Since Disney World will start to re-open this week beginning with Annual Passholder Previews, Disney Transportation will also start going back into operation. Green Monorail While Disney Buses already opened up again on June 22nd with new health and safety modifications, other transportations options will be following starting July 7th. Although the Skyliner will be opening again July 15th, the Monorails are slated to be one of the first Disney Transportation systems to welcome guests back again. Yep, Disney World’s most iconic transportation option has been spotted testing again on property while we’ve visited, and we’ve reported new alterations being made inside the cars. As a distancing protocol, barriers have been placed inside the Monorail to aid in social distancing. And, yesterday, we spotted additional measures at the Monorail loading areas at Disney’s Contemporary Resort! Monorail Barriers It looks like workers are installing more barriers in the monorail waiting and exiting areas, isolating guests from one another when they’re not able to socially distance at the recommended 6 foot guideline. Monorail Barriers These types of plexiglass “walls” are being used at many locations where distancing is difficult, and we may see them in other queue lines as well. Monorail Barriers As we go back into Disney World this week, we’ll take you with us to look at all the modifications that Disney Transportation is using during the initial re-opening of the parks. Here’s a sneak peek of the temperature screening tents coming soon to Disney World! What Disney Transportation are you looking forward to riding the most? Let us know in the comments below! Disney World restaurants have started to re-open at the Disney Resorts and Disney Springs. When the parks open up again next week, multiple quick-service and table-service locations will be available for guests to visit as well. Bitter Barkeep At this time, Advance Dining Reservations in the parks are only available to guests who have had select reservations canceled due to the closures. However, since Florida has been changing its health and safety guidelines to stay up-to-date with the unfolding situation, Disney restaurants have also had to make a few changes to follow these orders. Previously, the Florida government issued an order where bars that made 50% of their gross revenue from the sale of alcohol were forced to close. However, that order has now been amended — to the benefit of several Disney World locations. Jock Lindsey’s According to the new statement issued on July 1st, “Vendors licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, and also licensed to offer food service, may continue to operate as restaurants.” This means that the restaurants that are licensed to sell both alcohol and food are able to operate with an indoor capacity limited to 50% with social distancing measures in place. Oga’s Cantina This also affects Oga’s Cantina in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Originally slated to continue its closure when the park reopened on July 15th, this new order gives Oga’s Cantina the opportunity to welcome guests again since it sells both food and alcohol. Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar has also re-opened to everyone in Disney Springs following its previous closure after only 24 hours of business. Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar Since this is an evolving situation, we will keep you updated with more news on Disney restaurants and Florida guidelines! These were the Disney bars that are affected by the Florida alcohol ban! What Disney restaurant are you looking forward to visiting the most? Let us know in the comments below! When the Disney World parks reopen later this month, guests will need to make a reservation in order to enter. Disney’s Hollywood Studios entrance This will be managed using the new Disney Park Pass reservation system, which allows guests to select a reservation for one theme park per day. There is a set amount of availability each day for Disney Resort guests, guests with regular theme park tickets, and Annual Passholders. And given the limited ability for each group of guests, there is a chance that you might not end up with your first choice. But, if that’s the case, don’t give up — we’ve noticed that availability has popped up for dates which were previously listed as full! For example, here’s a screenshot of the July availability for Disney Resort guests as of a few days ago. When this screenshot was taken some parks had already reached capacity on July 17th. July Availability for Disney Resort Guests From Several Days Ago But, as of this morning, there is availability at all four parks for Disney Resort guests on July 17th. July Availability for Disney Resort Guests as of July 5th So, if you find yourself unable to secure a reservation for your first choice of park, be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Park Pass calendar since we’ve seen availability pop up for days that were previously full! When Disney World closed, Annual Passholders on the monthly payment plan were given the option to postpone their payments until the end of the closure. 