  1. We’ve recently gotten some massive announcements regarding Universal’s Epic Universe which is set to open in 2025. Who else is STOKED?! Here we go! to Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe ©Universal While we’ve been keeping up with its construction progress at both the theme park and its 3 new hotels, Universal has been introducing us to each of its lands one by one. Now, we’re getting MORE details about one of the lands that’s sure to be an instant hit — Super Nintendo World! Epic Universe’s Super Nintendo World will be home to 3 new rides and attractions but that’s not all you’ll find here! There are also a few interactive elements and meet and greets you’ll find scattered throughout the land that exist to really immerse you into the land! Let’s take a look at what you’ll be able to do here! ©Universal There will be two different areas within Super Nintendo World: Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country. Super Mario Land ©Universal Super Mario Land will be home to two attractions, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure. While Donkey Kong Country will have one attraction, Mine-Cart Madness. Donkey Kong Country ©Universal Let’s take a closer look at these rides coming to Super Nintendo World! Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge We’ve already seen a version of this ride in both existing Super Nintendo World lands in Universal Japan and Universal Studios Hollywood and now it’s time for Orlando to join in on the fun! You will be able to find this ride inside of Super Mario Land in Super Nintendo World. Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge ©Universal This ride combines practical sets and decoration along with virtual reality using special glasses to put you right in the driver’s seat of the popular video game series. You will enter through Bowser’s Castle and then hop into your kart as part of Team Mario. Just like in the Mario Kart video games, you will be collecting coins and items, driving through obstacles, and tossing items at Team Bowser. Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge at Universal Studios Hollywood Since this is already in existence at other Universal Studios theme parks around the world, it makes sense that Universal Orlando would want to keep the ride similar to what folks already know (and apparently love)! We’ve already taken a spin on this ride at Universal Studios Hollywood so be sure to check it out at the link below! Want to know more about what it’s like to ride Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge? See it HERE! Yoshi’s Adventure Along with some fun new Yoshi merchandise, it appears Epic Universe will also be getting a Yoshi-themed ride! Yoshi’s Adventure ©Universal You will be able to join the Yoshis on a search for glowing eggs throughout Mushroom Kingdom. Don’t worry — Yoshi’s not going to take you out for a speed lap around Super Nintendo World. The brightly colored Yoshi ride vehicles will move at a slow-moving pace making this a great option for the whole family. You will encounter lots of familiar characters and enjoy views of Super Mario Land. Mine-Cart Madness This next ride announced was one we’ve been keeping a watch over for some time already and now we FINALLY have its official name (and details)! This ride will be located inside of Donkey Kong Country. Mine-Cart Madness ©Universal On this attraction you will hop into a mine cart and help Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong protect the golden banana. This ride will send us on a thrilling adventure with lots of jaw-dropping maneuvers like getting shot out of a barrel, jumping over gaps, and more. This “boom coaster” style ride will feature the illusion of jumping over sections of missing and broken tracks. If you just can’t wait to take a ride along with Donkey and Diddy Kong, you might not have to wait too long if you’re willing to travel! A Donkey Kong roller coaster is being built in Universal Studios Japan called Mine-Cart Madness and is expected to open soon. Interactive Elements These fun interactive elements will be scattered all throughout the land allowing its visitors to collect coins, unlock special areas, and compete in various other mini games featuring some of the most notable Nintendo and Mario characters. If you’re looking to get in on the fun, you can play at your own pace around Super Nintendo World by purchasing a Power-Up Band to link to all of these experiences. Power Up Bands ©Universal You will be able to collect coins by punching “?” blocks and taking part in interactive activities. You will also be able to collect digital stamps while on attractions, and earn digital keys to be able to showdown against Bowser Jr. There will be even more hidden surprises too, and you will be able to see where you rank on Leaderboard screen in the land. Mario and Luigi Meet and Greet In addition to the interactive elements, you will also have the opportunity to meet Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad in various areas within Super Mario Land. Mamma mia! Mario and Luigi Meet and Greet ©Universal There’s already so much we’re looking forward to experiencing at Super Nintendo World when it opens at Epic Universe in 2025! 