  4. We’re in Magic Kingdom today for the Annual Passholder preview of the reopening! Splash Mountain One of our BIGGEST questions has been how long wait times will be in Magic Kingdom. Well, we’re working on figuring it out; some lines are definitely LONG. You might think the longest line in Magic Kingdom today would be Splash Mountain (after all it IS going to get reimagined). You’re close, but there’s actually a MUCH longer wait for something else. It’s true, the attraction had a little under an hour wait this morning — but the LARGEST line in Magic Kingdom today was for the SPLASH MOUNTAIN MERCH! Frontierland stores are using a virtual line (much like we saw in Disney Springs when World of Disney opened). Splash Mountain merchandise You’ll never guess how long the wait was when we got in line — 240 MINUTES! That’s FOUR HOURS. Dang, people really want their Bre’r Bear plush toys! Splash Plushes Is this wait time the most surprising thing we’ve seen in Magic Kingdom today? Maybe. Keep in mind guests don’t have to physically stand in line. The virtual line will send them a text when it’s their turn in line. Stay tuned for ALL the updates from the Passholder Preview days in Disney World! We’re LIVE from the return to Magic Kingdom. Click here to follow along! Would YOU wait four hours for Splash Mountain merch? Tell us in the comments! Related posts: Spotted! The COOLEST New Shirt Splashes Into Disney World’s Magic Kingdom! 5. We’re back at Magic Kingdom today for an Annual Passholder preview before the park opens to the general public on Saturday. Magic Kingdom And now it’s time to take a visit to our happy place INSIDE our happy place! That’s right — we’re headed to Main Street Bakery, a.k.a. Magic Kingdom’s Starbucks location to see what new treats we can find! Oh Main Street Bakery, how we’ve MISSED you! From your antique ceiling tiles, brass light fixtures, and your copper accents aplenty — you truly are our home, sweet home. Not to mention the air in here is always filled with the delicious aroma of freshly ground COFFEE! If that doesn’t wake you up, we don’t know what will! Main Street Bakery And what have we here? A new specialty cold brew drink! It’s called the Endless Yum and it features Starbucks’ signature cold brew topped with a cinnamon almondmilk foam! Sounds pretty yummy to us! Endless Yum Well, we know what we’ll be ordering once we get to the front of the line! Both sides were open at Main Street Bakery today and folks were doing a good job social distancing thanks to the handy markers that have been placed on the ground. Main Street Bakery Plexiglass shields have been installed at all the registers and guests are held at the register after they order until a spot over by the pickup window opens up. Guests are encouraged to use contactless forms of payment such as MagicBands, Apple Pay, or the Starbucks app. Main Street Bakery The pickup window also has a new plexiglass barrier. A Cast Member will call your name when your drink is ready and you can approach the counter. Pick-Up Window When you pick up your drink, be sure to ask for any sugar or milk if you need it since these items are no longer being left out on the counter for guests. Milk and Sugar Are Available Upon Request And voila! We’re already outside in the fresh air with our Endless Yum! Endless Yum And we gotta say — the Endless Yum lives up to its name! The cinnamon adds a nice spiciness to the cold brew which is smooth and bright! The almond milk adds just a little sweetness, but if you prefer a sweeter drink, you might wanna ask for a few pumps of syrup! Endless Yum We can’t wait to explore more Magic Kingdom stuff for you, but for now, you can also follow along with our live coverage happening over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom right here! 7. Select Walt Disney World hotels began reopening to guests on June 22nd, ahead of the Resort’s theme parks which will officially begin reopening to guests this Saturday, with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11th followed by EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15th. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel still have Disney’s Magical Express available as a complimentary transportation option to and from the Orlando International Airport even during this initial reopening phase. However, a modification has been made to the service that we thought future guests will certainly want to know. Under typical operations, Disney’s Magical Express offers guests the ability to have their checked luggage delivered directly from the airport to their Resort hotel room. However, according to an update on the Walt Disney World website, starting Thursday, July 16, 2020, “Disney’s Magical Express service will not be providing luggage delivery service for those arriving to and departing from the airport.” Walt Disney World website screenshot This means that guests who use Disney’s Magical Express service will be responsible for picking up any and all of their own checked luggage from the airport’s baggage claim area. Then guests will carry their bags to their designated motorcoach where the driver will load them onto the bus to their Resort hotel. (Luggage will travel with the guests on the same motorcoach.) Upon arrival at the Resort, luggage assistance will be available at the entrance, including storage of luggage and/or delivery to the room. Disney’s Magical Express Guests will also retain their own luggage for departure, and it will likewise be loaded onto the motorcoach. Guests will check their luggage with their airline upon arrival at the airport. (Resort airline check-in will not be offered “at this time.”) Note that, on the Walt Disney World website, this statement precedes the information: “During the initial reopening period, some benefits may be modified or unavailable.” At press time, there is no information regarding how long the luggage delivery service will be suspended, but if anything changes, we will keep you posted. In the meantime, you can catch up on the latest information regarding the reopening of Walt Disney World Resort by visiting any of the links below. 