Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like Sahara Square and the Rainforest District, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where anyone can be anything. While this city is entirely populated by animals, Disney PhotoPass Service has the perfect opportunity “fur” humans to join in on the Zootopia fun when visiting Walt Disney World Resort! Get this Animated Magic Shot featuring Nick Wilde by visiting a Disney PhotoPass Photographer at the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park or on Hollywood Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. When it comes to DIY (do-it-yourself) projects, mine tend to involve chocolate. So I was happy to stop by the Candy Cauldron at Disney Springs last week to learn how to make one of the location’s classic treats – the Mickey Mouse Character Apple. Here’s what you’ll need: one Granny Smith apple, one candy apple stick, two marshmallows, melted caramel (any online recipe will do), melted white chocolate, melted milk chocolate, red granulated sugar and two yellow jelly beans. Check out the step-by-step tutorial with Confectioner Matt below. Would you believe that while the Mickey Mouse apple is a guest favorite, it isn’t the most popular character treat? I’ll be back next week with a tutorial on the shop’s #1 bestseller. In the meantime, place your guesses below! Check out these tutorials for other candy apples from the Candy Cauldron: Halloween How-To: ‘Witch Minnie’ Candy Apples Valentine’s DIY: Make Disney Bride & Groom Candy Apples Holiday How-To: Make Snowman Candy Apples View the full article

Pretty stinking excited about this. When we started to see signs that there would be brand new food kiosks coming to Disney Springs in the near future, we were all in! And now we have MENUS! AristoCrepes “Coming Soon” Today, we’re getting lots more details about the soon-to-open AristoCrepes, B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co., and the spot we just told you about this week — The Daily Poutine! Both The Daily Poutine and B.B. Wolfe’s will be opening on May 15, along with many other venues at Disney Springs. Expect to see Aristocrepes ready for business one week later on May 22. Here are some of the menu details that we have so far! The Daily Poutine We were instantly smitten with the news that a cart featuring Canada’s national food obsession, Poutine, would debut at Disney Springs! But we had the same question as many of you: would the kiosk take a purist’s tack with the dish, and only serve thick-cut Fries with Beef Gravy and Cheese Curds? Or would they branch out and try new flavors using the Poutine genre? The Daily Poutine is Coming to Disney Springs May 15! Well, we’re happy to report that the answer is: YES! While there will be an uber traditional version with the absolutely-non-negotiable CHEESE CURDS, there will also be some fun interpretations as well! What do you think of a Latin version, featuring with Fried Yucca in place of Potatoes, and topped with Black Beans, Pulled Pork, and Queso Fresco? We’re Totally Okay with Different Interpretations of Poutine :-) But then, there’s also going to be an Italian take on the dish. This one will come with Bocconcino Mozzarella and Bolognese Sauce. Finally, the French won’t be left out. We’ll be sure to savor Poutine topped with Mushroom Cream Sauce and Gruyere. And if all of those fries make you thirsty, you’ll be able to grab a drink as well. Choose from Beer on tap and Sangria as well as Lemonade and Soda. B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. If it’s Artisan Sausages that you crave, then head to B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co.! B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. Sign at Disney Springs There, you’ll find an assortment of interesting flavors. Look for lots of variety here, including a Three Little Pigs Trio. Flavors will include a Reuben Sausage, Bacon-wrapped with Black Bean Salsa and Chili Cheese; Portuguese Sausage with Pickled Vegetable Slaw and Chili Mustard; Sweet Hot Sausage with Peppers, Onions and Marinara; Bavarian Sausage Sandwich with a Mini-Meterwurst, Braised Red Cabbage and Spicy Brown Mustard on a Pretzel Roll; and Italian Veggie Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Marinara. Draft Beer and Fountain Sodas will also be available. They Had Us at Pretzel Rolls! No telling whether the Three Little Pigs Trio will feature your choice of all of the above, or if it’s a set combo. But we can’t wait to taste them and let you know! AristoCrepes Finally, get ready for some delicious takes on Crepes, as AristoCrepes makes its way to Disney Springs as well. AristoCrepes Sign at Disney Springs Do you prefer savory or sweet? Well, the good news is — you won’t have to choose! On Team Savory, you can enjoy Beef with Horseradish Cream, Red Onion, Baby Spinach and Sharp Cheddar. Or go for a Vegetarian option, featuring Pickled Beets, Goat Cheese, Candied Pecans, and Baby Greens. Turkey with Brie, Dried Cranberries, and Dijon Spread sounds pretty yum. Finally, channel your inner bagel lover with a combo of Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Capers, Onion, and “Everything Bagel” Topping. Drinks here are particularly interesting, as you can choose from Beer OR Wine on tap as well as Hard Sodas. Non alcoholic drinks are also available — and will include Joffrey’s Frappe Mocha and Hot Cocoa! Wow! So, so much to look forward to just around the corner, and we can’t wait! But now, I really want to hear from all of you! Which of the three new Disney Springs food kiosks are you looking forward to trying first?? Leave a comment and tell me what you think! Fantasyland has provided me with so many opportunities to photograph Disneyland park attractions after dark. Here is an example of an artistic way to capture the exterior of Peter Pan’s Flight during those magical hours. I used a Canon 5D Mark II with a 50mm f/1.2L lens with the shutter set at 1/160. I set the ISO to 1600 so I could easily hand hold the camera steady. View the full article

