STOP EVERYTHING! For those of you who love sweets as much as we do, there’s a new addition over in Disney Springs you cannot miss out on. @everglazed_fl on Instagram One of our favorite spots to grab a sweet treat is none other than Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew, and now there’s a new addition we’ve become obsessed with. If one large donut is a little too much for you, there are new Donut Hole Skewers available that are PERFECT for those who want a smaller sweet treat! Everglazed just shared on their social media that their new Donut Hole Skewers are available in three different flavors. Based on the post they made, these aren’t labeled as limited-time or only for a short season, so, while we’re confirming soon, it appears these are around for the foreseeable future! The first of the three flavors is Cookies & Cream… @everglazed_fl on Instagram …then there’s Strawberry Sprinkles… @everglazed_fl on Instagram …and the final flavor is Chocolate & PB Chips. @everglazed_fl on Instagram This means there’s something for everyone! We’re really crossing our fingers that these will stay available for quite some time, and maybe we’ll even see more flavors added in the near future. More Recent Reviews! Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has been the world’s busiest — and most crowded — theme park nearly every year since 1971. 2026 will likely be no exception, as millions will flock to the “Most Magical Place on Earth” despite the massive Piston Peak and Villains Land construction project. However, some days will be even more crowded — and wiser to avoid — than others. Magic Kingdom While there’s really no such thing as an “off season” at Walt Disney World these days, that doesn’t mean that the traditional Holidays associated with vacation aren’t some of the park’s busiest. President’s Day Weekend (2/13-2/15) The first major school holiday of the year, and the first period to avoid the Magic Kingdom, comes in February with Presidents’ Day. The weekend around the Holiday (which falls on February 16th) is always busy, as is the week after, which often serves as a winter break for many school children, especially in the northeast. Long lines even after opening Memorial Day Weekend (5/22-5/25) As the unofficial start of the summer season, Memorial Day weekend is always a crowded one at the resort. On top of that, Disney has a habit of debuting new or refurbished attractions during this period, which this year could potentially include the refurbished Big Thunder Mountain and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at the park. The Dapper Dans in their Memorial Day outfits 4th of July Weekend (7/3-7/5) Walt Disney World always goes BIG for the Fourth of July, complete with massive patriotic fireworks shows at the Magic Kingdom and massive crowds. 2026 will likely be even bigger than usual, considering it will mark the 250th birthday of the United States. 4th of July in Magic Kingdom Christmas Day (12/25) Believe it or not, Christmas Day is one of the busiest days at Walt Disney World as many guests choose to spend the Holiday on property. The Magic Kingdom is particularly popular thanks to nostalgia, its Christmas parade offering, and the oh-so-holiday meal offering at Liberty Tree Tavern. The Patriot’s Platter New Year’s Eve (12/31) And finally, we’ll circle all the way to the end of the year, as MANY revelers choose to ring in the new year at Walt Disney World, especially at Magic Kingdom which is renowned for its fireworks presentation. Quick tip: In recent years, Disney has offered the Magic Kingdom’s New Year’s fireworks four times: Shows have launched at 7:30 PM and 11:50 PM on both the 31st and a day early on the 30th. New Year’s Eve Fireworks If you’re planning to visit the Magic Kingdom in 2026 and want to avoid the largest crowds and longest lines, you’ll want to avoid these dates if possible. Stay tuned to DFB for more on the state of Disney World in 2026. 5 Magic Kingdom Secrets Disney Doesn’t Want You to Know Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! FINALLY! Disneyland is finally sharing some of its iconic snacks with Disney World, and we’re diving into the Hundred Acre Woods to try them. Goofy’s Candy Company We headed to Goofy’s Candy Company at Disney Springs to try two Disneyland treats to see if us East Coast folks can skip a trip to the West. Okay, you probably still need to visit Disneyland, but at least you know you can grab these snacks in Disney World, so you can focus on other treats during your visit. First, we tried the Tigger Tail Marshmallow Wand, which is covered in a cholatey colored coating for $6.49. Tigger Tail Marshmallow Wand This marshmallow wand is built with three marshmallows and dipped in white chocolate and then decorated to make it look like Tigger’s bouncing tail! We thought the dye in the chocolate gave this one a sweeter, more vanilla-like flavor. They were easy to eat since you can pull the marshmallows off individually or eat off the stick — we didn’t find them falling off, which we really appreciated. It was sticky and fluffy, just like marshmallows should be! Inside The Winnie the Pooh Marshmallow Wand is also covered in colored chocolate, but with red singing sugar and a chocolatey honey bee, also for $6.49. Winnie the Pooh Marshmallow Wand This one is very similar to the Tigger Tai, but the coating had a slightly different flavor because of the different dyes. The yellow was a bit more muted in flavor, but the red on top tasted stronger (kinda like the dye in a red velvet cake!). The sugar crystals added a nice crunch, and while the honey bee was too hard to really eat, we thought it was a cute addition. FLUFFY! Both tails come individually wrapped, so it’s easy to grab the snack and throw it in your backpack or devour it in one sitting like we did. The snacks are super sugary, covered in chocolate and dye, and a solid treat to enjoy. They make for super cute pictures, too. Likely, this isn’t going to be the most unique treat you try on your Disney World trip, but kids are going to love it, and sometimes it’s nice to have a treat you know you’re going to love. Should you pick or get both? Here at Disney Food Blog, we’re always trying new snacks around Disney World and Disneyland so you can know what’s worth the money during your visit. There’s a reason this Disney World hotel’s breakfast is always booked. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere, energy, and sheer variety of food make it clear why so many people go out of their way (and wake up early) to score a reservation here. Breakfast at Boma We recently stopped by Boma — Flavors of Africa for breakfast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Stepping into Boma — Flavors of Africa for breakfast feels like walking into a vibrant celebration — one that’s rich in texture, color, and the kind of infectious energy that wakes you up just as effectively as that first cup of coffee. The dining room opens up with high ceilings, warm earth tones, and decor inspired by the diverse regions of Africa, creating an inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for the rest of your day. Warm and inviting space Rich wood accents, patterned fabrics, and beautifully crafted tribal art make Boma feel less like a conventional buffet and more like a lively cultural experience — a place where your morning meal becomes part of your Disney vacation story. Lots of gorgeous accents Unlike some breakfast locations that can feel rushed or purely functional, Boma strikes a balance between casual comfort and spirited immersion. Even in the early morning light, the space feels energized, mostly due to the chatter of fellow guests, the clink of breakfast dishes, and the aroma of freshly made breakfast breads, which gives the room a sense of communal warmth. It also smells amazing Large windows let in soft natural light, offering glimpses of the resort’s lush landscaping and, on a good day, the distant savanna beyond. It’s a reminder that you’re not just eating breakfast — you’re beginning your day in a resort known for its distinctive global flavor. If you get here early enough, you can see the sun rising from those windows, and it’s breathtaking. Lots of natural light Despite its size, the restaurant never feels chaotic. The layout is thoughtfully arranged so that even during peak morning hours, there are cozy nooks and seating areas that make the experience feel intimate instead of overwhelming. Families, couples, and solo travelers alike all seem to settle into their meals with ease, chatting about plans for the parks or simply savoring a slower start. There’s a rhythm to Boma’s breakfast service (relaxed but purposeful) that pairs perfectly with the adventurous spirit of Animal Kingdom Lodge. Let’s eat! Whether you’re here for the food, the ambiance, or a bit of both, Boma’s breakfast atmosphere hits all the right notes. It’s bright where it needs to be, richly textured without being overdone, and consistently filled with the kind of buzz that makes you glad you booked the reservation. But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu Let’s talk about the breakfast menu at Boma, because this isn’t your typical hotel buffet — it’s a full-on wake-up call with flavor and variety that’ll keep you fueled for long park days. You walk in and immediately notice there’s something for every appetite: from classic breakfast staples to African-inspired twists that are surprisingly approachable — and honestly, often delicious. Adult pricing will run you $39 per adult, while children ages 3-9 can dine here for $23 per child. ©Disney On the classic side, you’ll find everything you’d expect from a hearty breakfast buffet: made-to-order scrambled eggs, breakfast meats like bacon and sausage, and stacks of crispy breakfast potatoes. There’s fresh fruit, cereals, and yogurts for something quick and familiar. But Boma doesn’t stop there. ©Disney The real fun begins with the African-inspired offerings sprinkled throughout the spread. Think rich breakfast stews, spiced grains, slightly sweet cardamom-infused dishes, and unique takes on staples that give you something to talk about between bites. One minute you’re loading up on scrambled eggs, the next you’re dipping into tamarind-flavored options or sampling savory dishes you never knew you needed at brunch. That blend of familiar and unexpected is what makes Boma’s breakfast stand out. ©Disney And yes — bakery items are a highlight. There’s usually a variety of pastries and bread, from basic rolls to spiced delights that pair shockingly well with butter or jam. Add in a robust coffee station and fresh juices, and you’re set. Everything you would want in a breakfast buffet But our favorite part? You can absolutely build a classic Disney breakfast plate here and mix in something new. Whether you only touch the familiar stuff or dive headfirst into the African-inspired dishes, the menu feels generous, and it keeps you full long after you leave the table. And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats We did what you do at any buffet and filled up a plate and dug in. The bacon is crispy, juicy, flexible, and chewy in parts. It was cooked perfectly, so it was nice and brittle. It also isn’t super fatty, which we appreciate. Crispy bacon The eggs are also really good with just the right amount of seasoning. The Simba waffle tastes like the Mickey waffle, but it’s fun and perfect for breakfast here. You don’t get syrup at the buffet, though. The servers bring you a little boat of it instead. It’s less messy that way! The Tomato Halves were juicy and flavorful. Our plate We also grabbed a little parfait with yogurt, berries, and granola. There was also a full strawberry on top. The flavors really blended well together. And if you don’t like granola, you can get one without it. Fruit and yogurt parfait We also picked up a mixed fruit salad. It was unique in that it had some African spices and seeds in it, along with strawberries, blueberries, and fruit juices. This is surprisingly