She’s taken simple garden rocks and made them into magical treasures. Here’s an idea – become an honorary leprechaun by painting some of your very own special rocks and leaving them around your local area for others to find. You’ll make their day! This past weekend, Tahj Mowry from Freeform’s “Baby Daddy” visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom and he was kind enough to share some of his pics with the Disney Parks Blog. Tahj’s showed us how strong his selfie game was in front of the majestic Tree of Life. And he knew no visit is complete without concurring Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain. We’ve made our first visit to the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, with plans for many more over the coming weeks to taste all the new dishes that the Epcot culinary team created for this year. With 15 Outdoor Kitchens around World Showcase Promenade, we’ll enjoy plenty of trips between now and closing day on May 29. And while there are plenty of returning favorites, this new dish featured at the Florida Fresh Outdoor Kitchen is layered with flavors – black bean cakes topped with Carne Asada – a seasoned brisket with tomato relish and a drizzle of cilantro-lime sour cream. At the festival, pair it with a Florida beer or wine, or sip fresh-squeezed watermelon juice. Access to the festival, including all gardening programs, exhibits, concerts, and special appearances, is included in regular Epcot admission. Carne Asada with Spicy Black Bean Cakes and Cilantro-Lime Sour Cream Serves 4 BLACK BEAN CAKES 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided 1/2 small white onion, diced 1/2 medium red bell pepper, diced 1/2 medium green pepper, diced 1 garlic cloves, minced 1/2 tablespoon ground cumin 14.5-ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained 1 chipotle pepper, chopped Salt, to taste Pepper, to taste 1/2 cup cooked quinoa 3/4 cup corn flour FOR CARNE ASADA 1 teaspoon olive oil 1 small white onion, diced 1 medium red bell pepper, diced 1 clove garlic, minced 2 tablespoons tomato paste 14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes 1 pound cooked beef brisket, shredded 1 bay leaf 1/2 cup green olives, sliced 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro TOMATO RELISH 2 medium red tomatoes, diced 1/4 small red onion, diced 1 tablespoon chopped parsley 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 tablespoons white balsamic vinegar Salt, to taste Black pepper, to taste CILANTRO-LIME SOUR CREAM 1/2 cup sour cream 2 teaspoons lime juice 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro Salt, to taste GARNISH 1/4 cup chopped cilantro FOR BLACK BEAN CAKE: 1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in small sauté pan over medium heat until hot. Add onion, red bell pepper and green bell pepper; sauté for 5 minutes or until tender. 2. Stir in garlic and cumin, cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and place in large mixing bowl. 3. Stir in black beans and chipotle peppers, mashing with a fork. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. 4. Mix in quinoa and corn flour. Divide into 4 balls and flatten to make patties. 5. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large sauté pan until hot. 6. Cook black bean patties for 3 minutes on each side, until crispy. Keep warm until ready to serve. FOR CARNE ASADA: 1. Heat oil in large pot over medium heat. Add onion, red bell pepper and green bell pepper; sauté until tender. 2. Stir in garlic, tomato paste and diced tomatoes. 3. Add the cooked brisket, bay leaf, green onions and chopped cilantro. Keep warm until ready to serve. FOR TOMATO RELISH: 1. Combine tomato, red onion, parsley, olive oil and white balsamic vinegar in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 2. Refrigerate until ready to serve. FOR CILANTRO-LIME SOUR CREAM: 1. Mix sour cream, lime juice, cilantro and salt in a small mixing bowl. 2. Refrigerate until ready to serve. TO SERVE: 1. Place 1 seared black bean cake on each plate. Top with 1/2 cup of the carne asada. 2. Top with tomato relish and cilantro-lime sour cream. 3. Garnish with additional cilantro. View the full article

