The state of Florida has begun reopening its retail and dining businesses, and there has been some speculation over when we may see shops and restaurants open at locations like Disney Springs and Universal’s CityWalk. Universal CityWalk According to Attractions Magazine, it seems as though CityWalk, the shopping and dining district at the Universal Orlando Resort, is planning a partial reopening next week. Wait staff and employees at both the Starbucks location in CityWalk as well as Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville received notice today that all restaurants at CityWalk are planning to reopen on Monday, May 11. Universal Orlando! We have yet to hear an official announcement from Universal regarding any reopenings, nor have we heard an official announcement from any of the dining locations in City Walk. The Universal Orlando Resort has been closed since mid-March, and on April 9 it was announced that the parks, as well as CityWalk, would remain closed through at least May 31. If these locations do indeed open on May 11, it would be a notable shift from their April 9 announcement. That announcement did state that Universal will “continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed, based on guidance from health agencies and government officials.” Has your upcoming trip been affected by the closures? Let us know in the comments. In a press briefing that was issued today, California Governor Newsom announced he was almost ready to move to Phase Two of his reopening plan. Disneyland Main Entrance California has been under a stay at home order since March 19th. And while Newsom presented a four-staged approach for reopening businesses and public spaces throughout his state last Thursday, he didn’t discuss an official start date. Governor Newsom is now stating he is ready to move forward with his phased-approach on Friday, May 8th. Disneyland Main Entrance While more details and guidelines will be released on Thursday, May 7th, Governor Newsom is stating Phase 2 will include reopening retail stores such as clothing, book stores, sporting good stores, and florists (in time for Mother’s Day which falls on this Sunday, May 10th). Starbucks at Downtown Disney – closed due to Coronavirus Phase 2 will also have sub-stages, with the earliest stage of Phase 2 including some modifications such as curbside pickup for retail stores and restaurants. Then, in the LATER part of Phase 2, restaurants will reopen with indoor seating along with the possibility of some shopping malls and office buildings. Some of California’s counties will be allowed to move to Phase 2 quicker than others, but we expect to find out more information soon. We’ll continue to follow this story as it develops! Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge On this May the 4th (“May the 4th Be With You”), both Josh D’Amaro and Rebecca Campbell took to Instagram to share some words of hope and inspiration along with pictures from their visits to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on their respective coasts. Josh D’Amaro (@joshdamaro) is seen — complete with a blazing blue lightsaber — in front of the Millennium Falcon in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. ©joshdamaro on Instagram He also shared this accompanying message: “Even in the quiet of Batuu, the Force remains strong with our Cast as they keep the light burning brightly at Walt Disney World. Please take care of yourselves until we’re able to resume the adventure.” Rebecca Campbell (@rebeccacampbelldisneyland) shared this picture standing together with essential Cast Members in Disneyland park. ©rebeccacampbelldisneyland on Instagram She also shared her gratitude to the Cast Members: “The force is strong with this team. Protecting our resort… keeping the dream alive… and knowing that we will prevail. What can be more Star Wars? Disney World and the NFL lost a key figure today as legendary coach Don Shula passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 90. Coach Don Shula (AP) Shula coached 33 seasons of the NFL and had a record-breaking 347 victories accredited to his name. One of his most notable accomplishments was his leadership of the 1972 Miami Dolphins. In 1972, the Miami Dolphins finished their NFL season with a perfect 17-0 record; the only team to be undefeated and untied in the league’s history. Although 1973 wasn’t quite as “perfect” as the previous year, it was certainly good enough, as the Miami Dolphins went on to win the Super Bowl again. Shula retired from the NFL in 1995, after opening Shula’s Steak House at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort back in 1989 where it has since become an institution of fine dining at Disney World. As you can see, Shula’s Steak House’s menu is printed on a football in homage to his lengthy and successful NFL career and love of the game. Shula’s Football Decor Shula’s Steak House is also known for its generous portions which even include a 48-ounce Porterhouse. If you can finish it, your name will be placed on a plaque. Even though the menu primarily features several cuts of