When you have dozens of hotels in Disney World, at least one of them is likely getting a refurbishment at a time! Treehouse Villas Over at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, you’ll find some of the coolest hotel rooms that Disney World has to offer — Treehouse Villas! These villas are massive and great for a large party, but they’re a bit outdated. Thankfully, they’re now getting refurbished. From now through mid-September 2026, refurbishment work will take place in phases at Saratoga Springs Resort, including refurbishments for the Treehouse Villas. If you’re staying at the resort, you may see or hear construction work during the daytime hours. The Treehouse Villas Also, starting March 23rd, the tennis courts and basketball court will be closed for refurbishment. They’re set to reopen in June. At this time, Disney hasn’t noted any other amenities that will be unavailable. Saratoga Springs Lobby We noticed some construction permits filed for the Saratoga Springs Treehouses back in December. Notices of commencement for each of the treehouse locations were filed with the contractor listed as Land-Ron. This is a nationwide hotel renovation contractor that, according to their website, “specializes in luxury interior finishes for major hospitality brands.” The Kitchen of the Treehouse Villas The interior of the treehouses currently wouldn’t exactly be described as “luxury,” so maybe we’ll see a bit of an upgrade with the refurbishment? The permits have an expiration date of January 1st, 2027, so that fits with the September timeline. We’ll be interested to see what the renovation looks like once it’s complete. Packing for a Disney park day sounds simple until you’re standing at the bag check, realizing you brought something you’re not allowed to have. ©Getty Images Disney’s bag rules are no joke, and Cast Members at the park entrances are absolutely enforcing them in 2026. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned annual passholder, it’s worth taking a few minutes before you head out to make sure your bag is good to go. We’ve rounded up the key rules Disney has on the books right now so you can pack smarter and skip the stress at security. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. There’s a Size Limit on Bags First things first: if your bag is massive, it’s not getting through the gates. Disney doesn’t allow suitcases, bags, coolers, or backpacks (wheeled or not) that are larger than 24 inches long x 15 inches wide x 18 inches high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm) at any of its theme parks or water parks. So if you were thinking about rolling in a giant hard-sided cooler or a piece of carry-on luggage, that’s a hard no. ©Amazon It’s also worth knowing that Disney straight-up reserves the right to turn away any bag, parcel, or item it deems inappropriate, and to handle any unattended bags however it sees fit. So even if your bag technically fits the size requirements, cast members still have the final call. Items You Can’t Bring In Your Bag (Or At All) Beyond the size restrictions, Disney has a list of prohibited items that aren’t allowed in the parks, period. Since most of these are things you’d typically toss in a bag, it’s important to know what’s on the list before you start packing. Here’s what you can’t bring: Large tripods and selfie sticks Folding chairs Suitcases and coolers Loose ice Glass containers (small containers like baby food jars are okay, but larger glass containers are out, and note that glass is permitted at Disney Resort hotels) Wagons and trailers Weaponry of any kind Masks that cover the entire face Alcohol, marijuana, or illegal substances Artificial noise makers Remote-control toys Other suspicious items Animal Kingdom (heads-up): If you’re visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom specifically, there are two additional things you can’t bring into that park that are allowed elsewhere. Balloons and plastic straws are both prohibited at Animal Kingdom, so keep that in mind when you’re packing for a day at that park. What We’d Recommend Packing Instead Now that you know what NOT to bring, here are a few of our favorite bag essentials that we’d never show up to a Disney park without. Start with this Poncho Frogg Toggs Poncho We don’t want you getting caught out in a Florida downpour with zero rain gear. The Frogg Toggs rain poncho is one of our go-tos because it’s actually breathable, and it compresses down into its own little carry pouch so it barely takes up any space in your bag. It comes in a bunch of colors, too, which is a nice bonus. view ON AMAZON Keep your Loungefly Organized with this HOYOFO Mini Backpack Organizer We are obsessed with our Loungefly bags, but let’s be honest, they can feel like a total black hole when you’re digging around for your phone or your snacks mid-ride. The HOYOFO Backpack Organizer genuinely changes the game. It keeps everything sorted, so you’re not doing a frantic excavation every time you need something. We save so much time with this thing. view ON AMAZON Tackle the Sun and the Rain with this Umbrella BAODINI Travel Mini Umbrella This one’s great for both sun and rain, which is exactly what you need on a Disney day. The BAODINI Travel Mini Umbrella comes with its own case and is super compact. We’ve found that popping one of these open can drop the temperature underneath by around 5 to 10 degrees, which is genuinely clutch during the hotter months. view ON AMAZON Stay hydrated with this Water Bottle Owala Rapunzel Water Bottle Staying hydrated at Disney is non-negotiable, and this Owala water bottle makes it so easy and so cute. The FreeSip design lets you either sip through the built-in straw or tilt it back to drink from the wide-mouth opening, and the double-wall insulation keeps your drinks cold for up to 24 hours. It’s got a carry loop that doubles as a lid lock, fits in cup holders, and comes in five Disney Princess color themes. The Rapunzel colorway is one of our personal favorites. The lid is dishwasher safe, though you’ll want to hand-wash the cup itself. Just note it’s not for hot liquids! view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! A