon Pound Cake! Can we just have five of these?? Apple Crumble Pastry We think that the Bakery Sampler would have been better if there were jelly to go along with it, but there wasn’t any when we ordered. However, syrup and butter will be available soon for guests to dip their pastries in! Since this is $7.99 and it comes with 5 different pastries, it would be a great light breakfast option for multiple people. However, if you’re looking for a more substantial bakery treat, you may want to head over to Trolley Car Cafe instead. ABC Commissary Breakfast Spread! Making its grand return, the Shrimp and Cheddar Grits are BACK with a whole mix-up of spicy flavors for $10.99! Shrimp and Cheddar Grits Out of all the ABC Commissary breakfast options, this was definitely our favorite! The grits were SUPER cheesy (the best part, duh), and went wonderfully with the shrimp. The sausage was tender and flavorful with the spicy kick from the peppers and onions! Shrimp and Cheddar Grits And, it came in a pretty big serving so you can share with your family or friends before you hop on Rise of the Resistance! Shrimp and Cheddar Grits Avocado Toast has become a pretty iconic breakfast dish in this day and age, so it’s no surprise that ABC Commissary is jumping on the trend bandwagon! Smashed Avocado Toast and Egg Buuut, we really wanted to see some more flavor! The egg was plain (so a little salt or pepper could really help out)… Smashed Avocado Toast and Egg …while the avocado had a LOT of lime mixed in! It tasted more like a lime spread than avocado. We thank you, limes, for keeping our guacamole green– but we were expecting avocado toast, not guacamole toast! Smashed Avocado Toast and Egg The salad was fresh but ours didn’t have much dressing. So, you won’t be fooled: you are definitely still eating salad. Next time, we may try and ask for a little more dressing to drown, er, drizzle the greens. We appreciated the heaping portion of greens, though, for this $9.99 breakfast. Smashed Avocado Toast and Egg We love us some Chicken and Waffles for breakfast, and the Fried Chicken and Cinnamon Sugar French Donut served with Sweet Potato Bites for $8.99 is the chefs’ twist on the popular meal. Fried Chicken and Cinnamon Sugar French Donut The made in-house “french donuts” were sweet and had a lovely flaky consistency (think: a croissant, but fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar… croissant + donut = Disney’s take on a Cronut!). Fried Chicken and Cinnamon Sugar French Donut The chicken tenders were crunchy, flavorful, and had a slight spiciness to them (and we would have even been game for more heat!). The kick of flavor from the savory chicken balances out the sweetness from the maple syrup, donut, and sweet potato. Fried Chicken and Cinnamon Sugar French Donut Pro tip: The next time we order this, we think it would be a GREAT idea to grab some extra maple syrup glaze on the side for some tot dunking action! Fried Chicken and Cinnamon Sugar French Donut If you’re looking for more returning eats, you can grab the Breakfast Charcuterie Platter for $10.99… Breakfast Charcuterie Platter …with Smoked Salmon, Chopped Hard-boiled Egg, Whipped Cream Cheese, Pickled Red Onions, Capers, Debreziner Sausage, Cured Salami, and Capicola Ham with Seasonal Dressed Greens and Crostini. Breakfast Charcuterie Platter Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Eggs for $9.49 (which also comes in a plant based version!)… Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Egg Bowl … with Fresh Corn, Black Beans, Caramelized Onions, Poblano Peppers, Chorizo, and Rancho Sauce with House-fried Tortillas, Pico de Gallo, Avocado, and Queso Fresco topped with Scrambled Eggs and Cilantro Cream. Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Eggs Bowl For the little ones, try the Children’s Fried Chicken and Cinnamon-Sugar French Donut for $6.99… Kids’ Fried Chicken and Cinnamon Sugar French Donut …or the Children’s Scrambled Eggs and Sweet Potato Bites for $5.99! Kids’ Scrambled Eggs If you need a quick bite to fuel your morning, ABC Commissary’s breakfast options can be some great picks for the price! We especially enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits and we would gladly eat Sweet Potato Bites with any meal. The portions are big enough to share (or to keep all for yourself) before you explore everything else Hollywood Studios has to offer! Chicken and donuts then Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, anyone?? Check out our full review of the NEW breakfast items over in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge HERE! 21. We’ve been OBSESSED with the designs of the new ABC Disney Collection we spotted in Disney World! ABCDisney Collection The mugs and trinket boxes have now been popping up in Disneyland too! While we were at the World of Disney in Downtown Disney, we just happened to notice that a few of the letters have different artwork than the ones in Disney World! Let’s find out if YOUR letter got a makeover! Since we’re over in Disneyland, the C Mug is taking on a new look with hues of pinks and rose to showcase Sleeping Beauty Castle! Sleeping Beauty Castle Mug And, it’s no surprise that this $14.99 mug is a lil different from the blue Cinderella Castle version in Disney World (we still love you too, Cindy!)