There is a lot to keep track of when it comes to the latest info for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders right now. Disney World Annual Passholder Magnet For instance, Annual Passholders who have paid in full are — as of yesterday — just starting to see their passes extended for the number of days that the theme parks remain closed reflected in their My Disney Experience account. And today we’d like to pass on a reminder — along with some handy info — to Walt Disney World Annual Passholders on the Monthly Payment Plan. Now, as a reminder, Passholders who utilize the Annual Pass Monthly Payment Program have had their payments waived during the closure (with regular payments set to resume when the parks reopen). Pass expiration dates will not be extended in this automated process. Magic Kingdom Park Entrance However, Disney provided an alternative option for Passholders on the Monthly Payment Plan, whereby Passholders can postpone their monthly payments through the closure with payments resuming when the parks reopen, opting for their Annual Pass to be extended for the number of days the parks are closed. Entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom This option to extend is NOT automatic. As a reminder, if you wish to see your pass extended on the Monthly Payment Plan you MUST call Disney. And speaking of calling… we have an additional number you can contact. Here’s a tip! While Disney has stated that Passholders who wish to extend their pass may call V.I.PASSHOLDER Support at (407)939-7277, there is a dedicated line for the Monthly Payment Plan participants: (888) 701-4100. Disney’s Hollywood Studios entrance We called the dedicated line today and found that we were not transferred — they were able to help with a Monthly Payment Pass extension directly on this line! It is worth mentioning, though, that we were on hold for a long time (nearly an hour). However, Disney has expressed that heavy call volume from Passholders and guests is anticipated, and states that patience is appreciated. Read more about the options available to Walt Disney World Annual Passholders here. We’ll be keeping you posted on all the latest information for Wat Disney World Annual Passholders — especially as we await further details on the new Theme Park reservation system that will be rolled out to Disney World guests (including Annual Passholders) soon! In the meantime, you can catch up on all the latest news surround the reopening of the Walt Disney World theme parks (which begins on July 11th with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, followed by EPCOT and Hollywood Studios on July 15th) by visiting any of the links below. Since Disney Springs began its phased reopening on May 20th, guests and Cast Members have been required to wear face coverings for the duration of their stay. Disney Springs Sign Third-party shops and restaurants were the first to open, and only a few retailers were selling face masks initially. We thought when Disney-owned locations such as World of Disney officially reopened on May 27th, we might have better luck finding some cute Disney-themed masks like some of the cloth character-themed face masks we’d seen available for pre-order on Disney’s website. But there were no Disney-themed face masks to be found at Disney Springs — until today! Face Masks at Disney Springs Now that the new character-themed face masks have started shipping out to folks who’ve ordered them, it appears Marketplace Co-op has also received a fresh shipment of these Disney-themed face masks! They’re the same ones we’ve previously seen on shopDisney! Disney Cloth Masks ©Disney The face masks cost $6 each when purchased individually or four for $20 when purchased as a set. Note: there is a limit of four face masks per guest, no discounts are applicable and there are no refunds, exchanges, or returns allowed. If you want to purchase some of these Disney-themed face masks at Disney Springs, they’re being sold at the PhotoPass Studio inside the Marketplace Co-Op. Line at Marketplace Co-Op for Face Masks Guests are lined up outside (while social distancing) and given a form to complete. Don’t worry — the line appears long, but the face mask ordering process actually goes very quickly! And if you just want to get into the Marketplace Co-Op they’ll let you through, unless there’s a need for the virtual queue. You can enter to the left of the guests who are in line for face masks. Line for Face Masks You’ll select which sizes and designs you’d like (all masks come in medium and large sizes while only a few styles are available in small.). Order Form The back of the order form shows sizing information and a Cast Member is on hand with examples of small. medium, and large face masks so you can compare. Sizing Info Once it’s your turn, you hand in your form at the Photopass Studio and a Cast Member pulls the face masks you’ve requested from some bins. PhotoPass Studio They’ll put your order in a clear plastic bag. Clear Bag You’re then directed to The Marketplace Co-Op to pay for your order. A Cast Member will tell you which checkout is available. Marketplace Co-Op We were directed to Twenty-Eight & Main to complete our order since it didn’t have a line. Twenty-Eight and Main Once we paid for our face masks, the Cast Member placed them in a standard Disney bag. Plastic Bag In addition to the styles we’ve previously seen offered on shopDisney, there’s also a new Rainbow Mickey Face Mask available in all sizes for $6! Rainbow Mickey Face Mask We’ll be on the lookout for any new Disney-themed face masks, but for now, check out which face masks we