  4. We’ve been keeping a close eye on the storm forecast for Florida this coming week. Hurricane Skies in Disney World’s Epcot This morning, a storm strengthened to officially become Tropical Storm Isaias. The storm continues to have Florida in it’s forecasted cone and now, the National Hurricane Center expects that it will strengthen to a category 1 hurricane this weekend. The 2020 hurricane season is expected to be an overactive one, and Isaias already sets a record as the earliest “I” storm on record. ©FOX 35 According to Fox 35, the storm has already brought heavy rainfall, flooding, and strong winds to the Caribbean. Most recent models show the storm taking a more Eastern path, but the Eastern coast of Florida is still in it’s forecasted cone, with the potential for effects to be felt further into Florida. ©Fox35 Those in Disney World this weekend and earlier into next week will want to be prepared in case the storm does have an effect on your vacation. But, at this time, we can’t say for sure how it will the potential hurricane will impact the parks. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates on Tropical Storm Isaias and its effect on Disney World. 5. Starbucks Lovers: you may have to look somewhere else to get your caffeine fix at Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney! It’s an understatement to say there have been lots of changes at Downtown Disney lately. Earlier this month, we got the word that some of the merchandise and dining locations were scheduled to reopen. And then more reopened. And even more. When we visited Downtown Disney today, we saw that the Starbucks location near the LEGO Store is currently closed. While there is a note on the door, it does not list when the location will reopen. Closure Sign at Starbucks We were a bit surprised when we saw this because the location was opened when last we checked. Guests Read Starbucks Closure Sign But never fear, coffee-lovers! The Starbucks location by World of Disney is still open. Do note that it is also listed as temporarily closed on Google at this time. We will continue to update you on this situation and will let you know when this Starbucks spot reopens. Find Out More Starbucks Info Here! So what do you make of this closure? Disney’s been busy churning out new protective gear and has just released a collection inspired by the theme park attractions and characters! ALL the new Tiki Room merchandise we’ve been spotting lately is making us totally giddy. All of the masks listed here are $6.00. Tiki Room Mask This Haunted Mansion mask is inspired by the attraction’s wallpaper and giving us ghoulish delights! The only size we spotted today was a child’s size medium. 8. Ah EPCOT, you ever-changing park of progress. EPCOT We’re always keeping a sharp eye out for work being done in Disney’s biggest work-in-progress park and that means looking at a LOT of the building permits that the company is filing. We’re able to spot crazy new inventions and interesting construction projects this way, and today we spotted a new permit for a project NEAR Spaceship Earth! Hmm… The new building permit was filed to “Install east support facility graphics.” The East Support Facility is the building to the left of Spaceship Earth when you walk in. For guests, it features the Stroller Rental location, Gateway Gifts, and a restroom. Permit Screenshot The permit was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering which usually means it’s some sort of guest-facing change to the park. We’re not sure, but this could mean we see new graphics in one of these areas soon! Perhaps they’ll have something to do with the EPCOT Transformation. Gateway Gifts We’ll be on the lookout for any construction barriers or changes in this area, so stay tuned to DFB! We’ll let you know the deal with these new graphics as soon as we do! 10. We’ve been experiencing a roller coaster of emotions at Beaches and Cream in Disney World today! Beaches and Cream Menu The No Way Jose sundae is a crowd-favorite dessert at Disney World. Loads of ice cream are topped with chocolate and peanut butter sauce and served to you in an EPIC dessert goblet. We recently received some photos of the sundae that made us look twice. The sundae was served in a gravy boat instead of a goblet and were perplexed about the portion size. Was the No Way Jose getting a new look? Is it a smaller portion now? We headed over to Beach Club to take a closer look at the sundae. We ordered our dessert and it came to us in that glorious glass goblet! Constants are comforting, aren’t they? No Way Jose…in a Goblet! We asked the Server and she told us that the sundae is only served in a gravy boat if they run out of goblets. She also told us that the size of the sundae remains the same when served in the boat. It’s the same amount of ice cream and toppings! No Way Jose Phew! False alarm! The No Way Jose is still sold in the standard size and easily accessible from a giant glass goblet. It still tastes great too! We’ll continue to make our way back to Beaches and Cream to assess the dessert situations and give you the low-down! Want to see what else we discovered at Disney’s Beach Club Resort? 