good with lots of great texture and crunch. The fruity flavors are perfect for the first meal of the day. And those flavors worked well with the nuttiness of the seeds and spices. This fruit salad was so interesting Let’s talk pastries. There are plenty to choose from, including a Classic Cinnamon Roll. This is about the same one you can get at other buffets, but it’s a nice breakfast pastry, and we’ll pick it up every time. There was also something like a Sticky Bun…this kinda’ reminded us of a cross between the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake at Liberty Tree Tavern and a cinnamon bun, and we mean that in the best way possible. It has a caramelized texture with some praline pecans, and all of those flavors worked great together. Pastries Then there’s the Bread Pudding with vanilla cream sauce on top. It’s a delicious bread pudding, and again, great for breakfast. There’s even some fruit or something in there, too. SO good. Bread pudding The breakfast potatoes were well-cooked and well-seasoned with onions and diced peppers added to brighten them up. Great breakfast potatoes We also had some of the hard-boiled eggs, but these were different because they had African spices peppered over the top, which really gave them a flavor we really liked. The spices on this egg are so good Other buffet options include fruits, cheeses, some African-inspired dishes, carving stations, Mickey waffles, biscuits and gravy, pork sausage links, all kinds of eggs, pancakes, and all kinds of pastries. There’s even a toaster if you want to toast some bread or a bagel, plus a huge selection of jellies, jams, and sauces. So there are a lot of great flavors and options. Drinks So, as you may know, you get unlimited POG Juice (passion fruit, orange, and guava juice) during breakfast, and that stuff is so delightfully sweet, tropical, and wonderful. All you can drink POG juice But that’s not all we had to drink at Boma. Because we also ordered a drink, the Zebra Dome Cold Brew, and we think you’re going to love it. It’s made with Joffrey’s Coffee Cold Brew Coffee, Amarula Cream Liqueur, Mozart Chocolate Liqueur, Whipped Cream, and garnished with a Zebra Dome for $18.50. If you love zebra domes, this is the coffee cocktail for you. You already know what the zebra dome tastes like with that lovely mousse inside. The coffee is cold brew, which tends to be less bitter than regular brewed coffee, but for some, it may still be an acquired taste. Zebra Dome Cold Brew The coffee also doesn’t have a lot of sugar or cream added to it because you’re getting so much sweetness from the zebra dome itself. The coffee itself, though, doesn’t have a lot of sweetness, although if you give it a good stir before drinking it, you get those other flavors in it. This is a great addition to the menu. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Booking a reservation for breakfast at BOMA is a no-brainer if you’re staying at the hotel it’s located at. You want a big breakfast before your day in Animal Kingdom. This is a great place to book before you visit Animal Kingdom because you can just Uber over from your regular hotel and then take the bus to the park when you’re done. You want a breakfast that’s a little different. Although you’ll find something to please nearly every palate at Boma, you’ll also find some unique African flavors that no other Disney World buffet is going to offer. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re not staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is a trek to get over to Animal Kingdom Lodge from most other parts of Disney World. You want a small breakfast. If you just want something simple, like a muffin and coffee, to get your day started, this buffet would offer entirely too much food. You want a character breakfast. Yes, this is a buffet, but you won’t find any characters here. Overall It’s understandable why Boma remains so popular with Disney World visitors. It’s the most unique buffet on the property, and you have so many different options to choose from when you have breakfast here. It also offers a great introduction to the flavors of Africa without getting TOO outside the box, if you’re interested in trying something new. Also, unlimited POG juice…need we say more? In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Universal… what are you doing right now? The theme park is already working on updates to Epic Universe, and construction has been ongoing for months on a majorly secretive project. ©Universal Now, thanks to a very ominous post over on X, we think a major Universal announcement is headed our way! Buckle up and be prepared to get furious (this will make more sense in just a moment). Does this imply we’re getting a major announcement on January 20th? We’re ready to take it a step further and guess that this might just be connected to the Fast and Furious franchise, thanks to the speedometer hint! What exactly could this hint at, along with the films? We have a few ideas. First, Universal closed one of its biggest coasters in August 2025 and has yet to reveal its replacement. Rip Ride Rockit before it was demolished Rip Ride Rockit has since been demolished, but permits for the area have hinted at a two-story structure that will pop up in this spot. We’ve been keeping up with construction in this area thanks to Bioreconstruct over on X. The most recent photos from January 2026 show some big changes to the area, like a new foundation. ©bioreconstruct They’ve also started digging down to make even more room for the new structure. This photo in particular shows footers for track spurs in the service building. ©bioreconstruct You can see a lot of Team Members are hard at work on this major project! It’s become clear that the new attraction will be a roller coaster, which is another reason we think this project could be connected to the Fast and Furious. ©bioreconstruct How do we know that? Well, right now Universal Studios Hollywood is currently developing the Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster, which is opening in 2026. This new attraction is also leading to the permanent closure of Fast & Furious – Supercharged in the California theme park. We really think there’s a world where this brand-new coaster might just be debuting in Orlando in the future. ©bioreconstruct These new construction photos, along with this announcement teaser, really have us convinced something big is coming soon! We won’t know officially until tomorrow what this teaser is about, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Currently, the park only has two thrill attractions, Escape from Gringotts and Revenge of the Mummy, which many would argue are really huge thrills compared to Rip Ride Rockit. Whatever this new attraction will be, it’s got some big tracks to fill! You can read more news from Universal right here. This may come off as blasphemous…but…maybe it’s a good idea to skip a stay at a Disney World hotel during your next vacation! Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Before you blow up at me, hear me out. Staying at a Disney World hotel has always felt like the default choice, right? Great perks, themed lodging, and the safety of knowing you’re always in the Disney bubble — these benefits keep guests coming back to Disney World hotels time and time again. With that said, if your eyes started watering when you saw the hotel price points and you started thinking about looking for hotels elsewhere…well, I’m here to tell you that you might be making the right call. Good Neighbor Hotels are local hotels in the Disney World area that aren’t owned by Disney, but partner with the company to provide excellent experiences for Disney World guests looking to take advantage of some Disney World hotel perks while providing lower nightly rates. For many travelers, skipping a Disney hotel in favor of a Good Neighbor one might make a whole lot of sense. Let’s talk about the perks that are quietly convincing folks to do just that. ©Embassy Suites Most people force themselves to pony up and stay at a Disney hotel for perks like Early Theme Park Entry. However, many don’t know that lots of Good Neighbor Hotels offer this perk! Select Disney World Good Neighbor Hotels qualify for Early Theme Park Entry — which lets guests into the Parks 30 minutes before the official opening time. This perk is a major draw for the Disney hotels, but knowing you can get this at many of the Good Neighbor Hotels for a cheaper nightly rate makes a world of difference. Early entry sign! That early half hour can be huge. It may mean the difference between riding a major attraction like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Flight of Passage versus waiting hours in a regular standby line or missing it altogether. Not all Good Neighbor Hotels offer this perk, however, so you’ll want to double-check before you book. Early Entry at EPCOT Another perk is one you won’t find at Disney hotels: COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST. Good Neighbor Hotels are often chains, and a lot of these chains — like Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton — offer free breakfast with a stay. In the long run, that can mean less money spent before you even hit the Parks, one less meal to plan, and fewer hangry people in your party. For large families, we’re talking savings that can range up to hundreds of dollars over the course of a trip. As much as I love a good character meal breakfast buffet, I think I’d rather keep my wallet AND belly full. Yum! Another perk is that you can use your loyalty rewards. Disney hotels don’t earn you Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy, or World of Hyatt points. Good Neighbor Hotels, on the other hand? Absolutely. That can equate to free nights, elite status perks, room upgrades, and late checkout. Your stay anywhere in the world comes back to reward you during a Disney World vacation. While there certainly are special deals and perks offered seasonally at Disney hotels, they are limited to Disney World. Essentially, that limitation is restricted when you stay at one of those major chains instead. If you travel even semi-regularly, those points can stack up fast, and suddenly your Disney trip is helping pay for your next vacation. © DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando – Disney Springs Area Alright, so you might be saying at this point, “David, you are making a good case, but you’re forgetting about one major thing…TRANSPORTATION!” It’s true — between the Disney Skyliner, water taxi service, bus routes, and Disney Monorail, Disney World’s complimentary transportation is elite and better than what’s offered at Good Neighbor Hotels. With that said, many Good Neighbor Hotels do offer complimentary shuttles to the Disney parks. Are they as frequent as Disney buses? No, and they often come with limitations like they’ll only take you to specific parks, they might not pick you up from certain places, and they might not drop you off or pick you up at an ideal time. But they are usable. All-Star Movies Resort Bus Stop But the biggest perk here is that — generally speaking — Good Neighbor Hotels will simply cost you less than Disney hotels while still providing a comfortable bed, a decent breakfast, early theme park access, and a place to call your home base during a long Disney vacation. So, should you skip Disney hotels? Not always. Disney hotels still have the better perks overall (like Extended Evening Hours and free Park parking), and the theming is top-notch. But if you’re okay with having some of the perks for a cheaper rate that boosts your loyalty programs, then Good Neighbor Hotels suddenly look awfully tempting. ©Homewood Suites by Hilton Orlando We’re constantly staying on and off-site to provide you with the best tips to help you have the best Disney World vacation yet! Somehow, we’re already almost to the end of January (could time slow down, please?), and a new month in Disney World almost always means there are NEW changes on the way. Prime