steak, seafood delicacies including lobster tails and crab cakes are also a Shula’s staple. Read our Shula’s Steak House review here Shula’s Steak House Our heartfelt condolences go out to Don Shula’s family, friends, employees, and fans. Related posts: SNEAK PEEK! Throughout the ongoing global health situation, we have been following the impact of sailings of the Disney Cruise Line ships in addition to the temporary closures of Disney Parks around the world. Disney Wonder As of last week, Disney Cruise Line has cancelled sailings into June and July for Disney’s fleet of four ships. These cancellations are made to promote guest and crew safety and also made in light of the CDC’s current “No Sail Order” for cruise ships. However, looking forward, we are starting to learn about other cruise lines and their plans to return to sailing in the future. For instance, Carnival Cruise Line has announced plans to resume cruising of some select sailings beginning August 1, 2020. (Carnival Cruise Line has currently extended their cancelled sailings through July.) Sunset Sailings from Florida’s Port Canaveral and PortMiami are reflected in the plans. Included among the eight ships (of Carnival’s 27) scheduled to return to sailing are the Carnival Breeze and Carnival Elation out of Port Canaveral. Additionally, Carnival Horizon, Carnival Magic and Carnival Sensation will sail from PortMiami, and the Carnival Dream, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Vista will sail from Galveston, Texas. Note that in Carnival’s announcement it also states that the “pause in operations will be extended in all other North American and Australian markets through August 31.” You can click here for more information specific to Disney Cruise Line. And to read more about the current closures as they impact the Disney Parks on land around the globe, you can click here or visit any of the links provided below. Are we still loving sweet Baby Yoda?! Oh yeah, we are. And it seems like other people are still obsessing over this sweet little creature as well. “The Child” from Disney+’s The Mandalorian ©Disney You might remember when the sweetest little green alien in the whole world made his way to Build-A-Bear Workshop last month before promptly selling out! Well now, The Child is back at Build-A-Bear in limited quantities — and there’s a lengthy wait in the new virtual waiting room for him. If you’re hoping to get your hands on this super cute toy (complete with sounds!), then you might have to wait for him. The Child plush went on sale online only at 1PM ET today and has accumulated a pretty long wait time. Build-A-Bear is using the virtual queue to contend with “extremely high demand and limited quantities.” ©Build-A-Bear Of course, we hopped right into the waiting room to see what sort of wait we’re looking at. We were a little surprised (and a little not-surprised) to find that our wait for Baby Yoda would be a whopping one-hour plus! Phew. The good news is you can have the site email you when it’s your turn! ©Build-A-Bear The Child is $59.75, so if you want him, you better hurry up and wait for him! Together with her most loyal handmaidens, Padmé must figure out how to navigate the treacherous waters of politics and forge a new identity beyond the queen’s shadow. “Padmé fought against unstoppable forces, and she never gave up on what she believed in,” says author E.K. Johnston. “Sometimes she held on too tightly, but she always knew what she stood for, and that never stops being incredible.” This tale is an empowering novel about courage and finding strength in a galaxy far, far away. It’s been over a month since the Disney Parks and Resorts have closed. But, honestly, it feels like an eternity!! ): Magic Kingdom With Disneyland and other Disney parks closed “until further notice,” it’s hard to predict when we’ll finally be walkin’ down Main Street, U.S.A.. And, if we’re gonna get real, there are a lot of questions we just don’t have answers to right now. There has been some talk about how to re-open theme parks and cruise lines and what safety precautions are going to have to be instated (just look at the new procedures Shanghai Disneyland is already taking). But while it’s still unclear when the parks will return to normal or even reopen right now, we wanted to chat about something that may brighten your spirits! Even though you might not be able to visit the Happiest Place on Earth at the moment, there are actually still ways you can see what’s happening in Disneyland and other Disney spots every day! We’re talkin’ about live stream videos and other Disney footage! Howard Johnson Mattercam The Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Anaheim is right across from Disneyland (and a great spot to consider if you’re looking for an off-site location). Since we can’t go to the parks currently, the HoJo is bringing that magic to YOU at home! This cam has been around for years, but it’s extra special to watch with the parks closed. The hotel live streams from its “Mattercam,” which sits on the top of the roof looking at Disney California Adventure and