We have been keeping up with all the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure construction and announcements. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure We go to Disney World every day, and it’s pretty hard to miss this new ride. So when we notice some changes, we’re ready to tell you about them! We know that the ride in Magic Kingdom will be opening sometime this summer (the Disneyland version will open “later in 2024”), but we don’t know exactly what day. Every time we see more details added, more scaffolding down, or the ride being tested, we know that it can’t be too far away. Now, we have a few new updates that we’ve noticed in the past few days! Now, this sign had gone up a little while ago, but it has been covered up with scaffolding making it really hard to get a good look at it. But the scaffolding has all been removed, so we can see it clear as day welcoming us to a celebration of New Orleans! “Tonight Only: A Celebration of Family and Friends of New Orleans at the Proud Home of Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen! Everyone Is Welcome!” More of the story goes that Tiana purchased a salt dome for the company to build her land (hence the mountain). The idea is that Tabasco Sauce was founded in an area in Louisiana where there is a large salt dome — Avery Island. So to keep up this story for the ride, Disney has added some new hot sauce signs! Original hot sauce We also recently saw that this cute little white building has been completed! Previously, the building had exposed insulation on it, but it is looking very complete now. There are also some very pretty light fixtures that have gone up around the ride and queue. A cute little white building Every day, we’re getting closer and closer to summer and the opening of this new princess ride. It will be a fun adventure to finally ride it for the first time! We’re keeping our eyes peeled for new updates from Disney, but in the meantime, keep following DFB! There’s no worse feeling than planning a trip to Disney World and realizing your desired dates are sold out. Cinderella Castle Or, perhaps all the dates of your planned visit are available except for ONE. It’s rare, but it DOES happen. We’re here to give you all of our best tips from avoiding this scenario to options that you have if you’re visiting Disney World or live nearby and one of your desired dates is sold out. Let’s go! First, we’re going to start with how to hopefully avoid this situation entirely. How to avoid sold-out dates. First and foremost, the earlier you can start planning your vacation, the BETTER. Especially if you’re hoping to visit around a busier time of the year like the fall and winter holidays or Spring Break. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and May 4th (hello, Star Wars fans!) have been known to sell out entirely for Annual Passholders and reach capacity for general ticket holders. Christmas Day at Disney World in 2023 We recommend booking a vacation package that includes a hotel stay and park tickets if you know you want to stay on property, and like we said, the sooner the better. Folks generally have better luck finding their desired dates this way. Vacation booking through October 2025 is now open, so we’d recommend snagging those packages now if you want to visit on busier dates for the first 3/4 of the year. Annual Passholders still need park pass reservations. If a park is going to sell out for a group of folks, it’s likely going to be for Annual Passholders first. Annual Passholders still need to make park pass reservations before 2PM at most parks on most days, and all day long for Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays. The exception to this are Good-to-Go days, which are listed in the reservation calendar on Passholders’ Disney World app. Annual Pass A few other people need Park Pass reservations — mainly if you are with a convention group or otherwise have “undated” Disney World tickets — you will be told this when you get them! MOST people who have bought date-based tickets no longer need reservations, but be aware that parks can reach capacity on the busiest days of the year, and you can absolutely be turned away. Which parks sell out first? Typically, Magic Kingdom goes first. That’s why on weekends, Annual Passholders need to make reservations all day long. Next, Hollywood Studios and EPCOT will probably go. The good news is that if you have a park hopper ticket, Animal Kingdom reservations are almost always still open when those other parks are sold out. Tree of Life Now, there are exceptions to this “rule” — especially when there is some sort of special event of holiday happening in one park. For example, all the other parks are open May the 4th, but Hollywood Studios reservations are hard to come by because of all the Star Wars activities in that park. All-day park hopping is back, though, so you can go scan in at Animal Kingdom and then visit your desired park as long as it hasn’t reached capacity. That’s one option that you can take if all the other parks are sold out, but there are other things you can try as well! Ask for help! Disney is all about ensuring their guests’ needs are met. If all