Rib Sliders The month of February is no different. In fact, there are some truly MASSIVE changes happening this upcoming month, including the permanent closure of an entire land. If you’re heading to Disney World next month, these are the big changes you need to know about! DinoLand, U.S.A. Closure On February 2nd, guests will be able to experience their final day in DinoLand, U.S.A., before it closes fully to make way for Animal Kingdom’s new Tropical Americas land. The remainder of the land has already closed, and construction on the new land is well underway, but by February 2nd, DINOSAUR, The Dino Institute Shop, Restaurantosaurus, and Restaurantosaurus Lounge will all be closed for good. DINOSAUR We’re definitely going to miss this land, but we’re grateful we got a whole extra year with Dinosaur! Based on the concept art we’ve seen for the new land, and the progress already made, we’re looking forward to the new addition, but if you want to hear Dr. Seeker panic that you’re not going to make it back from the Cretaceous period in time, you’ve only got a few more weeks! Learn all about The Tropical Americas: Pueblo Esperanza here! Crew’s Cup Lounge Closure Over at Disney’s Yacht Club, Crew’s Cup Lounge will be closing for refurbishment on February 23rd! This spot will be closed for quite a while, though, as it won’t reopen until May 2026. Prime Rib Sliders at Crew’s Cup Lounge The Prime Rib Sliders are some of our favorite options here, so if you know you’ll miss them, we recommend heading over there ASAP to snag them before you’ll have to go a few months without them! It has also been confirmed that Yachtsman Steakhouse will close in May (likely after Crew’s Cup reopens, but we’ll have to wait and see) for a “refresh.” REVIEW: The Hidden Spot for PRIME RIB SLIDERS in Disney World Pop Century Refurbishment Great news! February 2026 is when the refurbishment at Pop Century Resort should be COMPLETE! The lobby at this hotel just recently finished its refurbishment in late 2025, but the other areas of the resort have also been getting a refresh since March 2025. Pop Century Resort The popular hotel should be totally refurbished by the end of February, which means that staying at this hotel just moved up on our list a bit — we love new rooms! This hotel also has direct access to the Disney Skyliner, which is a huge perk, especially if you plan to spend a lot of time in EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Warning: the Skyliner will be closed for a few days in January! Get A Refresh on All The Pop Century Updates Here! Festival of the Arts Will End One of our favorite EPCOT festivals will also have its final day for the year on February 23rd. EPCOT’s International Festival of the Arts is one of the most popular festivals of the year, but it’s also unfortunately one of the shortest! Figment Fantasy Cake There are SO many delicious offerings to try out at this festival, and if you’ll be in the park before it ends, we highly recommend checking it out. Don’t know where to start? Don’t worry — we’ve tried EVERYTHING at the festival to tell you what is, and isn’t, worth your money! Read ALL of our reviews from the 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts! A Disney Springs Store Could Close Disney Springs is home to tons of different shopping and dining options, and we just recently found out that one of the chains will soon be closing forever. Francesca’s will be closing its doors after 25 years of business, which means the Disney Springs location could go away at any time. Francesca’s Right now, there’s been no official announcement as to when the physical stores are set to close, but we know it’s coming. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen in February, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled and let you know as soon as we find out! Read all about the store closure here If you’re booking a trip to Disney World soon, we’ve got a hack for you! Heads up to those of you heading to Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe soon, there’s a change coming you need to know about! WELCOME to Epic Universe! Early Entry is a great perk for those staying at a Universal Orlando hotel, or Premier Annual Passholders (Preferred Annual Passholders get Early Entry only on certain days and not at Epic Universe at this time), because it allows you to get into the park early to ride some of your favorite attractions with lower waits. In Epic Universe, you can get into the park a whole HOUR early, at 9 AM, but this is your heads up that starting in February, the rides that will be open during this extra hour will CHANGE! Currently, from today through January 31st, the following rides are available during Early Entry: Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge Yoshi’s Adventure Stardust Racers Constellation Carousel Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment Curse of the Werewolf Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment However, from February 1st to 28th, 2026, the rides that will be available will change pretty drastically. The change is still so new that Universal doesn’t have exact rides listed yet, but we know that select participating attractions in the following lands will be available: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic SUPER NINTENDO WORLD How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk ©Universal This means that Stardust Racers and Constellation Carousel, both located in Celestial Park, will no longer be open, and Dark Universe’s attractions as a whole also won’t be available. While it does mean we could get more of the Nintendo rides on the list, Battle at the Ministry AND certain attractions in Isle of Berk opening early is a HUGE deal. We feel it’s a pretty good trade-off, especially since we’ve found that Celestial Park attractions are even better at night (and personally, I think Dark Universe’s are too, but that may just be me!). We know there’s so much happening at Disney World right now that you might of