If you ask my mother what I do for a living, she would say, “You make television.” And when you boil it down, she’s right! I’m lucky enough to work with some incredible partners at ESPN, Disney Channel, Freeform and ABC to bring their programming to Disney Parks. One of the highlights of my 2016 was working with the team at ABC on their hit show, “black-ish.” And what does “black-ish” do after they’ve been nominated for three Emmys? Go to Disney World of course! If you were visiting Walt Disney World Resort during the week of Aug. 22 you may have caught a glimpse of the cast around the parks taping their season premiere. They taped at Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park over four days. In between takes, managing the heat and drinking lots of water, the cast posed for photos with guests, met some of their favorite Disney and Pixar pals, and even got to check out a few things. If you follow the cast on social media, you saw that Marsai Martin (Diane) live-streamed the Festival of the Lion King show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom; Miles Brown (Jack) visited Cirque du Soleil’s “La Nouba” at Disney Springs and Marcus Scribner (Andre Jr.) had an out of this world dinner at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Creating a half hour show is hard work and takes a village and it is a great feeling to be a part it. Check out the behind scenes video below to see a sneak peek of the taping. Don’t forget to watch the “black-ish” season premiere Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Tune in and follow along with the social conversation using the hashtag: #blackish. Have you chosen your Special Events for the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival? Maybe you’ve had some interest in attending one of this year’s Rockin’ Burger Block Parties, but you’re not quite sure what the menu entails. Or perhaps you’ve already booked the first Block Party on September 30th, and are already excited to find out what kind of burgers you’ll be diving into! Burger Victory at the Rockin’ Burger Block Party Either way, we’ve got some info that may help (and if you need anything further, be sure to check out our review from the Rockin’ Burger Block Party we attended last year). We’ve got the scoop on six of the seven Burgers that guests will be chomping into at the very first Rockin’ Burger Block Party on September 30th featuring Celebrity Chef Maneet Chuahan, who will be joined by Chefs from various Disney restaurants. (Remember, each of the three parties features a different Chef… AND different burgers!) Seating at the Rockin’ Burger Block Party Maneet Chuahan will showcase her Indian-inspired Malai Chicken Mushroom Burger, while Chefs from STK Orlando will be serving up some of their lil’ BRGs made with Wagyu beef. Lil’ BRGs Raglan Road will offer a beer-battered burger! This one will be topped with garlic aioli, tomato chutney, and greens. Here’s a beer battered burger we had at Raglan’s counter service spot — Cookes of Dublin — that we think is the inspiration for the Bash choice. Battered Burger and Chips from Cookes of Dublin One of our favorite Disney spots to grab a burger – Beaches and Cream – will serve a Sunrise Burger: chorizo and candied Canadian bacon will be topped with an avocado spread, and then topped even further with a quail egg and sriracha mayo… all on an English Muffin. And the newest burger joint on the Disney dining scene, D-Luxe Burger, will share classic Southern style with their beef burger topped with fried green tomato, pimento cheese, and Applewood-smoked bacon on a Parkerhouse roll. Here’s the “full-sized version” from D-Luxe Burger. Southern Classic Burger at D-Luxe Burger And though we don’t know the chef or restaurant behind the burger yet, we do know that a Pork Slider with aji amarillo chile slaw and avocado on brioche will be up for grabs, too. Interested guests may book the Rockin’ Burger Block Party for $99, Reserved Seating for $119, and Nosh Pit Seating for $199. Learn more about the inclusions for each level and the Block Parties taking place on October 14th and November 11th by visiting our Food and Wine Festival Special Events page. Part of the fun of the Rockin’ Burger Block Party is that guests get to vote for their favorite burger. Based solely on the descriptions so far, which one might get YOUR vote? Guests aboard the Disney Wonder were treated to live performances by Michelle Mallardi, known for her Broadway role as Belle in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” as part of our Stars Set Sail live concert series presented by Disney Theatrical Productions. Michelle kicked off her show by singing “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” and telling guests about her childhood dream to sing and dance on Broadway. After performing a variety of beloved songs, including “Beauty and the Beast,” Michelle encouraged the audience to join her in singing “Anything Can Happen” from Mary Poppins. Then she even brought a few guests on stage to learn the dance as the audience continued belting out the lyrics to this fun song. It’s been a full summer of Broadway stars sailing the seas with us! Guests at Hong Kong Disneyland recently experienced the magic of Disney in an entirely new way. The resort hosted its first-ever running event this past weekend, the Hong Kong 10K Weekend presented by AIA Vitality. Nearly 9,000 runners participated