4. If you’ve been waiting for the “hype” to die down about 1900 Park Fare reopening at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort we can totally understand why. This beloved restaurant has recently reopened after 4 long years of waiting for its return with divisive changes from its former meals and characters. 1900 Park Fare Although we loved our initial meals here on its reopening day, we have to admit that we were left with a burning question. Did we really love it as much as we thought or were we just so happy to have it back in any capacity that we were thrilled with it regardless? Well, it seems like there was only one good way to put this to rest… a return visit! So off we were to another meal at 1900 Park Fare! As soon as we stepped up to the doors it was like coming home again to be able to dine inside its spacious dining room. We were greeted by the restaurant’s cast members and ushered to our table almost immediately. Welcome back! However, should you have to wait there is a small waiting area between the check-in desk and stepping into the dining room for you to hang around and look at the artwork and themed wallpaper while you wait on your table. Waiting area Once we sat down at our table, we were shown a menu of specialty drinks which included non-alcoholic beverages, we placed our order and waited for its arrival. Since we had already tried a few of these out, we decided to try another off of the menu that piqued our interest as well — the Passion Fruit Daquiri. Passion Fruit Daquiri Since this is an alcoholic specialty drink it is a separate cost at $16. It tastes just like you would expect a boozy version of passion fruit juice to taste. It had a very forward taste of what you’ll get from the passion fruit in the POG juice that’s popular across Disney World for breakfast without the added orange and guava juice to really enhance that flavor. It was very sweet though, so expect for this one to be sweeter than just normal juice. So delicious! Then it was time to browse the buffet for our main course! Dinner here is served buffet style with lots of options between, salads… Salads and sides … bread and cheese… Bread and cheese … and heartier sides and entree options like kid-friendly options in pizza and chicken nuggets,… Some of the buffet … and even Tiana’s Gumbo! Tiana’s Gumbo over jasmine rice There’s even a carving station of meats where we noticed a subtle change already in the menu! On this visit, our carved meat options were the juicy, tender Prime Rib AND the Spice Roasted Turkey! This was different from our last meal here where Porchetta was at the carving station along with the prime rib. When we asked the chef about the change so soon in the menu, he mentioned to us that there’s actually a 3rd option that’s on rotation, too! On any given night you’ll have an option of porchetta, spice-roasted turkey, or ham in addition to the consistent prime rib (don’t panic, you’ll always have this option each night)! Carving station with Prime Rib and Porchetta The portions here are what you make of them and no one will bat an eye at you if you ask for a second cut (or take multiple plates back) for more carved meats. Way too beige, right? The desserts here were also the same, so we picked up a few of our favorites from the last visit including the Grand Floridian Financier, Lemon-Blueberry Cheesecake, and the chocolate cake. We hope you saved room for desserts! And you know our visit wouldn’t have been complete without a serving of the famous Strawberry Soup! The star of the evening So you may be wondering about the characters and if they still were just as lovely as an experience as we had before? We’re happy to report that we were very pleased with their visits still! Hey, Aladdin! Each of the characters took their time to come around and speak to us with ample time for both conversation and photos before the wishing ceremony happened. Then, once the ceremony was over, the “wishmakers” all left the dining area and gave us plenty of time to eat from our plates and visit the buffet again (for desserts or seconds) before they were gearing up to make another round to visit around the dining room. Tiana even showed off her wedding band! Overall, our experience exceeded our expectations once again. We’ve eaten EVERYWHERE at Disney World (including both of the new meals at this restaurant). 7. We recently found a very elusive snack in Disney World, and that’s not even the biggest problem. The BIGGEST problem is that it’s elusive, and ALSO happens to be one of our favorite new snack discoveries. Tower of Terror Cookie The Terror Cookie can be found at the Joffrey’s stand near the stomach-dropping Tower of Terror ride for $6.38. We knew it was available, but it has clearly been in the Twilight Zone because no matter how often we checked for it, it was never to be found. A Cast Member confirmed that it is hardly ever put out, and so we were HEARTBROKEN, because it’s delicious. Well, we just discovered something revolutionary. We were doing some research on where to find various Joffrey’s treats in the parks (just food reporter things), and we discovered that the company who makes the gigantic Joffrey’s cookies (like our beloved Terror Cookie) is Sweet Cups Cookies. ©SweetCupsCookies Upon further investigation, we found that the website is set up for SHIPMENTS. Yes, it’s basically a