It’s Easter time, and that means a few things around Disney World. Beach Club Easter Eggs! You can try tons of different Easter snacks around the resort, take part in the fun scavenger hunt in EPCOT, and in Magic Kingdom, the time has come to meet some rare characters! Over in Magic Kingdom, you can meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny for the next week or so until April begins! They’re meeting guests intermittently between 9AM and 5PM at the Bunny Lane Garden (aka Liberty Square Gazebo). We stopped by around 1:30 and got in a short line. We didn’t have to wait long before we were able to say hello! A Cast Member let us know that the best chances of seeing them in the afternoon are likely to be at 1:30PM, 2:30PM, and 3:30PM. There they are! After you finish the meet and greet, you’ll also get a sweet Happy Easter card signed by both Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny. So sweet! This is a very rare meet and greet, as they only come out around Easter, so if you see them, we highly recommend taking advantage of the meet and greet and saying hello. They’re so cute! It is no secret that Disney World is expensive! Hollywood Studios When it comes to meals at Disney World, it can be challenging to find a filling, cheap, and tasty option. We went to Hollywood Studios to find the cheapest meal in the park, so you won’t have to search! There are many great cheap quick-service options around Hollywood Studios, but the cheapest meal is at Woody’s Lunchbox in Toy Story Land! Toy Story Land Woody’s Lunchbox offers great options for a quick meal in the park, like Totchos — potato barrels topped with chili, cheese and more! TOTCHOS! We’ve Got the Totchos Recipe Right Here! Although Totchos are almost the cheapest meal in Hollywood Studios, there is one that is a little cheaper. That meal is the Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich. This is not your regular grilled cheese sandwich; it is made for grown-ups! Woody’s Lunch Box While a grilled cheese sandwich might seem basic, this one is super yummy! It is served on grilled sourdough bread with melted Provolone, Cheddar, and American cheese. We think this sandwich is so gooey and cheesy! We also love that the bread is crispy and has hints of garlic. Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich And you get a side included for the price of $10.29. Your choices are potato barrels, a mandarin orange, or our recommendation — a cup of tomato-basil soup to dip your sandwich in. Grilled cheese and tomato soup — it’s a classic combo we love! The 2024 D23 Expo has changed its name to D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, and we’ve been learning more about this year’s event, which will be, dare we say…ULTIMATE? ©Disney This event is the biggest Disney fan event of the year and will include special exhibits, exclusive merchandise, presentations, and more. However, this year’s event is expanding to include a NEW venue for the evening panels, the Honda Center (otherwise known as the home of the Anaheim Ducks). If you’re buying tickets to The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, you might want to know where the good seats are. When you buy your ticket, you’ll be able to select your seats for the presentations at the Honda Center. So the first thing we’re going to show you is the seating chart at the venue. As you can see, the absolute best seats are those in the 101-106 sections — right up front and center stage. ©Honda Center However, it’s likely those seats are probably going to go the fastest, so you’ll next want to try for those seats in the 205-225 sections, 304-323 sections, or the 408-437 sections. Now the 400 section might be the nosebleed seats, but at least they have a good, straight-on view of the stage. Granted, we imagine there will be giant video screens showing everything on the stage, and depending on how accessible those are, you may have a good view of the screens no matter where you sit. ©Honda Center If you want to get those good seats, though, you’ll want to be a D23 Gold member so you can get first access to tickets starting on March 26th, 2024, at 12PM PST. These tickets are limited and exclusive to Gold Members, so if you can’t grab them then, you can try again on March 27th at 12PM PST (note that Disney Visa cardholders will also be able to get tickets on March 27th). Tickets go on sale to the general public on March 28th. Disney World transportation can be scary and overwhelming to think about — but believe it or not, there was a time it was actually SCARIER! Tower of Terror, Disney’s Hollywood Studio Disney World offers a ton of different kinds of transportation like bus routes, water taxis, and a monorail system. Perhaps the most famous form of Disney World transportation, however, is the Disney Skyliner. While it’s an incredibly popular way to travel around Disney World these days, that wasn’t always the case. The Disney Skyliner is a gondola lift system that opened at Disney World in September 2019 and takes passengers to and from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort. Safe to say, this transportation system is a big success, but back in 2019, we were seriously worried. Skyliner at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort When the Skyliner opened, there were some concerns. Just a few days after its official opening, the Skyliner had its first big incident on October 5th, 2019. A power outage caused a transportation malfunction at the Riviera Resort Skyliner loading station and gondolas started to crash, stranding guests for up to three hours. Not a great first impression. Skyliner at Riviera The ride system and travel routes also served as deterrents for many guests when the Skyliner opened. Even to this day, the gondolas come in hot to the stations, which understandably scares away potential passengers. Another reason people were scared of the Skyliner is its route. The gondolas travel over roads and swamp land and, while they close due to inclement weather, the thought of getting stranded up in the air during a surprise storm is terrifying. While these fears haven’t been totally negated, the Skyliner has been in operation SUCCESSFULLY for nearly five years, and there’s something to be said for