forgoten about a new hotel that’s in the works. Lakeshore Lodge is a Disney Vacation Club resort that’s looking more and more put-together every day. Lakeshore Lodge Located by Fort Wilderness, this resort is “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists” with nods to Pocahontas, Bambi, and more. Thanks to bioreconstruct on X, we got a new look into the construction, and we’re ready to book our resort stay now! Lakeshore Lodge is set to open in 2027 with about 900 rooms. It’s righton the water, and since it’s a Magic Kingdom Resort Area hotel, we’re expecting it to have some sort of boat transportation to the parks. ©bioreconstruct The hotel looks huge! To give you an idea of the size, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has 867 rooms, and since Lakeshore Lodge is set to have 900, it’s likely around the same size. ©bioreconstruct It also looks like there will be cabins or villas! These spaces typically have multiple rooms for larger groups and are right on the water. Gorgeous! I’m seriously getting jealous already. ©bioreconstruct Here’s a closer look. ©bioreconstruct This is a look at the dock, which basically confirms that there will be some sort of water transportation to help connect the resort to other areas. We’re kinda obsessed with Disney transportation, so it’s no surprise this is something that stands out to us. ©bioreconstruct You know what else we’re obsessed with? Pools! We love hotel pools, and it looks like Lakeshore Lodge will have a lazy river, which is probably one of our favorite places to hang out. We also say you should try to spend some time around your resort so you can take advantage of its restaurants and pools. Disney hasn’t given us any idea as to what food is coming, but you can be sure that Disney Food Blog will be ready to try it all. ©bioreconstruct Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? It’s no secret that planning a trip to Disney World can be…a LOT. There’s a lot to consider: travel dates, hotel reservations, ticket tiers and – of course – packing. Sometimes, it can feel like the planning never ends. That’s why we’re here to help. Standard room at Disney’s Pop Century Resort So let’s talk a little about your Disney World hotel. Now, we’ve got some hacks that we can share with you that work EVERY time. We don’t gatekeep, so we’re sharing our best Disney World hotel tips and tricks with you. Need help with all that planning? Let our friends at Small World Vacations help you out. It’s completely free, and you don’t have to worry about the stress of figuring out your Disney World trip on your own. Here are our best Disney World hotel hacks. Take the First Bus Some resorts are within walking distance, so if you find yourself waiting for a bus at the end of the night after a long theme park day, just take the first bus that shows up. For example, if you’re staying at All-Star Movies Resort, just take the first All-Star bus that shows up and walk the rest of the way. Or if you’re staying at Port Orleans — Riverside Resort and the first bus to show up is for Port Orleans — French Quarter, just take that bus and walk. Disney bus line This works out great for the hotels in the EPCOT area, too, because Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, Yacht Club Resort, and Beach Club Resort are all within walking distance of each other. We know, we know, you might not want to do extra walking, but you might get back to your room faster that way. 4 Rookie MISTAKES People Make Using Disney World Transportation Book with a Travel Agent Want to know how to get the BEST deal on a Disney World trip? Book with a travel agent, like with our friends over at Small World Vacations. It’s 100% free, and your travel agent will take a lot of the stress out of planning PLUS they’ll be knowledgeable on any discounts or deals that can help save you money. Cinderella Castle Even better? If you book your Disney World trip with a travel agent and a better deal comes along, your travel agent will rebook your trip for you at THAT price, and you’ll end up getting some of your original $$$ back! How’s that for NICE? Should I Use a Travel Agent for My Disney Trip or Disney Cruise in 2025? Room Requests Okay, so this isn’t something we can guarantee that will work every time, but it’s worked for us often. You can make a room request from your hotel (as long as it’s within reason — don’t be thinking you’ll get a concierge room if you’ve only booked a standard room), and Disney will do its best to honor your request. Don’t be afraid to make room requests Our best example of this is if you’ve booked a standard room at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. You can request a partial savannah view room, and you may end up with a room that partially overlooks the savannah, although actual savannah rooms cost more to book. Although you can make some room requests via My Disney Experience, others may require you to contact the hotel directly before your check-in date. So we hope that gives you some ideas for your next Disney World trip. Stay tuned to DFB for all things Disney! Character dining has long been one of the defining aspects of a Walt Disney World vacation, from the iconic meal with Chef Mickey’s in the Contemporary’s Grand Canyon Concourse to the art-themed meal at Topolino’s on top of the Riviera Resort. If you’re planning on a character meal for your next trip, there are some hacks to keep in mind. Goofy! Whether you’re looking to have a meal with a specific character, OR angling to get the most “bang for your buck” out of a character meal, these are the best habits to adopt for Disney character meals. Remember that Characters Can Vary, Depending On The Restaurant Not every single character dining experience features Mickey Mouse. Or Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald, or Pluto, for that matter. In fact, the only Character Dining Experience that features EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of the Fab Five is Chef Mickey’s inside the Contemporary