  1. On May 20th, Disney Springs began a phased reopening. And we’ve been there every step of the way to see how each business has been adapting to the changes. Disney Springs In fact, we’ve been visiting every day so we can report back on all the dining, shopping, and safety info you need. Since we’ve written A LOT on the subject, we wanted to provide you with the “ultimate guide” to navigating the newly reopened Disney Springs! We have the scoop on all of the health and safety measures taking place as well as where to eat, drink, and shop and how eating, drinking, and shopping will look! Here’s EVERYTHING you need to know! Entering Disney Springs In order to help enforce the new health and safety precautions in place, the process for entering Disney Springs is a bit different than we’ve seen in the past. Temperature Screening There are differences in parking, where you can enter, and what you need to know and do before you go. Operating Hours Disney Springs is officially operating with reduced hours (10AM to 10PM). Disney Springs However, those hours are subject to change. To align with Orange County’s temporarily enacted curfew, Disney Springs is operating only until 7PM until further notice. Parking Surface parking lots and valet are unavailable. Currently, parking is only available in the Lime and Orange Parking Garages to help reduce capacity, and once these garages are full, guests won’t be able to park there and visit Disney Springs. Orange Parking Garage We have seen that the Orange Parking Garage has been opening well before 9AM most days. Of course, this is always subject to change. Entrances At this time, there are only five entrances open to Disney Springs, all of which have temperature screening checkpoints. This Way to Temperature Screening The entrances are at the Orange and Lime garages, the Marketplace Entrance, the bus loop near Town Center, and the rideshare drop off area. All your questions about the reopened Disney Springs, ANSWERED! Health and Safety Initiatives Guests will notice a number of health and safety precautions throughout Disney Springs, some of which they’ll experience before they even have the chance to enter. AdventHealth Signage From what face coverings to wear to what temperature you cannot exceed to what social distancing you’ll see, we’re going to cover all of the protocols Disney has implemented below. Face Coverings All guests aged 2 and older are required to wear a proper face covering while visiting Disney Springs — guests without masks will not be admitted. Advent Health Cast Member at Temperature Screening These face coverings should cover your nose and mouth, fit snugly, be secured with ties or ear loops, and be made of a breathable material. The face coverings can either be a reusable fabric mask or disposable. Required Measures Sign It’s important to keep in mind you must wear your face mask for the entire duration of your visit. The only times you’re allowed to take it off are when you’re seated in a restaurant or walking around with a food or drink in hand, in which case you’re allowed to lower your mask. Click here to learn when you will and won’t have to wear a mask in Disney World Temperature Screenings In addition to mandatory face masks, all guests are required to have their temperature checked before entering Disney Springs. Health care workers from AdventHeath are providing temperature screenings for guests to help ensure accuracy. Disney Springs Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees and above will not be allowed to enter. Temperature Check If a guest does test with an elevated temperature, they’re allowed to attempt a second screening a few minutes later after waiting in a tented “cool down” area. But if they still test above the maximum temperature, they will be asked to leave along with their entire party. Rescreening Tent Though there is a temperature check, there is no bag check to enter Disney Springs. Click here to learn more about temperature checks in Disney World Increased Sanitation Guests will find hand sanitizer stations throughout Disney Springs. Hand sanitizer station Portable handwashing stations are also located throughout Disney Springs. They’re highly visible and easy to locate, but if you need to use one and can’t find it on your own, ask a friendly Cast Member, and they’ll be happy to direct you! Click here to see the handwashing stations in Disney Springs Social Distancing Squads Speaking of wonderful Cast Members, we’ve had our first chance encounter with the Social Distancing Squad at Disney Springs! Cast Member These Cast Members are on hand to provide guests with additional support while ensuring nobody is breaking any rules. Click here to learn more about these Cast Members Social Distancing In order to reduce contact between guests, there are social distancing markers placed throughout Disney Springs. World of Disney Social Distancing Stickers While Disney has its own standard set of social distancing markers, other third-party businesses are using their own signage. For instance, Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company is using coffee bean floor decals to show guests where