Planning to watch the Royal Wedding this weekend? I’ll be enjoying a girls’ weekend away with a few of my favorite friends – we plan to wake up early, eat scones, drink mimosas and watch the coverage live. And in case you’re wondering: yes, we will be dressing up! If you want to get fancy for the festivities, too, a visit to Chapel Hats is in order. With a plentiful selection of traditional hats (also perfect for the recent Kentucky Derby) and a plethora of frilly fascinators, you’re bound to find the perfect headpiece to complete your look. Disney Springs Marketing Coordinator Katherine Foote joined me in a recent outing to the store where we had way too much fun trying on hats and taking photos. (She looked great in every single hat. Me? It was hit or miss!) If you’ve always wanted to try out a fascinator but never had the “right” occasion, the Royal Wedding could be the just the excuse you’ve been waiting for. Do you have a favorite hat from Chapel Hats? If so, share it with us via Twitter or Instagram using hashtag #DisneySprings – we’d love to see it! View the full article

If you’re planning to celebrate the holiday season at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom this year, we’ve got everything you need to make the most of this jolly holiday party! Holiday Decorations on Main Street, USA! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a special, extra-ticketed event held at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on select dates in November and December 2018. The party includes special entertainment, one-of-a-kind character meet-and-greets, and (of course!) lots of party-specific treats! So without further ado: your Ultimate Guide to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2018! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Dates and Times Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will run on the following dates in 2018: November 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16, 25, 27, 29, 30 December 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21 Ticket prices vary throughout the run of the event, but start at $95 in advance or $105 at the gate (if still available). Guests may purchase tickets by calling (407) 939-1872. DFB TIP: Note that some guests, like Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members, may qualify for discounts. The Party runs from 7PM to midnight — but guests with tickets to the party have typically been allowed into the park one to three hours earlier! Once Upon a Christmastime Parade If you’re attending the Party, you’ll definitely want to check out the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade! This fun and nostalgic parade travels through the park twice each night — at 8:30PM and at 11PM. DFB TIP: Typically the second parade is much less crowded than the first, which allows you to enjoy rides, attractions, or meet-and-greets during the first parade showing while a larger percentage of guests are on Main Street, U.S.A., and hanging out along the parade route. Once Upon a Christmastime Parade Once Upon a Christmastime is a guest favorite, featuring all of your favorite characters, plus marching toy soldiers, Santa (of course!), and snow fall — yes! — all along Main Street! Snow on Main Street, USA! Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration This festive stage show takes place on the Cinderella Castle stage at 7:40, 9:25, 10:30, and midnight every night. It’s full of cheerful Christmas tunes and your favorite characters in all their holiday glory! See Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and friends party like it’s Christmas morning! Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration A Frozen Holiday Wish During this 8:15 presentation, Queen Elsa uses her powers to create — of course — a spectacular ice palace! This brilliant display of lights on Cinderella Castle glimmers throughout the party and provides a stunning centerpiece for the park. Elsa is joined by Princess Anna, Olaf, and Kristoff, who celebrate the Queen’s powers of ice and magic! A Frozen Holiday Wish Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Character Meet-and-Greets One of the most sought-after opportunities during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are unique character meet-and-greets. With more than fifteen characters (many in their holiday finest!), guests will line up for hours (no joke!) to meet such rare characters as the Seven Dwarfs and Jack Skellington (as Sandy Claws!). Guests can also meet the big guy: Santa himself! Seven Dwarfs Meet and Greet DFB TIP: If you’ve got your heart set on meeting specific characters during the party, note that party guests start lining up at character spots even before the party begins. In fact, if you want to meet Jack Skellington or the Dwarfs without wasting precious party time, you’ll want to line up well before the characters are even set to emerge (1-2 hours before the party starts is not unheard of). Also note that characters take a break about every twenty minutes — so stay in line even if you see them disappear. They’ll