cookie delivery service where you can order these gigantic sweet treats directly to your home. It’s like a snail mail cookie company, and it’s glorious. S’mores cookie from Joffrey’s That’s not even the best part though. The BEST part is that they have our beloved Terror Cookie. ©SweetCupsCookies There’s only one thing…standard shipping was $18.95 within the state of Florida, so it could be even more if you live out of state. To order one cookie, it was nearly $27! So, it might be worth it to order multiple if you deem the $20 shipping worth it. Terror Cookie at the Tower of Terror Joffrey’s Cart Plus, standard shipping takes around a week, so you still wouldn’t get your cookies in a timely manner. If you’re all for gourmet cookies and delayed gratification, then this website is totally for you. We’re at Disney World every single day to try new treats and keep an eye on all the menus, rides, and merch shops. We also love to take a deep dive into some desserts, and when we do, we often find hacks like this one! 9. Disney World is magical at night. Cinderella Castle at night Main Street, U.S.A. lights up, the castle glows, Spaceship Earth becomes a beacon of magic, and the Tree of Life comes to life! Night owls get to experience the lights and spectacle of Disney World once the sun goes down. The heat from that punishing Orlando sun begins to fade, and the crowds disperse to grab dinner or crash into their beds after a full day in the parks. Whether you’re enjoying the nighttime fireworks display, some classic Disney attractions, or just milling about with a snack, you’ll need to know when the parks close so you can meander back to your resort or home. After Hours event in Hollywood Studios Magic Kingdom As the flagship theme park of Disney World, and one of the most popular, Magic Kingdom is often open the latest. It has the most attractions of any of the other parks, so it makes sense that it might require some more time for guests to be able to explore all it has to offer. Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom during an After Hours event During the busiest seasons, around the Christmas holidays, New Year’s, Spring Break, Easter, and some summer months, you can expect a later closing time, around 11PM or even later! Magic Kingdom also hosts special ticketed After Hours Events, when on certain days, it will stay open even later for select guests who purchased the event ticket. These events give ticket holders an additional three hours in the park after it closes to resort guests for an even more magical time in the park with virtually no attraction lines and even some snacks included! TRON Lightcycle / Run at night During the rest of the year, Magic Kingdom will typically close at 9PM or 10PM. If you happen to be staying at one of Disney’s Deluxe Resorts or DVC Villas, you can even stay in the park for an additional 2 hours on select nights! Be sure to check the Extended Evening Hours for when those take place! Sign at Magic Kingdom on a party night Be aware, though. There are some times when Magic Kingdom closes EARLY for holiday parties! On select nights starting in August, Magic Kingdom will close to regular guests at 6PM but stay open for guests who have purchased tickets for either the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. If you don’t plan to attend one of these parties, you’ll want to plan your Magic Kingdom day strategically so you can get the most out of your park day! Click HERE for a Full List of Disney World Park Hours EPCOT An evening stroll around World Showcase is always a good idea! Evenings at EPCOT are so versatile. You can enjoy meandering along with your favorite international snack (lookin’ at you, School Bread), or sipping on a favorite libation (why hello there, Grand Marnier Orange Slush), or perhaps just sittin’ next to Walt in Celebration Gardens. EPCOT at night EPCOT has one of the most predictable schedules; it typically closes at 9pm, year-round. Like Magic Kingdom, EPCOT also hosts special ticketed After Hours Events, when on certain days, it will stay open even later for select guests who purchased the event ticket. These events give ticket holders an additional three hours in the park after it closes to resort guests for an even more magical time in the park with virtually no attraction lines and even some snacks included! <3 If you happen to be staying at one of Disney’s Deluxe Resorts or DVC Villas, you can even stay in the park for an additional 2 hours on select nights! Be sure to check the Extended Evening Hours for when those take place! Click HERE for a Full List of Disney World Park Hours Disney’s Hollywood Studios Hollywood Studios, embracing the creative spirit that inspired her, has relatively predictable yet fluid closing times. Most nights during the year, this park will close at either 9PM or 10PM—and that can vary from night to night within the same week! So, keep your MyDisneyExperience app up and accessible on your phone to make sure you know what’s going on when you’re there. Nearly empty! During busier times, like around the holidays and Spring Break, park hours might be pushed until 11 p.m. This means you have PLENTY of time to grab those amazing photos of you and your glowing lightsaber in front of the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (or in front of a TIE Fighter, if you’re embracing your Dark Side). Lightsabers in Galaxy’s Edge Like its sister theme parks, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, Hollywood Studios also hosts special ticketed After Hours Events, when on certain days, it will stay open even later for select guests who purchased the event ticket. These events give ticket holders an additional three hours in the park after it closes to resort guests for an even more magical time in the park with virtually no attraction lines and even some snacks included! Jollywood Nights In 2023, Hollywood Studios had a holiday celebration called Jollywood Nights. On select nights in November and December, when Jollywood Nights was in full swing, Hollywood Studios would close to regular guests at 6PM but stay open for guests who have purchased tickets for the holiday party. We don’t know yet if this special evet will be returning. If you don’t plan to attend one of these parties, you’ll want to plan your Hollywood Studios day strategically so you can get the most out of your park day! Click HERE for a Full List of Disney World Park Hours Disney’s Animal Kingdom Animal Kingdom is usually one of the earliest parks to close throughout the year because they need the time to care for the animals every evening. And because of the animals, and making sure that they receive the best care possible, you also won’t find fireworks shows at this park, or loud and boisterous evening spectaculars. The sensitivity and welfare of the animals that call this park home are a priority over some crashes and flashes in the sky. But that doesn’t mean that this park is without its post-sunset charms! Tree of Life after dark Every evening you can watch the Tree of Life come to life, with a beautiful (and sometimes tear-jerking) projection show. And let’s be honest, we’ve often found ourselves wondering under the sparkling lights and lanterns around the Feathered Friends in Flight theatre in Asia. Animal Kingdom usually closes soon after sunset throughout the year, which means you’ll find park closing between 6PM and 8PM most nights. Animal Kingdom at twilight Disney has promoted a new evening drone show coming to Disney Springs for Summer 2024, and we’re hoping that perhaps that could lead to a new nighttime show around the Tree of Life, but time will tell! Click HERE for a Full List of Disney World Park Hours Water Parks Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon both have some tried-and-true park hours that don’t deviate often. You can typically enjoy the wave pools, lazy rivers, and thrilling water slides until 5PM or 6PM. Typhoon Lagoon There are some nights when one of the water parks is open for special events, like DVC Moonlight Magic Events. But those typically take place after the park has already closed for day guests and don’t usually affect park hours. Click HERE for a Full List of Disney World Park Hours Disney Springs Does Disney Springs even close? Well, yes, it does! But the exact closing time can be a little tricky. Disney Springs technically closes at 11PM from Sundays through Thursdays and 11:30PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Disney Springs gets more crowded at night! Most dining locations stay open until 11PM, while some stores may close at 10PM. This schedule varies seasonally, so be sure to check your specific destination before you make plans. 10. It’s time for another big Disney anniversary! Merch Wall! We’ve already celebrated Disney World’s 50th Anniversary as well as The Walt Disney Company’s 100th Anniversary, but now it’s time to honor one of the theme parks! May 1st, 2024 marks the 35th Anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the park is celebrating with some exclusive merchandise. To check out the special 35th Anniversary collection, we had to join a limited-time virtual queue. Getting a boarding group through the virtual queue allowed access to Stage 1 Company Store, where the new collection has dropped. A virtual queue… for merch! To access the virtual queue, we needed to go to the virtual queues section of the My Disney Experience app homepage. From there, we selected Disney’s Hollywood Studios to find the correct queue. The virtual queue opened at 7AM, and we selected the option for the “Disney’s Hollywood Studios 35th Anniversary event. Once in the queue, it functioned the same way a virtual queue for an attraction like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind does. When our time came, we were alerted via push notification and had 30 minutes to get to Studio 1, check in, and join a physical queue line to enter the store. “The waiting is the hardest part…” When our boarding group was called and we arrived at the shop, we found a treasure trove of 35th Anniversary merchandise for the park. There were t-shirts in various colors and styles including light blue… Hollywood Studios 35th merch! …navy… Hollywood Studios 35th merch! …and white and blue sleeved-baseball quarter-sleeve… Hollywood Studios 35th merch! … which pairs well with this baseball cap. Hollywood Studios 35th merch! There were also two specialty pins, both featuring looks tied to the park. First up is the head cheese in his classic director gear… Hollywood Studios 35th merch! … and the second is Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, as he’s appeared in numerous shows and meet and greets at the park over the years including Fantasmic. Hollywood Studios 35th merch! The store also featured accessories including water bottles… Hollywood Studios 35th merch! …and a special edition Loungefly backpack. Hollywood Studios 35th merch! Finally, there were collectibles including a special Pandora bracelet charm… … and a really cool 35th Anniversary Mickey statue! Hollywood Studios 35th merch! 