  1. Planning a trip to Disney World in March? We’ve got the details you need to maximize the magic on your vacation! Walt Disney World’s Epcot You can make memories on a Disney World vacation that will last a lifetime! But how can you make sure that you’re looking back on happy memories instead of meltdowns? Well, by preparing for your trip! And Disney World planning can vary A LOT depending on what time of year you plan to travel. Here are the deets you need to make your March vacation magical! Crowds at Disney World in March The month of March means Spring Break for many schools across the United States. And that also means more crowds! Since Spring Break schedules vary by school and year, the attendance can fluctuate day by day. But in general, you should prepare for moderate to heavy crowds throughout the month. Main Street, U.S.A There is somewhat of a silver lining here — since Spring Breaks are spread out, the crowds aren’t usually quite as crazy as the holiday season. But, if you’re used to traveling to Disney World in months like January, February, or September, prepare yourself for busier parks! Traveling at a super-busy time? Check out our ultimate survival guide for the most crowded days in Disney World! Park Hours at Disney World in March We typically see pretty steady park hours throughout the month of March. Most of the parks will open at 8:00 or 9:00AM and close at 8:00 or 9:00PM. Animal Kingdom Entrance But, to help absorb the heavier Spring Break crowds, Magic Kingdom usually stays open a little later than the other parks. Magic Kingdom tends to close at 10:00 or 11:00PM in March. Looking for late-night fun in Disney World? Check out our guide to the Villains After Hours Events in Magic Kingdom! Weather at Disney World in March Most people will find the weather pretty pleasant during this time of year! In March, the average high temperature is 79 degrees and the average low temperature is 57 degrees. Toy Story Land There are an average of 5 rainy days throughout the month, which means March is usually much drier than the summer months in Disney World! So, if you’re looking for warm temperatures without scorching heat while avoiding the infamous Florida storms, March could be your lucky month! Planning your Disney World trip? Here are seven things you’re probably forgetting! How to Pack for Disney World in March The afternoons in March can get pretty warm, but you still might have some chilly mornings and evenings at the parks! So, make sure you pack layers that you can wear out in the morning and store in your park bag when it starts to heat up. Trust us, having a sweatshirt, hat, (and if you get really chilly) a scarf, and gloves will go a long way! Belle of The Ball Bronze On the other hand, since the weather does start to warm up mid-day, don’t forget to pack your swimsuit if you plan to take advantage of your hotel pool! Are you choosing the right Disney World hotel?? Here are our tips to point you in the right direction! Annual Ride Refurbishments This is an important thing to keep an eye out for, especially if you’re a huge fan of water attractions! Both Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom and Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom usually go down for annual maintenance in early January. They typically reopen by early or mid-March, but be sure to check the refurbishment schedule on the Disney World park calendar for the exact reopening dates, especially if you’re planning a trip for early in the month! Splash Mountain refurbishment And the same thing goes for the Disney World water parks! Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach undergo maintenance each winter, typically during different months, but work is typically finished around mid-March. If your family is big on the water parks, be sure to check on the refurbishment schedule when you first start planning! What should you do when your Disney trip is a total FAILURE? Here are our tips for turning your vacay around! Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival One of the highlights of springtime in Disney World is the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival! This festival typically kicks off in early March and runs through late-May or early-June. And we definitely suggest you check it out if it’s running during your visit! Epcot Flower and Garden There’s plenty to see and do at the festival. Of course, as its name suggests, there are plenty of beautiful blooms to take in! There are over twenty topiary displays throughout the park that feature some of our favorite Disney characters! Topiaries Plus, there are other gardens and displays throughout the park, including a bamboo garden, butterfly garden, floating gardens, and more! Butterfly House And it wouldn’t be an Epcot festival without FOOD! There are Outdoor Kitchens set up around the Promenade and World Showcase that feature delicious food and beverage options. A few of our favorites from previous years include the Violet Lemonade, Local Wildflower Honey-Mascarpone