There is a LOT of news happening surrounding the Walt Disney World dining scene. First, many restaurants around the Resort are now up and running again as select Resort hotels reopened to guests just yesterday. Be Our Guest Restaurant And yesterday we also got the FULL LIST of restaurants that will be opening in the parks when Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom reopen starting July 11th followed by Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT on July 15th! Among the options on the list for guests at Magic Kingdom starting July 11th is Be Our Guest Restaurant. And it is not only one of the most popular restaurants in Magic Kingdom; it is, in fact, one of the most in-demand restaurants in all of Walt Disney World. The Grand Ballroom at Be Our Guest Restaurant However, the reopening is not without some changes… some pretty big changes. For instance, we’ve already discussed that Breakfast will not be served at Be Our Guest Restaurant upon the reopening, and Lunch — which was previously a very popular counter service offering — will be the same as Dinner, featuring a prix-fixe meal at a Signature Dining price point. Be Our Guest Prix-Fixe Menu You can read about the above changes by clicking here. But now we’d like to direct your attention to some changes we noticed on the prix-fixe menu, which includes the guest’s choice of an Appetizer and Entrée with a Dessert Trio to complete the meal. Prix Fixe Menu Changes Among the appetizers, the Escargot has been removed from the options for adults. Escargot Appetizer ©Disney Guests will still be able to choose from French Onion Soup, Maine Lobster Bisque, Mixed Field Greens and a selection of Assorted Meats and Artisanal Cheese. Adult Entrees previously included Spice-dusted Lamb Chops; however, that selection is also gone. Remaining choices feature the Herb-salted Pork Tenderloin, Center-cut Filet Mignon, Poulet Rouge Chicken, Pan-seared Sea Scallops and the plant-based Roasted Corn and Spinach Tortellini. Filet Mignon at Be Our Guest The little Belles and Beasts in your group will no longer find the Seared Shrimp Skewer as one of their Entrée choices. But they will be able to order their choice of Grilled Beef Tenderloin, House-made Macaroni & Cheese, or Pan-seared Chicken Breast. And to go along with it, they can choose two from among Sautéed Zucchini, Steamed Green Beans, Sweet Potato Wedges, and Wild Rice. But the Cauliflower Fried Rice is no longer an option. “As the Dining Room proudly presents…” your DESSERT, guests will still be presented with the Dessert Trio of a Lemon Jam Macaron, Dark Chocolate Truffle, and a White Chocolate “Chip” Cup filled with the famous GREY STUFF. Dessert Trio Children receive their own version of the dessert plate! Kids’ Dessert Trio So, that is what the menu changes look like for the prix-fixe meal at Be Our Guest Restaurant. See our review of the Prix Fixe Experience at Be Our Guest Restaurant here! Lunch Menu Changes As you’ve noticed from above (and also here), Lunch at Be Our Guest will be an entirely different affair than the counter service option that has been available previously… at least upon the initial reopening of the restaurant. Be Our Guest Restaurant Entrance That means that items which were previously unique to Lunch will not be available upon the reopening. These include the Corn Bisque as an Appetizer option. Lunch for the Table at Be Our Guest The Entrees which will no longer be served include the Braised Chicken (Coq Au Vin style), the French Dip Sandwich, the Tuna Nicoise Salad, the Carved Turkey Sandwich, the Spring Shrimp or Chicken Salad, the Bean Cassoulet, and the Croque Monsieur Sandwich. Tuna Niçoise Salad For the kiddos, the Feast a la Beast, Les Macaronis Maurice, and Chip’s Delight are among the no-longer-served options. This also meant that the desserts — which featured Lemon Meringue and Triple Chocolate Cupcakes along with the signature “grey stuff” cupcake, called The Master’s Cupcake — will no longer be available; nor will the Lemon Raspberry Cream Puff or Crème Brulee. Be Our Guest Master’s Cupcake But remember, the Grey Stuff IS included as part of the Dessert Trio, so you wont miss Lumiere’s prized offering. And more importantly, you won’t miss the chance to say… White Chocolate “Chip” Cup “Try the Grey Stuff! It’s delicious!” when you dine once again at Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom! You can follow along with all the latest reopening news about Walt Disney World Resort by visiting the links below. What do you think of the changes coming to Be Our Guest Restaurant? It’s National Pollinator Week! Did you know that pollinators, including bees and butterflies, make one in every three bites of food possible? Or that pollinators add $15 billion of value to US crops every year? Pollinators provide a perfect example of how a little hard work and cooperation can make a big difference in the world, which is why we want to take the time to thank our hard working pollinators this National Pollinator Week. What is a Pollinator? So what exactly is a pollinator? A pollinator is an animal that helps flowering plants reproduce by moving pollen from one flower to another. We can’t have fruit and veggies without pollen! Some of the best pollinators in the world are bees, and there are more than 20,000 kinds of bees in the world! You can probably recognize a honey bee or a bumble bee, but bees range from as small as a fruit fly to as big as a ping-pong ball, and can be yellow and fuzzy, metallic green, iridescent purple, and everything in between. Other common pollinators include butterflies, flies, hummingbirds, and bats. About 90 percent of flowering plants need pollinating insects to help them reproduce, including about 75 percent of the plants that we eat. That means without pollinators our diet would be very different! Our natural areas would be radically different as well, with no wildflower meadows or trees full of blooms each spring. Making a Difference Unfortunately, pollinators are declining around the world, mostly due to habitat loss. That’s why we work hard to make Walt Disney World Resort as pollinator friendly as possible, and our team has observed more than 70 pollinator species around the resort to date! To provide even more habitat for pollinators, we even created pollinator-friendly gardens near the new 270-acre, 50-megawatt solar facility, which provides renewable clean energy to Walt Disney World Resort. (University of Florida is raising federally endangered Miami blue butterflies and releasing them in the Florida Keys in an effort to restore wild populations. Credit: Credit: Geena Hill) The Disney Conservation Fund has also supported nonprofit organizations that protect more than 70 species of pollinators around the world from bay checkerspot