But believe me when I tell you that this is just about the best version of this dish that we have ever tasted. The egg is surrounded by some seriously savory sausage — so yummy. The Irish Egg And what’s a Rack of Heaven, you ask? It’s a slow-roasted full rack of baby back ribs coated in that amazing Guinness Glaze that we all know and love. (Seriously. You’ve probably heard by now that tomorrow night, August 28, we’ll host a live stream of the Main Street Electrical Parade from Magic Kingdom Park right here on the Disney Parks Blog. (Full details here.) So, some of the best images we’ve shared this week are from the parade, which has enjoyed several runs at Magic Kingdom Park over the years. This nighttime procession is led by Tinker Bell and is filled with glowing floats and favorite Disney characters, including those from “Alice In Wonderland,” “Cinderella” and more. During the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend at the Disneyland Resort, you’ll join beloved Disney duos like Mickey Mouse and Pluto, Aladdin and the Genie, and Country Bears Liver Lips and Big Al as they cheer you on during the event! This event is also featuring another duo: runDisney and Disney PhotoPass Service! During each race, Disney PhotoPass Photographers will capture your memories along our magical courses. Here are a few tips Disney PhotoPass Service would like to share on how to get your best race photos during the Happiest Race on Earth: Before the race: Download the Disneyland mobile app. You’ll be able to link, preview and purchase your Disney PhotoPass photos from the app. You’ll also have access to park hours, attraction wait times, Disney FASTPASS distribution times and much more! If you have or plan to purchase Disney PhotoPass+ One Day or Disney PhotoPass+ One Week, your runDisney race photos will be included in either active entitlement. You can purchase these products before, during or after your Disneyland visit. During the race: Make sure your bib number is visible at all times. PhotoPass Photographers on the course will not be passing out Disney PhotoPass cards, so your bib number is essential to ensuring that your race photos can be linked to your account. Look for PhotoPass Photographers stationed around the course with some of your favorite Disney Characters, by some of the most famous Disneyland Resort icons, and at the finish line. After the race: Link your photos to your account by entering the 11-digit Race ID followed by your bib number in the “Link Photos” section of the Disneyland app or at Disneyland.com/PhotoPass. Race IDs are printed on your bib and can also be found in the event guide. Each race of the event will have a different 11-digit Race ID, so be sure to enter the Race ID that corresponds with your race. Boy, oh boy… do we ever have a treat for you today! Learn About: Vivoli il Gelato Downtown Disney Disney World Restaurants Actually, make that TWO treats. Because when we saw a sign at Vivoli il Gelato for the new Creamsicle Float and Nutella Brownie Sundae, it was a no-brainer to to get them both. Vivoli il Gelato celebrated its one year anniversary in The Landing of Disney Springs in June. Since its arrival last summer, we’ve gained so many new eateries all over Disney Springs that it’s been difficult to have a chance to revisit some of the additions that joined the scene waaaaay back in the day — as in, 2015 . But there is still so much to discover about these relatively new spots that we’re excited to step back into Vivoli il Gelato — the second storefront for the family-run gelato shop based in Florence, Italy. Here’s the shop (it can be hard to spot, so just head towards the higher profile landmark of The Boathouse, look across the street, and Voila!)… Vivoli il Gelato And here’s that sign we mentioned for the two new creations: The Nutella Brownie Sundae and the Creamsicle Float! Sign for New Items The Creamsicle Float is two scoops of vanilla gelato and two scoops of orange sorbet poured over with San Pellegrino Orange. I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Creamsicle Float It’s topped with whipped cream and cherries (sorry, mine never made it out of the shop to be part of the pics ). A bit of extra cherry juice gives it those hints of red on top and throughout. Cherry juice topping the Whipped Cream My friends, the Creamsicle Float tastes every bit as heavenly as it looks. The gelato is, of course, as rich as you’d expect. But the sorbet along with the Pellegrino really give the Float a lightness and drinkability to balance everything out. Layers in the Creamsicle Float Fans of the Citrus Swirl might want to consider splurging the $9.75 on this for a nice vacation indulgence. Aaaand speaking of splurges, the Nutella Brownie Sundae is another. Nutella Brownie Sundae and Creamsicle Float Coming in at $10.75, it’s another epic treat-upon-treat in its own right. Here’s the drill: you can order it as-is, with two scoops of vanilla gelato scooped on top of half of a deconstructed Nutella brownie. The other half of the brownie is cut in two, then placed on the sides of the scoops and topped off with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and two white-and-dark chocolate straws. …OR…you can customize with your choice of gelato for the base! I went with the Cast Member’s suggestion of one scoop of Bacio (chocolate with hazelnuts) gelato to go with the other scoop of vanilla. Nutella Brownie Sundae All of this, of course, is served in a paper bowl — which, fortunately, was placed on top of a plate as well. The Nutella brownie is served warm, so the melting process begins pretty much immediately with this one. Also, now is a good time to remind you that there are no seats inside the small