8. Today, you can complete your Disney Paper Parks of Main Street, U.S.A. and the “Magic Happens” parade with the release of part two of Disney Paper Parks. Once completed, know that we have more printable, 3D activity sheets on the way, and in the meantime, enjoy moving the floats down your parade route at home as pieces of moving art! When Imagineers Stephanie Jazmines and Amy Young designed Disney Paper Parks for the Disney Parks Blog, they wanted to remind guests how big of an opportunity a blank sheet of paper can be. If that sounds familiar, it was a mantra of Disney Legend and Imagineer Marty Sklar. Stephanie said, “With today’s increasing emphasis on the digital, it’s always rewarding to step back and remember what you’re capable of making with some imagination and your own two hands.” As a reminder, the activity sheets require the use of scissors, glue and folding along dotted lines in specific directions. For best results, we recommend printing the sheets at their actual size, not scaling them to fit the page. For those with little ones, we also recommend adult participation or supervision. “It’s amazing what you can create with a single piece of paper,” Amy said. “So, grab your art supplies, pack your patience and take your time to create your very own paper park. We are so excited to see Disney fans bring these pages to life!” By downloading Disney Paper Parks, you acknowledge and agree that these materials are being provided to you for personal, non-commercial use. Attendants were parking cars in every other space so that guests can physical distance as they get out. Animal Kingdom Parking Bag and Temperature Checks Temperature checks are done with handheld infrared thermometers in large white tents. Remember, these checks are administered by AdventHealth professionals. Temperature Checks Then it’s onto bag check. 11. Disney World is reopening this week, and that means that some guests are ready to plan their trips to the parks. Walt Disney World During the historic Disney World closure, new ticket sales and hotel reservations were indefinitely suspended so that Disney could accommodate guests with existing reservations. New vacation packages for 2021 opened first and last night, Disney announced that 2020 purchases would be available TODAY. It’s official! 2020 Disney World tickets and hotel reservations are available NOW! Currently, the only ticket option available is Standard Theme Park admission. We tried to select the option to purchase a new Annual Pass and were directed to the Experience Update page. One thing to note — there is no Park Hopper add-on option for 2020 tickets (you CAN add Park Hopper in 2021!). Disney Website Screenshot In fact, the only add-on option is for the Memory Maker service. As of now, you’ll have to wait until 2021 if you want tickets with Park Hopper, Park Hopper Plus, or the Water Park and Sports option. Keep in mind that you should take a look at Disney Park Pass availability prior to booking — even if you’re looking at a 2021 trip. Disney Website Screenshot Resorts with availability for 2020 have been listed this morning too! One thing to note is that the hotels with unannounced reopenings do NOT have any 2020 OR 2021 availability at this time. Disney Website Screenshot We didn’t encounter any website issues this morning, but Disney did mention the use of virtual waiting rooms and rolling release times so let us know if you have any trouble! Stay tuned to DFB in the coming week for all the HUGE reopening updates. Click here to learn more about the hotel reopening dates! Will you be booking a 2020 vacation? Tell us in the comments! 14. Disney World is mere days away from officially reopening. That means final preparations are underway to be ready to welcome guests back into the parks. Cinderella Castle in Reopened Disney World One of the biggest changes has been the introduction of the Park Pass Reservation System, which requires guests to have both a valid ticket AND a reservation for access to one of Disney World’s theme parks. When the Park Pass system went live, a number of Annual Passholders were left in a confusing situation — if they held a hotel reservation, they were only able to book the length of their resort stay and NOT also their three days of passes at a time allotted to them as Passholders. It seems this has changed! Previously, the online Park Pass system only identified guests in one of three ways — regular ticket holders, guests with hotel reservations, or Passholders with no overlapping. This meant Passholders WITH a hotel reservation were recognized in the system by their hotel stay, allowing them to book for the length of their stay. It did NOT let them go back and make the three passes they are able to book with their Annual Passes on top of those hotel-related passes. ©Screenshot