One of the biggest advantages of staying at a Disney World hotel is not the ambiance of Disney magic (although that is pretty amazing), but the free perks that come along with the reservation! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort You get free transportation almost anywhere around Disney property (can’t go from Disney Springs to the parks though), but you also get Early Entry into the four parks on any given day! If you’re heading to Disney World in 2025, these are the hotels that will give you Early Entry perks. However, things can change between now and the start of 2025, since we have 9 more months of 2024 to get through, but at this time, since bookings are available for 2025, we can assume that Disney would have made a note about these hotels choosing to not offer Early Entry in 2025 by now. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort We’ll be sure to keep this post updated if things change. The full list of Disney World Hotels that should be offering Early Entry in 2025 is: The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Disney’s All-Star Music Resort Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s Beach Club Villas Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Disney’s BoardWalk Villas Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Disney’s Contemporary Resort Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Disney’s Old Key West Resort Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows Disney’s Pop Century Resort Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside Disney’s Riviera Resort Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Art of Animation Certain Good Neighbor Hotels will also offer Early Entry as a perk. In 2025, these hotels are currently slated to be: Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel Walt Disney World Swan Hotel Walt Disney World Swan Reserve B Resort & Spa Lake Buena Vista DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista Four Seasons Resort Orlando Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Holiday Inn Orlando Shades of Green® on Walt Disney World Resort Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek Waldorf Astoria Orlando Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Many of these Good Neighbor Hotel offer fantastic deals for staying close to the parks on a budget, but we’d like to warn you against using their free transportation to and from the parks. It’s not Disney’s transportation, and sometimes it can be much slower and cause you to miss certain events like rope drop, dining reservations, and more. Here’s why people AREN’T staying at Disney World Hotels and are choosing Good Neighbor Hotels instead! We won’t lie — we like to play with Disney food. Yes, it’s TOTALLY okay to play with your food in Disney World. That’s because sometimes, if you combine certain foods, you can create an even BETTER food. We’ve done it with Mickey cookies and ice cream, waffles from Sleepy Hollow, Shakes, Blue and Green Milk, and more. Well, we’re BACK with another snack hack we think you’ll love. This is one of the easier hacks because you can get everything you need in one location. There are two special EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival snacks available at Refreshment Outpost. There’s the Seasonal Fruit Parfait made with sweet chili sauce and DOLE Whip Mango for $7. Seasonal Fruit Parfait However, you can also get an Ice Cream Float made with Tangerine Soft Serve and Barq’s Red Cream Soda for $6.75. Ice Cream Float: Tangerine soft-serve and Barq’s Red Creme Soda Here’s what we did: we took that Mango Dole Whip and asked for it with the Barq’s Red Creme Soda to create our own Mango Dole Whip Float! Even better? We were just charged the price of the float, which is $6.75. So this hack is under $7! SCORE! Did we mention how pretty it is? Mango Dole Whip Float So how does it taste? Well, we didn’t get much of the cream soda flavor, but the soda seems to pull some of the fruitier flavors from the Mango Dole Whip. It almost reminded us of a tropical fruit punch, and we really loved how refreshing this hack turned out to be! VERY tropical Once the Dole Whip started melting into the soda, though, we got a tropical fruit smoothie vibe, and we are HERE for it. Overall, this is one delicious snack hack — FIVE STARS! Plus, the line here is typically pretty short since no one seems to know about this underrated Dole Whip location in Disney World. So, see? It pays to play with your food! Be sure to try this if you’re visiting the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival before it ends on May 27th. 2024 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival Booth Menus and Food Photos Stay tuned to DFB for more! WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! Not all Disney World rides are created equal. Disney World Without question, Disney World offers some of the best theme park attractions IN THE WORLD. From innovative Star Wars experiences to a journey through Pandora, the world of Avatar, Disney World boasts some insanely popular rides. However, not every ride is a huge hit with the park guests, and our experts have pinpointed two rides that severely lack in popularity. Don’t get us wrong — we don’t hate either of these rides. In fact, one of them, especially, holds a sentimental place in our hearts. Still, the data doesn’t lie, and it looks like most parkgoers tend to skip these two attractions, lending them to have the lowest average wait times among the four Disney World Parks. It’s important to note that wait times can be affected by factors such as