butterflies in California and Hawaiian yellow-faced bees in Hawaii, to golden-capped fruit bats in the Philippines. Among these organizations is the University of Florida, whose team has been leading important efforts to protect more than 42 species of at-risk butterflies in Florida and California through species research and reintroductions, habitat restoration, and outreach. Together, Disney Conservation and University of Florida have raised and released into the wild more than 3,400 Atala butterflies, 10,500 endangered Miami blue butterflies and nearly 1,000 endangered Schaus’ swallowtails! How You Can Help You can make a difference for pollinators at your home, too, by creating a pollinator garden. Reach out to a local nursery and ask what types of native pollinator plants might be a good fit for your home garden – many are open and offer delivery or curbside pick-up. At Walt Disney World Resort, we design pollinator habitats using the mantra “diversity begets diversity.” The more different types of flowers we have – short, tall, big, small, from ground cover to towering trees – the more different types of pollinators we can attract and support. It is also helpful to have at least three of any type of plant to make sure you are providing enough flowers for any pollinator that might visit. Don’t have a lot of garden space? Don’t fret! You can make a meaningful difference by planting even a few flowering plants on a windowsill or in a patio container garden. See our tips on making a successful patio pollinator garden here! Once you have the flowering plants, watch closely to see which pollinators use the garden. Before long, you will likely see butterflies, bees, and more foraging on the nectar and pollen you provided. You can find out more about these amazing pollinators at DisneyAnimals.com and learn more about honeybees from our friends at NatGeo here. View the full article

We’ve seen a lot of changes happening at some Disney World restaurants that have recently reopened and now we’re starting to see some of the restaurants that are getting ready to reopen with the theme parks on July 11th and July 15th (see the full list here!). Premium Mickey Ice Cream Bar at Disney World There have been sweeping menu cuts, digital menus, and even new Mobile Dine Check-In feature to the My Disney Experience app — but today we spotted a HUGE change on Be Our Guest’s website! As fans of the popular Beauty and the Beast-themed restaurant at Magic Kingdom’s New Fantasyland may recall, Be Our Guest began serving a quick-service breakfast and lunch menu during the daytime to help keep up with demand, while at night they switched over to a reservations-only table service restaurant. Be Our Guest Sign But according to Be Our Guest’s webpage this afternoon, their quick-service breakfast menu is no longer available! It has been completely erased — and that’s not ALL… Screenshot From Disney World’s Website …they’ve switched their lunch menu offerings over to a prix fixe menu too! Be Our Guest Lunch Menu We’d had a hunch something like this might be in the works when we noticed only Be Our Guest’s table-service Cast Members were being called to return to work, but NOT their counter-service food and beverage crews. Now we might know why! Entrance into Beast’s Castle And for now, it looks like lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant will cost you the same as dinner! Adult’s prix fixe meals cost $62, while kids’ meals are $37! Lunch Menu All of the offerings appear to be exactly the same between the lunch and dinner prix fixe menus for now, but we’ll let you know if anything changes! In the meantime, you can check out this great tip we’ve discovered for using Disney’s Park Pass system — click here to learn more! Read about 6 surprises we weren’t expecting to see at the reopening of select Disney World resorts here! Are you surprised by Be Our Guest’s menu switch-up? As of June 22nd, select Disney World Resort hotels have reopened! Beach Club Resort in Disney World With several major changes to the Disney World Resort hotel experience, we’re here to help you get a feel for what it’s like to visit a newly reopened hotel! So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the answers to your frequently asked questions about Disney World hotels! Which Disney World hotels will be reopening? While previously we knew that Disney Vacation Club resorts and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort would be reopening on June 22nd, Disney recently released a complete list of which hotels will be available for guests soon! Disney World Hotel Reopening Dates ©Disney Disney hasn’t officially said when Disney’s All-Stars Resorts, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort (both French Quarter and Riverside), Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House (non-DVC rooms) or Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (non-DVC rooms) will reopen, but we’ll be monitoring the situation and hopefully will be able to provide more information soon. Which Disney World restaurants will be reopening? At first, Disney only confirmed a few restaurants would be reopening on June 22nd (you can view the full list here). And for now, Topolino’s Terrace’s breakfast is the only character meal being offered at Disney World. Hi Mickey! But now, Disney has shared its FULL LIST of restaurants that will be reopening July 11th and July 15th. Some dining experiences may be modified — we just learned Be Our Guest Restaurant will only be offering a table service Prix Fixe lunch and dinner menu while breakfast is being discontinued for the time being. Be Our Guest Sign When dining in Disney World, guests can also use the new Mobile Dine Check-In feature which you can read more about here. Disney has also confirmed which attractions, entertainment, and shops will be reopening soon. See what’s character dining is like now at Disney World! Are rooms being left vacant for 24-48 hours between guests? Universal Studios has stated they would try to allow 24-48 hours to pass between reusing their guests’ rooms, but Disney World hasn’t made any official statements regarding this matter. Bay Lake Tower From our experience today, there appears to be a fraction of the guests that these hotels normally see, and the Disney World resorts feel really empty. See how Disney World has modified its guest rooms here! What’s going on with Club level? All Club-level service will be temporarily unavailable until further notice. Bay Lake Tower In-room celebrations, dry cleaning, and valet laundry services are also not occurring at this time. Laundry Services Self-service laundry facilities are still available at this time for Disney World resort guests to use. Self-Service Laundry Guests can also utilize the Laundry View app