shop, and all treats must be taken outside. So, depending on the time of year of your visit, you may very well be contending with some serious Florida heat along with that warm Nutella brownie. Close-up on Nutella Brownie By the way, if my repetition of “Nutella brownie” makes you crave exactly that, know that these can be purchased on their own from the Vivoli bakery case! Nutella Brownies Back to the Sundae… it is seriously yummy, but SO SUPER RICH. I’m glad I kept one scoop of gelato as the vanilla because as tasty as the Bacio is, two scoops of it would have put the whole thing WAY over the top. I’m not typically huge into sharing my gelato , but this Sundae is an exception to my rule. If you have two fans of Nutella in your traveling group, then both can chip in and go nuts — pardon the pun — over this thing together. And remember, though we’ve taken a look at some unique creations today, simple-but-tasty cones, cups, and pastries remain available as well. New flatbreads are now available at Pizzafari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We love the Mediterranean with red pepper, olives, and a pesto drizzle, topped with a fresh salad of arugula, red onion and tomatoes—or try something new, like the Cheeseburger Flatbread topped with ground beef, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and a drizzle of ketchup and mustard. Did you know guests who dine at Tiffins in Disney’s Animal Kingdom receive prints of Joe Rhode sketches at the end of their meal? Take a peek at the first sketches in the series of 12 below! It’s time to kick off the runDisney season with one of my favorite events – Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna. We’re really excited about the theming of the overall weekend – Disney duos! The Disneyland Half Marathon celebrates one of our favorite classic duos – Mickey Mouse and Pluto! In addition to Mickey Mouse’s traditional color palette of black, white, red and yellow, these athletic red shorts from Champion are a must to complete his style! We’ve added a special touch to bring Mickey to life with his signature white buttons. I love the yellow accents in the New Balance shoes, which bring Pluto’s playful personality to life. After the races are completed, I’ll definitely be visiting the theme parks and checking out everything the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration has to offer. It’s the last weekend of the celebration, and “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” is on the top of my “to do” list. When Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returns to Magic Kingdom Park next Friday, September 2, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom fans can pick up a special treat – this year’s event-exclusive game card which will feature Clawhauser from “Zootopia.” Why Clawhauser? Because he loves sweets, particularly donuts! On Halloween he enjoys sharing the delicious, ring-shaped delights with the trick-or-treaters who come to his door. Merlin the Magician was so impressed with the cheetah’s generosity, that he created a spell in his honor, “Clawhauser’s Tricky Treat.” When a sorcerer casts this spell, dozens of magical donuts appear! But spell-casters must be wary: careless use might result in an explosion of rainbow sprinkles! New to the game? Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is an in-park interactive experience that allows guests join Merlin’s quest to defeat Disney Villains who are scheming to take over Magic Kingdom Park. Guests use maps to search for villain hideouts throughout the park, and visit magic portals where they use spell cards to fight back against a villain’s plan. The journey begins at the Firehouse on Main Street, U.S.A., where you can pick up everything you need to play. This special event card will be distributed separately (and in addition to) the regular Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card packs you’re given at this location. Have you ever noticed this lovely dancing fountain at Epcot located just behind Spaceship Earth? It’s the Fountain of Nations and in addition to being a lovely point of interest for guests, it has been an important part of park history since Epcot opened in 1982. A special “International Ceremony of the Waters” took place right here on the park’s opening day, in which cultural representatives traveled to Epcot from around the world. Each one brought with them a container of water from their nation and poured it into the fountain. Contributions from a total of 29 nations were featured in the ceremony. Today, the fountain’s 200 pneumatic shooters create dancing water shows that delight guests both day and night. View the full article

If you’re planning to be in the Orlando area for the month of September, get ready for some terrific dining savings that include hot new Disney Springs Restaurants like Morimoto Asia and STK! For the eleventh straight year, Visit Orlando is sponsoring Orlando Magical Dining Month. The event kicks off with a preview week on Monday, August 29, and runs through Sunday, October 2, offering guests and residents of the Orlando area five full weeks to enjoy special savings, all while doing good. Halloween time is coming, and with it Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World Resort! My tween daughter loves the holiday to dress up, but not in one of those scary costumes. This not-so-little girl prefers her princesses, fairies and superheroes! And that’s why Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a perfect fit for her! There’s just the right amount of spooky sights, sounds and Disney Villains for big kids, with the familiar fun of seeing Mickey, Minnie and friends dressed in their own fabulous and not-so-scary