! Sleeping Beauty Castle Mug While Magic Kingdom has the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train with Grumpy and the gang, Disney California Adventure has the Grizzly River Run… GRR Grizzly River Run Mug …which can make a visit to the park GRReat!! GRR Grizzly River Run Mug You can hop into a safari ride at the Kilimanjaro Safaris in Animal Kingdom, ooor you can travel like royalty on the King Arthur Carousel in Disneyland! King Arthur Carousel Mug Do you have a favorite horse to ride on the carousel?? King Arthur Carousel Mug Also in Animal Kingdom, the L Mug celebrates the Festival of The Lion King with plenty of influence from African culture. Buuut, we’re taking things to Route 66 in Disney California Adventure with Lightning McQueen… Lightning McQueen Mug …inspired by the Radiator Springs section of the park! Ka-Chow!! Lightning McQueen Mug While both parks have Main Street, U.S.A. with horse-drawn carriages like the M Mug in Disney World depicts, Disneyland also has the Matterhorn Bobsleds for guests to escape the Abominable Snowman. Matterhorn Bobsleds Mug It’s a good thing those quick twists and turns really help us with our getaway! Matterhorn Bobsleds Mug Both N Mugs in Disney World and Disneyland are inspired by Finding Nemo. Buuut, while Florida has The Seas with Nemo and Friends, California is making a splash with the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage… Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage Mug …which takes guests on a journey under the sea to visit all their favorite fish friends! Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage Mug While you can stroll around the World Showcase in Epcot, the World of Color is a water show filled with music, lights, and projections nestled in Pixar Pier. World of Color Mug Honestly, we just don’t get tired of the mesmerizing show (which means we won’t get tired of using this adorable mug either!). World of Color Mug Back in the Asia at Animal Kingdom, guests narrowly evade the Yeti on Expedition Everest. However, Disneyland takes us on a different kind of enchanted journey into imagination with Mickey and the Magical Map! Yensid and Sorcerer’s Workshop Mug Mickey must learn the secret of the map to become a world painter along with the rest of sorcerers in Yensid’s workshop! We believe in you, Mickey!! Yensid and Sorcerer’s Workshop Mug Just like the C Mug and the M Mug, Disneyland’s version of both Trinket Boxes are also different from Disney World’s! The Sleeping Beauty Castle Trinket Box is $17.99 and features the same design from the mug… Sleeping Beauty Castle Coaster …with a pink bottom, instead of a blue one! Sleeping Beauty Castle Coaster And, the Matterhorn Bobsleds Trinket Box has guests on a winding adventure through the snowy mountains like the mug does… Matterhorn Bobsleds Trinket Box …with an icy blue bottom, perfect for the attraction! Matterhorn Bobsleds Trinket Box We LOVE the fact that each of the Disney Parks has their own unique twist on the ABCDisney Collection. It just means that we’re going to have to grab them all!! 23. While getting to Disney’s Hollywood Studios early enough to snag a Rise of the Resistance boarding group takes a lot of commitment — it also sometimes means skipping out the door without any breakfast! Milk Stand in Disney World And recently the Black Spire Outpost has been infiltrated by more hungry travelers than First Order Stormtroopers! But Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has heard the cry of our growling stomachs and is responding with this unique solution: the Milk Stand is now serving breakfast! Of all the spots to grab a quick bite on Batuu, we weren’t exactly expecting the Milk Stand to step forward. After all, this kiosk has really only specialized in one thing until this moment — milk. (Well, two things if you count green milk and blue milk as their own separate entities!) Alcoholic Blue and Green Milk But starting today, you can find three unique breakfast entrées (that are also snack-credit eligible!!) at the Milk Stand! Just like many of the meals you’ll find in Galaxy’s Edge, they have interesting galactic names — and we wanted to try them all! First up, the Saka Farm Egg Bite for $6.99! Featuring egg whites, a spicy tomato sauce, feta cheese crumbles, and garlic bread crumbs — this is the Milk Stand’s most savory A.M. option! Saka Farm Egg Bite The egg was cheesy and cooked well while the spicy tomato sauce definitely brought some heat! It might not be the best option if you don’t like spicy foods, but we thought it paired well with the garlic crumbles on top! Saka Farm Egg Bite It’s no Ronto Wrap, but for a snack credit, we thought this was a small, yet filling start to the day! Next on the docket — Milk Stand’s Wamba Yogurt Cup for $6.49! This one’s made with a plant-based coconut milk yogurt, green milk, and seasonal fruit. Wamba Yogurt Cup We have to admit, we had pretty low expectations for this one because we aren’t the biggest yogurt fans — but we were pleasantly surprised! The yogurt was tart and we enjoyed tasting the fresh mint throughout. Wamba Yogurt Cup Making plant based yogurt sounds like no easy task, so we thought they did a great job offering another plant-based option! And now, the item we