Cheesecake, and Salmon Flower Ikura! Salmon Flower Ikura Guests who want to dig a little deeper can also check out one of the extra-ticketed special events or tours! We’ve seen a Royal Tea Garden Tour, Gardens of the World Tour, Egg-Stravaganza Scavenger Hunt, and more! Egg-stravaganza 2019 Plus, there’s a FREE entertainment option as well! The Garden Rocks Concert Series features three nightly performances that are included in the price of park admission. These events are popular though, so you’ll need to get there early to ensure you get a spot! Or, to secure your seat without the wait, you can opt for the Garden Rocks Dining Package, which includes dinner and guaranteed seating at the concert! Rock out at the Garden Rocks concerts! The Flower and Garden Festival is an all-around good time, with delicious food, exciting entertainment, and gorgeous topiaries and displays! It’s definitely a must-do for us when visiting Disney World in March! Wondering what eats to get at Flower and Garden? Check out our Best of the Fest list from the 2020 festival! March can be a great time to visit Disney World. We love wandering the Flower and Garden Festival and soaking in the warm afternoons by the pool! But, in order to really get the most out of the trip, you have to be prepared! Be aware of those Spring Break crowds and ride refurbishments and plan accordingly. 2. It’s remarkable to think that almost a year has passed since we held the dedication of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and later at Walt Disney World Resort. We are gratified by just how much fans have embraced this unique place. Today, I’m excited to share that later this year, you will be able to discover new stories, explore the outskirts of Batuu, and meet new characters from your home thanks to ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm’s award-winning entertainment studio, and Oculus Studios. Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is a new action-adventure experience that will give fans the opportunity to live their own adventures in virtual reality. The original story will feature both new and iconic characters from the Star Wars galaxy. Multiple styles of gameplay as well as difficulty settings are included so that the experience can be enjoyed by a variety of players – from Star Wars fans to VR gamers. Just like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the story will take place between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on Batuu, with the action happening along the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. This extension of the storytelling found at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge builds on the lore of a land that has redefined what a Disney park experience can be, and we can’t wait for you to experience it yourself! Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more details on this new virtual reality experience that is coming out later this year! View the full article

And just as spectacular – the Hungry Bear’s Bison Bison Blue burger at Disneyland park and the delicious burger at Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Also, for Hamburger Day, we’re releasing the recipe for the popular Hawaiian Cheese Burger and green papaya slaw from Tangaroa Terrace at the Disneyland Hotel. Click here for a print-at-home version of this recipe! At Hong Kong Disneyland, the amazing Beetroot and Cheese Burger is inspired by the Marvel-themed attraction, “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!” Other popular offerings during the launch of the attraction include a Green Tea Cheese Burger with a green bun and a superhero-themed Spicy Chicken Burger. There are many great burger options at the Walt Disney World Resort and today, we’re focused on the unique Cajun King Burger with Andouille sausage and Creole mustard aioli at the Port Orleans Resort. Also, the popular Southwest Burger from the ABC Commissary at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a special treat – piled high with Pepper Jack cheese, bacon, guacamole and jalapeño poppers. Also at the Walt Disney World Resort, the fantastic Mickey Burger at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café comes with macaroni and cheese, American cheese, cheese sauce, flaming hot cheese dust, and bacon served on a Mickey Mouse bun. And If you need a burger fix ASAP, you can head over to D-Luxe Burger – now open at Disney Springs – for the Southern Burger, a masterpiece topped with a Fried Green Tomato, Pimento Cheese, Lettuce, Grilled Onion and Bacon. As many of you know, we offer delectable plant-based options at our parks and resort hotels, and there are several favorites to share on Hamburger Day. At Shanghai Disneyland Resort, the Gamma Ray Plant Burger features a large vegetable-based “pork chop”, sweet and sour tomato sauce and fresh lettuce in between a green matcha-flavor bun. Other offerings include the BBQ Jackfruit Burger, a plant-based sandwich on garlic toast topped with BBQ jackfruit, that’s part of the Regal Eagle Smokehouse’s celebration of backyard barbecue at EPCOT, and the popular Impossible Burger with Vegan Chipotle Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato, and Cherry Peppers at Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park at the Walt Disney World Resort. Upon reopening, guests will need to make a reservation in order to visit the parks, and some entertainment such as parades, fireworks, and character meet-and-greets will be temporarily suspended. 