In 1966, Louise Stewart and Cindy Vallerga-Brown were just out of high school, and transplants to Southern California, when they decided to apply for jobs at Disneyland. The two 18-year-olds — who didn’t know each other at the time — were offered positions as ticket-takers at the Disneyland Resort Main Entrance and eagerly accepted, thinking it would be a good job to have while in college. A half-century later, these good friends are celebrating their 50-year service anniversaries together at the Disneyland Resort. “We’ve been through so much together,” says Louise, who on March 5 became the first female Disneyland Resort cast member to mark 50 years at the resort. The two women were honored at a celebration in the Main Street Opera House in March, days before Cindy marked the same service anniversary milestone earlier this month. Both women cite many of the same career highlights, chief among them meeting Walt Disney when he stopped by to personally thank them for working on a holiday. “I didn’t even realize it was him until he walked away and I saw a little boy ask for his autograph,” Cindy says. “I had only seen him on black-and-white TV!” Another memorable moment they share was being surprised with the Walt Disney Legacy Award in 2011, the program’s inaugural year. “It’s still an unbelievable honor to know that people see us in this light,” Cindy says. Both women worked at other jobs outside of Disney over the years, but they never left the jobs they loved and eventually went full time. Cindy became a vacation planner and moved to a ticket booth, while Louise continued as a greeter/ticket taker. Neither has any immediate plans for retirement. “I’ve always liked working for the Disneyland Resort. The difference is that now, I love it,” Cindy says. “This was my summer job. It’s just been a really long summer.” View the full article

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will host Party for the Planet presented by Disneynature on Friday, April 22. This day not only celebrates Earth Day but it also commemorates the official opening day of the theme park in 1998. Throughout the day, guests are encouraged to connect with nature by engaging in fun activities in every land of the park. I recently visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom to survey unique products to help celebrate the day. Recently, the merchandise team introduced several new items at Island Mercantile designed to support the Disney Conservation Fund (DCF). The DCF is supported by guests who make contributions at select Disney Parks and Resorts. A portion of the sale of select items in this assortment will benefit the DCF. Look for a specially designed hangtag or logo on select items to identify these products. Some items in the new assortment include nods to animals you might see at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, especially on Kilimanjaro Safaris (the crocodile hat made me laugh). There are two t-shirts for kids and look for adult t-shirts in the coming months. One of my favorite unique gifts from Disney’s Animal Kingdom is found at Zuri’s Sweets Shop located in the Harambe Market. These hand woven Blessing Baskets offer an opportunity to connect with the artists who created these beautiful items. Simply follow the instructions on the back of a card attached to a basket to start the conversation. If you are unable to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 22, you can commemorate Earth Day with a specially design t-shirt we are offering on our Disney Parks online store from April 18-24. This shirt will be offered in both adult and youth sizes. Please allow 3-5 weeks for delivery. Finally, don’t forget you can meet Walt Disney Imagineer and Portfolio Creative Executive Joe Rohde, who will be on hand to sign his artwork created for a new Disney Conservation Fund initiative, and a new coffee table book. The Disney Conservation Fund will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the book. Joe will appear 1-2 p.m. at Discovery Trading Company (previously Disney Outfitters) on April 22. Disney is expanding the elbow room for guests who are attending the Wishes Dessert Party in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The kicker? They’re using the area that, up to now, has been designated for viewing Wishes with a FastPass. Wishes Fireworks Spectacular Effective immediately, guests who take advantage of same-day booking for this premium event will move into the Main Street Plaza Gardens when the fireworks begin. Guests who booked their Wishes Dessert Party in advance can choose to remain in the Tomorrowland Terrace for fireworks viewing, or join the other guests in the Gardens. And speaking of Tomorrowland Terrace — it will continue to be the venue for the actual noshing part of the party. Desserts at Wishes Dessert Party The expansion will ensure that lots of people are able to enjoy this premium view of the fireworks while they snack on decadent Disney treats. The price for the experience — $59 for adults and $35 for children age 3-9 — remains the same. Wishes Dessert Party So, of course, our big question here is this: Are FastPasses no longer available for Wishes viewing? Does this mean that what has been free is now only available as a premium experience? (Well. There’s cake involved in the party. But still.) We checked MyDisneyExperience, and “Wishes nighttime spectacular” is no longer showing for us as a FastPass option. No More Wishes Nighttime Spectacular on Our FastPass Page? Hmmmm…. Curiouser and Curiouser. What do you think of the move to expand the Wishes Dessert Party viewing area into the Main Street Plaza Gardens? Leave a comment and share your thoughts!
