  7. And the menu cuts keep on coming! Early today, we told you about a bunch of Disney World theme park restaurants that have just reduced their breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings. Pork Hash at Raglan Road And even though Raglan Road has been reopened for a little while and started serving its famous brunch again, it looks like they’ve officially settled on a much smaller menu! We recently dined at Raglan Road and noticed their menu had been majorly scaled back. Raglan Road Paper Menu Now it appears their restaurant’s website reflects the limited offerings. They’ve just erased several brunch, lunch, and dinner items from their online menu as well. The Irish Farmhouse Board of Loveliness Heritage Tomato Salad Kiss Before Shrimp Dalkey Duo Dalkey Salmon Swoon Cider Salmon One Fine Flounder Pan-seared Foleys (North Atlantic Flounder) NOT Corned Beef and Cabbage But Bacon and Cabbage Lambo Braised (Lamb Shank) Little Big Burger Garlic and Parmesan Chips Apple Crumble Raglan Delight You Can Still Get Raglan Risotto For Dinner, Though! And it looks like Raglan Road has also recently slashed a few of its cocktails, too! Here are some beverages that didn’t make the cut! Specialty Libations Iced Irish Paddy’s Irish Whiskey Rosemary and Maple Whiskey Sour The Pride of the Peninsula PJ’s Poison Gunpowder Spiced Caramel Apple Martini Blueberry Mint Lemonade Margarita Strawberry & Cucumber Mojito Samhain Sangria The Pride of the Peninsula is Gone! 9. Is this possible?? Wine Bar George at Disney Springs just released a new whiskey cocktail that’s perfect for whiskey lovers AND casual whiskey drinkers! Wine Bar George Wine Bar George’s outdoor venue, The Basket, has been making the news with their famous Corkcicles that come filled with your favorite frozen drink to-go. But for those of us who want to take it slow, the restaurant inside Wine Bar George is mixing up something a little more sophisticated! The new Hooten Young American Whiskey has been aged 12 years and was discovered by Master Sommelier George Miliotes himself! Wine Bar George then took it to it to a new level and created The Hoot Cocktail. This classy drink mixes Hooten Whiskey with Ginger Beer and Creme De Cassis. The Hoot Cocktail The combination of the three ingredients makes this drink go down smooth with a sweet edge. Don’t want a cocktail? You can also order Hooten whiskey straight up, neat, or however else you like it! The whiskey is nice and smooth so it’s safe enough for people who normally don’t drink whiskey. That said, if you’re an avid whiskey taster, you’ll pick up on the warm and subtle notes that make this whiskey taste DIVINE. Hoot Cocktail The price is $15, which is pretty standard for any Disney Springs cocktail. BUT, this drink is made with good whiskey so you’re getting a better deal than your run-of-the-mill bar drink. We can’t gush enough about how good this whiskey is! And that perfect pairing with the Ginger Beer and Creme De Cassis? It’s seriously perfect for a muggy and swamp-like Florida day. After a day of shopping at Disney Springs, The Hoot Cocktail will go down nicely. (Especially if you pair it with their INCREDIBLE Saganaki on Fire!) Ready for a night out at Disney Springs? Check out all the restaurants you can hit up since the re-opening! Does this cocktail look absolutely perfect? Let us know if you can’t wait to try Wine Bar George’s newest mixed drink! 10. The new Disney Park Pass System — which is an online tool that allows guests to make a required reservation to visit one of the four Walt Disney World theme parks when they start to reopen in July — made its debut earlier this week. Entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Currently, the system has rolled out to guests with Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservations (who also have valid theme park admission) before it opens to Walt Disney World Annual Passholders on June 26th and existing ticket holders on June 28th. While it may be exciting to get that official confirmation when your park plans are finalized (you can see the full process here), what happens if you need to alter your theme park reservation due to a change of plans or preference? Disney Park Pass Screenshot We learned today, both by attempting for ourselves and by confirming with a Cast Member, that there is no option to “modify” your current Park Pass reservations at press time. In order to select a new park or date, you must actively cancel your current reservation (listed under “My Plans” in your My Disney Experience account) and then proceed to book a new Park Pass reservation. Disney’s Hollywood Studios entrance Remember, though, that park reservations are “limited and subject to availability.” The options that were available when you first made your reservation may not be on the table when you opt to cancel. So, you’ll definitely want to check availability for the park and date you want to go to before you cancel any current Park Pass reservations. If you have any more questions about the new Disney Park Pass System… Click here to see our Disney World Park Pass Reservation System FAQ! And you can read all about our experience using the new system by clicking here. 12. It’s already been an exciting week for Disneyland Paris with Monday’s announcement the resort will begin a phased reopening July 15. In honor of this momentous occasion, we invite you to take a virtual ride aboard one of the resort’s most thrilling attractions: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril! Just hearing that iconic music makes me want to rush deep into the heart of Adventureland at Disneyland Park and discover what awaits me on this whip-cracking attraction. After wandering through an abandoned base camp, the temple looms over you – seemingly beckoning you to venture farther. But where has everyone gone? As you journey through dense undergrowth and past stone snake sculptures (you’re not afraid of snakes, are you?), you eventually come upon a train of mine carts headed for the excavation site. It’s at this point our virtual “Ride & Learn” begins, with mystery and uncertainty awaiting you around every twist, turn and, yes, even an inversion (did you know this was the first Disney attraction to feature such a thing?). So hold onto your fedoras and catch as many fun facts as you can! 14. Stride into something comfy and cool! Your feet are going to love the distinctive styles from California Sole, the new footwear store coming later this summer to the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort! Formerly known as Sanuk, this one-of-a-kind store is fresh, modern and features some of California’s most iconic shoe and sandal brands. We had a chance to chat with the owner, Wayne Heck, who walked us through the concept behind California Sole: What is California Sole and what will guests enjoy? California Sole is a California-inspired, full-service footwear store. Most of the brands we carry were born here in beautiful, sunny California and each one has an amazing story to tell. Our staff is very knowledgeable and can share with guests the stories, passion and heart—or “sole”—behind each line of footwear while providing personalized service. What lines will California Sole carry? At California Sole, we look for iconic craftsmanship and timeless style that inspires wearers to get out and get active. All the brands we carry are easy on the eyes and easy on the feet! We will be featuring Vans, Sanuk, OluKai, Reef and Havaianas, along with Stance socks, Pura Vida bracelets and other accessories. We look forward to providing our guests with plenty of options in comfort, style and price points! Tell us about the store’s new look! The minute guests step through our doors, we want them to feel the carefree, California lifestyle. Much like our logo is as bright as a California sunset, our new store will be light, bright and modern with iconic California artwork. In addition, our doors will stay open to appreciate the perfect weather. As we’ve previously announced, Downtown Disney District will begin reopening on July 9 in line with the state’s reopening guidelines, with its unique variety of shopping and dining experiences (California Sole will not be open on July 9, but will open soon after that date). With the health of guests and Disney cast members at the forefront of planning, several operational changes will be implemented based on guidance from health authorities to promote physical distancing and cleanliness throughout the Downtown Disney District. 16. If you’re like us, you’re looking forward to some of the rollercoasters that are coming to Disney World. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Concept Art ©Disney Between Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle Run, we almost have more excitement than we can handle! Now, a Disney patent we recently spotted might give us some insight into Disney’s newest roller coaster attractions. Check out this entirely new coaster ride system! Disney just published a patent for an “Eddy current vehicle drive” which is a whole new way of moving a ride vehicle — particularly, a roller coaster vehicle — up a lift hill. Traditionally, roller coasters are transported up lift hills through the use of a chain which can cause perceptible faults in smoothness if the coaster misses chain link and falls on to the next one. ©Disney While this may not be an issue on rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, some roller coasters need to have a little bit of a smoother ride to really immerse guests. One example? Space-themed rides. After all, your spaceship isn’t going to fall back a little while blasting off. Well, Disney has come up with an alternate way of getting a coaster up a lift hill, and you won’t believe the way it works. It’s all MAGNETS. An eddy current is a magnetic current and Disney has found a way to pair magnets and conductors in the track with those in the ride vehicle. The result is a seamless ascent where the two parts don’t even need to touch. A smooth lift hill might seem like a tiny detail, but this is a major innovation for making coasters immersive and comfortable. ©Disney We’re not sure exactly where we’ll see this tech applied in the parks. Could it be used on one of the upcoming coasters? Maybe. After all, the patent WAS initially filed in July of 2017, the same month as the announcement of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. It could be a coincidence, but consider our interest piqued! Keep an eye on DFB for ALL of the latest updates on Disney tech! Click here to see more of Disney’s recent inventions! 17. It’s no secret that Disney’s attractions are on the cutting edge of technology. Frozen Ever After Ride To keep its position at the forefront of theme park tech, Disney is CONSTANTLY putting out new inventions. We love combing through Disney patents to see innovations such as an interactive phone case or a crazy VR lightsaber experience. Well, we recently spotted a patent that might point to a whole new way to create a water ride! Let’s take a look! Disney has actually filed a patent for a new ride system! We noted a patent for a “Boat Capture and Launch System for Water Rides.” This one is a little more self-explanatory than some of the other inventions that they come up with. Disney has come up with a new way to control the flow of boats on a water ride. That’s pretty neat! ©Disney Essentially, the boat sits in a channel and floats into an arm-like mechanism. This mechanism can then be used to gently or quickly stop the watercraft, or gently or quickly launch it. Boat Patent ©Disney Now, the actual invention here isn’t as exciting as what it might MEAN. Sure, this system might help elongate the life of existing water rides. But what if it’s for an upcoming water ride?! Or for a BIG update on a current ride? The patent mentions that water rides are super popular, and the demand will only grow in the coming years. Could we see a new boat ride or a big update in the Disney parks in the next few years? Only time will tell! Did you know water rides are notoriously finicky? Click here to learn more! What do you think of this cool new invention? Tell us in the comments? 