11. Yes, we go to McDonald’s a lot — but can you blame us? McDonald’s Not only do we need to satisfy that occasional craving for Chicken McNuggets and those AMAZING fries, but we also love when Disney and McDonald’s team up for new Happy Meal toys. We went a little nuts over those Walt Disney Company 100th anniversary figures. McDonald’s also often releases new Happy Meal toys ahead of a big Disney movie release, but now, some new Happy Meal toys that are coming soon might have just SPOILED a new Marvel movie. Oops. Captain America: Brave New World isn’t even set to release until February 2025, but McDonald’s is already offering new Happy Meal toys for that movie. The thing is…we haven’t even seen a TRAILER for the movie yet, but these new toys give us some pretty good insight into some of the film’s characters, including HUGE spoilers. ©McDonald’s The biggest spoiler here is, of course, Red Hulk, suggesting that he’ll be featured in the movie. Red Hulk’s alternate identity is Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who will be portrayed by Harrison Ford in the film. So are we going to get to see Ford Hulk out? These toys certainly suggest so. The toys also include two versions of Captain America, Diamondback, Falcon, the Redwing, Captain America’s shield, and Ruth-Bat Seraph/Sabra. ©McDonald’s So why are these toys coming out WAY before the movie is scheduled to come out? Well, did someone not tell McDonald’s that the film’s release date was changed? The original release date for Captain America: Brave New World was originally set for May 2024, but it was delayed due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes of 2023. So characters that haven’t even yet been confirmed have been spoiled with the toys that are coming out soon. ©McDonald’s We’ll have to keep an eye out for more details about Captain America: Brave New World, before it releases on February 14th, 2025. 12. We spend a LOT of time at the Disney World hotels! Port Orleans French Quarter From overnight stays to restaurant reviews to casual visits, we’ve been to every single Disney World resort countless times. And through those visits, we find that some spots are more popular than others! Today we’re sharing the two Disney World hotels that we find to be the most popular among our readers and Disney fans alike. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge First up, we’ve got a very popular choice with our readers, which is Disney’s Wilderness Lodge! This deluxe resort is located in the Magic Kingdom area, with boat access directly to the park entrance. Disney fans seem to love this one because of its charming mountain lodge-style atmosphere and delicious restaurants. Wilderness Lodge The resort is home to both regular rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas, and it has stunning grounds and walking paths. It’s close to a park without being on the busy Monorail loop, and we often find its lobby full of visitors relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. The Lobby of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort Whenever we ask our readers to share their favorite Disney World resort, this hotel gets answered VERY frequently. And we can’t say we blame them! Disney’s Pop Century Resort Since we picked one hotel on the deluxe end of the spectrum, we’ve also got to share with you Disney World’s most popular value resort — Pop Century Resort! This hotel is the cheapest option on the Disney Skyliner route, which means that it books up pretty quickly. Pop Century Resort Because of its location on the Skyliner route, Disney fans often choose Pop Century over the slightly cheaper All-Star Resorts (which only have bus transportation). With the Skyliner, you have easy access to Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is within walking distance. Skyliner The cheaper price point means that Pop Century is more accessible to a variety of guests. Even though it only has a food court and a pool bar, the easy transportation means that you can get to several higher-end restaurants in just a few minutes. It’s a pretty great deal! Disney’s Pop Century Resort So there you have it — the two most popular resorts in Disney World, according to Disney fans! If you’re hoping to stay at either of these spots, you’ll want to make your reservations as far in advance as possible, because they book up quickly. 