We’re going out tonight. A little dancing, so many Mickey Ice Cream Bars, and six-foot waves. There’s only one place to find all this and waterslides galore: H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon.  This year, I heard rumors that a certain superstar was headlining the dance party, so I knew my husband, Todd, and I had to get into one of the 13 nights available this summer. Come along to find out why this is my number one favorite After Hours event at Walt Disney World. Todd and Rain pose for their annual photo with Laguna Gator at H2O Glow. Say Hello to Laguna Gator It’s more of a sandy carpet than a red carpet, but make no mistake, this is your spot to stop and pose with a statue of Laguna Gator. Since we all tend to put away our phones in favor of splashing through the waterpark, I always keep this in mind as a good chance for a group photo before my hair gets wet. Look to the right of the path into the park to take advantage of this ‘hidden’ spot. Another sweet spot for a photo is just down the path. I stopped to see Miss Tilly, (the 20th‑century shrimping vessel beached atop Mount Mayday) through one of the spyglass stations.  Rain's Tip: When packing for a day at Typhoon Lagoon, make sure to bring a cute cover-up for this brief photo moment while the sun still lingers.  Cast members at Typhoon Lagoon decorated the sidewalks for our big night! It’s Totally Rad to Be Early Getting into H2O Glow is easy, so let’s focus on getting there early. The party officially starts at 8:00 p.m. and ends at 11:00 p.m., but the pros always show up to the party fashionably early. By this time, a lot of the day guests are filtering out, so the park is already not-too-crowded and there are plenty of lounge chairs freeing up for you and your fellow After Hours friends. There were so many chairs available to hang before the event started. You can enter Typhoon Lagoon as soon as 6:00 p.m., adding two more hours to your night. It’s a good chance to grab complimentary towels at Singapore Sals, chill in a lounge chair, ride a few waterslides, and otherwise watch the park transform into party central. Towels are included at H2O Glow, just stop by to pick them up. Since all the attractions are scheduled to be open during H2O Glow, we always wait to queue up for slides that will have much shorter lines when the party starts. Since we got to the party a bit early, we had plenty of time to drop our valuables in a locker (available for a fee) and take our time for a leisurely dip.  Take your usual Castaway Creek float, but this time it’s truly lit. Take a Dip and a Trip in Castaway Creek My favorite mode of transportation at Typhoon Lagoon is Castaway Creek, a 2,000-foot long waterway that traverses the entire park. And at this event, the creek gets a glow-up. As we floated, we noticed that a few new inner tubes had joined the party, with silly character floats like Sulley, Kevin, Nemo, and even WALL-E appearing in the water. The author tries yet another character tube with lots of time to float. Which characters will you float with on your H2O Glow night? During H2O Glow, cast members add this little bit of extra magic to make the night feel special, and yes, I made an attempt to try them all.  H2O Glow has both party thrills and chill After Hours moments. We had to hop off the watery highway for a little detour. The Mt. Mayday Trail is a bit of a hidden gem at Typhoon Lagoon, but it’s totally worth the climb up here at H2O Glow to take in a unique view of the sunset that you usually don’t get to see.  But now that I’d had some quiet reflection, my attention was all about the dance party that I could hear heating up below. We hopped the next set of glittering tubes to float back around to the front of the park. By now, the party had officially started and a dance mix of the DuckTales theme song was our siren song calling to the dance floor (make that dance beach). The music starts at 8:00 p.m. and carries through the night. It’s Party on the Beach If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s burning all my After Hours time at the dance party. At Typhoon Lagoon, a DJ is spinning right on the beach, where it’s easy to bust a move in the sand, right by the Surf Pool shore.  The crowd was already gathered when we joined in, and by crowd, I mean Chip, Dale, Donald, and Daisy! They were all there to dance and play instead of taking photos and signing autographs, and this kind of hang-out atmosphere is always a more laid-back way to experience the characters.  Chip makes his best attempt at doing The Robot at H2O Glow. We were dipping a toe in the Surf Pool when I heard it: “Boom boom clap, boom de clap de clap…” I yelled at Todd that I had to go. Luckily, he understood: Miley Cyrus’ Hoedown Throwdown was just getting started … and who was there, but Launchpad McQuack!  High fives and vibes abound on the sandy dance floor I popped, locked, polka-dotted, and even earned myself a high-five from Launchpad. Talk about Disney memories! And later, even Powerline Max came out to lead a few dances on the stage. Over near Leaning Palms, there was also a special character greeting area where we were able to meet Max, get a few photos, and tell him how much we loved his moves. So Many Trips Down the Fruit Chutes So, are you team banana, coconut, or pineapple? The Crush ‘n’ Gusher is a set of three 400-foot long water coasters that wind in and around each other. At the queue entrance, Todd and I grabbed a two-person inner tube and had to choose our slide: Pineapple Plunger, Coconut Crusher, or Banana Blaster? Each fruit chute is a bit different, with various drops and turns, but every single one has water coaster elements that speed up your raft and send you zipping toward the final plunge. With three different flumes to experience, this is my number one slide to put on repeat at H2O Glow.  There’s nothing like boarding your raft, zooming through tunnels, splashing down, and getting right back in the short line to pick your next fruit chute. With shorter wait times, why not try them all?  