11. When we stopped by Disney World’s Beach Club Resort today to pay a visit to Beaches and Cream, we also made a little detour to check out one of our favorite things… Disney’s Beach Club We’re talking about CUPCAKES! The Beach Club Marketplace is the counter service spot where you’ll find sweet treats at this Deluxe Resort, and three cute cupcakes were there just waiting to catch someone’s attention… You may remember the Welcome Home Confetti Cupcake, which is still up for grabs. Welcome Home Confetti Cupcake It’s joined by two Mickey Cupcakes — complete with chocolate ears! — which are both vanilla cupcakes with a different presentation. One of them sports bright yellow frosting (perfect for Mickey, right?). Yellow Mickey Cupcake And the other is the Mickey Ice Cream Sundae Cupcake! How cute is this?! Mickey Ice Cream Sundae Cupcake This one, of course, resembles an ice cream sundae covered in “gooey” hot fudge. Mickey Ice Cream Sundae Cupcake Of course, the chocolate topper isn’t actually hot fudge, but the chocolate frosting lends a bit of flavor variation to what is otherwise a classic vanilla treat, from the buttercream top to the soft cake base. Mickey Ice Cream Sundae Cupcake The very best thing about it? Well, if you’re one of our fellow frosting fiends, then feast your eyes on THIS! Mickey Ice Cream Sundae Cupcake And THIS is why we always love the sundae-twist-on-a-cupcake… in order for it to resemble an entire scoop of ice cream, they pretty much have to stick a GIANT BALL OF FROSTING on the top! This cupcake is altogether sweet and tasty even with its simple flavor profile. Mickey Ice Cream Sundae Cupcake And it also still offers a fun presentation while not relying on a lot of bold colors, a la the Welcome Home Cupcake (pictured near the top), which can get a little messy, especially for the kiddos. Again, you’ll find this one at the Beach Club Marketplace for $5.99. And THAT’S the latest from Disney’s Beach Club (even though you’ll see us back here soon from Beaches and Cream)! And while we’re talkin’ ’bout the Beach Club, you can find out more about what it’s like at the reopened Disney World Resort hotels in our DFB YouTube Video right here… Do you have a favorite Disney cupcake? 12. We are really, really excited about the upcoming Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride. Ratatouille Ride Vehicle We like to check in on the France Pavilion a LOT to see what kind of work is being done to get this new attraction ready for opening. Recently, we flew over in the Skyliner and snapped some exciting pics! The France Pavilion expansion looks GOOD, y’all! The new attraction is set to be the centerpiece of expansion for the pavilion. It will also include a brand new restaurant — La Creperie de Paris — and the areas theming looks SPECTACULAR so far! France Pavilion Construction We noticed plenty of construction equipment and added lights for the workers to make progress in the area. Things are looking pretty far-along, but we definitely still see some work to be done with unfinished windows and paint jobs. France Pavilion Construction Initially, the new attraction was supposed to open in Summer 2020. A sign saying so was recently removed but we’re not sure yet if the park closure caused a delay. You can bet we’ll be keeping an ear to the ground for ANY news about the attraction’s opening. 15. You know how we love our cupcakes! Watermelon Hip Bag On our recent investigation at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, we noticed there was something different about the No Way Jose sundae from Beaches and Cream. Now, the Beach Club’s quick-service location has a totally new cupcake to add to our growing list of treats. Our Instagram friend @yellowbeadsandme sent us some gorgeous photos of a cheery watermelon cupcake and wanted to share this cupcake with the world! Watermelon Cupcake The new watermelon cupcake reminds us of the watermelon cupcake we spotted at Disney’s Pop Century Resort back in 2018. This cupcake also beckons us with bright colors and a rich chocolate cake! The cupcake is piled high with red and green icing and topped with chunky chocolate chips. You can make the cupcake your own for $5.99. Watermelon Cupcake We’ll be making our way to Disney’s Beach Club to check out the sundae situation and see if we spot anything else tasty! 