  2. One year ago, we celebrated the momentous dedication of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort. After decades of collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge officially opened to Disneyland park guests on May 31, 2019. Star Wars icons George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams joined Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger for the historic dedication ceremony in front of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon. As the largest single-themed land expansion in Disney history, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge invites you to live your own Star Wars adventures in a galaxy far, far away. Take control of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run or join a climactic battle between the Resistance and the First Order in Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (opened Jan. 17, 2020). While exploring this expansive 14-acre land, sample galactic food and drink, enter an intriguing collection of merchant shops and encounter aliens, droids and other inhabitants on the planet Batuu. 4. Disney Springs has been reopening its restaurants for guests to get their eatin’ and drinkin’ on while they’re visiting! Terralina Crafted Italian Although we’ve been taking you with us to try some great food (Buri Bop is the BOMB), we’re back for a little slice of Italy at Terralina Crafted Italian! Terralina Crafted Italian is owned by James Beard Award Winning Chef, Tony Mantuano, and themed after his love of Lake Como, Italy. Checking In Before you enter the restaurant, there are social distancing markers on the ground to wait behind… Terralina Crafted Italian …and a few on the inside to remind guests to keep 6 feet apart from one another. Distancing Sticker The hostess is inside currently, so guests can either check-in for their reservation or wait for a table on stand-by. Hostess While you’re waiting, Terralina has hand sanitizer placed around the restaurant for guests and Cast Members to use. Waiting Area You can also pop over to the indoor bar… Indoor Bar …or outdoor bar for a drink, since they are both open for drinks to-go! You don’t have to tell us twice! Outdoor Bar Note, the seating at both bars is done by the hostess, so if you’d like to sit — just ask! Menu Since Disney is following strict health and safety guidelines, the restaurant has three ways to view the menu. You can look at the limited options outside… Outdoor Menu …through a QR code… QR Menu …or on disposable paper menus! Terralina Menu (Click to Enlarge) The menu at Terralina has been condensed for the time being and there is one all-day menu now, as opposed to different lunch and dinner menus. Terralina Menu (Click to enlarge) Terralina Crafted Italian will also give you a mask bag to place your mask inside while you’re dining. Paper Menu We appreciated having a sanitary place to store our masks and it was a great way to protect them while we ate. Drink We decided to start off with the Limoncello Mojito, which happened to be one of Terralina’s most popular drinks! The cocktail was mixed up with imported Arvero Limoncello, simple syrup, and muddled mint. Limoncello Mojito While the flavors might have been simple, the Limoncello Mojito was super light and fresh! Limoncello Mojito It reminded us of a minty lemonade, which would be VERY refreshing as a poolside cocktail in the Florida heat. Eats And, now, on to the eats! Terralina was not doing bread service during our visit due to an abundance of caution, but we still got our fix with an appetizer. We started our meal off with the Burrata, which came with prosciutto, arugula, lemon, and crostini. Normally, the Burrata is made with in-house pickled beets instead of prosciutto. However, Terralina tends to make them in bulk, so the beets aren’t a possibility at this time with the limited amount of guests. Instead, they’ve decided to mix things up by using an ingredient they have readily available in their kitchen (we’re not complaining!!). Burrata The cracked pepper over the prosciutto added a lovely hint of spice paired with the lemon zest on the burrata. The arugula had a light lemon vinaigrette so we got a lovely citrus flavor to pair with all the savory eats. We made our own mini DIY sandwich with the crostini, which was WAY better than the sad turkey sandwiches we’ve had over the past several weeks at home… . Cheese and Meat! Oh My! This was a really delicious and fresh way to kick off our meal! It was a large serving as well, which would make it a great shareable, or even a lovely lunch or dinner for one. We thought that nothing could beat that appetizer, but the Rigatoni Calabrese was waiting to make us fall in love with pasta all over again. The dish was mixed with house-made pork sausage, tomato, olive, mushroom, and escarole. Rigatoni Calabrese Although we’d normally go for a creamier pasta or something with truffles (who doesn’t love truffles with Italian food??), we were surprised at how much we liked the Rigatoni Calabrese! The flavors blended well together and the bitter escarole balanced the olive oil and butter. Rigatoni Calabrese The pork was actually ground instead of sausage links, which made for easier chewing with the pasta. The flavors of the meat really stood out in the dish, which we LOVED. Although we couldn’t taste the olives too much, we thought that adding extra cheese made the Rigatoni Calabrese even better. Our server even told us that they have one person whose whole job at a point is to make all the little cheese cups (obviously cheese is just that important). You Can’t Go Wrong with Some Parmesan! Our server also let us know this is a Chef Tony Mantuano specialty, and has been a staple on the menu since Terralina’s first ideation, Portobello Yacht Club, opened 35 years ago. When in Italy, eat like the Italians! We aren’t ones to say no to dessert, and we certainly couldn’t pass up the Chocolate Paradiso Cake! The chocolate layer cake was topped with chocolate ganache and toffee crunch (so it was the perfect combination of rich, sweet, and salty!). Paradise Cake Although the cake was previously called Chocolate Paradise (back when Terralina was “Portobello“) we were VERY happy to get another round during our visit. Paradise Cake Read our original review of the Chocolate Paradise here! In addition to a tasty meal, the service was one of the best we’ve had in Disney Springs (so give your Cast Members some well-needed love)! At checkout, our server let us know about a special deal for Florida Residents — 20% off food and alcoholic beverages! Good food at a lower price? Yes, please! Nosh or Not Consider dining at Terralina if: You’re looking for a relaxing, laid-back atmosphere for a sit-down meal. You love Italian food and have a hankering for pasta or wood-fired pizza. You’re a local who wants to take advantage of their current discount! Skip Terralina if: You don’t have time for a sit-down meal, and want something on-the-go. Italian food isn’t your favorite, or you’d like to try something a bit more adventurous. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to Terralina Crafted Italian. The flavors were fresh, the cocktail was refreshing, the service was excellent, and we’re still dreaming about that cake. With so many delicious places to eat at Disney Springs, it was nice to re-visit Terralina, and we look forward to our next visit! 5. Disney Springs is a little more crowded today, and you just have to look at the Under Armour store to see that. Under Armour at Disney Springs While strolling around Walt Disney World‘s shopping complex today (and munching some popcorn in our refillable bucket we picked up!), we noticed that the athletic apparel store was at capacity…and we think we know why! As it turns out, Under Armour is offering a one-day $10 off coupon for purchases of $10 or more! If you find something not too pricey and close to ten bucks, like a great pair of socks, you could get them for almost free! Under Armour $10 off coupon at Disney Springs That sounds like a great deal for folks who love the brand’s HeatGear casual wear line, which can help keep you cool in that classic Florida heat. But this coupon means guests are having to wait outside in a socially-distanced line before shopping for all of that athletic gear since Under Armour (and other stores) around Disney Springs are limiting capacity during this initial reopening phrase. Standing in line for Under Armour at Disney Springs Luckily, once you get inside, you can safely shop and get a serious deal on some new workout clothes! Remember, this deal is TODAY ONLY, so if you’re itching to get some new workout gear to help shed some of those pounds we all may or may not have gained being stuck inside for so long, they’ve got what you need! Another store has reopened in Disney Springs! Check it out here! Are you excited to shop at Under Armour when you get back to Disney Springs? Let us know! 6. We’re back in Disney Springs again today to show you all the latest merchandise your Disney loving heart could desire! World of Disney Although we’ve shown you the return of the Baby Yoda Plush and popcorn buckets, there’s another store back in Disney Springs too! Stance has reopened so you can grab some of the raddest socks in Disney World! Stance Socks Although there is nothing brand new in the store right now since Stance hasn’t gotten their latest shipment yet, there are still some awesome things you’re going to want to add to your wardrobe. Stance is distancing its customers so there are only 15 people allowed in the store at a time! Stance While you’re there, you can spot the Toy Story Socks in a Pizza Planet Box for $80 (but it’s selling quickly!)… Toy Story Socks …the Fantasia Socks, featuring different scenes from the movie for $60… Fantasia Socks …and the Star Wars Socks for $280 that comes with 13 pairs in the box. But Stance is offering 20% off their box sets right now! Star Wars Socks Honestly, we’ve been mixing so many pairs of socks while we’ve been at home, we’re not sure we know where the matching pairs are anymore! Maybe we need to stock up on some new socks at Stance ourselves. ;D Check out the COOLEST retro Disney hats to complete your new outfit here! What is your favorite store to visit in Disney Springs? 7. With the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland and Disney Springs behind us, and Disney World’s proposed July 11th reopening awaiting approval, we’ve got our minds set on reopening day for Disney World. Walt Disney World Still, as we’ve seen in Shanghai, things might be pretty different when we get back into the parks. The past few weeks have shed some serious light on what the domestic parks may look like thanks to observations in China, comments from Disney executives, and the proposed reopening plan for Disney World. If you want to head to Disney World on reopening day, you’ll want to keep these things in mind. 1. Before you go, consider what travel will look like. First off, be aware that your travel plans might look a little different — particularly if you’re flying. Though some states have suggestions not to travel, you shouldn’t have as much to worry about if you’re driving to Disney World (but always check on the current policies for your home state and for Florida!). Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante ©Patina Restaurant Group Flying is a whole different story. There may still be some travel restrictions such as limited flights and lower capacities. Plus, airports could be utilizing new health and safety measures that elongate your time pre or post-flight. Airlines are facing major changes due to the global health crisis, and it is still to be seen what the long-term effects may be. Orlando International Airport If you’re planning a trip to Disney for the reopening, make sure you have your travel plans worked out. Be sure to allow some extra time for potential hang-ups, longer queue lines, and other surprises during travel. See what changes are being made with the TSA here. 2. You might need to make a reservation — even if you have an Annual Pass. With capacity limitations, you may need to think about the prospect of HOW to get into Disney World. In Shanghai Disneyland, the parks are currently limited to a capacity of less than 30%. If a similar tack is taken in the US parks and demand is high, that may mean that not everyone will make it into the parks. ©ShanghaiDisneylandResort on Instagram Shanghai is currently using an advance reservation system that allows guests, even those with Annual Passes, to reserve time in the parks for a specific day. On top of that, Shanghai saw pretty quick sales when tickets opened up. Disney World’s proposed reopening plan included the creation of a new theme park reservation system. Though we have few details at this time, this could be used similarly to Disney Shanghai to help limit capacity. Right now, all we know is that some guests, including Annual Passholders and guests with Disney World hotel reservations, will be offered priority access to the reservations system. Shanghai Disneyland Don’t count on being able to walk up to the park entrance to snag your ticket; this trip might require some forethought. Keep an eye on DFB to find out what expectations Disney will have for guests as we learn more. Click here to read about Disneyland Shanghai’s reservation system. 