Disneyland. Pixar Pier The live stream plays 24/7 (!!!) and switches to a new angle roughly every 30 seconds so you can spot your favorite attractions and park landmarks. ©Disney Since we’ve been watching, we’ve spotted Pixar Pier, Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT!, Space Mountain, and the Matterhorn to name a few. Mission Breakout Our hearts feel so full seeing the parks, even if they’re pretty quiet and peaceful without guests right now. Check out these 50 ways to create Disney magic when you can’t make it to the parks! Disney Live Cams But, Howard Johnson isn’t the only place live-streaming the Disney Parks and Resorts. Disney Live Cams is transporting viewers all around the world to watch different Disney locations. You can watch the Golf Course on Disney’s Aulani Resort… ©Disney …or even the Nassau port, if you miss setting sail on the Disney Cruise Line! ©Disney Magic While this one might not be live, you can still travel to Disney World with the Main Street Cam! Hello from the Magic Kingdom! This is a pre-recorded “cam” synced up to play what would be happening in the park at that exact moment throughout the day, just like the day when it was filmed (yeah, we totally watched Festival of Fantasy parading through the streets earlier!). Check out our picks for the best things to watch on Disney+ if you want to feel like you’re in the parks! Other Ways to Experience Disney If you’re still missing the Disney Parks after all those streams, you can also catch the Magic Happens parade, Dapper Dans performing songs, and the Living Legends of the Haunted Mansion event from Disneyland… Coco Float in Magic Happens …on top of pre-recorded streams of the Disneyland Paris Illuminations Spectacular and Disney World’s Happily Ever After fireworks show! Happily Ever After Although we’re REALLY missing the parks, we are so happy to be able to get a little bit of the magic at home. Check out one of these live cams the next time you’re feeling homesick for your happy place! Take a peek inside an empty Disneyland here! Disney World has been dominating the poutine game recently! Beef Bourguinon Poutine at Le Cellier We take our love for poutine VERY seriously! This quintessential Canadian dish is traditionally served as a plate of french fries topped with brown gravy and cheese curds. And we love it so much that we’ve shared our very own poutine crawl, because we want to make sure you know alllllll the hot spots to score this delicious french fry dish! Today we’re sharing six more poutines we can’t stop dreaming about. Unless you’ve been living under a rock (j/k…but srsly!), you probably know that there are lots of incredible poutine options all over Disney World. While it’s been a staple at Le Cellier in Epcot’s Canada for years, over time it has popped up in even more locations, much to our delight (there’s even a kiosk in Disney Springs entirely devoted to poutine!). So, which of these poutines are we most likely to save room for? Let’s take a look! Our Top Epcot Poutines The Duck Confit Poutine From the 2019 Epcot Food and Wine Festival We’re starting our poutine tour in Epcot, where at last year’s Food and Wine Festival we could not get enough of the Duck Confit Poutine! We snagged this dish at Refreshment Port and it was suuuper rich and flavorful! We loved it so much, in fact, that it earned a well-deserved spot on our 2019 Best of the Fest list! Duck Confit Poutine It’s hard to go wrong with crisp fries covered in a thick, creamy Brie sauce! We’re not-so-secretly hoping it returns to this year’s Food & Wine Fest, but in the meantime, we can think back fondly on this tasty treat! Take a look at ALL of the other dishes that made it to our 2019 Best of the Fest! Le Cellier Signature Poutine When talking about restaurants in World Showcase, Le Cellier Steakhouse is one that often comes up as a must-do for folks, and for good reason! This classic Epcot steakhouse is nestled within the Canada Pavilion and typically has a few poutine options on the menu (after all, Canada is the birthplace of this tasty treat!). But Le Cellier has a storied past with poutine. At first, it served a more traditional option — big steak fries with cheese curds and gravy. Classic. Le Cellier Lunch Poutine But then it switched to a signature meal on the Disney Dining Plan and got all fancy! That’s when the poutine on the menu got skinny fries, Black Diamond Cheddar curds, and a red wine reduction sauce. But hey, we loved ’em both! We got room for more than one poutine in our hearts! Fancy Poutine Soon, this became Le Cellier’s “Signature Poutine” as they began adding other options to the menu — more innovative and seasonal poutines! Poutine Options at Le Cellier And eventually, the Signature Poutine became the “Annual Passholder Poutine,” — so exclusive that only Annual Passholders had it on their menus! (But don’t get caught up in that drama; you don’t need to have an Annual Pass to order it — just ask for the red wine reduction poutine.) Annual Passholder Poutine: Le Cellier Signature Poutine If you choose to partake, you’ll be blessed with a plate of fries