think are the most comfortable to wear all day long here! Just days ago, Hong Kong Disneyland announced that its grand reopening would take place on June 18th, making it the second Disney park to reopen in the last five months. ©Hong Kong Disneyland The welcome back celebration took place overnight, while many new health and safety measures have been implemented, so let’s go check it out! Shanghai Disneyland was the first Disney theme park to reopen on May 11th, and has served as a guiding light for Hong Kong Disneyland’s phased reopening. Stephanie Young, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort says the parks are “learning from one another”, and as Disney World and Disneyland prepare to reopen next month, we can have a better idea of what Disney will be doing to create a safe environment for its guests and Cast Members. ©Disney Hong Kong Disneyland is using Disney Parks Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pamela Hymel’s six-pronged scientific approach which includes operating with a reduced capacity, increasing handwashing and making hand sanitizer more available throughout the parks, increased cleaning, temperature checks for all guests and Cast Members as well as requiring cloth face coverings. ©Disney Dr. Hymel says Disney is working on adding more contactless payment options to the parks and just today they’ve launched a new health and safety educational campaign recruiting some of our favorite superheroes to help get the message across! Click here to read more about Dr. Hymel’s phased reopening approach for the Disney parks! ©Disney Click here to see Disney’s new super safety tips brought to you by The Incredibles! For families who are on the fence about returning to the parks, Dr. Hymel said only do what you’re comfortable with and know that Disney is taking the situation very seriously. They can’t wait to welcome guests back when they’re ready. At this time, Disney World is expected to be the next resort to reopen with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11th followed by Epcot and Hollywood Studios on July 15th. You’ve heard it before, and you’ll hear it again, we are going through unprecedented times. Fare thee well And with that comes changes to regularly scheduled programming, including the Disney Parks Moms Panel. For those who are unfamiliar, the Disney Parks Moms Panel began in 2008 and is a group of Disney World experts who have been chosen by Disney (from thousands of entrants!) to answer guest questions via a forum-style website. They share real experiences as well as heartfelt advice to help families create memories on their Disney Vacations that will last a lifetime. Disney Parks Moms Panel Logo According to their update, “Since 2020 is unlike any year we’ve ever experienced, we are extending some of our current panelists for another year to provide stability to the program in an unstable time. As a result, we will not be seeking new panelists this fall. We know this will be disappointing if you were planning to submit an application this year, but we are looking forward to receiving your application in the future.” 2020 Disney Parks Moms Panel While this is certainly disappointing for the thousands of applicants who apply each year and look forward to having a chance to apply to join the panel each fall, the current Disney Parks Moms Panelists will remain available to answer questions about your next Disney Vacation. Shanghai Disneyland was the first Disney theme park to reopen on May 11th with several modifications. Al’s Toy Barn in Shanghai Disneyland But now that the park has been open for over a month, more attractions and guest experiences have started back up. But those aren’t even the biggest changes. Shanghai Disneyland also recently debuted the Disney Standby Pass (a virtual queue-type system). This is a free service on Shanghai Disneyland’s app that allows guests to select a specific time frame to ride an attraction in order to “help guests better plan their queuing schedule for a more relaxed park experience.” TRON When Shanghai Disneyland launched Disney Standby Pass, only one attraction listed during the Trial Operation Period: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Fantasyland. Today, we noticed several new attractions have been added. Screenshot From Shanghai Disneyland’s Website Shanghai Disneyland’s website still states, “the corresponding attractions are only open to guests who hold either a Disney Standby Pass or Disney Premier Access for the corresponding time period.” Note: Disney Standby Pass is still in its Trial Operating Period and will be open for further refinement. Roaring Rapids The new Disney Standby Pass is now being offered in addition to Disney Premier Access (which is available for purchase) and Disney Fastpass, and the site notes that: “Guests may purchase Disney Premier Access for any attraction while also holding a Disney Standby Pass or Disney Fastpass.” Disney Standby Passes will continue to be released in the app on an hourly basis, based on that day’s official park operating hours. Each Disney Standby Pass corresponds to a 60-minute interval of time and the quota distributed for each day will be limited. Today, Hong Kong Disneyland has reopened to guests, following the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland in May. And Disney is currently preparing for the upcoming reopening of Walt Disney World and the proposed reopening of Disneyland Resort. The Incredibles ©Disney While Disney shares how they have reimagined the Disney parks experience “with the well-being of our guests and cast members in mind,” they’ve enlisted the