in the two-day event, which included a Duffy 5K Fun Run, a Mickey & Minnie 3K Family Run and Kids Races in addition to the Mickey 10K Run. The success of the event builds on the popularity of these types of endurance races at Disney theme parks at Disneyland Paris, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, which each hosts similar race weekends. The inaugural Hong Kong event was officiated by secretary for Food and Health of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Dr. Ko Wing-man, who kicked off the 3K race and presented awards to the 10K winners. The races took runners through various lands throughout the park as popular Disney characters, performers, musicians and the Hong Kong Disneyland band entertained them along the way. And it was all for a good cause as a portion of the proceeds from the race will go to the Children’s Cancer Foundation. The run was also eco-friendly! Local environmental groups helped recycle waste, such as banana peels and water bottles, and worked to make it an entirely carbon-neutral event. View the full article

Who says that a Disney vacation is just for the kiddos? There are seemingly endless ways to have grown-up fun on a Disney vacation, and Adventures by Disney offers lots of opportunities to travel the world either with or without children. Here are just a few of my favorite ways to have grown-up fun on an Adventures by Disney vacation. Travel With Other Adults When the school year begins, so do the Adventures by Disney Adult Exclusive departures. Reserved for guests ages 18+, these adult-only vacation options offer a chance to travel to almost every destination that Adventures by Disney visits. Want to visit Germany during Oktoberfest? Get a sneak peek behind the scenes at Walt Disney Imagineering and Disneyland Resort? Take in a Broadway musical? You can do all this (and more) on these ultimate grown-up vacations. Enjoy Grown-Up Activities Want to bring your kids along? On an Adventures by Disney vacation, you’ll enjoy family time together, but each itinerary also includes experiences for adults while kids participate in Junior Adventurer activities. While you visit the Mona Lisa at the Louvre with a local expert, your kids can participate in an interactive scavenger hunt around the museum. While the grown-ups sip wine in Tuscany, the kids are invited to design their own flavors of Italy’s finest olive oils. Fun for Foodies If you’re like me, there’s nothing you love more than sampling exquisite regional cuisine. On an Adventures by Disney vacation you can enjoy a private cooking class in Vietnam, sample paella in Spain, dine like royalty during a private reception and dinner at Edinburgh Castle in Scotland, or learn the history of the Andean Pachamanca feast in Peru. Feel Like a VIP Wake up with a view of the fjords in Norway, stay in an Irish castle, or throw open the curtains in your beachfront resort in Greece. With Adventures by Disney you can sleep in style in a variety of breathtaking resort accommodations. And to up the “posh” quotient even further, Adventures by Disney offers an array of private experiences in some of the world’s most recognizable destinations. From a private after-hours tour of the Vatican Museum or a behind-the-scenes tour of the Eiffel Tower, you can enjoy a host of VIP opportunities that are totally brag worthy. Let Someone Else Do the Planning Being a grown up means you’re constantly planning. What’s for dinner? Who’s picking up the kids? When can I schedule that appointment/meeting/confab? With Adventures by Disney the stress is taken out of planning your vacation, allowing you to simply focus on yourself for a change. From Long Weekends to extended trips, it’s as easy as choosing your next destination and leaving the planning to Disney. What are you waiting for? Book an Adventures by Disney vacation. You deserve it! View the full article

If you stop by the Main Street Confectionery over the coming weeks, you’ll find that things look quite different. Learn About: Main Street Confectionery Magic Kingdom Disney World Restaurants That’s because the Confection Case is undergoing a 6 week refurbishment, and is therefore closed. But don’t fret! Not only is the rest of The Confectionery open (so you can still buy all sorts of in-house and prepackaged goodies), you can also still easily find your favorite house-made Disney confections —items like Mickey Krispy Treats, Cake Pops, Caramel Apples, and English Toffee — at Big Top Treats in New Fantasyland and Prairie Outpost & Supply in Frontierland! And the candy kitchen is still functioning at the Confectionery, so you can even get some house-made treats right here! Just not sold out of the case. The six-week timeframe should position the reopening to occur around the beginning of November — right when the treats in the case will likely receive their annual holiday makeover into hues of red, green, and frosty winter blue. In the meantime, let’s take a little tour to see what The Confectionery looks like at the moment. The Current Confectionery It’s a bit disorienting to see such a hallmark of the shop behind refurb walls, so just as a reminder, the Case is to the left of the open kitchen where you can watch Cast Members create the treats. Confectionery Case Refurbishment Walls And, as we mentioned, there are indeed still plenty of goodies to be had inside! You’ll just need to look in all the displays throughout the store.