covered in Canadian cheddar cheese, truffle, and red wine reduction that’s so good you won’t care that all your Canadian friends will disown you for calling this “poutine.” (Yeah. They might. It’s a big possibility.) They change up the poutine options on the reg here, but you really can’t go wrong with any poutine dish at Le Cellier! Check out our latest review of Le Cellier here! Beef Brisket Poutine at Refreshment Port We’re heading back to Refreshment Port at Epcot for our next poutine delight, the Beef Brisket Poutine! This basket of joy includes french fries (of course!), topped with beef brisket, beer cheese sauce (!!), poutine gravy, and crispy onions! Beef Brisket Poutine This perfect poutine for the cheese obsessed is on the regular menu at Refreshment Port, and was also available during last year’s Food and Wine Festival! There are some dishes we hope never disappear, and this is one of them! See what other Disney World dishes we recommend if you love cheese as much as we do! Our Top Disney Springs Poutines Breakfast Poutine at D-Luxe Burger D-Luxe Burger is one of our top go-to locations in Disney World for spectacular hamburgers. But did you know that this Disney Springs hot spot serves breakfast, too? AND you can actually get a Breakfast Poutine!! We couldn’t believe our eyes when we first spotted this on the menu last summer, but it quickly became a new morning fave of ours! Breakfast Poutine Order this and you’ll be treated to a warm basket of fries topped with sausage gravy, fried eggs, and Wisconsin cheese curds. It’s served daily from 8:30AM to 10:30AM. Read our full thoughts on D-Luxe’s Breakfast Poutine here! The Gobbler Poutine at The Daily Poutine Are you craving poutine, but you don’t want to shell out all that extra cash to dine at Le Cellier? Then, head over to Disney Springs and give The Daily Poutine a visit! In addition to their classic poutine, they’ve been known to serve up special seasonal dishes as well. The past two years their Gobbler Poutine was one of our holiday season standouts, which included turkey, gravy, cranberry chutney, and cheese curds on top of french fries! Holiday Turkey Poutine We’re crossing our fingers and hoping that it returns this year. In previous years it was known as the Holiday Turkey Poutine, so perhaps it will return with a different alias! Check out our review of another festive seasonal snack at The Daily Poutine! Our Top Magic Kingdom Poutine Poutine Hot Dog at Casey’s Corner Our final poutine dish we’re sharing with you today made an appearance at Casey’s Corner a couple of autumns ago. Their hot dog of the month for November 2018 was, you guessed it, a Poutine Hot Dog! What could be better than Casey’s signature hot dogs topped in delicious poutine? Poutine Hot Diggity Dog Although this was a limited-time menu item, we’re praying to the poutine gods that it returns to Magic Kingdom soon! Click here to learn more about the gone but not forgotten Poutine Hot Dog in Magic Kingdom So there you have it, a few of our favorite poutines that are worth crossing the (Disney) World for! Be sure to keep an eye out for these, and our beloved seasonal menu offerings, on your next trip. Go pou-team! Want to display your love of poutine wherever you g0? If you follow along here at DFB, you know we like to have a good time, we love food, and we LOVE Disney. Cinderella Castle and Main Street USA in Disney World We are some of the biggest Disney fans out there, but we can’t help but think there are some things that Disney fans are thinking but no one will fess up and say. But since the parks are closed and we are slowly slipping into insanity, we thought we’d get some of these thoughts out in the open. Take a deep, calming breath and say it with us: SOLIDARITY! On Disney Food… Why don’t they sell Runts or Tart n Tinys or M&Ms in those little acrylic boxes anymore? Those things were rad. Disney used to sell little clear boxes or tubes of different candies (usually with Disney characters printed on top!) that we are certain tasted better than the ones at home. Main Street Confectionery Used to Be Our FAVORITE Place to Grab These Boxes! After we chowed down all the candy in the first 10 minutes of the car ride or flight home, we would use the box to store our trinkets and remember our Disney vacay. Ahh how we miss you little boxes. This always felt like a more unique way to sell pre-packaged candy than the more blah bags sold in most gift shops now. (Anyone still have a pic of these little boxes?? Send us one!) Stop calling them verrines. Nobody knows what that means. If you try to grab a dessert at most fast-food type spots in Hollywood Studios you might notice a…unique trend. Verrines. What IS a verrine, exactly? It’s a layered dessert in a cup. It’s an individual parfait. A trifle. It might have a whipped cream, mousse, or pudding base with a variety of hunks of other stuff (like those ubiquitous crispy pearls or popping pearls) to give it some texture. It’s not hard to stumble past a verrine in Hollywood Studios if you want to try one. They seem to be EVERYWHERE! Caramel Apple Verrine There’s