to see if a washer or dryer is available or check if their laundry’s done before leaving their room! Read more about this free feature that makes doin’ laundry at Disney World less of a hassle here! Click here to learn more about self-serve laundry at Disney World right now Will I still receive a gift card if I choose to decline housekeeping services? Before the temporary closures, Disney World’s moderate and value resorts offered guests a Disney gift card worth $10 for each night of their stay, excluding their final night, if folks opted out of daily housekeeping services. It was called the Service Your Way promotion and it wasn’t made available at Disney World’s deluxe resorts. Grand Floridian Cafe Cast Member However, we confirmed with a manager today Service My Way will is not being offered for the time being. All guests may choose to decline housekeeping regardless of whichever resort they’re staying at, but as of right now, they won’t be issuing gift cards if you decide to forgo cleaning services. Will Disney’s Magical Express deliver your luggage to your room? Disney’s Magical Express is running back and forth from Orlando International Airport and will shuttle your luggage to your resort. Disney’s Magical Express Bus However, Bell Services cannot drop off your luggage unless someone is in the room. For us, it has been hard to get a call through to Bell Services and it took quite some time to receive our luggage. But Disney has stated Cast Members are still able to deliver luggage to rooms — just not escort guests to their rooms. What other deliveries are being handled at the Resorts? Can I get food delivered if I’m there to receive it? Grocery delivery is a convenient (and often cheaper!) way to get common goods such as bottled water, breakfast cereal, diapers, and other items sent to your resort. Contemporary Resort We’ve been able to confirm services such as Instacart, Garden Grocer, or any packages you have mailed to your hotel up to a week before your arrival date can still be delivered to your resort. You can also still get food delivered to your resort via Postmates, Grubhub, or any other delivery service. Note that there’s a $6 fee charged if you want any delivery brought to your room, otherwise you can pick it up at the front desk area. Read more about having groceries or packages delivered to your newly reopened Disney World resort here! Are the resort fitness centers open? In addition to most of the resorts’ pools we’ve visited today, we’ve noticed Disney World resorts’ fitness centers are open but mostly vacant. Fitness Center Some locations may have reduced hours and capacity, and instructor-led fitness classes will not be available for the time being. Fitness and sports courts are also open with social distancing in place. Are the resort still providing free shampoo and conditioner? Mini toiletries are still available at the resorts that previously offered them. We found these in our room at Bay Lake Tower this afternoon. Mini Toiletries Meanwhile, larger dispensers of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are still installed on the wall at the resorts which had them prior. Toiletries Like we’ve recently seen at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort with their in-room shower products, the bottles are being freshly sanitized between guests’ stays, and sealed with a plastic wrapper with a “clean” sticker. Is grab-and-go food available? Can I take off my mask to eat it if I’m walking around? Can I eat by the pool? Convenient grab-and-go items are still available at the select restaurants that have reopened. Although all the snacks you’re used to might not be available (we noticed bakery cases aren’t being stocked with fresh goods in most places quite yet). Cove Bar Tables have been spaced apart and guests are allowed to remove their face masks while they’re seated, lounging, or swimming in most Disney World pool areas. Tables at Riviera Resort’s Pool We got a few mixed answers regarding when face masks must be worn at the resorts’ pools. One lifeguard said if guests are walking around the pool deck, they’ll ask you to wear to your face masks. Other resorts told us face masks are “strongly recommended” in pool areas (basically once you pass through the gates) but are no longer mandatory once you’re inside. See what it’s like to swim in a newly reopened Disney World resort’s pool! Can I visit other resorts’ quick service restaurants? A confirmed dining reservation is required for day Guests (those not staying overnight) and is highly recommended for Guests staying overnight at a Disney Resort hotel — that’s their official word on the matter and was confirmed by several Security Cast Members we spoke to today. Our dining reservations were checked before being permitted to enter a resort other than where we have our hotel reservation. Lunch at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort However, we noticed after our dining reservation at Grand Floridian Cafe at Disney’s Grand Floridian, the walkway to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was open and guests could walk back and forth between the two resorts after initially getting into one. The same is true if you have a reservation (resort or dining) at Disney’s Beach Club or Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. Click here to see what we thought of reopened Grand Floridian Cafe! Are the Disney World resorts allowing Ride Share? Ride Share services are currently being allowed inside Disney World resorts to drop off or pick up guests. They are also allowed at Disney Springs. Disney Springs For now, Minnie Vans are temporarily unavailable and will resume at a later date. Is there a capacity limit for pools? Disney World has stated there would be a limit to how many people are allowed to swim at one time, however, there were very few people at the pools today, so there wasn’t a need for guests to wait outside for their turn to enter. Riviera Resort’s Pool There were several lounge chairs available and signs that asked guests not to move chairs around since they’ve been spaced apart for social distancing. We hope to learn more details regarding what exactly are the pools’ capacities limited to at a later date. Is pin trading still happening? Pin trading hasn’t been happening anywhere at Disney World between guests and Cast Members since the closures, and now that the resorts have reopened, we can officially say it’s not currently happening at the hotels either. Pin Trading Board Pinboards are potentially available at hotel gift shops, but pin books and boards at the front desk have been suspended. Disney is probably aware that they cannot entirely eliminate pin trading that takes place between two guests, but for now, it looks like we’ll have to wait and see if and when pin