  3. Listen up, all you self-proclaimed Disney movie buffs! We’re calling you down to the red carpet! Cinderella Castle That’s right! We’re putting your Disney+ membership and movie knowledge to the ultimate test to see if you REALLY know your stuff! Sure, we’ve all watched Cinderella about a bibbidi bobbidi BILLION times (and it just keeps getting BETTER!), but what about some of Disney’s older or lesser-known stuff? Let’s see how deep in Disney’s archives you’ve delved! You’ve Probably Seen: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) Snow White is a total classic, so of course, there’s no way you haven’t been charmed by the stunningly beautiful princess and her seven little roommates! Snow White Perhaps you’ve even attended Storybook Dining in Disney World, gone for a spin on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom, or been frightened through the forest by her scary adventures in Disneyland (or remember when it was in Disney World!). But Have You Seen: Steamboat Willie (1928) But while Snow White might be Disney’s first full-length animated film, Steamboat Willie is the first time we ever get the chance to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse! Steamboat Willie and Minnie Balloon Popcorn Buckets The 8-minute clip can hardly be called a movie, but it’s practically required viewing for every Disney fan! Click here to learn more about the Steamboat Mickey and Minnie Popcorn Buckets at Disney World! You’ve Probably Seen: Dumbo (1941) You’ve most likely taken flight with this flying pachyderm at his Storybook Circus or Disneyland digs. Dumbo is most certainly a Disney icon! Dumbo the Flying Elephant In fact, we can’t wait to soar in the clouds with Dumbo the Flying Elephant at as soon as the parks reopen! But Have You Seen: The Reluctant Dragon (1941) Unfortunately, The Reluctant Dragon wasn’t as big of a hit when Disney released it a few months before Dumbo came out in theaters. ©Disney The Reluctant Dragon The Reluctant Dragon was sadly overshadowed by the magnificent Dumbo, but we think this understated film is still worth a screening! You’ve Probably Seen: Fantasia (1940) Okay, so maybe you haven’t been able to sit still long enough to watch all of Fantasia in its entirety, but we think you definitely know who Sorcerer Mickey is (and hopefully you know this version of Mickey originated in Fantasia!). Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival And if you haven’t gotten the full 2-hour, 6-minute Fantasia experience yet, cancel any plans you have for this weekend (it’s really good, we promise!). But Have You Seen: Three Caballeros (1944) or Melody Time (1948) While Fantasia’s animated sequences are based largely around classical music, Three Caballeros and Melody Time draw their inspiration from upbeat lyrical songs! Gran Fiesta Tour Plus we just love watching stuff from this time period of Disney animation! You’ve Probably Seen: Sleeping Beauty (1959) Sleeping Beauty is no sleeper hit with Disney lovers! Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle pays a sweet tribute to this timeless classic! Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle Disney World also reps for this oldie-but-goodie film with its fire-breathing Maleficent parade float! But Have You Seen: The Sword in the Stone (1963) or The Black Cauldron (1985) The Sword and the Stone and The Black Caudron are similar-ish but far less well known! Sword in the Stone Float But maybe all of that will change now that Sword and the Stone just got ITS OWN float in Disneyland’s new daytime parade, Magic Happens! And Merlin is TOPS on this one, y’all! Wait until you see his moves! Click here to read more about Disneyland’s new daytime parade, Magic Happens! You’ve Probably Seen: Mary Poppins (1964) Oh it’s a jolly ‘oliday with Mary…Mary makes your ‘eart so light! Mary Poppins and Bert Celebrate! Even Mary Poppins Returns which came out in 2018 was a delight! But Have You Seen: Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) A few years later, Disney tried to recreate its success with Bedknobs and Broomsticks, but the part live-action part-animated movie just didn’t capture everyone’s attention like Mary Poppins did originally! ©Disney Bedknobs and Broomsticks It’s such a shame because as much as we love Julie Andrew’s performance, Angela Landsbury is THE QUEEN! Treguna mekoides trecorum satis dee, y’all! You’ve Probably Seen: The Little Mermaid (1989) And what kind of a Disney fan would you be if you didn’t know all the words to Under the Sea? Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Hollywood Studios This was, after all, the Frozen of the 1980s and we all wanted “to flip our fins” just like Ariel anytime there was a pool nearby! But Have You Seen: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) 1989 was synonymous with another movie for us 80s Babies: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! There was once even a play area at Hollywood Studios featuring a giant Oreo cookie you could crawl around in and a mega-sized piece of Kodak film you could slide down! (Film, for you young’uns, is how we took pictures pre-cell phones! ) ©Disney Honey, I Shrunk the Kids And while the 1992 sequel Honey, I Blew Up the Kid wasn’t AS awesome, Rick Moranis still holds the key to our hearts. We hear there’s even a reboot in the making with him in it! You’ve Probably Seen: Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Aladdin (1992) The early 1990s were known as the Renaissance of Disney animated movies! Beauty and the Beast debuted followed a year later by Aladdin! Aladdin Cupcake But with this kind of rapid succession, some lesser-known films might have slipped through the cracks! But Have You Seen: The Rescuers Down Under (1990) or DuckTales: The Movie (1990) In fact, Disney released a sequel to its 1977 movie, The Rescuers, with The Rescuers Down Under! ©Disney The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under Disney also released a full-length cartoon feature called DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp in 1990 based on the original animated series! Now that DuckTales has been reimagined and a new DuckTales World Showcase Adventure is coming to Epcot, we highly recommend brushing up on your Duckberg history! ©Disney How did you do? Have you seen ALL of these movies? If so, our hats are off to you! You’re officially a true Disney fan! If not, you know what you need to do now — fire up the old Disney+ and get watchin’! 4. Today’s a VERY special day, friends! Hollywood Studios Grab your party hats (or ears) because it’s Hollywood Studios’ 31st anniversary! And, while we are celebrating by taking you on a virtual walk through the park, now you can get a sneak peek inside Hollywood Studios today during its birthday! Even though we can’t say “happy birthday” to Hollywood Studios in person, Walt Disney World Resort’s President Josh D’Amaro is adding a little magic to the special day. ©Josh D’Amaro Although the music has been off in the parks as they’ve been closed, today called for some extra fun! In honor of Hollywood Studios’ birthday, Josh went inside the park to play that 1920’s music over the speakers that we know and love. And, we totally miss walking down Sunset Boulevard even more now!! Maybe you can even bake up a cake to celebrate at home? Take a look at some Hollywood Studios throwback rides here! 6. The four main theme parks usually get all of the love in Disney World, but we’ve just GOT to show some love to the Disney water parks! Enjoy a day at Blizzard Beach! Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are the two MASSIVE water parks in Disney World and they both have a lot of things that make them pretty darn great. Still, one water park might be better than the other for YOUR family. So, we’re pitting Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon against each other for the ultimate smackdown! Which one is worth YOUR water park day? If You’re Traveling with Kids… If you’re spending your Disney vacay with kids, you’ll want to make sure they can enjoy the attractions! Of course, both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach have GREAT options for young guests, but one is better than the other. Our pick for traveling with kids? Blizzard Beach! ©Disney The great thing about Blizzard Beach — there’s fun for all ages! Your littlest will love hanging out at Tike’s Peak where they can play in the “snow” sculpture wading pool, slide down junior slides, and even have a blast on a junior inner tube ride. ©Disney Now, Typhoon Lagoon has a similar area for little kids, but what REALLY sets Blizzard Beach apart is the Ski Patrol Training Camp. This interactive area is suited for little kids and big kids. They can test their balance on the thin-ice training course or even drop in on the “T-bar” zip line. This cool “camp” tips the scale in favor of Blizzard Beach if you’re traveling with kiddos! Check out our tour of the quick service eats at Blizzard Beach! If You’re a Thrill-Seeker… You might be looking for the biggest, baddest water slide in the parks. Typhoon Lagoon has some really good ones, but we have to give the nod to Blizzard Beach when it comes to thrills! ©Disney The creme-de-la-creme of Blizzard Beach is Summit Plummet — a 360-foot long, 12-story high water slide with a near-vertical drop! If Summit Plummet sounds like a little much to start out with, you can head to the slightly less intense Slush Gusher or one of the three Runoff Rapids slides. But either way, for thrills, we say head to Blizzard Beach! Check out all the photo ops, merch, and amenities that Blizzard Beach has to offer! If You’re Looking to Relax… On the other hand, maybe you want to go to a water park to relax after a few hectic days of rushing around the parks. Well, if you want to chill out, Typhoon Lagoon is the place to be! Crush ‘n’ Gusher Typhoon Lagoon offers more raft rides, which we find to be a little more relaxing than zipping down near-vertical slides on our backs. Pick any of the “Falls” slides — Gangplank Falls, Keelhaul Falls, or Mayday Falls — for a ride that has a good mix of chill and thrill. Typhoon Lagoon Typhoon Lagoon also has a stellar lazy river named Castaway Creek that runs through the park. Hop on an inner tube and float your cares away! Castaway Creek On top of all of that, we think the theming at Typhoon Lagoon is super relaxing! The classic beach feel at this water park puts us in the perfect mood to lay out and catch some rays with our toes in the white sand! Check out the awesome eats at Typhoon Lagoon! If You Love The Beach… Speaking of that massive wave pool, here’s another category we’ll give to Typhoon Lagoon! If you love water sports, you’ll want to beeline for the storm-logged lagoon instead of the snowy slopes! Why? Because you can actually LEARN TO SURF at Typhoon Lagoon. You can take lessons on select mornings from actual pros for $199 per person with a light breakfast and photos included! ©Disney Even if you don’t splurge on a surfing lesson, you can still get some exercise at Typhoon Lagoon in the largest wave pool in North America! Yup, the Surf Pool can create six-foot swells so get ready to body surf! Hang ten! Here are 36 things we bet you didn’t know you could do in Disney World! If You Prefer to Stay Out of the Sun… If you’ve got sensitive skin or just prefer to stay out of the sun as much as possible, Blizzard Beach is the better option. Both parks have a lot of shady nooks, but in general, you’ll find more coverage at the Blizzard Beach! Shady Tables at Lottawatta Lodge Just a tip though, the tops of the slides at Blizzard Beach have NO shade so if you’re planning on limiting your sun exposure, it’s probably best to stick to the lower levels of the park or pack some powerful sunscreen! Here are some ideas for those non-park days in Disney World! If You’re Looking For Good Food… When you think of good eats, Disney water parks might not be the first place that comes to mind. But both parks actually have some pretty great options! For instance, if you’ve got a hankering for Mini Donuts, head to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon (both parks have an actual stand dedicated to these unique options!). These donuts are not your typical donuts you’ll find around Disney World — these are served by the half dozen with a variety of amazing dipping sauces. You wouldn’t think you’d want to head to a water park for donuts, but once you try them, you’ll understand! Amazing Mini Donuts in Typhoon Lagoon But as much as we looooove a mini-donut dunk in either park, Typhoon Lagoon is going to take the win on this one. You can head to Leaning Palms for a Jerked Chicken Rice Bowl or an Island Crunch Chicken Sandwich along with a variety of burger and pizza options. You can also get your Dole Whip fix here (with a floater of rum if you’re feeling extra tropical!). Dole Whip There are some yummy fish and shrimp options at Typhoon Tilly’s that fit in perfectly with the theme, AND you can also get the incredible Sand Pail! The Sand Pail The Sand Pail is a HUGE ice cream sundae that serves up to four people and is served in a real sand pail with a sand shovel spoon. You can also find this massive treat at Typhoon’s resident ice cream stand, Happy Landings. Want our full review of Typhoon Tilly’s and the Sand Pail? Click here! If You’re a Party Animal… For all our party animals out there, Typhoon Lagoon in the summertime is your pick! Why? Because you can grab a ticket to H2O Glow Nights! These fun nighttime events get you into the park after dark for all sorts of shenanigans during a glow party! Partysaurus Rex at H2O Glow Nights! You can find exclusive treats, activities, and character meet and greets as well as lots of blacklight fun in the dark! Tickets for the 2020 H2O Glow Nights are on sale now for $65 for adults and $60 for kids! Click here to learn more about this year’s H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon! So, Which Park is Better for YOUR Family? Alright, time to make the big decision! Which water park is best for YOUR Disney trip? You should go to Blizzard Beach if… You want a more unique and surprising theme. You love THRILLS. You’ve got the kids in tow. You’re looking for shady days. You should go to Typhoon Lagoon if… You want to relax! You love a good raft ride or want to learn to surf. Wave pools are your fave part of a water park. You want to eat a giant ice cream sundae or tropical-inspired eats. See, that decision wasn’t too hard, was it? But if you just can’t choose, you could always do both! Disney’s Water Park Tickets get you admission to BOTH parks on the same day for $69. That sounds like a solution to us. Click here to check out our guide to Blizzard Beach! 