2020 Annual Passholder Magnet On Friday, some Annual Passholder who chose to postpone payments were unexpectedly charged for all four months of the park closures at once. Disney acknowledged that this was an error, and said they were in the process of reversing the charges. And it looks like the reversals have started processing! As of this weekend, Annual Passholders have reported that they’ve seen the unexpected charges removed from their accounts. Annual Passholder Email Screenshot We reached out to Disney and a Cast Member confirmed that everyone who was charged should see the reversal processed automatically, without needing to call. We’re standing right next to Fire Rock Geyser at Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge, which means we must be getting close to our next destination! Geyser That’s right — we’re hoofing it over to see what’s new at Geyser Point Bar & Grill, so let’s go check it out! Atmosphere This stunning outdoor dining location debuted at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge back in 2017 alongside the Disney Vacation Club expansion at the resort. This open-air location serves as the resort’s main pool bar. Geyser Point It’s an idyllic spot to spend a few hours since it overlooks the water and has a wonderful outdoorsy feel to it! View from Geyser Point When we visited, the counter service window was closed, so it was strictly “order at the bar or lounge only.” Window is Closed We noticed some additional tables have been spread out near the water, but these guys don’t have any shade, so either load up on sunscreen or seek shelter at the main bar area. Geyser Point Back at the main bar, you can order your food to-go or enjoy it at one of the many tables. Tables have been moved at least 6 feet apart so that parties may socially distance while they dine. Geyser Point The seating is relaxed and comfy here with options at both casual low tables and chairs, or at the bar area. Geyser Point We could easily spend a whole afternoon out here — the vibes are that chill! Menu To access the menu, guests can scan the QR code provided. Geyser Point QR Code They are offering the same counter service menu (listed as “Rustic Fare”) at the bar as well as some Light Fare you’ll only find here… Geyser Point Online Menu …plus a healthy (i.e. impressive and unique) drink menu, of course. Drink Menu In fact, we think we’ll order up a few cocktails to go with this VIEW! Drinks and Eats First up, we’re trying the Blue Wilderness — a Geyser Point secret menu drink! (You know we gotchu on the secret menu front!) Blue Wilderness The tasty concoction is made from Zodiac black cherry vodka, pineapple juice, and lemon! Our bartender told us this is the only spot on the property where you can find Zodiac vodka (!!!). Blue curaçao gives the Blue Wilderness its signature hue! Blue Wildness (Secret Drink at Geyser Point) The flavors of cherry and pineapple paired really well in this refreshing drink! This is one where it goes down EASY with the pineapple juice masking much of the alcohol taste. Forewarning though — this one is SWEET! We also ordered up a glass of refreshing Cascadia Sangria for $15! This drink is a blend of that same Zodiac Black Cherry Vodka, lime juice, and orange juice topped with Columbia Crest H3 Merlot. While the colors looked pretty as it was served to us, our bartender recommended giving it a good stir before sipping it! Cascadia Sangria The cherry added a unique flavor and, when it was all mixed together, this was another fruity, easy-sipping drink perfect for the patio. The dry wine cuts a lot of the sweetness in the juice, so be sure to really stir this guy up! Definitely a big step up from your run of the mill Disney bar Sangria, but not quite as good as the Sangria at spots like Jaleo or Nomad Lounge. And, as is established DFB law, our cocktail hour wouldn’t be complete without some delicious Charcuterie! Luckily, Geyser Point makes a mean board for only $14! (We usually can’t pass up the epic Bison burger here, but we’d been eating all day at this point, so just needed a little sumthin’.) Hand-crafted Charcuterie Board We’ve enjoyed this same Charcuterie board in the past and it’s pretty rock solid. You get toasted sourdough slices, Prosciutto, Salami, shaved Parmesan Reggiano, arugula, mini pickles, and honey grain mustard with a jar of pâté-like Duck Rillette. Nosh or Not Stop over at Geyser Point if: You’re already chillin’ at Disney’s Wildnerness Lodge and looking to become even more one-with-nature! You love seeking out Disney World’s secret menu drinks! You’re a firm believer that food and drink taste better when enjoyed by the waterside! Pass on Geyser Point if: You won’t be making the long trek to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge any time soon — you can find suitable substitutions elsewhere You’d rather dine INSIDE where there’s plenty of AC and NO BUGS You’d prefer more variety to choose from since there are only a few entrées and snack options here! Overall With Geyser Point being mostly open-air, we barely noticed any of the modifications they’ve had to make to accommodate the new health and safety concerns, aside from fewer tables. The spot offers a few unique drinks you won’t find anywhere else at Disney and the food options, while limited, are solid for a bite while enjoying a few drinks. For us, it was a great afternoon spent in the great outdoors! We’ll continue to check out all the reopened spots in Disney World, so stay tuned! In the meantime, check out our ultimate guide