were most intrigued by — the Green Milk Bread Pudding! Also $6.49 this is made with sweet bread cooked in cardamom, honey, and green milk. Now you can have your Green Milk, AND eat it too! Green Milk Bread Pudding The bread pudding is topped with a thicker, almost pudding-like version of the green milk that comes in the glass and sweet, crumbly streusel pieces that we thought were the star! Green Milk Bread Pudding The Bread Pudding itself was moist and had hints of the green milk flavor that weren’t too overpowering! If you’re a fan of green milk and bread pudding, this may be the perfect breakfast for you! But if green milk isn’t your jam, there’s no hiding it in this snack. Need something to wash that Green Milk Bread Pudding down? Great news! Although we didn’t see it listed on the menu, the Milk Stand is also pouring up fresh coffee in the morning! Milk Stand Coffee This “secret menu item” turned out to be a classic black coffee but there were creamers and sweeteners nearby if you want to spruce it up! Milk Stand Coffee Bar The Milk Stand’s new breakfast options definitely had us feeling like we were eating in a galaxy far far away! While they may be a little far-fetched for younglings or someone searching for a classic breakfast, adventurous travelers might just find something to love! 24. It can happen to the best of us. And it can strike at any time. It might begin the day you fly in or while you’re waiting in line for Splash Mountain. Cinderella Castle You get that telltale little tickle in the back of your throat that gradually gets worse and worse. Before you know it you’re aching everywhere then SO HOT then suddenly SO COLD. Yep…you got sick on your big Disney vacation. OF COURSE, you or a loved one would get struck down on the Disney World vacation you’ve been looking forward to for months — or even years! After all, you’ve had to save so much money to get here, and now you’re at THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH. But instead of wishing on a star, you’re wishing you could crawl into bed and stay there for days. Walt Disney World But all is not as bleak as it seems! Here’s a little something we’ve picked up from getting sick at Disney World more than a few times over the decades — a bug doesn’t have you ruin your entire trip! On a recent visit to Disney World, my son and I both got sick, had to go to Urgent Care, and had to figure out how to get prescription medication…all around managing FastPasses and dining reservations. Luckily our illnesses weren’t contagious, so we were able to keep riding rides and enjoying Disney World safely…but first we had to start feeling better! The Screendoor General Store at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn SO, if dreaded illness strikes, what do you do? Read on for tips on how to handle when this not-so-magical occurrence happens while on vacay in Disney World. Here’s some advice on what to do if you or a companion gets sick at Disney World. How can you recover at Disney World? As hard as this seems, staying back at your resort until you’re feeling better makes the most sense. Yes, you’ll miss out on some of the fun, but if you get some good rest you’ll likely start feeling better sooner than if you push yourself from rope drop to fireworks. You also want to make sure you’re not contagious before you’re around other guests to prevent others from getting sick. Crowded Magic Kingdom Think about how many handrails, doors, counters, etc. you’d touch at Disney World on any given day. Limiting your exposure to others is likely your best course of action. Even if your ailment isn’t contagious, like food poisoning, a migraine, or an ear infection or respiratory issues, consider hanging back to get some much-needed rest. How can you get over-the-counter medication at Disney World? If you start to feel unwell while you’re at one of the theme parks, locate the First Aid Center. Each Disney World park has one and you can receive free remedies for minor ailments. Also, if you find yourself feeling particularly ill, you can head to a First Aid Center where nurses on staff are equipped to monitor your condition. Epcot First Aid Sign Gift shops in the parks (and Disney World resorts) also stock a relatively wide selection of pain relievers, cold medicine, allergy relief, stomach relief, and other treatments. Gift Shop Options Should you get back to your Disney World resort late at night after the gift shop has closed and you require over-the-counter medication, contact the front desk and a Cast Member will usually be able to sell you what you need to feel better. Saratoga Springs Resort — A Disney Vacation Club Resort How can you get prescription medication at Disney World? For ailments requiring a prescription from a physician, there are several options that you can download from the App Store to have a “virtual doctor visit” without having to leave your room. Check with your insurance provider to see if they recommend one, or pay out of pocket to see a doc. We recommend finding a good virtual doctor visit app that takes your insurance before you leave. (We found a great one hosted by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan that happened to take our insurance, and we’ve used it multiple times on trips — including to get prophylactic