else fails, you can visit Guest Relations and see what they can do. Sometimes, people will transfer their tickets to a future date so that an opening becomes available that you might not see online. Animal Kingdom Ticket Windows Stop by Guest Relations at the ticket window outside the parks and see what they can do for you. There are no guarantees here, but we know that small parties have had luck with this. The worst case scenario is that you get a free day roaming Disney property at the hotels and Disney Springs. Oh, and that leads us to our last point! Roll with the punches and take in Disney World BEYOND the theme parks! If all else fails, you can absolutely treat yourself to a resort hopping day or a shopping and dining day in Disney Springs. You might not be free-falling on Tower of Terror or saving the galaxy with Star Lord, but you can absolutely have a DOLE Whip at the Polynesian and ride the Skyliner a few times. Disney Springs You can also visit all the shops that Disney Springs has to offer as well as have access to tons of the souvenir collections that you have in the parks! As Hannah Montana once said, “Life’s what you make it, so let’s make it rock.” She was also talking about sold-out Disney days, trust us. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with all our best Disney tips and tricks, so make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop and never missing out. NEW Cast Member Costumes Arrive in Magic Kingdom
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
If you ask us, Cast Members can be the most magical parts of a Disney World vacation. We LOVE Cast Members! They make all the magic happen — whether they’re serving up your favorite treat, launching you on your favorite ride, or talking to you about your favorite animal on the savanna. On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, we spotted some Cast Members wearing brand-new costumes and thought we’d give you the full look! A while back, Disney shared that Cast Members on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom would be getting new costumes, and now that time has finally come! We spotted the new looks when we headed into the original Disney World park on a recent trip. NEW costumes! These costumes were designed to reflect Main Street’s turn-of-the-century theme. Disney also shared that these costumes are made with lightweight, breathable fabrics AND made from recyclable materials. Love the new look! This is just one of the new costumes coming to Main Street, U.S.A. Disney previously shared a first look, and we’re excited to see more of these costumes roll out in the coming months. The costumes are mostly made up of interchangeable pieces, so each Cast Member can put together their own look of new combinations, allowing for a bit more expression. Hat details In other Magic Kingdom news, we’re getting ready to welcome the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride this summer and we can’t wait! And, make sure you don’t sleep on this Magic Kingdom quick-service staple — it’s one of our favorites for a reason! We’ll be getting a new ride in Magic Kingdom and Disneyland soon! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Disney announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom will be opening sometime this summer! A specific opening date has yet to be shared, but work on the ride seems to be moving right along. We won’t be surprised if we learn a date soon. But until then, we keep learning more and more about what’s to come. All of the elements we know so far have been shared rather sporadically over many months, so we wanted to share them all in one place for you. Let’s take a look at EVERYTHING coming to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom! New Story If you’ve ever seen the movie The Princess and the Frog, then you likely remember the story of Tiana and Prince Naveen fighting for their lives against magic, falling in love, and eventually seeing their hard work pay off. Well, that is not the story that will be featured on the ride. The ride will be set AFTER the final kiss of the movie, and the two have now begun operating Tiana’s Palace. ©Disney Now, the characters are getting ready for Mardi Gras! As Tiana is preparing for the Mardi Gras party at her restaurant, she realizes she’s “missing a key ingredient” and needs help finding it. You get to join in on the adventure to the bayou where you’ll meet some cool new critters practicing their music. ©Disney We’re looking forward to being part of this brand-new story! Princess Tiana and Other Characters from the Movie Of course, Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen will be joining in on the fun! In fact, there will be SEVEN Tiana animatronics throughout the ride! There will be other characters throughout the journey like Louis… ©Disney …Charlotte, and Mama Odie. ©Disney Also making appearances will be Eudora (Tiana’s mom) and “Big Daddy!” It’s going to be a bunch of familiar faces, while new ones are mixed in! New Characters While we saw glimpses of Prince Naveen’s parents in the movie, they will be part of the ride! The King and Queen of Maldonia and their son (Naveen’s brother) Prince Ralphie will