It’s not just the parks that get in on the seasonal fun in Disney World! Fall Flavors Cupcake From Gasparilla Island Grill Fall is in full swing in Disney World! We LOVE seeing all of the new treats, character cavalcades, and decor in Magic Kingdom, and we wanted to see what spooky additions have made their way to the surrounding Resorts too! So, without further ado, here are all of the new food and merchandise updates from the Monorail Resorts! What’s New at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Earlier this week, the BouTiki at Disney’s Polynesian Villiage Resort received limited-time ‘Olu Mel merchandise. And when we stopped by again, we noticed that the ‘Olu Mel merchandise was still in stock! ‘Olu Mel Merchandise We also spotted this ‘Olu Mel Luggage Tag, which we didn’t see on our first visit to check out the merch earlier this week. You can snag the luggage tag for $10. ‘Olu Mel Luggage Tag In other merch news, we also saw that there were plenty of the coveted Trader Sam’s Tiki Mugs… Trader Sam’s Tiki Mugs …and Coconut Mugs available! Coconut Mugs We didn’t find many new seasonal snacks since our last visit, but we did spot a brightly colored cocktail! Poisoned Apple If you’re looking for a seasonal drink to enjoy while you’re lounging by the pool at the Poly, the Poisoned Apple is available for $16 at Barefoot Pool Bar! What’s New at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, guests will find several new fall cocktails available at The Wave…of American Flavors. New Drinks at The Wave If you’re looking for a sweet drink, the Witches Brew might be right up your alley! This concoction features a mix of Tito’s Vodka, Blue Curaçao, Sweet and Sour Mix, Grenadine, and Cranberry Juice, topped with Gummy Worms and a Poison Apple Glow Cube. Witch’s Brew If you’re looking for more fall flavors, the Harvest Punch is made with Captain Morgan, Butterscotch Schnapps, Orange Juice, Bitters, and Pumpkin Syrup, and is topped with a Cinnamon Stick and Star Anise. Harvest Punch And finally, the Wild Apple Mule is made with Crown Royal Apple, sparkling apple cider, and ginger beer. Plus, it’s topped with a candied dehydrated apple! What’s New at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa It was snacks galore for us at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort! First, we found a trio of new non-alcoholic drinks at Gasparilla Island Grill. The Take A Chance is a mix of Granny Smith Apple flavors and Sprite. Take A Chance Drink at Gasparilla Island Grill There’s a similar, although slightly less sweet version called Shadow of the Moon made with Granny Smith Apple flavors, salted caramel, cinnamon, and Sprite. Shadow of the Moon Drink at Gasparilla Island Grill And finally, the Spiced Fall Apple is made with Minute Maid apple juice and ginger beer mixed with cinnamon and salted caramel. We’ve seen signs that several bars in Disney World could be close to reopening! Cape Gobbler Even though all of the Disney World parks and select Resort hotels have now reopened, there are still some restaurants and bars across property that remain temporarily closed. And while several locations including Cinderella’s Royal Table and Hollywood & Vine have announced reopening dates for later this month, we also noticed some signs of reopening at a few of Disney World’s bars! Let’s start with Courtyard Pool Bar at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! While the Disney Vacation Club Villas have been available for guest stays since June 22nd, the non-DVC portion of the Resort is scheduled to reopen on Monday, September 21st. Grand Floridian Resort But that’s not what tipped us off to the potential reopening of Courtyard Pool Bar! The “Temporarily Unavailable” note has now been removed for this location on the list of Disney World dining locations. So, while this doesn’t mean the location is opening immediately and there are still no official hours listed for Courtyard Pool Bar, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this spot in the coming days! Courtyard Pool Bar is no longer listed as “Temporarily Unavailable” And we’re SUPER excited about this next location! Located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Dawa Bar has been a long-time favorite spot for us to relax and enjoy the atmosphere — and a drink, of course! Tusker House Restaurant and Dawa Bar Prior to the Park Closure And as with Courtyard Pool Bar, the “Temporarily Unavailable” note has also been removed from Dawa Bar on the list of Disney World dining locations. Dawa Bar is no longer listed as “Temporarily Unavailable” Again, there are no official hours listed for Dawa Bar yet, so this doesn’t mean the location is reopening immediately. BUT, on a recent trip to Animal Kingdom, we spoke with a Cast Member who told us that Dawa Bar is preparing to reopen! We’re back at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World! Candy Corn Minnie Mouse