14. How stoked are you for after-hours events at Disney World? Typhoon Lagoon After Hours Disney has some pretty special events that take place in the evenings after the parks have closed. This makes for some excellent opportunities to jump into much shorter lines and lower crowd levels overall. And that’s not all, because there can even be complimentary treats and drinks! We are big fans of attending these after-hours events. Another popular one is returning soon, and it’s almost time to get registered. Moonlight Magic has made its return in 2024 on select dates. This is a special after-hours event for Disney Vacation Club members. It’s complimentary with your membership, all you have to do is register. But the spaces do fill up! The next Moonlight Magic event is happening in Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon! Typhoon Lagoon After Hours June 4th marks the next Moonlight Magic event for DVC members in Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon! The event will feature meet-and-greets, entertainment, snacks and drinks, and lower wait times. Members who are staying at a Disney DVC resort the night of the event may have already been able to register for this event, but tomorrow, May 2nd, early registration opens! Typhoon Lagoon After Hours As long as the event is not filled up, all DVC members will be able to register on May 9th for the Moonlight Magic event in Typhoon Lagoon on June 4th. It is open to all eligible members. So if you’re a DVC member who is hoping to get in on some after-hours action in Typhoon Lagoon, make sure you’re ready to register tomorrow! 15. We can’t wait to check out the NEW Fantasy Springs Hotel located INSIDE Disney’s major theme park expansion: Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea. ©Disney This stunning new resort is set to open on June 6th, 2024, and we’ve been keeping an eye out for all the announcements and details Disney has shared about it! And, it must be our lucky day because we just got a new look at the Fantasy Springs Hotel! Disney shared a NEW look at the Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel. This park-integrated hotel is located right next to Fantasy Springs and it looks seriously incredible. It’s actually made up of two different hotels: the Grand Chateau and the Fantasy Chateau. ©Disney The interiors are inspired by Disney Princesses with flora and fauna with motifs themed to the port. There are also three dining experiences at the hotel: Fantasy Springs Restaurant, Grand Paradis Lounge, and La Libellule. This hotel opens on the same day as the Fantasy Springs park expansion: June 6th. ©Disney As we mentioned before, the Fantasy Springs Hotel is located INSIDE Fantasy Springs. Guests at this hotel get to go inside the theme park via their own exclusive entrance. ©Disney The Grand Chateau is “a luxury type,” and the Fantasy is “a deluxe type.” If you want to book the Fantasy Chateau, rooms start at 63,500 yen, which is $429.94 in USD. Grand Chateau rooms start at 300,000 yen, which is $2,031.23 USD. Depending on the room type and view that you book within each building, that price could be higher. ©Disney If you’re planning on staying at the Fantasy Springs Hotel, you can purchase the One-Day Passport: Fantasy Springs Magic to “enjoy Fantasy Springs to the fullest.” ©Disney Disney’s website says that “this ticket allows guests to enjoy the attractions at Fantasy Springs without specifying a time in advance, and with a reduced wait time.” ©Disney We’re keeping an eye out for all the latest news about Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea — and you might even catch us there when the park opens! 16. It is OFFICIALLY May! A brand-new month can mean a lot of different things at Disney World. Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs However, one of our favorite things that we get to find out at the beginning of each month is some of the limited-time food options you can find at a beloved Disney Springs spot. Yep, we’re talking about Gideon’s Bakehouse! Each month, a new roundup of specials arrive to Gideon’s, and now that it’s May, we have some new goodies! Alright, who’s ready to see those May offerings? Gideon’s shared on Facebook that May is all about PEANUT BUTTER. First up, you can get the Peanut Butter Cold Brew Cookie, which is a thick (almost half-poun) Peanut Butter Cookie laced with Freshly Ground Espresso and fully covered in chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese’s Pieces! Gideon’s said, “It should be overly sweet, but that Espresso Bean works to balance it all out for a unique and flavorful experience! This is available every day of May at both locations, with a limit of two per person.⁣ This is one of our favorite cookies to grab at Gideon’s, and we totally recommend it. The cookie in question! Next, here’s the Double Frosted Cake that has three layers of super soft Chocolate Cake with a full layer of our addicting Peanut Butter Buttercream and the shop’s Mocha Espresso Buttercream! Slices are available every Wednesday and Saturday this month at both shops with a limit of two per person. These slices of cake are HUGE and delicious. ©Gideon’s The Banana Nitro Cold Brew is also sticking around for another month at the Disney Springs location. ©Gideon’s Gideon’s said, “This is a special merch month, as the previous proprietor of our Disney Springs location reemerges in a different world. Jonathan Lindwurm returns on this month’s collectible menu and these lovely merch items! 