Rain's Tip: If you like body slides, head over to try all three of the twisting Storm Slides or try racing your family down the 5-story Humunga Kowabunga trio of plunges. Another Mickey Bar, Please If you saw me at H2O Glow last week, I probably had a box of popcorn in my hand. If there’s unlimited snacks, I’m already there. At H2O Glow, your map will indicate where to find all of the complimentary snack stations, and you can find them in the park via the big glowing wave markers. There, you will find friendly cast members handing out treats, including Mickey Ice Cream Bars, Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches, popcorn, Fruit Bars, and more. Rain enjoys the Frozen Hot Honey Lemonade and Sloppy Max Sliders at Leaning Palms.  And Even More Festive Food and Drink In addition to the complimentary snacks, there is exclusive food and drink, and H2O Glow always turns it out with colorful spins on poolside snacks.  We tried the Sloppy Max Sliders, Pork Tamale, both scorched with a Powerline logo. Our Churro Rings came with colorful neon sprinkles, and even our Pretzel Bites had day-glo salt.  Rain’s yummy hot Honey Lemonade and Todd’s IPA in a Disney Waterparks souvenir cup. My favorite sip of the night was the Frozen Hot Honey Lemonade, a fresh sweet-and-spicy combo with a bit of spice around the rim of the cup.  The Pork Tamale, available at Typhoon Tilly’s. Rain's Tip: Keep in mind that the quick-service locations at H2O Glow close at 10:00 p.m., so grab your must-eats at least an hour before the party ends. Another Amazing H2O Glow Night for the Books After some more dancing in the moonlight and a few trips down Miss Adventure Falls and Keelhaul Falls, we were ready to call it a night. With so many attractions, characters, food, and entertainment, we had so much to do during our After Hours night. LEVEL99 is a “real-world, challenge-based, social entertainment” venue packed with games, challenges, and a whole lot more, and we can’t WAIT for it to open at Disney Springs on June 29th. LEVEL99 games! We’ve already got a sneak peek at some of the menu items coming to the lineup, and now, LEVEL99 has confirmed some of the games coming to their NEW Disney Springs location opening this month! LEVEL99 will have 63 life-sized mini-games and challenges, including the iconic Axe Run! You’ll be able to crack puzzles and outsmart challenges with your group. While they have other locations, this is the first one in Florida, and it will be the largest LEVEL99 yet! You can find it on the West Side of Disney Springs, close to the AMC Theater, in the former NBA Experience location. LEVEL99 Virginia We got a chance to visit another LEVEL99 location and check out the games, and we had so much fun. There were some that were more physical and others that were more brain-focused. Three games have been confirmed for the Disney Springs location: Axe Run, where Players race across a narrow beam while dodging swinging axes, aiming to hit the finish button as quickly as possible without stepping off course – an adrenaline-pumping test of speed, focus, and agility. LEVEL99 Axe Run Ninja Swing, where Players test their strength and precision by using ropes to navigate across a series of platforms, each one trickier than the last, earning Stars based on how far the group advances without falling. This place is SO fun! Mansion Banquet, where Players step into the role of dinner party planner, racing to solve quirky logic puzzles and perfectly match finicky guests with their ideal seat, entrée, and drink before mealtime. So many games! Beyond the games, you’ll be able to fuel up with a full selection of scratch food and beverage options. Menu items will include Level99’s award-winning Detroit-style pizza, wagyu burgers, and other craveable bites, as well as handcrafted cocktails and local beer selections on tap. The Fourth of July is right around the corner, which means that Disney World is officially starting to prepare for the huge crowds. While Disney always celebrates the holiday, this year, they are going all out because this Fourth of July marks the 250th anniversary of the United States. 4th of July in Magic Kingdom There are going to be special characters, firework shows, and even the new Soarin’ Across America, which opened a few weeks ago for the occasion. And Disney knows it’s about to get very busy, so they’ve made some changes to prepare. The summer in Disney World is always a very crowded and busy time; however, around the Fourth of July, it gets even more intense as everyone wants to celebrate the holiday with some Disney flair. To help with these increased crowds, Disney typically extends their park hours, and they have just released what those hours will look like this year. Main Street U.S.A. crowds on the 4th of July In Hollywood Studios, the hours used to run from 9 AM to 9 PM. However, on June 29th and June 30th, the park will now be open from 9 AM to 10 PM, giving guests an extra hour in the evening to enjoy the park. Animal Kingdom has recently been open until 6 PM, but on June 30th, it will be open one extra hour until 7 PM. Mickey and Pals on the 4th of July Despite EPCOT hosting a Fourth of July fireworks show, its hours remain the same, and it will be open until 9 PM through the Fourth of July. ©Disney Now, the biggest change is happening over at Magic Kingdom, where one night the park will be open until 12 AM! The park has recently been open from 9 AM to 10 PM, but that is changing as we get closer to the holiday. Lots of special effects Here are all the extended hours you can expect to find in Magic Kingdom. June 30th: 9 AM–11 PM July 2nd: 9 AM–11 PM July 3rd: 8 AM–11 PM July 4th: 8 AM–12 AM These extensions make a lot of sense given the popularity of Magic Kingdom and the Fireworks show, Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky, which will be taking place on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Happy 4th! All four parks will most likely be extremely busy in the week leading up to and following the Fourth of July. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a strange little dining puzzle box. Hollywood Studios It has a few restaurants with fantastic theming, a few meals we’ll defend with a plastic fork if necessary, and a few reservations that look better in your My Disney Experience plans than they feel once you’re actually sitting there, sweating through your Lightning Lane strategy and wondering why lunch took 90 minutes. Now, we should be clear: we eat everywhere because that’s the job. We review, we revisit, we retest, and we give restaurants more chances than some people give their exes. But when we’re planning our own Disney World vacations? The standards get sharper. We only have so much time, money, stomach space, and patience for a table-service meal in Hollywood Studios. Chicken Pot Pie Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is one of the best examples of Disney theming doing Olympic-level gymnastics while the food kind of jogs behind it in jeans. The setup is excellent. You sit in little car booths under a dark indoor “night sky,” watch vintage sci-fi movie clips, and get the full drive-in theater experience without anyone’s pickup truck headlights ruining the vibe. If you’ve never been before, it’s absolutely worth seeing once. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant The issue is that “worth seeing once” is not the same thing as “worth booking every trip.” The menu is mostly burgers, sandwiches, fries, milkshakes, and classic American fare. It’s not bad, but it often lands in that dangerous Disney middle zone: fine. And “fine” becomes a harder sell when you’ve booked a reservation, built your day around it, and used a chunk of precious park time for a meal that may not stick with you once you’re back outside. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Eats There’s also the seating situation. The car booths are fun, but they can feel awkward for conversation depending on your party size. You may be facing forward instead of toward each other, which is cute for the bit, but less cute when you’re trying to ask your family whether anyone actually wants to use your Tower of Terror Lightning Lane or if everyone is pretending to be brave for the group chat. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant Sci-Fi is best for first-timers, theme lovers, and families who really want that unique dining room. But experts? We’re not usually spending one of our limited Hollywood Studios reservations here. Here’s where we’d eat instead. If you want retro theming with a stronger meal, book 50’s Prime Time Café. It still gives you a big personality dining experience, but the comfort food tends to feel more substantial. If you want something a little more grown-up without leaving the park, try The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge for appetizers, cocktails, and the very important luxury of not committing your entire afternoon to a heavy sit-down meal. Hollywood & Vine Hollywood & Vine is not a total skip for everyone. Let’s start there before the character dining fans start sharpening their autograph pens. If you have young kids who love Disney characters, a meal here can make a lot of sense. If your family wants Minnie and friends in seasonal outfits to be the main priority, Hollywood & Vine does the job. Minnie at Hollywood & Vine The problem is that the food has rarely been the reason we recommend it. This is a buffet, and buffets in Disney World can be useful. They’re fast. They’re flexible. Everyone can build their own plate. Your picky eater can eat rolls and macaroni and cheese while your more adventurous eater creates a plate that looks like it was curated by a raccoon with a dining plan. Everybody wins, sort of. Salad and fruit bar at Hollywood & Vine But Hollywood & Vine is also expensive, especially for lunch and dinner. When we’re paying character meal prices, we want the food, the atmosphere, and the character experience to all pull their weight. Here, the characters usually do the heavy lifting while the buffet quietly stands in the corner holding a tray of carved meat. Hollywood and Vine Seasonal Dine Plate Again, this can be a smart reservation for a very specific family. If your kid is in their character-hug era, this might be a core memory factory. If you love seasonal Minnie outfits, you may have a good time. But if your group is mostly adults, older kids, or anyone who cares more about the actual meal than the character parade, this is one we usually skip. Here’s where we’d eat instead. For a character breakfast that feels more polished, take the Skyliner to Disney’s Riviera Resort and book Topolino’s Terrace. It is harder to get, yes, but it feels like a better use of a splurge. For a non-character meal near Hollywood Studios, Ale & Compass Restaurant at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is a strong option, especially if you want to leave the park for a calmer meal without launching yourself across property like a dining cannonball. Roundup Rodeo BBQ Roundup Rodeo BBQ is not bad. It’s cute, it’s colorful, and Toy Story fans will find a lot to look at. The whole restaurant is designed to make you feel like one of Andy’s toys, which is charming in theory and very “giant cardboard cutout fever dream” in practice. Roundup Rodeo BBQ The meal is served family-style, with barbecue meats, plant-based options, sides, and desserts brought to the table. For some families, this is exactly what they want. Sit down, pass plates around, eat a big meal, and let the kids point at every oversized toy detail in the room. But for us, this is one of those restaurants that feels like it should be more fun than it actually is. Roundup Rodeo BBQ Part of the issue is the heaviness of the meal. Barbecue in the middle of a Hollywood Studios day can be a bold little decision, especially if your next agenda item is Slinky Dog Dash in July. It’s also a time commitment. Hollywood