costumes! This separate ticketed event is offered from 7 p.m. to midnight, after regular park hours, on select nights in September and October. In fact, this year‘s celebration lasts 29 nights! After dark, the park is transformed with music, lighting effects and unique entertainment experiences that only happen during this special event. My tween has two favorite activities at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party that guarantee a ghoulishly good time! She loves to visit the multitude of treat stations set up throughout the park to collect yummy goodies for her Mickey Mouse pumpkin Trick or Treat bucket. We’re traveling to Animal Kingdom’s Asia to show off a couple new items on the Yak & Yeti (Anandapur) Local Food Cafes menu! Learn About: Yak and Yeti Counter Service Animal Kingdom Disney World Restaurants Not to be confused with the Yak & Yeti Table Service restaurant next door, Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes is a Quick Service option for adventurers on the go! Some items — though not the ones we’re checking out today — are even served in the most adorable Chinese food carry-out boxes. As expected with Animal Kingdom, the restaurant is beautifully themed. This Indian market blends in perfectly next to the Maharajah Jungle Trek with advertisements for “local” companies, fruit stands, and a cool assortment of seating options. The first thing you’ll likely see are the long lines, but as the arrow on the sign suggests, there’s plenty of room around the corner! Local Food Cafes sign So don’t let this deter you… Lines at Local Food Cafes Atmosphere After receiving your food, just follow that arrow and you’ll find A LOT of different seating options, from tables under cover (roof or umbrella) to those out in the open — for days when you want to take in plenty of sunshine. Pretty, detailed covered seating This little guy found a seat at my favorite spot near the water fountain! Please do not feed the birds With the restaurant being a few steps from away from the Kali River Rapids attraction, the uncovered seating could be a great place to have a snack and dry off after getting completely soaked. Uncovered patio seating Now that you’ve found your seat, let’s talk about what’s new to EAT! Eats Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafes is known for having unique food in a great location. The Honey Chicken remains a fan favorite and the Roasted Vegetable Couscous Wrap was a rather nice surprise when it showed up on the menu. I also love that you can get Egg Rolls and Chicken Fried Rice as DDP snack credits here. Menu (click to enlarge) So here’s what’s weird: Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes has always been a spot to visit if you’re craving something outside of your typical burgers and fries. And…alas…the two new entree additions to the menu on my last visit were a Cheeseburger and Hot Dog — both served with fries! Hmmmm. There is, however, a bit of a twist with the focus on Kobe beef for the new American Kobe Beef Cheeseburger and American Kobe Beef Hot Dog. Let’s start with the Cheeseburger. American Kobe Beef Cheeseburger Served with thick-cut, well-seasoned fries (that I loved!), the burger is topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and Asian pickles. The pickles were VERY thinly sliced – so thin that they don’t really add much flavor, but they do add a nice crunch and slight vinegary taste. The dipping sauce on the side is a sesame soy mayo, which I thought was great! It was more salty than sweet, but still had a mayo-like consistency. I thought the mayo and Asian pickles lent a unique flavor to the burger, so it still falls a leeeeeetle bit outside the norm…I guess. Of course I was most curious about the Kobe beef patty, which I found to be thicker than the typical Counter Service park burgers, and of better quality. Plus, it was very juicy and flavorful! American Kobe Beef Cheeseburger cross-section This particular burger is pricey at $14.99, but fortunately the meat is noticeably bigger and definitely better. I just wish they wouldn’t cook it to medium-well. Next up is the American Kobe Beef Hot Dog. It’s served on a fluffy brioche bun and has some customizable options beyond the normal condiment bar. American Kobe Beef Hot Dog Banh Mi style It’s a bit difficult to read on the menu (even in person), but you have three options for toppings: plain, Banh Mi, or Kimchi. I opted for the Banh Mi! The Kimchi dog is served with Asian Slaw and Korean barbecue sauce. The Banh Mi dog has the same Asian slaw, but also features the Asian pickles that are found on the burger and a chipotle mayo. American Kobe Beef Hot Dog Banh Mi style cross-section Like the burger, I thought the quality of the Kobe hot dog was noticeably better than your run-of-the-mill hot dog – it had a very natural taste and it was less salty than a regular hot dog, too. They didn’t go overboard with the chipotle mayo, so it added just enough spice, flavor, and creamy texture to the meal. This one is also pretty pricey at $13.99, but you do get a bit of extra quality. The price seems more justified when I think about those delicious fries that come with it. Closeup of delicious fries! Buuuuuut….it’s still a pretty freaking expensive hot dog. So expensive that you could actually get a few table service entrees for less. So think hard before you indulge. Overall Even though these new options aren’t super exciting, it was fun to have a few different ways to customize two American staples. If you’ve spent years shying away from this beautiful spot if you’re not particularly into the Asian fare it typically serves, now might be your chance to stop by Local Food Cafes and experience it for yourself.