to stand and keep them at a six-foot distance. Joffrey’s Coffee Bean Distancing Markers Click here to learn more about the social distancing markers in Disney Springs Dining in Disney Springs While not all dining locations have reopened in Disney Springs, guests will find a wide variety of options to choose from, with new locations continuing to open. George Miliotes at Wine Bar George’s Reopening From new utensil dispensers to contactless menus, and mobile order payment updates, we’ve seen a bunch of new procedures at some of our favorite places to dine in Disney World. Table Service Dining Since May 20th, we’ve eaten at STK, The Boathouse, Wine Bar George, Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, T-Rex, Frontera Cocina, and more table service spots to see what changes they’ve implemented. Sever at The Boathouse Changes at table service locations include, but are not limited to: lower capacity, socially distanced tables, and single-use paper menus. We’ve also noticed some locations providing disposable bags to store our masks, and using contactless payment methods. digital Checkout at STK Note that at this time, reservations for Table-Service restaurants can NOT be made through the My Disney Experience app, but certain locations are currently bookable on Open Table or directly through the restaurants. See what it’s like to dine at several Disney Springs restaurants that have just reopened here! Quick Service Dining We’ve also visited Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza, Chicken Guy!, D-Luxe Burger, B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co., Pizza Ponte, Morimoto Asia Street Food, The Polite Pig, Earl of Sandwich, Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC, The Basket, 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck, and The Daily Poutine. Yep — we’ve been STUFFED lately! Pork Rinds at The Polite Pig In addition to single-use menus, quick service spots are also spacing out their tables, putting up plexiglass in front of cash registers, and limiting capacity in addition to other health and safety measures. Check out our answers to ALL your questions about the reopening of Disney Springs here! Snacking at Disney Springs If you’re feeling thirsty or need a small snack, you’re in luck — plenty of outdoor pop-up bar and snack carts are now fully operational! Disney Springs Pop-Up Bar Cart Beyond alcoholic beverages, there are carts selling Mickey Pretzels and Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars! And if you’re jonesing for some Pineapple Dole Whip — the snack you voted as your most-loved Disney food — you can find it in Disney Springs right now too! Dole Whip in Disney Springs And for you folks at home with refillable popcorn buckets, you CAN still get ’em refilled at Disney Springs right now! If you forgot yours at home, Disney is selling some basic popcorn buckets so you can fill up on the good stuff! Click here to see what it’s like snacking around reopened Disney Springs Shopping in Disney Springs World of Disney As of May 27th, World of Disney is open daily from 10AM to close. World of Disney While the first day was CRAZY with over a three-hour wait and a new virtual queue system just to step foot in the store, the crowds have mostly calmed down since then. Ears Section of World of Disney Another thing we’ve noticed is the store has been opening earlier on certain days than its posted operating hours. World of Disney When we spoke with a Cast Member about why the store was already open (well before 10 AM) she told us they are trying to get a better handle on things and are taking it day-by-day. But your mileage may vary, so don’t count on getting in before the designated opening time! Click here to learn more about the very busy reopening of World of Disney! Store Capacity Both Disney-owned stores and third party shops are limiting the number of guests allowed in a store at any given time. Shops such as Sephora, Under Armour, and World of Disney have reached capacity over the recent week, for example. Virtual Queue World of Disney has initiated a virtual queue for busy days, while other shops have guests wait outside in lines. Click here to see our experience when Under Armour when hit capacity Social Distancing at Stores In addition to limiting the number of shoppers, plexiglass shields have been installed at most stores’ cash registers, and queues have been outfitted with social distancing markers. Please Stand Here Markers at Checkout Although contactless forms of payment are highly encouraged, most businesses are still accepting cash. Contactless Payment Sign We’ve seen signage asking guests to limit the handling of products and we’ve also seen that many larger stores have defined entrances and exits. What About Samples? Smelling spices at The Spice Tea & Exchange, playing with Legos at the Lego Store, or trying on a little makeup at Sephora is half the fun of shopping! But what about samples and trying out new products right now? Sephora Upon entering The Spice & Tea Exchange, we were offered hand sanitizer. However, we were still able to open jars to get a sense of the 140-plus spice blends! The jars and