to EVERYTHING that’s reopening at Disney World here! One of our favorite spots at Disney Springs reopened today! Find out more HERE! With major Disney news seeming to drop every single day lately, it’s been tough to keep up with everything that’s going on! While there are plenty of things we’ve managed to wrap our heads around, we STILL have quite a few unanswered questions. Cinderella Castle Today, let’s look at nine things we’re still unsure about when it comes to the Disney Parks. We don’t know when certain guests can book Advance Dining Reservations. Earlier this week, guests who had an active dining reservation between May 28 and September 2 that was canceled due to the Disney World’s temporary closure were able to begin booking new dining reservations 60 days in advance of their arrival — a shift from the previous 180-day advance booking window for dining. Be Our Guest Ballroom However, guests who did NOT have dining reservations canceled are still in the dark about when they will be able to make new bookings. Many of these guests have upcoming trips beginning as soon as July 11th when the parks begin to reopen, and with restaurants across Disney World property seeing a reduction in their capacity, there will most likely be fewer reservations available. Farmer Mickey While we don’t know when everyone will be eligible to book new dining reservations, we DO know what in-park restaurants will be opening! Check out ALL of the dining locations that will reopen with the parks here! BIG TIP: And for those of you who think you SHOULD be able to book your dining reservations based on Disney World’s current website language, but are still getting that “Paws” message, definitely call Disney directly. We’re hearing plenty of anecdotal evidence that people who are running into difficulty have been able to book dining reservations via the phone lines. We don’t know when Disney World will allow guests to begin making new 2020 bookings or ticket purchases. New vacation packages for 2021 went on sale on June 24. However, new bookings for 2020 are still unavailable, and Disney has yet to announce when that may change. All we know for sure is that 2020 should become available “later this summer.” Grand Floridian Resort Disney is faced with a logistical challenge in accommodating guests with existing 2020 bookings. Many hotels have yet to reopen, creating a kind of Disney hotel tetris game for guests who hold reservations. Disney will need to make sure that all guests with existing 2020 reservations are accommodated when it comes to hotels AND park entrance before they open things up for new 2020 bookings. Learn more here about why you can’t buy a 2020 ticket for Disney World right now! We don’t know when the Disneyland parks are going to reopen. A few weeks ago, Disneyland proposed a reopening date of July 17 for their theme parks. Since then, those plans have been delayed until further notice. Disneyland Main Entrance We also don’t know what Disneyland’s theme park reservation system will look like once their reopening plans are confirmed. We expect many components to closely resemble Disney World’s Park Pass Reservation System, but nothing has been confirmed. Disney California Adventure Main Entrance — Closed Disneyland’s Downtown Disney reopening, which is still currently slated for July 9 according to the Disneyland website, was thrown into question when California Governor Gavin Newsom announced the suspension of indoor operations at restaurants and certain other businesses in 19 California counties, including Orange County, where Disneyland is located. It has been reported that Downtown Disney is still planning to move ahead with its July 9 opening, but restaurants will have to stick to outdoor dining. Read more about the health and safety guidelines that will be in place at Downtown Disney here! We don’t know when the Disney Dining Plan will come back. Disney made the decision to cancel existing Dining Plans as well as to completely suspend the Disney Dining Plan for the time being. Disney has yet to say when they plan on reintroducing the Disney Dining Plan. Lapu Lapu at Disney’s Polynesian Resort Currently, you cannot add the Dining Plan to any new 2021 bookings, although it’s possible that should the Dining Plan become available again, you might be able to add it to an existing reservation. Read more about Disney’s decision to temporarily suspend the Disney Dining Plan here! We still don’t know the future of the Park Pass Reservation System. Perhaps the biggest source of confusion for guests planning their upcoming Disney World vacations has been the announcement and rollout of the new Disney Park Pass Reservation System. The system went live on June 22 for guests with existing resort reservations, then on June 26 for Disney World Annual Passholders, and finally on June 28 for all other guests with valid theme park tickets. Resort Guest Park Pass Availabilty on June 28 The system experienced some glitches on its first day, but most of those seem to have been resolved. There have also been some discrepancies regarding the amount of Park Passes one person can have at a time, especially for Annual Passholders who also have upcoming resort reservations. Walt Disney World Annual Passholder The biggest question we have moving forward is whether Disney will add availability to dates that have