that. Skyliner Turn Station Today, it seems most Skyliner fears have been quelled and the transportation system is more popular than ever! Many Disney fans decide on resort stays now based on whether or not there is a Skyliner resort — and that has made stays at Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera Resorts more in demand! It’s worth a Skyliner ride to check out the beautiful mosaics at Riviera Resort! Even without a resort stay, we love taking the Skyliner between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, or over to one of the resorts for a drink or snack. It’s fun to see Disney World from the sky — and we know lots of kids who think the Skyliner is the best “ride” in all of Disney World! Disney World may be The Most Magical Place on Earth, but sometimes things can still go wrong there. Frozen Ever After being evacuated Sometimes, the weather is completely uncooperative (rain, we’re talking about storms and rain). Sometimes, you have to deal with crowds. Sometimes, rides close because of technical or other issues. But what happens if you’re on a ride when those issues arise and it needs to be evacuated? Usually, there’s a sign that a ride may be having an issue when it unexpectedly stops and then doesn’t start moving again. Now, this does happen often on rides like Haunted Mansion, but an announcement is usually made to tell you to wait patiently because the ride will start moving again soon. If you are on a ride that does stop like this, that’s exactly what you should do: wait patiently for the ride to either start moving again or for a Cast Member to give you other instructions. Do NOT get out of the ride vehicle unless a Cast Member tells you to do so. If a ride stops, stay in the vehicle unless you are instructed otherwise We know just sitting there can be nerve-wracking, but Cast Members will not forget about you. They are working as quickly as they can to ensure sure you make a safe exit off the ride (one way or another). You may hear instructions over an intercom, or you may need to wait until a Cast Member approaches your ride vehicle, but you will be told exactly what you need to do. PeopleMover being evacuated Once you are given instructions, you may have to wait for a Cast Member to release you from the ride vehicle. Cast Members will then tell you to evacuate the ride and show you where you need to go to exit. On some rides, you may even be directed to backstage areas and get some behind-the-scenes looks at the attraction. On water rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, a Cast Member will be present to help you exit from the vehicle safely so you don’t end up in the water. Guests walking through the ride sets on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway If you need some help, or you’re a guest who cannot walk, Cast Members will work with you to safely remove you from the ride. In some instances, the fire department may arrive to assist. The key is not to panic — you will be evacuated as quickly as possible. The most important thing you can do is remain calm, be patient, and listen to Cast Members. Rise of the Resistance Evacuation If you had used a Lightning Lane or Individual Lightning Lane selection to ride the attraction, you’ll need to see a Cast Member on the way out or at Guest Relations so that you can get an experience redemption to return to the ride’s Lightning Lane later once it reopens. These experience redemptions might be in the form of “anytime” Lightning Lanes, which can generally be used at most attractions that accept Lightning Lanes. Lightning Lane It doesn’t happen all the time, but these instances do occur. It’s important to follow all instructions from the Cast Members. We hope you don’t need this info, but you never know! Prices are rising again in Disney World, as they do almost every year, for food, experiences, tickets, and more. EPCOT We also know that prices have already risen for 2025, so we’re planning accordingly. You’re already paying so much, that you don’t need to pay any unnecessary fees on your vacation, too. And yet, they still happen. So we narrowed down some unnecessary fees for you to avoid because we care. Here’s how you can avoid those unnecessary costs on your next Disney World vacation. One of the biggest things people underestimate in Disney World is how long it takes to get around the property. For example, if you’re heading from Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Magic Kingdom, you’ll want to budget AT LEAST an hour to get there, regardless of whether you’re taking Disney bus transportation or your own car (traffic is no joke). In fact, when you’re heading ANYWHERE in Disney World, we recommend giving yourself an hour to get there. Sanaa Does this seem excessive? Maybe a little, but it’s NOT. Not only can your car or bus run into traffic on the roads, but your Disney hotel bus could have more than one stop which might put you behind schedule. Even the Skyliner or Monorail may stop while you’re on them sometimes. Additionally, all modes of transportation could be so crowded that it takes you a little while to get on. ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Resort So what does this have to do with saving money, you ask? If you’ve made a dining reservation at a table service restaurant in a Disney hotel or the parks, you’ll be charged if you’re over 15 minutes late (and haven’t called to inform them what’s going on), OR you’ll be charged a cancellation fee if you cancel your reservation too late. Be Our Guest What is too late for a dining reservation? Well, once you’ve booked a reservation at a table service restaurant, you must cancel at LEAST 2 hours before your dining time to avoid a cancelation fee. If you do need to cancel within 2 hours, you’ll be charged a $10 per person cancelation fee. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant However, the following restaurants have different rules, so if you book with them, keep these in mind! Cinderella’s Royal Table — must cancel at least 2 hours prior, or each guest will be charged the full price of the meal Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue — must cancel at least 1 day prior, or each guest will be charged the full price of the meal Sangria University — must cancel at least 1 day prior, or each guest will be charged the full price of the experience La Cava Experience — must cancel at least 1 day prior, or each guest will be charged $50 Takumi-Tei — must cancel at least 2 days prior, or each guest will be charged $100 Monsieur Paul — must cancel at least 3 days prior, or each guest will be charged $100 Victoria & Albert’s — must cancel at least 5 days prior, or each guest will be charged $100 Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties — must cancel at least 1 day prior, or each guest will be charged the full cost of the experience Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise — must cancel at least 1 day prior, or each guest will be charged the full cost of the experience Rose & Crown Fireworks Dining Package — must cancel at least 1 day prior, or each guest will be charged the full cost of the experience Spice Road Table Fireworks Dining Package — must cancel at least 1 day prior, or each guest will be charged the full cost of the experience Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Dinner Show Table service dining can sneak up on you quickly, and you may end up paying a cancelation or late fee you weren’t expecting to. This especially stinks if you’ve had to cancel the experience. Then you’re paying for something you don’t even get to do! However, this is why paying attention to your reservations and allowing enough time is so important. Tons of people want these reservations, and if you cancel yours early enough, another family may be able to experience it! Chef Mickey’s Card We recommend setting an alarm (or four) on your phone to remind you when you need to do any of the following: Leave where you’re at to head to your dining reservation Cancel your dining reservation if you know you’re not going to make it/have decided not to go Call the restaurant to inform them if you’re running behind. If Disney transportation is the reason you’re behind schedule, they’ll understand (aka you’re stuck on the Monorail). Disney World is currently in the process of undergoing lots of different transformations. One Man’s Dream CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza are still under construction but will finally open in June 2024. Country Bear Jamboree and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure are both getting ready for summer openings in Magic Kingdom. And there has been a small construction project happening at the One Man’s Dream theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios that’s just been completed! We also spotted a new accessible seat for wheelchair and ECV users. Part of the seat opens like a door to make transferring easier for those guests. Additionally, there is also more room at the back for multiple ECVs to be parked next to each other, instead of being separated by regular seats. Accessible seat We love the changes to this theater — they were definitely needed! You can see below what the theater was like before these upgrades. We might have a problem that we’re not willing to admit to ourselves. Main Street Bakery aka Magic Kingdom Starbucks But we’ll tell you because we trust you all. We LOVE Starbucks. (Okay, maybe that wasn’t a secret.) We can’t NOT stop at the Starbucks locations in the parks for a little pick-me-up. We love all the new drinks and snacks, of course. But we also adore all the new merchandise they come out with, especially when it’s all Disney-themed! We recently spotted a NEW Disney World tumbler, and it might be a new favorite (until the next one arrives). Black and gold are chic colors separately. They are so stylish, and gold glimmers immaculately. But when Starbucks put them together on this new Disney World tumbler, we about lost it. It’s perfect. This mug is gorgeous, and it shimmers beautifully in the Florida sunlight. On one side you can see the Disney World logo,… Isn’t it beautiful? …and on the other is the Starbucks logo. We spotted it in The Emporium on Main St. U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom for $49.99. It is currently not online yet, but we’ll be watching for it to show up on the Disney Store’s website! The Starbucks logo on this beauty You’ll find Starbucks locations in each of the four parks. CELEBRATION, Fla. (March 20, 2024) — Disney Cruise Line revealed the first details about its next ship, the Disney Destiny, as it reached a new construction milestone today with a keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. With the good luck garnered by this maritime tradition, this ship of legends and lore is beginning to take shape. The design theme of the Disney Destiny, sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, will be “Heroes and Villains,” drawing on the legacy of beloved Disney stories, characters and theme park attractions, to forge a cruise vacation that will empower guests to embrace their own calling aboard every unforgettable voyage. The Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams were inspired by the dynamic duality of every great Disney story, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose, when developing the Disney Destiny. Onboard, guests will encounter heroes and villains alike – including those from beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios stories like “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” – within the spaces, experiences and entertainment throughout their voyage. To embody and embolden the theme, Disney also unveiled brand-new filigree artwork for the bow of the Disney Destiny, continuing a beloved Disney Cruise Line design tradition. The illustration depicts Minnie Mouse striking a valiant pose in a heroic ensemble, her cape waving majestically in the sea breeze as she boldly leads guests toward their vacation destinies. “The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising as we offer even more ways for families to experience Disney magic and world-class service at sea.” The Disney Destiny is scheduled for delivery in 2025 as part of a multi-year expansion of the Disney Cruise Line fleet that includes the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, the Disney Adventure that will homeport in Singapore, and the new island destination in The Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
