  2. Disney World is FULL of magical moments! Cinderella Castle No matter where you’re looking, you’re bound to see something sweet happen. Whether it’s a guest making magic for another guest or a Cast Member making the magic — it always feels SO special. We sometimes get to share our stories with you, so this time we wanted to hear YOUR stories. We asked about your magical moments, and your stories were so heartwarming that we couldn’t help but share a few of them. We took to Facebook and asked you guys to share some of your favorite nostalgic/cute/wholesome memories in the Disney parks with us, and WOW, y’all blew our expectations out of the water. We found ourselves smiling ear to ear while reading these, so let’s talk about them! Meeting Characters It isn’t Disney World without character meet and greets. A lot of the stories shared with us involved character interactions, and it made our hearts melt. Eeyore One story that really stood out to us was “When I was little I got chosen to wear a Mickey cape and sorcerer hat and dance with a whole bunch of characters including Eeyore, in the parade at Disneyland. I will never forget that”. This opportunity sounds rare, to begin with, but it also seems like it includes rare characters — what a WHOLESOME moment. Mickey and Minnie Sometimes, these character interactions really stay with us long after they’re over. One person commented, “Mickey Mouse signed my son’s hat ‘Your pal, Mickey Mouse’. For the rest of the trip, he kept saying ‘Mickey Mouse is my pal’.” We love how this moment just stayed with them, and YES, Mickey Mouse IS your pal! Fireworks The fireworks displays are such a magical experience by themselves. However, there are also moments during those displays that can add to them and make them a lasting memory. Magic Kingdom Fireworks Sometimes, riding rides during fireworks shows can be a great way to skip long lines. It looks like this family knew that trick! They said, “Riding the Astro Orbiter our first night at [Magic Kingdom] with the fireworks shooting in the background –my kids still talk about this night.” This creates a rare vantage point to enjoy these shows and sounds like it was such a fun time. Happily Ever After Another sweet experience during the fireworks shows made us cry happy tears. They shared, “It started raining in MK during the fireworks; people started to leave, and the crowd started to thin, but my husband and I were one of the few who stayed back. We had space to dance and jump and feel the Disney magic in the rain. It was our anniversary trip, and it became so much more magical!” Moments like this are SO sweet, and being able to experience these shows while having low crowds is rare. We’re so glad you have that memory! Engagements It’s hard to go to Disney World and not see a proposal happen — and we are here for it! This is such a huge moment for the people involved; it is so special. Cinderella Castle We got so many little blurbs about people’s proposals! People mentioned proposing in front of the Tree of Life and even getting proposed to at Fort Wilderness after an archery lesson. Both of these moments sound so sweet and so special! This is a pretty place to propose! Someone shared a heartwarming story that really shows how special Disney is to them, “One year our son got to say ‘All Aboard!’ on the Walt Disney World Railroad. He also got to start the trains in Germany one morning. Last month, the same son proposed to his future wife at the wishing well by the castle!!!” Having those memories from childhood sounds like they were SO magical, and continuing to make those memories now with their partner, is so heartwarming! Congratulations to everyone . Kids Experiencing Rides Sometimes, you never know how kids will react when it comes to going on a ride for the first time. It looks like some of our reader’s kids are true daredevils and had a GREAT experience! Hollywood Studios For example, “Last year, our son was 5, and we took him on Tower of Terror. He was seated between my husband and I, and we both had our arms on him to ‘hold him in.’ After the first drop, he pushed our arms away and threw his arms right up in the air! A little thrill ride enthusiast was born!” Honestly, this is very relatable. Tower of Terror can be scary, but we are SO glad that even some kiddos enjoy it as much as we do. Expedition Everest We LOVE hearing the stories about kiddos enjoying rides. One reader shared, “My five-year-old daughter never met a coaster she didn’t like. We got to ride everything on her first visit, including Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom. Twice. A year later, when we told her we’d be returning to Animal Kingdom for a visit, she said she hoped they fixed the roller coaster by then.” We also want the yeti to be fixed, so we can hope together! Honorable Mentions We got so many wholesome comments, and it was so hard to pick and choose which ones to include. So, here are a few that didn’t quite fit into any category but made us audibly say “Awww!”