The Mickey and Minnie Easter Basket Gourmet Apples are as delicious as they are beautiful – perfect to include in an Easter basket or as an egg hunt reward. At Candy Palace, you’ll also find the famous handmade Disneyland Easter Eggs—while supplies last. Disneyland Candy Makers hand-shape each delicious egg, which is filled with house-made fudge then enrobed in milk chocolate. The eggs are offered in five flavors—Chocolate Cream, Chocolate-Nut, Vanilla-Nut, Black Walnut and my personal favorite, Peanut Butter. ARRRRR ye lookin’ for some treasure, matey? Because if ye be, there’s plenty to be plundered (or, you know, politely purchased by the usual means ;-D ) at the Pirates of the Caribbean 50th Anniversary Celebration in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square! Golden Churros This Saturday, March 18th, marks the official anniversary, so these special treats are only available for a VERY limited time! Let’s start – with the help of our favorite west coast Pirate, Heather Sievers — with the most glittering jewel of the bunch… the Golden Churro! Golden Churro sign Set sail — ahoy! — for the nearest Churro Cart to get one of these beauties. Golden Churros Because the Golden Churros are not only completely Instagram-ready… Golden Churros … they also taste as good as they look, thanks to the hearty dusting of GOLD! Gold Dust The Gold Dust is actually a lemon sugar that works really well with the always crispy-on-the-outside and soft-on-the-inside classic Churro. I wish we could say the same for the Lost Treasure Beignets. Lost Treasure Beignets Found at the Mint Julep Bar and Café Orleans, the same lemon-sugar that glitters the Churros is dusted onto the Beignets, but it just doesn’t translate as well. Lost Treasure Beignets Heather thinks a dipping sauce — like raspberry preserves — could’ve spruced these up, but, alas, there is none. Lost Treasure Beignets Oh, and with those Biegnets, you’re also looking at a picture of the Jolly Roger Punch, located at Counter Service locations in New Orleans Square. Heather likened this spiced tropical fruit blend (with pineapple, orange, and mango) to P.O.G. Juice, which is found in several Table Service Restaurants (albeit under various names) in Disney World. Jolly Roger Punch So, yes, with fruit flavors that override the spice, the Jolly Roger Punch is very POG-ish. Ergo… YUMMY! So, “Drink Up, Me Hearties, Yo Ho!!” Don’t forget that you can start your morning throughout the celebration with a delicious Caribbean Breakfast Burrito. Caribbean Breakfast Burrito sign It’s packed with Andouille sausage, rice, black beans, cheddar cheese and sweet potatoes, giving it a New-Orleans-meets-the-Southwest vibe. Oh, there are some NOT “really bad eggs” in there, too. (A little Yo-Ho-Humor for all of you singing the attraction’s theme song in your head while reading this post!) Caribbean Breakfast Burrito You’ll find it at Royal Street Veranda and the Mint Julep Bar, IF you’re one of the early Pirates that catches the worm… or something like that . It is a BLAST to celebrate FIFTY YEARS of pillaging, plundering, and not giving a hoot with these specialty snacks (along with a few others… read all about them here) in Disneyland! Today, we’re celebrating National Panda Day to help bring awareness to these conservation icons! Giant pandas are unique animals with many distinctive features, like an extra “pseudo” thumb to help them grip bamboo and a thick white coat with special black markings to help keep them warm in China’s snow-covered mountains. Beginning April 21, you can learn more about giant pandas and some of their animal friends in “Born in China,” the newest Disneynature film. Before the adventure hits theaters, we invite you to watch this sneak peek! While pandas are classified as a vulnerable species, China is fighting to preserve these animals by providing them with a safe place to live and grow – and you can help too! See the film during opening week in the United States, and Disneynature will make a donation in your honor to the World Wildlife Fund benefiting wild pandas. We’re excited to share an update today on the progress of the Star Wars-themed lands being created at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts! As you may know, these two new immersive lands will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life and where guests will find themselves in the middle of the action. We’re also creating two incredible new signature attractions: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. With so much activity across our 14-acre construction sites as this new world is created, we wanted to show you how things are shaping up in this exclusive video – and you may not believe what you’re looking AT-AT. As Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced last month, our Star Wars-themed lands are scheduled to open in 2019. This week, we are celebrating a love story that is truly a tale as old as time. This Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding couple chose an elegant, “Beauty and the Beast”-inspired event for their big day. Heather and Josh first met in college and instantly connected. There was something different this time, and they both knew it right away. Heather is a huge Disney fan and has timeless