Magic mirror on the wall, who’s the hungriest of them all? Starting this December, Storybook Dining at Artist Point invites you to venture into a magical forest-like setting inspired by Walt Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” Brought to life through rustic décor and iconic music, we’ve brought this beloved fairytale to life. During this immersive character dining experience, you’ll be visited by Snow White and a few of her forest-dwelling friends. You might even have an evil encounter with the Queen! In addition to fun characters, tempt your taste buds with a seasonal themed menu that combines classic dishes with playful presentation. You’ll begin your story with an array of delicious shared appetizers: Hunter’s Pie with chicken, black truffle, and stone fruit preserve; Winter Squash Bisque with caramel loli and granola served in an adorable black cauldron; Wicked Shrimp Cocktail with soy, miso, avocado, thai chili, and greens; and From the Garden, an array of fruits, vegetables, cheese, and create-your-own honey butter. For the main entrées, you’ll enjoy your choice of one of the many unique dishes such as the Royal Prime Rib Roast with horseradish mashed potato, hay-smoked carrots, popover, and jus as well as Magic Mirror Slow Braised Veal Shank with mashed celery root, wilted winter greens, and jus. Or if seafood is more your style, try the Seafood Stew with shrimp, bay scallops, mussels, tomato, and fennel. Kids can enjoy Grumpy’s Grub. This includes the same appetizers and desserts as the main menu and their choice of entrée. Kid’s entrées include the Princess Pasta (with your choice of red sauce or cheese sauce), the Vegetarian Steam Bun (with crip shiitake, hoisin, pickles, and cilantro), Royal Prime Rib Roast, and Grilled Chicken (both served with roasted potatoes and broccolini). Give your story a sweet ending with an array of shared desserts for the table. Sing “Heigh Ho” as you discover The Miner’s Treasure made up of sponge cake, chocolate gems, and buttercream icing or enjoy the enchanted flavors of the Fairy Tale Gooseberry Pie with meringue. You can even try a “Poison” Apple made of white chocolate apple mousse with a sour center. But if you’re trying to impress, The Hunter’s Gift to the Queen is just the thing with crackled maple popcorn and ganache hearts. If you’re feeling a little thirsty while you’re eating, try some of the wickedly refreshing cocktails and non-alcoholic mocktails we’ve brewed up just for you! Can it be? What’s This? In the middle of Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party season we’re seeing Disney hard at work putting Christmas lights up on Cinderella Castle! Cinderella Castle all lit up during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! It takes a lot of lights to make the Castle sparkle like this every season! So, we guess starting in October might not be a bad idea! Take a close look at all of the blue spires and on some of the turrets and you’ll see what looks like netting — those are the Christmas lights! There are celebrity chefs – and then there is the ICAG. For those of you not obsessed with foodie TV – as I am – ICAG is short for Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli. One of the most celebrated chefs on TV, Guarnaschelli embodies the presence, poise and charisma of a TV veteran with a passion for food and some “mad cooking skills.” She brings those skills to the “Sunday Brunch with the Chef” at this year’s Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Guarnaschelli has either competed in or been a judge on a host of shows on the Food Network and its sister network Cooking Channel. She also dedicates her time to a number of food-related charities, when she’s not being a mom. We caught up with the ICAG at her restaurant Butter in Manhattan where she talked to our own Mark Daniel about her life, her culinary journey, her approach to food and what fans can expect from her appearance at the Festival. If you’ve had a chance to visit the Disneyland Resort during Halloween Time, it’s not hard to miss the giant Mickey Mouse jack-o’-lantern on Main Street, U.S.A in Disneyland park or the eerie Headless Horseman on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure park. However, what you may not have noticed at first glance is the fine detailed décor prepared by our resort enhancement team. Price hikes to Disney food and beverage items around both properties. These price changes, as it turns out, have also affected some food and beverage items at the 2018 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Food Booths….in the middle of the festival. (???) 