join in on the fun. ©Disney There will also be new critters in a few new bands playing music as we cruise down the bayou! The first group of critters we were introduced to will play some Zydeco music for us. ©Disney Then, Disney showed us the cute Rara band that will be coming to the ride! ©Disney But of course, that wasn’t all! Some Afro-Cuban music playing jazzy frogs will also be hopping into the adventure. ©Disney In total, there will be 17 characters throughout the new ride. We can’t wait! New Music Speaking of all new bands, there will be all-new music throughout the ride which will be “inspired by songs from the film.” Mama Odie will be featured with music, we’ll hear Zydeco music, Afro-Cubin music, and Rara music as we float down the bayou. Plus, Disney has revealed that PJ Morton — a Grammy Award-Winning musician and someone you might recognize as the keyboardist for Maroon 5 — will be creating a NEW original song for the ride. Grammy Award-winning musician and New Orleans native PJ Morton ©Disney Grammy-Award Winning Artist Terence Blanchard is also helping to make the music of the attraction come to life. Fun fact: Blanchard played all of the trumpet parts for Louis the Alligator in “The Princess and the Frog!” Blanchard will be creating the new music that we’ll hear in the queue. The Queue Speaking of the queue, there are lots of fun details being added to the line of this ride! The queue construction The story begins in the queue where you’ll discover that Tiana wants to further bring the community together as she continues to grow her business. As a result, she’s bought and transformed an old large salt dome (that’s the “mountain!”) with the help of her mother, Naveen, Louis, and fellow owners of the cooperative where she and her employees work together to make food products (like Louisiana Tabasco Sauce!) and help members of the community become business people. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure The land around the salt mine has also been renewed and now grows veggies, herbs, and spices for her famous recipes, and the familiar structures from the Splash Mountain queue will be transformed into the main offices for Tiana’s Foods. You’ll also notice New Orleans soundscape and decor to make you feel like you’re actually there. There’s even a surprise of the smell of freshly fried beignets to make you hungry as you wait. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure 5-Story Drop Since Disney created this new ride from a pre-existing ride, we’ll see a lot of the same ride elements. That will include the 5-story drop from the top of the mountain! Construction Cast Members ride testing! The ride will last about 11 or 12 minutes and will feature a combination of practical lighting, digital lighting, and scenic paint. We can’t wait to see how they were able to transform this new ride! Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too much longer to ride it! To check out more Tiana’s Bayou Adventure news, click the links below! Recent Tiana's Bayou Adventure news Wait. Just how much will a trip to Food & Wine REALLY cost? Spaceship Earth The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival has become a must-do event for thousands of EPCOT guests each year, with many organizing whole trips around the festival’s run. The question faced by many of these travelers: “Just how much money do I need to set aside for this?” While pricing and menu information for the 2024 Food & Wine Festival (scheduled to run from August 29th through November 23rd) has yet to be revealed, working with last year’s prices and taking inflation into account, we can come up with a pretty solid estimate how of much a trip to this year’s festival will cost. EPCOT Food & Wine Festival 2023 Park Tickets The first major expense for anyone attending Food & Wine will be tickets to EPCOT for their desired day. Hello from the Food and Wine Festival! A single day ticket to EPCOT starts at $109, and increases dynamically based on the days of the week and time of the year. Currently, most September weekdays sits within the $109 range, while weekends climb between $140 and $150. In October and November, weekdays jump to between $149 and $159, while weekends sit between $159 and $166 for a single day EPCOT ticket. Food & Drinks The Food & Wine in the title is obvious the major draw for the festival, and also likely the area where most visitors will want to budget toward. Roasted Porchetta In 2023, food items at festival booths tended to cost between $4.50 and $12 and drinks ranged from $5 to $9 (with some outlier items on both sides). Taking into account the roughly 4% inflation on food and drink products over the last year, we can roughly assume 2024 prices to be between $5.00 and $12.50 for food items and roughly $5.25 and $9.40 for drinks. Motorworks Brewing Midnight Espresso Coffee Porter Now, it’s important to remember that the food items at the Festival are small portions, so no single one will likely serve as full meal. Therefore, we would say it’s best to budget for between 4-8 food items (including desserts) and 4-5 drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) per person (though of course those numbers can