already filled up. At time of writing, most upcoming dates are still available for guests with resort reservations or theme park tickets, but for Annual Passholders, nearly all of July and most August weekend days have filled up. So, it will be interesting to see if more availability gets added — and for whom. Check out our guide to Disney’s new Park Pass Reservation System here! We don’t know what the Food & Wine Festival booths will be or what their menus will include. In an announcement that frankly no one saw coming, A Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will begin on July 15th, the FIRST DAY EPCOT is open! That’s right folks, we have a theme park reopening AND the first day of Food & Wine on the same day! France Booth at the 2019 Food & Wine Festival All we know so far, however, is that the festival will feature 20 “global marketplaces” and will last through the fall. At this time, we don’t know much about those marketplaces, other than that they will include Hawaii, Hops & Barley, and Islands of the Caribbean! Will all of the marketplaces be returning booths from last year, or will there be some new ones? We know there will be elements from EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival sprinkled in, so could that mean we’ll see a few of those menu items in the mix? We don’t know! Remy Topiary at Ecpot’s Flower and Garden Festival Because we don’t know what the booths will be, we have no idea what the menus look like either, and this festival starts SOON!!! Take a look at what we hope returns to the Food & Wine Festival this year! We don’t know what’s happening with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or EPCOT’s Candlelight Processional. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was canceled for 2020. This move, as unfortunate as it was, made sense, as many of the key components of the Halloween parties, including fireworks, parades, and character meet and greets, have been suspended until further notice. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom This might not bode well for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but we have yet to hear an official announcement from Disney. We also don’t know the current status of the Oogie Boogie Bash in Disneyland. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Add to that we haven’t gotten an update on the future of EPCOT’s Candlelight Processional for 2020. So far, Disney has not called back any groups or shows that focus on singing. This could have to do with the fact that, according to the New York Times, singing seems to be a risky activity given the global health crisis. Epcot’s Candlelight Processional With those things in mind, can the Candlelight Processional even happen this year? We’ll have to wait and see! Learn more here about Disney’s decision to cancel Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year! We don’t know when Park Hopping will return. Recently, Disney announced that Park Hopping, the ability to visit multiple theme parks in a single day, would be temporarily suspended. However, if you purchase a 2021 vacation package right now, you are able to add on Park Hopping. So, as of right now, Disney hasn’t ruled out bringing back Park Hopping in time for 2021 vacations. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Gate Disney has yet to make an announcement of when we may expect Park Hopping to return, if before 2021. BIG TIP: If you currently have park hopping added on to your ticket, you have the option to use the ticket later (many tickets have been extended for use into 2021), modify your package, or cancel your tickets. Wanna get a refund? Click the link below for details. Wondering if you can get a refund on your Park Hopper ticket? Here are your current options! We don’t know the opening dates of some Disney World’s Resort hotels. Last but not least, we are still in the dark on the reopening status of many of Disney World’s hotels. We know that hotels are reopening in phases, with only Disney Vacation Club resorts currently open. Beach Club We also know that some resorts, like Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, are temporarily closed to the general public to host the NBA as they conclude their season at Walt Disney World. But, some hotels don’t have reopening dates yet at all! These include Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts (French Quarter and Riverside), and Disney’s All Star Resorts (Sports, Movies, and Music). BIG TIP: If you’re staying at a Disney World resort hotel that won’t be opening by the time you’re scheduled to travel, or a resort hotel that doesn’t have an opening date yet at all, definitely get on the phone with Disney to modify your reservation. Disney has stated on their website that reservations that are not moved to an open resort hotel will be automatically canceled seven days before the scheduled arrival date. If you still want to go to Disney World — modify to an open resort ASAP. Check out all the reopening dates that we know so far for Disney World’s hotels! We know this may have given you more questions than answers when it comes to some major Disney World trip-planning components! Hopefully this gives you a better perspective as to what we are currently waiting to hear from Disney, and what you should be doing in certain circumstances (mostly — calling Disney if