17. Disneyland Resort has seen a ton of changes lately! Disney California Adventure In 2023, a newly updated ToonTown reopened, Tarzan’s Treehouse became Adventureland Treehouse, Haunted Mansion closed to get an updated queue area, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening later this year! But, something new has popped up at Disney California Adventure too — come check it out with us! A while back, we learned that Disney was installing a new type of turnstile at the Disney California Adventure entrance gates. The new turnstiles are automated to open after a Cast Member scans and validates a theme park ticket. Not only that, but the update has expanded the amount of available turnstiles and gates — and will also make them both stroller and ADA-compliant. Disney California Adventure We had previously seen the new turnstiles — but they weren’t in action quite yet, though we knew that Disney was testing them. New turnstiles But, we got to check out the new gates for ourselves on a recent visit! They feature a screen with a barcode scanner below, as well as a MagicBand+ tap point. Disney also removed the physical turnstiles from between the ticket scanners. It’s the end of an era! New turnstiles! The new system still has some things to work out, though. Our reporter said that before getting to the new gate, a Cast Member scanned his pass on his phone, and then he walked up and scanned his ticket from his phone under the screen. It’s supposed to take your photo and let you in, but it didn’t work and the Cast Member just ended up scanning his ticket again without the machine. Shortly after, Cast Members appeared to close the new entrances and reboot them. Both sets of new turnstiles were functioning again not too long after we scanned through. New turnstile Hopefully, once the kinks are worked out, the new turnstiles will make entering Disney California Adventure a bit faster, easier, and more user-friendly! 18. Knowing a thing or two about Disney World food is essentially my whole job. Okay, there’s more to it than that — but let’s just say the “research” part of it — trying new snacks — is my favorite part. Disney World But, when it comes to Magic Kingdom, it can be hard to figure out which snacks are worth your time and which ones are best left alone. Luckily, you have a new food editor best friend — and I’m telling you exactly what you should always eat in Magic Kingdom. I hope you’ve already eaten, because you’re going to be incredibly hungry after reading this — don’t say I didn’t warn you. There’s a reason these are on my must-eat list for Magic Kingdom! Fresh Fruit OR Spicy Chicken Waffle I am here to sing the praises of not one, but two different waffles. The Nutella & Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich or the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Liberty Square. The Nutella version is a classic Belgian waffle topped with a slather of rich, chocolatey Nutella and then smothered with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and banana. Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich If you’re looking for a more savory and sweet sandwich, try the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich. This sandwich is a deep-fried battered chicken breast ladled with some tasty sweet-and-spicy sauce. It is topped with a crunchy, tangy slaw and placed in a golden waffle. It’s the perfect combination of spicy and sweet, and it’s not too spicy either! Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich You may find that the fresh fruit waffle is only available at breakfast on occasion (so before 11AM) but we’ve seen it available all day lately! And, let’s be honest — who doesn’t want to eat waffles all day long? Cheeseburger Spring Rolls I will wait in an absurdly long line for Cheeseburger Spring Rolls, which are meaty, cheesy spring rolls that taste like a fast food cheeseburger, but surrounded by a golden, crispy shell instead of a bun. Usually, the Spring Roll Cart will offer Cheeseburger Spring Rolls along with one other specialty spring roll. Cheeseburger Spring Roll The specialty flavors tend to rotate, but they’ve had ones like Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Spring Rolls, Reuben Spring Rolls, Pepperoni Pizza Spring Rolls, and Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls. You get two spring rolls with your order, so you can get two of the same or one of each. They’re the perfect savory snack for when you want something delicious on the go! Corn Dog Nuggets OR Hand-Dipped Corn Dog Want to take your snack on the go? Look no further than Corn Dog Nuggies at Casey’s Corner. I’m not going to lie — I am extremely passionate about corn dogs so this suggestion may be biased. You get a little basket full of these fried, golden, delicious mini corn dogs that are perfectly poppable. Oh, and if you don’t order a side of plastic cheese for dipping — you are absolutely doing it wrong. Have you ever seen something so beautiful? Here’s the thing, though. The Hand-dipped Corn Dog over at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is a literal work of art. This bad boy means business and has the heft to prove it, so it isn’t for the faint of heart! But, the freshly fried, hand-dipped dog is what (my) dreams are made of. She’s lovely. Thank you for visiting Sam’s Corn Dog Corner. Dole Whip Let’s be real, here — it’s not a roundup of Magic Kingdom snacks without mentioning Dole Whip at Aloha Isle in Adventureland, right? Dole Whip has become a super popular Disney World snack and now