be back — and you’ll want to keep your spot to meet them! Holiday Wishes Fireworks Yup, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has its very own 360-degree fireworks show! And the Holiday Wishes Fireworks show is fabulous! Narrated by Jiminy Cricket, this pyrotechnic show features crazy fireworks and classic Christmas songs. DFB TIP: The best place to watch is right on Main Street, U.S.A., so you’ll want to prepare to be dazzled by the 10PM show! Holiday Wishes Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Music and Dance Parties Guests of the Party will find special entertainment throughout the night, including the Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show (catch it at 7:40, 8:30, 9:20, 10:45, and 11:45!) and VoicePlay on the Rocket Plaza Stage (nightly at 8:05, 8:55, 10:15, and 11:10) in Tomorrowland — and Club Tinsel, an on-going raucous dance party at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe that even gets tired little partiers groovin’! Club Tinsel Main Street, U.S.A., Snow Fall Missing the frozen white stuff from back home while you’re celebrating in warm central Florida? No worries! Throughout the night, snow will fall on Main Street, U.S.A., much to the delight of guests of all ages! You’ll definitely want to make time to enjoy the carefully calibrated precipitation. DFB TIP: Don’t catch those flakes on your tongue unless you’re okay with a soapy aftertaste! Cinderella Castle all lit up during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Eats Of course party guests will need to fuel their fun, and it’s easy to do with Free Party Eats like cookies, sno-cones, and pretzels, and Specialty Party Treats like yule logs, Red Velvet Mickey Waffles with Ice Cream, and a Sandy Claws Push Pop! (And if you can’t attend the party, there are some holiday eats available all day, including a festive Mickey Cinnamon Bun and a totally tasty Peppermint Cupcake!) Cinnamon Roll from Main Street Bakery Look for Party Snack inflatable peppermint sticks to light your way to free eats all over the park, so even if you opt not to buy any party-specific specialty eats, you certainly won’t go hungry (or get low blood sugar…). Peppermint Sticks Show the Way to Complimentary Party Snacks! All the cookies at Pinocchio’s! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party-Specific Merchandise These are merchandise items available only during the Party and include Limited Edition items, Party-rific Tee Shirts, collectible Magic Bands, and Passholder-only items (be sure to show your Passholder ID!)! Plan on hitting up the Emporium, Big Top Souvenirs, Mickey’s Star Traders, Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, Fantasy Faire, and Frontier Trading Post during the party to snag unique party gear! Keep in mind that items are available only while supplies last — so don’t wait if you spot something you love! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Shirt So much merch! Recently, Disney Parks Moms Panelist, Courtney, had the opportunity to enjoy this summer’s celebration, Pixar Fest at the Disneyland Resort. She was amazed at all there was to do and the numerous new offerings. Today she is sharing some of her must-do tips if you are headed to the Disneyland Resort to enjoy a day of Pixar fun and festivities. Let’s start off with my preschooler who was thrilled by the upbeat and colorful “Pixar Play Parade.” It’s a great daytime entertainment option for little ones who tend to run out of steam before dark. Make sure you are on the lookout for the newest friends to join the parade lineup, including Joy and Sadness from “Inside Out” riding in Bing Bong’s rocket wagon atop rainbow-colored memory orbs! Got tweens or teens (or a younger night owl, like my 7-year-old)? Then a must-do for your family is an evening viewing of “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular,” which lights up the skies in a celebration of friendship and beyond! Fireworks, music and projections can all be enjoyed from a handful of iconic Disneyland park locations – Sleeping Beauty Castle, the waters of Rivers of America, the front of “it’s a small world” and the buildings lining Main Street, U.S.A. Parents will love that the show’s projections can be seen in multiple locations of the park. If your kids are like mine, they might lack the patience to camp out for a viewing spot far in advance. Luckily, you can see so many unique and exciting elements of the show from various locations, not just the coveted spots near the castle. And in true Disney style, there are some incredible food items to choose from at Pixar Fest. The churro connoisseurs out there can sample several specialty flavors, available at churro carts throughout both theme parks! My favorite is the “Coco”-inspired Cocoa Churro, served with chocolate powder, salted cinnamon sugar and a spiced Mexican chocolate dipping sauce, available in Frontierland. Don’t leave Disney California Adventure park without swinging by Knick’s Knacks, an all-new store, for the best selection of Pixar Fest merchandise. In addition to Pixar-themed