memories from her vacations to the parks. From holidays to birthdays, Disney has always played a special role. When it came time to propose, Josh knew it had to be at Walt Disney World. He dropped to one knee at Picture Point, behind Disney’s Wedding Pavilion with Cinderella Castle in the distance, and of course, she said “Yes!” The couple celebrated their modern day fairy tale with a lovely ceremony at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion and an extravagant, stunning reception at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Ballrooms. The day was filled with elements from “Beauty and the Beast” from Lumiere announcing the dinner service to a Beast inspired groom’s cake. The evening began with colorful, glowing dessert reception featuring some of the sweet treats now available during the run of Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland park. Guests also had the opportunity to pose for photos alongside our Main Street Electrical Parade court dancers as well as Mickey Mouse himself. Then, fans stepped inside the Fantasyland Theatre for a panel discussion with Robyn Vossen, General Manager, Disneyland Entertainment Operations; John Addis, Show Director, Disneyland Creative Entertainment; and Bruce Healey, Principal Music Producer, Disneyland Creative Entertainment. Picture it: it’s a hot day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Learn About: Restaurantosaurus Animal Kingdom Disney World Restaurants (OK, that’s not the case right this minute, but LOTS of the time it’s a hot day in Animal Kingdom. ;-D) You need a beverage. Preferably one that is cold, sweet, and good for 5 o’clock somewhere. Even better if it has a groovy name. We got your back. The Cretaceous Cooler found at the crowd-pleasing Restaurantosaurus may just check all of those boxes for you. Aside from serving up consistently good Disney Counter Service classics like Chicken Nuggets and Bacon Cheeseburgers, Restaurantosaurus is also funky, fun, and kitschy enough to fit right in with its kitsch-central home, DinoLand U.S.A. (We say this with nothin’ but love.) Restaurantosaurus The paleontology students who — as the story goes — are responsible for the humorous décor all over the restaurant must’ve also felt the need for a cool drink to kick back with after a long week of study (well, those 21-and-over, that is). So even though Chicken Nuggets are always a good excuse to stop into this place, we love that they’ve got their own signature cocktail to try as well. The Cretaceous Cooler features Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Midori, and pineapple juice. Restaurantosaurus Cretaceous Cooler The Midori gives it that vivid hue that’s actually a great fit for the quirky locale. Like most quick service cocktails at the Parks, this one definitely errs on the side of sweet. But we were happy to discover a tart hint that worked really well and helped to make it more of a refresher. And while you may not be enjoying the refined atmosphere of, say, Nomad Lounge for this particular punch, we think Restaurantosaurs carries a charm all its own, and remains well worth a visit. Of course, Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort is a place to celebrate with family and friends any day of the year, but St. Patrick’s Day is Friday, March 17, and every St. Patrick’s Day brings with it a few special ways to celebrate in the District. In fact, several Downtown Disney District locations are already in the “wearin’ of the green” spirit – not to mention the drinkin’ and eatin’ of the green. You can follow the rainbow into Sprinkles for Irish Chocolate cupcakes made with Bailey’s Irish Cream, Green Velvet cupcakes (Sprinkles iconic Red Velvet cupcakes with a green hue), or green waffle cones, all available through March 31. Over at Marceline’s Confectionery, there’s a St. Patrick’s Day specialty apple – mouse ears under a leprechaun hat plus green shorts with Mickey’s signature buttons – available through Saturday, March 18. On Friday, Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen offers the traditional St. Patrick’s Day meal of corned beef and cabbage and, if you’re in the mood, a “Pot o’ Gold” concoction of Jameson Irish Whiskey with some secret lucky charms guaranteed to line your pockets with gold. Jamba Juice makes it easy to get a double dose of green goodness with a special offer – buy one smoothie, get another FREE – Thursday, March 15, through Sunday, March 19. Options include Apple ‘N Greens, Greens ‘N Ginger, Amazing Greens or Matcha Green Tea Blast. Or, if your taste in green potables runs more to beer, ESPN Zone offers you your choice (any pale beer can be made green) on Friday. Also green on the Zone menu: new grass-fed burgers.