7. There have been a ton of announcements about the Disney World theme parks today, but there’s news coming out of Disney Springs as well! Paradiso 37 Outside View Disney Springs began a phased reopening on May 20th, with select third-party shopping and dining locations welcoming back guests. Paradiso 37 is one of the Disney Springs dining locations that reopened on May 20th. But while they’ve previously opened their doors at 4 PM each day, they announced that they will open at noon starting tomorrow, May 28th! Wall of Tequila in the Paradiso 37 Downstairs Bar We saw much more activity at Disney Springs today with the reopening of World of Disney, Marketplace Co-Op, and D-Luxe Burger. We’ll keep an eye out for other changes and updates about Disney Springs, so stay tuned! Here are the 8 biggest Disney Springs menu changes that happened this week! Have you dined at Paradiso 37? 8. Disney Springs kicked off its phased reopening last week. While we originally saw third-party stores and restaurants open back up to guests, a few Disney-owned locations opened their doors again today. D-Luxe Burger We’ve already given you a look at what’s hoppin’ at the World of Disney and now we’re taking you with us to grab a burger, fries, and a shake at the reopened D-Luxe Burger! D-Luxe Burger is a great place if you’re looking for a quick meal or snack. But, it’s also AWESOME because the restaurant rolls out unique burgers (Pizza Burger, we’re looking at you!) along with classic meals. Waiting In Line Before you walk into the restaurant, there are distancing markers on the ground to separate parties from each another. D-Luxe Burger Markers D-Luxe is currently accepting Mobile Order ONLY — unless you have an allergy — in which case you can order inside. After you tap the “I’m here” button in the My Disney Experience app, you wait outside behind physical distance markers. Once your order is ready, a Cast Member will direct you into the restaurant. D-Luxe Mobile Order While we were there, we encountered a small exception to the outdoor queue. Cast Members let us wait under the patio cover as it started pouring rain — but we still had to remain at least six feet apart from other guests. D-Luxe Cast Member When our order was ready, we headed in! Picking Up Your Order They gave us a station number were our food was waiting for us. Each station had napkins, utensils, and packaged condiments. Food Pick-Up Station For signature sauces, you can order them in the app or request them from a Cast Member but ONLY garlic ranch and curry ketchup were available during our visit. A Cast Member kindly brought out the extra sauce in a no-touch basket. No=Touch Sauces We noticed that if you order a bottled drink, it will be served alongside your food at the pickup station. But if you ordered a fountain beverage, Cast Members will assist you at the machines. Drink Station If you order booze or a shake, your bag will have a sticker that says that your order is unfinished. D-Luxe Order You’ll head to a separate counter to pick up your specialty beverage. Seating Similar to the rest of Disney Springs, Guests and Cast Members are both required to wear masks, but guests may remove their masks to eat or drink. Limited Spaced Tables The tables were separated at least six feet apart from one another, and there were some spots that were sectioned off for the time being. Unavailable Table The outdoor seating was increased to allow more guests to grab tables at a safe distance. Outdoor Seating Overall, the pickup procedure was streamlined and we could tell they aimed to reduce contact that could commonly occur at a traditional mobile-order pickup. You can read more about the new logistics of Disney Springs here! Eats While we were there, we ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, the Plant-based Pacific Island Burger, some of those delish Fresh-cut Fries, and the Strawberry Gelato Shake. D-Luxe Spread The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was A+!!! It was a Fried Chicken Breast topped with Buffalo-Ranch Sauce, Blue Cheese Crumbles, Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato for $12.49. Open Buffalo Chicken Sandwich The chicken in this sandwich was fried to perfection and it was a really good-sized piece too! We loved the way that the flavors came together to give us that classic buffalo chicken profile. Our only complaint was we could’ve used a tad more buffalo sauce. Also, if you’re not a blue cheese fan, order it without! You can definitely taste the blue cheese! Buffalo Chicken Sandwich Next up is the