Resort. (Sometimes even Daisy shows up to join in on the fun, too — making it the sensational six!) So if there’s a certain character that you want to see during your meal, be sure to study up on who’s gonna be showing up where ahead of time. Chef Mickey! Along the same lines, not every character dining experience revolves solely around Mickey and the gang. For example, the Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom features Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet. Hi, Pooh Bear! When you book a princess-specific character dining experience — like Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom or Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in EPCOT — no princess is 100% guaranteed to show up (besides Cinderella at her castle, of course). Meet Cinderella while dining on fairytale-inspired fare. Keep in Mind that Some Character Meals ONLY Take Place During Breakfast Some restaurants that offer character breakfast — including Cape May Cafe at Beach Club Resort, ‘Ohana at Polynesian Village Resort, and Topolino’s Terrace at Riviera Resort — don’t offer character-based lunch or dinner experiences. Lilo is so much fun! Remember that Some Meals Are More About The Experience Rather Than The Food Character dining is a WHOLE lot of fun, but the truth is that the food doesn’t always match the overall atmosphere, especially at buffets like Chef Mickey’s and Hollywood and Vine at Hollywood Studios. While these buffets have improved over the years, if you’re looking for a very UNIQUE spread of offerings, these aren’t necessarily the places to go to, unless you want that fun character interaction and you’re not super picky about the endless foods that you’re gonna be able to pick up off the buffet line. Chef Mickey’s Buffet It’s also important to note that both Chef Mickey’s AND Hollywood and Vine can get a little loud and rowdy, since you’re gonna be in a restaurant with a WHOLE lot of excited kiddos and, over at Chef Mickey’s specifically, kids might also be asked to partake in napkin twirling competitions or conga lines around the restaurants or some other high-energy entertainment that’ll have your kids buzzing. Minnie’s Summertime Dine at Hollywood & Vine If you’re looking to have an iconic Disney World character breakfast or dinner experience on your next trip, make sure to put these hacks to use. Disney Springs is one of those places at Disney World that’s always changing. New stores will open, like the brand-new second location for Gideon’s Bakehouse called Six Ravens, and places will close, like Sprinkles, the cupcake shop with the iconic cupcake ATM. It looks like we might be adding another closure to our list! Francesca’s According to People, Francesca’s will be closing its doors after 25 years of business. Since Disney Springs has a Francesca’s location, does this mean it’s closing down? Here’s what we know. Francesca’s is a women’s clothing boutique and confirmed with Women’s Wear Daily, that they are currently “liquidating our inventory and closing soon.” If you go to the website, they’re hosting a warehouse sale, which makes this a great time to grab some items onsale. Disney Springs! The company has not shared when its brick-and-mortar stores will close, but in December 2020, it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with plans to sell the business after its stores struggled following the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney Springs When they announced that they filed for bankruptcy, 558 of its 700 stores would remain open as the company attempted “to renegotiate a number of leases during the process, which may include closing additional boutiques.” Lime Garage at Disney Springs Usually, Disney Springs is not immune to nationwide closures. We recently saw this with Sprinkles, which announced that the whole company would be shutting down, and that included the Disney Springs locations, which closed the same day as the rest of the locations. Sprinkles Cupcakes is closed While there are many Disney-owned restaurants and stores within Disney Springs, there are lots of third-party-owned locations that run with their own corporate standards. Currently, there is no closing message on the Disney Springs website, and it lists current hours until the end of March. We’ll be looking for more updates, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more. We’re in the parks every day looking for new updates so you’re prepared for your upcoming Disney World trip, so stay tuned! Listen — we LOVE when rides get a much needed refurbishment. Whether it’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad getting an updated track and new rainbow caverns, or Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin getting a new scene, ride vehicles, blasters, and targets, we love it when our favorite rides get a little bit more love so we can enjoy them for years to come. Frozen Ever After What we don’t like is when our favorite rides have to CLOSE for these refurbishments to happen. It’s a necessary eveil but it doesn’t mean we love when we show up to the parks and we can’t hop in. EPCOT is updating a beloved attraction, but that means a closure is coming our way. Frozen Ever After will be closing on January 26th to add updates to the Audio-Animatronics figures. It’s set to reopen in February. Frozen Ever After animatronics (EPCOT) If you haven’t heard of this change coming, Disney is changing the animatronics of all of our favorite Frozen friends, which will become “more true-to-film” and have new faces, similar to the ones in Hong Kong Disneyland. Say goodbye to the projected faces because they’re changing to look more realistic! Hong Kong Disneyland Animatronics For this change, Frozen Ever After will be closed for some time so they can make the changes. What else can you do in EPCOT during this change? Don’t worry — there’s still so much to do. Anna and Elsa will still be meeting at Royal Sommerhus in the Norway Pavilion, so you can get your Frozen fix. Hello, Elsa! Frozen