capacity, ride times, and loading speed. With that said, let’s check out the two rides our experts highlighted! TriceraTop Spin TriceraTop Spin TriceraTop Spin over at DinoLand, U.S.A. is Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s version of the classic Dumbo the Flying Elephant aerial carousel-style ride. The seats are kind of small which doesn’t really accommodate taller passengers and although it’s fun to fly around in dinosaurs, the ride doesn’t offer anything truly unique that can’t be found at another Disney Park. The lack of uniqueness could be a huge factor in this ride’s lack of popularity since Animal Kingdom is absolutely stacked with rides and experiences that you can’t experience anywhere else in the world. TriceraTop Spin The ride time is around 90 seconds and wait times seldom exceed 20 minutes, so if you’re looking for a quick and charming (yet forgettable) ride, TriceraTop Spin is a safe choice, especially if you have small children. You can watch our video on Animal Kingdom right here! Journey Into Imagination With Figment Journey Into Imagination with Figment It breaks our hearts to list Journey Into Imagination With Figment as one of the least popular Disney World rides, but the numbers don’t lie. We may have a ton of nostalgia for this EPCOT classic, but it seems not everyone agrees. The ride takes you on a tour of the Imagination Institute with Dr. Nigel Channing and Figment, a purple dragon and an EPCOT original character. During the tour you will explore the five senses with a comedic twist. Journey Into Imagination With Figment Admittedly, the perception of the ride has soured over the years due to ride changes (including the failed Journey Into YOUR Imagination). Additionally, EPCOT’s inclusion of bigger E-ticket attractions such as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! have begun to make Journey Into Imagination With Figment a skippable attraction if you’re running short on time. The ride itself lasts for six minutes and wait times hardly reach over 20 minutes, although popularity can increase during the holidays when Figment gets a holiday sweater. Figment! The day has finally arrived! Typhoon Lagoon has reopened! Although one Disney World water park, Blizzard Beach, has closed, another has reopened. Yes! Typhoon Lagoon has officially reopened in Disney World, and we’re going to take you inside with us to see what things are like inside the water park now. So grab your swim gear, and let’s go! Typhoon Lagoon reopened today, March 17th — on this day, the hours for Typhoon Lagoon are from 10AM to 5PM. We showed up right at opening and there was already a line of people waiting to get in (don’t worry — this is NOTHING like the lines we see at the theme parks!). Line to get in A 1-day Water Park ticket (without restrictions) is $74 per adult and $68 per child. However, a 1-day Water Park ticket with blockout dates is $64 per adult and $58 per adult. You can also ask about Florida resident tickets and prices. If you purchase a Park Hopper Plus ticket for Disney World, it includes water park admission. Note that in 2025, Disney World hotel guests will get to go to the water parks for FREE on their check-in day. Prices Let’s go inside! Like any other Disney park, Typhoon Lagoon has a theme and a story. A fabled rogue storm struck this tropical region, which was once home to a shrimping industry and a fruit export company. The storm wreaked havoc, tossing a fleet of ships from the sea and blowing pieces of treasure and other debris throughout what is now a water park. Theming is everything at Disney! You’ll see all kinds of Imagineering details as soon as you enter the main gate. Look up in the trees and you’ll see maritime alphabet flags with secret messages. This one says “Piranha in pool!” But hey, we’re sure it’s just FINE… Be sure to check the maritime flags! These maritime flags say, “Surf’s up!” Surf’s up! Need to find your way around? You can check the map! Check the map Looking for fun merchandise? You’ll find some exclusive Typhoon Lagoon merchandise in the shop, like this fun Stitch Shirt. Stitch Shirt Speaking of Stitch, we ran into Stitch meeting people and posing for photos! It’s Stitch! So what kind of attractions are available at Typhoon Lagoon? There’s a water coaster called the Crush ‘N’ Gusher, six water slides, the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool (a wave pool)… Surf Pool …Castaway Creek (a lazy river)… Lazy river …and Ketchakiddee Creek and Bay Slides for kids. Typhoon Lagoon Of course, you know what we’re really here for are the snacks, right? So we headed on over to Typhoon Tilly’s to get the Dole Whip Bathtub Sundae. It’s definitely SOMETHING. It’s made with Dole Whip Pineapple, Dole Whip Strawberry, and Green Matcha Tea Soft-Serve. Dole Whip Bath tub Sundae We’ll be updating this post THROUGHOUT the day, so stay tuned to DFB for more! It’s widely known as the “Disney World of Gas Stations” for a reason. Buc-ee’s Yes, we’re here today to talk about Buc-ee’s! The iconic gas station was once a Texas-exclusive, but is now spreading like wildfire all over the southeast. What makes it so iconic, you ask? Well, for one — it’s HUGE. In true Texas fashion, it’s bigger than all its competitors and boasts over 100 gas pumps at most locations, car washes, roomy and clean restrooms, and so much food, snacks, and merchandise that it’s almost overwhelming. The chain has gone viral in recent years for the food, and while we’d had a few things here and there on roadtrips, we felt it was time to do an actual REVIEW now that a Buc-ee’s is being built in Central