Plant-based Pacific Island Burger. It was made from a Plant-based Patty with Cabbage and Mushroom Ragout, Mango Salsa, Lettuce, and Dill Pickles on Plant-based Parker House Roll with the same price of $12.49. Plant-based Burger We’re big meat-eaters so we thought this sammie was just fine. We probably wouldn’t get it again, but it might be a real hit with someone on a plant-based diet! After the beautiful harmony of the buffalo sauce and ranch, these flavors didn’t quite strike the same chord. Mushroom, mango, and pickles? We’re fans of each, but maybe not so much when they are stacked together. Split Plant-based Burger But we could rely on our old friend! The $4.99 Fresh-cut Fries were an absolute delight. Also, we are big fans of the signature sauces at D-Luxe. We love the curry ketchup and we would probably take a bath in the garlic ranch if we could. Fresh-cut Fries Finally, we had that super tempting Strawberry Gelato Shake, and yes, it was as good as it sounds. Think: Vanilla Gelato blended with Milk and Strawberry Sauce, topped with Whipped Cream, Strawberry drizzle, and Maraschino Cherry. Ugh, now we’re thinking about it again. Maybe we’ll go get another… . Strawberry Gelato Shake The consistency of this shake was super smooth and sippable. Plus, it felt like it was made with really high-quality ingredients and you can definitely taste the difference. Next time you’re at D-Luxe, give it a try for $7.50. Nosh or Not? Snag a bite at D-Luxe Burger if: You want a classic AND quality meal of burgers and fries. You’re tired of the plain old milkshakes and are looking for something a cut above. You think you’ll love garlic ranch as much as we do. Dine elsewhere if: You’re looking for something on the lighter side. You want to have a nice, slow, sit-down meal. You want to swing for something more unique than a burger and fries. Overall We love a trip to D-Luxe Burger. The menu items are consistently good and we can rely on this spot for a hearty lunch on a Disney Springs day. Even better, D-Luxe had an IMPRESSIVE grasp on health measures so if that’s a concern for you, this spot might tick all your boxes. Still, if you’re looking for something a little more creative than burgers (and trust us, there are some creative options in Disney Springs), you may want to head elsewhere. Overall though, we’re still impressed with how D-Luxe is doing things on and off the menu and you can bet we’ll be back for more. Read about our full dining experience at Disney Springs here! 14. Mobile Order is a service available to Walt Disney World guests through the My Disney Experience app. It allows guests to pre-order and pre-pay for their food at participating Counter Service restaurants around Disney World. D-Luxe Burger Upon arrival to the restaurant, guests using Mobile Order can bypass the ordering queue and go straight to a designated Pick Up Counter to get their food. And today, when we used Mobile Order for our visit to the newly reopened D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs, we noticed a new feature in the app. Previously, when guests ordered a meal using Mobile Order in Walt Disney World, they would select their restaurant from the list of participating locations, then proceed to choose their food and beverage items. Mobile Order Pickup Sign at D-Luxe Burger Though a “Please Arrive Between” time was noted upon starting the order, it essentially allowed guests the chance to pick their food up at any time prior to the location’s closing time that day. Today, however, we found that it was necessary to choose an Arrival Window designating a specific half hour time slot before moving into the item selection. Select An Arrival Window Screenshot Now, we should note that though this is the first time we’ve seen this particular part of the process utilized in Walt Disney World, Mobile Order in Disneyland has always required guests to select an Arrival Window before beginning to place their order for their chosen location, as seen in the example from Mobile Order’s Disneyland debut below. Disneyland Mobile Order screenshot Will this be the norm moving forward with Mobile Order in Walt Disney World? D-Luxe Burger is the only currently open location that offers Mobile Order, so it is a bit difficult to say with certainty. However, in light of the new safety measures currently being implemented in Disney Springs and proposed for the reopening of the rest of the Resort, this is more than likely part of the measures to limit capacity within individual restaurants in order to promote physical distancing. Mobile Order Arrival Window selected for D-Luxe Burger Other measures that Disney mentioned during its proposal with regards to dining include contactless menus and encouraged use of contactless payment. It was also noted that Mobile Order would be further enabled at food and beverage locations, so it’s possible that the list of locations that offer Mobile Order may be growing. D-Luxe Burger Sneak Peek! This isn’t the last you’ll hear from us at D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs today! After all… we placed our order, so you may be wondering what we got to eat on our first trip back! We’ll be sharing our review (and the rest of our experience using Mobile Order) with you here soon, so we hope you’ll stay tuned! 