18. We’re making our way around Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, checking out all the latest on this beautiful sunny day! Hollywood Studios And, in fact, we spotted something new before we even set foot in the park itself. A vending machine filled with face masks has been placed right next to the soda machines, which are located before the security check area that all guests must go through before entering the park. The new vending machine is stocked with the disposable variety of face masks. (We noticed vending machines at Universal Studios Hollywood that also sold masks, but those also had washable versions available.) Vending Machines outside of park entrance These come with elastic ear loops and an adjustable nose piece. Disposable Face Masks You’ll notice the small signage above that reads “Press Selection for Price,” which we did! The disposable masks are priced at $2.00. You’ll also see a few safety reminders popping up on the machine’s screens. Vending Machine safety message Of course, all guests over the age of 2 are required to wear a face mask “at all times” in Walt Disney World, except when dining or swimming, or eating and drinking while remaining stationary. (Disney’s policy has evolved since the Resort has reopened, and you can read the latest to be sure you’re in the know here.) So guests coming to the park are required to wear them while using Disney transportation to get to the park, by way of, say, a bus or the Disney Skyliner. Disney Skyliner Gondolas But, as we have learned, it is always good to have a spare handy. (In fact, we recommend bringing several along, and you can read more about that here.) So these machines can provide a good option for those in need. Check out our top tips for wearing a mask in a Disney World theme park here! And, remember, even inside the parks, you aren’t too far from additional options. We also found some disposable masks at Gateway Gifts in EPCOT. (Handy tip: they were $1.50 there, as opposed to the $2.00 at the vending machine.) Disposable Face Masks at Gateway Gifts Additional places where you can pick up some disposable masks include the Disney Resort hotel gift shops. You can even get some before you arrive on Disney World property, at vending machines in the Orlando International Airport. If you’re looking for some non-disposable options, you can find the popular Disney face masks all around Walt Disney World — from Disney Springs to the Resort hotels to the parks. Face masks for sale at Bayview Gifts And have you seen that we have an assortment of our own, right here on DFB? You can check them out here! Of course, we spotted some new things inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios, too . You might remember that the BB-8 Sipper missing the last time we swung by the popcorn carts. Now this adorable souvenir has been removed from the menu completely! 21. We noticed quite a few missing iconic snacks around Walt Disney World since it reopened. Cheshire Cat Tail The Peter Pan Float disappeared from Storybook Treats at the Magic Kingdom and the Simba Pretzel is nowhere to be found in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Some restaurants have yet to reopen too. The Cheshire Cafe in Magic Kingdom serves the crowd-favorite Cheshire Cat Tail. The stand hasn’t reopened yet so we’ve been missing out on one of our favorite pastries! Cheshire Cat Tail fans rejoice! We wanted to let you know that there is an almost identical version of the pastry in Animal Kingdom! We headed to the Isle of Java for our morning coffee and picked up another Tiger Tail Chocolate Twist. We wanted to be 100% certain that it tastes the same. Tiger Tail Chocolate Twist The only noticeable difference is the icing. The Cheshire Cat Tail matches the Alice in Wonderland character with purple and pink icing. The Tiger Tail is striped with black and orange icing. Both pastries are made with a flaky croissant crust and stuffed with chocolate. Yum! Tiger Tail Chocolate Twist Even though you can’t snag a Cheshire Cat Tail from Magic Kingdom you can still hustle over to Animal Kingdom for a Tiger Tail that should hit the spot!
