  2. Tonight’s “After Dark” image was snapped at Epcot of the guest-favorite “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth” show. This show, which debuted at the park in 1999, tells the history of our planet using pyrotechnics, water elements, projections, lighting and more. In case you haven’t experienced “Illuminations,” the story of the show is told in three parts: the Earth’s fiery birth, which includes flames and fireworks. Second is the “Triumph of Life” scene, in which a globe reveals the history of human achievements over time. Lastly, the “Hope for the Future” scene sends light into the sky as the globe blossoms like a lotus flower. Learn more about “Illuminations” here. View the full article

  8. The arrival of Pandora – The World of AVATAR to Disney’s Animal Kingdom gets closer every day! And more and more details are starting to emerge about this new land opening on May 27th. Pandora Concept Art ©Disney Just a few days ago, in fact, we learned more about Pandora’s dining options, which include Satu’li Canteen, the restaurant’s main dining establishment, and Pongu Pongu, a drink station run by an expat who visited Pandora and decided to stay and set up shop for the long-term. Pongu Pongu Concept Art ©Disney Pongu Pongu will be home to an exclusive Pandora snack — Lumpia! The cast of the ABC daytime cooking show, The Chew, offered a sneak preview on today’s episode! The Cast of The Chew at the 2015 Rockin’ Burger Block Party Lumpia is a popular street food in the Philippines and Indonesia. It’s of Chinese origin and can be compared to egg rolls. Though typically filled with savory veggies and meat filling, Disney has created a sweet take on the snack. At Pongu Pongu, the rolls will be filled with pineapple cream cheese. Television Shot of Lumpia on ABC’s The Chew And the lucky ducks who host The Chew got to try them… Television Shot of ABC’s The Chew Among the reactions? “Wow!” (Note the thumbs up from Michael Symon). (Not that they’d be allowed to say anything else, but…whatever.) Television Shot of ABC’s The Chew To summarize the tasting, Clinton Kelly said they taste exactly like “pineapple cream pie in an egg roll.” Television Shot of Lumpia on ABC’s The Chew So, there it is… the very first taste of Pandora! Oh, and if you’re reading this on March 9th, there is still time to set your DVR or carve out time to catch Nightline on ABC for an in-depth look at the new land TONIGHT!! This week, artist Ashley Taylor imagined what Flash from “Zootopia” would do if he visited Magic Kingdom Park. 18. Since its grand opening last summer, the response from our guests to the attractions and entertainment at Shanghai Disney Resort has been nothing short of overwhelming. Our newest Disney destination — authentically Disney, distinctly Chinese — is unlike anything we’ve ever done before and the people of China absolutely love it. Today we have some exciting news out of The Walt Disney Company’s Meeting of Shareholders in Denver, Colorado, where our chairman and CEO, Bob Iger, just shared that Shanghai Disneyland is approaching a big attendance milestone. “Almost 8 million people have already visited Shanghai Disneyland,” Iger told shareholders. “They’re telling their friends and families all about it and their rave reviews are driving excitement for that park across all of China. We’re absolutely thrilled with the response and we expect more than 10 million people to visit this park by its first anniversary this June.” As we told you late last year, Shanghai Disneyland is so popular and so successful that we’re already adding to it with a new Toy Story Land, which will open in 2018. And as our chairman and CEO told shareholders, we’re just getting started. “Bringing Shanghai Disneyland from dream to reality was a 17-year journey and it’s been a thrill to see the park come alive with people of all ages, many of them experiencing a Disney theme park for the first time in their lives,” Iger continued. “There’s this wonderful sense of joy and excitement when the park is full. We’re incredibly proud of the fact that only Disney could create such an extraordinary experience for the people of China.” When are you planning on visiting Shanghai Disneyland and what would you like to see there? 23. You’re gonna hear us saying this a lot over the next several months: there’s a TON of stuff going on in the Disney food world at Animal Kingdom. Learn About: Restaurantosaurus Animal Kingdom Disney World Restaurants First we’ve got quality bites at Tiffins and Nomad Lounge. Second we will soon have two brand new dining options in Pandora — The World of AVATAR: Pongu Pongu and Satu’li Canteen. And third, old standbys like Yak and Yeti and Flame Tree Barbecue are still killin’ the food game. Animal Kingdom has stepped up the food game yet again. But should you find yourself way over in Dinoland digging on something sweet and indulgent, adventure your way right over to Restaurantosaurus. It’s just past the spinning triceratops and across the way from the dig site. You can’t miss it. While I LOVE Restaurantosaurus, we have had a bit of a hit or miss relationship with Animal Kingdom’s desserts-in-a-glass, and we’re happy to see them being replaced by better options. The Warm Turtle Brownie we tried recently was a big hit! And since we’re always open to try new things, on this visit we ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake. Restaurantosaurus Strawberry Cheesecake Let’s just start by saying this ain’t a dessert in a glass. Look at that crust! It’s all graham crackers and buttery-ness! It’s just the right thickness to add texture without overwhelming the contents of its shell. Restaurantosaurus Strawberry Cheesecake It’s topped with a massive half piece of strawberry and some slightly thick strawberry sauce. Inside we found delightfully creamy, soft, and full-bodied cheesecake filling. It was served cold (which we think heightens the richness of the dessert). Restaurantosaurus Strawberry Cheesecake Interior Now, we have to admit: this was a little on the small side. And that’s not just because it was so tasty that we wanted MORE. It’s actually a little small. But it’s really, really good. It costs $4.59 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. It’s probably a little too expensive to pay for out of pocket in our opinion, but it’s a great use of a DDP credit! Are you on the lookout for new desserts to try in the Parks? Let us know what you’re craving! Disney Food Blog Fans, be sure to check out our DFB Disney World Dining Guide e-Books! Find great deals at DFBStore.com!