15. We’ve waited for this day and it has finally arrived! The Daily Poutine has officially reopened at Disney Springs! Daily Poutine Our love of all things poutine at Disney World compelled us to stop by and see if anything had changed at this walk-up window location, and if any new procedures were in place! We got in line at The Daily Poutine shortly after joining the virtual queue for World of Disney. The virtual queue system works great because while you wait for your turn to shop, you can grab some delicious poutine! What a win-win situation! Reopened Daily Poutine We spotted all our classic favorites on the menu: Italian, Classic, French, and Latin poutine are available for purchase! Daily Poutine Menu Read our first review of The Daily Poutine here! Credit card readers were available for payment methods. They were also accepting contactless payment, which we anticipate at more dining locations in the coming weeks. Daily Poutine Credit Card Reader In accordance with the new health and safety protocols at Disney Springs, Cast Members were seen wearing face masks as well as gloves. Reopened Daily Poutine Instead of the bowls we’re used to seeing the poutine served in, they were handing out paper boats instead. We’re not sure if this was just a temporary change or more permanent, so we’ll be sure to check back in the coming days and let you know. We ordered the Classic Poutine — a combo of crisp french fries, cheese curds, and gravy for $9.49. These are a substantial serving and do not disappoint (especially for breakfast, in our case!). Poutine! One of the biggest changes we saw was the new, contactless utensil dispensers. These were surprisingly cool — simple grab a handle and pull gently to remove your utensil and a new one pops out in its place! New sanitary utensil dispenser at Daily Poutine If you’re craving poutine next time you’re at Disney Springs, The Daily Poutine is OPEN and back in the swing of things, so stop by and grab some delicious fries! 16. This morning, Disney World proposed a reopening plan to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force. Magic Kingdom In order to get the approval ball rolling on their anticipated July 11th reopening date, the parks were required to undergo an inspection by local health professionals. This group took a look at how ready Disney World is to institute their proposed plan. Let’s take a look at what they found out and the conclusion they came to! Jon Weiss, a Director for the Planning, Environmental and Development Services Department in Orange County, explained the results of the inspection to the Task Force today. The team performed inspections in both SeaWorld and Walt Disney World yesterday and determined that both properties were prepared to implement their proposed plans. Attraction Reopening Plans The inspection team was made up of Florida Health Department and Orange County officials including two epidemiologists, an EMS Medical Director, and some government officials. According to Weiss, the team looked into wellness protocols for employees and the guest arrival process including parking, temperature checks, security, and ticketing. They evaluated the health operations in restaurants with mobile order and table separation and queue management with social distancing and changes in seating on rides as well. Attraction Reopening Plans Further, they compared park readiness in respect to hand-sanitizing stations and cleaning protocols for high-touch surfaces. As mentioned, both SeaWorld and Disney World were deemed ready to implement their respective plans. From there, the plan was approved by the mayor and will now move to be approved by the Florida governor. Friendship Boat We will keep you updated on the approval process! 17. While plans to reopen Disney World’s theme parks are currently in the works, Disney Springs began welcoming back guests last week. World of Disney We took you with us to see several of the third-party stores and restaurants that have already reopened, but today is the first day that Disney-owned locations have started reopening to the public. Hours World of Disney is now open to guests from 10AM to 10PM every day, which are the same new reduced hours for Disney Springs. Disney Springs Disney Springs was noticeably way more crowded today than it has been lately. Even over Memorial Day weekend, this place was a ghost town, but now that World of Disney has reopened this place has really come to life! You can read more about the new logistics of Disney Springs here! Crowds We arrived at World of Disney a little before 9AM for the anticipated 10AM opening today. When we visited last week, we noticed there were several social distancing markers already on the ground outside the store suggesting that Disney was prepared for a long line