Studios is a park where your day can already feel like a game of attraction Tetris, and a big family-style meal can eat up more time and energy than you expect. Forky Cupcake Then there’s the price. Roundup Rodeo BBQ is not wildly out of line for Disney table service, but if we’re spending that kind of money, we want to leave saying, “That was absolutely worth it.” Here, we often leave saying, “That was cute.” Cute is nice. Cute does not always get the reservation. Here’s where we’d eat instead. If you want Toy Story vibes without the full table-service commitment, grab a quicker meal in Toy Story Land and keep moving. If you want family-style dining that feels like a better value, take the Skyliner over to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and book Sebastian’s Bistro. If you want to stay in Hollywood Studios and have a more flexible adult meal, The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge is a better play. Oga’s Cantina Yes, we know. Oga’s Cantina is not really a restaurant. But Disney lets you book it, people plan around it like a meal, and it shows up in the dining reservation ecosystem wearing a little cloak of importance. So we’re including it because this is one of the easiest Hollywood Studios “reservations” to misunderstand. Oga’s Cantina Oga’s is a bar. A very cool bar, yes. A heavily themed Star Wars bar with weird drinks, DJ R-3X, and enough Batuu atmosphere to make a grown adult whisper, “This is actually pretty awesome,” into a bubbling blue beverage. But it is not lunch. It is not dinner. It is not a relaxing lounge where you melt into a chair and recover from your 22,000 steps. Spotchka In fact, seating is limited, and many guests stand. The experience is also timed, so this is not the place to linger for hours while you slowly revive your theme park soul. The drink menu is the star, snacks are limited, and the whole thing can feel loud, crowded, and more chaotic than some guests expect. For Star Wars fans, Oga’s is still worth doing once. We’re not immune to the charm of a droid DJ. But if you’ve already been, or if your group is tired, hungry, overstimulated, or in desperate need of actual chairs, this is not the reservation we’d prioritize. Here’s where we’d eat instead. If you want drinks and snacks inside Hollywood Studios, try Baseline Tap House for a no-reservation drink-and-snack spot without making your day revolve around it. It feels more like a reset and less like you’ve been assigned to stand in a spaceport storage closet with a cocktail. If you’re willing to leave the park, Crew’s Cup Lounge or Ale & Compass Lounge at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort can be a much calmer choice. What We’d Actually Book Hollywood Studios dining is tricky because some of its restaurants are better experiences than meals. That doesn’t make them bad. It just means you need to know what you’re booking. Sci-Fi is great for the room, but not always for the food. Hollywood & Vine works for character-focused families, but the buffet is not usually our first choice. Roundup Rodeo BBQ is cute, but can feel too heavy and too pricey for what it is. Oga’s is fantastic for Star Wars atmosphere, but it is not a meal and should not be treated like one. This burger is packed! So what are we booking instead? For a reliable in-park meal, we’re more likely to choose 50’s Prime Time Café. For a splurge, The Hollywood Brown Derby still has a place in the conversation. For flexibility, the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge is often the better move. And if we’re willing to leave the park, nearby resort restaurants like Ale & Compass, Topolino’s Terrace, Sebastian’s Bistro, and Crew’s Cup Lounge can make a Hollywood Studios day feel a lot less like a dining compromise. The real expert move is not refusing to eat somewhere just to be dramatic. The expert move is knowing when a restaurant is worth your time, your money, and your one precious sit-down meal of the day. Disney is hitting us with ALL the news today, but we’re not complaining. ©Disney Disney Springs is already full of dozens of different restaurants and shopping experiences to explore, but this summer, there are lots of new attractions on the way. Some of them we’ve known about for a few months, but now, Disney has just announced TWO additional offerings coming that you’ll want to add to your must-do list! Want something cool to keep you feeling refreshed this summer while you walk around? Head on over to the new Kakigōri Kool cart, coming soon Morimoto Asia! The new stand will be located right outside the restaurant and will serve up Japan’s beloved shaved ice dessert with fruity syrups and fun toppings, such as strawberry popping boba and fresh pineapple. ©Disney If you’ve loved the offering to make your own popcorn mix over in Magic Kingdom, boy, are you in luck! It’s also been announced that a new create-your-own popcorn offering is coming to Goofy’s Candy Company this summer as well. You’ll be able to choose between three popcorn flavors (caramel, buttered, and Disney Springs’ exclusive flavor, orange citrus), add a chocolate drizzle if you’d like, and top it off with two or three candy mix-ins for a treat that’s exactly how you pictured it. ©Disney Don’t forget about some of the offerings we already knew to be on the way to the shopping and dining district! Six Ravens, Gideon’s Bakehouse’s savory cousin, is on its way and will serve up Coffyns, which are house‑made yeast rolls stuffed with savory fillings that draw inspiration from Medieval European pastry cases, as well as other treats. ©Six Ravens Multiple new shops will also be opening up, such as Vans and the Oakley store, which has reopened just in time for the summer season. Of course, we can’t forget about Level99, the new attraction for adults and teens that will feature 60+ life‑sized mini‑games and real-world challenges. Stuffed. Pancake. Sandwich. Need I say more? Stuffed Pancake Sandwich In 2023, we were obsessed with the Stuffed Pancake Sandwich