8. Is it just me, or have you guys been making DIY s’mores over your stovetops at home? (Best late-night snack EVER!) S’mores Pie at Regal Eagle We love snackin’ on all that chocolate and marshmallow goodness when s’mores treats come to the Disney Parks. We’re talking about the yummiest S’mores Brownies, S’mores Donuts, and even ooey-gooey S’mores Cookies! And, you’re probably going to want to pull your baking dishes ASAP after you see this next s’mores Disney Recipe! Add a little bit of magic to your weekend by baking (and toasting) the Mickey S’mores Cupcakes! But, we have to warn you that you might want more than one!! Ingredients Your favorite chocolate cake recipe 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs ½ cup butter, melted Cupcake tray and liners Marshmallow fluff Plastic bag Culinary blowtorch Small chocolate cookies or wafers ©Disney Recipe 1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F. 2. Mix your graham cracker crumbs and melted butter in a bowl until they are evenly combined. ©Disney 3. Line cupcake tray with your favorite liners (maybe some Disney ones??). Press a spoonful of the graham cracker and butter mixture to coat the entire bottom of each liner. 4. Mix together your chocolate cake batter and fill each cupcake liner 2/3 of the way full with the batter. Bake them for 14-16 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Set them aside and let them cool completely. ©Disney 5. Fill a plastic bag with marshmallow fluff and cut a corner of the bag to use for piping. Get creative and pipe a dollop of marshmallow fluff onto each cupcake. Afterward, use a blowtorch (grown-ups only!) to toast the top of the marshmallow fluffs until golden brown. If you don’t have a blow torch, you can broil the cupcakes in the oven instead for a few minutes to toast the marshmallow fluff. 6. Add some Mickey ears by placing two small chocolate cookies or wafers on the sides of each cupcake. ©Disney And, there you have it!! MICKEY S’MORES CUPCAKES FOR THE WIN! (Wow, we’re so hungry). 10. Oh Disney World. You give us SO MANY delicious snacks. How could we possibly choose a favorite? (Oh wait…I guess we already did!) Cinderella Castle But if we could only pick ONE land in the Magic Kingdom, which would reign supreme? We’re ranking them ALL right here! We’re starting at the bottom and working our way to the tippy top! Maestro — cue the drum roll, please! Main Street, U.S.A And just a fair warning: to preserve the integrity of our usually unbiased opinion when it comes to ranking stuff, some of these decisions were almost too close to call! This was like trying to choose a favorite child! But with much blood, sweat, and even the occasional tear, our team persevered even when the margin seemed impossibly narrow! With that being said, let’s get on to the mouth-watering, delicious RESULTS! 7th Place: Tomorrowland You can’t make us say anything bad about the food in Tomorrowland, but what kind of ranking would this be if we didn’t actually RANK the lands? Truth be told, we didn’t want to do it Tomorrowland (after everything you’ve done for us!), but unfortunately, last place seemed about right — oh, but it STILL weighs heavy on our collective consciences! Tomorrowland Entrance Despite being the Land of Tomorrow, the food isn’t very cutting edge or innovative. They just don’t have those you-can-only-get-that-in-Tomorrowland snacks like some other lands. You’ll see what we mean shortly. The Lunching Pad Back during Mickey’s 90th Anniversary shindig, you could find the colossal Celebration Mickey Donut at The Lunching Pad. Ah yes, those were the good ol’ days! After moving temporarily to Cheshire Cafe and Main Street Bakery, the donut completely disappeared from Disney World — and hasn’t been spotted SINCE! Mickey Celebration Donut Now the menu consists primarily of Cream Cheese Stuffed Pretzels (which we’re not complaining about), Churros, and Hot Dogs — none of it bad, but all pretty standard for Disney park fare. Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies Tomorrowland’s Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies is a good place to duck in for a quick, cold treat. Here you’ll find a variety of Floats, shakes, smoothies, and a Brownie Sundae. All are honestly pretty generic and boring by Disney World standards, but every now and then a special surprise shows up on its menu. For example, this 2319 Cone that magically appeared last year! But Character Cones like this one have a way of disappearing, despite how wildly popular they are (or how obscure their movie reference is!). 2319 Cone Auntie Gravity’s does also get a nod for its Halloween and Christmas themed treats. It’s basically just seasonally flavored soft serve used to make the same ol’ sundaes and shakes, but bonus points for the extra effort (plus the Mickey marshmallow straws for the shakes are CUTE!). 2019 Pumpkin Spice Milkshake We’ve seen flavors like pumpkin spice and candy corn at Halloween and cookie butter flavors at Christmas! Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe Come for the Chili Cheese Fries, stay for the Sonny Eclipse — he’s the alien lounge singer who performs all day long at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe — that is, when he’s not “away on one of his lengthy tours” a.k.a. — being refurbished! Even so, we’d love to see another sweet treat like this delightful cookies and cream cheesecake that appeared on the menu in 2018 for a VERY limited time in tribute to the crooner! But such delights are SO few and far between! Sonny Eclipse Dessert Remember — we’re looking at SNACKS, not full meals. If you’re looking for a full meal, you’ll find lots of decent options here, but in the “just a snack” department, it’s rather lacking. We seriously need more Sonny Eclipse Desserts in our lives. Then our ranking of Tomorrowland might look VEEERY different! Cool Ship Blast off to tasty cinnamon sugary planets with Cool Ship’s Churros! You’ll also find the occasional Mickey Pretzel and a variety of Coca-Cola products to choose from! Cool Ship Again, these goodies are…fine, but rather boring compared to stunners a short walk away in nearby lands. Other Tomorrowland Snack Spots Tomorrowland has Joffrey’s Revive where you can munch on a selection of Mini Donuts which are rotated out seasonally as well as your favorite specialty beverages including a signature S’mores Latte and Frozen Kona Mocha! Joffrey’s Revive Joffrey’s can be found all around Disney World and, while they can fulfill your need for caffeine, we don’t often find ourselves seeking it out for its snacks. (YES, we love the giant donuts, but you can find them all over Disney World!) We recommend saving those calories for something more substantial! Read more about Joffrey’s Frozen Kona Mocha here! Tomorrowland also has a Popcorn Cart to satisfy your buttery and salty tastebuds as well as a Turkey Leg Cart that’s only open for special occasions — (any occasion to eat a Jumbo Turkey Leg sounds pretty special to us, but sadly we don’t make the rules!). 