be skewed by parties sharing items with each other). Still, we’d estimate a food and drink budget of somewhere in the neighborhood of $125 per person. Here’s your secret weapon for budgeting for food and drink: Pick up our DFB Guide to the Food & Wine Festival! This ebook has descriptions, reviews and photos of every item available, so you can decide what you want to try (and how much it will cost) in advance! Grab the DFB Guide here! Merchandise As with any Disney trip, there’s also likely to be a merchandise budget involved. Disney’s general merchandise prices ($30 to $40 for a tee shirt, $70-$80 for a sport jersey, etc.) will be higher for special edition or limited Festival merchandise. In addition, there are often special cooking-related items, glassware, and etc. on sale each year at Food & Wine. Food & Wine ears! While the merchandise budget may vary wildly between visitors, especially those who collect limited merchandise and/or cook themselves, we’d go out on a limb and say that most general Food & Wine guests would be able to set a merchandise budget of about $75 and still come away with a couple of really nice souvenirs. Food & Wine spirit jersey from 2023 So , a general day at Food & Wine, including theme park ticket, food, drinks, and merchandise, should be budgeted for roughly $350: $140 for an EPCOT ticket) and $200 for food and merchandise. Obviously however, these numbers are very general, as some guests may go light on food and drink and skip merchandise while others may splurge on food, drinks, merchandise, or all three. ©Disney The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is one of the most beloved events on the Disney calendar, but it can quickly become one of the most expensive. One tip we’d advise: Set whatever food/drink/merchandise budget you’re comfortable with, and then purchase a Disney gift card in that amount to ensure you don’t go over budget. We talk about Disney World dining reservations a LOT here at DFB. Sanaa There are quite literally hundreds of restaurants in Disney World and dozens of places to make reservations. With all those options, it can feel mandatory that you try some out during your trip. But dining reservations and table service meals aren’t for everyone — we’re here to tell you why making dining reservations for your trip might be a bad idea! You Have Small Children For starters, if you have small children who can be unpredictable or who haven’t been to Disney World before, making advance dining reservations may not work out in your favor. If your kids get hungry too early, have a midday meltdown, or just decide that they don’t want to eat at the spot you chose, you could find yourself questioning why you made the plans in the first place. Crystal Palace When visiting Disney World with small children, flexibility is KEY. Sometimes, having no plan is better so that you can make decisions in the moment as you adjust and reevaluate. We recommend going into your park day with some options, but hard decisions aren’t required in advance. You Have a Long To-Do List It also might not be a good idea to make dining reservations if you have long to-do lists for your park days. If you dream of accomplishing all the rides in the parks or hope to watch every entertainment option, you likely won’t have time for long sit-down meals. 50s Prime Time Cafe in Disney World Trying to schedule Lightning Lanes around dining reservations can also be stressful. Navigating the parks with multiple pre-made plans will have you zig-zagging all over the place! You Have a Tight Budget One of the most common reasons to skip table service meals is because they can be costly! By dining at quick service restaurants or snack stands, you could save quite a bit of money — money that you can then use to buy souvenirs or more snacks. Sebastian! Especially if you’re the type to get appetizers, drinks, and desserts, table service dining can add up quickly. Even if you swap ONE table service meal per day for a quick service alternative, you can cut down on your spending for your trip significantly. What You Should Do INSTEAD So if you’re not making dining reservations in advance of your trip, what should you do? Well, there are a few options. Mama Melrose’s First of all, you could dine at one of Disney World’s many quick service restaurants or snack stands. Plenty of those spots actually have pretty good food, and you’ll be able to get decent portion sizes for lower prices. We have quite a few favorite spots around the parks, including Columbia Harbour House, Connections Eatery, Woody’s Lunch Box, Satu’li Canteen, and Flame Tree Barbecue. Seating area at Woody’s Lunch Box If you still want to dine table service but just don’t want to make plans in advance, you can try the Walk-Up Waitlist feature in the My Disney Experience app. This option allows you to check and see which table service restaurants have last-minute availability. If it’s not too busy in the parks, there should be at least a few restaurants with wait times listed. ©Disney And of course, one of our favorite table service hacks is to visit the Disney World lounges! There are many lounges spread throughout Disney World that don’t offer reservations, but