trading with Cast Members resumes again. Click here to learn more about the current status of pin trading at Disney World! We know this is a BIG change to finally get back inside the Disney World hotels and we’re here to answer any and all questions that you may have. Keep firing off those questions you may have about the Disney World resort hotels, and we’ll keep answering them for you! Who’s up for a treat? We’re back at one of our favorite ice cream spots for the first time since mid-March! Beaches and Cream And while the to-go window is now open, we’ve got a dining reservation to eat inside! Join us as we step inside a newly reopened Beaches and Cream to check out their offerings — which usually come topped with tons of whipped cream and a cherry! Arriving and Checking In Beaches and Cream is one of the many dining locations in Disney World participating in the new Mobile Dine Check-In. With this new feature on the My Disney Experience app, we did not have to check-in at any host stand. Mobile Dine Check-In Instead, you receive a push notification when your check-in window opens, or you can scan a QR code that’s placed next to the stand to let the Beaches and Cream folks know when you’ve arrived! Beaches and Cream Once you virtually check-in, you’ll receive a separate notification when your table is ready! Looks like it’s time to go in! Learn more about how Disney’s Mobile Dine Check-In works here! Seating and Menu Like every other newly reopened dining location we’ve checked out in Disney World, tables and seating are now spaced out to accommodate physical distancing. Beaches and Cream Seating We noticed all of the records have been removed from Beaches and Cream’s famous jukebox and haven’t quite made their way back yet! Luckily, there was still a little music playing in the background (one someone’s phone!) but towards the end of our meal, it got a little quiet when the Cast Member went home and took their tunes with them! Kind of weird to sit in a silent Beaches and Cream. Let’s Listen to Some Oldies! Condiments like ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise are also only available to individually wrapped packets for now, so if you were hoping to see Beaches and Cream’s cute squeeze bottles, you’re outta luck! Read more about one of the digital menus we saw at Disney Springs here! Condiments As for menus, Beaches and Cream has a QR code to scan so that guests may view the menu electronically or you can request to see a disposable paper copy. Beaches and Cream Menu We were told some of Beaches and Cream’s menu items aren’t currently available including the Beaches & Cream Salad, Patty Melt, Turkey and Applewood-smoked Bacon Sandwich, and Salmon Sandwich with Bacon Aioli. Beaches and Cream Menu They’ve also erased their Plant-based Bowl of Chili, Chicken Noodle Soup, and dessert offerings including Apple À la Mode and Beaches Chocolate Cake for the time being! Read about more recent Disney World restaurant menu changes here! Beaches and Cream Menu The rest of the menu looks about the same and don’t worry — Kitchen Sinks and No Way José Sundaes have re-emerged unscathed! Beaches and Cream Menu In fact, there was still plenty of ice creamy offerings to be had! Beaches and Cream Menu It’s been a long time since we got to DIVE into one of these bad boys, so without further delay, let’s get to the FOOD! Eats We had worked up quite the appetite today, so we went with the French Dip Sandwich, Beaches & Cream Grilled Cheese, and Cheddar Bacon Ranch Chicken Sandwich! Beaches & Cream Even though we were anxious to skip right to dessert, Beaches and Cream’s food is truly delicious, too — hence one of the reasons why we’re so obsessed with this joint! The French Dip Sandwich was truly on point! The crunchy onion straws added some nice texture and the au jus was rich and meaty! The tater tots that came on the side were nice and crispy too! French Dip Sandwich The Cheddar Bacon Ranch Chicken Sandwich was super yummy, too! Packed with tons of flavor thanks to all that melty cheese and BACON! The fries were perfectly golden brown and crispy as well. Cheddar Bacon Ranch Chicken Sandwich And even though it’s one of Beaches and Cream’s most simple offerings, we LOVE their Grilled Cheese! The bread is so buttery and toasty while the cheese is all melty and gooey. You’re never too old to enjoy such a good Grilled Cheese Sandwich done right! Beaches & Cream Grilled Cheese And of course, the moment we’ve ALL been waiting for! Bring on the ice cream! We almost cried when we laid eyes on this Fudge Mudslide Sundae, complete with Oreo cookie Mickey ears! Fudge Mudslide Sundae But why order only one sundae when you can get TWO?! We also felt compelled to get the Snickers Sundae as well! Now it’s a PARTY! Snickers Sundae We definitely had to save some room for these sundaes — we know we’re not to only ones who get most of our food wrapped to-go so we can focus on more important matters such as ICE CREAM! But Beaches and Cream is truly the best of both worlds and we have to enjoy a meal AND dessert each time we come! Catch up on Disney’s decision to temporarily suspend the Disney Dining Plan here! Payment Our bill arrived in a disposable paper envelope which we’ve seen at other restaurants that have recently reopened at Disney World. Check Holder And for those of you with Tables in Wonderland, it is still being accepted at Beaches and Cream! Overall Impressions Anyone with a love of the oldies but goodies can find a good time happening at Beaches and Cream — ESPECIALLY if you have a sweet tooth! We were so happy to get to enjoy this special place again and even though we’ll have to wait a little longer to rock out to our favorite records, we’ll definitely be back for more classic eats and sweets! A reopening date has been announced for Tokyo Disney Resort! Both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will begin a phased reopening on July 1st. Tokyo Disneyland The announcement for the reopening of Tokyo Disneyland followed the news that Disneyland Paris will welcome guests once again starting July 15th. And, as is the case with Disneyland Paris, we also have information about health protocols that will be implemented when Tokyo Disney Resort reopens in order to promote the safety of guests and cast members. While you can explore the full list of measures on the Tokyo Disney Resort website, we’ll take a look at some of the protocols here, noting that Tokyo Disney Resort shares the following statement: “We will be deliberate in our operations, thoroughly implementing health and safety measures such as controlled capacity through limits on attendance, limited visitors in attractions, shops, restaurants, and other facilities, regular cleaning and sanitization, proactively requesting guests to maintain social