With all the new Halloween character cavalcades in Disney World kicking off this week, we’ve returned to the parks time and time again to catch a glimpse of our favorite ‘Halloween’ characters! But on our most recent trip, Mother Nature had other plans, which meant we got to check out what happens when it RAINS on the Halloween cavalcades! Halloween Decorations at Magic Kingdom While the weather in Disney World doesn’t always tend to cooperate with us, rainy days can lead to extra bits of magic you perhaps weren’t expecting! And like we always say, a rainy day at Disney World is better than a sunny day anywhere else! While Disney tends to have a Rainy Day Cavalcade ready to go in the case of inclement weather, we got to see what its “spooky” counterpart looks like today! The Rainy Day Halloween Cavalcade is led by the same team of attendees, suited up in their rain jackets, boots, and hats, pretty appropriate for the weather! Even the rainiest of days can’t wipe the smiles from our faces! Rainy Day Halloween Cavalcade The Rainy Day Halloween Cavalcade is accompanied by the traditional Rainy Day Cast Members. Unfortunately, there were no gravediggers or pirates to be seen here! Rainy Day Halloween Cavalcade Another similarity is that the Rainy Day Halloween Cavalcade uses the same double-decker bus that we’ve seen in the other rainy day cavalcades. It’s just too darn cute to see these characters catching a ride on a Main Street vehicle! Rainy Day Halloween Cavalcade Mickey can be spotted sitting up at the front of the bus waving to guests in his adorable vampire costume! Rainy Day Halloween Cavalcade Daisy and Pluto are seated on the top level, while Minnie and Donald are seated on the bottom level. The characters face different directions so everyone along the cavalcade route gets to wave “hello!” Rainy Day Halloween Cavalcade Like Mickey, all of the characters can be seen dressed in their Halloween best! Rainy Day Halloween Cavalcade The music playing is the traditional Rainy Day Cavalcade music, and not “Boo to You” as we’ve heard in Mickey’s Happy Halloween Cavalcade. Who doesn’t love the many flavors of fall? From pumpkin spice to cinnamon to candy corn flavors, this time of year always has a special place with our taste buds! Halloween Drinks at Gasparilla Island Grill We even like fall-flavored drinks! So we decided to try out the three NEW Halloween exclusive drinks (which we recently spotted on Mobile Order) at Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! The first drink we tried was the Take A Chance. This one is a mix of Granny Smith Apple flavors and Sprite. This is VERY similar to the Spooky Apple Punch we tried at Isle of Java in Animal Kingdom, but without the fun rock candy and gummy worms (boo!). But we did find it pretty refreshing and not overly sweet. Take A Chance Drink at Gasparilla Island Grill The next drink we took a sip of was the Shadow of the Moon. Yes, it looks exactly like the Take A Chance (okay, maybe it’s a little darker green). This one is mixed with Granny Smith Apple flavors, salted caramel, cinnamon, and Sprite. It’s supposed to taste like a green candy apple (and we love Disney World candy apples), but we mostly thought it tasted like a slightly less sweet version of the Take A Chance. Shadow of the Moon Drink at Gasparilla Island Grill The third drink we tried was the Spiced Fall Apple. This one is Minute Maid apple juice and ginger beer mixed with cinnamon and salted caramel. The ginger beer made us think this tasted like a non-alcoholic Moscow Mule, so we approve! Spiced Fall Apple Drink at Gasparilla Island Grill All three drinks were very refreshing and perfect for a hot Florida day. And as these are non-alcoholic, the kiddies can enjoy them, too! Earlier today, we snacked on the truly surprising Fall Flavors Cupcake at Gasparilla Island Grill. Fall Flavors Cupcake From Gasparilla Island Grill But it wasn’t the only item we tried at this counter service spot in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Because we simply couldn’t resist grabbing a treat inspired by a favorite park snack… the CHURRO! That’s right! Just last week, our friends at Gasparilla started serving up a Churro Éclair… which, we were informed, is a returning treat that’s back by popular demand. Churro Eclair The Churro Éclair takes that classic éclair pastry, and fills it with a cinnamon mousse for a flavor that resembles that famous fried dough rolled in cinnamon and sugar! This snack-within-a-snack is all topped with white chocolate. Churro Eclair Now, we should note: the Churro Éclair is officially described as having “crunchy churro pieces,” but if they were present, the churro bits were super tiny, as we pretty much just picked up on the cinnamon mousse in the texture. Churro Eclair But if you like LOTS OF CINNAMON, then this is the snack for you! Seriously, it’s for cinnamon fans only. There is no shortage of the spice in the cinnamon mousse. The éclair itself (served split, as opposed to wrapping the filling) was nice, fresh, and light… so much so, in fact, that we were almost worried it wasn’t going to be able to withstand the generous amount of filling. Churro Eclair Ultimately, though, it did the job! The Churro Éclair is $5.49. Of the two new snacks we tried, our preference falls with the Fall Flavors Cupcake, and you can find out why here! It has now been over six months since the Disneyland Parks closed back in March. Disneyland Gate This week has made for a lot of back and forth when it comes to the reopening of