displays were being regularly wiped down by Cast Members. The Spice & Tea Exchange As for Sephora, it’s offering freshly sanitized shopping baskets and wiping down counters, but testers are for display only and all Beauty Bar services are temporarily suspended. Safety Measures at Sephora We also recently stopped by the newly reopened Lego Store to get ourselves equipped for Legoland Florida’s June 1st reopening. LEGO Store employee shows a product to guests In addition to having just one working entrance, the shop’s interactive touch screen computers have been turned off and bins with build-your-own parts were unavailable. Computers are shut down in the LEGO Store Store associates were also on hand to give guests products — we were NOT allowed to grab items ourselves — and guests stood to the side of cashiers when purchasing items instead of in front of them. Click here to see more of our experience at the Lego Store! Where to Buy Face Masks at Disney Springs While we haven’t seen any face masks for sale yet at Disney-owned locations, we have spotted some at American Threads, Vera Bradley, and The Polite Pig. Vera Bradley Face Masks The stock at stores is always changing, so you never know what you’ll find at Disney Springs! Read about our shopping experience at Disney Springs here! Disney Springs Attractions The new Cirque du Soliel show, Drawn to Life, has been postponed and other Disney Springs attractions such as the NBA Experience and The VOID are closed. The Void ©Disney But there is one attraction you can still enjoy at Disney Springs! Soar in the Sky on the Aerophile The Aerophile, also known as the hot air balloon at Disney Springs, IS operating right now! Disney Springs Aerophile flights are available for $20 per person. The attraction is enforcing social distancing both in the line and in the balloon. Whereas you could wander the balloon before, now you need to stay in a designated spot while in flight. The queue area for Aerophile Cast members also told us they are wiping down the carriage area between parties to keep guests as safe as possible. Click here to learn more about riding the Aerophile in reopened Disney Springs Atmosphere Normally, when you walk around Disney Springs, there are bands playing music and street performers entertaining crowds. But right now, those performances are on pause. Stormtroopers But not ALL is lost. In fact, we spotted some particularly intimidating guys enforcing social distancing! That’s right…STORMTROOPERS were patrolling above Uno de 50 recently! They’ve since relocated to the balcony above AMC! Yes, there are STORMTROOPERS in Disney Springs today! While it’s a far cry from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, we’ll still take it! Click here to learn more about these unique security guards in Disney Springs! As you can see, we’ve been pounding the pavement at Disney Springs to bring you all the details you need for your next visit as well as spotting as much new stuff as we can find! Be sure to plan ahead for the dining and shopping experiences you want to visit, and you’ll set yourself up for a fantastic day at Disney Springs — even if it does look a little different than your last visit. 2. There are a LOT of changes coming to Disney World as it reopens, and we’re trying to wrap our heads around all of them. Disney World Refillable Mug Of course, Disney has talked us through some of the changes that we can expect, but a lot still feels up in the air. While we’re hearing lots of BIG news, we’re wondering if we’ll see some changes to smaller pieces of our Disney vacation. We’re REALLY wondering about those Refillable Mugs; let’s take a look at what could change! Disney’s Current Refillable Mug Policy First, let’s go through a reminder of Disney’s current refillable mug policy. Prior to the closures, guests were able to purchase specific souvenir RFID enabled mugs that would entitle them to unlimited free refills on fountain drinks, coffee, and tea from self-service beverage locations at Disney resorts for the length of their stay. Grab and Go and Refillable Mugs for Purchase Guests on the Disney Dining Plan each receive a mug as part of their dining plan. Guests who receive mugs as part of the Dining Plan can have their mugs refilled for the length of stay as well. Refillable Resort Mugs These purchase and refill locations are located in food courts, quick service locations, and pool bars at all Disney World resorts. Cast Members at the front desk can always inform you of refill locations around your resort. Click here to learn more about the refillable mug program! What could change? As you can imagine, these refillable mugs might not be the best thing for limiting touchpoints and keeping the new cleanliness and sanitation standards we’ll see when the parks and resorts reopen. Perhaps, we will see some changes with this policy! Resort Refillable Mug For one, self-service might not be a thing anymore. In the already-reopened Disney Springs, employees were usually the ones who filled cups up for customers at locations that previously had self-serve beverages. In this case, there may be no change except that Cast Members will take your