  1. When Disney World closed its parks, new ticket sales and the ability to make new hotel reservations were suspended. Walt Disney World Resort entrance Disney wanted to make sure they were accommodating guests with existing tickets and hotel reservations (including Annual Passholders) when they reopened the parks and rolled out the Disney Park Pass system. Disney World has already welcomed new vacation package sales for 2021 and now, Disney has shared when they will resume 2020 ticket sales and hotel bookings. Disney World is starting the phased reopening of its theme parks this week, which you can read more about here. And, now Disney has shared that 2020 ticket sales and hotel bookings will resume tomorrow, July 9th. According to Disney, “tickets and Disney Resort hotel bookings may be released at different times throughout the day tomorrow.”Disney will also use virtual waiting rooms as needed to manage the high volume of guests looking to plan their visits. Magic Kingdom Although new park admission will be available to buy, Disney will still be requiring that guests use the Disney Park Pass system to make reservations to visit Disney World. So check that calendar to make sure the days you’re hoping to visit the parks are available. You can read our full experience booking Disney Park Passes here! We will continue to update you on this situation as more info is shared, so stay tuned! What has been your favorite thing to see in Disney World? Let us know in the comments below! 2. In just a few more days, we’ll begin welcoming the first guests back to the theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort, starting July 11 with Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and followed July 15 by EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We’re continuing to prepare for these openings in a measured and deliberate way, implementing health and safety measures with cast members and guests in mind. As you may recall, earlier we had temporarily paused 2020 ticket sales and Disney Resort hotel bookings so we could focus on helping existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders plan their visits with the new Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system. We are glad to share that beginning tomorrow, July 9, we will resume ticket sales and Disney Resort hotel bookings for 2020. Guests will soon be able to purchase new tickets and plan future visits throughout this year with the Disney Park Pass system, which we are using to help manage attendance during this reopening period. For those looking to make their plans right away, please note that tickets and Disney Resort hotel bookings may be released at different times throughout the day tomorrow. In addition, we will use virtual waiting rooms as needed to manage the high volume of guests looking to plan their visits. All guests with valid admission are required to make a reservation in advance for each park entry, so be sure to check the park reservation availability calendar before purchasing any new tickets and then go directly to DisneyWorld.com/DisneyParkPass after your purchase to make your park reservations. Reservations are limited and subject to availability. Please note that, during this phased reopening, some tickets, ticket options and Disney Resort hotels are unavailable, but there are still a variety of options to choose from. Though the experience may be different than the last time you visited, there is so much to look forward to, with many favorite attractions and dozens of entertainment offerings, including special new character cavalcades and the Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. If you’re planning a visit for this year, we recommend checking out our “Know Before You Go” page at DisneyWorld.com/Updates, where you’ll find tips and information like how to make park reservations after purchasing your tickets. We realize that everyone’s situation is unique, so if you have specific questions about your plans, you may call the Disney Reservation Center, submit questions to the Disney Parks Moms Panel or speak with your travel provider for more details. We hope to see you real soon! View the full article
  3. With Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom set to reopen to guests on July 11th, followed by Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15th, we’re learning more about which transportation options will be available. Friendship Boats Guests staying in Magic Kingdom area hotels typically have access to water taxi transportation to take them between their resort and the park. But upon the initial reopening, only select hotels will have access to the water taxi service. According to the Disney World website, the water taxi service will NOT be available for Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort during the initial reopening period. Screenshot of the transportation options available at Polynesian Village Resort from the Disney World website However, there WILL be limited water taxi service to the Magic Kingdom available for guests at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Screenshot of the transportation options available at Fort Wilderness Resort from the Disney World website We’ll keep an eye out for any additional updates regarding the transportation options available around Disney World property at the parks prepare to reopen! Here’s what it’s like to ride the Monorail in a reopened Disney World! Which form of transportation in Disney World would you feel the most comfortable using? Let us know in the comments! 