Disneyland. The mayor of Anaheim and Disneyland President both called on California to release guidelines for the theme parks, and Governor Newsom noted guidelines are coming soon. Now, Disneyland is canceling more upcoming trips. Disneyland is currently reaching out to guests with Disneyland Resort hotel reservations through October 3rd to cancel. Guests with impacted reservations may opt to modify or completely cancel their reservations. Disneyland Hotel As a reminder, Disney continues to waive change and cancellation fees for reservations with arrivals through October 3rd. If you’re canceling a trip, make sure to reach out to other companies you may have bookings with separately like any airlines or other rentals. To cancel or modify your reservation, you can call the Walt Disney Travel Company at (714) 520-5050 between 7AM and 9PM PT. If you booked your trip through a travel agency, reach out to your travel professional to cancel or modify. “Who’s afraid of The Big Bad Wold? Tra la la la la!” Disney Villains Cavalcade As you might have heard, the Halloween season is in full swing in Disney World! We’ve had a blast this week checking out the NEW Halloween Cavalcades in Magic Kingdom — especially the spooky Disney Villains Cavalcade. Well, it seems like these fiendish foes have recruited a NEW villains to their ranks! When we heard the Villains Cavalcade music start up today, we were pretty excited to wave to Hook and cower from Maleficent. What we DIDN’T expect was to see a whole new villainous face. Who’s that walking by? The Big Bad Wolf AGH! It’s The Big Bad Wolf! He’s hairy, he’s scary, AND he’s…dancing? Okay, maybe he’s not so scary after all. The Big Bad Wolf The Big Bad Wolf is a pretty rare character to see out and about in Disney World so we were pumped that we got to see him today. Plus, is there anyone who can rock the one-suspender-and-a-top-hat look like he can? Probably not. The Big Bad Wolf Could this mean we might see even more characters added to the Cavalcade? From a Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream Mac-Tini to a Pumpkin Spice Sundae — we feel like we’ve died and gone to pumpkin heaven! Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream Mac-Tini Well, today we tried another pumpkin flavored treat in Disney World — this time in the form of a coffee drink. Could it possibly beat out the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino? We had to find out! Earlier today, we shared a whole list of special fall items that would be coming to the Disney World resort hotels, Disney Springs, and more to celebrate spooky season. So, we made our way around Disney to taste some of them! One of the stops on our quest was Disney’s Riviera Resort. Disney’s Riviera Resort Once inside the resort, we made our way to Le Petit Café — a quick service spot that is located in the lobby of the hotel. Le Petit Cafe We took a look at the menu to see what new seasonal items were available, and sure enough we spotted a pumpkin flavored treat — the Pumpkin Glacé. Le Petit Cafe Menu This drink is a frozen blend of cold brew coffee, their house-made pumpkin purée, and fall spices topped with cinnamon whipped cream and caramel crisp pearls. Pumpkin Glacé We took one sip of this drink and realized…Oh.My.Gourd. This drink is INCREDIBLY GOOD! Pumpkin Glacé It was blended really well and essentially tasted like a dessert in a cup! But, how does it compare to something like a Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino from Starbucks? At least in our opinion, this drink is SO much better. Pumpkin Glacé You could really taste the difference in flavor because this drink features home-made pumpkin purée, as opposed to just a pumpkin flavored syrup. Today, Tokyo Disneyland announced that new attractions, restaurants, and shops will open on September 28 marking the largest expansion of the Park’s history. This large-scale development will stretch across Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Toontown – three of the seven themed lands in the Park – transforming into new magical experiences for guests three years after breaking ground. The additions to Fantasyland will bring Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Beauty and the Beast” film to life through the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast attraction, shops and dining locations. In Tomorrowland, guests will experience the brand new The Happy Ride with Baymax attraction inspired by Disney Animation’s Oscar-winning film, “Big Hero 6” and find new delectable delights at The Big Pop, a specialized popcorn shop. Finally, Toontown will offer a new Disney Character greeting experience called Minnie’s Style Studio. A lot of things are happening at Tokyo Disneyland Resort right now! Not only did Tokyo Disneyland recently resume nighttime fireworks and parades, but a new Beauty and the Beast attraction is set to open soon, too! Tokyo Disneyland But another theme park activity is about to make a comeback at Tokyo Disneyland Resort: character meet-and-greets! That’s right! Character meet and greets will resume at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea as of September 19th. The meet and greets will use an “entry request” system, which can be accessed through the Tokyo Disney Resort App. Tokyo Disney Resort Donald Duck At Tokyo Disneyland, guests can meet Mickey Mouse at Mickey’s House & Meet Mickey and Donald Duck at Camp Woodchuck Greeting Trails. At Tokyo DisneySea, guests can meet Duffy at ¡Saludos Amigos! Greeting Dock