fan-favorite ride is coming BACK to Magic Kingdom, and we couldn’t be more excited! ©Disney Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed in Magic Kingdom since 2025 to get a major refurbishment. It’s reopening on April 8th with new blasters, new interactive targets, a new ride scene…AND a new ride photo! When Disney announced the reopening date for the ride, they also revealed that the on-ride photo is changing. Like before, this will be a photo of you on the ride, in action shooting at targets, but now it has some new features. ©Disney For the first time, the Space Ranger Spin photos will include your stats from the ride! At the bottom below your photo, you’ll see each person’s overall score, as well as their earned rank from the in-ride game. Make it to Galactic Hero? You’ll be able to prove it to all your friends! ©Disney The photo also breaks down how many targets you hit during the ride and the number of special targets you hit. Now THESE are the stats we want, people! Get ready to compare skills with your family and friends. ©Disney As we mentioned above, the ride will be getting new blasters — these are handheld and removable from the dock in front of you for more accurate aiming. The targets on the ride will now interact with you when shot, as well. In addition, there’s a new scene at the beginning of the ride with an animatronic named Buddy — he’ll be teaching you how to succeed in the game. ©Disney We can’t wait to experience the new version of this attraction when it opens next month. We’ll keep you in the loop with any more announcements about it. Stay tuned to DFB by subscribing to our newsletter and following us on social media. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom has been closed for over a year, and we’ve been (not-so-patiently) waiting for Disney to let us know when we can expect to ride the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness again! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad news! This was a massive refurbishment, with additional storylines and fresh new tracks hitting the roller coaster — so it’s no wonder it took quite a while. But now, we finally know when we can expect to experience Big Thunder Mountain Railroad again… and it’s happening sooner than you might think! Disney has revealed that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will reopen with new magic and the shine and polish of an all-over refurbishment in early May! While an exact reopening date has still not been announced, we’re thrilled to know that we won’t have to wait all summer to experience this ride once again. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Disney has called this a “mountain-top to cavern-deep refurbishment,” which is a pretty clear signal that something significant is happening here, and it’s honestly one of the more notable ride closures we’ve seen at Disney World in quite some time. One of the most exciting additions involves the underground portion of the ride. When the trains make their way into the caverns, guests are going to encounter phosphorescent pools along with shimmering, illuminated stalagmites and stalactites — like the former Rainbow Caverns at Disneyland. ©Disney The backstory of Big Thunder is also getting more of a spotlight. The lore centers on Barnabas T. Bullion, who struck gold in the Big Thunder region during the early days of America’s first gold rush and founded the Big Thunder Mountain Company. ©Disney His ambitions, however, were no match for the mountain itself. Machines broke down, mines caved in, and no matter how relentlessly the miners dug, the forces of Big Thunder fought back. That’s the world guests are riding through, and it sounds like the refurbishment is going to make sure every inch of the experience reflects that story in a way it hasn’t before. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad We’ll be on the lookout for an official opening date for Big Thunder, but in the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Alright, I’ll admit it. I lost my MagicBand+ charger. Look, I have a lot of cords and cables to keep track of, and they all look the same. I’m a writer, not an IT expert. But I had a trip to Disney World planned, and it didn’t hit me until I started packing (the night before I left…don’t judge me) that my MagicBand charger was missing, therefore making my MagicBand+ (basically) useless. MagicBand+ But then I thought to myself, “No biggie! I’ll just buy another charger when I get to Disney World.” Oh boy, was I wrong. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. While MagicBands aren’t required for a Disney vacation, they make life a lot easier. It’s easier to get into your hotel room, easier to redeem your Lightning Lanes, and easier to enter the parks with one of these on your wrist. I’ll admit, by the end of the day, I’m ready to rip that thing off my wrist, but still, I can’t deny the convenience. MagicBands! The new MagicBands are called MagicBand+ because they have some extra features compared to the older designs. They light up, sync to attractions and fireworks shows, and interact with decorations in the parks. They’re also pretty expensive — we’re talking $35–$70. So, this isn’t really the type of souvenir I need ten variations of; I’m good with just one. MagicBand+ That brings us back to my predicament: the missing MagicBand+ charger. My MagicBand came with a cable when I first bought it, so I assumed the charging cords were also sold separately. WRONG. Star Wars R2-D2 Magicband+ I visited TONS of Disney gift shops all over Disney World — hotel gift shops, mega-stores like World of Disney and the Emporium, and even those little stores you hit when you exit a ride. Nada. Not a single MagicBand charger in sight! Star Wars Resistance Magicband+ Finally, I consulted a Cast Member. Where are all the MagicBand+ chargers? After a bit of stock searching on her iPad, she concluded that Disney no longer sells MagicBand+ chargers separately. WHAT?! Well, you know what that means. Time to go to Amazon. I got myself a new cord and a MultiCharger for MagicBand+ and vowed NOT to lose my new cord EVER AGAIN! Disney does NOT have your back if you come unprepared. When you’re headed to Disney World, there are A LOT of different bags on the market you can bring. Or, perhaps, you’re just wanting to grab one you’ve already got at home, since you’ve already spent so much money on the vacation itself. ODODOS Daily Sling Bag We’ve tried out tons of different bags in the parks, and keep our eyes peeled to see what other guests around Disney World are using as well. What we’ve noticed is that there’s a big group of people who prefer to use crossbody bags, and another group that feels backpacks are the only way to go. So, which is better? We’ve done our research and asked our team of experts what they think, and their answers? Well, it may not be what you think! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Loungefly Backpacks Fantasia Convertible Loungefly Backpack & Tote Crossbody Bag When it comes to using a backpack in Disney World, there are two major ways we see people go, and the first is using mini Loungefly backpacks around the park. Bags like the Fantasia Convertible Loungefly Backpack & Tote Crossbody Bag are very useful, because you can wear them in numerous ways, but the traditional Loungefly bags are mini backpacks. That means you’ve got two straps that go over your shoulders, some of them have water bottle pockets (which are a HUGE plus and very necessary), but there’s one big caveat — they leave a MASSIVE back sweat stain on your shirt during those warmer seasons. The back of the bag For many guests, that doesn’t matter, because having more space in their backpack, plus those water bottle pockets (or just space to put it inside), is more important. Now, we wouldn’t say that Loungefly bags are great for those who are attempting to bring necessities for the whole family, because there’s usually not *that* much space. However, if you yourself know you bring some more medication than normal with you, your portable chargers are bigger than most, or you’re looking to carry items for yourself and perhaps one other person. We can see why many people think they’re a little cumbersome, but with so many cute Loungefly designs out there, we also understand wanting to show off the ones you own in the parks! Check it out here! Larger Backpacks ©Amazon Now, some of our team members like to head into the parks to write from the resort, and that often means it’s essential to bring a laptop, as well as some more chargers than normal. In that case, they carry a larger backpack, such as the Fjallraven Kanken, and we know lots of families use this too! A backpack this size is especially helpful if you need to carry around lots of snacks for yourself or kiddos to save money, wet wipes, additional tech, or games for yourself or your family to stay entertained in long lines. If it’s more important for you to truly have all you need in a bag that easily fits it all, versus having a smaller bag and wishing you had items with you, this is the way to go. Check it out here! Sling Bags/Crossbodies ODODOS Daily Sling Bag Want something smaller, that won’t make you sweat obscenely, and is stylish? A crossbody bag like the ODODOS Sling Bag is a fantastic way to go. This one has tons of pockets to fit our essentials without it being too large and hard to close, but there’s no water bottle holder, which is a big negative for some people. However, if you grab a carabiner, you can attach it to the bag fairly easily, so that’s something to keep in mind. Easy to organize! We find crossbodies, especially slightly larger ones, easy to organize with what we need, so we’re not struggling to find our cards in line, our sunscreen to reapply, or a wet wipe to wipe down our table. Again, if you know you’re traveling as a family and you need to carry around lots of essentials for everyone, this isn’t going to be the best fit, but if it’s just you or everyone has their own bag, this is a style to consider. For myself, I used to use a backpack a few years ago, and now, I stick with one sling bag that works well for me! Check it out here! Honorary Mention: Belt Bags ©Amazon A member of our team made a good point about crossbody bags, saying that, as you walk and move, it’ll make your way to your back eventually, potentially resulting in some back sweat of its own, which is why Belt Bags are also a good style to consider. These are really the best if you know you don’t need to bring a lot with you into the parks, or you’re wearing an outfit that has plenty of pockets to help out with storage. These are especially great for Universal, as anything larger than a belt bag isn’t allowed on most rides. There are lockers available, and most of them are free as long as you have a small bag that fits in them (larger lockers do cost extra), but if you’ve got a belt bag, that’s an additional step you don’t have to take! Check it out here! We’re here to help you plan the absolute best Orlando vacation you can, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest news, updates, tips, and everything in between! Doesn’t it feel like The Muppets are popping up everywhere?! The Muppets Easter Egg display! We recently went to Disney’s Contemporary Resort and saw its new Easter Egg display of The Muppets. Of course, we had to take a bunch of photos and share them with you. You’re going to love this! We stepped into the Contemporary Resort to check out this new Easter egg display featuring The Muppets, and it was filled with different iconic characters decorated in great detail. Look at the Easter egg of Animal! Animal Easter Egg Dr. Bunsen was also there in Easter egg form. He looked really cute in his little lab coat, tie, and glasses. They did really well on the details for Dr. Bunsen! Dr. Bunsen Easter Egg Out of all the Muppets there, Fozzie looked the most like an actual Easter egg. Probably because of his head shape and lack of hair. Again, this one was incredibly detailed! Fozzie Bear Easter Egg There was also this Statler and Waldorf Easter egg. Of course, they were sitting in their iconic spot. These guys probably had the most detail! They were impressive, but then again, everything here was! Statler