take visitors entirely based on walk-ups. Some of these spots have really unique entree and small plate options, as well. It’s a great way to blend a table service meal with a more casual atmosphere! Lounge-style seating So there you go — those are the times when it might not be a good idea to make dining reservations. The EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival is one that just keeps the new eats coming! Let’s try the new menu! The Farmer’s Feast Booth is one of our favorites because it features a rotating seasonal menu which means we get to keep coming back for more. We checked out the Early Bloom Menu, followed by the Springtime Menu, and now we’re bringing you our review of the Summer Solstice Menu! Menu Summer Solstice (Available April 28 through May 27): Summer Solstice Menu Seared Pork Tenderloin with corn risotto featuring BEN’S ORIGINAL INTERNATIONAL GRAINS Arborio Rice and roasted red pepper sauce (New) Peach Galette with ginger-vanilla whipped cream (New) Let’s get down to business! Eats First up, we grabbed the Seared Pork Tenderloin with corn risotto featuring BEN’S ORIGINAL International Grains Arborio Rice and roasted red pepper sauce. You can grab this one for $7. We saw a similar pork tenderloin at this booth back in 2022, but we’re excited to see this new take! Seared Pork Tenderloin This dish had some great flavors that worked really well together! The seared tenderloin looked tough, but it was actually rather tender — if a bit dry from sitting under a heat lamp for a few minutes. There was a nice crust on the outside that had good flavors; it was nicely spiced without being spicy. The corn risotto was incredibly creamy and paired nicely with the spice of the tenderloin, while the red pepper sauce added a subtle depth of flavor without being too overpowering. Seared Pork Tenderloin And, to finish things off with dessert we had the Peach Galette with ginger vanilla whipped cream for $5.75. This was essentially an open-faced peach turnover (and we’re certainly not complaining!) Peach Galette The galette was soft but flaky at the same time and had a nice crunch from the crystallized sugar. The peach slices are fresh and lightly caramelized on top which added a nutty sort of flavor that worked well with the crust. The ginger vanilla whipped cream was such an interesting touch and the ginger added a little spice to an otherwise sweet dessert. We really liked this! Peach Galette So, is this version of the Farmer’s Feast menu worth a trip to EPCOT? Overall Overall, we really liked the two new items here. The seared pork tenderloin would make for a light lunch and feature those warm summer flavors thanks to the corn and the red pepper sauce. And how can you say no to a peach dessert in the summer?! We think the new Summer Solstice Menu at Farmer’s Feast is definitely worth a visit. Tell them DFB sent ya! Full Spread Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news! The One Ride You Should NEVER Rope Drop in EPCOT
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
Rope dropping the Disney World parks is a fine art. Crowds at rope drop in Hollywood Studios It takes precision, planning, and cunning to make the most of the first few hours of the day in Disney World. You need to know exactly where you want to go before you even hit the ground, lest you waste any of that valuable pre-crowd time. And we’re here to WARN you about a common mistake when rope dropping EPCOT! If you’re planning to arrive in EPCOT before it opens, then you’re a dedicated bunch! The park has fewer rides than Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom, but there are still some heavy hitters with good rope drop potential. However, there’s one ride you need to AVOID in the morning. EPCOT One mistake we see probably hundreds of people make every day in EPCOT is rope dropping Spaceship Earth. You know, the giant geodesic sphere at the front of the park with a ride inside? Yeah, that one. EPCOT Why shouldn’t you do this? Because Spaceship Earth is a relatively chill ride, and that means that it doesn’t usually have a high wait time. However, its wait is typically the longest first thing in the morning because it’s right there at the front of the park. People see the first ride in their walking path and just get in line. It gets so busy in the morning! Instead of wasting 30 minutes waiting for Spaceship Earth when the park opens, we encourage you to head further back. A good use of rope drop time would be riding something like Soarin’ Around the World, Test Track, or Frozen Ever After. Frozen Ever After You may notice that we left Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure off of that list. While the ride is new and popular, it also hits a peak first thing in the morning because it’s the closest attraction to the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT (the back entrance located between France and the UK in World Showcase). You’d be better off doing that one a little later in the morning or last thing at night. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure So there you go — advice for how to successfully rope drop from people who visit Disney World every single day. We won’t steer you wrong! Pixar Fest is happening now at Disneyland Resort — and runs through August 4th — and we’re back to check out even more specialty treats today! Barley and Ian at Pixar Fest You’ll find a full menu of limited-time treats at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and even Downtown Disney for this year’s Pixar Fest! We’re checking out some MORE of the special treats today…let’s see what we’re snacking on! First up, some new snacks in Disneyland Park! The Marigold Bridge We’re starting out with a dessert inspired by Coco — The Marigold Bridge at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante! Here she is! This new cupcake is made with a tri-colored white sponge, cinnamon croquantine, cinnamon mousse, and cream cheese frosting decorated with a chocolate bridge and orange chocolate shavings. It’s available for $6.99. It’s very pretty! This was lightly sweetened, and the main flavor we got here was cream cheese — we couldn’t taste much of the cinnamon at all. The cake was moist and fluffy, but it ultimately just tasted like a plain cupcake with cream cheese frosting. Inside the cupcake If you like low-key cupcakes, this might be the dessert for you. But if you’re hoping for those unique flavors to really come through strongly, we suggest snagging something else. BBQ Potato Dog Next up, we’re heading to Refreshment Corner for a Toy Story-themed snack — the BBQ Potato Dog. This dish features smoked sausage, BBQ pulled pork, coleslaw, fried onions, and green onions served in a baked potato. BBQ Potato Dog This pricey treat is $15.49. The first flavors that come through are a smokiness from the sausage and a strong BBQ flavor from the sauce. We really appreciated the light, refreshing flavor of the coleslaw and the crunch from the onions. BBQ Potato Dog Honestly, we had zero complaints here! The potato was nice and soft, and it soaked up some of the sauce. This was really filling, so even though it’s on the pricier side, it felt somewhat worth the cost. Inside the potato So if you want something hefty and filling (and very meaty!), we suggest you check it out! Luigi & Guido Cone At the Cozy Cone 3, you’ll find the Luigi & Guido Cone inspired by Cars! Luigi & Guido Cone This snack featured cheese tortellini, Pomodoro sauce, and mozzarella topped with basil panko and served in a bread cone. You can snag it for $10.99. Look at that pasta This was mostly cheesy with hints of basil and tomato. The tortellini was warm and fresh, and if you got a bite with mozzarella it was extra cheesy! The Pomodoro sauce was light and refreshing, which was a much-needed balance overall. The basil panko was strong if you got too much of it, but in smaller doses it helped season the cone. Tortellini Honestly, we really liked this one! If you’re in the mood for a carbo-load, make sure to try it out. Adventure Is Out There! Sundae If you’re searching for something sweet, the Adventure is Out There! Sundae from Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream might be it! Let’s try a sundae! This sundae is made with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, and a candied balloon in a waffle cup for $9.29. And you know what? It’s hard to go wrong with a hot fudge sundae! It’s so cute! The ice cream was rich, thick, and full of good vanilla flavor. The fudge balanced it out with a deeper chocolate flavor, and the sugar decor on top just really added to the fun overall look of the treat. This was a smidge heavy on the chocolate with both the fudge and the chocolate-dipped bowl, so be warned if you’re not a die-hard chocoholic. A classic! If you’re a fan of a classic sundae, make sure to snag this during Pixar Fest! Shake 2319 And finally, over at Schmoozies! you’ll find Shake 2319 inspired by Monsters, Inc. Let’s try a milkshake! This shake is a vanilla, orange, guava, and pineapple shake with shaved coconut, whipped topping, and an orange cone. You can grab one for $9.79. 2319 Shake This was incredibly refreshing with some tropical vibes. The main flavor that comes through is vanilla-orange, like a creamsicle. You get hints of guava and pineapple throughout, but you don’t really taste the coconut unless you mix it in. Our one complaint is that the tiny cone was kind of stale and had more of an artificial orange flavor. If you’re a fan of fruity desserts, you can’t miss out on this! We love the look of this one! This is just a few MORE of the specialty snacks you’ll find at this year’s Pixar Fest! And remember, the special Pixar Fest food booths open up in Disney California Adventure on May 10th and we’ll be eating all the food that day! ©Disney Stay tuned for more fun from this year’s Pixar Fest at Disneyland! Grab your popcorn! Walt Disney Studios Disney has a TON of upcoming movies and shows on the horizon, each one more exciting sounding than the last. In fact, there were over 30 remakes, reboots, and sequel movies in the works at Walt Disney Studios last we checked. We just got a look at the very first trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King coming soon. We’ve known about this live-action prequel for a while, but we’ve officially got our first look at what the movie will look like. ©Disney “A