  1. Before select Disney World resorts began their phased reopenings today, several new health and safety procedures were announced. Disney’s Riviera Resort And yesterday, guests who would be arriving at Disney World’s newly reopened resorts were sent a “must-read” e-mail which included a Health Acknowledgement. When we arrived at Disney’s Riviera Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort today, we were surprised when we entered without having our temperatures taken. We noticed many health and safety reminders were posted near the entrances, but there was no mention of guests being required to undergo a mandatory temperature screening nor did we see a health screening area where temperature checks would be conducted. Health and Safety Signage Posted at Disney’s Riviera Resort’s Entrance Disney has stated face masks must be worn at all times at Disney World’s theme parks and hotel common areas, and temperature checks will be mandatory for entering parks. We thought Disney World might be temperature screening its hotel guests as well. However, this doesn’t appear to be the case as of now. Health and Safety Measures Sign at Disney’s Riviera Resort After talking with a Cast Member at two different resorts, we were told that they will not be conducting temperature screenings at hotels at this time. It’s possible temperature screenings may be required at a later date, especially once the theme parks begin to reopen on July 11th and July 15th, but as of now, guests will not have their temperature taken at the hotels. Temperature Screening at Disney Springs We’ll continue to provide updates as more information becomes available! You MUST have a dining reservation to visit a different Disney World resort than the hotel you’re staying at. Learn more details here. What do you think about Disney’s decision not to conduct temperature screenings at its resorts? Let us know in the comments below! 3. Disney World’s theme parks will begin reopening June 11th. Magic Kingdom Among other health measures, the reopening plan includes the use of a new guest reservations system for use in the theme parks. Disney shared a number of details about the Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system last week, and now the reservation system has officially rolled out online. The Disney World website features some significant changes today when it comes to the way that guests plan their Disney trip. Next time you head to Disney, you’ll be visiting the Disney Park Pass page to make your theme park reservations. When we first logged in this morning, it appeared that the Disney website was experiencing some MAJOR technical difficulties — potentially due to high demand. Disney Park Pass Error Message When we did FINALLY get the new page to load, we could see the information but the calendar function to select a reservation date was still unavailable. Disney Park Pass Screenshot Now, though, the system is LIVE! But do note, quite a bit of readers are still having a hard time accessing the new system. You will likely be greeted with a countdown Millennium Falcon loading screen, so be prepared to potentially wait for a while. Reservations are made for a specific date, time, and park. You are limited to one park reservation per day, so it seems that the Park hopper service will not be in use at this time. You can see on the availability calendar that it shows “All Parks Available,” “Some Parks Available,” or “No Parks Available” for each date. Disney Park Pass System Screenshot Once we made it on to the Disney Park Pass page, it was time to start making our reservations! Disney Park Pass Screenshot First, you’ll select your party from your list of Family & Friends. Make sure to make profiles for other members of your family before making a reservation! If someone in your party does NOT have a profile, you can add them as a guest. Disney Park Pass Screenshot Once you’ve got your party set up, you’ll be able to see a calendar for you to select your singular date. Disney Park Pass Screenshot Then, it’s on to the park selection page! As a note, if a park is unavailable for the day you are making your reservation, it will be greyed out on this screen. Disney Park Pass Screenshot What better park to start our days back in Disney than Magic Kingdom? The next screen had us selecting a window of time. The window was NOT limited though; at this time there was only one option and it was for the full park hours. Disney Park Pass Screenshot Then, you’re pretty much done. All you have to do is review your choices and confirm. As announced, confirmation requires agreement to the terms and conditions, including Disney’s COVID-19 liability waiver. Disney Park Pass Screenshot Once you confirm, you’re done! Disney Park Pass Screenshot From there, you’ll see a screen that explains how to use your reservation when you arrive at the parks. Make sure to bring your MagicBand or card that’s linked to your My Disney Experience account. Once you feel comfortable with the info, you can either “Make Another Park Pass” or exit to “View My Plans.” Disney Park Pass Screenshot As a reminder, there is a limit on reservations for Annual Passholders without a resort reservation. Existing reservations can be canceled through this page as long as cancellations are made before the end of the day prior to the day of your reservation. Keep in mind that if you don’t show up for three reservations in 90 days, you’ll be unable to make reservations for 30 days after that. Though the new system is relatively easy to navigate, it still might bring up some questions. If anything is confusing you, feel free to ask us and we’ll help if we can! If you find that you need direct help from Disney with your reservation, you can call Disney Website Support at (407) 939-4357. Keep in mind though, the lines may be busy so you might get stuck on hold for a while. Spaceship Earth Remember that at this time, “To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required.” Annual Passholders without an already-booked Resort Hotel stay can make reservations beginning June 26th. Existing ticket holders can make reservations beginning June 28th. It certainly will be interesting to see how the use of this new system plays out and if it goes off without a hitch once the parks reopen. Keep an eye on DFB for all the updates about the new reservations! Get ALL the details on this new reservation system here. Do you think the new reservation system is confusing or easy to understand? 