Florida. So, put on your stretchy pants, fasten your seatbelts, and let’s go to Buc-ee’s! Before we get into the whole food ordeal, let’s go inside and take a look around, shall we? The inside of the store is HUGE and has several different sections based on the type of snack you’re hoping to grab. There are coolers in the center that have fruit cups, cookie dough bites, cold sandwiches, chicken salad, and more. Buc-ee’s There’s also a sweets counter where you can get gourmet pecans, almonds, and cashews as well as FUDGE. There’s a separate bakery section where you can get a wide variety of baked goods, from cinnamon rolls to giant slices of cake. Buc-ee’s We can’t forget about the jerky wall! There are quite a few flavors of jerky that’s made fresh at Buc-ee’s. Buc-ee’s There are also several drink machines and even a coffee bar where you can grab refillable styrofoam cups and take your pick. Buc-ee’s While there are lots of grab-and-go options, you can also opt for a hot meal that’s made just for you. They restock them at the counter every few minutes so that they’re always fresh, BUT you can also ask for them to make you a brand new one. We watched people do both. Tacos and Burritos Now, let’s get ready to GRUB! Keep in mind that if you visit Buc-ee’s, there isn’t any seating inside for you to eat. All of this is intended to be roadtrip food, so we’re going to include how easy each item is to eat while driving or sitting in the car as part of the review. Let’s go! Some of the food we’ll be trying! First up, we’re going to try one of the most popular options: the Fried Chicken Sandwich for $6.99. It’s a basic fried chicken breast on a plain bun with some sauce. Sometimes simple is the key. Buc-ee’s Fried Chicken Sandwich The sauce REALLY reminds us of Chick-fil-A sauce, but maybe a little sweeter. The chicken is still really crispy and fresh-tasting despite the fact that this is a grab-and-go option that had been sitting out for several minutes. The chicken itself is super dense but in a good way — it feels hearty and like REAL chicken rather than something processed. Fried Chicken Sandwich If it was more convenient, we’d probably choose this over a Chick-fil-A sandwich. It’s good, and it’s easy to eat without making a mess. Next, let’s try the Sliced Brisket Sandwich for $8.49. Brisket Sandwich This didn’t look that great to me, so I was a little nervous to try it. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The first thing you notice is the sweet, smoky flavor of the sauce, which is delicious. Brisket Sandwich The meat is nice and tender, but is a bit dry for my liking. The sauce really helps and redeems it. The bread is just a regular ol’ bun! It’s soft and doesn’t take away from the star of the show — the brisket. This is the BEST OPTION if you’re opting for something that’s delicious but still neat enough to eat while driving. It makes zero mess. The next sandwich we’re trying is the Club Melt for $8.49. Club Melt This is the thing that at first bite I was like, “Wow, this is a great option for picky eaters!” The sweet bun is literally DELICIOUS with the ham, bacon, and the turkey. Plus, the sauce is super sweet and just adds to the whole thing. But then comes the spice! The sauce has a slow, sweet heat that I really enjoyed. Club Melt This basically tastes like Hawaiian Roll ham sliders with a kick. The only downside is that in true melt fashion, this is super messy. Like, look at all that SAUCE. If you’re riding shotgun, this might be an OK option, but if you’re driving, it’s a no-go. You and your steering wheel will be lost in the sauce. Now, let’s try a BURRITO! The Texas Cheesesteak Burrito is $8.28 and is loaded in flavor and ingredients. BURRITO TIME The meat literally melts in your mouth and tastes amazing with the onions, peppers, and of course — the cheese. The flour tortilla is super thin and it kind of caused the burrito to fall apart, but I really liked that soft, chewy texture with the meat and the crunch of the veggies. Texas Cheesesteak Burrito This is another option that probably isn’t safe if you’re driving but could be okay if you’re just sitting in the car. Next up, we’re trying the Pulled Pork Sandwich for $7.49. It’s moist and juicy, and you can really taste the smoke in it. It doesn’t have a lot of that bark — the glazed edge that we were hoping for, but this is still really great. It has a really hefty amount of meat on the sandwich for the price, which is awesome. Pulled Pork Sandwich It does stay together pretty well as you eat it, and it pairs well with our next item… BEAVER CHIPS! Beaver Chips are Buc-ee’s house-made potato chips, and we were really excited to try them. They come in a paper bag for $2.79 each. Beaver Chips These are actually SO good! They remind us a lot of the chips from Jolly Holiday in Disneyland. They could use a biiiiit more salt but they do have a really nice crunch. They’re served in a CUP inside the bag, so you aren’t actually getting a bag full of chips like it may seem. They’re not too thick, too thin, or too oily. They complement the sandwiches well. As another option for some crunchy sides, we have the Beaver Nuggets for $4.98. They have various flavors, but we went with the traditional ones. Beaver Nuggets These are GOOD. They’re very sweet and have a similar flavor to Cracker Jacks but with an airier texture like a corn puff. The outside is pretty caramelized and has that *gets stuck in your teeth* feeling — so if you don’t like that, don’t try these! Beaver Nuggets They’re very light and easy to eat one after the other, so they’re a dangerous road trip snack. Now, it’s