. Pin Trading Board This story comes from a former Cast Member! They commented, “I nearly cried when I complimented a guest’s pin and she took it right off her vest and gave it to me! It was such a sweet and kind gesture and really made my day! I still have the pin, even though it happened ten years ago, and will never ever trade it! :’)” This just goes to show that guests can also make magic for Cast Members and that they will sometimes carry those moments with them for a decade. The Dapper Dans are ICONIC Finally, we have a moment that was a whole family affair and is something that sounds unforgettable! “I remember on our very first trip, back in the mid-70s, I am one of four girls, and my sisters and I used to sing together for different clubs and organizations. We sang a lot of barbershop harmonies. Anyway, when we went to Walt Disney World we got to meet and chat with the Dapper Dans. We then got to sing with them in the barbershop. It’s been so many years, and I honestly don’t remember what we sang, but I do remember that it was quite the thrill for this kid!” Being able to sing with the Dapper Dans is something that we couldn’t even imagine, and this experience sounds so special. Now, we really need to know if they will still do this. Disney’s Animal Kingdom We LOVE hearing everyone’s magical moments. These are just a few of some very wholesome moments, and we really hope you guys continue to share them with us. 4. Calling all Disney World Annual Passholders! We have an important reminder that might affect your upcoming vacation! Annual Pass Disney is currently remodeling some popular accommodations, and the newly updated rooms are going to open on July 1st, 2024. Lots of people are going to want to book these updated rooms, but Passholders get access to booking a full day EARLY, before reservations open to the general public. You’ll want to make sure you’re on time so you don’t miss your chance to reserve your spot! Disney is remodeling the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, and the newly updated rooms look really fun. New Fort Wilderness DVC Cabins ©Disney The Cabins will now be a Disney Vacation Club Resort, but you don’t have to be a DVC member to book a spot. DVC members do get advanced booking — DVC booking opens today, March 19th — but Annual Passholders can book starting TOMORROW, March 20th! Bookings open to the general public on March 21st. Annual Pass Card To make your reservation, call Disney at (407) 934-7639. Keep in mind that the phone line might be pretty busy if a lot of people are trying to make reservations at the same time, so you may have to wait on hold for a while. Disney noted that just the first “loop” of cabins will be opening on July 1st, and more loops will open throughout the year. In total, over 350 cabins will be remodeled with updated features and new decor! The new cabins are “inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling.” ©Disney Inside the cabins, there’s a full kitchen area, complete with a full-sized fridge, an oven and range, a microwave, and a dining room table. ©Disney The living area has a sofa and chair, with a TV on the wall. That sofa sits in front of a Murphy bed! ©Disney Here’s what the Murphy bed looks like when it’s pulled down. ©Disney Over in the bathroom, it looks like there’s a main bathroom area with a vanity and a separate water closet on the side. ©Disney The bedroom has a large bed and a bunk bed as well! ©Disney See those oars on the side of the bunk bed? Disney has said that their designs are inspired by Mickey and his pals! We can totally see the resemblance. ©Disney Don’t forget to set your alarms for tomorrow so that you can reserve your spot at these new cabins. 6. The Walt Disney Company’s recent proxy battle has been an arduous process, but CEO Bob Iger just got a pretty hefty reinforcement in the form of a massive endorsement. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters With the Disney shareholders’ virtual meeting quickly approaching on April 3rd, 2024, activist investor Nelson Peltz, former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo, and Trian Partners’ attempt to control two Board of Directors seats has been met by a fierce political-like campaign from current Disney brass. That campaign was strengthened on Tuesday when Disney and Iger got a resounding endorsement from its largest individual shareholder. Star Wars creator George Lucas, who sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, provided a written statement urging shareholders to reject the bid by Peltz and Rasulo while supporting Iger and his vision for the future of the company. ©Disney Per the Los Angeles Times and other sources, Lucas wrote: “Creating magic is not