you have questions!). Hamilton has made its way to Disney+ (and our holiday weekend plans are to eat some pie and watch the musical on repeat). ©Disney Although July 4th is a holiday to celebrate, it’s also a great time to give back to communities who have been affected by our current situation. And, a few Disney affiliates are teaming together to provide a HUGE donation to those in need! Coca-Cola has collaborated with Hamilton‘s creator Lin-Manual Miranda and the World Central Kitchen Founder (and Jaleo‘s creator in Disney Springs) José Andrés to donate $1 million to the World Central Kitchen. ©Disney The donation will help fight food insecurity around the world, especially in communities who have been disproportionately affected by the global health crisis and social injustice. World Central Kitchen will be able to serve 100,000 meals in the United States and Mexico (and other countries in the works), help about 150 local restaurants, and rehire up to 1,400 employees. ©Disney You can read more about Coca-Cola’s donation here and watch Lin-Manuel Miranda and José Andrés talk about the World Central Kitchen below! Disney Channel stars Ava Kolker and Christian J Simon from “Sydney to the Max” teamed up with the Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team and National Geographic to learn about the animals that live at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.* Ava and Christian had the unique opportunity to get up close to some of the most incredible animals on the planet and learn how the animal care experts take care of them. These previously recorded pieces showcase Sumatran tigers, zebra longwing butterflies, giant swallowtail butterflies and prehensile-tailed porcupines. Ava and Christian worked with Dawn, an animal keeper, to prepare some food-based enrichment items for the Sumatran tigers and then delivered these to the Sumatran tigers at the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Check out the video below to find out what happens: Ava and Christian got up close to a prehensile-tailed porcupine while learning from Conservation Manager Dr. Zak and Maria, an animal keeper, about what makes these animals unique. They even met a baby porcupine, called a porcupette! Dr. Zak shared with Ava and Christian why butterflies are so important and provided the chance for them to interact with zebra longwing butterflies and giant swallowtail butterflies in the Pollination Garden near Conservation Station at Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Together we can make a positive impact by protecting the places these and other animals call home. Now that face coverings have become a part of our everyday lives and local health officials have mandated them in both Orange County, Florida, and Anaheim, California, it’s more important than ever to get CRYSTAL CLEAR on what constitutes an acceptable face covering before visiting Walt Disney World and, eventually, Disneyland. We’ve done the research and learned that not all masks are created equal — nor are all face coverings acceptable. Rainbow Mickey Face Mask We’d hate for your to go through the effort of traveling to Disney World and arriving at the park gates, hotel entrance, or Disney Springs only to find that the face covering you brought is not allowed. So we’re breaking down exactly what DOES NOT count as an acceptable face mask at Disney World right now. There’s a huge huge variety of face masks out there — different styles, sizes, materials — you name it. By now, you probably have a favorite. But, what if the face mask you’ve grown accustomed to doesn’t get the green light at Disney World? Better to find out NOW rather than when you get there! Cast Members Check out these 7 helpful tips for wearing a face mask at Disney World! When Do You Have to Wear a Mask at Disney World? Disney World is requiring guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members to wear face masks at all times with just a few exceptions. You can take off your mask when swimming or eating and drinking (either seated in a restaurant or on-the-go). DFB branded Orange Bird Mask But you should definitely approach your time at Disney World with the expectation that you’ll have your mask on the vast majority of the day when you’re not in your hotel room. In the market for a new face covering? Check out these Disney Food Blog masks here! So Which Face Coverings Aren’t Acceptable at Disney World? Disney World has detailed very specific guidelines on their website about what they consider an acceptable face covering. These two types don’t make the cut and won’t count as a face mask at Disney World. Bandanas Face masks must fit snugly around the nose and mouth to be accepted at Disney World. While most gaiters and face masks with elastic or tie-on straps will do the job nicely, bandanas have been deemed by several cast members we’ve spoken to to be too loose to provide adequate coverage. Monsters Inc. Bandanas There are ways to turn your bandanas into acceptable face masks and you don’t have to be a seamstress to do it! Learn how here! We should point out that although we’ve seen many people wearing gaiters at Disney Springs, Disney World’s website clearly states that face coverings must be “secured with ties or ear loops.” To play it safe, if you’re going to wear a gaiter, make sure you choose one with ear loops (or