and Mickey and Minnie Mouse at Mickey & Friends Greeting Trails. Tokyo Disney Resort Pluto After being closed due to the global health crisis, Tokyo Disney Resort reopened in July with specific health and safety guidelines in place. At this time, Disney World is not offering meet and greets. Instead, they are still offering character cavalcades throughout the parks. They just introduced new Halloween-themed cavalcades in Magic Kingdom as well. If you’ve been following along with all the fall fun here on the DFB, then you’ve seen that Disney World is really delivering on some autumn and Halloween treats that are not only tasty, but also totally Instagram-ready. Black Flame Candle Cake from Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs And yet, we’re STILL finding lovely little surprises as even more festive treats continue to hit the scene. And that’s certainly true of the newly arrived Pumpkin Mousse at Disney’s Riviera Resort, which is like a little work of art AND a dessert all in one! You’ll find the Pumpkin Mousse at Le Petit Café, which is located directly off the lobby at Riviera Resort. Pumpkin Mousse at Le Petit Cafe Inside the pastry case, you can’t miss the beautiful orange perfectly-shaped pumpkin complete with decorative chocolate accents (including a dusting of dyed cocoa butter). The sable cookie underneath offers a great bit of crunch, along with a hint of pumpkin spice with a slight emphasis on the ginger, as it was almost reminiscent of a gingerbread cookie. We’ve had many delicious snacks on Disney’s BoardWalk recently. Disney’s BoardWalk If you’re staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, we hope you’ve been taking advantage of all the yummy treats nearby! After you’ve filled up on all your favorite snacks, what’s better than a nice nap by the pool? Well, if you’re headed for a stay at the BoardWalk in October, the pool area may look a bit different while you’re there. Although Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is currently closed and will remain closed until further notice, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas are currently open. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Guests of the BoardWalk Villas can enjoy some relaxing resort time over at Luna Park Pool with that very…unique looking slide. Clown warning for those of you who are NOT the biggest fans of this guy. Even though the design at end of the slide may be quite creepy for some, the slide itself adds a lot of fun to the whole pool experience. Luna Park Pool at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn If you were hoping to catch a ride on this slide in October, however, you may not be able to. This fall, the Keister Coaster waterslide will be undergoing some refurbishment and will be unavailable for a period of time. Specifically, Disney has noted that they expect the waterslide to be unavailable from October 5th to October 30th. But, those dates are subject to change. While the refurbishment is taking place, Luna Park Pool, as well as 2 leisure pools at Disney’s BoardWalk, will remain open. Some of us can’t get enough pumpkin spice in the autumn months. For others, their fall flavor choice is anything apple. Why, they both have chocolate EARS, of course! But only the Candy Corn Minnie Cupcake features a wee little orange icing bow as the final touch. Big Thunder Mountain As you might know, the limited edition monthly series, Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction, has been a hot commodity this year. The recent release is the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad collection, and we’ve been hoping for a chance to buy it online. Now, we surprisingly have a chance to buy in person! We were strolling through Fantasyland this morning when we saw a line coming out of Sir Mickey’s. What’s this!? Could it be!? We asked a Cast Member and, YES, the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad collection had a surprise drop in Magic Kingdom today! Sir Mickey’s Line When we arrived, there was about a 30-minute wait through a virtual queue, so we hopped in line and crossed our fingers that merchandise would be left when we got in. According to a Cast Member, they had everything in stock except for the Loungefly Backpack and the Minnie Plush. It’s been several months since we’ve made our way past these gates, down Main Street, U.S.A., and over to Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland Park. Disneyland Gate Although we’ve seen some changes that indicate we’re closer to Disneyland reopening, no official reopening date has been announced yet. We’ve been keeping an eye on the Disneyland Resort Hotels as well to see when guests can begin booking reservations there. Today, we spotted an update regarding hotel availability…looks like we may not be able to make new reservations at any of the Disneyland Resort Hotels for a little while longer. The availability of reservations at the Disneyland Resort Hotels has changed over the past several months. As of the most recent update (before the change we spotted today) reservations were available beginning October 1st. Disneyland also recently canceled guest reservations at their hotels through September 26th. The Disneyland Hotel But, as we looked at the reservation availability today, we noticed that reservations at the Disneyland Resort Hotels are now only available beginning October 16th. ©Disney When we tried to look for a reservation for a one night stay on October 15th, it said there was no availability.