help of a few INCREDIBLE friends to spread the word to guests about new safety measures that will be implemented in the parks. Guests in the process of planning a Disney vacation will be receiving some safety advice from the Incredibles and their friends, including Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, their kids, and more! These characters will “show us how to use our powers to help everyone be well,” and Disney has provided some examples of how they’ll do exactly that! Frozone will remind everyone to “Be Cool” (with required temperature checks). The Incredibles Super Safety Tips ©Disney Mrs. Incredible will show you how to practice physical distancing. The Incredibles Super Safety Tips ©Disney Dash himself will remind you to DASH off to wash your hands often! The Incredibles Super Safety Tips ©Disney And fashionista Edna Mode will encourage you to “Cover Up Dahling,” by wearing a face mask. The Incredibles Super Safety Tips ©Disney This isn’t the last we’ll see of our Incredible pals… Disney will be sharing more Super tips over the next several weeks, with the reminder that “Together We Can Make Today Incredible.” Lastly, Disney shares: “Just like the Incredibles, we each have a role to play as we watch out for one another and do our part. Disney World dining reservations opened up today for guests who have hotel reservations between June 22 and July 10, 2020. Only a few restaurants will be open — all located at the Disney Vacation Club resorts that are opening on June 22nd — but that hasn’t stopped the classic booking day Disney phone line jam! Topolino’s Terrace We’ve gotten through on the phone lines, though, and we’ve got details! Let’s dive in and see how many of your questions we can answer! You May Be On Hold For a While Currently, guests are only able to book by phone, so technologically we’re returning to the days of yore…before anyone could book their dining reservations online via My Disney Experience. Which means we’re in for hours on hold. The Wave You’d think that with such a relatively small sample space — ONLY guests who have hotel reservations between June 22 and July 10th are allowed to book right now, and they can’t book anything past July 10th — that the phone lines wouldn’t be as overwhelmed as they are with a big new restaurant opening. But that doesn’t seem to be the case this morning. Our four team members here at DFB were on hold for 45 minutes to an hour — one of us was given a more than 2-hour estimated wait time. And we called at 7AM on the dot! Tonga Toast for Sunday Brunch? Yes, please! So here are a few tips for you if you’re still on hold: An hours-long wait time is not uncommon: It’s true. We’ve been through this over and over again. So take the dog for a walk, jump on your exercise bike, feed the baby, write that blog post ;-). Believe me, you have time. Just keep your phone with you and try not to hang up while you’re getting other things done. Cast Members might not have all the information they need: Again, all too often this is the truth. And right now it might be even more the case. Things are changing SO quickly at Disney World right now that it’s hard for anyone to have all the details and updates in line. So go easy on your Cast Member if they don’t have all of the details and information they need to make your booking. You’ll get through it together. When you do get through, get confirmation numbers for ALL dining reservations. Your My Disney Experience account might not update immediately, so make sure you have confirmation numbers so nothing goes awry. Other Dining Reservation Details You Should Know Eventually, after almost an hour of waiting, one member of our team did get through to talk to a Cast Member, and that means we got some questions answered and some reservations MADE. According to the cast members we spoke to, guests can ONLY book reservations during the length of their stay — so you can’t book ANY dining beyond your hotel reservation. But you CAN book at other hotels besides your own. Grand Floridian Cafe Dining Room Disney is not booking any dining past July 10th at this time (yes, we tried to get some theme park dining reservations for July 11th — no dice). Those later reservation dates — and theme park restaurant booking — will likely come with the updated online booking process for dining reservations. The cancellation policy is the same as it’s always been! You gotta cancel within 24 hours before your reservation time — if you don’t, you’ll be charged the standard fee of $10 per person. As a reminder, character meals are currently not available (except for a modified experience for breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace) and hours are subject to change. Bread Service at Sanaa! We’ll be updating you with more information on the new resort guest-only booking process so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates. Disney World can get BUSY, you guys (two hours for Peter Pan’s Flight is sometimes a norm in the summer). And while each family has a method to the madness on what they’d like to do their vacation, a lot of people don’t realize exactly how important it is to visit the parks in the morning. Walt Disney World Even though being an early riser many not be your forté, we’re telling you that these things in Disney World are worth waking up for! Rope Drop When you’re feeling adventurous (like the kind of bravery where you’re SET on conquering all of the rides in a park), you’re going to want to make sure you’re up and at ’em early! Since many of the crowds will start to pick up as the day goes on in Disney World, rope dropping a park is a