nothing inherently WRONG with verrines (we actually enjoy most of them!), and I’m sure they’re fast and cheap to produce and keep well. So I get it. But seriously, did anyone know what it was when they first saw it on the menu? I know that “parfait” doesn’t necessarily mean an individual serving (“verrine” does), but I bet a lot more people will know what the sam hill you’re talking about if you call them parfaits instead of verrines. No need to be grandiloquent with your theme park dessert names. They just need to taste good and be worth the money. Why did they get rid of Sweet Spells in Hollywood Studios?? Speaking of sweet treats, uhhh, what does a Disney fan have to do to get a caramel apple in Hollywood Studios? We USED to Be Able to Get This Deliciousness In Hollywood Studios Sweet Spells used to be our go-to spot for all our favorite candy, fudge, and specialty apples. But alas, it’s gone — but not forgotten. Why ya gotta do us like that Disney? Give us SOMEWHERE in Hollywood Studios to get freshly made candy and treats! We get “space food,” but why is there so much not-yummy food in Galaxy’s Edge? Okay, hear us out. We love a good Ronto Wrap, buuuut with the recent addition of the interesting breakfast options at the Milk Stand, things are getting iffy. First, they morph chicken into a rectangular log and now we’re eating green yogurt that tastes like the already questionable green milk? I Don’t Know Many Chickens Shaped Like That Most of the food leaves us a bit wanting (lookin’ at you, Happabore Sampler!) but we gotta give props for really going for it. Click here to see what we thought of Green and Blue Milk in Galaxy’s Edge! The cinnamon rolls at Gaston’s Tavern are not as good as they were at Main Street Bakery. We are still chasing the joy of diving into a Main Street Bakery Cinnamon Roll back in the day. Cinnamon Roll They have since supposedly moved to Gaston’s Tavern in Fantasyland. Both versions are big as your face and covered in warm cream cheese frosting, but we just remember the Main Street versions tasting even BETTER. Maybe it’s just that we don’t get to stare at the front of the castle while we eat it, but Gaston’s rolls seem to hit different, you know? Maybe it’s just those rose-colored glasses of our nostalgic past. Let us know what YOU think in the comments! Click here to see our comparison of the 2 cinnamon rolls! Why can’t Disney World have soup in bread bowls?! Here’s one we can’t figure out…why are we not seeing more hollowed out loaves filled with soup and mac and cheese like we do in Disneyland?? Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl — Under the Lid Disneyland has been filling up bread bowls with whatever they can find (and we’ll give them credit here — they DO have their own sourdough bread bakery IN Disney California Adventure that you can tour!), so how about we bring some of that bakery innovation over to the East Coast. You’ve done it before and you can do it again! We’re sure Columbia Harbor House would welcome it with open arms! Click here to see more of the delicious bread bowls in Disney California Adventure! Blue Curacao doesn’t need to be a cocktail staple. There. We said it. Somehow this stuff ends up in everything. The SnowTini, the Kakamora Float, the Arendelle Aqua drinks — the list goes on. We love the color blue as much as the next person, but not all of our drinks need to bear the striking hue! Kakamora Float We don’t mind it in some things, but we see this syrup popping up constantly in Disney drinks. The problem is it typically makes otherwise good drinks or snacks overly sweet. Maybe show a little restraint with dousing everything with the blue stuff? There have been Disney drinks that are blue that DON’T have curacao…made with more innovative and natural recipes. So…just a thought. Check out the food trends we would LOVE to see in the Disney parks here! We want McDonald’s back in the parks! I know we’re gonna get hate mail on this one! And again, maybe it’s just us looking back fondly on the Disney World of our youths. You know we love some Disney fries, but even with all the different toppings and options available — we can’t fight this feeling anymore. Pulled Pork Fries with Cheese at Flame Tree Barbecue McDonald’s used to have a respectable presence in the parks from 1997-2008! You could get McD’s fries at a location in each of the theme parks (you could even get Happy Meals at Restaurantosaurus!). Those crispy fries seem to hit the spot most days, but we’re pretty sure they had a little EXTRA magic sprinkled on them in the parks — we STILL crave them! Click here to see MORE surprising things you may not know about Disney food! On Disney Characters… Fancy Nancy is SUPER scary. You have to see this one to understand. Feast your eyes on: FANCY NANCY. Fancy Nancy She’s a Disney Junior character that haunts our dreams. We know from experience kids do LOVE meeting her, but for us adults she can be a little offputting. We even ate breakfast with her and she was a delight, but there’s still something about her that keeps us up at night. Click here to see more of our