2017 Epcot Food and Wine For example, Refreshment Port‘s food and beverage offerings now show pricing up to $1.00 more than it was at the beginning of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival on nearly every single item. Elsewhere, we’re seeing price increases mostly on beverages. At the Craft Drafts area of the Festival Center, we saw prices on all beers go up by $.25, and flights went up by $.50. The same price increases are in effect at the Light Lab booth. History was made when Be Our Guest Restaurant was the first table service restaurant in Magic Kingdom to serve alcohol. (Magic Kingdom was previously a dry park.) Since that time, alcohol service has expanded to table service restaurants throughout Magic Kingdom. Be Our Guest Restaurant It is important to note, though, that alcohol was served at Be Our Guest only during dinner. Just in time for the Halloween season, Vampirina has joined the breakfast fun at Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine at Hollywood & Vine. This Disney’s Hollywood Studios spot is the place to eat, play and laugh along with favorite Disney Junior friends including Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins and Roadster Racer Goofy. Vampirina (aka “Vee”) is the star of the hit Disney Junior series, “Vampirina,” which blends spooky fun, heartfelt storytelling and Broadway-caliber music in stories that follow Vee as she faces the joys and trials of being the new kid in town after her family moves from Transylvania to Pennsylvania, including making friends and attending a new school in the human world. Well, in case you missed it… a substantial increase in price for food and beverage items was noticed all over Disney World yesterday. And today, we have news that similar price increases have come to Disneyland Resort as well. Award Wieners With thanks to Instagram friend rgrrabbit1, we have the following example: A regular Fountain Beverage at Disneyland Resort is now $3.99 (up from $3.59 just this past Sunday) and a large Fountain Beverage is $4.19 (up from $3.99). Fall is officially here and while someone might want to get Mother Nature a pumpkin spice latte and kindly ask her to turn down the heat, Halloween is near and one thing is clear: I can’t wait! At home, I’m dreaming about the perfect costume for my 16-month old son (any suggestions?) and at work, I’m rounding up details on all the not-to-be-missed Halloween fun taking place at Disney Springs this month. While candy and costumes are part of the mix, there’s so much more to enjoy this season, including a one-night only event that celebrates the 25th Anniversary of one of the most beloved Halloween – or is it Christmas? – movies of all time. The Salt and Straw ice cream moment we’ve all been waiting for at Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney is coming soon! Salt & Straw Containers Salt & Straw, which announced it was opening a Downtown Disney location way back in April, will throw open its doors very soon, welcoming all who love small-batch ice cream in fabulously unique flavors like Honey Lavender and Black Olive Brittle & Goat Cheese. Our own Disneyland correspondent Heather (check her @DiningInDisney!) was sent some yummy Salt & Straw flavors so she could get a sneak peek and share with you what’s in store for visitors to the Disneyland location. Suffice to say: it’s awesome! Heather’s favorite of the bunch was this fun Lucky Charms-inspired Pots of Gold and Rainbows flavor! Heads up, all! Big news today on the Disney price increase front: there seems to be a price hike to fountain beverages around Disney World counter service locations. Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom JUST yesterday during our visit to Magic Kingdom (October 1st), the standard price for a regular Fountain Beverage was $3.29. However, today (October 2nd), DFB reader Shelley C. reported that she was seeing the price listed for regular sized Fountain Beverages as $3.99. In taking a peek around Mobile Order menus on the My Disney Experience app, this does indeed appear to be the case in several locations. A quick search around reveals the $3.99 price tag for Fountain Beverages at Casey’s Corner, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, and Columbia Harbour House. Mobile Order Screenshot No pun intended, but.. GULP! That’s a pretty significant increase, don’t you think? We are unaware if this pricing might be seasonal, whether it is in every park quick service location at this time, or whether this pricing expands to Resort Counter Service locations. As we previously announced, mobile ordering through the Disneyland App recently expanded to even more quick-service restaurants around both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks. And just last week, new locations at Disneyland park – Edelweiss Snacks, Stage Door Café, Refreshment Corner and Royal Street Veranda – were added to the lineup, which now includes more than 20 participating locations! Mobile ordering makes it easier than ever for guests to order, pay and pick up fresh food while spending a day at the parks. All you need is your phone and the Disneyland app, and you can place and order anywhere at Disneyland Resort! Whether you’re strolling down Main Street, U.S.A., or waiting to hop on Haunted Mansion Holiday, mobile order makes it easy to plan ahead, save time and make the most out of your day. In addition to the full list of menu offerings at each of these locations, guests can also currently order some seasonal favorites at these new locations, including the Halloween Hot Dog at Refreshment Corner and seasonal funnel cake at Stage Door Cafe, now through October 31. In honor of our first-ever cruise to Bermuda, setting sail this week from New York City, I’m sharing 10 of the top things to know, including Port Adventure suggestions, so you can experience the best of this unique tropical island.