for amateurs. When I sold Lucasfilm just over a decade ago, I was delighted to become a Disney shareholder because of my long-time admiration for its iconic brand and Bob Iger’s leadership. When Bob recently returned to the company during a difficult time, I was relieved. No one knows Disney better. I remain a significant shareholder because I have full faith and confidence in the power of Disney and Bob’s track record of driving long-term value. I have voted all of my shares for Disney’s 12 directors and urge other shareholders to do the same.” ©Disney While Lucas’ relationship with The Walt Disney Company has had its ups and downs since Disney acquired Lucasfilm, he made it a point in his statement to highlight his approval of Disney’s transition of leadership from Bob Chapek to Bob Iger. As of Tuesday, it appears Iger still maintains Lucas’ vote of confidence during a pivotal juncture. Meanwhile, all indications point to Peltz and Jay Rasulo continuing their attempt to claim the board seats on April 3rd in, what they call, an effort to provide “independent voices in the boardroom.” ©Getty Images We’ll keep you posted on further updates from this proxy battle ahead of the April 3rd shareholders meeting, so stay tuned here at DFB for all the latest! 7. Magic Kingdom’s first launch coaster debuted in 2023 with TRON Lightcycle / Run and folks have been entering the grid ever since. TRON Lightcycle / Run The ride is clearly popular — the virtual queues often fill up within minutes, and we’ve seen the Individual Lightning Lane for the attraction sell out time and time again. And, while we agree that the ride is pretty spectacular — boarding TRON gives us major anxiety sometimes. Here’s why. One of the coolest things about TRON is the ride vehicle — riders board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles and “launch into the Grid for a race through a dark, computerized world” reaching speeds up to 59 miles per hour! You’re essentially in a position as if you were riding a motorcycle, and let’s just say — things can get a bit awkward during the boarding process. TRON Lightcycle / Run When you go to board the Lightcycles, there aren’t many indicators of just how you’re supposed to do it. Disney does play a video throughout the standby queue giving you an idea of how to board, but if you miss it or go via the Lightning Lane, you might not be paying attention. You’ll need to get up early to nab a ride on this one Most of us aren’t used to walking in between Disney ride vehicles, because at most rides you’re expressly forbidden from doing so. And, it’s not exactly easy to climb over the Lightcycle closest to you just to get to the one on the far side. But, walking between the ride vehicles is the right thing to do here. But, let’s assume you have figured it out and are taking your seat. To us, the process felt really rushed. One of our team members rode TRON for the first time recently and by the time she realized how to actually get onto her Lightcycle, it looked like everyone else was already seated and she felt flustered. TRON Loading Area Let’s not even mention the fact that there are no seatbelts on TRON. Instead, an arm comes up from the back to secure you in place along with leg restraints. Because this ride vehicle is so different from others we’re used to in Disney World, it’s not as intuitive and does require a bit of a learning curve. And, unfortunately, from our experience the Cast Members can sometimes add to the chaos by trying to keep things moving. Of course, if you truly need help a Cast Member will be happy to do so! TRON Luckily, Disney does have a ride vehicle stationed outside the ride so you can see how to get on and how it’ll feel, but that doesn’t help when it comes to actually boarding the ride. The next time you go to ride TRON, just remember that it’s okay to walk in between the ride vehicles to get to the far Lightcycle, and remember that it’s okay to take your time when your safety is on the line! TRON Lightcycle / Run Stay tuned to DFB as we continue to bring you the latest updates from Disney World! 13. It looks like Disney may be up to something Disney’s Animal Kingdom In 2023, we saw some new changes that could possibly be coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While we know the land will be changing, we don’t know what will take its place yet. We have gotten to see some concept art, hear what the plans would be, and have been left on our own to theorize about what could possibly be happening at the park. But based on a new permit filed, it appears things could be happening sooner than we thought or knew! We have been waiting with bated breath for any sort of announcement about what the future looks like for Dinoland, U.S.A. — and it looks like we can finally exhale a little bit. We’ve been waiting for a timeline for a while, and we may finally have a