add ear loops to the one you like). Click here to learn more about Disney World’s proposed “relaxation zones” where guest might be allowed to briefly remove their masks inside the parks! Face Shields These plastic face coverings are becoming more common and some Cast Members are being issued them when they return to the parks. They’ve been popular with the medical community for some time since the shield acts as a protective barrier for the eyes as well as the nose and mouth. However, when worn without a mask, face shields are not an acceptable form of face covering at Disney World. ©Bauer So if you want to wear a face shield for extra protection, they’re allowed — but you have to ALSO be wearing an acceptable mask underneath it. Since Disney World is private property, they can deny any guest service if that guest does not comply with their policies. We understand it might take some extra convincing (and maybe a little bribery!) to get your 2-year-old to wear a mask at the parks all day, but we’ve got some tricks up our sleeve to help you with that! See which face masks are the most comfortable to wear during a long day at Disney World here! Disney Cloth Face Masks Because Disney World’s guidelines could change, we’ll make sure to keep you updated on what does and doesn’t count as an appropriate face covering at Disney World. If you’ve got any questions about what makes the cut, make sure you drop them in the comments below and we’ll get you some answers! Can you believe that we’re just a week away from Animal Kingdom’s official grand re-opening on July 11th! Animal Kingdom Entrance While we’re packing our trekking bags to head back into the parks, we’ve been looking at a sneak peek of Animal Kingdom’s new bag check area and temperature screening tents. And, now we have first look inside the park too! The President of the Walt Disney World Resort Jeff Vahle has released photos of what the health and safety measures look like in Disney’s Animal Kingdom (wow, we missed seeing all that greenery). ©Jeff Vahle There are distancing markers on the ground to direct guests where they are able to stand… ©Jeff Vahle …and both Cast Members and guests will be required to keep six feet apart from one another when they’re in Disney World. ©Jeff Vahle Everyone will be asked to wear face masks during their time in the parks to make sure that people are kept healthy and safe when they are in the parks. ©Jeff Vahle On top of this first (early!) look inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’ll be taking you along with us next week as we head back into the parks during Annual Passholder Previews throughout the beginning of this week. We’ve taken with you us all day to the Disney Resorts to find Fourth of July treats all over Disney World! Beach Club While we’ve stopped by Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, we’re at our last stop of the day at Disney’s Beach Club Resort! Although this treat might be last of the day, it’s definitely not least. The Red White and Blueberry Trifle is layered with berry compote, vanilla cake, shortbread crumble, cherry mousse, whipped cream, and sprinkles. Red White and Blueberry Trifle We’re gonna be honest here — looks can be deceiving. We did NOT think much of this trifle when we first saw it and almost walked right past it! Disney is a big fan of verrines (AKA trifles) and we frequently see them appearing in their home base of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While this Beach Club dessert is called a “trifle,” it’s much more similar to a verrine. But, we’re not complaining! Red White and Blueberry Trifle The Red White and Blueberry Trifle has a bit of a crunch from the shortbread crumbles, even though the rest of the treat is nice and smooth. Although a lot of the berry, cherry, and whipped cream flavors are sweet, there’s a hint of tartness from some of the lemon juice mixed into the trifle. Red White and Blueberry Trifle If you’re craving a more traditional treat, the Beach Club Resort also has a Fourth of July Cupcake and a Welcome Back Funfetti Cupcake too! However, the Welcome Back Cupcake sold out pretty quickly, so we’ll have to check back to give you a look and review. Fourth of July Cupcake While our hearts will belong to the patriotic Peanut Butter Pie that we had today (we just can’t get enough of it), we were surprised to find that the Red White and Blueberry Trifle happened to be our other favorite Fourth of July treat for only $5! It’s one of the least aggressively-sweet treats we tried. The balance of citrus, berry, and sweet flavors were refreshing compared to the other chocolate or sugary buttercream flavors we’ve had all day long. On that festive note, we wish you a Happy Fourth of July however you spend it! How are you celebrating the Fourth of July today? Let us know in the comments below! Related posts: OMG! Disney fireworks (even virtually!) and food seems like the perfect way to spend the Fourth of July today! Disney’s BoardWalk Inn We’re snacking our way around the Disney Resorts wearing our stretchy shorts (there are just so many good treats)! Although we’ve already fallen in love with SO many red, white, and blue treats like the patriotic Peanut Butter Pie and Fourth of July Cupcake, we’re back at the BoardWalk Bakery for a whole array of festive treats. Although we’re all about the red, white, and