time to talk DESSERTS! First up, we tried the Assorted Fudge, which comes in a box of 12 pieces for $15.12. The flavors of the fudge aren’t aren’t listed on the box (or they weren’t listed on ours) so it’s really a surprise! HOLY FUDGE! These were honestly all really good and I don’t even like chocolate all that much. There’s one that I knew without a doubt was a caramel pecan one, and it was absolutely delicious. There’s also another that’s a BANANA. PUDDING. ONE. And it’s the best fudge I have ever put in my mouth. It tastes like ‘nanas and Nilla Wafers. That’s all you need to know. FUDGE! This is like a road trip game in itself because you have no idea what you’re eating. It’s a delicious game, though! Next, we tried the Cinnamon Roll for $3.49. Imagine this: Buc-ee walks into the ring to duke it out with Gaston. Bucee puts the SMACK. DOWN. on Gaston. Yes, Bucees has the better cinnamon roll. A Gas station cinnamon roll. Cinnamon Roll It’s not at all dry, has a good cake-like texture, and the middle of the roll is perfectly gooey with that cinnamon-butter mixture and that melty icing. YASSSSS (Pro tip: ask them to heat it for you at the counter instead of gettiing a grab-and-go one.) Next, we tried the Buc-ee’s Red Velvet Whoopie Pie for $2.99. Red Velvet Whoopie Pie This is very dense yet pillowy at the same time. It’s a great bang for your buck, and it holds together extremely well. It’s definitely driver-safe! Red Velvet Whoopie Pie The cream cheese icing flavor packs a huge punch and shines through the red velvet flavor. As for the cake itself, it’s neither dry nor moist. It just kind of exists! It’s very good, though. Similar to this one is the Birthday Cake Whoopie Pie for $2.99. Birthday Cake Whoopie Pie It’s a bit messier than the other, as the icing has a tendency to want to shoot out the sides. The icing really reminded us of a grocery store cupcake but it’s really good. Second place: Birthday Cake Whoopie Pie The cookies/cake on the sides are thinner than the red velvet one, so this one comes in second place as far as whoopie pies go. Last but not least, we tried the Cookie Dough Bites for $2.99! They come in grab-and-go cups. Ours had seven bites inside. Cookie Dough Bites The dough is kind of sticky but they don’t get all over your hands. They do tend to kind of fall apart, but that could be because there’s no raw egg to hold them together like in typical cookie dough. They’re very yummy and taste similar to the delicious Pilsbury cookie dough. Well folks, there you have it. Would you believe us if we told you that this isn’t even HALF of all the food you can grab from Buc-ee’s? Yep! There’s plenty more where that came from. All in all, it’s a great, safe, convenient stop on any road trip and we’re so excited that one is coming close to Disney World. NONE of the food disappointed — it was all delicious in its own way. The value is great too. Who knows — maybe we’ll have to drop into the Florida location once it’s complete to try even more! Are you planning your next trip to Disney World? All-Star Resorts When it comes to that planning, choosing where you’re going to rest your head is crucial. The great thing about Disney World property is that you have a lot of options for where to stay, including hotels for lower budgets. Any way you slice it, you have to weigh the pros and cons carefully. To that end, let’s dive into what might just be the biggest headache you’ll be dealing with if you opt to stay at Disney World’s cheapest resorts — transportation. So, you’re thinking about booking a stay at one of Disney World’s budget-friendly All-Star resorts? Well, we’ve got to talk, because there’s one big thing you’ve got to know about before you book your room — transportation. Trust me, it’s not all pixie dust and magic when it comes to getting around Disney World from these cheaper digs. Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort Let’s talk about the transportation scene at the All-Star resorts. Far, FAR Away Picture this (Star Wars fans will get this reference): you’re all excited to hit up the parks, but then you realize your All-Star resort is basically on the other side of the Disney Galaxy from all the main spots. All-Star Movies Yep, these digs are nestled a bit further out from most of the action, meaning you’re looking at some decent travel time just to reach the parks. Buses, Buses, Buses Depending on where you stay on Disney property you can be within walking distance of the Skyliner or Monorail, which are both pretty convenient ways to travel between the parks and resorts. That’s not the case with the All-Star Resorts. Disney bus Say hello to your main form of transport — the Disney buses. They’re not too shabby, but they’re definitely the workhorse of transportation here. Expect to wait a bit for them to swing by, and if it’s peak time, you might find yourself standing for the entire ride. All-Star Movies Also, the bus may make multiple stops on the way. Time Might Not Be On Your Side So, how long does it take to get from your All-Star pad to, say, the Magic Kingdom? Just go ahead and plan on the trip being around 20-30 minutes, give or take. EPCOT might clock in at a similar time. Bus stop at All-Star Movies You know what? You might as well just assume that trying to travel to any of the four parks could take anywhere from 15 to 35 minutes, depending on traffic and such. Keep this in mind especially if you’re trying to make it in time for various reservations. Other Options Now, if you’re not vibing with the whole Disney bus scene, you’ve got a couple of other tricks up your sleeve. Bringing your