very loose idea of when we could be seeing preparations for the closing of this land — and it could be soon. DinoLand Recently, Disney officially filed a permit with the South Florida Water Management District. While this doesn’t talk about any work being done on the land and no announcements have been made — this looks like it could be the very beginning of the end of Dinoland U.S.A.. Let’s go get that Dino! The permit that was filed was for a trailer compound — generally these areas pop up around construction sights. The permit outlines that this compound will also have parking and utilities for those who will be working on-site. ©SWFMD We know that this isn’t a timeline for the Dinoland, U.S.A. expansion, but we are hoping that this is the first step towards an announcement of what is to come. We don’t know for sure that is what this permit is for, but its proximity to Dinoland gives us hope. ©Disney Dinoland re-theme concept art The concept art for this area was shared at a Destination D23 event in 2023. The land that they shared was called The Tropical Americas and could include experiences inspired by Indiana Jones and Encanto. We haven’t gotten much confirmation about these lands yet, but Disney executives did share that they are planning to go all in on this expansion. DinoLand, U.S.A. Some of the concept art we’ve seen shares beautiful images of color, life, and more. One thing we spotted was Casa Madrial! Casa Madrigal is the house where the Madrigal family lives, and it comes alive with love and magic. We also noticed what could even be a new carousel like the Prince Charming Regal Carousel in Magic Kingdom. There is truly so much that Disney could create in this new land if they use Encanto as their inspiration! Concept art for DinoLand expansion ©Disney We also wonder if the Indiana Jones ride from Disneyland could make its way to this new land! The ride Dinosaur uses a very similar ride design as the popular Indiana Jones ride on the West Coast, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Disney brought that ride to Disney World if they choose to go with the Indiana Jones theming. 18. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is coming to BOTH Disney World and Disneyland Resort! Get ready to go on down the bayou with Tiana and Louis in a newly reimagined version of the old Splash Mountain attraction. We know a LOT of the details about this ride, but there is still so much we can’t WAIT to see when the ride opens. We can’t wait! So, speaking of opening, we know that the ride will open at Walt Disney World in the summer of 2024! That’s VERY soon. We’ve been keeping our eyes on the exterior construction for a loooong time, and over in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is looking AMAZING! But what about Disney World’s West Coast companion, a.k.a. the Disneyland version of the same ride? Well, let’s take a look at the current construction progress! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in both Disneyland park and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom this year! As we mentioned, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in Disney World in the summer of 2024, and “later in 2024” in Disneyland. We still don’t have an exact opening date for either park quite yet, but we’re keeping our eyes and ears open for updates. If you need a little reminder, here’s a preview of what the completed attraction will look like. Model of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at the 2022 D23 Expo Disney revealed that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.” ©Disney Tiana’s Bayou Adventure concept art The story of the attraction picks up during the New Orleans Carnival season, and Tiana is hosting a Mardi Gras Party for the people of New Orleans — the community that has supported her successful restaurant. But — oh no — Tiana realized that the party is “missing a key ingredient,” and she needs help finding it. That’s where WE come in. (Side note: look how much the concept art CHANGED from the original image Disney shared!) Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Concept Art ©Disney Additionally, Disney also shared that PJ Morton (a Grammy Award-Winning musician) will be creating a NEW original song for the ride. Get ready to add a NEW song to your playlist! Grammy Award-winning musician and New Orleans native PJ Morton was tapped to write, arrange and produce an original song for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. PJ will perform on and produce the sessions in New Orleans of all-new arrangements of the song, as well as songs from “The Princess and the Frog” film within the attraction. This artwork features PJ Morton and a critter from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, coming to Magic Kingdom Park in Florida and Disneyland Park in California in 2024. (Disney) Now, let’s