distancing, among other things. “ Limited Capacity Tokyo Disneyland will be reducing capacity in both parks as well as in attractions, entertainment, shops and restaurants upon the July 1st reopening and “until further notice.” Soaring: Fantastic Flight Of course, capacity limitations will begin with ticket sales, with tickets available to guests starting at 3PM on June 25th (available via the Tokyo Disney Resort Online Reservations & Tickets website). Also “until further notice,” only guests who have bought fixed date tickets will be able to enter the parks. (Tickets will be available to purchase up to approximately a month ahead of time.) Guests will be able to choose from among three types of tickets: a 1-Day passport (with an entry time of 8AM), a Fixed Date Time Passport starting at 11AM, or a Fixed Date Time Passport stating at 2PM. Tokyo DisneySea And when it’s time to visit, guests will notice enhanced measures as well. In the Parks New health protocols will begin upon entering the parks, as guests will undergo temperature screening upon entrance to the parks, and will also be required to wear masks. Popsicle at Tokyo DisneySea Hand sanitizer will be spotted in several locations throughout the park, including attractions, shops, restaurants, restrooms and other locations. Guests will also see markings to designate a safe distance in places around the park including — but not limited to — attraction queues. Speaking of queues, Single Rider and FASTPASS will both be suspended until further notice, and guests will also note hand sanitizers at attraction exits. Soaring: Fantastic Flight Queue As we have experienced in Walt Disney World as select Resort hotels have started reopening as of yesterday, beloved Disney Characters will still be part of the park experience! Physical distancing, however, will be incorporated, as character greetings that include direct contact with guests will be suspended. Jiminy Cricket in Tokyo Disney Resort Additionally, entertainment which encourages large group gathering will be impacted, with productions including Disney Light the Night fireworks, the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights, and various shows suspended for the time being. Tokyo Disney Electrical Parade Restaurants and shops will incorporate additional measures, too, of course, including increased sanitation and the encouraged use of cashless payment, among others. Again, you can find the list of measures and operational updates with a visit to the Tokyo Disney Resort website. But this gives you an idea of how Disney is taking a similar approach to Disney Parks and destinations worldwide in order to promote safety. And we have been covering the reopening of Walt Disney World Resort, which has reopened select Resort hotels to guests as of yesterday. Now that select Disney World resorts have reopened and the Disney Park Pass reservation system is live for guests who have valid theme park admission and a hotel reservation, we know many of you are trying to navigate making plans to visit the parks this summer. Boardwalk Resort And while we know there were a lot of technical difficulties with the Disney Park Pass reservation system yesterday, it seems like many folks have been successful in getting their needed reservations. So much so, we noticed that Disney’s Animal Kingdom has already filled up on July 14th! Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are slated to reopen before the other two theme parks on July 11th. Animal Kingdom After checking out the Disney Park Pass availability calendar this morning, we noticed Disney’s Animal Kingdom is currently showing that all of its reservations have been distributed for July 14th. Click here to read our step-by-step tutorial on how to use the new Disney Park Pass System! Screenshot From Disney World’s Website Disney Park Pass reservations are subject to availability. Though Disney has not released capacity numbers for the reopened parks — we know that there is a significant limit on attendance. Temple Shrine But theme park reporter Scott Gustin is stating Disney has held back some spots and more reservations and will be released when Disney World’s Annual Passholders have access to the Disney Park Pass system on June 26th. Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot are scheduled to reopen July 15th, and so far reservations on July 15th, 16th, or 17th have filled up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well. Today was a HUGE day. On top of the Disney World Resorts re-opening, the Disney Park Pass system went live for the first time. Disney’s Riviera Resort However, there’s a lot to keep in mind when it comes to the resorts and the new theme park reservation system. This week, the Disney Park Pass reservations are only opening up to resort guests with tickets (June 22), Annual Passholders (June 26), and regular ticket holders without resort hotel bookings (June 28). While new tickets and passes aren’t being sold, new Disney Resort reservations also aren’t available either (bummer). Grand Floridian Resort Pool Although you may really miss chilling on your balcony at the Contemporary, Disney made these limitations as a way of prioritizing guests who have existing reservations, tickets, and passes since Disney will need to limit access to the parks due to CDC guidelines, and they’re making sure guests with existing reservations get the first crack at the park pass system. Boardwalk Resort So what if you have a regular Disney World ticket, but no valid resort hotel, and you want to grab your reservations BEFORE the June 28th free-for-all (after all, we’re already starting to see opening days sell out!)? Well, if you get a valid hotel reservation before the 28th, then you’ll be able to book your park passes before they’re open to all ticket-holders. But the issue is: Disney has halted resort hotel bookings for the time being. HOWEVER, there are several non-Disney-owned hotels that also offer the early park pass booking perk! Beach Club Resort in Disney World Here’s what you need to know about booking Disney Park Pass reservations for your whole family! On top of the Swan and Dolphin Hotels, Shades of Green Resorts, and Four Seasons Orlando Resort, Disney has direct connections to multiple applicable Good Neighbor and surrounding area resorts. Many of them will provide many of the same perks that the Disney Resorts do and give you access to Disney World privileges that on-property resort guests receive. Swan and Dolphin Resort One of the privileges includes the ability to have primary access to the Disney Park Pass system with an existing hotel reservation. And, some of the resorts are allowing guests to book new stays for the future, so if you already have your tickets but don’t want to wait until the 28th to book your