own car or renting one could be a game-changer. It’ll give you the freedom to zip around as you please. Don’t forget to factor parking fees into your budget! Also, rideshare services like Lyft or Uber can be pretty convenient to get around Disney World if you’re willing to pay for the rides. You’ll just have to keep in mind that surge pricing could also be a factor and if you plan to skip the buses altogether, renting a car for your trip could be cheaper than multiple rideshares each day. Disney World Rideshare sign So, there you have it. Staying at the All-Star Resorts can be a fantastic way to save money on your Disney World trip. However, you’ll have to be aware of the transportation limitations. If battling bus crowds and longer travel times isn’t your idea of a magical vacation, you might want to consider a different Disney resort with alternative transportation options. Typhoon Lagoon The water park has been closed since November 2023 while Disney worked on some refurbishments and spruced up the place. While the park was closed, visitors could instead go to Blizzard Beach Water Park, but Blizzard Beach will be closing the same day Typhoon Lagoon opens! There have been menu updates at Typhoon Lagoon ahead of its opening! Even though Typhoon Lagoon is opening, several other Disney World attractions remain closed. Keep reading to find out what will be closed the week of March 17th through the 23rd! Magic Kingdom Country Bear Jamboree Country Bear Jamboree closed on January 27th, 2024 for refurbishment. Country Bear Jamboree Disney announced that a NEW show is coming to Country Bear Jamboree, with the bears learning an all-new act. The new show is set to open sometime this summer. Find out more about how Country Bear Jamboree is changing! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Splash Mountain is permanently closed — this ride is being renovated to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! The new ride will be themed to The Princess and the Frog. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure We recently learned lots of new information about this ride, including a hint that there will be Splash Mountain Easter Eggs throughout the attraction! Splashdown Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open this summer in Disney World! Is this a clue that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening soon? If you miss Splash Mountain or want to celebrate the new ride, you should check out our DFB t-shirts! We have a Splash Mountain Farwell Tour shirt… DFB Exclusive! …and a Tiana tee as well! Check out our new Tiana-inspired merch! You can shop both tees (and lots of other Disney merch) at our online store. Click here to shop our DFB merchandise store. With Country Bear Jamboree and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closed, that leaves just Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Walt Disney World Railroad open in Frontierland. The Barrel Bridge The Barrel Bridge is still missing from Tom Sawyer Island, and there’s no word on when it might return. Barrel Bridge Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that’s remained closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace dining room Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. Forget everything you’ve been told. These are the Magic Kingdom restaurants that are worth the money! EPCOT Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is still closed in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when it might reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh The restaurant is kind of open right now — it’s functioning as a lounge with just a couple of drink options. However, we’re still waiting for the full restaurant to reopen! The restaurant’s website looks normal, so we still don’t know if it is permanently closed or if it could reopen. This EPCOT dining hack just changed our lives Disney’s Hollywood Studios Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closed on January 8th, it won’t reopen until the summer of this year. Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Although we don’t have an exact reopening date yet, we know that it’ll be at least a few months before the ride reopens. Last year, when the ride closed around this time (on February 20th, to be exact), it reopened on May 26th. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Well, it’s official — Voyage of the Little Mermaid is permanently closed in Disney World. We had suspected this was the case for some time (as it hasn’t actually been open for a few years now), but now the permanent closure has been confirmed. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a NEW show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024. ©Disney It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” Is it weird that these Hollywood Studios bathrooms make us hungry? Disney World Hotels 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, 1900 Park Fare has been closed for a long time, but Disney has finally announced an opening date and BIG changes coming soon! ©Disney 1900 Park Fare will reopen with NEW dining offerings starting April 10th, 2024. It’s been confirmed that one of the signature menu items here — the Floridian Strawberry Soup — will RETURN! New characters will be available to meet at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Aladdin in his Prince Ali look, Mirabel, and Tiana in her new look for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will all be present. ©Disney For breakfast and dinner, you’ll be able to enjoy a buffet meal. There will be new menu offerings