Tamiflu for ourselves when my son was diagnosed with the flu while on a vacation). You can also go to a hospital or urgent care center. These are plentiful in the Orlando area. You’ll usually end up at Celebration Hospital for an emergency room visit; and CentraCare is a popular urgent care solution. Again, it’s best to check with your insurance company before traveling to one of these health care facilities to see if your visit will be covered. When we were sick in Disney World, we visited an urgent care center and received prescriptions for our medicine. Knowing we had an Epcot dining reservation that evening and wouldn’t have time to wait at a pharmacy (again, our ailments weren’t contagious), we contacted Turner Drugs, a pharmacy delivery option who we knew would accept prescriptions and deliver them to our resort for a fee (our free was $9…significant, but worth it). But what we DIDN’T KNOW is that Turner Drugs will also deliver prescriptions to the FIRST AID LOCATIONS IN THE PARKS! have your prescriptions delivered right to the park! This was a HUGE benefit, since we didn’t have to cancel our reservations to hang around the hotel all night for the delivery. Instead, we headed to our Epcot dining reservation and picked up our prescriptions at the First Aid location in Epcot after the meal! Super convenient! All you have to do is be sure to give the prescription order to the First Aid cast member, and they’ll pass it along to the Turner Drugs rep the next time they’re delivering. It’s genius — and so, so convenient! Don’t Miss Meeting Mickey — get your prescriptions delivered to the park! Note that Turner Drugs does not work with any insurance plans. They will give you an itemized receipt and universal claim forms that you can handle with your insurance once home. So expect to pay more for meds than you would at your local pharmacy back home. You Can Get Your Prescriptions Sent Here! If you don’t want to use a delivery service, keep in mind you can always hop in an Uber, Lyft, or other rideshare service in the area for a quick trip to a pharmacy if you prefer to pick up prescriptions yourself. There are many pharmacies located just outside of Disney World Property a quick ride away. Coronado Springs Front Desk How can I get other necessities without leaving my Disney World resort? Well, technology is awesome when it comes to things like this. Apps like Instacart can help you get creature comforts you need to recover (including foods or personal care items from places such as CVS, Target, Publix, and Costco), while Amazon Prime Now, Shipt, and Walmart Delivery can also get you on the road to recovery! Just check with your resort to see if there are any fees for holding packages, and make plans for that extra cost. How can I get better quickly? The key to recuperating for us has been to stay in the air-conditioned comfort of our rooms (or if you must get some fresh air, at least stay out of the direct sun!) and drink lots AND LOTS of water! Water Stations! You also have to keep yourself well-fed, which luckily isn’t very hard at Disney World! Most resorts offer some type of room service, or you can always use popular food delivery apps like Uber Eats, Grub Hub, DoorDash, or Postmates to bring you a meal. You can even order from some of the restaurants at Disney Springs on Postmates — they just might take a really long time to get to you! Earl of Sandwich via Postmates But hey, if you’re holed up without anything better to do, why not munch on some Earl of Sandwich while you binge-watch Mickey shorts back at your room? Check out what happened when we tried to order Disney World food to our hotel here! How can I avoid getting sick at Disney World in the first place? If you aren’t sick (and looking to stay that way), you can take steps to prevent picking up an illness while at Disney World. It’s hard to stick to your regular sleep schedule and normal diet on a Disney World trip with how many things there are to see, do, and EAT! But if you can keep yourself well-rested, clean, and hydrated, you’ll stand a much better chance of not getting ill. Get Lots of Rest! Remember to wash your hands ALL THE TIME, but especially before eating! Carry some hand sanitizer for use on the go. We’re especially big fans of individually-wrapped towelettes to clean our hands or wipe down any surfaces we’re about to eat on. Maybe that sounds a little extreme, but trust us! Star Wars Hand Sanitizers If you’re sensitive to dry air, pack a travel-size humidifier to keep your room comfortable and prevent any respiratory conditions from being exacerbated by the hotel AC blasting. Remember to rinse off before and after swimming, too! Port Orleans French Quarter Pool Although you can’t fully prevent you or a family member from getting sick at Disney World, you CAN keep the good times rollin’! While you might not be used to having downtime or resort days on your Disney World vacations, you might actually find you enjoy the slower pace! Besides, being at Disney World sure beats being at work, so enjoy the time off and get. enough. REST! Your body and mind (and attitude) will be better for it. Here’s hoping this helped YOU to prepare for your upcoming Disney World adventure. You can’t always keep illness at bay, but you can prepare for it just in case!