18. Two major professional sports leagues — the National Basketball Association and Major League Soccer — are preparing to resume play in Walt Disney World. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex And today, representatives of the two Orlando teams (NBA’s Orlando Magic and MLS’s Orlando City Soccer Club) presented to Florida’s Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force to share their plans as they get ready to PLAY BALL (ok, that’s baseball, I know…) at Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. National Basketball Association Alex Martins, CEO Orlando Magic, began with an overview on the plans for the National Basketball Association, starting with a thank you to Orange County’s Mayor Demings and the Task Force for their work. He also thanked their “great partners” at Disney for “working hand in hand with the NBA” to create a safe environment to resume. NBA Mickey Basketballs Martins reminded those present that the NBA suspended play on March 11 and shared that the league considered “hundreds of different models” to restart the NBA season. Noting the safety of the players, coaches, and staff as the main priority, they determined resuming in one location would be the best way to control safety, and they ultimately selected the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney World. ESPN Tervis Tumbler Twenty-two teams will convene on July 7th. Martins also noted that teams began to convene yesterday at their individual practice facilities (where each individual is being tested every other day). When it comes to getting to Orlando, travel parties will be in groups of 35, and will be quarantined for a few days upon arrival in this “campus community,” when daily testing will also begin. Three weeks of training camp will precede game play which will begin on July 30th. While no live spectators will be present, the games will be televised “worldwide,” as they are played all day long, rotating among three facilities in the Complex. Jostens Center at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Martins also mentioned aspects of the “stringent sanitization” process surrounding every game and the courts they are played on, and those procedures will extend to areas such as weight rooms. Players are encouraged to not leave the campus. If they do, they will be quarantined for “a number of days” before rejoining. Each team will play 8 games to determine playoff seeding. Once those games are over, the playoffs will begin in their regular playoff format. If there is a NBA Finals Game 7, it would be played on October 13th, meaning that the total time of the NBA in Orlando would be right around 3 months. Throughout that time, players, coaches, and staff will be staying at three Disney World Resort hotels — the Grand Floridian, Disney’s Yacht Club, and the Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Martins stated in conclusion that this is a great opportunity for the community, and noted how “Sports has a great ability to help us heal.” In response, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings expressed that it is “truly exciting” to hear about how the NBA has gone to great lengths to ensure safety of its players, giving “kudos” to the NBA and the Orlando Magic. Major League Soccer Caesar Lopez, CAO Orlando City Soccer Club, also presented an overview for the return of Major League Soccer. Thanking the Task Force, Lopez noted that all 26 MLS teams will play at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in what they are referring to as the MLS is Back Tournament. ©MLS Noting that the season had gotten off to a great start, Lopez shared that “we are excited to have a meaningful competition” in the Wide World of Sports Complex. Play will start on July 8th and go until August 11th. Lopez stated that, similar to the NBA, having all 26 teams come to Orlando gives a chance for the League to control safety measures. Protocols will be in place with all 26 teams in a centralized location. Teams will arrive no later than 7 days prior to the first match in travel parties of no larger than 45. Magic of Disney at Orlando International Aiport Prior to arrival, testing will be conducted every other day, and the League has partnered with a lab to streamline the process. Testing will take place again immediately upon arrival in Orlando, and players will be able to train only upon receiving a negative result, in addition to other safety protocols. Likewise, there will be no fans present at the games, but the League plans to “find innovative and exciting ways” to engage fans through media. He mentioned the hope that this return will be something of a launching platform with a revised regular season schedule in each team’s home market and for the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and the 25th MLS Cup. ESPN Tervis Tumbler Lopez also shared that the schedule will be released this week “if not sooner,” stating that the players are “ready to go” and ready to represent Orlando well. Mayor Jerry Demings, “as a former high school soccer player” himself, stated that “we appreciate what Orlando City has done for our entire community,” extending his thanks to MLS as well. And that’s the latest sports news from the DFB! We’ll keep you posted as Walt Disney World prepares to welcome not only Major League sports but also is in the process of welcoming guests back to the resort starting with select Resort hotels this week. 20. Disney World’s Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system went live earlier this week.