3. You should go ahead and get used to wearing a mask. It’s true, it’s going to be an adjustment for all of us, but you should probably get used to wearing a face mask. Face masks are currently required for Cast Members and guests in Disneyland Shanghai, in Disney Springs, and at Universal Studios; and we now know that they will be mandatory in the reopened parks and elsewhere on property, per the Disney World reopening proposal. Disney Cloth Masks ©Disney So, get used to wearing a mask before you have to wear it all day in the parks. Just like you practice walking for hours and break in those new shoes — practice wearing your mask and find a few that feel good and are breathable. Make sure that you don’t have any issues with the comfort of the material or the strings on your ears. Plus, Florida is hot and humid, so getting familiar with the sensation of having one cover your face may take some time. Read our TIPS for wearing a face-covering in Florida HERE! ©Harvey’s It’s also important that you consider your kids’ comfort and help them get used to masks so that they are happy following the rules. They may not fully understand why they need to wear a mask, so be sure to fully explain the situation to them. To make them more okay with it, you could even let them pick out their own Disney face mask online! Looking for some Disney face masks? Click here! 4. Be prepared for it to take a while to get into the parks. Once you make it to Disney World, it may not be so easy to get from your car or transportation to the park gates. Be prepared for it to take a little while longer to get into your park of choice. The health crisis will mean new entrance protocols like we’ve seen at Disney Springs and proposed in the reopening plan with temperature checks. This could make entry lines long, especially early on as Disney tries to balance the new processes. Friendship Boats On top of that, there have been some updates to the Magic Kingdom entrance and the parking lots at the Transportation and Ticket Center that may not be familiar once you visit. You might be in for a long wait for a tram or a longer walk. See how long it took for us to have our temperature checked in Disney Springs here. 5. Set your expectations realistically. Based on the opening in Disney Shanghai, it’s important that we realize we may not be able to do all the things we used to. In Shanghai, shows, characters, and entertainment have all been changed with some offerings canceled altogether. Now, a few weeks later, some experiences are returning, but it did take a little while. Fireworks will be canceled temporarily in Disney World Similarly, Disney World has proposed that the parks will forgo experiences such as fireworks, parades, and character meet and greets initially. For many, this could make the parks feel a little bit weird while you’re there. Mickey Mouse It’s important that you know that the parks may not feel like the Disney World you’re used to, especially right on opening day. This is probably a good talk to have with little ones as well! And remember, be patient and kind to the Cast Members, even if a cancellation or change disappoints you. This is a whole new world for them too. Reopening day in Disney is sure to be an interesting and potentially historic occasion. We’ll be keeping you up to date with all the details on a reopening. Who knows! Maybe we’ll see you there when the gates open again. Click here to learn more about the changes to entertainment in Shanghai! Are you hoping to be in Disney World the day it reopens? 8. Ya’ll know that Wine Bar George is one of our go-to spots in Disney Springs! The Basket at Wine Bar George And, now that the shopping and dining district is back open, we’ve been SO excited to get some flaming cheese at the restaurant and a Froscato next door at The Basket! Even though we’ve told you all about those AWESOME Corkcicles available at The Basket, one of our favorite discounts at the quick-service stop is looking a little different nowadays. Yellow Corksicle You usually can get a refill of your pick of a frozen drink like Froscato, Frosé, or Freaujolais (choosing is so hard!!) for $10 after you’ve purchased a Corkcicle (usually $13). The Basket used to refill your cup directly and give it back to you. However, with the recent health and safety procedures at Disney Springs, The Basket is now putting refills in a plastic cup instead of directly in your Corkcicle! New Corkcicle Procedure Of course, you can pour the drink in yourself, but this prevents any extra cross-contamination between guests and The Basket. Since you have the option to just drink straight from the plastic cup, we asked if you can just bring your receipt from your Corkcicle to get the discount, but no dice. You must bring your Corkcicle and show it to the cashier to get the discount. Hey, we’re just happy we can still get our Dole Whip slush on! Read all about the disappearance of the newest Corkcicle at The Basket here! What’s your favorite drink from The Basket? Let us know in the comments below! With his little foot sticking out and a smile on his face, the Disney icon is looking as cute as ever! Mickey Cap The second hat features the classic Walt Disney World logo from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s with rainbow stitching. If you’re really feeling the whole rainbow look, consider pairing this with some bright tye-dye merch. Walt Disney World Cap The final old-school hat is giving us serious ’90s vibes, with Disney written out in a funky font featuring the likenesses of Goofy, Winnie the Pooh, Donald Duck, and other favorite cartoon characters. It’s perfect to pair with Disney’s line of bright tank tops or a retro spirit jersey for a sunny day in the Florida parks. Disney World Cap These caps are $27.99 each. In addition to being a totally rad summer look, these throwback hats will be the perfect thing to wear when Disney World celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2021! (Pair it with a castle cake T-shirt as a nod to the 25th celebration!) Will you be rocking these retro denim Disney hats this summer? Let us know what you think in the comments below! 11. We brought you along with us to see the reopening of Disney-owned locations in Disney Springs this week. Disney Springs In the days before these locations opened, Disney Springs was consistently pretty quiet. But the morning World of Disney reopened, things were bonkers. We’re talking a six hour wait bonkers. But we’re back in Disney Springs again today to see if crowds are still steady. The new reopening procedures at Disney-owned locations such as World of Disney and the Marketplace Co-Op brought about a virtual queue system to manage crowds. Similar to the virtual queues in the parks for things like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Rise of the Resistance, guests sign up to be part of a virtual line at the front of the attraction (or store, in this case). Once your name is on the list, you can stroll through Disney Springs until you receive a text that it’s your turn to shop. Virtual Queue As we mentioned, reopening day was BUSY, but it seems as though crowds are winding down each day. Even on a weekend, we were able to walk right in to World of Disney with no wait. Inside World of Disney By the time we visited Marketplace Co-Op, the store was at capacity and a virtual queue was in place. BUT, it took less than five minutes to receive a text that we were cleared to return and shop. Marketplace Co-Op Virtual Queue We’ll keep you updated as crowd levels are continually in flux, but compared to opening day — Disney’s stores are much less busy today. 