of guests. World of Disney Stickers And there were some loooooong lines when we got there this morning! By the time we arrived (more than an hour early, mind you!) the wait time to enter World of Disney was approximately three-hours long. So many people were there that they had to add more tape to the ground while Cast Members were guiding guests to stand six feet apart until more social distancing markers could be placed! Learn more about Disney Springs’ mandatory health and safety measures here! Lines around World of Disney Keep in mind, the line we waited in this morning wasn’t to enter World of Disney right away — it was to put in your name for a callback time. Click here to read our FULL guide to decoding the new stickers throughout Disney Springs! Cast Member Checking in Guests at World of Disney Once we made it to the front of the line, we gave a Cast Member our name and phone number. He entered our information into his tablet, and once we were on the list, we were free to roam around Disney Springs until it was time! Disney used a virtual queue to call guests wanting to enter World of Disney back when it was their turn. You can read more about this unexpected virtual queue here. Wait Time For us, the three-hour wait time estimate was a little off. We were told we would be receiving a text message about 15 minutes before our World of Disney window opened up. We would then have 30 minutes to return to the store. Text to Enter World of Disney As it turned out, we submitted our names and phone numbers to the Cast Member at World of Disney around 9:10AM and received a text to return to around 11:28AM — so our wait was just over two hours, not three hours as originally projected. We were instructed to go check-in with a Cast Member stationed at the World of Disney entrance near Amorette’s Patisserie. Only one entrance and one exit at World of Disney are open to guests at this time. Shopping Once inside, we were told there was no time limit — and no dollar-limit! We were free to spend as long as we wanted inside World of Disney. Social Distancing Signs We noticed several new pieces of health and safety signage had been placed throughout the store reminding guests to practice social distancing while they shopped. World of Disney Hand Sanitizer Stations Several hand sanitizer stations had also been added to the salesfloor for guests and Cast Members to use. Hand Sanitizer Please Limit Contact Signs Meanwhile, shoppers were encouraged not to over-handle products. We saw similar signage posted at several third-party businesses including Arribas Bros. last week. Protect the Magic Signs Guest Compliance We noticed shoppers were being mindful of each other while plenty of Cast Members were around for additional assistance. Jewelry Displays Guests at Disney Springs must wear their face masks at all times, something we noticed both guests and Cast Members seemed to be complying with. Read more about our shopping experience at other Disney Springs locations here! Checkout At checkout, Cast Members were on hand to help with managing the queue, ensuring guests were social distancing while they waited. Social distancing markers were also present in the checkout line, showing guests where they could stand before moving forward. Please Stand Here Markers at Checkout Similar to what we’ve seen at other Disney Springs stores and restaurants, plexiglass shields have been installed at each cash register. Check Out Signage encouraging the use of contactless forms of payment have also been posted at each checkout counter, but cash is still being accepted. Check out our experience with grab and go food and drink locations in Disney Springs here! Contactless Payment Sign Get a FIRST LOOK at the new health and safety signage Disney World will have when the theme parks reopen here! Overall Experience Crowds were much higher today than they have been previously. However, things ran smoothly and there were plenty of Cast Members around to make sure that guests were complying with the new regulations. Overall, the store didn’t feel too crowded and we were able to get in and out quickly and efficiently. Check out all of our coverage from the reopening of Disney Spring here! 18. It was BUSY in Disney Springs today. It was so busy, in fact, that we experienced something we have yet to see: a virtual queue to access a retail store! Lines around World of Disney With wait times for World of Disney topping off at SIX HOURS, it’s clear that Disney fans were ready to shop. Let’s recap what our experience was like today, and what we may be able to expect in the future as the theme parks reopen! Upon arriving at Disney Springs this morning, there was already a wait to get into World of Disney before the store had even opened. Guests would check in with a Cast Member, who will check you into the virtual queue. Checking in to join the virtual queue at World of Disney At one point this morning we were seeing reports of an hour-long wait just to get to the front of the line to JOIN the virtual queue, so definitely