6th Place: Frontierland From Tomorrowland, we’re moving onto Frontierland, which was another tough placement to make — and we’re still lying awake at night wondering if we made the right decision! Frontierland But just like Tomorrowland, Frontierland’s pioneering spirit doesn’t necessarily translate over into its eats. Most of its snacks are, once again, pretty typical and homogenous with no real Annie Oakleys amongst the crowd. Golden Oak Outpost Frontierland’s snacks tend to skew a little more savory than other lands. For instance, Golden Oak Outpost is where you’ll find Loaded Onion Rings or Waffle Fries, which are sometimes topped with Chili and Cheese. Loaded Onion Rings at Golden Oak Outpost Read our review of Golden Oak Outpost’s Loaded Onion Rings here! Don’t get us wrong, we’re not turning our noses up to plastic cheese covered, crispy fried snacks (they’re actually really tasty!), but we want MORE stuff like it in Frontierland! We’re plastic cheese-covered wagon pioneers! Westward Ho Westward Ho is the perfect spot to pick up a quick bite AND keep your spurs jangling while you enjoy it! Westward Ho That’s because most of their snacks come on a stick, like their Corn Dogs, Bacon Skewers, and Sweet and Spicy Chicken Skewers! Food on a stick is, in our experience, almost always a good thing. Plus, a thick slab of bacon? It makes for an unusual park snack, but no less tasty. Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe is a place we’d rather stop by for a full meal, buuuut we’ve been known to mobile order their Nachos or Tacos to share with our posse! Especially after we doctor them up at the complimentary fixin’s bar! Pecos Bill’s Fixins Bar! You can really go to town on all that free unlimited shredded cheese, sour cream, and salsa (if ya know what we’re sayin’!). Aside from sharing a small meal, the only true “snacks” on the menu are mini churros or chips and queso. They’re…fine, but nothing amazing. Other Frontierland Snack Spots You can also hitch your Conestoga wagon to Frontierland’s Churro and Pretzel Cart as well as their Hot Dog Cart! These spots are reliable for a quick ‘n easy bite by about mid-day when we’re visiting Magic Kingdom. Frontierland Popcorn Cart And nothing hits the spot after a Country Bear Jamboree like a big ol’ Jumbo Turkey Leg from Frontierland’s Turkey Leg Cart! We just hope Big Al doesn’t catch a whiff of it while we’re walking by! Big Al Moseying around Frontierland Seriously, Jumbo Turkey Legs are like bear bait — but their intoxicating scent might attract other humans, as well! It’s almost worth contending with large crowds to get to enjoy Aunt Polly’s! The restaurant is located on Tom Sawyer Island and rarely open. We usually see it open for business during peak summer and spring break or holiday crowds, which is a SHAME, because their menu is pretty tasty! Becky’s Buttery Biscuit BBQ Pork Sliders But when they are cookin’ they’ve got a small but mighty menu including Becky’s Buttery Biscuit Barbecued Pork Sliders and Peanut Butter Sandwiches that are served warm with either raspberry preserves or chocolate hazelnut spread and sliced banana! Aunt Polly’s also makes the best Root Beer Float! Find out more details about Aunt’s Polly’s here! Frontierland also has a candy store called Prairie Outpost & Supply where you can buy pre-packaged snacks, candy in bulk, and fresh baked goods! Prairie Outpost & Supply They also sell homemade Fudge in a variety of flavors like chocolate, peanut butter, and cookies & cream! 5th Place: Liberty Square Enough circling the wagons! It’s time to ride off into the sunset and giddy up to our next destination right next door to Frontierland — Liberty Square! Liberty Square Liberty Square’s patriotic spirit is alive and well! It has passion, it has a giant Liberty Bell, it has…EVEN MORE Jumbo Turkey Legs! And thankfully, a few more unique food items are starting to show up (FINALLY!). Turkey Leg Cart That’s right, fellow Americans! You don’t have to lay down your fife and drumsticks quite yet! Liberty Square serves up plenty of those big yummy Jumbo Turkey Legs! Jumbo Turkey Leg Hey, the turkey was almost our national bird (and would have been if Benjamin Franklin got his way!), so next time you salute the Star-Spangled Banner, we hope you’re holding THIS mega-sized drumstick! Truthfully, it’s more of a meal with how big these legs are! Columbia Harbor House Aside from its delightful Hush Puppies (which are also a favorite snack of ours!) a new treat has recently sailed in to Columbia Harbor House — the Minnie Mouse Chocolate Chip Lava Cake! Molten Cookie Goodness! It’s basically a cross between a cake with a molten chocolate center and everything you love about a half-baked chocolate chip cookie! Just like our gal pal Minnie, this one’s a real keeper and we sure hope it sticks around for a while! Read our FULL REVIEW of the Minnie Mouse Chocolate Chip Lava Cake here! Liberty Tree Tavern Speaking of all things ooey gooey, we’d be remiss not to take this opportunity to tell you about the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake at Liberty Tree Tavern! It’s piles of toffee candy pieces with loads of vanilla ice cream and a generous dousing of caramel sauce on top of a warm toffee cake! Behold: Liberty Tree Tavern’s Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake! Read our latest review of Liberty Tree Tavern HERE! Even though this is a table service restaurant and you can’t quite grab-n-go this dessert like the rest on this list, we feel its definitely worth mentioning because it’s DE-LIC-IOUS! You can get the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake for lunch or dinner — just make sure you snag an Advance Dining Reservation first; this spot books up quick! (We recommend lunch as it’s served a la carte. Just be sure to tip your server well if you’re only getting dessert.) Sleepy Hollow Refreshments With all this talk of Lava Cakes and Ooey Gooey Toffee Cakes, we can’t forget to mention Sleepy Hollow Refreshment‘s Funnel Cakes! You can get them topped with either powdered sugar or whipped cream and strawberries! Funnel Cake with Strawberries and Whipped Cream Sleepy Hollow also serves Hand-scooped Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches (sadly the Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches are now gone and not likely to return). Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich. What Dreams are Made of. This is also where you’ll find Mickey Waffles, the Fresh Fruit and Nutella Waffle Sandwiches (that’s what we call an AM snack!), and the delicious Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich (that’s what we call a PM snack!). Nutella Waffle Sandwich With Fruit Not to mention this is where you can sometimes nab a foot-long corn dog! SO many good snacks in one location! No wonder there’s always a line! Other Liberty Square Snack Spots Liberty Square Market is your one-stop shop to fill up on Fruit, Chips, Hot Dogs, frozen slushes, and yes, even Jumbo Turkey Legs! There seem to be legions of those legs in Liberty Square! No wonder it’s a favorited land by many! Liberty Square Market And on REALLY busy days, you might spot something a little out-of-character for Liberty Square! Premade Cheese Pizzas are sold to the masses from the Liberty Square Pizza Cart, but this one is pretty rare! Take a look at Liberty Square Market’s newly remodeled seating area! 4th Place: New Fantasyland and Storybook Circus Now we’re starting to really get down to the real nitty-gritty! As you can see, relative newcomers New Fantasyland and Storybook Circus are doing quite well for themselves in Magic Kingdom! Big Top Treats That’s because they offer a whimsical and more character-driven take on their food, incorporating a good amount of variety along with humor and playfulness as well! Gaston’s Tavern Perhaps nothing exemplifies our love of