  13. I hope you’ve been enjoying the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival as much as we have! Weekly Button Delicious food as well as fun and informative events have made for an excellent re-introduction of the event, which had been on hiatus since 2010. We hope to see it continue on in years to come, and only grow bigger and better! The dishes featured at the 8 Marketplace Booths all shine a spotlight on the diverse cuisine that you can enjoy throughout California. And ¡Viva Fresca! offers one of my favorites — the Fried Shrimp Soft Taco with Pickled Red Onion-Jalapeño, Queso Fresco and Avocado-Lime Crème. But vegetarians — or folks who just might be looking for something to spice up their Meatless Monday routine — will love the Anaheim Chile and Roasted Cauliflower Burrito. 16. Disney’s blockbuster film “Frozen” includes the wonderful music and songs by Academy Award-winning composers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, and when the all-new theatrical production “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” debuts this summer at Disneyland Resort, those songs will be performed live on stage as never before. To adapt the songs for our new stage musical, Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment partnered with award-winning music supervisor and arranger Jason Michael Webb (“The Color Purple,” “Motown: The Musical”). “One of the first things that comes to mind when I think of Disney is the music. I’ve always loved how the songs and orchestral score to each Disney film is a character on its own,” said Webb. “Getting to know the music of the ‘Frozen’ film has been a joy, but taking it a step further to help create this world premiere stage version has been the most thrilling for me.” Many of the songs in the film are written as solos or duets, but the team has been able to open up pieces like “In Summer” and “Love Is an Open Door,” creating opportunities for larger production numbers featuring the entire ensemble cast. “New musical moments, exciting dance arrangements, and the people of Arendelle coming together to sing songs from the film will help take this new American classic to another level for millions of young people and families at the Hyperion,” Webb added. In this behind-the-scenes look at a recording session for “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion,” Music Director John Glaudini conducts the orchestra as they perform part of a waltz sequence being added to “Love Is an Open Door.” These musical production numbers expand on familiar “Frozen” tunes, bringing an element of scope and spectacle to our theatrical presentation. You’ll be able to see – and hear – all of it when “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” opens May 27 at Disney California Adventure park. View the full article

  18. Tangierine Cafe is one of Epcot’s World Showcase Counter Service classics thanks to delicious and authentic eats. Learn About: Tangierine Cafe Epcot Restaurants Disney World Restaurants However, this beautiful Pavilion can be overlooked in regards to dining, even while showcasing great food in beautiful surroundings with Restaurant Marrakesh, Spice Road Table, and again, the spot we’re visiting today — Tangierine Cafe. It’s understandable, though, that when groups (especially families with little ones) travel together, the Pavilion offering possibly the most different flavors from what the majority of the group may be used to might be the easiest to pass. Still, no matter what your or your traveling companions’ flavor preferences might be, I can think of few people who can argue against Baklava. Buttery and flaky puff pastry filled with honey and nuts (walnuts, cashews, or pistachios, while we’re at it), you’ll find a few varieties tucked into the pastry case located past the primary ordering counter at Tangierine Cafe. Tangierine Cafe Sign You’ll have to go on a hunt because the pastries are located in a small alcove of sorts beyond the main ordering area. They’ll be on your left when facing the entree ordering stations. Your search will be rewarded with the view of a case full of items like Chocolate or Tangerine Rolls (or Roulades), Semolina Cookies and Almond Pastries alongside more standard muffins and cookies. Tangierine Cafe Pastry Case But Baklava remains the star offering, presented in the varieties previously mentioned above: Walnut, Cashew, Pistachio, and… why, what’s this I spy with my little eye? A Chocolate Honey Baklava, right there on the top row! Tangierine Cafe Pastry Case The presentation differs from the more typically featured triangular Walnut Baklava (the variety usually served at the Morocco Booth during the Food and Wine Festival). The Chocolate Honey Baklava is rolled like the Cashew version, only it’s larger than the three “minis” you receive with the Cashew. Chocolate Honey Baklava Chocolate Honey Baklava In this instance, the crisp, flaky dough is topped off with milk chocolate and honey. Chocolate Honey Baklava The sweet layer inside is filled with chopped nuts tossed in the honey-syrup mix. Chocolate Honey Baklava Cross-Section The finishing touch is a few more sliced almonds that taste terrific with the honey. With this version, the chocolate lends an additional hint of sweetness to a dessert that doesn’t typically place emphasis on sweet. If Baklava is one of your staple Epcot snacks, the Chocolate Honey option gives you a chance to shake things up a little bit! Due in most part to the puff pastry, Baklava isn’t a fill-you-up kind of snack or dessert. For $3.25, what you’re getting is a chance to enjoy an authentic taste of unique flavors and fun textures that still allow you to save some room to keep snacking your way around the Showcase! 19. When it comes to celebrating Earth Day, one day just isn’t enough! Our Disney Cruise Line crew members have been celebrating in local port communities all month long! As part of the annual Keep Brevard Beautiful Trash Bash event in Brevard County, Disney Fantasy crew members partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida Cocoa Branch and worked together to refresh the area surrounding the club by picking up debris. Once the bags were stuffed and closed, participants tried out their gardening thumbs by weeding the Club’s flower beds in preparation for summer planting activities. Crew members on the Disney Wonder also found themselves digging up some dirt in Cozumel, Mexico while they cleared gardening space at the Cozumel Humane Society and then tended to their new furry friends. And later this month, Disney Magic crew members will join the fun at the Cayman Islands Humane Society to lend a hand weeding a puppy play area for the resident pups. Disney Dream crew members helped the Merritt Island community in Brevard County connect with the outdoors during a visit to the Pine Island Conservation Area where they spent time updating a walkway. This isn’t the first time Disney Cruise Line visited the conservation area. Last year, crew members from the Disney Fantasy lent a hand to construct an ADA accessible boardwalk leading to a newly constructed shaded pavilion. Crew members from the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream also read books with environmental themes to elementary children at local schools in St. Thomas and Nassau. Aboard the ships and on Castaway Cay, both crew members and guests laced up their walking shoes for the 9th annual Disney Cruise Line “Walk for Wildlife.” This fun and leisurely walk directly supported the Disney Conservation Fund. We’re thankful for our dedicated cast and crew members who’ve made celebrating Earth Month and protecting and conserving the environment a priority in their busy schedules. Now, it’s your turn! How do you plan to give back and celebrate Earth Day? View the full article

Earlier this week, we had the sincere pleasure of hosting the incomparable Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to help us celebrate the launch of the Disney Conservation Fund’s “Reverse the Decline, Increase the Time” initiative. We are working with the Jane Goodall Institute to help protect great apes in the wild and collaborating with her “Roots and Shoots” youth-led community program to help increase the time kids and families spend in nature. Jane took a moment to share her thoughts about Earth Day and how each and every person can make a difference to help protect the planet. To recognize Earth Day today, we want to share her remarks with you. View the full article
  21. I remember as a child my grandma taking me to play at Boysen Park in Anaheim, so it was great being back there earlier this week to begin planting the 60 trees that the Disneyland Resort is donating to Anaheim parks in honor of Earth Month and the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. Disneyland Resort Arborist Rhonda Wood, who helps keep more than 18,000 trees healthy at the Disneyland Resort, was on hand to show Anaheim students from Roosevelt Elementary how to properly plant the trees. Six of the trees were Pink Trumpet trees, which are special to the Disneyland Resort as they surround the “Partners” statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse at Disneyland park. We hope the trees will bring a splash of color to Boysen Park and symbolize our partnership with the community! View the full article