plan ahead! Once your turn comes up, a text message is sent to your phone letting you know it’s time to shop! We were told by a Cast Member that you have thirty minutes to check in after receiving the text message. Text to Enter World of Disney This system worked well in our experience as we were able to explore other parts of Disney Springs while we waited for our turn to enter World of Disney. So, if you’re craving a Dole Whip, Mickey Pretzel, or a bucket of popcorn, you can check all of those out while you wait “in line.” Once you are allowed into World of Disney, there is no time limit for you to shop. Inside World of Disney It is unclear at this time if virtual queues will be implemented in the parks’ retail stores. But Disney has shared previously that they are considering using virtual queues for more experiences when the parks reopen. You can read more about that here. As Disney continues to share new processes pertaining to the reopening we will be sure to let you know. And if you have any questions, please let us know! 21. Earlier today, Disney World presented its reopening plan to Florida’s Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force. Magic Kingdom The proposed plan has been initially approved by Mayor Jerry Demings and has been sent to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. If given the go-ahead, select Disney World theme parks will begin to reopen to the public starting on July 11th, with the remaining parks set to open on July 13th. During Disney World’s proposal, we saw a sneak peek of some of the new health and safety signage guests will see once the parks begin to reopen. Disney officials have stated education, communication, and engagement with its guests will be paramount in keeping everyone safe. © Disney Many of these new signs will be located at entry points as well as throughout the theme parks themselves, especially where crowds tend to gather. Most of the new signs offer friendly reminders, instructing guests to always wear their face mask and allow for six feet of space between themselves and other parties. So far, these new signs look very similar to the ones we’ve already seen around Disney Springs and more recently at World of Disney today. Their colors are mostly muted beige, red, and dark green. Protect the Magic Signs at World of Disney In addition to emphasizing the mandatory use of face masks and best social distancing practices, other important health and safety procedures will be addressed such as temperature screenings. All Cast Members and guests will be required to have their temperature taken before entry, similar to what we’ve experienced at Disney Springs. ©Disney Learn more about Disney Springs’ temperature checks here! New signage installed near restrooms and hand sanitization stations will remind guests to wash their hands frequently as well as use touchless features such as Mobile Order when paying for food. At restaurants, new signs will direct guests to which tables they’re allowed to sit at as well as if they’re permitted to move chairs around. In stores, limited handling of product signs will also be installed. ©Disney These are just some of the new health and safety signs that are headed our way when the parks reopen. We’re sure there will be lots more to come, but for now, you can start familiarizing yourself with Disney World’s new health and safety procedures based on all the new signs we’ve seen so far! 22. Since Disney World closed in mid-March, we had wondered how different the parks and experiences would be upon reopening. One of those experiences we had a ton of questions about was the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. 2019 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Based on our trip today to Disney Springs, we have gained some insight on how the festival may be a bit different this fall! We stopped by the Daily Poutine (because we obviously needed cheese and gravy after all these months inside!), and as we went to grab our fork to dig into our delicious boat of french fries, gravy, and cheese curds, we noticed something a bit different about the utensil dispenser! Daily Poutine at Disney Springs The utensil dispensers are set up now so you do not have to come in contact with any surface that another person may have touched. Before, the utensil dispensers commonly had a lever on the side that everyone needed to push to receive a new utensil. Here’s the old style: Old Style Fork Dispenser And the NEW: New sanitary utensil dispenser at Daily Poutine Now, you just pull out your individual utensil and off you go! The ONLY thing you will be touching is the handle of the utensil that YOU will use! After you pull out your fork, another handle pops out! New sanitary utensil dispenser at Daily Poutine The utensils themselves look a little different too and are designed in a way to fit in these new dispensers. Fork from the new utensil dispensers Looking ahead to the Food and Wine Festival, we wouldn’t be surprised if these new dispensers were placed at each one