park passes, you might even be able to score Disney Park Pass spots EARLY after making a reservation at one of the hotels in the area. (Thanks to @themeparkmillennial for reminding us of this awesome tip!) Four Seasons Resort Orlando However, keep in mind that it may take up to 72 hours before your resort reservation can be linked into My Disney Experience, so in order to book BEFORE other ticketed guests on the 28th, be sure to book your applicable good neighbor hotel quickly. You’ll need to check with individual resorts to confirm the ability to use Disney Park Pass early before trying to book park reservations with an existing stay or making a new stay. Boardwalk Resort Some of the Bonnet Creek Resorts and Disney Springs Area Resorts listed here may have availability: Hilton Waldorf Astoria B Resort & Spa Best Western (note that this hotel appears to be not accepting new bookings at this time) DoubleTree Suites Holiday Inn Wyndham and Wyndham Garden Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Find out what counts as a “Walt Disney World Resort” here! This can be a BIG DEAL for the guests wanting to visit the parks as soon as possible, especially since Disney hasn’t stated when new reservations will be able to be booked on property. While it may not work for every Good Neighbor and surrounding resort, we definitely recommend looking into the possibility that your existing stay (or maybe even a new one) could be eligible to book Disney Park Pass reservations ASAP. Here are ALL the re-opening dates for Disney World Resorts! When do you plan on taking a vacation in Disney World next? Let us know in the comments below! As of today, select Disney World Resort hotels have now reopened! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort And prior to the reopening, Disney released lots of details regarding changes guests could expect to see — including the suspension of some resort activities, enhanced cleaning protocol, and the requirement that all guests have a hotel (or both hotel and dining) reservations to enter. But even though we were well-prepared, having combed over the must-read Health Acknowledgement Disney sent us last night and read through all the information that was provided to us while we used Disney World’s online check-in for our resort stay, there were still a few things that snuck up on us! Only Buses Are Running Until Parks Open Disney has shared with us some information regarding which methods of transportation we’ll be able to use during the initial phase of Disney World’s reopening. Daisy Duck Bus However, we found out today the only Disney transportation method of getting around right now is Disney World’s bus system. Buses are currently running to and from Disney Springs from each resort that has reopened today. If you want to get from one resort to another, your only free options are to do a bus switch at Disney Springs, or drive yourself. (Guests can also use a taxi or a ride share service, but that would incur an extra cost.) Grand Floridian Resort Valet parking is not currently available at the resorts and keep in mind you must have a hotel reservation (and dining reservation if you’re headed to a hotel you’re not staying in) booked to be allowed at a Disney World resort at this time, according to Disney. It appears, for now at least, Disney World’s monorail service, ferryboats, and Disney’s Skyliner aren’t likely to resume until the theme parks reopen, but we’ll keep you posted with any and all updates! No Temperature Screenings to Enter the Resorts Another thing we were surprised by this morning is how we walked right into our hotel! There are new health and safety signs throughout the grounds stating face coverings must be worn at all times while in common areas, but on-site temperature screenings aren’t currently being performed at any of the Disney World resorts. New Health and Safety Signage By now, we’re very used to having our temperatures taken since health screenings are required to enter Disney Springs and will be required to enter Disney World’s theme parks when they reopen next month. Click here to learn everything you need to know about temperature checks in Disney World! But this time, Disney World’s resorts are not requiring their guests to undergo mandatory temperature checks. They ask that you take your temperature at home before you arrive and stay home if you have any symptoms of illness. This Place Is EMPTY The Disney World hotels we’ve been exploring today have been very calm and quiet. Without the monorail whizzing by us at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and folk disembarking from Disney’s Skyliner at Disney’s Riviera Resort, there’s barely anyone here. Topolino’s Terrace was very empty today when we stopped by for their character breakfast. Topolino’s Terrace Dining Room Click here to see how character dining is now different in Disney World! Grand Floridian Resort was a ghost town! Grand Floridian Lobby Beach Club, Boardwalk…everywhere we went there was nobody! Boardwalk Resort Beach Club Resort Keep in mind Disney World is also limiting who they’re allowing to visit their resorts at this time. You must have a hotel reservation (and a dining reservation as well if you’re not staying at that particular hotel) to be allowed in. Security Cast Members asked us our name at the gate of one of the hotels we weren’t staying at but had made a lunchtime reservation to dine at. Only after checking their list to ensure we had a dining reservation there were we granted access. You Can Still Use Your Refillable Mugs! The Refillable Mug Program at Disney World has become an institution, allowing guests to receive free refills for a limited time. We were curious to see if refillable mugs would still be available — OR NOT! Refillable Mugs And it turns out, refillable mugs are still very much alive and well at Disney World! There have been a few modifications made to the process, but other than that, you’ll have the same fun gettin’ as much soda, coffee, and ice tea as you could ever want! Now, guests will bring their mug to a Cast Member who will fill a paper cup with the guests’ preferred beverage. The guest will then be given the paper cup to empty into their own refillable mug. Click here for more details about using refillable mugs at a newly reopened Disney World resort! Masks and Temperature Patches Are for Sale We noticed some new products have shown up on the shelves at Disney World’s gift shops. At Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s Bayview Gifts, hand sanitizer and Disney-themed cloth face masks are now being sold. They’re the same ones we’ve seen for sale at Disney Springs recently as well as online. Face masks for sale at Bayview Gifts La Boutique at Disney’s Riveria Resort also had Disney-themed cloth face masks