New Fantasyland’s snacks more than Gaston’s Tavern. The Disney villain you love to hate makes a mean Giant Cinnamon Roll (that bears a striking resemblance to the one that used to be sold at Main Street Bakery back in the day!). Gaston’s Cinnamon Roll And even though LaFou’s Brew is a non-alcoholic option, we’ll always give it “two frosty mugs up” in approval! It doesn’t get much yummier and refreshing than a frozen apple juice slushy! Maurice’s Amazing Popping Machine Just steps away from Gaston’s Tavern (and near where the lovable lug likes to greet his adoring public), you’ll find Maurice’s Amazing Popping Machine! (Though this kookie cart has been known to meander around from time to time!) Maurice’s Amazing Popping Machine Okay, so maybe this isn’t the great emporium of popcorn delights we were hoping for (they only sell butter-flavored!), but the theming is cute and we’re all for supporting Belle’s dad’s side hustle! Big Top Treats You’ll find many of the same goodies under the Storybook Circus’ Big Top Treats as you will at the Main Street Confectionery! They’ve got fresh Caramel Corn made in-house as well as Caramel Apples, Character Cupcakes, Marshmallow Wands, and MORE! Big Top Treats Bakery Case We’ve also been known to go home with a bag or two of their Pecan Chocolate Fudge and Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge! Prince Eric’s Village Market And not to be outdone by Liberty Square, Prince Eric’s Village Market has also gotten into the Turkey Leg-slingin’ biz! Although it looks like you can soon buy his drumsticks as part of a meal with CHIPS! Dream Big, Little Mermaid We’ve also found several short-lived Ariel-inspired treats at Prince Eric’s dive where he pays delicious tribute to his lady love! Other New Fantasyland and Storybook Circus Snack Spots On busy days, you might find Storybook Circus Hot Dogs open, and you can always grab a bucket of the good stuff from the Storybook Circus Popcorn Cart. Complete the snack trifecta with Storybook Circus Pretzels! 3rd Place: Main Street, U.S.A. We can’t believe we’re already down to 3rd place! And FINALLY! The time has come to express our true passion for all of Main Street, U.S.A.’s awesome snack offerings! Cinderella Castle and Main Street USA in Disney World Main Street, U.S.A. gives the Magic Kingdom’s food offerings a more balanced equilibrium! From savory to sweet, they’ve got all your treat needs covered! Casey’s Corner You’ll never strike out with Casey Corner’s Hot Dogs, some of which can be very extreme depending on which toppings you choose. We’re especially fond of their Mac and Cheese Hot Dog! And just like how we want our bases when our home team is up to bat, these puppies come fully-loaded with all sorts of unique, over-the-top toppings! Casey’s Mac and Cheese Hot Dog Check out all the cheese you can get at Casey’s Corner here! You’ll also find some over-the-top sides like the Bacon Mac and Cheese Fries, and, after a temporary change last year, Casey’s has gone back to their original Corn Dog Nuggets recipe which you can dunk in a cup o’ Plastic Cheese (what we call Disney World’s cheddar cheese sauce) for just a buck! Oh and their baseball brownie is top notch! We can’t say enough good things about this place — they’re all home runs to us! Main Street Bakery — a.k.a. Starbucks And while there are many lands to explore at Magic Kingdom, none of them besides Main Street U.S.A. have a Starbucks! The only location in the Kingdom to get your Starbs on is right there! Main Street Bakery No matter what land you’re standing in when you suddenly feel your energy start to dwindle, it’s worth the pilgrimage over to this Starbucks to get a quick pick-me-up! The Main Street, U.S.A. location has also been known to offer special treats in its bakery cases on occasion (like this ridonculous pumpkin-style coach cake in honor of Cinderella’s 70th anniversary), so always keep your eyes peeled for something new! Plaza Ice Cream Parlor It doesn’t get much more patriotic than enjoying an All American Sundae from Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Magic Kingdom’s main drag! All American Ice Cream Sundae There are many other temptations as well including Seasonal Specialty Sundaes, Mini Kitchen Sink Sundaes, and Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches to name just a few! Or just grab a scoop of your favorite ice cream! But don’t forget the chocolate Mickey ears! Read our review of the All American Sundae here! Main Street Confectionery It’s no secret that Main Street Confectionery is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth! They’ve got bakery cases aplenty brimming with fresh handmade candies, treats, cookies, and cupcakes! Main Street Confectionery Just the smell of this place is intoxicating! AHHH! Heaven! Do you think they’d let us roll out a sleeping bag and LIVE here??? They also sell lots of prepackaged sweets and snacks that you can grab on your way out of the park and enjoy back at your resort later on! Other Main Street, U.S.A. Snack Spots The Main Street, U.S.A. Popcorn Cart is fully-equipped to outfit you with any pre-firework munchies! Of course, you can just as easily get to one of your favorite snacks before the big show thanks to Magic Kingdom’s “hub and spoke” layout, so if any of these other options on our list caught your eye, consider hustling over there pre-show! 2nd Place: Fantasyland And now, we’re already down to our first runner up for the BEST LAND at Magic Kingdom — “snackidly” speaking! Small World That’s right, — we’re crowning Fantasyland is our snacky Miss Congeniality! Storybook Treats Looking for something other than vanilla and chocolate soft-serve? Storybook Treats has you covered (they have plain soft-serve here too, actually!). Currently, they have a Peter Pan Float made with Lime Dole Whip! Storybook Treats is also a hot spot for seasonal flavored soft serves (Gingerbread Sundae, anyone?!). Gingerbread Sundae Check out our review of the Christmastime Gingerbread Sundae here! Sadly, it looks like Storybook Treats has taken away the super-popular Arendelle Aqua Cone, but we’re looking forward to seeing what other unique stuff they’ll be cooking up next! The Friar’s Nook Looking for a truly magical Magic Kingdom carb fest? The Friar’s Nook’s Creamy Bacon Mac and Cheese Tots or Loaded Buffalo Tots are a seriously good time in a bowl! Creamy Bacon Mac and Cheese Tots at Friar’s Nook Although the good Friar won’t accept Disney Dining Plan snack credits for his potatoey goods, we think they’re worth shelling out the extra money for. Pinocchio Village Haus Pinocchio Village Haus is where we look for this Disney maiden in distress: the Tangled Eclair! Tangled Wall Eclair In the past, we’ve seen really fun slushes sold here for a limited time, so always keep your eyes open. You’ll also find Chocolate Gelato and a selection of Flatbread Pizzas on the menu, but none are quite as delicious as Punzie with the good hair — in dough form! Read our review of the Tangled Eclair here! Cheshire Cafe And speaking of even more doughy delights, the Cheshire Cat Tail is also hanging around Fantasyland at his namesake Cheshire Cafe! Cheshire Cat Tail It’s a flaky pastry twist served warm with melty chocolate chips and icing drizzled on top! We know that furry mischief-maker is usually up to no good, but as long as he keeps churning out this snack, he can do no wrong! You can also