From Disney Park Pass As of today, the Park Pass system will allow Passholders with a resort stay to book BOTH. So they can book their resort passes for the length of their stay and then still book those additional three AP-related Park Passes. We had a number of readers reach out to us frustrated with this limitation, so if this applied to your situation, be sure to note you now have more Park Pass options as a Passholder. ©Disney This new information is noted on the site, but we haven’t been able to see it reflected for us just yet. We’ll keep you updated if we learn of any changes to the Park Pass system in the coming days, and be sure to check back with us for our continuing coverage of Disney World’s reopening! We’ll be live in the parks sharing everything with you, so let us know any questions you may have! Are you a Passholder who had been affected by this limitation? Let us know in the comments! 22. Even before local health officials mandated face masks in both Orange County, Florida, and Anaheim, California, Disney stated that all Cast Members and guests over the age of two would be required to wear a face covering while inside Disney World’s theme parks, hotel common areas, and Disney Springs. Rainbow Mickey Face Mask We’ve shared information about what Disney considers to be an acceptable face covering. But, there have been some inconsistencies between guest experiences and Disney’s official policy that could impact what type of face covering you should bring with you to Disney World. The confusion has to do with gaiters, a popular style of face covering that is worn around the neck and lower face. Gaiters are an accepted form of face covering in many places, but whether or not they’re considered adequate for entry to Disney World has been a bit of a mystery. Disney’s policy doesn’t explicitly mention whether or not gaiters are permissible. Disney World’s website does state that face coverings must “be secured with ties or ear loops,” which leaves some room for interpretation since some gaiter styles include ear loops. Does this mean gaiters with ear loops will be considered okay by Disney standards? Screenshot of Disney World’s Website We’ve also seen gaiters for sale in some of the Disney Springs stores that are owned by third parties. Does that mean these types of gaiters will be allowed inside Disney World since they’re being sold inside Disney World? Gaiters at Chapel Hats in Disney Springs There are some forms of face coverings that Disney has specifically stated are unacceptable. So far, we know that Disney does not consider face shields an adequate face covering, but guests are welcome to wear them in addition to an acceptable face covering. Bananas are also prohibited since they aren’t snug enough against the lower part of the face. Do I have to wear a mask when taking a photo in Disney World? Here’s what we experienced. Recently, we’ve had readers tell us that Disney is no longer accepting gaiters as a valid form of face covering since they don’t fit snugly enough. Disney’s guidelines state that the face covering must “fit snugly but comfortably against the the side of the face,” and most gaiters hang somewhat loosely around the face. If we are to take Disney’s language literally, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear them confirm that gaiters aren’t sufficient. In the market for some new face coverings? Check out our line of Disney Food Blog masks! In fact, one of our readers shared that he was issued a disposable face mask to wear instead of his gaiter, rather than be turned away. BUT, we don’t advise you to try this. Disney likely would not have disposable masks to give out to every guest, and if they determine that your face covering is inadequate, you won’t be allowed in. Cast Members We have previously seen gaiters accepted at Disney Springs and we know some guests may intend to use them as their face covering when the parks reopen. BUT FOR NOW, we strongly suggest that you bring an additional style of face mask if your first choice is a gaiter. Even though Disney World’s website doesn’t explicitly prohibit the use of gaiters, we think based on the language that there’s a good chance they won’t be allowed. We recommend you carry a few ear loop or tie face masks as a backup, just in case. Better safe than sorry — and A LOT better than being turned away for not having a sufficient face mask! We will continue to keep you updated on the mask policy at Disney World should Disney provide further clarification! Disney is now selling extra-large face masks! Click here to learn more! We have introduced new health and safety measures throughout our parks, like physical distancing and modified restaurant menus, and at Magic Kingdom Park we’ve also continued the royal makeover of our beloved castle. The treasured icon at the heart of Walt Disney World Resort is being made over with bold, shimmering and regal enhancements befitting The Most Magical Place on Earth. Special elements, such as a sapphire dusting on the blue rooftops and gold trim, were added to make the iconic spires sparkle in the sun. Here is a sneak peek at the regal new look, which you might see our painters applying the final coats of paint and adding the finishing touches to if you’re planning to visit Magic Kingdom park over the next several weeks: Cinderella Castle looks more stunning than ever and I can’t wait for you to see the progress we’ve made when we reopen Magic Kingdom park on July 11.