4. One of the ways Disney World will be encouraging guests to reduce contact upon reopening is by utilizing the Mobile Order service at eligible quick-service restaurants. Captain Cooks on Mobile Order But for table service restaurants, Disney World has added a new feature to its My Disney Experience app called Mobile Dine Check-In so that once you arrive for your dining reservation, you can bypass the host stand. Let’s see it in action! Several restaurants will offer Mobile Dine Check-In (click here to see the full list), and we got to use it for the first time this morning at Disney’s Riviera Resort’s Topolino’s Terrace! Topolino’s Terrace Before entering the restaurant, we noticed a Mobile Dine Check-In sign with a large QR code to scan. Mobile Dine Check-In Sign Once we scanned the sign with our devices, it automatically launched the My Disney Experience app and pulled up Mobile Dine Check-In. We scanned the QR code using the normal camera feature on our smartphones. Screenshot From My Disney Experience App We confirmed our reservation time and number of guests and tapped the blue “Start Check-In” button to tell the restaurant we had arrived. Screenshot From My Disney Experience App The next screen asks you to confirm your party mix. Confirm Party The next screen asked if we had any special accessibility requirements. Accessibility Needs We could select if anyone in our group was celebrating something. Celebrations And finally we confirmed we’d completed all the steps to check-in and were prompted to provide a phone number to receive additional information by text. Confirmation We received a text that we had been checked in and would receive an additional text when our table was ready. While we didn’t have hardly any wait, we were free to walk around until our table was ready. Topolino’s Mobile Dine Check-In Text And after that, we met by a Cast Member who seated us right away at our table. Cast Members at Topolino’s All in all, we really enjoyed the new Mobile Dine Check-In feature because it saved us the time and hassle of waiting in line! We hope this new feature sticks around because it’s quite handy as well as contactless! Click here to read about changes coming to the Disney World dining experience this summer. Disneyland Paris While Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland have reopened to guests, Walt Disney World theme parks will be welcoming guests again on July 11th and July 15th (and Disneyland Resort has a proposed reopening date as well). Although Tokyo Disneyland has yet to announce its re-opening timeline, Disneyland Paris will be opening back up to guests soon! Disney has announced that Disneyland Paris will be re-opening its parks on July 15th… which is the same day that EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will reopen in Walt Disney World! 8. At Disneyland Paris, we have been celebrating our Disney Parks family from around the world. From our colleagues at Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland who have reopened their gates, to Walt Disney World and Disneyland who announced their plans to reopen next month – we are inspired by their resilience and proud of what they’ve accomplished to once again welcome guests back to experience the magic of our resorts. As President of Disneyland Paris, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside our team of dedicated cast members who have demonstrated tremendous commitment to preserving the magic for our guests and fans during our unprecedented closure. The last several months have tested us and our community – both personally and professionally – but together we have persevered with optimism and determination. We are grateful for the resilience of our cast members and local community, the enthusiasm of our guests and fans, and the positive momentum of the many reopenings in the tourism industry throughout Europe. We’ve been so touched by our guests around the world who’ve found creative ways to maintain their connection to Disneyland Paris from home. Now, as our community begins to recover, I’m thrilled to share that our iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle will once again welcome guests to its towering spires and sprawling vistas when the resort begins its phased reopening on July 15. Since its temporary closure in March of this year, guests of all ages have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of our premiere European destination. Come July 15, Disneyland Paris will begin a phased reopening with visitors able to return to Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney’s Newport Bay Club hotel, and Disney Village. We look forward to the return of our cast members and reopening our gates so that our guests may once again enjoy our resort. As we approach this day, we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our cast members and guests. In line with French government and health authorities’ recommendations, the phased reopening of Disneyland Paris will present a deliberate approach with enhanced health and safety measures tailored to our specific environment. This will include limits on attendance and require advanced ticketing and reservations to accommodate controlled guest density that aligns with government guidance on physical distancing. We’ve been looking forward to the day we are all able to return to Disneyland Paris, and upon reopening, guests will be able to experience the guest service we are known for, our iconic attractions and entertainment, heart-warming new character moments, and even a few surprises along the way. As we are taking a phased approach, some experiences will change and others will return at a later date, but the magic that our cast is world renowned for will remain. We know it will take all of us working together, both cast members and guests, in this shared responsibility to promote a healthy and safe environment. More information on the enhanced health and safety measures are available on www.disneylandparis.com. Over the next few weeks, our teams will be taking steps to prepare Disneyland Paris for a successful reopening, from visible changes to accommodate physical distancing, to new training for all of our cast members. We know that reopening is just the beginning, and we will continually adjust our plans as appropriate in this evolving situation with input from safety and health authorities. As we reflect on the last several months, the magic of being able to enjoy a Disney experience means so much more. I’m very much looking forward to the day when our guests and cast members can celebrate being together again. Until then, stay safe, keep dreaming, and see you soon at Disneyland Paris! After all, there is no magic without YOU! View the full article