breakfast with Fancy Nancy in Hollywood Studios! Belle deserved a better color trend. Aurora got her Briar Rose Gold, Anna and Elsa got Arendelle Aqua, and Belle got…BROWN. Technically it was called “Belle of the Ball Bronze” buuuut, tbh, it was just brown. Belle of the Ball Minnie Ears Not a speck of yellow or red roses in sight. So we aren’t sure if Disney was loving the alliteration of Belle and Bronze or if they were looking to perfectly match her hair. If that was the case: YA NAILED IT! But truly, Belle deserved better. Click here to see more of Belle of the Ball Bronze New Goofy looks like a hobo. Don’t believe us? Case in point: Nightmare Goofy on a Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Shirt Or this: Look at this Creeper On Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Hear us out, Goofy is straight-up lovable and adorable. The OG GOOFY. This guy: Goofy at Character Spot But the version of him from the new style of Mickey shorts? Yikes. Click here to see our first look at Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! We want to meet ridiculously rare characters like the Baby Oysters from Alice in Wonderland or the Dancing Mushrooms from Fantasia! Alice, we love you, but you better believe we would be the first to line up to see some more “rare” characters. ©Disney Doesn’t anyone else want their picture taken with a Baby Oyster? Or Cogsworth? We love meeting the current characters, but there are so many more unique and rare ones we NEED the chance to meet! On Disney Technology… For how much our vacation depends on My Disney Experience, the app still has lots of issues… . We still wake up in the middle of the night with cold sweats thinking about the time we found a Flight of Passage FastPass+ that started in ten minutes…only to be snatched away into the abyss as the My Disney Experience app crashed…yet again! We Have a Love/Hate Relationship With My Disney Experience The app and website are GREAT for so many things, but they’re also riddled with problems. We’ve been well into the “enter your credit card info” stage of scoring a great dining reservation many times only to get one of the dreaded screens saying something went wrong! We back up to the reservation page and — GONE! We know the app works hard, and we APPRECIATE having it, believe us. But…sigh…it’s a struggle sometimes. The Wi-Fi in the parks is…rough. Speaking of the My Disney Experience app, ever noticed when using it in the parks you might find yourself frustratedly switching off wi-fi on your phone and relying on your precious data plan instead? Happens to us ALL THE TIME. There’s Even Unreliable Wi-Fi on Some Disney Buses Now! Disney World provides complimentary wi-fi, which is GLORIOUS; but it can definitely get jammed up. It’s slow and unreliable, and some times it just doesn’t work at all. Again, there’s likely nowhere else in the world where people are using their phones and wi-fi this much…and that location offers FREE WI-FI. It’s awesome that Disney is doing this. But we know that Disney is a true innovator…so we’re hoping they can find a way to get that wi-fi workin’ a little bit better. On Attractions… Bring back Aladdin’s Royal Caravan parade from the 90s. This thing was epic. The camels, the massive Genie, the MUSIC. ©Disney The parade at Hollywood Studios and Disneyland may seem random now, but we grew to love it. Plus, we REALLY miss having a parade at Hollywood Studios to look forward to. Or hey, how about bringing back Spectromagic or the Main Street Electrical Parade. Make our eyes BURN with lights!! Speaking of parades, we REALLY miss having a nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom. SpectroMagic Pin We had to say goodbye to the Main Street Electrical Parade AND Spectromagic in Magic Kingdom over the last few decades, and there’s still a lightbulb shaped hole in our hearts since they’ve been gone. What would it take to get Magic Kingdom one itty bitty night time parade again? Please? Pretty please?! Do people really love Avatar that much? Not to fear, Avatar fans! We are super thankful for the Valley of Mo’ara and all of the amazing things it brought to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Now we have Flight of Passage, Night Blossoms, and some really unique eats. Satu’li Kids’ Menu Cheeseburger Pods But when we first heard about Disney building the land, we thought to ourselves “Huh, I didn’t realize people loved Avatar that much… .” Yes it crushed in the box office (aaaaaaall the way back in 2009), but who would have guessed that meant a whole extra land in Disney World?! You keep putting things from movies in the parks, but when are you going to make an original ride again, Disney? You threw us a bone with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway… Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway …but Disney parks are seeing more and more attractions (like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, TRON Lightcycle Run, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure) repurposed from films. The Disney Parks wouldn’t be what they are without unique