for sale as well as disposable face masks. Disposable Face Masks Click here to see what it’s like to shop at a few of the newly reopened Disney World resorts! We also spotted Forehead thermometers that work like stickers and are reusable in case you don’t want to bring your own thermometer from home. Cinderella Castle Is Looking really, REALLY Pink! But perhaps the most shocking change of them all has been how far Cinderella Castle’s transformation has come along since our last visit to Magic Kingdom! We could see it from Disney’s Contemporary Resort today and it’s gone from gray to a rosy-pinkish hue! Cinderella Castle To us, the castle seems to be nearing its completion! Could it be ready in time for Magic Kingdom’s grand reopening on July 11th? It’s truly a mix of emotions being back at Disney World today and we can’t wait to share more of our experience with you! In order to help manage attendance, Disney World is implementing a theme park reservation system upon reopening — which means that there’s a BRAND NEW element that guests will need to plan for their vacation! Disney’s Animal Kingdom These theme park reservations will be available through September 26, 2021, and all guests will need a reservation in order to enter. As with all new processes, there is likely to be a bit of a learning curve — and since we know how important Disney World vacation planning is, we’re here to help! Here are five mistakes you’ll want to avoid while making your theme park reservations! 1. Not Making a Reservation for Each Day of a Multi-Day Ticket Okay, let’s start out with a biggie — you’ll need a separate reservation for each day in a theme park! So, if you have a multi-day ticket, don’t snag your reservation for Magic Kingdom on the first day and assume that you’re good to visit the park for the length of your trip! Magic Kingdom Yes, you can visit the Magic Kingdom on multiple days if you’d like — but you’ll need to secure a reservation for each day of your ticket. And keep in mind that the reservations are subject to availability! Which brings us to our next point… Click here to learn about how character experiences will work in the reopened Disney World parks! 2. Waiting to Make Your Theme Park Reservations Prior to the theme park closure, many guests enjoyed having some spontaneity in their Disney World vacation — maybe you’re used to deciding which park to visit based on how you feel when you wake up in the morning. If that sounds like you, you might want to switch up your planning style and make your theme park reservation as early as possible. Spaceship Earth The reservations are subject to availability, so if you wait until the last minute, you might end up missing out. Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ first few days sold out quickly on the program’s first day! Disney’s Hollywood Studios entrance So, when can you make your reservations? Disney Resort and other select hotel Guests with valid theme park admission could make reservations beginning June 22nd. Annual Passholders without an already-booked Resort Hotel stay can make reservations beginning June 26th. And existing ticket holders can make reservations beginning June 28th. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge On June 28th, all guests will be able to purchase new Disney Resort hotel packages and theme park tickets and make theme park reservations for arrivals in 2021. Theme park availability WILL be visible before you buy! So, if you’re planning on heading to Disney World in the next year or so, be sure to snag your theme park reservations ASAP. (Note that Disney has paused hotel reservations and ticket purchases for 2020 at this time. Stay tuned for information about when they reopen those bookings and purchases later this summer.) Here are all of the rides and attractions that will be available at Magic Kingdom when the park reopens! 3. Not Linking Your Hotel and Park Tickets to My Disney Experience Ahead of Time Guests will need to use their My Disney Experience account to make theme park reservations. So, if you don’t have an MDE account, start by making one at DisneyWorld.com! Your tickets (and eligible hotel stays) must be linked to your account so that the Park Pass system recognizes your ticket eligibility, so you’ll need to be sure to link your park admission ticket numbers (usually listed on the back of the ticket) and Disney Resort hotel reservation BEFORE you try to book park passes. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Each person in your travel party (e.g. the people you want to visit the parks with) must have their valid admission linked. And this can be a surprisingly time-consuming process, especially if you run into any confusion — so we suggest taking care of this as far ahead of time as possible to minimize any delays in your theme park reservation selections! Here are the changes guests can expect to the Disney World Resort hotel experience this summer! 4. Not Linking Your Friends and Family Ahead of Time Within My Disney Experience, guests will find their Family & Friends list. Prior to the closure, this allowed guests to specify members of their party for Fastpass+ or Advance Dining Reservations. My Disney Experience screenshot And with the theme park reservation system, guests will also need to have all of the members of their party added to their Family & Friends list in order to add them to the park reservation. Again, don’t underestimate the time it can take to get your party connected — your friends will need to confirm that they approve of linking their MDE account to your list! Cinderella Castle So, make sure that all of the members of your travel party are added to your Family & Friends list ASAP to prevent delays in snagging those park reservations! These are the changes coming to Disney World dining this summer! 5. Not Deciding on a Plan With Your Family Ahead of Time There are a few additional factors to consider with the theme park reservation system. First, guests can only choose one park per day, so park hopping will not be an option (at least, for the foreseeable future). Also, everyone in your selected travel party will need to go to the same park that you snagged a reservation for, so again, there is less opportunity for spontaneity than in the past. The France Pavilion With those things in mind, it’s important to talk to your family as early as possible to formulate a plan. Which park(s) are your absolute must-dos? Have more than 4 days? Which parks do you want to repeat? Keep in mind that a few rides and attractions will be unavailable (we have full lists for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios!) so double-check which rides are running. Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom Be sure to decide as a family where your priorities lie and make your reservations accordingly! Disney World reopened select hotels today, so we’re taking a look at transportation! Let’s Go For a Bus Ride! Disney World transportation is a complex system on its own. Add in capacity limits and health measures, and we want to make sure we know EVERYTHING there is to know about the reopened transportation! We took a few rides today to see how things are running — here’s what we found out. What transportation options are available? Typically, Disney offers several transportation options — boats, buses, Skyliner, and monorail. Today, most of those options are limited. When we arrived at the resorts this morning, we learned that the only mode of transportation available currently are the buses! Bay Lake Tower And even if you would like to take a bus somewhere, you are limited in terms of where you can actually travel! Today, the only bus routes available were between Disney Springs and each of the open resorts. If you want to travel from one resort to another, you would have to drive. You COULD also take a bus from one resort to Disney Springs, and then another bus from Disney Springs to the second resort. BUT it might take a while. Read more about the continued closures of the Monorail and Skyliner here! How is it different? As we mentioned, there are capacity limits on transportation, but we also noticed some new health measures onboard as well as at the bus stops. While we waited for our bus to arrive, we noticed new hand sanitizer dispensers at our stop. Hand sanitizer dispenser at the Contemporary Resort bus stop Physical distancing floor markers were also present to help guests stay separated while they lined up for the buses. Floor markers when lining up for the buses As you can see, the bus station was just about as empty as every other place we’ve explored today! An empty bus station at the Contemporary! When our bus arrived, we noticed some pretty BIG differences once onboard! Disney has implemented a new seating system to ensure physical distancing of guests onboard the buses. When groups board, they are each assigned a “zone” to sit in. If you are traveling by yourself, you will get a whole zone to yourself. If your group is bigger than what one zone can accommodate, your group will get two zones. New seating system on Disney World’s buses On our first bus ride of the day, we were the only ones on board so we didn’t get to see the zoned seating in action. However, on our second bus ride, there was an additional party with us. Disney buses with zone seating and partitions The bus driver directed the other party to enter through back door and to sit in zone 6, while we were directed to enter through the front door and sit in zone 1. The goal is to have as few people as possible entering through the same set of doors. New seating system onboard Disney World’s buses Bus drivers are also wiping down surfaces on the bus after guests use them. There are also specific seats throughout the bus that are marked off as unavailable. Seat not available on a Disney bus Aside from the new seating zones, we also spotted partitions located between sections of the bus. These were spotted all up and down the bus! Disney’s buses with partitions New hand sanitizer dispensers were present at the bus stops at Disney Springs, too. Hand sanitizer dispenser at Disney Springs The bus riding experience at Disney World is definitely different than how we remember it! The new seating zones seem really interesting and we’ll have to check back in as the resorts get busier! What was waiting for the bus like? Of course, with those changes, we were wondering if it will take longer to get around. It was difficult to determine exactly when our bus would arrive, as the TV monitors were not on when we arrived to wait for our bus! The TV that tells you the current wait time for your bus was NOT working! And the bus took QUITE some time to arrive! We figured the buses would be operating at a reduced amount in this initial reopening phase, especially when you consider how FEW people we saw at the resorts! We would also like to take this opportunity to point out that the bus stop at the Contemporary does not have any fans, which we were definitely reminded of as we waited for our bus to arrive (HOT!). But at long last, our chariot arrived! Disney World bus Once we were on board, the ride itself was much like we were used to on Disney’s buses! At Disney Springs, the directory board that tells you which bus stop is for which hotel reflects only the resort hotels that are currently open. Bus Directory at Disney Springs The queue area for the buses at Disney Springs had similar physical distancing floor markers that we saw at our bus stop at the Contemporary. Floor markers at the Disney Springs bus stop We also spotted additional markers for an extended queue. Floor markers at the Disney Springs bus stop When you reach the front of the queue, there are markers present to keep you at a safe distance from the bus. Don’t cross the yellow line! At this time, there is one queue being utilized. Guests with ECVs or wheelchairs wait in the same queue as other guests. When those parties with ECVs or wheelchairs near the front of the queue, there is a separate gate to exit through. Gate for wheelchairs and ECVs Finally, we’ve noted that Disney World hotels are currently not appearing to require guests to submit to temperature checks, but Disney Springs DOES. When you exit the buses, all guests will be filtered through a temperature screening zone before they’re permitted to enter Disney Springs. We definitely recommend budgeting ADDITIONAL time to get to where you need to go if you’re using Disney’s bus transportation system (even more time than you originally planned for!). Between the reduced capacity on the buses and new loading systems for the zones, this will certainly take some getting used to! Catch up on everything else we’ve covered today here! Last week, we told you guys a large union comprised of many food and beverage Cast Members were being called back to work at Disney World’s restaurants. Remy Topiary at Ecpot’s Flower and Garden Festival At first, we were a little confused why Epcot was recalling its Festival food handlers — which, of course, we later found out only hours later was because Food and Wine Festival was returning on July 15th! And now we’ve just learned some of Disney World’s equity performers are being asked back. We don’t know which live productions these performers belong to, but according to a recent post made on Actors’ Equity Association — South Florida Division’s Facebook page, Disney is planning on calling back some of its Cast Members for rehearsals soon! Magic Kingdom Actors’ Equity Association is a large performing arts labor union that supports live theatrical performers.