you can find a version of it in all of the parks and even a dedicated spot, Swirls on the Water, in Disney Springs. Pineapple Dole Whip You can snag the original pineapple flavor, but they also serve vanilla and coconut flavors here too! And, if you’re looking for something extra fancy — grab the Tropical Serenade. It’s coconut Dole Whip swirled into a cup of the Disney-famous POG Juice (which is Passionfruit, Orange, and Guava) with an upside-down pineapple cake pop! Cheshire Cat Tail Looking for something sweet? The Cheshire Cat Tail at Cheshire Cafe in Fantasyland might be just the thing. This is basically a Chocolate Danish Twist dressed up with drizzles of pink and purple icing to resemble the mysterious and charming Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. The Cheshire Cat Tail is an iconic Magic Kingdom snack It’s simple, but sometimes that’s just what you need. I love grabbing a Cheshire Cat Tail and cold brew coffee for a quick and light breakfast when I’m in Magic Kingdom! It’s not too heavy for a day of walking around and riding rides! Creamy Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Tots The Creamy Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Tots at The Friar’s Nook in Fantasyland is a generous serving of super creamy mac and cheese topped with bacon and sour cream and garnished with green onions. Oh yeah — and tater tots. This is the opposite of a light snack but sometimes that’s exactly what you need! Creamy Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Tots at The Friar’s Nook If you’re not feeling the tots (I have one question: what is wrong with you?) you can order just the Creamy Bacon Macaroni and Cheese on its own, too. It’s just as good, but come on. Potatoes! You can boil ’em, mash ’em, stick ’em in a stew. No? Must be a Sam thing. Warm Cinnamon Roll If you’re looking for a tasty and filling breakfast, try the Warm Cinnamon Roll, but honestly, this cinnamon roll is too good to restrict to just one meal. This thing is HUGE and definitely shareable. It can definitely be dry at times, so asking for extra icing on the side is essential — and that’s coming from someone who is typically icing-averse. Is this the best cinnamon roll in Disney World? And, the icing on this cinnamon roll is what really sets it apart from other cinnamon rolls. The thick and creamy icing has a hint of maple flavor, which really compliments the cinnamon flavor. It makes for a great snack or dessert! Peanut Butter Cookie Pie I’m a peanut butter lover, so anytime there’s a dessert with peanut butter on the menu — it’s a pretty safe bet I’ll be ordering it. The Peanut Butter Cookie Pie from Main Street Confectionery is perfect because it’s not too sweet. This huge, soft, thick peanut butter cookie is topped with chocolate frosting. “But Sam, you said you didn’t like icing!” I know, I know. Hello Beautiful The chocolate frosting here serves an incredibly important purpose — as mortar for the Peanut M&Ms sprinkled on top! There’s also a bunch of peanut butter chips baked throughout the cookie base, which adds some nice texture and even MORE peanut butter flavor. Okay, now I’m drooling. At the end of the day, everyone has different tastes, but if you don’t agree with mine then you’re probably wrong. Kidding, of course! 25. Magic Kingdom is FULL of magical moments (well, dur, it is called MAGIC Kingdom for a reason). Cinderella Castle From being able to meet some of your favorite Disney characters, to riding classic Disney rides, to getting pixie dusted (literally, if you want), being in Magic Kingdom is like living in a fairy tale. No wonder why we love it so much! However, there is something you can do to make your Magic Kingdom experience even MORE, well, magical, and we’re going to tell you all about it. We’re sure if you’ve been to Magic Kingdom, you’ve watched the Happily Ever After fireworks from Main Street, U.S.A. But the next time you’re in Disney World, here’s what you need to do instead. Instead of heading to Main Street to see the fireworks, go behind Cinderella Castle in Fantasyland. You’ll want to be near Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Prince Charming Regal Carrousel Why would you want to do this? First, you’ll get a super unique view of the fireworks — and that’s always fun, right? But…if you’re lucky, you may get a surprise of ROYAL proportions. Sometimes, the princesses come out of Princess Fairytale Hall during the fireworks and hang out in that area for magical moments with kids (and adults, too!). This is such a unique way to see the fireworks, as well as see characters during the show. Ariel meeting in Fairytale Hall So we do have to warn you that this isn’t guaranteed to happen every night, and it’s not something you’ll find listed on the My Disney Experience app. It’s sort of one of those “if you know, you know” kind of things. So it may NOT happen, but it very well MAY happen and you’ll end up with a little extra magic to end your evening in Magic Kingdom. However, if you MUST meet the princesses and don’t want to take your chances, you can always visit them at Princess Fairytale Hall during the day. You can also book a meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table to get more quality time with the princesses in Magic Kingdom. Stay tuned to DFB for more.