Cupcake! We spotted some cute merch, adorable Disney characters, and some boo-tiful Halloween treats! Come along with us as we recap this magical day! Magic Kingdom Food Update Main Street Confectionary Let’s start with the important stuff…food! Halloween treats are all over Disney World right now. While taking in the Mickey pumpkins, we noticed the Main Street Confectionery is whipping up some gorgeous Halloween cupcakes. Confectionary Halloween Treats There were chocolate and vanilla cupcakes decorated with all sorts of Halloween colors and flair. Halloween Rainy Day Cavalcade It was a blustery day at the Magic Kingdom, but that doesn’t stop the characters from greeting the guests! When the rain starts to pour, a special Rainy Day Character Cavalcade comes out to play! This time, the mini-parade got a Halloween makeover. Coco Leggings Fantasy Faire The Villains After Hours event was cut short this year, but we keep finding event goodies throughout the theme parks. Disney World recently shared park hours through early December — but that’s not the only park hours news that’s happened today! Tree of Life In addition to extending the hours at EPCOT on several days in October, Disney World has also updated the park hours for Disney’s Animal Kingdom on an upcoming date in September! Since September 8th, the operating hours at Disney’s Animal Kingdom have regularly been 9AM-5PM. However, Disney has extended the hours on a few days to give guests some extra time in the park. So far, we’ve seen the Animal Kingdom operating hours on Sunday, September 20th and Saturday, September 26th extended to 9AM-6PM. Animal Kingdom Entrance And now, the hours have been extended on another date! According to the Disney World park calendar, the Animal Kingdom operating hours on Sunday, September 27th have been extended to 9AM-6PM. If you’re heading to EPCOT next month, you might have a little extra time to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival booths on your visit! EPCOT Since September 8th, the daily operating hours at EPCOT have been 11AM-7PM. But on select days in October, guests will have an extra hour to spend in the park! According to the Disney World park calendar, on Saturday, October 3rd and Saturday, October 10th, the EPCOT operating hours will be extended to 11AM-8PM! Earlier today, we learned about a MAJOR update coming to select Disney World table service restaurants. A brand-new Mobile Order feature launched on My Disney Experience called Table Service To Go, which as the name implies offering diners the opportunity to order table service food TO GO. Table Service To Go Screenshot When we investigated further, it appeared that Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is currently the only location offering this service. We ventured over to Animal Kingdom Lodge to test this new Mobile Order experience out for ourselves (spoiler alert: we 100% order the Bread Service). When we reported on the brand-new Table Service To Go this morning, we noted that most of Sanaa’s regular menu was available to order. On our visit this afternoon, however, we learned that there are certain times you need to visit in order to have access to that full menu! Sanaa On our visit, we learned that most of Table Service To Go at Sanaa is NOT available between the hours of 2:00-5:00PM. However, during these hours, there is still a limited menu available, which does include Bread Service as well as drinks at the bar! We were given a small menu to look at that had the items available to order between 2:00 and 5:00. Sanaa To Go Menu between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM We happened to visit Sanaa during this period of time where there was no cooking staff available, but it was great to hear that Bread Service was still available. When we ordered, we were actually given a later return time (since technically it’s not available between 2 PM and 5PM). Our return time for Table Service To Go The Cast Members then told us that since we were ordering items that were already available, that we could cancel our original order and they would ring us up right then and there. Sanaa The big lesson here is that if you want the FULL Sanaa To Go menu, be sure to get an arrival window of BEFORE 2:00PM or AFTER 5:00PM! Also keep in mind that during normal hours, To Go orders are typically brought to the front desk, but between 2:00PM and 5:00PM, you will be likely be directed to the bar to order from the limited menu. Sanaa Bar In the end, however, we were still able to be reunited with our beloved Bread Service! Bread Service To Go! And, of course, we scored ALL of the delicious dipping sauces on the side! Bread Service To Go! We also ordered the African Triple-Chocolate Mousse, which isn’t normally available during that 2:00-5:00 window, but they happened to have a few extra on hand! African Triple-Chocolate Mousse Overall, this is an AWESOME new way to enjoy some