lion who would change our lives forever.” Mufasa: The Lion King tells the story of Mufasa and his rise to being the king of the Pride Lands. The story is being relayed by Rafiki to Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala. The story will be told through flashbacks, beginning with Mufasa as an orphaned cub. The movie promises an “expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny.” The movie looks like it will be full of action and features a fantastic cast of voice actors. Summer in Disney World this year is going to be a LOT different than previous summers. Cinderella Castle You see, this summer, a lot of NEW things are coming to Disney World, and we think we could see some serious summer crowds! So why do we think the crowds are coming to Disney World this summer? Well, we have three reasons that we think will bring a lot of folks to the parks. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be opening this summer in Magic Kingdom, and this is one highly-anticipated ride. The hype is REAL now that Disney has revealed details about some of the ride’s characters and shown off the ride’s incredible animatronics. There are going to be LOADS of people wanting to be the first to ride this attraction, plus possible early previews could bring Annual Passholders, D23 Members, DVC Members, and more people to the park ahead of its opening (though we haven’t seen any announcement about previews yet). Tiana’s Bayou Adventure We remember the crazy crowds and lines on the last day of Splash Mountain, and we expect Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to have similar crowds at least during its first month after opening. NEW QUEUE DETAILS Revealed for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World Country Bear Jamboree We never thought we’d see the day when the Country Bears created crowds in Magic Kingdom, but here we are. We still can’t get over how long the lines were the day Country Bear Jamboree closed down for a refurbishment to get a whole new act. Yes, the Country Bears are learning some new songs, and they’re set to premiere a new show this summer. A new show is coming! Between Country Bear Jamboree and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Magic Kingdom is going to be BUSY this summer. So if you’re headed to Disney World, prepare for crowds! What’s REALLY Changing at Country Bear Jamboree in Magic Kingdom EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Yes, the festival isn’t even starting until late August this year (for the first time since 2019). The past few years, the festival has started earlier in the summer — and it brings more people into the parks. However, we think Disney feels so confident about summer crowds this year that it felt it didn’t need a festival to bring people to Disney World. The 2023 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival started in July As it stands, there is no festival happening during most of the summer, but Disney seems to think that it’s not needed. If Disney thinks the people are going to be visiting this summer, then we know that the summer could be very scary in Disney World this year, and not JUST because of the heat and humidity. One HUGE Change Is Coming to the 2024 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival! So if you’re headed to Disney World this summer, you might want to pack some extra patience with your cooling towels, neck fans, and water bottles. Things could get a little busy. Disney World’s free transportation system really can’t be beat. It’s FREE, for starters, but it’s also efficient and convenient. Disney Springs Between Disney World buses, the Monorail, the Skyliner, and boats, you can get to pretty much anywhere you need to go on Disney World property. But sometimes closures can happen that can affect how you get from point A to point B. For example in bad weather, the Skyliner closes. Other circumstances also affect transportation, and we’ve got a closure to warn you about right now. As of April 28th, the Sassagoula River Cruise Boats are currently closed. These are the boats that ferry Disney World visitors between Disney Springs and Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter. The boats are closed We spoke with a Cast Member who could not confirm why the boats are closed, but we’re fairly certain it’s not weather-related since it was a beautiful day in Disney World on the day we noticed the closure. It is also uncertain if the boats will be back up and running again tomorrow. It was a beautiful day! If you are visiting Disney World and need to get to or from Disney Springs from one of those hotels, buses are running. At Disney Springs, you can find the buses at the Town Center Bus Depot located between the Lime and Orange garages. The boat dock in Disney Springs Last year, the boats closed in June due to low water levels and were closed again in August due to construction on a retaining wall near the bridge. When we asked Cast Members about the issue, we were told that it’s possible that this is again due to low water levels, and if the area continues to encounter a lack of rain, it could be an ongoing concern. We’ll be keeping an eye on the situation and let you know when the boats are running again, so stay tuned to DFB for more. It’s time! Pixar Fest officially opened on April 26th at Disneyland Resort — and runs through August 4th — and we’re checking out this celebration of all things Pixar from food, to merchandise, to parades, and more! Pixar Fest 2024 And right now, we’re here to talk about THE FOOD! There’s a full menu of limited-time treats that you’ll find at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and even Downtown Disney! We’re checking out some of the special treats today…let’s see what we’re snacking on! First up, some new snacks in Disneyland Park! Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor Our first stop is for ice cream! At Gibson Girl, you’ll find the Eye Scream Cone inspired by Monsters, Inc.! This is a scoop of Pistachio ice cream dipped in green chocolate, garnished with a candy eye and horns. Eye Scream Cone If you’re a fan of pistachio ice cream this might be the snack for you. However, if you don’t care pistachios this might not be the treat for you. The shell tasted like white chocolate and didn’t melt. But the ice cream inside it did, which made it a little messy. For the price, we thought it might be a little expensive for one scoop of ice cream, but it is certainly a creative treat! Isn’t it almost too cute to eat? You can snag this specialty cone for $9.29. The Tropical Hideaway We’re taking a break in the tropics to check out the new Pineapple Coconut Float inspired by Lava. This non-boozy drink features Blue DOLE Pineapple-Coconut Juice topped with DOLE Whip soft serve, strawberry lava, and a gummy! Pineapple Coconut Float It’s blue! And DOLE Whip! And a lot of fun. It was a very refreshing treat and all the flavors worked really well together! The tartness of the pineapple went deliciously with the strawberry “lava.” It’s a perfect summer day snack that makes you feel like you’re eating a little healthier because of all the fruity flavors (so that’s a win, right?). Yum! This special DOLE Whip float is priced at $9.29. Troubadour Tavern Next, we’re headed to Troubadour Tavern for the all-new Firetown Mac & Cheese Bites inspired by Elemental. Firetown Mac & Cheese Bites These Fried Gouda mac and cheese bites tossed in four-chile rub are soft and chewy goodness! If you like spice, this will do it for ya. It was spicier than we were expecting. We were hit with spice and then got small flavors of cheese underneath. Even though it was spicy, it wasn’t overdone. If you don’t like spice, you might want to skip them, but anyone who enjoys a bit of heat will like them! So good! You can buy these spicy bites for $11.49! We’re also checking out a new snack in Disney California Adventure today! Churros near Goofy’s Sky School At the churro stand near Goofy’s Sky School we’re checking out the new Mr Potato Head Chip Churro! This churro is inspired by Toy Story and features a churro topped with crushed potato chips and a chocolate drizzle. Yum! This sweet and salty snack is possibly the best churro we’ve had in a long time. It was a warm churro that blended the sweet, salty, and chocolate flavors beautifully. We hope we can grab it again before it goes away! If you don’t like sweet and salty foods, then you’ll probably want to skip it, but we were big fans of the flavor combinations. Like chocolate-covered potato chips on a churro! You can buy your own Mr. Potato Head Chip Churro for $7.25! These are just a few of the specialty snacks you’ll find at this year’s Pixar Fest! Stay tuned as we check out even more! Disney World hotels have a lot going on right now…and by a lot…we mean a LOT of construction. Disney’s Yacht Club This is especially true with Disney World’s deluxe hotels. Many of them are under construction in some way. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting a brand new Disney Vacation Club Villas building. The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been under construction for what feels like FOREVER. There’s a ton of construction at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn to bring TWO new dining spots to the area. And, well, another Disney World hotel will be undergoing construction in 2025. An announcement on Disney World’s website notifies visitors that some guest rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will be under refurbishment from January through May 2025. Now, we don’t know if some rooms are going to get an update, refresh, or a re-theme, but something is definitely happening early next year. ©Disney Meanwhile, we’d also like to remind you that the pool shared by Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resorts, Stormalong Bay, will be closed around the same time — from January through June 2025. That means you’ll want to take both construction projects into consideration if you’re making plans for a Disney World trip during that time. This is one of the best pools in Disney World, but both resorts have other pool options as well. Stormalong Bay If you have already booked a stay for 2025 at Disney’s Yacht Club, you may want to reconsider and book a different hotel during that time, depending on how sensitive you are to noise and if you have plans to use the pool.