refillable mug and fill it for you to reduce contact with the machines. Another potential solution has already been put to use at Wine Bar George in Disney Springs. The Basket at Wine Bar George typically has a refillable program with Corkcicle cups where you can get discounted refills on their frozen drinks. Now when you order, an employee gets you your refill in a plastic cup that you can then pour into your Corkcicle if you like. Full Refillable Resort Mug display If this is the case, we may see the free refills applied with possession of a refillable mug, but not IN your refillable mug. Disney could have Cast Members get your refill in a standard, disposable soda cup. New Corkcicle Procedure Another possibility of handling the refillable mug conundrum could be that the system will disappear altogether for a little while. Starbucks typically offers a reuseable mug discount but right now they are NOT serving in those mugs, even though they are still on sale. If Disney follows this model for the resorts, we may see a suspension of the refillable mug program temporarily. Refillable Mug Station It certainly will be interesting to see how Disney handles this aspect of reopening. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for updates on refillable mugs and everything else, so stay tuned in to DFB for the latest news! 4. After releasing a statement about racial disparities on May 31st, The Walt Disney Company and many of its subsidiaries have taken a stand against racism via a widespread social media campaign. Across the company, instagram streams including @disney, @pixar, @disneyanimation, @waltdisneyimagineering, @waltdisneyarchives, and more posted a straightforward message against racism, while other subsidiaries posted similar sentiments targeted to their unique audiences. The @abcnetwork instagram channel posted in solidarity with their “black colleagues, creators, performers…and every ally of the black community against systemic racism… .” ABC Network Instagram And Disney-owned @ESPN has dedicated several social posts to the topic, including quoting Gregg Popovich, head coach and President of the San Antonio Spurs, calling for change. 8. Last week, Disney World’s official reopening date was announced, but with this big news came much confusion. Breakfast a la Art Entrees Since Disney World would have to operate with a limited capacity upon reopening, we were told a brand new reservation system would be implemented. This meant temporarily suspending ticket sales and hotel reservations as well as canceling every existing FastPass, and every dining reservation Disney World had on its books. All Disney Dining Plans have also been canceled at this time. Topolino’s Terrace in Disney’s Riviera Resort All of this news was a lot to take in. In fact, it was so unbelievable, a lot of folks quickly went into their MyDisneyExpeience apps to see if in fact their reservations had been canceled, but they were even more confused when they saw all of their plans were still there! Topolino’s Terrace Keep in mind — Disney World has thousands upon thousands of guest reservations to work through and it’s going to take some time to cancel them all. Just today, one of our team members received an email notifying her one of her dining reservations had been canceled. Screenshot of Email from Disney World Regarding Dining Reservations The email states, “As a result of limited capacity, we have made the difficult decision to cancel existing dining reservations.” and that some dining and other experience bookings may be suspended up Disney World’s reopening such as character meals. 15. With Disney World’s theme park reopening set for July 11th, we’ve been looking out for some updates on the status of Disneyland Resort. The Disneyland Hotel Up until this point, Disneyland Resort has only been taking new reservations for July 1st and later, but today, they have pushed that date back. Now, Disneyland has pushed that date back. New reservations for Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel are currently only available for dates July 15th and later. The resort has pushed the earliest reservation date back 15 days from the previous July 1st date. Disneyland Site Screenshot Disney World was also recently accepting reservations starting July 1st until it was announced that the parks would not be opening until later in the month. Now, reservations and ticket sales are completely on hold so that Disney World can accommodate those who already had reservations. 18. Whenever we see a new piece of Disney merchandise, it’s pretty hard to have self-control (it’s just all so cute!!). Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction Space Mountain Ears While you’re shopping your way through Disney World, it’s easy to get distracted by all the merchandise everywhere! Minnie Ears here, Loungefly backpacks there, Glow Spinners everywhere! Although it may seem like a challenge to decide what to buy first and which gift shops to visit, not all gift shops are created equal. Gone are the days of finding the same ol’ same ol’ in every gift shop. If you want to know the BEST shops in Magic Kingdom to find the most unique merch, we’ve got you covered! Memento Mori We’re BIG fans of all things spooky (we might even love Halloween more than Christmas), so Memento Mori is where it’s AT for us. First of all, the gift shop next to the Haunted Mansion looks like another run-down house which 999 more happy haunts probably inhabit (so A+ for theming, Disney). Memento Mori Memento Mori carries exclusive merchandise from the attraction, like glassware with the Haunted Mansion logo, placemats with the famous purple wallpaper, spirit jerseys, and more. But, some real spooky stuff happens over at the gift shop during Halloween time and the Haunted Mansion’s anniversary. We’ve spotted strange and unusual items like the Host-a-Ghost Jars that will give you hot and cold running chills whenever you turn off the lights (AHHHH!!). Host a Ghost Jars Plus, Memento Mori is the only place you can get Haunted Mansion themed snacks year-round, like gummy spiders, bat chocolate pops, and tombstone cookies. They take shop ’til you drop pretty literally over in Liberty Square! Tombstone Cookies If you’re a big Haunted Mansion fan, you won’t find most of this gear ANYWHERE else in Disney World, so stop in before a trip to the Mansion to see if you find anything you’re dying to have! Click here to see some of the latest goodies we found in Memento Mori Hundred Acre Goods Okay, nobody can tell us we’re too old for stuffed animals, especially when they’re as cute as Winnie the Pooh! After you exit The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride in Fantasyland, you can look around the Hundred Acre Goods store with ALL things Winnie and friends. Winnie the Pooh at The Crystal Palace While it’s one of the only places you can get unique merchandise with the original book character designs (other than Epcot’s UK Pavilion), you can also find fluffy oversized Pooh toys and the sweetest baby clothes. It’s the perfect stop for a souvenir or a gift to take home to a loved one — or even an outfit to commemorate your little one’s first trip to Disney World! The Chapeau Okay Minnie Ears and Mickey Ear Hats, fans! This one is for you! If you’re looking for a spot to look at all the Minnie Ears imaginable (AKA our closet back home), The Chapeau is a great place to try on a new pair or two that will go great with your outfit! If you’re more of a Mickey Ear Hat person, you can also get it personalized with your name while you’re at the shop! New Briar Rose Gold Minnie Ears Each of the Mickey Ear Hats run $14.99 to $24.99 depending on what design you choose. However, the additional embroidery costs $3 for a basic font or $7 for a premium font, which is worth it for a memorable keepsake. Bride and Groom Mickey Ears Hats While you’re waiting for your ear hat to be finished, you can also find a little secret at The Chapeau. If you pick up the telephone on the wall in the corner of the store, you can listen in on a phone call between two Main Street residents! What’s the hot goss of the day, friends?? Click here to see other secrets you may not know in Disney World Big Top Souvenirs Storybook Circus is actually one of the newest (and cutest) parts of Fantasyland, nestled into the back corner with Dumbo the Flying Elephant, the Casey Jr. Splash Zone, the Barnstormer, and a killer view of the construction on the TRON Coaster. Big Top Souvenirs Big Top Souvenirs might also have the most unique gift shop appearance in Magic Kingdom since it’s modeled after a giant circus tent. While you can find a lot of awesome plushes (still not over that Duchess Cozy Knit) and pins, it has a lot of the merchandise you’d normally find in the Emporium — just in a quieter part of the park. Big Top Treats But, the BEST part of Big Top is the store WITHIN a store here! Big Top Treats is a little confectionery housed in the center of the store where you can get some of your favorite Disney treats, like candy apples, rice krispie treats, and more! Plus, you can even get a Goofy’s Glacier Slush so you have something to sip on as you stroll through Fantasyland. So while the Main Street Confectionery has a line out the door, you can pop back here and get all the same stuff with scarcely a queue! Big Top Treats While Big Top closed last year for a carpet refurbishment after some unexpected flooding, the location is back open (well, it will be when Disney World re-opens ;)). Click here to see more of the changes that came to Big Top Souvenirs! Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe Christmas in July is TOTALLY a thing — and this Liberty Square gift shop is the place to celebrate the holidays! Similar to Days of Christmas in Disney Springs, the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe is filled with Christmas decorations and gifts throughout the year (maybe it’s secretly Santa’s remote North Pole location in Magic Kingdom??). Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe You can peruse some of the most beautiful Disney ornaments around and you can even get them personalized for about $4 per word or date! You can add a name, date, or other personal touches to make your Christmas more magical — plus, this is a great gift to bring back to a loved one at home! Merry Christmas Ornament This spot is well stocked with everything you need to deck the halls all year. If your family is looking for one-of-a-kind ornaments to commemorate your special trip, this is the place to stop! Oh, and if you’re here as a family or around Christmastime, don’t forget that a lucky family gets to decorate the tree here each day! And you can send letters to Santa! Send Letters to Santa at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe! Uptown Jewelers We are BIG fans of The Dress Shop dresses — like enough to the point out that our closet has started to get filled with them. That’s why Uptown Jewelers is the perfect spot to shop ’til ya drop and pick up a few dressy things to feel like your own version of a Disney Princess! The Main Street store not only sells dresses, but it’s one of the few locations in Magic Kingdom that you can find Pandora jewelry, Dooney & Bourke bags, and Alex and Ani jewelry. The Minnie Dress Plus, there are even different special mementos (like those sweet Precious Moments dolls) and artwork available for sale throughout the store. Uptown Jewelers has also been known to host different events and merch, like the Citizens Watch event or the Annual Passholder Pandora charms, so you can keep your eye out for new and exciting things the next time you’re visiting! Tomorrowland Light and Power Co. Although this is one of the few spots that you can get Space Mountain themed merchandise after exiting the attraction, this is Magic Kingdom’s hub for personalized items too! If you head to the Tomorrowland Light and Power Co. in Magic Kingdom, you can make your own custom tees (so you can REALLY remember how awesome that family vacation was when you wear it). Space Mountain After you pick what color tee you want to put your design on, you can get creative with it and add phrases, names, dates, images, and more! Then, you send it off to be printed in-store. And, if you order it by 5 PM, you can typically get your design back the same day you submit for $29.99 for adult tees, $39.99 for women’s tees, and $24.99 for kids’ tees. Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. There is a kiosk to customize your own MagicBands and phone cases with your name and design of your choice! After you’ve sent your awesome new MagicBand or case off to be made (we know it’s gonna look so good), you can pick them up for $32.99 per band and $44.95 per phone case! D-Tech Princess MagicBands Oh, and make sure to add the code on back of the MagicBand to your My Disney Experience account to link it and use it in the parks. Want a new MagicBand without the work? Check these out you can buy NOW! The Emporium We couldn’t have a Magic Kingdom shopping post without the Emporium, you know! This spot has been hailed one of the best places in all of DISNEY WORLD to get souvenirs. The huge store practically takes up one whole side of Main Street with different sections of merchandise — we’re talkin’ a men’s section, kids’ section, plush section, and so on! If you can dream it, you can probably find it at the Emporium! Main Street Emporium There are Minnie Ears, clothing, houseware items, toys, and even items for your pets (and gadgets and gizmos a-plenty)! It could honestly even be your one-stop shop for souvenirs to take back home for yourself or loved ones since there’s a little bit of something for everyone! Plus, we highly recommend perusing the store after fireworks to avoid the crowds and maybe even catch that “Kiss Goodnight” in Magic Kingdom. Main Street Emporium Display Magic Kingdom’s definitely the place to use those Disney gift cards grandma and grandpa keep sending you! Just make sure not to spend it all in one place (get one thing in each of THESE unique gift shops instead, duh)! If you look around, you’ll find some really unique and cool goodies sold in shops you might not expect, so keep your eyes (and wallets) ready! Check out the top ten things you can personalize with your name in Disney World here! What is your favorite gift shop to visit in Magic Kingdom? Let us know in the comments below! 22. Whispering Canyon Cafe is a casual table service restaurant located just off the lobby at Walt Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge, and it’s known for its antics that are decidedly not whispering. But you might recall that a couple of years ago the Canyon reportedly grew quieter — check out the changes here! Whispering Canyon Cafe I revisited after the changes were made and found the restaurant’s energy to be a shadow of its former self (click here to find out why!) But since then, Whispering Canyon Cafe introduced new skillets, so we’re back again! Atmosphere A fixture of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Whispering Canyon Cafe is a massive restaurant known for the antics of the servers who are your fellow pioneers. Whispering Canyon Cafe And as mentioned before, the antics have been toned down a bit in order to keep the rowdiness from spilling out into the lobby of the hotel, but the servers are definitely still a bit irreverent! Think about the servers at 50’s Prime Time Cafe, if you’ve been. Wilderness Lodge Holiday Decor