of the best Disney World dining! Our Table Service To Go feast! Even with the limited menu in the afternoon, it was really neat to be able to stroll outside with a bag full of delicious Bread Service! Disney World has now released information about the park hours through early December! Magic Kingdom Earlier this month, Disney World updated the park hours calendar to show that the hours at Magic Kingdom will be extended to 9AM-7PM beginning on November 6th and hours at EPCOT will shift to 12PM-8PM beginning November 27th. However, since the hours were only listed through November 28th, we weren’t sure what the park hours would look like moving into December. But, as of today, Disney World park hours are now listed through December 5th, 2020! The hours at Magic Kingdom are currently scheduled for 9AM-7PM through the first week in December. Magic Kingdom Hours for December 1st-5th The operating hours for EPCOT are listed as 12PM-8PM. EPCOT Hours for December 1st-5th The operating hours for Disney’s Hollywood Studios are listed as 10AM-7PM. You also must use the #shopDisneyContest hashtag in your post and you must follow @shopDisney on Instagram. Additionally, the post needs to made to your Instagram feed, and not an Instagram Story. ©Disney If more than one person in the video enters in the contest, you’ll need to specify in the comments section of the post which character each entrant is dressed as. The contest is only open to legal residents of the 50 states of the United States, and Washington, D.C., who are 18 and older at the time of entry. Also, the rules warn that if your Instagram account is set to private or protected mode, Disney may not be able to see your post and it may not be counted in the competition — so be sure to keep that in mind! Since Disney World’s reopening, we’ve started to see more of our favorite food and drink locations (like the Flavors from Fire booth at the Taste of EPCOT Food and Wine Festival) opening back up at Disney World. Uzima Springs Pool Bar at Animal Kingdom Lodge And now we can add one more location to the list — the Uzima Springs Pool Bar at Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Uzima Springs Pool Bar is an African oasis, and the bar itself even has a thatched roof! The bar is known for its African beers, South African wines, and specialty cocktails. Uzima Springs Pool Bar The pool bar reopened on Labor Day, but it’s only open on weekends, Friday through Sunday. As you can see, tables are spread out, and there are markers on the ground for social distancing. Uzima Springs Pool Bar So what did we do? WE HAD A DRINK, THAT’S WHAT WE DID! We decided to have one of our favorites, the African Sunset, which is Mango Rum, African Starr Rum, and mango and strawberry puree. The $15 drink was so vibrant and colorful! African Sunset from Uzima Springs Pool Bar It’s a lot prettier than the last time we tried it! And instead of a strawberry garnish, it now has a pineapple section on it! It’s still delicious and super fruity, like a fresh fruit smoothie. And although it’s overwhelmingly not strong, we still definitely tasted the rum. The mango and strawberry really blend well together. Because uhhh when do they not? African Sunset from Uzima Springs Pool Bar A Cast Member also told us you can request a virgin version of the drink for kids, too! They ring it up as a virgin strawberry daiquiri, so you have to make sure to ask for strawberry and mango to get the same flavors as the African Sunset. African Sunset from Uzima Springs Pool Bar Considering that everything else that serves food and drinks at Jambo House is still closed, it’s about the only place to really get anything to eat or drink from Friday-Sunday. And yes, there is SOME food, too, including Assorted Ice Cream (Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches!) and a Chili Cheese Hot Dog. Uzima Springs Pool Bar Food Menu Also, don’t forget that if you have a craving for Zebra Domes, an Animal Kingdom Lodge dessert staple, you can run over to Kidani to find those! The last few months have brought a WIDE variety of travel bans and restrictions for those entering and exiting the United States. Magic Kingdom Since March 18th, the US land borders (at Canada and Mexico) have been under a non-essential travel restriction. The restrictions have been extended month-by-month, and now the closure has been extended into October. According to US Customs and Border Protection, non-essential travel into the United States at land border ports of entry is still restricted through October 21st. Last month the Center for Disease Control and Prevention made a controversial change to its testing guidelines for the global health crisis. Florida Sunset Initially, testing was recommended for anyone who had come in contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. The change removed this recommendation and noted that those without symptoms didn’t need to get tested, which