pick up a super photogenic Wonderland Slushy here (with a candy-coated straw!) to wash it all down. 1st Place: Adventureland You’ve probably figured out who the winner is by now since there’s only one land left: Adventureland! Adventureland We have such a love of this tropical paradise, we’re even visited in our dreams by many of its snacky delights! Aloha Isle First and foremost, Adventureland’s Aloha Isle (winner of our Quick Service Throwdown Bracket!) is the home of the sacred Pineapple Dole Whip, our readers’ favorite snack! We also love treating ourselves to the Pineapple Upside Down Cake which comes topped with a healthy dollop of ‘whip! Pineapple Upside Down Cake with Dole Whip at Aloha Isle But Pineapple Dole Whip isn’t the only contender for our affections these days! Enter the Kakamora Float made with Coconut-flavored Dole Whip! Kakamora Float Our heart skips a beat when we’re over by Aloha Isle — and it seems we’re not ALONE! To save precious time waiting for your precious Pineapple Dole Whip or other goodies, skip the line by using mobile order on your My Disney Experience app instead! It’s a faster, easier way to get that Dole Whip in your mouth without waiting in that loooong line! Sunshine Tree Terrace If you thought Aloha Isle was the only place serving up delicious stuff in Adventureland, then Sunshine Tree Terrace must have slipped your mind! Our favorite little Orange Bird’s home turf has most recently been making a signature treat with Orange-flavored Dole Whip called the I Lava You Float! I Lava You Float We also recently saw this spot serving up Strawberry Dole Whip and the oh-so-classy looking FOMOsa, which is Orange Dole Whip served in a flute with sparkling apple cider. You can also order the famous Citrus Swirl or Orange Cream soft-serve separately or as a float, if you prefer! Spring Roll Cart And it seems only fitting to end our ranking of the lands of Magic Kindgom by its snacks with one of our favorites of ALL TIME! Behold! The fried, crispy specialty spring rolls you’ll only find at Adventureland’s Spring Roll Cart! Pepperoni Pizza Spring Rolls Flavors vary and rotate quite often but so far Pepperoni Pizza and Cheeseburger Spring Rolls are amongst our favorites. We’re certainly not opposed to rollin’ with their Philly Cheesesteak, Buffalo Chicken, or Rueben Spring Rolls either! They aren’t Disney Dining Plan snack credit eligible, but they’re definitely worth throwing down the extra money for. Just make sure you get there early for the best selection! Adventureland Spring Roll Cart Other Adventureland Snack Spots Don’t forget — there’s also an Adventureland Nut Cart which serves delicious Cinnamon-Glazed Almonds like you’ll find over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! It also serves Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars and other novelties to help you cool down in a hurry! And Tortuga Tavern might not be open when you stop by, but if it is, look for some swashbuckling snacks like Jumbo Turkey Legs and even a Rum Cake! Rum Cake Wow! Is anyone else completely ravenous right now or is it just us??? We hope you’ve enjoyed this ranking of the Magic Kingdom lands by their snacks — and let us know which other Disney parks you’d like to see us rank in the comments below! 11. We’re taking some time to celebrate the “Hollywood that never was — and always will be.” Because TODAY is the 31st Anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort! Disney Studio Backlot Tour Back in the Day! Can you believe it’s been 31 years since Hollywood Studios opened as Disney-MGM Studios on May 1st, 1989? (We can’t either!!) True, 31 years is not exactly a milestone, like the park’s big party for its 30th last year. (And it’s also true that, for now, we can’t celebrate in the park itself.) Even so, we believe that — when it comes to Disney Parks — there’s ALWAYS something to celebrate. So, we hope you’ll join us on a tour complete with some of our favorite pics and videos from the park through the years as we say, “HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD!” Sunset Boulevard Mickey in Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios Chinese Theater After all, with so many new and exciting additions to Hollywood Studios in just the past year… Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance … there’s really no better time to remind ourselves just how much we love the park than now! And we’ll be bringing a few friends with us along the way! Hello from Chewbacca! Woody and Bo Peep Citizens of Hollywood When Hollywood Studios first opened, it was called Disney-MGM Studios. The park took us right back to that old Golden Age of Hollywood (ooh la la!). From back when Hollywood Studios went by a different name… (It reminds us of how things may have been right around the time Walt Disney started making a name for himself and a certain Mouse…) Steamboat Willie in Fantasmic! However, Disney switched things up in 2008 when the park changed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Hollywood Studios Those first steps onto Hollywood Boulevard truly transport you to another time. Let’s keep going! Because we’ve got some truly classic friends to see… Echo Lake Who doesn’t love saying “Hello!” to Gertie the Dinosaur every time you pass Echo Lake? Gertie!! This is especially true when ol’ Gertie gets all dolled up for Christmas. Gertie is Ready for Santa But while the original Gertie is a classic from 1914, Echo Lake delivers some big nods to newer film favorites (including one your kiddo may just love watching over, and over, and over… and, hey, so do we!). Sing along with Anna and Elsa! Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular Echo Lake also happens to be home to one of our absolute favorite places to dine in the parks: 50’s Prime Time Café! Pixar Place Have you heard of the Neighborhood Bakery on Pixar Place? Well, even if the name doesn’t ring a bell, we think this will: it’s time for a NUM NUM COOKIE! Jack Jack’s Cookie Num Nums are now in Hollywood Studios In fact, as far as cookies go, it only has one rival at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Carrot Cake Cookie at Hollywood Studios But seeing as that rival is the famous CARROT CAKE COOKIE, it’s a DOOZY!!! And now that we’ve had our fill of cookies (HA! AS IF...), it’s off to Andy’s backyard! Toy Story Land The opening of Toy Story Land in the summer of 2018 truly began to usher in Hollywood Studios as we know it today. 12. It’s hard not to get wrapped up in your Disney World vacation. There’s excitement to be explored in almost every nook and cranny of the parks, not to mention the chance to run into some of your favorite Disney characters, snack on the treats that you love, go on rides, watch parades, fireworks — the list goes on and on! Mickey Balloons But as wonderful as all this stuff can be, believe it or not, you could be inadvertently ruining the magic for others at the parks without even realizing it! We’re letting you in on some major no-nos we highly recommend you try to avoid! Most people just want to have the best time possible while vacationing and we totally get that. After all, isn’t that the point? But if everyone had a slightly better understanding of the things they’re doing that make others around them have a BAD time on their family vacations, maybe, just maybe, we could all enjoy ourselves more! Mickey Bar So in the interest of trying to be more aware of one another whenever the parks reopen, here’s a quick “how to (and not to) be a good guest” refresher. (Full disclosure — we here on the DFB team know about all of these things because at one point or another…we’ve done a few of them. Our apologies past and present.) Taking a Counter Service Table Before You Get Your Food Ever walked around a busy fast-food spot around lunchtime and felt like you were walking in circles NEVER finding a free table? You may have spotted a number of tables with one person sitting at them “holding” the table for their group while someone else is in line ordering. A lot of us are guilty of doing this — but here’s why that’s a bad idea. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe It actually makes a crowded counter service restaurant even MORE crowded. Hear us out: it could take your family member 10 to 20 minutes (or even more!) to wait in line, order the food, and bring it back to the table you’ve been holding. Fish and Chicken Combo at Columbia Harbor House Believe it or not, that’s about the same amount of time it takes many families to eat a quick meal! So by reserving the table, you’re actually taking the table away from a family who could be sitting there and eating while your group is still waiting for their food. It’s a lose-lose scenario for everyone. Seating at Sunset Ranch Market. It Can Feel Like Going Into Battle Trying to Score One of These at Lunchtime! But here’s a solution to avoid this common problem: use Mobile Order on the My Disney Experience app to choose and order your food without waiting in line. Just let the restaurant know you’ve arrived through the app and you can sit right down and enjoy your meal. No need to hold a table! Bay 1 Mobile Order And if the restaurant is busy, try not to hang around while other families are circling with their trays once you’ve finished your meal. Offer them your table so they can sit. Then you can find somewhere nearby to relax before your next FastPass instead of taking up a precious table if you still need a rest. Click here to learn alllll about the time saver known as Mobile Order! Talking During Rides and Shows If we had a nickel for every time we’ve had the Ghost Host’s speech in the Haunted Mansion or the lyrics to “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life For Me)” on Pirates of the Caribbean drowned out by Karen or Bob loudly belting out the words, we’d probably have enough money for at LEAST a Mickey Pretzel! We get it, many people are huge fans and want to show it off, but this can TOTALLY ruin the experience for guests, especially those who’ve never experienced the attraction. Sorry, Karen, He Sings it Better Than You It can be hard to contain your happiness on rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, but before you start belting out the tune, try to see things a little differently. This could be the first time and ONLY time someone riding with you will ever get to enjoy this attraction at Disney World. If you were in their shoes, wouldn’t you want to have an uninterrupted experience? It might be your 298th time on Pirates, but be respectful that’s it’s always someone’s first. If you’re planning YOUR first trip to Disney World, click here for our best advice for first-timers! Not Being Courteous with Your Devices Ever been on a ride like “it’s a small world” and had a guest in your boat taking a call on their cell phone the whole ride? We have. Ever found yourself craning your head on Pirates to try and look around the massive iPad held up in the row in front of you (taking pictures with the flash the whole time!)? We have. Ever tried to enjoy a meal at a sit-down restaurant and were forced to endure the phone at the table next to you belting out the “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” theme song on loop at full volume for a fussy toddler? We have. How We Feel When Guests are Rude With Devices The marvels of cell phones and iPads have made it SO easy to have all the info and entertainment we need right at our fingertips, even at Disney World. But the flip side is that many guests are glued to these devices or don’t know how to courteously use them. We Use Our Phones ALL the Time in Disney World! Having downtime between all the adventures you’ll be having can really be hard on little ones (and even adults!). You might need to keep your kids entertained to get them through queues or while in a restaurant (totally get that — we have littles, too!). But try to be considerate that in tight spaces like a line or a restaurant others might not want to be subjected to whatever you or your kiddo is watching. Toss a small pair of headphones in your park bag so your kiddo can watch without disturbing those around them, or at least keep the volume as low as you can! Turn the Volume Down So Other Guests Can Enjoy Their Meals And if you must use your phone during a ride or performance, either step out (if you’re in a theater and able to do so) or turn the brightness and sound level all the way down. Your fellow park guests will really appreciate it! This is Probably Not the Time or Place to Check Your Facebook Disney World doesn’t allow flash photography on its rides (they even make a point to tell you that before you board on EVERY dark ride!), but we still see it happen All. The. Time. The blinding burst of light is really distracting and — hate to break it to you flashers — those photos usually come out blurry and washed out anyways! (Yep, you know we’ve done it ourselves, sadly.) The Spirits in Here are Frightfully Sensitive to Bright Lights (So Turn Off Your Flash!) Our friendly advice is just to sit back and enjoy the experience instead of trying to capture it all on film (or at least learn how to turn the flash off on your phone. It’s not too hard.). Click here to see all the upcoming attractions and restaurants coming to Disney World Not Giving Others Around You Enough Space Disney World can get really packed, but most times it’s not impossible to give others a little extra breathing room. When you’re waiting in a queue for a ride, try giving the party in front of you a little distance, while also keeping up with them so that the line is always moving! If they can feel you breathing on them, you’re probably too close! It’s a little tricky to get the balance just right, but eventually, you’ll get the hang of it! Keep Up in Line, But Don’t Get TOO Close! Another thing to consider: be kind and try not to squeeze into someone’s spot right before a parade or fireworks begin. Many people wait hours for prime spots and slipping right in front of them before the show starts isn’t cool. If you don’t stake out a place early enough right in front of Cinderella Castle, you can usually still find a good viewing spot on Main Street, U.S.A. for the fireworks or Frontierland for the parades. Some people even prefer viewing the shows from farther back since you can see more of everything! Want to see how you can get a great view of the fireworks WITHOUT a wait? Blocking the View of People Behind You It’s easy to forget you’re wearing a big ol’ set of Minnie Ears or that huge Goofy Hat on top of your head if you’ve been walking around with it on all day, but others are seeing them A LOT, especially if their view is being obstructed by them! Goofy Hat’s are Cute But TALL! We all have a deep appreciation for Disney-themed headgear, but help the people behind