blue for the Fourth of July, after we ate our way through BoardWalk’s Fourth of July cupcake, we shifted gears to see what ELSE was on the star-spangled menu. First, we dove into the soft Strawberry Shortcake Bar at the BoardWalk Inn (pink is one of our favorite colors too) for $5.99. Strawberry Shortcake Bar The bar is layered with fluffy vanilla cake, strawberry filling, and whipped cream. If you’re looking for something light and smooth, the Strawberry Shortcake has simple and sweet flavors that combine together wonderfully. Although it’s tasty, we definitely could have used a stronger strawberry flavor. If you’re looking for a sweet treat that won’t weigh you down, this will fit the bill nicely. Strawberry Shortcake Bar But, the real winner for us was the mini American Apple Pie! The crust is similar to the Peanut Butter Pie‘s buttery crust over at the Contempo Cafe with apple filling, crumble, and a sweet drizzle on top. When you order it up, you’ll get a fresh dollop of whipped cream and sprinkles on top. American Apple Pie The inside has bits of soft apple with a kick cinnamon flavor that’s perfect for all the apple pie lovers out there! While the American Apple Pie is served cold, we actually think that it would be GREAT to take home and pop in the microwave so it’s warm like a fresh pie out of the oven. Plus, while the whipped cream was nice, we think some vanilla ice cream on top would make it the ultimate festive treat for the Fourth of July! American Apple Pie You can get the American Apple Pie for $5.99 (and maybe even learn how to bake your own full-sized version at home)! While you might be starting your Fourth of July festivities with your family and friends, the Disney Resorts have been calling us with all their holiday treats! BoardWalk Inn While we’ve already seen a patriotic cupcake trio, a firework blondie pop, and a raspberry cream cheese-filled cupcake, the BoardWalk Bakery has baked up MULTIPLE Fourth of July treats (and we’re trying them all for you)! The Fourth of July Cupcake at the BoardWalk Inn is not only adorable (just LOOK at that pinwheel!!), but it’s got two treats in one too! The chocolate cake is topped with vanilla buttercream, sprinkles, and a fondant pinwheel that even Minnie Mouse would love. But, the best part is that there is a cheesecake filling on the inside of the cupcake that makes the treat doubly sweet! Fourth of July Cupcake Although the cake is moist and there is plenty of buttercream, the cheesecake filling holds most of the weight of the cupcake. The filling adds a bit of creaminess to the treat (we could honestly eat a cup of that filling!). While we are big fans of the marshmallow creme from the Contempo Cafe’s Fourth of July Cupcake, the cheesecake has officially become our number one filling from today! Fourth of July Cupcake You can get the Fourth of July Cupcake for $5.99 at the BoardWalk Bakery, along with the rest of the festive treats being featured today (but more on those in a few minutes!). Fourth of July Treats We’ll be giving you our full review on these other Fourth of July snacks soon! Happy Fourth of July and happy snacking, everybody! The NBA will be starting its season on July 30th at Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Players and officials will be staying on property at different Disney Resorts in areas that are isolated from regular guests (but with swoon-worthy amenities). Training courts have already started to be set up inside the hotels, along with fencing down the middle of places like Disney’s Floridian Resort to separate the NBA from resort guests! Although we’ve had a sneak peek of the big blue wall that has started to form at the Grand Floridian, we got a better look at just HOW LONG and BIG this fencing is going to be. Grand Floridian Resort Construction Although the fencing at first looked like it would be in a few spaces to separate sections of the resort, the blue wall stretches across the expanse of the Grand Floridian literally splitting the property into two sections. Grand Floridian Resort Construction Since the NBA will be playing its games through the middle of October, the fencing may stay up through the Fall as well. At the moment, guests are able to stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort with previous reservations in the areas the NBA WON’T be occupying. We haven’t heard word from Disney if things might change a bit at the hotels the NBA is staying at once the teams start arriving. Grand Floridian Resort Construction These walls are BIG, y’all. They completely wipe out the view of the Magic Kingdom from the main building. We were able to JUST spot the tippy-top of the highest spire of Cinderella Castle from Gasparilla Island Grill (normally, you have a nice clear view of the castle when leaving this spot!). We’ve got to admit, it’s a bit jarring to walk out the back of the main Grand Floridian lobby and be hit with a wall of blue stopping you in your tracks! While we’ll be keeping an eye on the NBA’s plans and any official word from Disney about how the resorts will be affected, we will keep you updated on any new details! Take a look at these awesome NBA and Disney mash-ups! Do you have plans to stay in the Disney Resorts any time soon? Let us know in the comments below! Related posts: REVIEW! It’s been a cupcake crawl ALL over the Disney Resorts today for