12. If you know us, you KNOW that chowing down on some classic Disney snacks are an essential part of our day! Popcorn in Disney Springs And while we’ve spotted Mickey pretzels, popcorn, and Dole Whip at Disney Springs since it reopened earlier this month, one HUGE thing was missing… refillable popcorn buckets. Well, we are happy to report that refillable popcorn buckets are BACK, baby!!! Popcorn buckets for sale at Disney Springs We spotted the refillable Mickey birthday popcorn bucket on sale at a Disney Springs popcorn stand today. It’s available for $12.00 and refills are just $2.00. Disney Springs Popcorn Bucket price And, yes, the popcorn stands will refill your popcorn bucket right now. When we went snacked around Disney Springs earlier this month, the cast member handled our bucket as little as possible, wiped down the handle, and, of course, filled our bucket with tons of buttery, salty popcorn! Refillable Popcorn Bucket These may not be the most mind-blowing popcorn buckets compared to something like the Millennium Falcon buckets we found at these carts earlier this year, but it’s a step in the right direction! So if you don’t have a refillable popcorn bucket yet, you can buy one yet again at Disney Springs! Are you excited that refillable popcorn buckets are BACK at Walt Disney World? 13. Disney merchandise comes and goes, especially when Disney Springs has just reopened to guests! Disney Springs Although we’ve already seen the Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction collection sell out lightning fast, another fan-favorite has disappeared from the shelves! When we visit Wine Bar George’s The Basket, we love picking up a Corkcicle to keep our frozen drinks chilly — in the cutest way. The Basket at Wine Bar George Although new colors roll out pretty frequently (hellooo, Neon Pink Corkcicle), they are subject to availability since the restaurant only gets a limited amount. Wine Bar George Corkcicle And, today, we had to bid adieu to the new teal and lime color block Corkcicle at The Basket (cue our tears)! Although it was only there for a short period of time, a Cast Member informed us that she doesn’t know when OR IF they will be restocked. New Corkcicle BUT, The Basket still has other Corkcicle colors available like white and hot pink! So, you can still a new sipper and your choice of a Frozcato, Frosé, or Freaujolais while you’re there! 15. From Mickey beignets to Totchos, there’s no shortage of fun new Disney recipes to whip up in your kitchen. And now, Disney has released the recipe for a fun twist on s’mores that’s almost (keyword: almost) too cute to eat! While you may be spending more time at home these days, adventure is out there even in your kitchen with these Up-inspired s’mores from Disney Family. These sweet treats mimic the look of the iconic My Adventure Book from Up, and they’re pretty much the ideal thing to make before having a fun Disney+ movie night at home. Ingredients: 12 large, rectangular graham crackers 1-2 tsp vegetable oil (optional) Your favorite homemade marshmallow recipe 6 peanut butter candy melts 1 Tbsp each of purple, red, blue, and white icing 12 oz. of chocolate bar or chocolate candy coating, melted Red fruit leather or fruit tape ¼ cup powdered sugar 2 Tbsp each of tan, yellow, orange, and black icing 7 piping bags fitted with #1 or #2 tips (for each of the colored icings), 1 piping bag fitted with #44 tip (for the white icing), toothpicks Directions: Make the covers. Using a serrated knife, cut 2 inches off the length of each graham cracker. The remaining cracker should be 2 x 3 inches. Dip each cracker in melted chocolate, thinning the chocolate with oil if needed. Allow to set. Create the binding. To create the book binding, cut out a 2 x ½-inch strip of red fruit leather. Use a dab of melted chocolate to attach this on the left side of each “book cover” cracker. Make the marshmallows. Make the marshmallows according to your favorite recipe. Pour the marshmallow mixture into a 9 x 13-inch pan heavily dusted with powdered sugar. Fill the pan evenly to a depth of ½ inch. Allow to set. Use a long, thin knife brushed with oil to cut out 6 rectangles of marshmallow, each measuring 2 x 3 inches. Decorate with details. Use the tan colored icing to draw square and circular borders on each “book cover.” Flat side facing up, attach a peanut butter candy melt chip under the text area. Use black icing and a toothpick to lightly draw the shape of North and South America. Write “My Adventure Book” with colored icing fitted into piping bags. Pipe a black icing ribbon tie atop the red fruit leather “binding.” To finish, pipe a thick line of white icing “tape” on the top left side of the globe. Enjoy your s’mores! Place a cut marshmallow in between one “book cover” graham cracker and one plain, chocolate-dipped graham cracker. You can toast the marshmallows or just enjoy them plain. After you make these decorative s’mores, make sure you take a few photos for your personal Adventure Book! And if you’re feeling inspired, then you can try your hand at more s’mores-inspired recipes like these Mickey S’mores Cupcakes and the S’mores Bake from the now-defunct Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue in Disneyland. 16. If there is a Baby Yoda plush left on this planet, we WILL find it. Baby Yoda Plush This adorable plush of The Child from The Mandalorian popped up at the recently reopened World of Disney, but sold out in a flash. So we headed BACK to Disney Springs seeking an (adorable) bounty. We made our way switfty to World of Disney, and much to our surprise — there was no wait! We waltzed on in and — what to our wondering eyes should appear, but a miniature creature STACKED with a bunch of his pals. This layout reminded us a bit of the Little Green Men waiting for THE CLAW in Toy Story. But this little green dude is waiting for a new home with that precious little smirk. If history repeats itself, these little plushes may not stick around for long. So if you’re on the [bounty] hunt in Disney Springs, now is your chance! 19. Halloween may be five months away, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the perfect thing to wear to the parks for the spookiest season of the year. Maleficent Dress for Women – Back ©Disney Her super fierce dragon form appears on the back of the skirt as well as an embroidered raven because it’s all about the details! ©Disney You don’t need an invitation to rock this dress. 21. Even as the Disney parks remain closed with construction halted, we’re still seeing some building permits from Disney World. Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Atmosphere Sometimes, there’s work that just HAS to get done! Recently we spotted some permits for Epcot’s Play Pavilion and more, but we’ve got even more interesting documents today. With everything from MAJOR Disney projects, to third-party construction, to some EMERGENCY work; we’re taking a look at the building permits that Disney has had to file over the past few weeks! Galactic Starcruiser We’re starting with the permit that made us the MOST excited! Ready your blasters, we’ve got a permit on Galactic Starcruiser! You might remember when we spotted a permit for the guard shack going up at the upcoming Star Wars hotel, but this time the permit is for the hotel itself! Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Concept Art The new permit, filed May 13th, is for “fabrication and installation of sets” for “Project H.” Now we’re not sure what that H stands for (probably “Halcyon” — the name of the starcruiser) but we DO know that the permit is for the address where the Starcruiser construction is located! Does this mean it’s starting to look spacey in there??? After all, the hotel is supposed to be themed as if it was a ship flying lightyears away in space. Galactic Starcruiser Building Permit We can’t wait to get into Galactic Starcruiser in 2021 — that’s why we’re waiting not-so-patiently for reservations to open this year. After all, with the immersion of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we’re sure that Starcruiser will be a trip to remember. This unique experience will allow the Star Wars story to unfold all around you. How cool is that? Click here to learn EVERYTHING we know about Galactic Starcruiser! Starbucks at Disney Springs Next up, it looks like the Starbucks in Disney Springs might be getting a little bit of a makeover. You might remember that we recently saw a permit for a new Lovepop Store, so things are movin’ and shakin’ in Disney World’s retail and dining complex. Disney Springs West Side Starbucks The Starbucks permit, filed May 12th, calls for a “tenant remodel” of the existing Starbucks on the West Side of Disney Springs. Oooooh! We love to stop in at the Starbucks of Disney World to get our caffeine fix, so we’re curious if this means this spot will be getting a new look. Disney Springs Starbucks Permit Both Starbucks locations in Disney Springs have reopened (with new a new tasty drink to mark the occasion)! So we’ll be keeping our eyes on the West Side location to see any changes! Click here to learn more about Starbuck’s reopening drink! Disney Springs Restaurant Updates But Starbucks isn’t the ONLY dining location in Disney Springs that’s getting a little bit of an update. Jaleo and City Works Eatery and Pour House are making some updates as well. Since Disney Springs is open, hopefully we’ll get to see these changes pretty soon. City Works Outdoor Bar in Disney Springs Both of these new permits were filed on May 14th. Neither of them is for a full remodel, but they do mean that both restaurants are looking for some fun updates. The Jaleo permit was filed with a design firm to “install new wall-mounted graphics.” Ooh! We can’t wait to see what those look like. Jaleo Building Permit Over at City Works Eatery and Pour House, a still very NEW spot in Disney Springs, they’ve filed a permit to install a canopy. Hmm, maybe this spot is looking to expand on outdoor seating in response to the Florida government’s health regulations? We noticed a to-go drink window under construction on our recent walks around Disney Springs, so it’s possible this canopy could be related to that. City Works Building Permit Whatever the case, we’re excited to see the updates to these two spots whenever they get them finished! Never been to City Works? Click here to learn about the new restaurant! The Hollywood Brown Derby WHAT? Construction coming to The Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Not exactly. Remember how we mentioned some emergency construction? Well, it looks like the Derby had a little bit of an incident at some point during the closure. Hollywood Brown Derby On April 21st, Disney filed a permit for a “kitchen gas leak repair” at the famous Disney dining spot. Yikes! Hollywood Brown Derby Building Permit Luckily, it seems that everything is a-ok as we haven’t heard anything from Disney on it. Maybe it’s a good thing that the restaurant was closed when that happened! Thinking about a meal at the Brown Derby? Click here for our latest review! Flamingo Crossing Now we’re taking a look at the retail district Flamingo Crossing. This is a developing project coming to the west side of the property. So far, we know we can expect a Walgreens, a Speedway Gas Station, and A TARGET!! Flamingo Crossing Building Permit We’ve already seen a pretty clear plan for the area through a different permit, but it appears that construction teams are set to get started on “new shell buildings” for the property. Shell buildings, like the name says, will act as a shell for the different third-party stores in the complex — yes, like Target. It’s pretty awesome to see some movement on this massive project! Click here to learn more about Flamingo Crossing Four Seasons Orlando Last but certainly not least, we’ve actually spotted THREE permits for the massive renovations going on at Four Seasons Orlando. Though the Disney Springs area hotel is currently closed with the rest of Disney World, we have seen some movement. For instance, they’ve opened their on-site restaurant, Plancha! Four Seasons Resort Orlando And apparently, the teams at Four Seasons are also working hard getting permission for all of the work they’re doing on the pool area and beyond. We spotted a permit with the South Florida Water Management District to permit the relocation of some natural resources — we only see these for BIG projects! Four Seasons Orlando Building Permit We also saw two more specific permits. One was to remove cabanas and do some paving work on the concrete surfaces at the hotel. The other was filed a few days later to continue work on the concrete slab pathways — most likely around the pool area. Click here to learn about the reopened restaurant at the Four Seasons! And there you have it! Things have definitely slowed down in Disney but there’s still some interesting stuff going on! As always, we’ll keep an eye on those Disney permits and report in whenever we find some good ones. Until then! Click here to check out what ELSE Disney is working on! 22. There is something comforting about slathering creamy peanut butter on fresh soft bread then layering on strawberry or grape jelly. This lunchtime staple is a happy reminder that three simple ingredients can make the perfect meal for kids … and one bite will bring back a flood of childhood memories for us adults! Leave it up to the chefs at Lamplight Lounge at Disney California Adventure park to take this classic lunchtime sammie up a notch in presentation. All the ingredients are there – with a clever spin! This is the perfect sandwich to make with the kiddos – even the youngest can help! Check out the recipe below as well as the how-to video from the Disney Youth Education Series team. PB and J Rolls from Lamplight Lounge at Disney California Adventure Park PEANUT BUTTER ROLLS 8 slices wheat