and Waldorf Easter Eggs There was a sign that went along with the display of Statler and Waldorf. Sign on the back! Even if you’re used to walking around for hours at a time every day, there is something different about a trip to Disney World. Maybe it’s carrying theheavy backpack with everyone’s water bottles and souvenirs in it, or the bright, humid, Florida weather, but more likely than not, your feet are going to hurt at the end of your trip — especially if you choose the wrong shoes. On Cloudswift Sneakers When we’re looking for what shoes to wear to the parks, we try to find ones with the right amount of cushion and support, but also breathable and lightweight to handle all the different hard grounds throughout the parks. We pulled a few of our favorites that are on sale, so you can find the perfect shoe to wear to Disney World, because trust us, if your feet hurt, your whole vacation, you’re not going to have a good time. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Brooks Women’s Glycerin 22 ©Amazon Coming in at 30% off, these shoes provide maximum cushioning with every step. They’re great for road running, which makes it perfect for Disney World since it’s almost all cement with different textures. There are larger cells in the heel to provide soft and plush landings, with smaller cells in the forefoot for pushing off with your toes. SHOP NOW On Women’s Cloudswift On Cloudswift Sneakers These are 11% off and are specifically designed for hard surfaces. They have the Helion Superfoam with supportive side panels for plenty of cushioning, but also a responsive push while walking. We love the mesh design to help keep our feet cooler during the super hot Florida summers (which is basically all the time). SHOP NOW Brooks Women’s Launch 11 ©Amazon We keep going back to Brooks because our team really loves them that much. These are 17% off and super lightweight and breathable. They’re great for smooth transitions, so when you’re walking on different ground textures, like the bumpy feeling in Galaxy’s Edge to the smoother streets on Hollywood Boulevard, the shoes provide the enhanced traction you need, even in the rain. SHOP NOW New Balance Women’s Fresh Foam ©Amazon You can never go wrong with the classic New Balance. This pair is 14% off and is designed to provide midsole cushioning paired with a lightweight ride. It’s made of synthetic material and breathable mesh (again, you will be thanking yourself when you realize how hot and humid Orlando really is), and they have an extra lace hole up top so you can tighten them to your liking. SHOP NOW New Balance Men’s Fresh Foam ©Amazon For another New Balance option, these are 38% off, and only $50! It has an integrated rubber outsole for enhanced underfoot comfort in every step and uses renewable resources to bring ultra-cushioned support and reduce New Balance’s carbon footprint. It also features a no-sew construction for a sleek fit and feel. Just keep in mind that these are sometimes returned for being too tight, so you might want to go up in size. SHOP NOW Picking shoes for Disney World is no joke, so you’ll want to make sure you find the right pair to keep you comfortable for your whole vacation. We hope you’re not tired of Disney’s live-action remakes of animated movies. We know that there are a lot of complaints about the live-action movies, and they’ve sometimes been big flops (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, we’re looking at you), but sometimes Disney gets it JUST right (I will argue that the live-action Cinderella is even better than the animated film). ©Disneyland So we’ve been cautiously optimistic about a live-action Tangled movie, especially now that we know who has been cast as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. However, maybe one of the most IMPORTANT roles in the movie may just be the villain, Mother Gothel. Well, the Internet KNEW who it wanted for the role, and it seems that the Internet just got its way: Kathryn Hahn is now confirmed as the live-action Tangled film’s villain! The official Disney account responded to the video with the comment, “We are all tangled up in excitement!” while D23 commented, “Mother has arrived.” Even the Disney on Broadway Instagram account commented, writing, “Mother knows best.” Hahn joins Teagan Croft, who will play Rapunzel, and Milo Manheim, who will portray Flynn Rider. Call it a spidey sense, but we can feel a new popcorn bucket when it drops in Disney Parks. Pooh Bear! While only Disneyland was supposed to be getting a new Easter-themed popcorn bucket release today, with Disney World’s release date not being announced, they decided to bring a new bucket to both coasts. Wait till you see this brand-new popcorn bucket — it involves Piglet popping out of an Easter egg! Eek! Say hello to the Pooh Bear and Piglet Easter Popcorn Bucket! We grabbed him in EPCOT, but it will also be available in Disneyland starting today. It’s likely this bucket will come across the other parks, especially Magic Kingdom, so we’re keeping an eye out. Here he is! It costs $25 and is literally so cute. No, really, our whole team is obsessing over how cute it is. His bunny ears are so fun You can store popcorn in the back, and we love all the details. Pooh Bear is wearing his bunny ears, and Piglet is jumping out of the Easter egg on the front. You can make it so he’s either covered by the egg or jumping out so it’s inereactive, too. Popcorn stash The strap has fun, Winnie the Pooh-themed details with butterflies, flowers, and Easter eggs. It’s a really good size, too. It seems to hold a lot! It costs $25 We are so happy we were able to grab Pooh and add him to our collection, and it’s so much better that Piglet is included, too. The Disney Parks are never stagnant, and some sort of change is always ongoing. Unfortunately, those changes often include the temporary (and permanent) closures of popular rides. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster If you’re planning a Disney trip in 2026, you need to be aware that BOTH the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort are going to see a bunch of closures. Between refurbishments, re-themes, seasonal overlays, and a few permanent closures tied to major expansions, several rides across Disney World and the Disneyland Resort will impact your 2026 vacation. Now, before you panic, keep in mind that most of these closures are happening because Disney is upgrading rides, preparing seasonal overlays, or building entirely new lands. Still, if one of these attractions is on your must-ride list, you’ll want to keep an eye on the timeline. Here are the Disney rides that will be closed in 2026 and maybe beyond… Disney’s Animal Kingdom DINOSAUR Let’s start with the big one. The classic DINOSAUR ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom PERMANENTLY closed on February 2nd, 2026. DINOSAUR is gone, y’all This closure, along with the other attractions, restaurants, and shops in DinoLand U.S.A, is part of Disney’s massive transformation of the area into a brand-new Tropical Americas-themed land. When the dust settles, the DINOSAUR ride building will eventually house a new Indiana Jones-themed attraction unique to Disney World, but maintaining a similar ride structure and ride vehicles. It’s expected to open around 2027. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Another huge retheme is coming to Hollywood Studios’ Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, although this one will see the ride eventually reopen. ©Disney The ride officially closed on March 1st, 2026, to drop the Aersomith theming in favor of a new story and theming based on The Muppets. It’s slated to reopen featuring The Muppets later this summer. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster construction Get ready to meet the famous Electric Mayhem band in an experience that’s similar to the previous coaster — albeit with a new story, music, and scenes. Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad If you’ve visited Magic Kingdom recently, you may have noticed construction walls around Frontierland. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been closed since January 2025 for a major refurbishment, but it’s now slated to reopen sometime this spring. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad The refurbishment will include a fully rebuilt track, updated water and lighting effects, and a brand-new scene featuring the classic Rainbow Caverns. ©Disney This ride should open with some significant upgrades that we can’t wait to experience! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed on August 4th, 2025, and is set to reopen this spring, as well. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is currently closed The update will reportedly include new ride vehicles, updated blasters, targets that light up when you hit them, and a brand-new scene and character. ©Disney These changes are primed to elevate this classic arcade shooter ride into something way more immersive and modern. Disneyland Park Sailing Ship Columbia Over on the West Coast, a popular slow-moving boat ride along the Rivers of America will be closed on select days. Sailing Ship Columbia The Sailing Ship Columbia will be closed Mondays to Fridays through March 27th, 2026. You can still access the Mark Twain Riverboat during this time. Jungle Cruise The world-famous Jungle Cruise has been closed in Adventureland since February 17th, 2026 — and no reopening date has yet to be announced. Jungle Cruise construction The refurb calendar has this beloved jungle adventure with plenty of hilarious antics closed through March. Jungle Cruise Work on the ride includes structural repairs, fresh paint in the queue, and potential updates to scenes — so this could be a hefty closure. Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes Similar to the Sailing Ship Columbia, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes will also be closed Mondays to Thursdays through March 27th, 2026. Rivers of America You’ll need to visit on Fridays and the weekends through March if this is a must-do attraction for you and your family. Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin Over in Toontown, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin is closing for a possibly lengthy refurbishment on March 30th, 2026. Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin No official reopening date has been revealed yet, and we don’t know what changes or upgrades will be made either. The ride previously underwent a significant refurbishment from March 2022 to March 2023 — one that saw the ride’s narrative change to include Jessica Rabbit as a private eye. Disneyland Monorail Also closing on March 30th is the Disneyland Monorail. Disneyland Monorail A reopening date has yet to be announced, but we’re speculating that the cause for closure is some structural maintenance. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Tomorrowland is temporarily losing a super-popular ride on April 13th. Astro Blasters Like its Magic Kingdom counterpart, Astro Blasters will be closed for a refurbishment fairly soon. While a reopening date has not been announced just yet, there has been no indication that the scope of changes will be as significant as what’s going on in Florida’s version. We’ll let you know about any changes (if any) that are announced. Disney California Adventure Grizzly River Run California Adventure’s Grizzly River Run often undergoes significant refurbishments in the winter months, but this one is dragging out. Grizzly River Run The water ride has been closed since January 5th, 2026, and the river has largely been drained, with notable construction during that time. We expect it to reopen by the time spring/early summer rolls around, however. Golden Zephyr The family-friendly Golden Zephyr ride is undergoing a short refurbishment this March. ©Disney The ride will be briefly out of commission between March 9th and March 17th, 2026. Toy Story Midway Mania! Over in Pixar Pier, the always-in-demand Toy Story Midway Mania will be closed for a refurbishment beginning April 6th, 2026. Mr. Potato Head celebrates 7 Decades in Toy Story Midway Mania The ride does not currently have a reopening date, but it would be weird if it’s not back open by the time Toy Story 5 opens in theaters this June. Midway Mania In fact, we wouldn’t be all too surprised to see elements from the movie show up in the ride once it reopens — although nothing official has been announced. It looks better with 3D glasses on… Of course, there will also be seasonal overlays that cause brief closures that have yet to be announced. Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion gets The Nightmare Before Christmas-themed Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay usually in August, and “it’s a small world” usually gets a Christmas-themed overlay closer to the holidays. Over in Magic Kingdom, Jungle Cruise turns into the Jingle Cruise in time for the holidays and usually closes briefly in November. Jack in Haunted Mansion Holiday Over at Disney California Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT! turns into Monsters After Dark during Halloween Time, and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters becomes Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween during the same time. Luigi’s also gets the Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl overlay during the holidays. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree also joins the fun with Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree for Halloween and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree for the holiday season. Each transition can require short refurbishment closure — but keep in mind that we’re still too early in the year for any official dates. Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark This list only includes what we know so far, and there’s still SO MUCH LEFT of 2026 that future closures are bound to happen. This list will be updated throughout the year, and we’ll continue to keep you posted on all the latest Disney news, so continue to follow us right here at DFB to stay in the know! With an impressive portfolio of 151 total Academy Awards as of 2025 (with 32 wins from Walt Disney himself!), Disney’s storytelling has helped shape cinematic history and pop culture as a whole. For many fans, these stories live beyond the screen, brought to life through classic attractions, delicious dining, outstanding entertainment, and so much more across Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Maura and Peyton from Disney Parks Blog have tracked down some of the must-see spots where Oscar-winning Disney films come to life in the parks. Trust us, you’ll want to add these to your next visit. Let’s dive into their picks for the most magical silver-screen-to-theme-park transformations. Mary Poppins (1964) With phenomenal effects, an incredible cast, gorgeous costumes, and a soaring score by the Sherman Brothers, Mary Poppins remains one of the most joyous and impressive works in the Disney catalogue. A can’t-miss spot to grab a bite at Disneyland park is Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, a quick-service restaurant inspired by the film. Here on Main Street U.S.A., you’ll find charming nods to the movie like colorful stained-glass windows depicting playful penguins, objects such as a tea set and miniature carousel, and lyrics from some of the most classic songs. You can also enjoy plenty of practically perfect sweets and snacks such as the Raspberry Rose Mickey Macaron, croissants, cinnamon rolls, and the Beef Birria Toasted Cheese (a beloved item for good reason). Took home the Academy Awards in 1964 for: Actress: Julie Andrews Song: “Chim-Chim Cheree” by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman Musical Score, Original: by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman Film Editing: Cotton Warburton Special Visual Effects: Peter Ellenshaw, Hamilton Luske, and Eustace Lycett Special Technical Award to Petro Vlahos, Wadsworth Pohl, and Ub Iwerks for conception and perfection of techniques of color traveling matte composite cinematography The Little Mermaid (1989) You don’t have to journey far under the sea to feel like part of Ariel’s world – this princess is popping up in different places across Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, allowing you to dive right into her colorful, cheerful story. If you’re visiting Walt Disney World, be dazzled and delighted by the new stage show “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or you can venture to Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom Park for a relaxing ride on Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid. At Disney California Adventure Park, board your clam-mobile and set off on an adventure full of magical moments with a soundtrack of music we all know and love on The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. Took home the Academy Awards in 1989 for: Original Score: Alan Menken Best Song: “Under the Sea”; Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman Beauty and the Beast (1991) Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Beauty and the Beast is Maura’s favorite Disney movie, and the film feels present in so many ways throughout Disney Parks. Belle, the Beast, and those iconic enchanted objects grace everything from food and beverage spots to entertainment offerings. At Disneyland park, enjoy a quick meal at Red Rose Taverne, snack on a Garlic Cheesy Pretzel Bread (also Maura’s favorite snack, how fitting) from the Maurice’s Treats cart, and sit for a showing of silly scenes onstage during Storytelling at Royal Theatre. Across the country at Walt Disney World, enter the enchanted castle for an elegant dining experience at Be Our Guest Restaurant or grab a bite from Gaston’s Tavern (we suggest the Crème Brûlée Croissant and LeFou’s Brew) at Magic Kingdom Park. You can even see this timeless story come to life in “Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Took home the Academy Awards in 1991 for: Original Score: Alan Menken Best Song: “Beauty and the Beast”; Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman Did You Know? Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film to ever be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, before the Best Animated Feature category even existed. Finding Nemo (2003) An instant classic full of legendary quotes and iconic scenes, Pixar Animation Studios’ Finding Nemo has had a major profile at Disney Parks since the original film was released in 2003. At Disneyland park, climb down into a yellow research submarine on an adventure to find the beloved clown fish on Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, or have a totally awesome conversation with Crush the sea turtle at Turtle Talk with Crush at Disney California Adventure park. In our itinerary, no trip to Disney World is quite complete without going under the sea (and no, you will not get wet) and descending slowly below the waves on The Seas with Nemo and Friends in World Nature at EPCOT. Once you have helped Marlin and Dory find Nemo, you’ll step out of your ride vehicle right into an ocean of fun at SeaBase Aquarium. Here, you can view ocean life — including clown fish, manatees, and sharks — in a massive 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium. For a sit-down show filled with puppets, singers, and other performers on your next trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, see “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!” This live show is set in the underwater world of the film and includes fan favorite songs such as “In the Big Blue World” and “Go with the Flow.” Took home the Academy Award in 2003 for: Best Animated Feature: Andrew Stanton, director The Incredibles (2004) Pixar’s The Incredibles is a thrill-ride from start to finish, and there’s a reason that Brad Bird’s original film was able to take home two Oscars at the 77th Academy Awards, inspire a sequel, and kick off over two decades of fandom. The heroic family is featured in the Incredicoaster at the Disneyland Resort. At this Disney California Adventure park attraction, you join the Incredibles in a mad dash to catch Jack-Jack as he wreaks havoc during an exhilarating ride around Pixar Pier. With enclosed tunnels, special effects, and a musical score by composer Michael Giacchino, this high-speed roller coaster features familiar faces and Disneyland’s only “loop.” If you’re ready to cool down after a sunny day at California Adventure, you may also book a stay at the new Incredibles Suite at Pixar Place Hotel for a perfect family getaway. The suite includes a hand-scanning prop at the entryway, a spy phone, hidden messages, a secret door, and other surprises that surround you in the “spy-fi” suspense of the film. Took home the Academy Award in 2004 for: Best Animated Feature: Brad Bird, writer-director Best Sound Editing: Randy Thom, Michael Silvers Ratatouille (2007) From the moment it hit theaters in 2007, Disney and Pixar’s Ratatouille became a film beloved particularly by foodies and culinary enthusiasts, with all the ingredients for a truly delicious movie. Remy’s dreams of moving to Paris and proving his skills in the kitchen made for a heartwarming and relatable story, and the way food is depicted onscreen is truly mouthwatering. For the cherry on top of your day at Walt Disney World, visit the France pavilion at EPCOT, home to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. This attraction makes you feel Remy-sized as you dart and dash through the chaotic kitchen of Gusteau’s famous Paris restaurant – so keep your eyes peeled for danger! It’s basically like being immersed in an episode of FX’s The Bear. Took home the Academy Award in 2007 for: Best Animated Feature: Brad Bird, director Toy Story 3 (2010) The world of Toy Story has been a staple at Disney Parks since the original film debuted in 1995 (and yes, it’s still Peyton’s favorite Pixar movie). Over the years, you may recall family photos with Buzz Lightyear, marching green army soldiers, or special snacks ready to be devoured (like the new Pizza Planet spring rolls in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios). Yet Toy Story 3 remains the most decorated film of the franchise at the Oscars, taking home two trophies and even a nomination for Best Picture at the 83rd Academy Awards. So, how can I find my favorite Toy Story pals at Disney Parks? Disneyland Resort features three attractions inspired by the fan-favorite franchise: a thrilling, competitive space battle on Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters at Disneyland park, a midway-style game on Toy Story Midway Mania! at Disney California Adventure park, and a rootin’, tootin’ ride around a giant toy carousel on Jessie’s Critter Carousel, also at California Adventure. Meanwhile, Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios shrinks you to the size of a toy and surrounds you with dynamic options to eat (Woody’s Lunch Box and Roundup Rodeo BBQ) and play. Slinky Dog Dash is a great pick for many thrill-seeking families as you twist and turn past giant toys in Andy’s oversized backyard, while Toy Story Mania! and Alien Swirling Saucers are both great for little ones looking to spot beloved characters. Took home the Academy Award in 2010 for: Best Animated Feature: Lee Unkrich, director Best Song: “We Belong Together,” music and lyrics by Randy Newman Did You Know? Toy Story was also presented a Special Achievement Oscar in 1995 for “the development and inspired application of techniques that have made possible the first feature-length computer-animated film.” Frozen (2013) Disney Animation’s Frozen created quite the flurry when the film first released in 2013, with unforgettable songs, stunning animation, and a special sisterly bond at the center of the story. Since its release, the film received a sequel (with two more movies on the way), a stage show on Broadway, and eventually settled in Disney Parks around the world. At EPCOT’s Norway pavilion in Walt Disney World, embark on a daring voyage aboard an ancient Nordic vessel on Frozen Ever After, where you’ll take in the scenic sights throughout Troll Valley, the North Mountain, and the kingdom of Arendelle. Along the way, you’ll spot familiar friends Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff in the form of breathtaking newly-updated Audio-Animatronics figures. And at California Adventure park, Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome is the perfect place to greet these snow-loving sisters, straight from their enchanted kingdom of Arendelle. Took home the Academy Awards in 2013 for: Best Animated Feature: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee, Peter Del Vecho Best Original Song: “Let It Go,” music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez Big Hero 6 (2014) Set inside the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo, Disney Animation’s Big Hero 6 immediately wowed audiences around the world with its heart, humor, and comic-book-style action when it first hit theaters in November 2014. At San Fransokyo Square in Disney California Adventure park, you can discover a vibrant neighborhood of eateries and businesses. You may also encounter Baymax here! Looking to snack on a delicious Baymax macaron? Lucky Fortune Cookery has you covered. Ready to enjoy a savory soup inside a freshly baked bread bowl? Check out some hearty options at Aunt Cass Café. With delightful beverages and bites, sprinkled throughout San Fransokyo Square, it’s a must stop on your next California Adventure itinerary. Took home the Academy Award in 2014 for: Best Animated Feature: Don Hall, Chris Williams, Roy Conli Inside Out (2015) Inspired by Pixar’s Inside Out, the Best Animated Feature winner from the 88th Academy Awards, step into the workplace of Riley’s Emotions at California Adventure with Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. This sense-sational, family-friendly spin in the sky will have you filled with joy as you ascend in unison in one of eight Memory Movers. Right after, keep moving throughout Pixar Pier to pick up a spicy, all-beef hot dog from Angry Dogs and a Rainbow Unicorn frozen refresher from Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff. And speaking of Bing Bong, where might you find your beloved friend who likes to play? The part-cat, part-elephant, part-dolphin imaginary friend from Inside Out may be found greeting guests and making more core memories at Pixar Place Hotel, so be sure to swing by and take a picture that will last a lifetime. Took home the Academy Award in 2015 for: Best Animated Feature: Pete Docter, director As we roll out the red carpet for Hollywood’s biggest night, it’s the perfect time to celebrate so many beloved worlds and characters that have journeyed from the silver screen to Disney Parks. These show-stopping bites, attractions, and entertainment offerings are a reminder that the magic and power of great storytelling don’t end when the credits roll – it takes on new life in a distinctly Disney way. Any visit to Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort allows you to step into your favorite films, with even more Academy Award-winning titles like Coco (2017) and Encanto (2021) serving as inspiration for new attractions as we prepare for exciting upcoming developments across our parks and resorts. The 98th Oscars will take place at the renowned Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 15. You can watch the ceremony on ABC and streaming on Hulu beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT – see you at the show! We’re on Disney’s newest cruise ship, trying all of the food! The Disney Adventure has over 20 restaurants, with most of them being brand-new, which means we have to eat — a lot! Gramma Tala’s Kitchen Gramma Tala’s Kitchen is a new restaurant exclusively on the Disney Adventure. This Pacific and Asian restaurant is themed after Gramma Tala from Moana. Now let’s dive in! Like we mentioned, this restaurant is themed after Gramma Tala from Moana. So, you’ll find all sorts of details and nods to the beloved Disney film. Pictures! There were framed pictures up and around the dining spot. It’s Gramma Tala! There was also a painting of Moana and her friends setting sail, from Moana 2. All in all, the space was really cute! Moana! There is lots of seating inside the restaurant, and the interior is beautiful. From the colors to the designs, to the details, we couldn’t stop looking around Gramma Tala’s Kitchen! Seating There is also seating outside, if you want to get views of the Imagination Garden on the cruise. This is a full-on restaurant, so we needed a dining reservation to come here. We had to book it in the Navigator app. Yes, it was still a part of the included accommodations, but we did need to reserve and scan our Key to the World card when we got there. They did turn people away who did NOT have a reservation, so that’s something to keep in mind. More seating! When it came time to order, this restaurant is actually a build-your-own-bowl situation. There is a menu up on the wall to see all the options you can get when building your own bowl or platter. We ended up getting the Fragrant Chicken Rice, Black Pepper Beef, Stir-fried Chinese Broccoli, Soy-glazed Yams, and Sichuan-Braised Tofu. Build your own bowl! Let’s start with the chicken rice, which was SO good. It was called the Fragrant Chicken Rice, and it really was. It was cooked to perfection — not too much and not too little. The chicken flavor was nice, savory, and apparent — making it more interesting than plain rice. Build-your-own The Black Pepper Beef was cooked well! It was moist and tender, with well-cooked onions and peppers. The beef was peppery, so they weren’t joking with the name. This bowl was delicious! The garlic broccoli was pretty good, but it felt pretty plain. There wasn’t enough garlic on this; it was more of an earthy broccoli flavor. It wasn’t bad, just needed a little more to it! The broccoli was a little plain The Soy-Glazed Yams surprised us the most. They were sweet and almost sesame flavored. The soy was great, and the yams were cooked very well. It was kind of like small potato bites, with a slightly firmer texture. We can’t get enough! The tofu was also nice. It was still chewy, and we could’ve used a little more crunch, other than the crunch on the edges. The flavor wasn’t very present for these, unfortunately. We probably would’ve liked it more if it weren’t as chewy! The tofu was ok We loved the food at Gramma Tala’s Kitchen, and we highly recommend it for anyone on the Disney Adventure.