talk about the exterior. Disney explained that Tiana wants to further bring the community together as she continues to grow her business, so she started an employee-owned company called Tiana’s Foods. As part of her mission, she’s bought and transformed an old large salt dome (the mountain!). So what you’re looking at is no longer a mountain but instead a salt dome! Here’s a look at the salt dome in Disneyland. It’s coming along, eh? Here’s a look at the Disneyland version of the ride! Here’s a closer look at the top of the salt dome. Do you see what we see? There are FLOWERS on the exterior — FINALLY! It’s looking good! ENHANCE! When you look closely, you can see all the new greenery. Pretty, right? Look — FLOWERS! For comparison, here’s a look at the Disney World version of the salt dome. As you can see, it’s a little further along. Magic Kingdom’s construction is further along! We’re so happy to see Disneyland making some real progress on the attraction! We’ll be sure to check back for more NEW details. 19. So many of us choose to fly when we go to Disney World, which generally means flying into Orlando International Airport. Orlando Airport Most of us are also pretty dutiful in checking airfare prices, looking for deals, and scoring the best prices we can for those flights. That’s where the budget airlines come in. But recently, we’ve noticed a troubling trend. Some budget airlines are cutting routes to Orlando International Airport (MCO). So we have to ask — is this going to continue, and should we be concerned? Let’s take a look at airlines that have cut flights from Orlando. Recently, Spirit Airlines cut all its routes from Raleigh-Durhan International Airport (RDU) to MCO. The route had 53 routes in April 2023, but by November, it had been narrowed down to just 14. It’s likely that there just weren’t enough flyers from RDU to MCO to keep the routes going, especially after the airline is struggling due to a failed merger with JetBlue. Spirit Airlines at Orlando Airport Avelo Airlines also pulled its flights to Orlando from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, according to CBS 17. An Avelo Airlines spokeswoman said, “For these routes, there is a lot of demand from multiple carriers from RDU and our planes are better used on other RDU routes.” ©Orlando International Airport Frontier Airlines is ending flights from Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania to Orlando. The airline is expected to end flights to Orlando from seven other cities later in 2024. This move is likely due to a “network strategy shift.” Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport One airline, Canada’s Lynx Airlines, recently stopped flying EVERYWHERE, including Orlando. The company had previously shown significant growth, but after exploring cost reductions and efforts to be sold or merged, its financial issues had become “too significant to overcome.” ©Lynx Air So what’s going on? Well, with the case of Raleigh-Durham International Airport, it sounds like the competition is just too stiff, and people are choosing other airlines or other ways to get to Orlando. However, it also seems like the budget airlines are struggling financially. Spirit was blindsided when its merger with JetBlue was blocked. Frontier seems to be focusing its efforts on specific markets rather than spreading itself too thin. Orlando International Airport So, do we need to worry about flights to Orlando? Well, it could be harder to get a flight on a budget airline to Orlando, but the larger airlines continue to fly into and out of Orlando every day. Orlando International Airport Some also fear this could keep airfare prices higher, as there will be less competition for flights into and out of Orlando. We’ll have to wait and see how these flight cuts affect things at Orlando International Airport. Are Orlando Airport Flight Delays Caused by Rocket Launches? 20. Driving under the “Walt Disney World” entrance sign produces one of the BEST feelings ever. How can you NOT feel an instant rush of joy when you finally get to Disney World?! You’ve done the research. You booked your dining reservations. You packed your bags. It’s time for the vacation to begin! Welcome to Disney World Now, as much as you may prepare ahead of time, you may still run into a packing problem or two. Maybe you forgot a MagicBand at home. Maybe you left your sunscreen on the bathroom counter. Maybe you underestimated how hot it would be in Florida. We’ve all been there! That’s why we’re here to HELP. Don’t fall for these common Disney World packing LIES. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Lie 1: One umbrella is all you need for your family. NOPE! When you’re stuck in the middle of a random Florida downpour, that one single umbrella you packed as an afterthought isn’t gonna cut it. Whether you’re team poncho or team umbrella (the DFB team is split!), you need one for EVERY. MEMBER. of your group. Trust us — there’s nothing worse than walking around and feeling like a drowned rat. The Florida rain has that effect. Sorry, but this is wishful thinking. Inevitably, those adorable Minnie ears end up in our park bag at some point in the day, but if you’re like us and keep your park bag STUFFED with stuff, you often don’t have extra room for a pair of ears. Luckily, we have a solution! Try using one of these Minnie Ears Headband Holders on Amazon! ©Amazon Attach one of these ear holders to your Loungefly bag or backpack for a simple little ear storage solution! We love HOKA sneakers! ©Amazon These sneakers are some of the comfiest sneakers we’ve EVER worn! The shoes are nice and bouncy, and you have plenty of cushion for a long day on your feet. 21. Okay, it’s time to talk about our favorite thing EVER: Disney food. Magic Kingdom It’s no secret that some of our favorite Disney World food comes from Magic Kingdom. We’ll never not talk about Corn Dog Nuggets at Casey’s Corner or the Cheeseburger Spring Rolls at the Spring Roll Cart. But this time, we’re going to take some time to sit down at Magic Kingdom’s table service restaurants and tell you about our favorite things there! Be Our Guest Restaurant Now, we haven’t been silent about how much we miss when Be Our Guest used to offer an a la carte breakfast that allowed us to preorder our food. Now, both lunch and dinner are prix fixe, and we’ll admit we don’t think it’s as good as it once was. With that being said, though, if we are doing a meal at Be Our Guest, we’ll choose French Onion Soup for our appetizer, served Au Gratin with Gruyère. Okay, it’s a soup with LOADS of cheese on top — so what’s not to love? It’s not so heavy, though, to fill you up before the rest of your meal. French Onion Soup For our entree, it’s got to be the Grilled Filet Mignon, which is served with Smashed Potatoes, Haricots Verts, and Sauce au Poivre. The steak is always cooked EXACTLY to our preference (usually medium-rare). It has a lot of flavor plus the sides are tasty, too. Filet Mignon at Be Our Guest For dessert, we usually go with the Dessert Trio — because why just order one dessert when you can get three? Be Our Guest Desserts See how that works out? Read our most recent review of Be Our Guest Cinderella’s Royal Table Speaking of pricey meals, let’s head INSIDE Cinderella Castle to meet some princesses and eat some food. We usually opt for beakfast here, and we almost always order the Caramel Apple-stuffed French Toast, which is French Toast stuffed with Sweet Cream Cheese and Spiced Apples drizzled with Caramel Sauce and served with Bacon. OH, YEAH. Caramel Apple French Toast The inside is oh-so doughy and dense, and there are large chunks of apple in it. It all pairs quite well with that caramel sauce. Dessert for breakfast, y’all. Read a review of Cinderella’s Royal Table The Crystal Palace Who doesn’t want to dine with Pooh and his friends? The Crystal Palace is another one of our breakfast faves, mostly for one reason: Churro Mickey Waffles. Yes, two of our favorite Disney foods are combined into one! These are basically waffles drowned in cinnamon sugar, and if that sounds delicious, you would be right! Churro Mickey Waffles! Dare we say that these are even better than regular Mickey waffles? Read our full review of breakfast at The Crystal Palace here Liberty Tree Tavern So the meal you’re served at Liberty Tree Tavern is pretty much all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving food, but if we’re going to mention ONE food item here (and if you’ve followed us for some time, you know where we’re going with this), it’s going to be the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake We will literally pace ourselves through the rest of the meal so we have room in our tummies for this delicious dessert. Note that the same menu is also served at The Diamond Horseshoe. Read a review of The Liberty Tree Tavern Skipper Canteen Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen is one of our favorite Magic Kingdom restaurants, but our favorite thing on the menu isn’t actually on the menu. Yes, it’s a secret menu item, and you have to ask for it. It’s the Pao de Quejo which is CHEESY BREAD that is served with served with chimichurri cream cheese. These little happy balls of bread are soft and cheesy, and we ALWAYS ask for them as our appetizer. Cheese bread!!! For our entree, though, we love the “Hardy Har Char” Siu Pork, which a Char Siu-marinated Pork Tenderloin served with House-Pickled Vegetables and Jasmine Rice. The pork is juicy and the sweet soy flavors really come through. “Hardy Har Char” Siu Pork If you’ve still got room left for dessert, the Kungaloosh! will make your tummy sing. It’s an an African-inspired Chocolate Cake with Caramelized Bananas served with Cashew-Caramel