bread3/4 cup creamy peanut butter, dividedJELLY DRIZZLE 3/4 cup strawberry or grape jellyFor peanut butter rolls: Cut crusts off bread. Flatten bread with rolling pin until bread can bind after being rolled. Spread 1 1/2 tablespoons of peanut butter evenly on each slice of flattened bread, leaving small boarder on all sides – the peanut butter will spread as you roll.Starting with long side of bread, gently roll up each bread slice into spiral. Cut each roll into 4 even pieces. Place 8 pieces of rollups onto each plate, seam-side down. For jelly drizzle: Place plastic quart-size freezer bag into small cup, folding back first few inches of bag over top of cup. Spoon jelly into bag, gently shaking bag to move jelly to bottom of bag. (Note: If jelly is too thick to drizzle, add small amount of warm water to jelly in small bowl and mix to desired consistency before adding to bag). Once filled, lift bag from cup and squeeze out excess air from bag and seal bag with a few twists to top of bag. Cut bottom corner of bag with scissors. Holding right below the twisted top of bag with one hand and guiding with free hand, gently squeeze to drizzle jelly over each peanut butter roll with zigzag motion. Cook’s Note: A squeezable bottle of jelly is an easy option. Simply squeeze, in zigzag motion, desired amount of jelly over each peanut butter roll. Note: This recipe has been converted from a larger quantity in the restaurant kitchens. The flavor profile may vary from the restaurant’s version. As a reminder while preparing this recipe, please supervise children who are helping or nearby. Click here for a print-at-home version of this recipe! 23. This post will be updated with new information and questions as we get them. Disney World is set to begin a phased reopening of the theme parks on July 11th, and things certainly won’t be like they used to be. Magic Kingdom In light of the impending reopening, Disney has made some MASSIVE changes to the way things are done. They’ve canceled what feels like everything for everybody — no FastPasses, no dining reservations, no new ticket sales, and more. From a guest perspective, it can feel a little bit like the folks at Disney have TOTALLY lost their collective mind. We know MANY of you are affected by these sudden changes, and we’re here to help. We’re taking a look at what you should do if you’re impacted and answering some big questions. What has Disney changed? In preparation for the changes coming with the reopening, Disney has suspended and canceled many offerings. First, it was announced with their reopening proposal that new hotel reservations and ticket sales are suspended at this time. Existing hotel reservations and ticket sales still stand. Contemporary Resort If you had a trip coming up, you’ll notice that all of your existing FastPass+ reservations, advance dining reservations, and experience reservations through September 2021 have been canceled. This is due to the fact that these services will likely see some change in the next few weeks. The Disney Dining Plan and Extra Magic Hours are currently suspended as well. Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Finally, we’re expecting to see the introduction of a new theme park reservation system that will help to limit capacity in the theme parks. This system is still in development but will launch prior to the reopening of the parks on July 11th, per the reopening plan for the parks. Click here to read more details about the reopening plan. What am I supposed to do now? Basically, Disney has cleared out their system. Capacity changes in the parks mean capacity changes in ride queues and dining — but that DOESN’T mean that you won’t be able to make dining reservations OR FastPass reservations. It just might be a little different than we’re used to. Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Disney CEO Bob Chapek mentioned that they’ve pretty much had to re-engineer the parks to keep these capacity changes in mind, and that apparently means a big overhaul to their reservation systems. FastPass+ and Extra Magic Hours Suspension As we mentioned, Disney has instituted a suspension of the FastPass+ system and Extra Magic Hours until further notice. According to the announcement from Disney, the removal of Fastpass means that they can use all of the queue areas to better distance guests. Removing Extra Magic Hours helps to simplify things for Disney and for guests who are hoping to navigate the reopening. Haunted Mansion But we get it — if you LOST precious FastPasses or extra hours you were banking on having it flat out stinks. Does this jeopardize our chance to breeze onto these hard-to-get FastPass rides? Maybe not. After all, Disney is significantly limiting capacity and expecting shorter wait times in general at reopening. You might not even NEED a FastPass if capacity limits keep lines down. Disney has also stated they’re considering a virtual queue system in the parks when they open, so while it might feel like we’re losing FastPasses, we could be gaining something possibly better. Need more info on the suspension of the Fastpass+ system? Click here. Dining Cancellations This one is a doozy. If you had any Advance Dining Reservations (and trust us, we had a BUNCH!), those are no more. Gone. Donezo. Disney has canceled all of these reservations now so that they can edit capacity restrictions in their restaurants. Via Napoli Dining Room We reached out to a Cast Member who explained that following the CDC guidelines is tricky and Disney isn’t positive that all of the table-service and quick-service locations will be open initially. With reservations continuing as normal up until the reopening plan was announced, more guests may have made reservations than there will be room for with the distanced tables and reduced capacity. And we’ve also recently reported that character dining will be unlikely when the parks reopen. If you thought that the FastPass cancellations were rough, the dining cancellations feel much worse for many. Meals are a big part of a Disney vacation for lots of guests (like us!). The good news is that Disney IS reopening dining reservations closer to the opening of the parks. Family-Style Dining Seating There’s no news on when exactly this will be, but we do know that after dining reservations come back, the reservation window will change from 180 days to 60 days in advance for the time being. The point is, the Advance Dining Reservation system isn’t GONE, we’re just all going to have to do one more round of reservations before our trips roll around. If you lost previous reservations, all hope is not lost. With lower capacity, there’s still a fair chance you could snag them again. And if you couldn’t get a table at a spot you wanted, you get a second chance! For what we know about the dining cancellations, click here! Disney Dining Plan Cancellations Going along with the dining reservation cancelations, all levels of the Disney Dining Plan have been canceled for