of the outdoor food booths! We can probably expect to see these at counter service locations when the parks reopen, too. Check out some of the other health and safety procedures we’ve witnessed at Disney Springs here! 23. Walt Disney World Resort has proposed a plan to reopen starting in mid-July with Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom on July 11th, followed by EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15th. Walt Disney World’s Epcot Among the many safety measures that will be implemented when the parks reopen will be the required wearing of face coverings by all guests and cast members (which we’ve already experienced in the recently reopened Disney Springs). The wearing of face masks may be new to many. Starbucks at Disney Springs Upon Reopening And of course, anyone who has spent any amount of time in Central Florida — especially in the summer months — is familiar with the hot and humid weather. Perhaps keeping those factors in mind, Disney mentioned the possibility of “Relaxation Zones” during the Question and Answer phase of the meeting. Guests with Face Coverings in Disney Springs Though Disney noted that the wearing of masks has not presented an issue so far in Disney Springs, these potential Zones (located “in and around and off the property”) may allow guests the chance to remove their face coverings for a moment to take a bit of a breather and… well, relax! We imagine there will be more to share about the Relaxation Zones (including potential safety measures within the Zones) as the reopening of the Resort draws near. Cast Member with required face mask The Relaxation Zones are just one of many new items that were discussed today during the proposal of the plans for the reopening of Walt Disney World. To find out more about the details revealed in today’s proposal (which — at press time, has been approved by Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings in advance of being submitted to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his approval) you can click here. 24. Disney World made the historic announcement today that they intend to reopen their theme parks mid-July, after their lengthy closure. It’s Mickey! As part of their announcement, they outlined a number of new health and safety guidelines that will be implemented throughout their parks and resorts upon reopening. These guidelines range from an advance reservation system to a new Social Distancing Squad. Guests can also expect their dining experiences to look a little different. A key component of these reopening guidelines is the increase in contactless experiences for guests. Examples include the increase in Mobile Ordering (meaning you can order food from your phone) and contactless payments such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or the use of Magic Bands. ©Disney For guests at table service restaurants, Disney World will be offering contactless menus via QR codes that guests can access. Disposable paper menus will also be available if a guest prefers a non-digital menu. We have already seen digital menus appear at Disney Springs, like at Wine Bar George. As part of these limited contact experiences, Disney will also be temporarily suspending all character meet and greets, so character dining may look a little different. 25. Earlier, we shared that Chapek had spoken out about why the parks would be opening in July. Bob Chapek Now, Chapek has expanded on his initial statements going into a bit more detail as to why the park is choosing to open over a month after other theme parks like Universal Studios, which is reopening June 5th. With major Florida-base theme parks such as Universal Studios and SeaWorld set to reopen in early June, Disney World has decided not to reopen its parks until July. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will be the first to reopen on July 11th while Epcot and Hollywood Studios will follow on July 15th. Mickey Pretzel! But when asked why Disney is planning on reopening its parks much later when compared to other Orlando-area attractions, Chapek stated the following: Chapek told Bloomberg in an interview, “We feel this is the right time for us, in July. We’ve got a different situation, frankly, than Universal does because we’re much bigger. We have a much more complex business. We’ve got a different labor situation, and at the same time, we’re also going to be implementing a reservation system for our guests. And it’s gonna take some time to take the millions of reservations that we’ve already got on our books and then switch that over to a new reservations system, so we think July is the right time for us.” Monorail at Disney World Disney has released few details about their new reservation system yet, but shared that we should know more soon. In the meantime, Disney World’s new ticket sales and hotel reservations have been put on pause. Universal, on the other hand, will be implementing capacity restrictions without the use of a reservation system. You can read their full reopening plan here.