sparked some controversy — including remarks from Disney Chairman Bob Iger. The CDC has now revised the guidelines once more to return them to the original state. Now, testing is once again recommended for anyone who has been in contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19, regardless of symptoms. CDC Testing It is unknown whether this comes in response to the controversy, a change in opinion from health professionals, or something else. Many people will agree that coffee is a necessity (even when drinking it out of a Baby Yoda mug). But some people just aren’t satisfied with the coffee options offered at Disney World hotels. WDW Polynesian Resort Coffee Sure, Disney World has improved its java game with Joffrey’s in select resort rooms, as well as both Joffrey’s and Starbucks locations throughout the parks (perfect for when the PSL craving hits us). But some coffee lovers still crave something more sophisticated. That includes the NBA players who live in the NBA Bubble at Disney World. After players began to complain about the lack of good coffee, one player, Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler, started using his French Press to create his own coffee shop, where he charges a whopping $20 per cup. He called his pop-up coffee shop Big Face Coffee. However, Butler just got some new competition, according to the NBA Bubble Watch on Instagram. The Miami Heat’s assistant athletic trainer, Brandon Gilliam, has now opened his own coffee shop! Not only does he promise a more customer-friendly approach, but he also offers free samples and only charges $5 per cup. And he named his shop Little Face Coffee. LOL. The tourism industry is taking a hard hit from the temporary closures nationwide. Magic Kingdom Crowds Near Fantasyland and New Fantasyland As a result of what will more than likely be a slow financial recovery, Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts have laid off over 1,000 of its employees, effective this November. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Notice sent to Orange County Major Jerry Demings, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort will permanently lay off a total of 1,136 employees. These layoffs go into effect on November 13, 2020. Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort The Swan and Dolphin Hotels noted in their report that “challenging business conditions, including historically low hotel occupancy and mounting event cancellations, will extend into 2021. Based on these forecasts, it has been determined that job eliminations are required.” Swan and Dolphin Resort The layoffs span across multiple departments at the two hotels, including cooks, servers, housekeeping, front desk, and more. According to the report, both part-time and full-time positions were impacted by the layoffs. Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts The Swan and Dolphin Resorts reopened after the two locations hosted Major League Soccer over the summer as players and staff concluded their season in a bubble league. ©MLS The two resorts join a series of layoffs that have taken place over the past several weeks and months as a result of the negative impact on the tourism industry in Central Florida. Recently, Universal Orlando laid off over 1,00o hotel employees, which came after the resort laid off an unknown number of Team Members across the parks and resorts shortly after reopening in June. Goofy’s Candy Company in Disney Springs is serving up some serious Halloween treats this year! Halloween Treats Recently, we got to try a slice of pumpkin pie made out of rice krispies (!!) and a spooky sugar cookie from this spot. But, there were too many treats available to choose just two — so we had to have one more (and, it was another pumpkin spiced flavored snack)! This Mickey Jack-o’-Lantern Rice Krispie Treat from Goofy’s Candy Company was so adorable it had us dancing for joy (with the soundtrack to Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade playing in our minds of course)! This Halloween snack is pumpkin spiced flavored and features some chocolate on Mickey’s ears and face. You can grab one of these at Goofy’s Candy Company for $5.49. Mickey Jack-o’-Lantern Rice Krispie Treat Overall, much like the Pumpkin Pie Slice Rice Krispie snack, this treat was okay. The pumpkin spice flavor tasted a bit weird to us. We wish this treat had more of that marshmallow taste that you usually get with regular rice krispie treats. But, the little bits of chocolate on Mickey’s ears and face definitely helped add some more flavor to this treat, compared to the Pumpkin Pie Slice Rice Krispie snack. Mickey Jack-o’-Lantern Rice Krispie Treat Generally, we’d say this is probably a fun treat for the little ones, but not for those looking for a really flavorful pumpkin spice treat. There are LOTS of Halloween snacks available all around Disney World though, so there’s plenty to sample.