Despite the toned-down antics, this restaurant definitely still has a personality all its own. And you’re still likely to end up with a super-large drink or a dozen bottles of ketchup if your server senses you’re in need of a little something extra! Whispering Canyon Cafe Eats I’m here for breakfast to see how the most important meal of the day stacks up! Breakfast Menu at Whispering Canyon Cafe Breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe offers a variety of eats to please just about everyone in your group, from carnivores to vegetarians. Cocktails and specialty beverages are identified at the top of the menu for those on Disney Dining Plan who receive a complimentary drink (and those not on the plan who’d still like to imbibe!). Breakfast Menu at Whispering Canyon Cafe Meat-lovers are up first with one of the restaurant’s All-You-Care-to-Enjoy Signature Skillets: The Carnivore. This skillet includes House-Smoked Ham, Oak-Smoked Beef Brisket, Hickory-Smoked Bacon, Pork Sausage Links, Scrambled Eggs, and House-Made Buttermilk-Cheddar Biscuits with Sausage Gravy. With the exception of the biscuit, this is a decent option for those following a keto diet. And everything is pretty good. If you like to start your day heavy on the protein, this is a good choice! The Carnivore All-You-Care-to-Enjoy Skillet There are two Benedicts on the menu, including the Traditional Eggs Benedict which consists of two Poached Eggs atop a House-Made Buttermilk-Cheddar Biscuit with House-Smoked Ham, Hollandaise Sauce, and a side of Country Potatoes. This is fine, if uninspired. Traditional Eggs Benedict The Vegetable Eggs Benedict is a good option, too. It consists of two Poached Eggs atop a House-Made Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuit with Tomato, Smashed Avocado, Cilantro-Lime Hollandaise Sauce, and a side of Fresh Fruit. The flavors are good here, with the fresh avocado and the Cilantro-Lime Hollandaise offer a bit of a welcome twist. The side of fruit…is mostly melon, so be forewarned. You might want to swap out for the potatoes! Vegetable Eggs Benedict Traditional breakfast items include pancakes — called Flapjacks on the menu! These come with Bourbon-Maple Syrup (ask for straight maple if you prefer) and a choice of Hickory-Smoked Bacon, Pork Sausage Link, or Fruit. These were fine but definitely a bit pricy for what you get at $14. Flapjacks The Belgian Waffle comes with Fresh Berries and a side of bacon or sausage. No Mickey-shaped waffle for the grown-ups; but if you’re really craving a Mickey waffle for breakfast, you’ll find some on the kids’ menu! (Remember when they had those cute pinecone-shaped waffles way back in the day? Memories!) We found the Belgian waffle to be nice and crisp, and it was a solid option for breakfast. Belgian Waffle The Bircher Muesli (Swiss Oatmeal) comes with Fresh Fruit, and Yogurt. This is a great choice for those looking to fill up without getting weighed down. Steel-Cut Oatmeal And the antics? They were so/so again. We received the extra-large soda after finishing a normal-size drink quickly, and there were ketchup deliveries, too. Giant Soda! We still feel like the carefree fun of the old days is subdued somewhat, but if you haven’t been to Whispering Canyon Cafe, you’ll likely still get a kick out of its current level of irreverence! Note that the kids’ hobby horse races DO still happen. Nosh or Not? Whispering Canyon Cafe may be right for you if: You’re looking for an option that will really fill you up — the all you can eat skillets can help you out there! You want to experience the restaurant’s notoriously fun antics. High protein meals are your jam — again The Carnivore Skillet will do the trick! You want to take a break from the Magic Kingdom for a meal without traveling too far away. Wilderness Lodge is only a quick boat (or bus) ride away! You may want to skip Whispering Canyon Cafe if: A loud, rowdy dining atmosphere is not your thing. You’re looking for super unique or inventive menu items. It’s date night or another special occasion — the antics are fun, but they don’t make for the most romantic experience! Overall The meal and experience were fine overall — not the best meal we’ve had on property, but still filling with some tasty menu items! The skillets are a great option if you’re looking to really fill up, but in general, the food feels pretty standard rather than memorable. We’ve also had some issues with service at WCC recently. It seems like the restaurant is chronically understaffed, and so that can mean very long waits if you need anything extra at your table. We used to be much larger proponents of this restaurant, but having been several times at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, things have definitely been slipping. With so-so food, meh-to-bad service, and the restaurant just not really hitting the mark atmosphere-wise any longer…it’s probably not a must-do unless you’re staying at Wilderness Lodge. Check out these NEW menu items that recently made their way to Whispering Canyon Cafe! Have you had breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe? Let us know what you thought in the comments!