helpful way to take advantage of fewer wait times in the morning. Rope dropping means that you arrive ready to go right when the park opens, and it’s literally named after the practice of cast members dropping a rope that has been held up to keep guests from entering the land before it opens. Rope Drop If you’re looking to get a lot done in one day, those first few hours in the morning are practically essential to get on multiple rides before people start flocking to them from mid-morning through the afternoon. When you make sure you’re at the parks early for rope drop, it gives you the chance to be one of the first few people on attractions (Flight of Passage will have a shorter wait time first thing in the morning opposed to 2 PM). Pandora Rope dropping also gives guests have the opportunity to tackle significantly more rides than they would be able to after the parks have been open for a few hours. Magic Kingdom You could even knock out all of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland by noon if you get through the rides you want to do quickly. Just make sure to grab some coffee before you head to the parks because that extra caffeine is pretty necessary to start your day off ride-hopping! ;D Don’t know how to Rope Drop? Check out our full guide on how you can do it like a pro! Trolley Show If you’re not going to Magic Kingdom first thing in the morning, you’re SLEEPING on the Main Street Trolley Show! Each morning at 8:20AM, 9:15AM, 10:10AM, and noon daily, the Citizens of Main Street band together to welcome guests into the parks. So, if you’re not in the parks before the afternoon, you’re definitely not going to catch the show. Good Morning!!! The performance is populated with colorful outfits and some of that ragtime pizazz that Walt’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri, so lovingly inspired! The Citizens of Main Street dance to a song about all of Magic Kingdom and how wonderful Main Street, U.S.A. is. Plus, you might recognize the mix of the classic Hello, Dolly! music that Disney uses throughout its parks and in WALL-E. Trolley Show Since the Festival of Fantasy parade doesn’t start until the afternoon, the Trolley Show is a great way to kick off your morning. Main Street, USA While you might need a break from riding all the attractions or your kiddos want to sit down to have some ice cream for a moment, the Citizens of Main Street can entertain guests of all ages with their high energy and cheer! You’ve never done these four things in Disney World, but you need to! Main Street Vehicles We are sure that everyone has at least once been VERY excited to see the horses out in Magic Kingdom (they’re just so sweet). But, did you know that you can actually ride ALL the Main Street vehicles when you’re visiting? Trolley Magic Kingdom is home to a horse-drawn carriage, trolley, jitney, omnibus, and a fire engine that will take guests on a one-way ride down Main Street. While you’re riding, it kind of feels like you’re part of a Disney parade since you can wave at all the guests passing by (is this what being famous is like??). More Dapper Dans The Main Street vehicles stop during the Trolley Show and other entertainment throughout the day, and they usually end their runs sometime in the early afternoon. So, if you really want to say you had the magical experience of riding a horse-drawn carriage in Disney World, you’ll want to visit in the morning! Main Street, U.S.A. Horse-Drawn Trolley On top of the awesome photo-op you can take of your family and friends, you can also stop by to listen to the Dapper Dans who perform close to the trolley station. Dapper Dans And, if those harmonies don’t make you feel like you’re in the Most Magical Place on Earth, we don’t know what else will! Watch the Dapper Dans perform for you at home while you’re away from the Disney Parks! First Pitch at Casey’s Corner Oh, Casey’s — how we miss your wonderful corn dog nuggets and plastic cheese. While Casey’s Corner is a Disney World staple already, the quick-service location also hosts a “First Pitch” many mornings to open up the restaurant. Casey’s will let the first two children in line throw a first pitch to a Cast Member to ring in the day! Corn Dog Nuggets After they throw the baseballs, the kids will receive a free brownie (the equivalent of a Home Run, honestly) as Cast Members sing a rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” Although Disney is full of surprises for your family to enjoy, the First Pitch is a unique experience for your little one to have when they’re visiting. Casey’s Corner First Pitch Besides, they’ll be super excited that they got a free brownie out of it (and that means you can have a little bit of it too ;D)! We bet you didn’t know you could do these cool things in Disney World! Welcome Show As Magic Kingdom welcomes guests to the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy, you can start your morning off in the most Disney way possible with the “Let the Magic Begin” show! Many of your favorite characters like Mickey, the Disney Princesses, and more will gather on stage to officially open all the lands for the guests to visit. Magic Kingdom The Fairy Godmother even helps to bring some morning magic to the Kingdom by creating a small number of fireworks at the end of the show. Since fireworks are usually shown in the evening during Happily Ever After, it’s a special occasion to be able to see them during the daytime! Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Although your kids will love being able to wave to all their favorite characters, it’s also a reminder to everyone of what Disney does best — entertainment. Should you reschedule your Disney trip for 2021? Here’s what we think! Boarding Passes!!! Do we really even need to go into this one anymore at this point?? Hollywood Studios Rope Drop is essential if you’re going to be one of the guests scrambling to get a Boarding Pass for the newest Disney blockbuster ride, Rise of the Resistance, in the morning. Since the attraction assigns boarding groups on a first-come/ first-serve basis, being there early is the key to making sure you ride the gem of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Rise of the Resistance There are only a certain amount of boarding groups per day, so you may not receive a pass if you wait until later in the day to go. Instead of sleeping in (even though it sounds GREAT), you don’t want to miss the opportunity of getting a Boarding Pass for earlier in the day to get on the ride more quickly. Boarding Group Status And, since the early bird gets the (space alien) worm, you can also ride other rides around the park and come back when your boarding group is called. If you play your cards right, you might even be able to ride Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash back-to-back! Rise of the Resistance This is EVERYTHING you need to know about getting a Boarding Pass for Rise of the Resistance! We get that feeling of wanting to chill out in bed after spending some seriously long days in the parks. But, make sure to plan accordingly if you want to do some of these activities in the parks (go back to your hotel early the day before, make sure you’re well-rested, etc.). You’ll thank us later after you’ve gotten up early to explore Disney World! Take a look at the 6 good things that might come out of the Disney World closures! Right now, we’re busy preparing for the planned reopenings of Disneyland Resort, subject to appropriate government approvals, Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort and, soon, Tokyo Disney Resort. We are also happy to have already opened Shanghai Disney Resort and, today, we welcomed guests again to Hong Kong Disneyland! We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to the magic, because together we can make your next Disney day incredible. As we take our first steps in the phased reopenings of our Resorts, we’ve reimagined Disney experiences with the well-being of our guests and cast members in mind – and some of our favorite characters will be joining us along the way! When you plan your next vacation to Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort (and eventually, Disneyland Paris), you’ll soon be receiving some good advice from the Incredibles and their friends that will help make your trip Super. Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, their incredible kids and some other familiar faces will show us how to use our powers to help everyone be well. For example: Learn how to keep your cool like Frozone. Practice physical distancing with Mrs. Incredible. Let Dash, the fastest kid around, show you the importance of dashing off to wash your hands frequently. Suit up with Edna Mode – face coverings aren’t just smart, they’re stylish, too, dahling! Keep your eyes open for these Super tips and more in the weeks to come as we all get ready for the reopening of more Disney theme parks, following the successful reopening of Shanghai Disneyland last month and Hong Kong Disneyland today. Just like the Incredibles, we each have a role to play as we watch out for one another and do our part. Because together we are magic … and we all need a little more magic in our lives, don’t you think? Disney parks are some of the happiest places on earth – allowing family and friends to come together and immerse themselves in unforgettable experiences while discovering wonder and joy around every turn. Today, we marked the return of that wonder and joy at Hong Kong Disneyland as we reopened our gates to once again welcome guests and fans. Creating magic today means even more to us than ever before. This was especially apparent as thousands of talented and dedicated Hong Kong cast members came together to take great care in preparing the park for the return of our guests. As we reopened our park today, we reflected on the strength and resilience of our community, the perseverance of our cast members, the support from our guests and the unwavering commitment of our medical responders. To each of these groups – we thank you for your significant contributions that helped lead us to this special moment. We were happy to welcome more than a hundred families from our neighborhood – Lantau Island to be among our first guests at our reopening today. Hong Kong Disneyland will continue working with different non-profit organizations to invite families to visit us, inspiring them with the magic of Disney’s positivity and optimism. Today serves as an important step forward for Hong Kong Disneyland. We are excited not only about upcoming milestones for our park, but also for the rest of our Disney parks around the world. During the past few months, it was inspiring to witness our cast members and fans continue to believe in the magic of Hong Kong Disneyland by allowing it to live on in their homes, hearts and imaginations. Now that we have begun our reopening, please continue to imagine all that is possible because there are so many new memories to be made. This is only the beginning. We’re incredibly proud of our beautiful Castle of Magical Dreams as it enters its final stage of construction and magical transformation. The Castle will launch later this year and represents a shining beacon of courage, hope and possibility. I hope you find joy in these photos from day one of our reopening at Hong Kong Disneyland and I look forward to the opening of our other parks around the world! View the full article