in Animal Kingdom, and while it’s been on fewer menus since, it’s officially making a comeback, and grabbing breakfast in Disney World just got easier. The Pancake Stuffed Sandwich is $9.49 and features sausage, guava paste, egg, and cheese, and we found it at Pongu Pongu and other quick service spots in the morning. You can now find it at Tamu Tamu Refreshments and Harambe Fruit Market, too! With two new locations, it’s so easy to grab a quick breakfast before heading to Expedition Everest. Stuffed We think the sandwich is quite large and could be shared between two people if you’re looking for something smaller to hold you over. The pancake part was thick and fluffy, but wasn’t so soft that it fell apart and had a nice crust on the outside. While the sausage and egg tasted very similar to what you can get at a fast food restaurant (in a good way!), the guava paste gave it an extra element that elevated the flavor by adding some sweetness. Inside the Pancake Stuffed Sandwich It had a great balance of flavors, and while for the most part, it’s a simple breakfast sandwich with pancakes, the guava paste made it a little more fun. You can also ask for it without the guava if you want to stick to the classics. Tamu Tamu Breakfast can be one of the hardest meals to find at Disney World. You might be in a rush getting to the parks to rope drop, or you just can’t find the right meal that everyone will enjoy. This Pancake Stuffed Sandwich is a great, fast option, but we also enjoy heading to Tusker House Restaurant in Animal Kingdom. Tusker House It’s an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet, and you can even meet characters while dining. While the characters can change depending on when you go, it’s usually Donald, Goofy, and Daisy in their safari outfits. If you’re worried about the time a longer sit-down breakfast can take, character dining might be the way to go since you’re being productive and meeting characters that you won’t have to meet later in the parks. It may be the middle of summer, but we can’t stop thinking about the Oogie Boogie Bash that is returning to the Disneyland Resort for another spooky season! Oogie Boogie Bash Why can’t we stop thinking about it? It’s because tickets are ALREADY on sale! If you’re hoping to check out the Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure, this is your reminder that you can get tickets RIGHT NOW. We wouldn’t hesitate, because tickets are limited. The Oogie Boogie Bash is a special ticketed Halloween event held at Disney California Adventure. The party takes place on select nights from August 18th through October 31st. As we mentioned, tickets are officially on sale…just not for everyone, at least not yet. Decor! If you’re a Magic Key holder, you have the awesome opportunity to purchase from a select number of pre-sale tickets and get your hands on party tickets early. If you’re an Inspire Key holder, you can purchase tickets starting TODAY, June 16th. For Believe, Explore, Enchant and Imagine Key holders, you can purchase tickets starting tomorrow, June 17th. Oogie Boogie at Oogie Boogie Bash Whether your Magic Key makes you eligible to purchase tickets today or tomorrow, you have to take advantage of this! Who’s excited for spooky season? We know some of you are counting down the days! Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights Those who love all things eerie, creepy, and gory are probably eager to head to Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) at Universal Orlando! This annual fall event is perfect for those who actually enjoy the scary side of the season, but this year there’s a change you’ll want to note. According to the Halloween Horror Nights website, parking is no longer free after midnight, like it had been in years past. Universal Orlando has updated the website to note that “Universal Orlando’s standard parking fees apply on Halloween Horror Nights event dates until 2AM.” Nightmare Fuel Circus of Decay In the past, you could get free parking if you arrived after midnight. This is also important to note for those visiting CityWalk on nights that Halloween Horror Nights is taking place — typically, parking is free for CityWalk, Universal Studios Florida, and Universal Islands of Adventure after 6PM, but that is not the case on HHN nights. Halloween Horror Nights House Keep in mind that if you’re going to Halloween Horror Nights, it’s located at Universal Studios Florida. Parking for that park, CityWalk, and Universal Islands of Adventure is all located in the same parking garage. Make sure you note which section and row you’re parked in — you don’t want to lose your car at the end of the night! Arriving at Universal This year is the 35th anniversary of Halloween Horror Nights, and it will run on select nights from August 28th through November 1st, 2026. The theme is Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, and the event will include spooky haunted houses, intimidating scare zones, themed food, and incredible live entertainment. There’s a lot to do and see! Mr. Cupcake at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, an example of the event’s unique treat offerings from the 2025 event. Who’s excited for LEVEL99 to open in Disney Springs? We sure are! LEVEL99 Virginia Ever since we got to try it for ourselves at another location, we’ve been sitting on pins and needles until we could buy tickets. They finally announced when the experience will open, along with ticket information. LEVEL99 will open on June 29th, and you can start buying tickets on June 22nd at level99.com! From the hype on social media, we’re thinking it’s going to be popular, so if you want to go close to when it opens, we highly recommend being ready to get tickets on June 22nd. Future location of LEVEL99 Tickets will start at $29.99 per player for intervals of 1.5 to 2.5 hours of play. A premium pass add-on will be available, including expedited check-in and special gifts. The first 500 players on opening day at Disney Springs