Ice Cream topped with Coffee Dust. Kungaloosh! This baby is PERFECTION. Read our most recent Skipper Canteen Review The Plaza Restaurant Skip the entrees and just order yourself a plate of the Plaza Loaded Fries at The Plaza Restaurant. This plate of Crispy Fries, Melted Cheddar, Bacon, Green Onion, and Spicy Sour Cream is enough to fill you up and even leave you a little room for a scoop of ice cream later if you’re feeling it. Plaza Loaded Fries You’ve got crispy fries, cheese, and bacon, so that’s pretty much the trifecta of creating a tasty dish. It’s also shareable if you want to make a smaller meal out of it. Read a review of The Plaza Restaurant Tony’s Town Square Yes, it’s no secret that we are NOT huge fans of Tony’s Town Square, but if we could make an entire meal out of bread, we’d do it with Tony’s Garlic Bread for the Table. These slices of toasted ciabatta come with a parmesan fondue on the side, but we like to take that cheesiness and pour it over this tower of bread. Tony’s Garlic Bread We will say that our most recent visit to Tony’s surprised us because we found an entree we loved, too. It’s the Tortellini al Forno made with Calabrian Chili and Cheese Tortellini baked Italian Sausage, Onions, Peppers, and Mozzarella in a Creamy Tomato Sauce. It’s a nice combo of chili and cheese. Tortellini al Forno We hope this is a sign that Tony’s is finally upping its game. Here’s our most recent Tony’s Town Square Review So if you’re wondering what you should eat at that restaurant you’ve booked a dining reservation for in Magic Kingdom, we hope we gave you some ideas of what to order. 22. No offense, Disney, but there are some places in Disney World we have to skip. After you work in Disney World six days a week for over six months, you start seeing Mickey Mouse in your dreams and hearing the Main Street, U.S.A. music in your head, even when it’s completely silent around you. Are we saying we felt a little haunted by the spirit of Sonny Eclipse? Maybe… Hi there, MICKEY! Yes, there are some things we REFUSE to do now that the Disney Food Blog team of former Disney World Cast Members is off the clock. Today we’re talking FOOD. After working in EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we have some opinions about Disney World dining. Here’s a list of all the places we DON’T plan to visit any time soon. Be Our Guest OK, with a team full of former Disney World Cast Members, no one around here wants to Be [Disney’s] Guest. Be Our Guest Let’s just take a second to look at the prices. This place has a prix-fixe menu, and the meal is $70 per adult and $41 per child. It’s not cheap. But that’s not our biggest gripe because, for a three-course meal, it’s not totally unreasonable to charge roughly $23 per dish. The problem is the food itself! Be Our Guest Entrees We’ve eaten a LOT of Disney food. A LOT. There’s just something about the menu here that just leaves us feeling a little letdown. The atmosphere? Stunning! The highly rushed Beast sighting and mediocre entrees? Disappointing. For the price, we wanted a little more. Beast in Be Our Guest at Disney World This restaurant used to be a fan favorite. In fact, we used to LOVE coming here for breakfast. But breakfast a la carte is no more. We miss those days. How Be Our Guest Restaurant Lunch Slowly Declined From Perfect to Pathetic Coral Reef Most Disney World Cast Members — both former and current — seem to agree that Coral Reef is just not a go-to spot for people looking for a really good meal in EPCOT. Coral Reef Restaurant Again, the atmosphere here is pretty unique. You’re dining next to a HUGE tank full of fish! That’s not something you can do at your local Cheesecake Factory, eh? Entertainment while you eat! But, once again, we need to address the food. It’s just not our favorite! Coral Reef has some stiff competition in EPCOT. It’s got Via Napoli, Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya, Le Cellier, and La Hacienda de San Angel to compete with, and those are some POPULAR restaurants. New England Clam Chowder When you work in EPCOT and get to smell the heavenly scents of Karamell-Küche and smoked meat at EPCOT festival booths on a daily basis, you certainly don’t feel inspired to walk past all the amazing World Showcase offerings for a bowl of Clam Chowder. Just sayin. We’re STILL Confused About Our Meal at This EPCOT Restaurant Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe Sorry, Mr. Eclipse. We don’t mean to offend. But of all the quick-service locations in Magic Kingdom, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe is our least favorite. Hello, old friend. Is this a good place for picky eaters? Sure. Maybe. Do the chicken tenders have that star quality we look for in a good fried meal? Not really. They’re just okay! Chicken Strips We can’t bash this place too much because you may still catch us here