Homecomin’ has reopened in Disney Springs today, and they’re serving up heaping helpings of comfort foods with a side of Southern hospitality — along with some signature moonshine cocktails to wash it all down with. Homecomin’! And while we knew Chef Art Smith would be at the reopening of his restaurant today (and to check up on the progress of his new Shine Bar + Social outdoor patio bar!), we got the chance to sit and visit with him! Before Chef Art Smith welcomed everyone home to his restaurant, he sat down with us at his favorite table on the newly enclosed patio for an exclusive interview. Btw, he was rockin’ a super-cute Chicken Print Face Mask that Homecomin’ is now selling! Chef Art! Even though Homecomin’ looks a little different these days (with their new Shine Bar seating and safety measures they’ve implemented), the always warm and inviting Chef Art Smith has undergone a major transformation himself. He said he’s really used this time to focus on getting healthy, and believe it or not, he’s lost over 80 pounds! Check out more of the new merch at Homecomin’ here! Chef Art (who’s turning 60 this year) said even though the gyms have been closed, Lucas Cancelier, a close friend who’s a personal trainer has helped him get into shape at home during the shutdown. Lucas was also at the restaurant today and stopped by to pose for a quick pic! Chef Art Smith and Lucas Cancelier at Homecomin’ Today As for his restaurant’s new project, Shine Bar + Social, Art told us the outdoor space has been in the works for over a year. Basically, once they realized they would be enclosing their former outdoor seating area, they knew they would need to come up with a replacement so folks could sit outside and listen to music while sippin’ on moonshine! Find out how to make healthy comfort classics with Art here! Shine Bar He told us construction started on Shine Bar + Social about two months ago and he’s really pleased with its progress. When it opens, guests will be able to order off the Homecomin’ menu and there might even be a few new moonshine cocktails! Read our dinner review of Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ here! Moonshine Mash — Up Close Once we got to talking about how much we LOVE Homecomin’s drinks, Art spilled a few family secrets about his ancestors! He told us that his Shine Bar is an homage to his great grandfather who was a moonshiner! Art chuckled when he told us his great-grandpa “drank more than he sold” and held up his phone to show us this sepia tone photo of the moonshine slinger himself! Read more about Homecomin’s moonshine cocktails on tap here! Chef Art Showing Us a Photo of His Great Grandfather In addition to running moonshine, baking also runs in Art’s family. Art’s great grandmother was known for making a special 12 layer chocolate cake sometimes called Smith Island Cake. It’s a popular item at church suppers in the South and Art would love to bring it to Homecomin’s menu someday! Click here to read our review of Homecomin’s newest menu items! Due to his recent weight loss, Art also talked about bringing a few healthier options to the menu, although he assures us they’ll still be VERY comforting! If they taste even half as good as his Grilled Chicken Tenders, we’ll be stoked to give them a try! Grilled Chicken Tenders When we asked Art what his favorite item on Homecomin’s menu was, he told us Fried Catfish and Slaw are his go-to items! In fact, the original concept for the restaurant was called Fish Camp! Check out our review of Homecomin’s Grilled Chicken Tenders here! Homecomin Sign He told us Disney Springs already had a lot of fish joints by the time he was working on coming to Disney World, and the name and concept for his restaurant eventually evolved into Homecomin’ to represent his return to his home state of Florida! Hot Legs Art also told us he’s been really impressed by how Disney has been handling all these recent changes and said everything at Disney Springs is being done very responsibly and professionally. Homecomin’ is also following all health and safety guidelines and have taken every precaution to ensure folks can enjoy a good dose of southern comfort food again. They’ve spaced out tables, installed plexiglass shields between booths, and increased their sanitation practices to name just a few new practices they’ve implemented since reopening. Click here to read our review of Homecomin’s Hot Legs — one of their signature items! Shine Bar Sign While talking about our current situation, Art said, “When things are tough, things are rough, people want comfort” following with, “Everyone has gone through something that frightened them”. He’s thankful to have his restaurant open again so he can cook for people and “serve Mac and cheese until the cows come home!” We find this to be very reassuring since his mac and cheese is some of the best we’ve ever had! Mac and Cheese Reservations for Homecomin’ blew out the door as soon as the restaurant announced it was reopening today and Art says they’ve been able to bring back about 90% of the staff! If you can’t make it down to Disney World right away to enjoy some of Chef Art Smith’s Southern comfort food, you can always tune in to his cooking show which he’s filming in his kitchen at home! It’s a project he’s become deeply passionate about since it’s a way he can connect with his fans all over the world right now! Check it out at @thechefartsmith on Instagram Live!