Ever After doesn’t have a height requirement, and there are a few other attractions in EPCOT that the whole family will be able to ride, like Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros… Gran Fiesta Tour: The Three Caballeros …Living with the Land… Living with the Land …Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure… Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Queue …Spaceship Earth… Spaceship Earth …The Seas with Nemo & Friends… The Seas with Nemo and Friends …and Journey Into Imagination with Figment. You can also pop into any of the shows with the family to enjoy some time sitting inside. Journey Into Imagination with Figment The EPCOT Festival of the Arts is also running until February 23rd. This event turns all of EPCOT into an artistic wonderland with chalk art, painting, and drawing activities, and tons of beautiful food that you won’t want to miss. Here at DFB, we reviewed the entire festival, and you can find our favorites here! It’s not always fun to get to Disney World and find out that your favorite ride, restaurant, or even pool is closed, but it happens. More often than not, though, at least we have some kind of notice when these temporary closures happen. Typhoon Lagoon The Disney World calendar keeps up with a lot of these closures, plus you’ll find messages on the website about them, too. However, just in case you miss any, we try to make sure you keep them in mind, as well. With that being said, we’ve got a Disney World water park closure to remind you about. Typhoon Lagoon will close on February 15th, 2026, so if you want to have some fun at that water park, you’ll want to make sure you get there by February 14th (yep, Valentine’s Day!). However, this is just a temporary closure, and it happens often. This is when Disney does maintenance and basic refurbishment to make sure that everything is up to par when it reopens later in the year. Typhoon Lagoon During that time, it seems that one of Typhoon Lagoon’s big attractions, Humunga Kowabunga, will also be getting some updating. Disney filed a permit for construction on the attraction, so we’re expecting some needed maintenance or updates to happen. Humunga Cowabunga If you still want to get some water park fun in, though, Blizzard Beach will be reopening on February 15th, after being closed for refurbishment for some time. After that, you’ll have to trade the shipwrecked island theme of Typhoon Lagoon for the snowy, wintry resort of Blizzard Beach if you want to spend some time at a Disney World water park. Blizzard Beach From May 26th through September 8th, you’ll be able to visit Blizzard Beach for free on your arrival day if you’re staying at a Disney World Hotel. This could be a good perk to take advantage of during those warmer summer months. We’ll keep an eye out for more closures in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB to keep updated. We sure have eaten a LOT of food in Disney World this week, although, granted, a lot of that new food was at the EPCOT Festival of the Arts. But, hey, someone’s gotta’ do it, right? Main Street Confectionery has new treats! Well, EPCOT wasn’t the only Disney World theme park to get new food this week. We also had a new cake slice from The Bake Shop, three new savory waffles in Disney Springs, and a ginormous crepe. But that’s not all, we also noticed some new treats at Main Street Confectionery in Magic Kingdom, and well, we tried them all. Now, we’ve got some thoughts to share with you. The first new treat is the Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookie Pie with M&M’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Candies for $7.79. It also has peanut butter frosting and strawberry jelly. So the idea here is to really tap into those nostalgic childhood vibes, and we think Disney was successful in doing just that. The texture is exactly like a thick peanut butter cookie, and there are even additional peanut butter chips in it, which we loved. Then you’ve got those peanut butter M&Ms, so this is for everyone who loves peanut butter. Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookie Pie But there’s also jelly, just like your favorite PB&J sandwich as a kid. The jelly is tasty and pretty much like that standard Smuckers jelly we loved as kids, on top of peanut butter and slapped between two slices of bread. Kids will love this, but it’s also for those adults who are feeling nostalgic. Inside Next up is the Brownie Pie with M&Ms milk chocolate, M&Ms caramel, and M&Ms peanut butter candies for $7.79. It also has a milk chocolate drizzle on top. This is for the hardcore brownie lovers. It’s got a lovely fudgy texture and flavor, but then you get little pockets of all those different M&M flavors, which complement the brownie well. Brownie Pie Is this the best brownie you’ve ever had? No. Is it unique? Also, no. But if you’re in Magic Kingdom and want a solidly good chocolate brownie snack, this is one of the better options. It’s like a solidly good brownie Finally, we have to talk about the Mickey Strawberry Cookie Sandwich with SKITTLES POP’d Original Freeze Dried Candy for $7.99. First, why is Disney putting freeze-dried Skittles on EVERYTHING right now? This is seriously a weird trend, although we get that kids LOVE it. But let’s talk about the snack as a whole. The sugar cookies were firm and not crumbly, which kinda made them hard to bite into. So this is already testing our patience in just trying to eat it. Mickey Strawberry Cookie Sandwich But then the flavor of the filling hits, and although we LOVE strawberry, this did not taste like strawberry. It tasted like it had an artificial bubble gum flavor. Even the Skittles couldn’t save that awful filling. But then again, maybe this is one for the kids, what with the bubble gum flavor and the Skittles. Who knows? But it certainly wasn’t for us. That filling is a nope We guess two out of three ain’t bad, and we’ll be back soon with even MORE new food reviews from Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