if we’re starving and need a quick snack, but Magic Kingdom has better options. Cheeseburger Spring Rolls will ALWAYS beat the actual burgers served here. I was a Disney World Cast Member. Do NOT Order This at Cosmic Ray’s in Magic Kingdom. Rose & Crown This may be a little bit of a hot take! You may be surprised to see this on the list. But really, this is a one-and-done restaurant for us. The atmosphere is fine (there is a nice view of the World Showcase Lagoon, though). The food is, once again, mediocre. But with so many BETTER places to eat in EPCOT, we can’t confidently recommend this one to our friends. Rose and Crown in the UK Let’s be honest — most people probably come here for the drinks, not the food. There’s nothing wrong with that, but be warned that this location can be NOISY, so it’s probably not the place to take a family with small children. This EPCOT Dining HACK Just Changed My LIFE…AGAIN! Space 220 Finally, we have to talk about one of the newer EPCOT restaurants, Space 220. Space 220 in EPCOT This place is known for its atmosphere. The story goes that you’re dining wayyy up in space, 220 miles above Earth. You even take a space elevator to get up to the restaurant. Fun! Full spread With such an interesting dining concept, we had high hopes for this place! Ultimately, though, the prices felt a little too high, and the menu didn’t “wow” us. Are we being a little harsh with our opinions? That’s up to you to decide! If you love the menu items here, like the Gemini Burger or the Steak Salad, enjoy! But when we’re working with a $55 two-course prix-fixe menu, we want to leave satisfied. Ultimately, we didn’t. Those views are COOL, though! So, what do you think? Are you ready to disagree in the comments? We want to know! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 23. Loungefly bags may still be very popular, but there’s another accessory brand that is rising in popularity VERY quickly. Lug bags! It’s no secret that Lug bags are the next best thing all around, ESPECIALLY in Disney World. In a place where you need a bag that will fit everything while also being user-friendly, Lug is the name of the game right now. Some of these bags are available online, but others we’ve seen exclusively in the parks. If you’re in Disney World and find yourself looking to buy one, here’s a look at the Lug bags that are in Disney World as we speak. Now remember, things change fast at Disney, and that includes available merchandise. These are the Lug bags we know to be in the parks at this time, but they may run out of stock at any time. Who knows — you may even find a NEW bag in the parks one day! EPCOT Over in the Italy Pavilion, they still have the Red Mickey and Minnie Lug Bags. When we first saw them, they were available in two sizes/styles. Red Mickey Lug Bags Note that the crossbody bags are usually the first to sell out, but we have still seen some of the larger backpacks stick around a little longer! They’re a little smaller than a regular backpack but have tons of zippers to store your items. Lug Backpack Plus, it’s inspired by the Italy Pavilion, which is pretty cool (and fitting since that’s the only place you can buy these bags)! If you need more space than the crossbody bags provide, one of these backpacks is probably the right size for you. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Over here, you’ll find a Lug bag that looks a little different than the others — it’s an Animal Kingdom Lug Tote! It may be larger than what you want for the parks, but it does have an insulated beverage holder, which is AMAZING. Animal Kingdom Lug Tote Or, if you are looking for something smaller, you can grab the Animal Kingdom Lug Crossbody Belt Bag. It has the same design as the tote and is just large enough to fit your phone, car keys, some cards, and maybe one or two other small items. Animal Kingdom Lug Crossbody Belt We know, we know, there aren’t a whole lot of Lug bags in the parks right now, but hey, we TOLD you these sell out fast! Now you see that we’re not kidding. If you’re in the parks and you spot a Lug bag that you like, we recommend grabbing it ASAP. It’s likely that you could make one lap around the park, and they could be half gone. By the end of your trip, they may be completely sold out (like this Winnie the Pooh bag previously spotted in EPCOT and Magic Kingdom). These Winnie the Pooh Crossbody bags are SO cute! If you don’t grab one in the parks, you could try to snag one online, but beware; they sell out quickly online, too. See the WILD amount this Figment Lug Bag was reselling for online! We’re always here to bring you the latest news from the Disney parks, the Disney company, and more, so stay tuned to DFB! Sticking with Loungefly? We don’t blame you — check out the new collection that just dropped online! Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! WE KNOW DISNEY.
