In celebration of International Day of the Girl, the young women from the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up initiative who produced and directed Disney’s new #DreamBigPrincess global video series stopped by Walt Disney World Resort! The video series launched yesterday, sharing the stories of 20 trailblazing women across technology, entertainment, medicine, law, sports, arts, science, fashion and politics to show what’s possible if you dream big. Each video offers advice and inspiration on achieving success for the next generation of young leaders across the globe. During their visit, the aspiring filmmakers enjoyed fan-favorite attractions and entertainment around the resort while Disney bounding as their favorite female Disney characters. Take a look at some of their adventures in the parks! Disney’s “Dream Big, Princess” campaign uses the stories of fictional heroines like Moana and Tiana, and real-life role models to encourage kids around the globe to follow their dreams. Today The Walt Disney Company announced a $1 million contribution to aid in relief efforts across Florida’s Gulf Coast region and other areas impacted by Hurricane Michael. The donation will support disaster response and recovery efforts through the Florida Disaster Fund. “All of us here at Disney have the families and communities impacted by this powerful storm in our hearts,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “Florida has been our home for almost 50 years, and our contribution will support our neighbors as they rebuild their communities in the wake of this powerful storm.” In addition to Disney’s donation announced today, contributions from Disney employees to eligible relief and recovery organizations will be matched dollar for dollar by Disney Employee Matching Gifts: A Program of The Walt Disney Company Foundation. Disney works on an ongoing basis with numerous nonprofit organizations on emergency preparedness efforts, including sharing lifesaving information with families before and during emergencies, having supplies prepositioned and at-the-ready to respond to natural disasters, and providing resources to activate large-scale responses in the event of a disaster. Tonight’s After Dark images were snapped at the Haunted Mansion here at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. The Haunted Mansion is my all-time favorite attraction. I love the spine-tingling chills and the “wall-to-wall running creeps,” so much so that it’s a must-do for my family each time we visit the park. We’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” today with a special edition of our ongoing tutorial art series. Disney artist Stephen Ketchum from Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, who is a big fan of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” film, joins us to share easy step-by-step instructions for bringing Sally to life on paper. As you can see in our video, Stephen begins by lightly drawing an upside-down teardrop and horizontal guidelines to help with facial features to create a perfect Sally. So, if you’re thinking, “I sure could go for some potatoes…” well, then, Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom has a little something (or two!) for you! Loaded Mashed Potato Fries and Hot Dog The Featured Hot Diggity Dog of the Month for October is the Loaded Mashed Potato Hot Dog! And when we heard about it, we knew we had to try it. Loaded Mashed Potato Hot Diggity Dog sign As with all the other hot dogs at Casey’s, you can order it in regular size or in a Foot-Long, which is what you see here. Loaded Mashed Potato Hot Diggity Dog Topping the all-beef hot dog are garlic mashed potatoes, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, bacon, scallions and sour cream, and green onions. Loaded Mashed Potato Hot Diggity Dog First of all, they don’t skimp on the toppings on these over-the-top dogs, and this month’s Featured Dog is no exception. Loaded Mashed Potato Hot Diggity Dog But wait… there’s more. For a while now, Casey’s has also been serving Monthly Special Loaded Fries. That means you can get the toppings of the Featured Hot Dog on top of French Fries instead. You can purchase them on their own, or upgrade your Hot Dog meal with them for an additional $2.20. Casey’s Corner Menu So that means that this month, you’ve got yourself a heaping helping of Loaded Mashed Potato French Fries! Loaded Mashed Potato Fries Now, in both cases, the mashed potatoes themselves are quite tasty, with a really nice amount of garlic. And the flavors go well with the hot dog — it’s salty, for sure, but with just a hint of sweetness from the caramelized onions. I thought the texture would be super weird, and I also thought it looked off-putting at first. Loaded Mashed Potato Hot Diggity Dog But the mashed potatoes were so soft, it ended up working like a dip, of sorts. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it was pretty good! Unfortunately, though, the garlic still didn’t lend enough flavor variety to the French Fries, which ended up being a case of potato overload. (And I love potatoes.) Loaded Mashed Potato Fries We’ve seen everything from Cheetos-topped Dogs to Buffalo Chicken Dogs and more at Casey’s as of late. In this new hilarious series, brother and sister, Cooper and Cami Wrather, co-host the online show “Would You Wrather?” in which they ask questions to their followers (called Wratherheads) to help them make small and big questions. We asked Ruby Rose Turner, who plays Cami, questions about her recent trip to Walt Disney World Resort to learn what it was like to visit for the first time. What was it like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time? “An absolute dream come true! As we announced last year, a new 6,500-space parking structure is currently under construction near the Mickey & Friends structure at the Disneyland Resort. We are pleased to share the project is starting to take shape and it will now also feature a new pedestrian bridge over Magic Way. This new bridge will connect visitors from the parking structure—over Magic Way— to the rest of the resort, allowing guests the option to stroll through the Downtown Disney District to the theme parks’ Main Entrance. In addition, the new bridge eliminates the foot traffic crossing the street at Disneyland Drive and Magic Way, providing not only convenience, but also greater pedestrian safety and better traffic circulation. Set to be completed next year, these parking and transportation enhancements—along with other existing parking options throughout the resort area—are designed to dramatically improve parking and traffic flow. The new parking structure is expected to significantly speed up guest arrival by providing a 60 percent increase in the number of access lanes and by adding parking capacity on the west side of the resort. In addition, the tram boarding area will be reconfigured to enhance the transportation experience for guests parking at both the new structure and Mickey & Friends. In this week’s Disney Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what the Evil Queen from “Snow White” would do if she had the chance to visit the Walt Disney World Resort during this spooky time of year. In the film, the Evil Queen uses a Huntsman to get rid of Snow White, taking her off into the woods where she narrowly escapes to the safety of the home of the Seven Dwarfs. According to Ashley, the Evil Queen would likely be up to no good at this time of year, and may encounter the perfect evil-doing partner in the woods of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. “The Evil Queen is always looking for a new huntsman,” she said. “It’s easy to imagine her traveling to Fort Wilderness to seek out the help from the Headless Horseman.” View the full article

It seems that PizzeRizzo — the Counter Service pizza spot in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios — will be moving to seasonal operations soon. PizzeRizzo Up until this morning, the Disney World website displayed operating hours for PizzeRizzo nearly through the end of the month, similar to the other Counter Service locations in Hollywood Studios like ABC Commissary. However, now PizzeRizzo is displaying “No times available” starting Sunday, October 21st. PizzeRizzo page screenshot The fact that the page still exists, though, indicates that “The City’s Top Rated Pizza” may be open on a seasonal basis (though no future hours are posted at this time). PizzeRizzo — The City’s Top Rated Pizza Operating hours do appear through Saturday, October 20th, primarily from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, so if you’d like to stop in to see Rizzo’s place and check out the Muppets-themed space, seems like this week and next is the time to do so until further notice!