4. WOW! We’ve been back inside Magic Kingdom for the first time since it closed its gates in mid-March! The experience was VERY different than what we’re used to when it comes to visiting a Disney World theme park! Magic Kingdom Keep in mind that while our first experience back was a Cast Member preview day with very limited crowds, one of if not THE most noticeable differences we experienced was the impact on crowds from the limited capacity. In order to accommodate physical distancing and to keep crowds at bay, Disney has drastically reduced their capacity and controls the number of people in the parks via their new Disney Park Pass Reservation System. So, what do YOU need to know about having a successful limited capacity vacation? We’re sharing 10 tips with you today! From preparing for your trip to navigating the ins and outs of a reopened theme park, there are tons of new tips and tricks to having a successful day in a theme park with limited capacity! Yes, crowds are WAY lighter, but you still need to be prepared! Here are our top ten tips! 1. You’ll still want to prioritize your favorites. Yes, limited capacity should result in shorter lines — and that’s a good thing! But that doesn’t mean you should drop your priorities. There’s a lot less planning involved in a reopened Disney World (especially without Fastpass+!) but we definitely recommend giving your park day at least a little bit of forethought. Space Mountain Think about which attractions and experiences are must-do for your group. Prior to your park day and make sure you check in to see that everything you want to do is open so you can avoid disappointment when you’re in the parks. Then, make sure you hit your priority rides when you’re in Magic Kingdom! Seven Dwarfs Mine Train There are shorter lines, but there are also lower ride capacities and lengthier loading processes. Plus, if there are any breakdowns or delays you run the risk of missing out on an experience just because you figured you’d have the time to ride later. Make those priorities and do your best to put them first during your park day! Click here to learn more about how limited capacity could affect wait times! 2. Don’t expect every ride to be a walk-on. As we mentioned, capacity definitely pushes wait times down, but those lines can still get lengthy. It’s true that pretty much everything we rode was more-or-less a walk-on on our first day back in Magic Kingdom — but that wasn’t true for every single ride! Splash Mountain Line You could still be spending some time in line. When we rode Splash Mountain, we waited around 35 minutes and that was during a Cast Member preview. As the parks reopen to the public, we could see even longer waits for high-demand or low capacity attractions. Make sure that you keep this fact in your head so that you’re not surprised when you’re headed for a whirl on your favorite ride. Want to learn more about how long waits were for Splash Mountain? Click here! 3. You may want to schedule a mid-day table service meal. Table-service meals can definitely eat some time out of the middle of your day but right now, they might be a good addition to your plans. Outside of the Relaxation Stations, sitting at a dining table is the only time that guests are allowed to remove their face masks. Jungle Skipper Canteen Sign A reopened Magic Kingdom can feel a little overwhelming at times. There are markers on the ground, everything is being sanitized, and you can’t see a single smile. If you think you might need a little break to feel like everything is “normal,” that table-service meal could be a good bet. Spend some time sitting in Disney World, eating some yummy food with no mask on your face, and you might be recharged and ready to re-mask up and hit the park again. View from the Plaza Restaurant If you’re thinking this could be a much-needed break for you, go ahead and take a look at the listing of opened restaurants! Advance Dining Reservations are open once more for all guests, so plan ahead and carve out that break time. To see the list of reopening restaurants, click here! 4. Keep an eye out for entertainment! This next tip can definitely help you with a big adjustment! Meeting Disney characters is no longer a guaranteed part of your day in Magic Kingdom (or any Disney park). Set your expectation that you will likely not interact with any characters — because that’s very possible! Merida Character cavalcades and encounters are random but FREQUENT, so it’s kind of like a fun scavenger hunt to find or see your favorite Disney pals. Keep your eyes open! Cavalcades run down the Magic Kingdom parade route or above you in the Main Street Train Station at random times and you might run into some familiar faces when you’re exploring the lands as well We kind of loved the new Cavalcades — see why here! 5. Pack smart. Of course, it’s always important to make sure your park bag is stocked, but right now there are some special considerations to take. For one, we recommend bringing your own hand sanitizer. There are hand sanitizer stations all over the park, but if one is empty or not working, it’s good to have your own. An extra mask doesn’t hurt either for each member of your group! Hand Sanitizer One SUPER important tip is to pack all of your electronics together prior to security. The new security protocols will have you placing all of your electronics in a clear plastic bag before you bring your own bag through the metal detectors. You don’t want to be stuck awkwardly fishing through your bag for a renegade charger. Plus, if you miss something and the detectors go off, you’ll have to dump your bag into a bin for a no-touch bag search. Bags for Security We also noticed a few water bottle refill stations weren’t open too. This might change, but if you’re a fan of toting a water bottle around, plan accordingly anyways. Bring a bigger bottle if you think you’ll need it or consider filling up in your room before you head out for the day! Want to learn more about new park protocols? Click here! 6. Don’t be afraid to take your time. We know the feeling. A Disney park day is EXPENSIVE and you might feel inclined to rush to make sure you do everything that you want. We do it too! Right now though, you have a chance to slow down a little more and really experience the Disney parks. Don’t be afraid to take your time! Magic Kingdom Between the shorter lines and closed attractions, you might be surprised by how quickly you run through your to-do list. That means that you have a little more wiggle room to avoid rushing around from place to place. So, take a little longer on that lunch or your stroll through Adventureland. This can really add to your park day AND you can discover things you were typically rushing past too quickly to see in the past! Relaxation Station Plus, you’ll probably notice that Cast Members aren’t rushing the new protocols either. Lines may pause while Cast Members sanitize a ride (it happened to us several times while we were waiting for Splash Mountain!). If you go in with the mindset of taking things slowly, you’re less likely to feel frustrated if there are any delays. To see our FULL coverage of our return to Magic Kingdom, click here! 7. Keep a park map handy. This is a little tip that can make a pretty big difference now! Make sure you have a park map handy, whether it’s on your phone or with a paper map. These maps will reflect up-to-date information on what is and what isn’t open and will show you where you can find resources such as Relaxation Stations. Magic Kingdom Guidemap On your phone, you can even filter the map to show you where you can find hand sanitizer stations and quick-service spots with Mobile Order. These directions can be SUPER helpful when you’re trying to follow all the new health guidelines in Disney World. Even if you know the parks like the back of your hand, things are different right now, so it never hurts to have a resource handy. Click here to learn about park maps in a reopened Magic Kingdom! 