toys, apparel and drinkware (like the popular light-up alien straw cup!), you’ll find Pixar concept art ready to bring home, or you can get your own piece of art created on the spot by an on-location character sketch artist as a truly unique souvenir. Also, Pixar Pals will be waiting for you over in Paradise Gardens, including Buzz Lightyear and Woody, Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, Dug and Russell, or Flik and Atta. Bring your squirmy little ones to sing and dance to the sounds of a seven-piece musical ensemble — TripleDent Gum presents The Pixarmonic Orchestra — as they perform their own lively take on some of Pixar film’s most recognizable songs. The Paradise Garden Grill menu has been transformed into a collection of plates inspired by “Coco.” I recommend the tortitas de papa con queso (or crispy potato cakes with cheese)! Pixar Fest is taking place now for a limited time, through September 3. It was always fun to be in on the joke that the “Whisper” in Whispering Canyon Cafe was an intentional misnomer, as this Wilderness Lodge Table Service restaurant was not reflective of the actual atmosphere of the location. Whispering Canyon Sign It was always filled with hootin’ and hollerin’, brought about and encouraged by the wacky hijinks of the serving staff. “The Goings-On Can Get a Little Loud…” Dining Room During Morning Races It WAS, that is. We received notification from a DFB Reader (thank you, Caitlyn R.!) that on her recent visit to Whispering Canyon Cafe, she was informed that the Cast Member servers are no longer playing the loud and rowdy part, as per new instruction. So, it appears that the days of asking for a little ketchup and receiving this… Someone Asked for Ketchup . . . … are gone…at least for now. The reason for this change is unknown. In the past if diners did not wish to participate in the antics at their table, they could opt out by using a flip card on the table which easily notified their server of their preference. Flip Card –Green ” Jump and Play” Side Flip Card — Red “Watch from the Fence!” Side As of publishing, the change has NOT been reflected on Disney World website, which still spotlights the ways they like to “horse around” at the Cafe. This gives us hope that maybe the change was just temporary and they’ll eventually return to the fun antics Whispering Canyon is known for. As we know, the only consistent thing about Disney restaurants is that they’re inconsistent ;-D So changes can always be temporary. Whispering Canyon Cafe page screenshot But in case you do have an upcoming Advance Dining Reservation and the silly and fun atmosphere was a major reason your traveling group wished to visit the Whispering Canyon Cafe, we wanted to let you know. And IF you do have an upcoming ADR, let us know what your experience is here — fun antics, or just standard hotel dining? Want to stay informed of ALL the Disney News?? Pixar Fest remains in full effect at Disneyland Resort — and the party continues through September 3! So there’s plenty of time to get in on all the Pixar Food action! Pixar Fest ©Disney But for Annual Passholders, there’s a limited time challenge that’s all about the churro! Thanks to @DisneylandAP on Twitter, we’ve got a pic and the skinny on how to score a Pixar Fest-only Monsters button (oh — and four tasty churros!)! AP Churro Challenge Here’s the low-down. Pick up an AP Churro Challenge Map for $5 at the Frontierland Churro Cart, the Town Square Churro Cart, the New Orleans Square Churro Cart, or the ‘a bug’s land’ Churro Cart. (These are also the locations of the four churros in the challenge, which we’ll get into momentarily!) Frontierland Churro Cart — home of the Coco Churro! Then pick up each of the four churros listed on the map (or just hit up the cart for the sticker — no churro purchase necessary!). When you show your Annual Pass to the cast members at each cart, you’ll get a sticker for your map. Once you’ve collected all four stickers, take your map to AP Corner in Paradise Gardens to receive your Monsters button! ©DisneylandAP The Churro Challenge starts May 14 and goes through June 8, so you’ve got a few weeks to make it happen! Well, the news is as good as the churros because the challenge includes the Coco Churro, Kevin’s (Lemon) Churro, Presto Rabbit (Carrot Cake) Churro, and Ants on a Log (Donut Iced) Churro. We love the Coco Churro, which is dusted with Chocolate Powder and Salted Cinnamon Sugar and served with Mexican Chocolate Sauce! This is found at the Frontierland Churro Cart, and it’s one of our favorite eats of all of Pixar Fest! Cocoa Churro Kevin’s (Lemon) Churro is another excellent churro choice, dusted not only with Lemon-Flavored Sugar but also with pulverized Fruity Pebbles! Find this one at the Town Square Churro Cart. Lemon Churro The Presto Rabbit (Carrot Cake) Churro is located at the New Orleans Square Churro Cart and comes with tasty Cream Cheese Dip! Carrot Cake Churros with Raisin-Carrot Cream Cheese Frosting The last of the challenge’s churros is the Ants on a Log (Donut Glazed) Churro found at the ‘a bug’s life’ Churro Cart.