available that pay homage to the new characters and their stories. You can now begin to make reservations to enjoy this popular restaurant! Disney just dropped the FULL MENU for 1900 Park Fare! Fuentes del Morro Pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort The Fuentes del Morro Pool is the most popular pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. The pool is themed to look like a colonial Spanish fortress and has two waterslides (including one that’s over a hundred feet long!), water spray cannons, and a shipwreck play area for the little kiddos. construction at the pool Fuentes del Morro is currently closed, and it’ll remain closed through late March of this year, so hopefully just a couple more weeks. The closure is for routine maintenance, which we often see at Disney’s hotel pools during the winter months. If you’re staying at Caribbean Beach, are you just out of luck? Don’t worry! You can still visit any of the five leisure pools at this hotel. There’s one leisure pool at each village. Doubloon Lagoon Pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter Doubloon Lagoon at Port Orleans — French Quarter has a 51-foot long water slide that looks like a sea serpent, a whirlpool spa, and Mardi Gras decorations. The pool closed in January and will stay closed through April 2024. Doubloon pool If you’re staying at French Quarter and want to take a swim, head over to Ol’ Man Island at Port Orleans — Riverside, which you can easily walk to from French Quarter. Ol’ Man Island is actually a pool complex! The pool area there has waterfalls, a 95-foot waterslide, a whirlpool, and a kiddie pool. This year is flying by, so can you really blame us if we’re already looking ahead toward the end of 2024? EPCOT While there are some EXCELLENT choices when you’re deciding which days to visit Disney World in 2024, some days you’re better off staying home. While it might seem like a ways away, if you’re planning on visiting in or around November, you should be prepared for one week when an entire state takes over Disney World! Known as Jersey Week, each year in the fall, New Jerseyans flood Disney World for a specific week.In 2024, that week will take place the first full week of November. Magic Kingdom Jersey Week is the result of the New Jersey Education Association’s teacher convention on November 7th and 8th, 2024. The convention features professional seminars, workshops, and programs for teachers and educational support professionals. Most importantly as it pertains to Disney World, schools are closed from Monday, November 4th to Friday, November 8th, 2024. Naturally, families tend to leave the cold of The Garden State during this time in favor of the Florida tropical climate and Disney experience. The influx of New Jersey families to Disney World during this week has garnered a pretty big reputation over the years for creating some pretty big crowds — despite falling in between Halloween and the Holiday season. If you can avoid this week, we recommend doing so. Watch for crowded times of the year. We’ll continue to bring you Disney World updates throughout the year, so stay tuned here at DFB for all the latest! 10 Weeks When Disney World Will Be EMPTY in 2024 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Disneyland has its share of iconic rides, being the OG Disney Park. Soarin at California Adventure You can’t deny that the classic versions of rides like “it’s a small world” and Pirates of the Caribbean hit differently on the West Coast, right? Well, we could probably say the same about Soarin’ Over California, which recently returned to Disney California Adventure for the Food and Wine Festival there. Well, that ride just got even MORE iconic thanks to a recent celebrity appearance. Okay, so if you’ve ridden Soarin’, you’ve seen the video pre-show that includes a flight attendant named Patrick. Well, that flight attendant is portrayed by actor Patrick Warburton (who is also the voice of Kronk in The Emperor’s New Groove). Well, Warburton recently surprised Soarin’ riders by turning up AT the ride to give the safety presentation IN PERSON. ©Disney Y’all, we would’ve seriously lost our minds. He showed up in costume AND EVERYTHING. He’s been the voice and face of Soarin’ for more than 20 years, but to see him there in person, just WOW. Check out the video below of Warburton surprising fans. Warburton seemed to be having a lot of fun with it, too. He said, “Getting to surprise guests today was super fun, and it’s great to see the impact that this safety intro has made for the past 23 years and how people still love it. It was such a blast getting to be the Chief Flight Attendant for Soarin’ Over California once again!” Soarin’ Over California Soarin’ Over California is currently back in California Adventure for a limited time, so if you want to check it out, you’ll need to be there no later than April 22nd. After that, it will return to Soarin’ Around The World, where you’ll once more get to see the Leaning Eiffel Tower of Paris (if you know, you know). Soarin’ is also available at EPCOT in Disney World (which also recently had a run with Soarin’ Over California). Stay tuned to DFB for more. I DIDN’T MEAN TO! I swear. I didn’t mean to break the rules during my time as a Disney World Cast Member, but I did. And I got in a teensy bit of trouble for it. Cinderella Castle Cast Members have to abide by a lot of rules that a lot of folks probably don’t even think about. I mean, in the story I’m about to tell you, I didn’t even think about it and realize I was breaking a rule until it was a done deal. If you’re new to