rides like the Haunted Mansion and or Pirates of the Caribbean! We would love to see more of that original Disney magic! Check out some of the Disney attractions that were never made here! On Shopping ShopDisney needs to figure out how to implement limited releases without glitches. Yo shopDisney, you know your site is gonna be overloaded with traffic when you drop limited release items. So can you please improve the site so we can throw our money at you for said items and go on our merry way? ©shopDisney We heard of several frustrated guests during the latest Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction release because they couldn’t check out, the page wouldn’t load, or it wouldn’t show out of stock until after they tried to buy something. It shouldn’t be this hard to take our money! Virtual queues may help, though! We’ll report back. Nobody needs to buy 10 of anything when released on ShopDisney or in store. Knock that off! Speaking of limited releases…please save some for the rest of us. We desperately want a set of Minnie Mouse ears too and we don’t want to buy them from someone off eBay for 10 times the price. Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction Space Mountain Ears We have almost lost limbs trying to pick up items in Disney gift shops when limited releases are dropped. We know it may just be us, but we don’t think any guest or cast member’s life is worth shoving, harassing, or snatching. Set a realistic limit on merchandise — we can’t imagine normal folks need more than one or two of anything, especially pricey limited release merch, so why cap them at ten?! We see that merch you’re cranking out in Tokyo. Let’s up the game stateside! We know that Disney isn’t the true “owner” of Tokyo Disney Resort buuuuut can your people talk to their people about hookin’ us up with some of that MERCH! Plastic displays of candy “purses” in Tokyo! They have the cutest headbands, keychains, purses, and Duffy galore! We’ve seen Oyster plush from Alice in Wonderland, adorable Fantasia plush galore, those CUTE hamburger Mickey ear plush purses, and so many other fun goodies. The stuff coming out of those parks is NEXT LEVEL merch. Hook. Us. Up. Speaking of…where is the Mickey Soap?! This may be something we can never get past. We dream of the day when we can fill every room in our houses (whether they have sinks or not!) with Mickey soap dispensers! ©Tokyo Disney Resort Tokyo Disney Resort sells the most EXTRA foam soap dispensers that pump out soap in the shape of Mickey’s iconic head. It’s downright magical. Just picture the joy on your face as you go to wash your hands and a perfect little cloud of soapy Mickey bubbles appears. Especially right now, with all the hand washing we’re doing, this would make that experience a whole lot more enjoyable! These are the #DisneyMagicMoments we live for. Check out the upcoming Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction Collection here! Thank you for embarking on this journey with us — and for being a safe space as we clear our heads. (Now, try to be nice, upstanding human beings in the comments. We’re havin’ a little fun here; y’all don’t need to take it that seriously.) Phew, we’re feelin’ better already! (But really, we still want a nighttime parade and Mickey hamburger purses, Disney! ) Did we miss any? Let us know if there are any other thoughts Disney fans have but don’t say down in the comments! As restrictions are being eased in some states in the US including restaurants and stores in most parts of Florida, some countries are extending their lockdowns. Tokyo Disneyland Mochi Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has just extended his nationwide state of emergency declaration until May 31st for every prefecture in Japan. Tokyo Disneyland Resort closed on February 29th after Japan’s Prime Minister requested all big events, gatherings, or sporting events be canceled. He later declared a state of emergency on April 7th for seven prefectures in Japan, before expanding it to the entire country on April 16th. Tea Cup Vending Machines in Tokyo Disney According to the Japan Times, Abe has now extended this order until May 31st, but is cautiously optimistic about lifting some restrictions soon. “We determined that one month will be necessary to improve the strained health care system by keeping the number of new patients low while facilitating more patients to be discharged,” Abe stated. Tokyo Disneyland Curry Popcorn Abe also said he would consider lifting the order sooner if the number of cases declined and medical resources weren’t as stretched thin as they are currently. “The coming month is one where we will aim to resolve the state of emergency and view it as a preparatory period toward the next step,” Abe said. Tokyo Disneyland Chandu Tiger Tail Currently, Tokyo Disneyland’s website still states, “the reopening of the Parks, which had been planned for April 20 or beyond, has been extended further. The reopening date will be determined in mid-May.” We’ll continue to follow this developing story and provide more details as soon as they’re released!