guests as well. This also plays into the fact that Disney is uncertain what restaurants will reopen and at what capacity. They HAVE indicated that the Disney Dining Plan will return, they just haven’t said when. They don’t want to promise the Disney Dining Plan to guests initially only to not be able to hold up their end of the deal if restaurants can’t support the crowds. Dole Whip Note that if you were a recipient of the Disney World Free Dining Offer as a result of the closure, your new Dining Plans will be automatically canceled. This hassle certainly doesn’t feel fair to those who already had to deal with their vacations being canceled at least once already (some multiple times!). On the bright side, some of the affected guests have reported that Disney is automatically canceling their Disney World Free Dining Offer and applying a whopping 35% discount to their hotel room cost. If this applies to your vacation, you should receive an email about the cancellation and discount. Click here for more about the suspension of the Disney Dining Plan! Prepaid Experience Cancellations Experience reservations have been canceled as well. The good news is we reached out to a Cast Member who told us that prepaid experiences like certain Advance Dining Reservations, dessert parties, and tours will be refunded with no action required by guests. When will Disney bring these offerings BACK? This is hard to say as Disney hasn’t given us specific dates for…well…anything! For FastPass+, Extra Magic Hours, the Disney Dining Plan, and new reservations, the suspensions are indefinite. Still, Disney uses language that seems to indicate that all of these systems will return, they just don’t want to back themselves into a corner with a date they might have to change later. Dining Reservations and Experience Reservations We DO have a little extra information on when dining and experience reservations will return. Though the official date is unspecified, Disney has elaborated on the changes to this system. They stated that going forward, Advance Dining Reservations will be made 60 days in advance instead of 180 days in advance, and that reservations for dining and experiences will be re-introduced once Disney updates the system to reflect capacity limitations. Wagyu Taberkurabe Presentation at Takumi-Tei Now, we are already within the 60-days-out window for the reopening of the parks, so the initial return of dining reservations may give us fewer than 60 days to book for the initial reopening. Guests with resort reservations or a canceled dining reservations will be given priority when rebooking. Tableside Cheese Cart at Topolino’s Terrace Disney HAS mentioned restaurants in their reopening plan and with reservations being so important to limiting capacity, we will likely see the new dining reservation system launched prior to the parks reopening. Want to learn more about health measures at reopening? Click here! What’s the deal with the theme park reservation system? This mysterious theme park reservation system certainly has folks pretty perplexed — us (and possibly YOU) included! While Disney hasn’t shared much information about this system, we can clear up a few things we DO know about how it will work. MagicBand Park Scanner ©Disney The new system will be accessed online through DisneyWorld.com and all guests will be required to make a reservation in advance for theme park entry. Guests will need valid park admission to make a reservation, and guests won’t be permitted to enter the park without BOTH a ticket and a reservation. Confused yet? Yeah, it’s a lot to take in. It’s unclear in what specific order guests will be able to reserve their park day when the reservation system opens, but we do know that guests with resort hotel reservations and Annual Passholders will have priority access to the new park reservation system. We also know Annual Passholders have also been told they can expect some form of passholder previews for the parks. At this time, WE CANNOT CONFIRM that if you have a resort reservation, but don’t already have park tickets, that you will definitely be included in the priority access to the park reservation system. Epcot Entrance in Walt Disney World Disney World isn’t the only park to opt into a reservation system. We’ve seen this used with the reopening of Disneyland Shanghai. Shockingly, we’ve also seen it with the Universal Orlando Passholder Preview Days, even though they indicated that they would not be using a reservation system with their theme parks. To learn more about the theme park reservation system, click here! Who qualifies as resort guests? Like we said, those with resort hotel reservations and valid ticket media will get priority when accessing the theme park reservation system. So, who does this mean? Those staying at the Disney-owned Resort Hotels will qualify. Though you cannot currently make a new reservation, it appears that Disney will accommodate those with existing reservations at these hotels. Polynesian Village Resort Lobby as viewed from upstairs We reached out to Disney to see if these perks would be extended to the partner resorts and a Cast Member told us that YES, those staying at partner resorts will count in the new system as well. So, if you have a reservation at Shades of Green, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, or another partner, this information indicates that you will get priority access to the reservation system as well. Click here to learn more about who counts as a resort guest! What does the new reservation system mean for Park Hopper tickets? Disney has not mentioned whether the reservation system will limit guests to one park per day. If it does, this could be a serious bummer for those who purchased Park Hopper tickets and planned their vacation around their ability to get from one park to another! Keep in mind though, this is likely on Disney’s radar. Consider the first few days of reopening when Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are the only parks that will be open. Guests won’t have access to all four parks to hop. Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom So this is definitely a complicated one and we’re antsy for more details. It’s possible that Disney is considering a refund or cancellation option for Park Hopper tickets in light of the new reservation system. Or they could simply say that Park Hoppers can hop to whatever parks are currently open. But we have nothing confirmed at the moment. When will we find out about the reservation system beginning? Like much of the changes, dates are frustratingly foggy about when we will see the new reservation system implemented. In the original launch statement, Disney said “Over the coming weeks, we will be making some necessary updates to prepare for the launch of this park reservation system.” Guests who wanted to make reservations for the opening of Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland last year had plenty of time to prepare, and we imagine that will be the case here as well. Keep an eye on your email and on Disney Food Blog for any details. How will we find out about the reservation system? We will be keeping an eye on all channels where Disney may announce the reservation system. Keep a close eye on DFB in the coming weeks to know as soon as date of the new system is announced and as soon as the system goes live. If you fall into the groups who are to receive priority access to the system, keep an eye on your email as well. Why are they canceling my Quick Service Dining Plan and will I be able to rebook? It certainly caught our attention that even Quick Service Disney Dining Plans were canceled when there isn’t a need to limit ordering capability in these restaurant models due to physical distancing. Still, Disney isn’t sure that all quick service locations will reopen, and beyond that, they are cleaning out their system by completing these cancellations across the board. Casey’s Corner So, with so much uncertainty and the system changes, Disney opted to cancel all Disney Dining Plans for right now. There’s no certainty on when or if guests will be able to rebook these plans, but a Cast Member suggested that guests call at their 60-day window for more information if they have an upcoming trip! I got the Disney World Free Dining Offer with my room package; does that mean I don’t get my Dining Plan anymore? It does look that way. Disney has specifically mentioned removing Disney Dining Plans that were included in packages. Remember that you can still cancel your current package, but modifications cannot be made at this time. Disney Dining Plan Shirt For those who were affected by the closure and received a Disney World Free Dining Offer when they rebooked, your dining plans will be canceled. Folks that this applies to will receive that hefty 35% room discount on their rebooking though. We don’t currently have confirmation that guests who booked with the Free Dining Plan offer earlier this year, prior to the park closures, will receive the same discount. For more information on the 35% discount, click here. I’ve already been affected by the closures and rescheduled. What does this mean for me? Speaking of which, if you were already affected by the closures you will likely be wondering how these changes affect you (sorry you keep having to rebook, guys!). If you’ve rebooked your resort hotel and ticket reservations, you will get priority in the theme park reservation system and the dining reservation system. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn As a reminder, if you booked through the Disney World Free Dining Offer that was presented to those affected by the closure, your dining plan will be canceled and replaced with a 35% room discount applied to your package. What counts as a canceled “experience?” Disney hasn’t officially announced much information on what is included in the “experience” category of the cancellations, but they have clarified that things like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Wild Africa Trek, and behind-the-scenes tours are included. Keep in mind these offerings may not be available at first when the parks reopen. If an experience is canceled and you have already paid, Disney will be refunding these experiences, so keep an eye out. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique ©Disney Separately ticketed events like After Hours and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party are a different situation. Information is a little bit unclear about these events at this point. We heard from a Cast Member that tickets for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party are still valid, but no new ticket sales are available. We’re not taking this as a guarantee that there won’t be changes to separately-ticketed events. Keep in mind too that Disney can always change this and cancel at a later point. Click here to see what we know about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets. I’m an Annual Passholder. What does this mean for me? Of course, the situation is unique for Annual Passholders and the changes can be especially frustrating for those with this type of ticket. You paid (a hefty price!) for access to the Disney parks and right now, that can feel up in the air. Many of us are Annual Passholders so trust us, we feel your pain right now! 2020 Annual Passholder Magnet As of now, Disney has not mentioned any further extension of the Annual Passes beyond what was originally confirmed. Some Passholders have received communication from Disney that passholders will have access to the theme park reservation system before new tickets are sold. Passholders with previously booked experiences and dining will also have priority access to new reservations for those. Disney launched a webpage specifically for Annual Passholders that notes that Passholders will be limited to a certain number of reserved days at one time. It also notes that some AP member benefits may be unavailable and that blackout dates will still apply. Chef Remy Magnet As a note, Disney has also announced that they will be offering Passholder previews to the reopened parks! Click here to learn more about the situation for Annual Passholders. Will Disney be canceling reservations in Disney Springs restaurants? The language indicates that all reservations made through the Disney system are affected by the cancellation. Even if you plan on dining at a third-party restaurant, if you made your reservation through My Disney Experience it will likely be canceled. Disney Springs Now, at this time OpenTable reservations have NOT been canceled. If you’d like to confirm a reservation before the Disney reservations system reopens (for example, if you’re a local who wants to go to a Disney Springs restaurant this weekend), you can book through OpenTable at any time at eligible restaurants. We’ve been successful booking a number of third-party restaurants at Disney Springs this way. Click here for more information on Disney Springs reservations. What do I do now? Whew. We all wanted to hear when the parks were reopening and now that we know, we’ve got a lot of bleh and confusion to go with it. It’s important not to panic though! We’re sure MANY of you are biting your nails waiting to hear if and when you can get back to the parks and if it will even resemble the Disney World we’ve come to love for so many years. Mickey Pretzel These changes are certainly frustrating and shocking for many, especially those of you who have already changed your plans multiple times. WE’RE HERE TO HELP. Guests with resort reservations still have them and rebooking options aren’t available yet for canceled dining and experiences. You should still be able to make new bookings for your vacation sometime in the near future, so hang in there. However, if you’d like to cancel your hotel reservation outright, you CAN do so at this point! Hollywood Studios Patience is the name of the game here.