reading my Cast Member posts, I was a Disney College Program participant and was lucky enough to be placed at the Haunted Mansion. Yessirree, I used to be a Mansion Maid! Okay, I’ll quit stalling now. Here’s the embarrassing tale of how I broke the rules as a baby Cast Member! Here’s the situation. As Cast Members, you get a pretty snazzy discount on hotel rooms. This makes staycations a highlight of any Cast Member’s time working for the Mouse! Well, I had booked a room at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and was STOKED — because my (then) fiance and his family were coming to visit for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I had all my plans in line and all my ducks in a row when I discovered that there was a problem with my reservation — right as I was headed to work the day my ressies started. Coronado Springs Resort I swung by Coronado Springs to check in for my reservation (because of the Cast Member discount snafu), and I was rocking my trusty Haunted Mansion maid skirt because I was on the way to work. BUT I didn’t yet have on the iconic blouse, apron, bat, or my nametag. It’s HOT in Florida, so I waited until the last minute to put on all the garb. So, I headed in to check in for my reservation in the green skirt, Doc Marten boots, and a gray tank top. Totally innocent, right? WROOOOOOONG. Coronado Springs Apparently, even just the skirt itself is iconic enough for any Cast Member to recognize the Haunted Mansion costume a mile away (maybe not a mile, but definitely across the lobby). Let’s just say I got a friendly (but firm enough that I got a little sweaty and teary-eyed) reminder about the costume rule I had unintentionally broken. Coronado Springs Here’s the thing: they did tell us we could wear our costumes to and from work, as long as we ditched the nametags, but what I didn’t know (again, newbie Cast Member, remember?) was that Magic Kingdom has specific, non-universal costumes. This means you can only wear them within that land inside Magic Kingdom. And guess what? That rule extends to wearing them outside of the park too, as long as you’re on Disney World property. Coronado Springs Now, here’s where it gets interesting. If I had decided to stop for gas in my full-blown mansion maid getup (sans nametag), that would’ve been A-OK, but a casual stroll through Coronado Springs? Not so much. The incredible Joel! Let me emphasize that this was a completely unintentional rule break! It never happened again, and honestly, I never thought a long green skirt could be so recognizable. But hey, lesson learned! Cast Members are the BEST So, there you go. If you’ve ever wondered about some of the rules Cast Members have to follow even when off work, now you know. Happy Spring, DFB readers! EPCOT Well, it feels like spring is coming where we are — the temperatures are warming up and the pollen is starting to come back in full force, which means we’re buying lots of tissues at the store. It also means that EPCOT is well underway celebrating the Flower & Garden Festival! If you’re heading to the park soon to celebrate it, though, we need to warn you — something has CHANGED. While you’re exploring all the food and beautiful topiaries the festival has to offer, you can also pay $9.99 to play a super fun (and adorable) scavenger hunt — Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration! Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration Map We played the game on the first day of the festival, and when we returned our game board, our prize was getting to choose a miniature game of corn hole. You had your choice between sets featuring Spike the Bee, Coco, EPCOT logo, or Orange Bird. Mini Corn Hole We LOVED this prize, but now it’s CHANGED! Now if you complete the scavenger hunt and return it to one of the four locations where you can get your prize (Creations, World Traveler, Port of Entry, or Disney Traders), you’ll receive a cute Orange Bird Magnet as your prize. Orange Bird Magnet Prize We aren’t quite sure why this prize changed, but it could be because they ran out of the corn hole sets and have this prize as a backup. We’re really hoping they’ve ordered more of the mini corn hole sets and they return before the end of the festival, but there’s no guarantee of that. New magnet! The Flower & Garden festival has TWO scavenger hunts for you to participate in — Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration and the limited-time Egg-Stravaganza Scavenger Hunt. That’s two opportunities for two prizes! Don’t miss out on all the fun at the 2024 Flower & Garden Festival. Check out everything you need to know about this year’s Flower and Garden Festival! What we love about Disney World is the attention to detail. Main Street, U.S.A. We see it on the rides, in the little details just walking through the parks, with the characters, and more. Even the Cast Member costumes are themed to the area or ride Cast Members are working (like, is any outfit more iconic than the Haunted Mansion Cast Member costumes?). Well, now, Cast Members who work in Magic Kingdom are getting a new look! Disney World just recently revealed NEW outfits for Cast Members who work on Main Street, U.S.A. Now this part of Magic Kingdom has a very turn-of-the-century vibe, so the new costumes still reflect that. But these costumes are also made with lightweight, breathable fabrics AND made from recyclable materials. ©Disney We asked a Cast Member, Jamie, at the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. for a few more details on these costumes and found out that the costumes are mostly made up of interchangeable