the Fourth of July! Contempo Cafe We’ve already seen a cupcake trio at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and an AMAZING treat with a raspberry cream center (!!!) at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. And, our next snack on the list is perfect for all those frosting fans out there! The Fourth of July Cupcake is making a fabulously festive appearance at the Contempo Cafe in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Although last year’s Fourth of July treat combined red velvet cake and berries, this year’s is the PERFECT choice for a dessert that your whole family will enjoy! Fourth of July Cupcake Surprise, surprise — it’s VERY red, white, and blue! The chocolate cupcake is filled with marshmallow creme and topped with red, white, and blue buttercream, along with patriotic sprinkles and fondant stars. The cake on this treat is just SO GOOD. It’s very moist, which pairs extremely well with the fluffiness of the marshmallow creme. Fourth of July Cupcake But, the main star of the Fourth of July Cupcake is all that frosting. The treat is piled high with so much buttercream (and ya’ll already know how much we love frosting). The Fourth of July Cupcake at the Contempo Cafe is a great holiday pick for the other frosting fans out there or someone who loves really cute cupcakes for $5.99! Heads up though — that potent dye might show on your teeth for a bit after, so maybe grab a water to help wash it down! Fourth of July Cupcake While we were at the bakery, we also spotted that our beloved Peanut Butter Pie has received a Fourth of July makeover too! Fourth of July Peanut Butter Pie The top of the treat is currently featuring some of the same patriotic sprinkles and red, white, and blue drizzle to go with all that peanut butter goodness for $4.79. Fourth of July Peanut Butter Pie Forget applied pie, our DFB reporter stated that there there’s nothing “as American as peanut butter pie” this Fourth of July (and we couldn’t agree more)! We LOVE this treat any day, but seeing it all dolled up for the Fourth was a nice surprise! Fourth of July Peanut Butter Pie But wait, there’s MORE! We’ve got even more red, white, and blue goodies we’re reviewing today so stay tuned! And, we can’t wait to see what other new snacks will be making their way into the parks next week too. It’s the Fourth of July, and we’ve been celebrating by having re-runs of Hamilton back to back (which is pretty patriotic, in our humble opinions!). Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Although you might not be able to go the parks to ring in the holiday with the Muppets and all our other friends in Disney World, you can still party Disney style with treats all over the Disney Resorts! While we’ll be taking you all around the hotels to try their Fourth of July treats, we’re stopping at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort (after snacking on that AMAZING cupcake at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort). Although we’ve already tried the Fourth of July Blondie Pop at the Grand Floridian, we’re snagging the star-spangled Fourth of July Cupcake(s) too! Fourth of July Cupcake Gasparilla Island Grill is featuring the new treats on Mobile Order with three mini-cupcakes made with classic chocolate cake, vanilla buttercream frosting, sprinkles, and sugar stars. While the flavors were pretty normal for a cupcake, the chocolate cake was moist and the frosting was perfectly sweet (just like we like it!!). Fourth of July Cupcake The package comes with three cupcakes so they’re super shareable between your family members and friends! Although the cupcake at Disney’s Polynesian Resort had a twist on the chocolate cake and vanilla buttercream combo, Grand Floridian’s Fourth of July cupcake is a great option for anybody who wants a straight-forward (but great) Disney cupcake! We’ve already found a few patriotic treats around Disney World! Fourth of July Cupcake We’ve been on a cupcake kick! We tried the Fourth of July cupcakes at both Capt. Cook’s and Sprinkles in Disney Springs. So now, let’s switch it up and try the Blondie Pops we spotted on the menu at Gasparilla Island Grill in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort! We think snacks are a great way to celebrate a holiday! So we swung by Gasparilla Island Grill to give the 4th of July Blondie Bomb Pops a try! 4th of July Blondie Bomb Pop One thing we noticed about the blondie right away — it’s definitely cuter in the bag! It was super melty, and as soon as we unwrapped it, the blondie started sliding down the stick! 4th of July Blondie So, is this more than just an Instagram-worthy treat? Our blondie was a little bit dry, and the icing was super sweet — but if you have a huge sweet tooth, it might be up your alley! 4th of July Blondie Also, it’s worth repeating that this was a VERY messy treat! So if you plan on grabbing on, we recommend having plenty of napkins or wet wipes handy! 4th of July Blondie Oh yeah, and make sure you get all of your pretty pics BEFORE you unwrap it! Like most holiday treats, the 4th of July Blondie probably won’t stick around for long — but you can snag this snack for $4.99 at Gasparilla Island Grill while supplies last! You can catch a virtual viewing of the Magic Kingdom fireworks show, find great deals at Disney Springs, and enjoy some patriotic treats!