will receive a commemorative pin! This place is SO fun! LEVEL99 will be open from: Monday – Thursday: 11 AM to 10 PM Friday: 11 AM to 11 PM Saturday: 10 AM to 11 PM Sunday: 10 AM to 10 PM Let’s play! This is an interactive, social entertainment experience and features physical and mental challenges set in artistic environments. At the Disney Springs location, there will be 63 life-sized mini-games and challenges, including the Axe Run, which we’re most excited about. It’s their fourth location and the first one in Florida. LEVEL99 games! It’s located on the West Side of Disney Springs, close to the AMC Theater. It’s over 45,000 square feet and two stories tall. Sounds like there’s going to be a lot of fun! You can also grab their award-winning Detroit-style pizza, pretzels, fries, and other snacks. We’re always down for food, so we’re excited to try it all. Detroit Style Pizza There are three different types of games, including: Rooms are cooperative games for teams of 2-6 players. Each room features a unique experience in either the PHYSICAL, SKILL, or MENTAL categories. Physical rooms test “strength, balance, and flexibility.” Skill rooms test “accuracy, timing, and reflexes.” Mental rooms test “memory, problem-solving, spatial thinking… and more!” Duels are head-to-head challenges found throughout LEVEL99. Art Hunts are “a low-key scavenger hunt involving the playful art found all throughout the space. Each piece of art contains a hidden Glyph. Detroit Style Pizza Disney just announced that this new spot will officially open in Disney Springs on June 29th, and we can’t wait! In addition to games, LEVEL99 is also home to some legendary eats, and now, we’ve got a sneak peek at some of the items coming to the menu! We’re getting even more excited about LEVEL99 now that we know it’s opening SO SOON! Beyond the games, you’ll be able to fuel up with a full selection of scratch food and beverage options. Menu items will include Level99’s award-winning Detroit-style pizza, wagyu burgers, and other craveable bites, as well as handcrafted cocktails and local beer selections on tap. Over the last 30+ years, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has been one of the most beloved attractions at Walt Disney World. Tower of Terror Since its opening back in 1994, the Hollywood Studios E-Ticket has often been cited as one of Imagineering’s best EVER attractions, especially of the Post-Walt Era. It’s often praised for its in-depth queue, highly developed story, inventive ride system, and use of the Twilight Zone intellectual property (IP). However, the ride almost didn’t have said backstory or queue at all. Instead, it was at one point scheduled to be themed to… legendary director Mel Brooks. Yes, seriously, Mel Brooks. Why? Well, to answer that, we have to go back in time. ©CNN In the early 1990s, Disney was riding high. The Disney Renaissance was in full effect at the box office, and the company was expanding its theme park presence in a major way, especially in Orlando, where Imagineering was busy coming up with ideas to quickly expand the then-newly opened — and mega-successful — Disney/MGM Studios theme park. From back when Hollywood Studios went by a different name… One of the ideas they came up with was the concept of anchoring a new Sunset Boulevard expansion with a hotel-based attraction that may or may not have also featured a real in-park hotel element in addition to an attraction. ©Disney At the insistence of then-CEO Michael Eisner, the team brought the idea to legendary director Mel Brooks, whom Eisner wanted to bring into the park’s fold. At the time, this wasn’t as bizarre as it likely sounds today, since major celebrities — even those who weren’t majorly associated with Disney — were a big part of the early MGM Studios park and its attractions. All the early 90s biggest celebrities hung around MGM Studios at the time. Working with the legendary director of films like Space Balls and Young Frankenstein, the Imagineers and Brooks came up with the concept of a madcap haunted hotel attraction that would be hosted by Brooks (either via video screens or in full animatronic form, depending on whose recollections one reads), and feature scenes from several of his films, likely including the aforementioned Young Frankenstein, and their major characters. ©Disney Suffice to say, the experience could have been VERY different than what was eventually built. However, this version of the attraction never made it past the development stage, as Brooks backed out. After the Brooks-centric version of the attraction fell apart, Imagineers pivoted the ride system to a free-fall attraction based on a ride system that was originally planned for EuroDisneyland’s Frontierland. While that ride, Geyser Mountain — a part roller coaster/part free-fall ride that would have shot guests up a vertical mine shaft — was never built, its ride system would be transformed into an elevator for the hotel attraction. ©No-guiltdisney.com While other concepts, including Stephen King novels and a Vincent Price theme, were considered, Disney eventually licensed the Twilight Zone IP from CBS and integrated the series’ paranormal themes into the “Old Hollywood Hotel” concept, leading to the creation of the ride we’ve loved for three decades. You are about to enter the Twilight Zone… The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has been a Disney World icon since 1994, but the attraction was almost COMPLETELY different than the spooky favorite of many. Many Disney fans have mixed feelings about Carousel of Progress in Magic Kingdom getting a large overhaul with all-new scenes, but it’s still happening, whether we like it or not. Carousel of Progress In fact, the project has just taken another step forward. The current version of the ride will close on July 6th to be transformed, which is certainly coming up fast. It looks like Disney may be ready to begin working on the new version right away, because a new permit was just filed. The permit is for general construction, which leaves it pretty open as to what could be the plan. Though it’s our assumption that Disney will work on taking the parts of the scenes out that will no longer be needed before adding in the new ones. Once those walls go up, though, we’ll all be clueless, which is part exciting and part nerve-wracking. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress The contractor for this construction is Southeastern Construction & Maintenance, Inc., which, according to their website, has worked as a Structural Steel Fabricator and in Industrial Construction and Theme Park Construction since 1972. In regard to theme parks specifically, the company “Designs and fabricates custom steel structures that add to the functionality and aesthetics of theme park attractions and facilities, fostering a memorable guest experience.” New Permit The permit was signed on April 28th, though, which means that the permit will expire on April 28th, 2027. As Disney has previously said that the new version of the attraction will open in 2027, we’re hoping that means it’ll open in the early quarter of the year (keep in mind, though, that Disney can always file another permit if they need more time). ©Disney Disney has confirmed that they’ll be revisiting the music, fashion, technology, and experiences that John and his family had in the updated show. Act 1 will take us to the summer of 1969, where the Carousel family will gather around the television to witness the historic moon landing! Well, look at that! Disney World just dropped a brand-new ticket option! EPCOT It can feel overwhelming to figure out what ticket you need for your trip. Do you need Park Hoppers? Four days? June 16, 2016, marked the moment the gates opened on Shanghai Disney Resort, the sixth Disney resort in the world and the first in China mainland. More than the debut of a new resort, it represented a defining chapter in how Disney storytelling could evolve, honoring a rich legacy while embracing new cultural perspectives and connecting with a multigenerational audience in entirely new ways. From the very beginning, the resort was guided by a clear and ambitious principle: “Authentically Disney, Distinctly Chinese.” This vision shaped every aspect of the experience, from the transformation of Main Street, U.S.A. into Mickey Avenue to the reimagined central hub as the Gardens of Imagination, a space inspired by traditional Chinese landscapes and symbolism. Attractions, dining, entertainment, hotels, architecture, and storytelling were all thoughtfully crafted to reflect local culture while remaining unmistakably Disney. At its center would also stand Enchanted Storybook Castle, the largest castle ever built at a Disney park, embodying both the scale of the resort and the timeless, universal nature of Disney stories. Construction began on April 8, 2011, and in just five years, the largest Disneyland-style park in the world came to life. Even beneath rainy skies, opening day carried an unmistakable sense of anticipation and history in the making. A choir welcomed guests in front of Enchanted Storybook Castle with a performance of When You Wish Upon a Star, setting the tone for a day that seamlessly bridged Disney history with its future. Former Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger addressed guests in both Mandarin and English, before sharing the dedication inscription that now greets guests each day. “To all who come to this happy place, welcome. Shanghai Disneyland is your land. Here you leave today and discover imaginative worlds of fantasy, romance, and adventure that ignite the magical dreams within all of us. Shanghai Disneyland is authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese. It was created for everyone, bringing to life timeless characters and stories in a magical place that will be a source of joy, inspiration, and memories for generations to come.” Mickey and Minnie Mouse, dressed for the celebration, joined beloved Disney friends including Baymax, Timon, and Duffy to mark the occasion. A ribbon cutting, fireworks and a shared sense of excitement ushered guests into a park unlike any Disney had built before. For many, this was their very first Disney park experience, an opportunity to discover Disney storytelling through a lens designed specifically for them. Attractions blended innovation with familiarity while introducing groundbreaking experiences that would set new standards. Guests could race into the digital frontier on TRON Lightcycle Power Run, embark on an immersive journey in Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure, or soar across the globe on Soaring Over the Horizon, which made its debut for the park opening. Entertainment offerings, including Mickey’s Storybook Express, filled the day with energy before culminating in “Ignite the Dream: A Nighttime Spectacular of Magic and Light,” across Enchanted Storybook Castle. Yet opening day was only the beginning. Within five months, construction was already underway on the resort’s first expansion, Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land, signaling a pace of growth that would quickly define Shanghai Disney Resort. The park welcomed more than 11 million guests in its first year, setting a record for a Disney park debut and establishing itself as the most successful theme park ever opened in China. Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land, the resort’s seventh themed land, further demonstrated the success of blending Disney and Pixar storytelling with local resonance. Opened on April 26, 2018, it featured attractions such as Rex’s Racer, Slinky Dog Spin and Woody’s Roundup. The land invited guests into a playful, larger-than-life environment inspired by a franchise that had long connected with Chinese audiences. With Toy Story films achieving strong box office success in China, the land felt both globally recognizable and locally meaningful. Guests were immersed in a colorful world where they were “shrunk” to the size of a toy, exploring spaces like Al’s Toy Barn that could only be found in Shanghai, for the very first time. Although the story didn’t end there, the following year, Shanghai Disney Resort revealed it would begin breaking ground on its second major expansion. This time, the new land would bring to life the characters and stories from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia, the highest grossing animated film in China at the time. On December 20, 2023, the land opened to overwhelming excitement. Despite the winter weather, guests lined up dressed in their Zootopia best to be among the first to experience the only Zootopia-themed land in the world. A fully immersive land, it featured the brand-new attraction Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, an all-new entertainment experience “Disney Zootopia Comes Alive,” plus themed food and merchandise that brought the land to life. Dedicated to a single franchise, Zootopia offered the opportunity to bring the movie from screen to reality for the very first time. It also allowed for the land to continue to evolve as the franchise expanded, which was seen during the release of Disney Animation’s Zootopia 2. For the first time, the entire land was updated to include new details and easter eggs from the movie that had just been released. And for a limited time, the ending of “Zootopia: Hot Pursuit” also featured the film’s brand-new hit song, Zoo, which was added to the attraction from concept to completion in just seven weeks by Walt Disney Imagineering — one of the quickest attraction updates ever accomplished at the time. It’s now 10 years since the park first opened, and that spirit of growth and innovation continues to shape the resort in new ways. Across Shanghai Disney Resort, the anniversary celebration has been brought to life through new and updated entertainment, as well as limited-time offerings. From a new castle stage show to a Duffy and Friends pre-parade and a vibrant Zootopia float added to Mickey’s Storybook Express, the celebration carries through the day before culminating in a nighttime spectacular that shines brighter than ever with a grand new finale. Favorite food and beverage offerings have also returned for a limited time, alongside sparkling merchandise that adds to the sense of occasion across the resort. While guests have been able to enjoy these new offerings since March, the milestone was also marked in a special way on the eve of the official anniversary. Cast members, resort partners and friends, and longtime supporters gathered — each of them part of the story that has shaped the resort over the past decade. The evening began with a red carpet welcome before continuing into a festive celebration at Enchanted Storybook Castle. In honor of the tenth anniversary, a special ceremony unfolded on the castle stage, blending classic Disney melodies with live performances created just for the occasion. Guests were taken on a musical journey through ten years of storytelling, with a medley of songs highlighting defining moments in the resort’s history while celebrating the people behind it. It was both a reflection on how it all began and a tribute to those who have brought the magic to life every day since. One of the evening’s defining moments came when Bob Iger, former Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company and current Senior Advisor, and Josh D’Amaro, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, joined by Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and honored guests on stage to light the Wishing Star. The moment served as a symbolic tribute to the resort’s first decade and a look ahead to its future. The celebration concluded with a dazzling finale that honored ten years of magic while pointing toward even more stories still to come. The celebration continued into the official anniversary the following day, when a towering birthday cake inspired by the park’s eight themed lands became a centerpiece of the festivities. Earlier in the day, cast members and Disney Imagineers gathered for a group picture to mark the monumental occasion. The moment was a reminder that behind every attraction, show and guest experience are the people who make the magic possible. As Shanghai Disney Resort looks ahead to the future, that same sense of creativity and momentum is already shaping what comes next. A ninth themed land is currently under construction, first announced in August 2024 at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The Spider-Man-inspired land, located adjacent to Zootopia, will introduce the park’s first major Super Hero-themed attraction, along with themed shopping, dining, and entertainment experiences. The project recently reached an important milestone, with the final piece of the attraction’s track installed just a few weeks ago. The vision for the future continues beyond the park itself. Plans are underway for two additional hotels — the third rising alongside the existing Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and the fourth located just steps from the park entrance — as well as an expanded shopping, dining, and entertainment district. Adding to that excitement, the resort has officially announced the name of its third hotel, Shanghai Disney Enchanted Star Hotel. Inspired by the fabled Wishing Star and the enduring idea that wishes are at the heart of every Disney story, the hotel draws from Shanghai’s cultural heritage while incorporating Art Nouveau influences, with the Wishing Star serving as a guiding thread throughout the design. When it opens this winter, the approximately 400-room deluxe hotel will offer sweeping views of Shanghai Disneyland and Wishing Star Park. The experience will reflect a world shaped by dreams, wishes, and beloved Disney characters, with indoor and outdoor pools and a range of recreational offerings designed for every season. As Shanghai Disney Resort continues to grow, the connection between its past, present, and future remains clear.