pieces, so each Cast Member can put together their own look. The costumes aren’t referred to as “men’s” or “women’s,” either. Disney World Cast Members at The Confectionery The dresses are known as Costume A and are interchangeable with a pink or green top. Costume B is the pants, which can be worn with the long-sleeved shirt with the tie. There’s also a short sleeve button down shirt with thin striping and a dark green bow tie. All of these options can be switched out and combined in multiple ways. One thing that’s different now, though, is that the previous pants provided a suspenders option, but the new pants only allow for belts. So the next time you visit Main Street, U.S.A., be sure to let the Cast Members know how sharp they look in their new gear! Stay tuned to DFB for more! Check Out Mickey and Minnie’s NEWEST OUTFITS! Here at Disney Food Blog, we like to keep it real. We give credit where credit is due. Yes, we have a team full of former Cast Members, Disney park EXPERTS, and Annual Passholders. But even those of us who go to Disney World *literally* every single day still find new and exciting things that we HAVE to share. Today, we owe our excitement to a DFB reader! EPCOT We love to share any kind of lunch secrets, dining hacks, and reservation changes that we come across. We’ve told you how to avoid a major food fiasco and how to join a walk-up waitlist, but today, we’re telling you something even better. Buckle up. First, we should give you a little context. We recently shared a tip on how to find some SECRET indoor seating in EPCOT. Whether you’re looking for a place to enjoy a little meal OUT of the heat, or you just want to get off your feet for a moment, this secret location is a DFB favorite. You can click HERE to see the original secret seating story. Mexico pavilion in EPCOT As it turns out, we uncovered ANOTHER secret seating location after sharing our story! Thanks to DFB reader Bill G., we’re BACK to tell you about a spot in the U.K. Pavilion you might be walking right past. The Rose & Crown dining room begins service at 4PM, but earlier in the day (typically before 3PM), you can hang out in the dining room WITHOUT a dining reservation. ©Disney We headed straight to EPCOT to see for ourselves. Step one: secure some fish and chips from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop quick-service location next door. Fish & Chips Step two: walk over to the Rose & Crown dining room. After confirming with a Cast Member, the dining room had PLENTY of open seating — in the air conditioning! Let’s go inside! Ta-da! Take a look. This area is normally pretty full when the restaurant officially opens at 4PM, but during the day, you can relax inside without a dinner reservation. BRILLIANT! SUCCESS! We’d like to give a MAJOR shoutout to DFB reader Bill G. for the tip! This may be one of our new FAVORITE places to escape the heat and crowds in the World Showcase. Look at all the open seats! You don’t have to bring any food or drinks inside to sit here, but, like we said, this is a great spot to enjoy some fish and chips from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop nearby. This is a great little secret! Next time you’re in EPCOT, make sure to take a break in the A.C. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. SO much is going on in Disney World in March! Raglan Road We’re celebrating Women’s History Month with tons of delicious food. We’re also celebrating Easter with, well, MORE delicious food. Then there’s St. Patrick’s Day. Although Disney World has a ton of snacks to celebrate the day, there’s only ONE big St. Patrick’s Day party you’ll want to go to in Disney World and you don’t even need a park ticket to attend. Every year, Raglan Road, an Irish restaurant in Disney Springs, hosts the Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival to celebrate the most Irish holiday of all. But they don’t celebrate for just one day. Oh no…the festival at Raglan Road lasts from March 14th through 17th. Mighty St. Patrick’s Day Festival That’s four days to enjoy some delicious Raglan Road food while also listening to some top bands directly from Ireland, including Téada and Strings & Things. But there’s way more to the entertainment than just those two bands. Here’s all the entertainment you’ll get to enjoy during the Mighty Festival: Téada — One of Ireland’s top Traditional bands Strings & Things –Traditional, Folk, and Roots crossover band from Tipperary and Galway. Men of Aran — A group that has toured, performed, and recorded with many Irish music luminaries Echoes of Burren — Award-winning duo from the West of Ireland The Connemara Ramblers — Dynamic fiddler and guitarist, as well as vocalists, from Ireland’s west coast Northern Crossing — Three-piece traditional Irish music ensemble from Glasgow, Downpatrick, and Belfast Raglan Road Irish Dancers — Dancers from casts of world-famous Irish dance shows Live music and Irish Dancers at Raglan Road in Disney Springs While you’re celebrating, you can also enjoy the Signature Brew Flight, Whiskey Flight, or other craft beers, wines, and cocktails. Of course, there’s the Raglan Road food to dig into, as well as some authentic Fish & Chips (we can verify that the Fish & Chips are DELICIOUS). Fish and Chips at Raglan Road If you do plan on attending this celebration, you’ll probably want to make dining reservations for March 14th, 15th, and 16th. However, on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, Raglan Road will open at 11AM with a $20 cover charge for everyone who is 18 and older (kids get in free) on a first-come first-serve basis.