you see better by removing your ears before showtime on rides, shows, AND parades and fireworks! Happily Ever After Looks Better Without Ears Blocking Your View! The same is true for guests who prefer to use iPads to capture fireworks or parents helping their kiddos score a better view by tossing them up on their shoulders at showtime. Keep in mind while YOU might be getting a great view, the people behind you might be struggling. It’s always considerate to step off to the side of the crowd if you know you’ll be blocking the view. You should still see everything ok, and others won’t be as affected. Not Being Respectful Towards Cast Members Disney World is full of some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet: Cast Members. And Cast Members play a big role in what makes the parks so special. But sometimes they might direct you to walk further towards a certain exit when your feet are killing you or they might move your stroller for you if it was parked in an undesignated area, making it hard for you to locate it right away. Be Kind to Cast Members! Whatever the case may be, don’t take your hard feelings out on Cast Members. They don’t make up any of these rules and their primary goal is to keep everyone happy and safe. Cast Members are responsible for a lot of guests’ well-being, so listen to their instructions and follow any guidance they provide. Smoking in Non-Designated Areas Smoking is no longer allowed inside the Disney World parks as of last year. No, we don’t mean you shouldn’t smoke in crowded areas and to go off somewhere more secluded — we mean it’s BANNED inside the theme parks. Period. So if you must smoke, go to a location where it IS permitted. Each park has a designated smoking area located just outside the main entrance. No Smoking Sign This rule applies to e-cigarettes and other electronic smoking devices as well. Disney World Resorts are also smoke-free but do provide designated smoking areas for guests. If you want a room with easy access to one of these locations, you can call and place a request. Click here to learn more about the new policies Disney World released last year! Taking More Than You Need Remember when Ziploc partnered with Disney to give out these free bags before boarding Splash Mountain? They help protect electronic devices from getting waterlogged! But while they’re a cool souvenir and the folks back home will get a kick out of them, don’t take more than one per person. Splash Mountain Ziploc Bags If you like having them handy for keeping autograph books dry or storing snacks for later on, do what we do and bring your own sandwich bags from home. They don’t have the cool graphic, but they still get the job done nicely! Click here to learn more about the Splash Mountain baggies! Spoiling the Fun This last slip of the mind sometimes happens since many of us don’t see Disney World through the eyes of a child anymore. This is THE Buzz Lightyear! In REAL LIFE! Remember that Disney World is full of limitless magic to children. They see meeting Mickey or their favorite characters much in the same way that many adults would envision meeting a celebrity. They’re dazzled by the chance to see REAL ghosts, aliens, and more on rides. Don’t rain on that parade. Keep to yourself any rude comments or anything that could generally demystify the magic of Disney for a child. Magic Kingdom And yep — you know that people on our team here at DFB have done some of these things in our day. Sometimes it’s hard to understand how your actions can affect others in the park. We’re not trying to preach; we’re trying to share our personal experience with you so that everyone can have the BEST. TRIP. EVER. <3 Hope this helps. Are there some things you wish others didn’t do at Disney World that didn’t make our list? Let us know in the comments below! 20. The Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force is made up of several committees that discuss opening procedures for different business models within the county. Florida-themed Orange Bird Mural in Disney Springs Today, we tuned into meetings of two of those sub-committees — the Reopening Business Work Group and the Bringing Back Tourism Work Group. Both of these committees are working hard on recommendations for the county government that will potentially help businesses, large and small, return to work. Here’s what they discussed today and how it could affect theme parks and restaurants. Both meetings featured a guest, Kelley Teague, the Director of Legislative Affairs for the Orange County Government. She led a discussion of Governor Ron DeSantis’s Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step. Plan for Florida’s Recovery. Teague explained at both meetings that local authorities can adopt more strict regulations than the executive order but not less strict. ©The Florida Channel Some committee members expressed concerns about the “vagueness” of the plan and Teague explained that more details are still being fleshed out. Regardless, the Governor commented that he expects Phase 1 (beginning May 4th) to last weeks not months. On the other hand, any progression of data showing that there is a spike in the health crisis during a phase could result in regression. They discussed that when Phase 1 does end, that’s when tourism elements will most likely begin to return to the Florida economy. Walt Disney World Both groups also discussed some measures that restaurants will need to take during Phase 1. These measures include limiting capacity to 25% and separating tables. Interestingly enough, it was mentioned that capacity limits do NOT include employees in a restaurant environment. Keri Burns from the Florida Restaurant, Hotel, and Lodging Association presented lengthy recommendations for restaurants to the Bringing Back Tourism Work Group. Many of these recommendations have been discussed in prior task force meetings. You can read about a few of the reopening guidelines for restaurants here. Restaurant Guidelines Burns explained that, like the Governor’s plan, these are minimum recommendations and individual businesses are welcome to add on to their protocols. Disney Springs during phased Resort closure Members of the Tourism Group brought up that many larger resorts, such as Disney, have retail and dining components that could potentially open in Phase 1 even though theme parks are set to remain closed through at least Phase 2. To this, Teague responded that components of a large resort should be treated individually from the whole. The groups also mentioned that the main goal for many of the committee members is to make people feel safe, including their customers. The workgroups are floating several ideas to increase consumer confidence such as a verification system that asserts when a business is following safety protocols. They also discussed making safety fun — much like we’ve seen Disney do with today’s mask sales. Cast Members Cleaning in Galaxy’s Edge Though Disney did not speak in either meeting, the company was mentioned. Jesse Martinez from Alfond Inn said that “Disney and Universal opening will open the flood gates” for other tourism businesses. A representative from Wyndham stated that “Without Disney open, we would never operate at 100% supply” for their timeshares. Tomorrow, Mayor Demings is set to make an official announcement on Orlando’s next steps. We will continue to update you as this story unfolds.