8. Keep your phone charged. On the note of technology, keep your phone charged. Not only is the My Disney Experience app your ticket to an up-to-date and comprehensive park map, but it has a LOT of other features that are total life-savers in a reopened Disney World. Cast Member Preview Wait Times Wondering about wait times? Check the app. Need to scan the new health protocols? Check the app. Plus, My Disney Experience now has important features such as the HIGHLY encouraged Mobile Order for quick service dining and Mobile Dine Check-In for table service dining. Want more info on the new Mobile Dine Check-In? Click here! 9. Give yourself extra time for transportation. You might think that without park hopping, you won’t need to worry about travel times on transportation. Well, hold your horses. You’re still going to want to give yourself extra time for transportation to and from the parks, and remember to be patient when using the Disney transportation system. Monorail There are lower capacities on most methods of transportation to keep guests safe. Gone (for now) are the days of being crammed like sardines in Disney buses or monorails! So, when you’re boarding or waiting for your monorail, Skyliner, bus, or boat — things might take a little longer than you expect. To learn more about the suspension of park hopping, click here! 10. Be kind and courteous. Finally, our BIGGEST tip of the list is to be kind and courteous to Cast Members and other guests. This is a wonky new environment and everyone is doing their best to navigate it. Change takes time, not just for us as guests, but for Cast Members who are having to relearn how to do their jobs in a whole new, uncharted way! Respect peoples’ space and listen to Cast Members if they ask you to do something. Cast Members Cleaning At the Cast Member preview, we were super happy to see people being safe and enjoying their park day. We even had folks saying “Behind you!” in shops to make sure that we could keep our space. Hopefully, this continues as the parks reopen. Cinderella Castle We hope this list was helpful and can assist in planning your upcoming Disney World vacation! Since it looks like the Park Pass Reservation System could be around until 2021, we’re all going to have to get a little comfortable with navigating this new “world.” Be sure to stay tuned to DFB as we share MORE tips from a reopened Disney World! 5. We’ve got another BIG transportation update for ya, and this one’s a bit of a doozy! Magic Kingdom Moments ago, we told you Disney Skyliner would be loading only one party per gondola and that Disney World’s parking lot trams would be unavailable when the parks reopen. And now, we’ve just learned while Magic Kingdom’s monorail service to and from the Transportation and Ticket Center has already resumed, monorail transportation to EPCOT will not be available until further notice. Disney World’s website reflects this recent update: Screenshot From Disney World’s Website Keep in mind Disney World’s bus transportation has resumed at this time but is currently running between Disney Springs and the resort hotels only. Once the parks reopen, bus transportation between the resort hotels and Disney World theme parks will be provided to guests. Click here to see how Disney World’s buses have changed since the last time you rode them! 6. Yesterday we had our first experience watching Disney World’s new Character Cavalcades roll by at Magic Kingdom! Aladdin and Mary Poppins! Instead of character greetings, parades, and fireworks shows (which have been temporarily put on hold), guests can enjoy these smaller processionals which are featured randomly throughout the day. That way, folks will still have the opportunity to interact and snap of few pics of their favorite Disney friends — but from afar! And while Disney World has previously announced the names of a few of their new Character Cavalcades and places you can spot them, they’ve just shared even more information about these new entertainment offerings including where you’ll be able to catch them! It’s Tigger! Keep in mind Disney World’s new Character Cavalcades aren’t scheduled and you won’t find times for them listed like you would for Disney World’s parades, shows, or nighttime spectaculars. Now let’s get into some new juicy DEETS! Magic Kingdom According to Disney, “The Royal Princess Processional” will be offered “several times daily,” and will include favorite Disney princesses throughout the streets of Magic Kingdom. Princess Merida will lead the way on her trusty steed Angus, followed closely by a gazebo float and crystal castle carrying Cinderella, Tiana, Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Rapunzel, and others. Crystal Princess Float is Back The “Mickey and Friends Cavalcade” will feature Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and their pals daily. Yesterday it was Pluto, Donald, and Daisy, but its possible this might change depending on the day. Plus some of the characters had on their 90th-anniversary celebration costumes for the special occasion! We also wanted to mention that we spotted Rabbit, Piglet, and Tigger, and a few others yesterday. So you never know when more unexpected friends will show up! We spotted Merida and Angus along with the rest of the Royal Princess Processional yesterday! Click here to see it! Mickey and Friends And here’s a brand new character experience we just learned about! Cinderella’s Evil Stepsisters will be perched on the balcony of Cinderella Castle in Fantasyland from time to time! Cinderella Castle You’ll be able to interact with Anastasia and Drizella while staying at a safe distance! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Previously Disney told us to be on the lookout for characters cruising the waterways of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but now we know exactly who we can expect to see AND where they’ll be roaming! For “Donald’s Dino Boat Bash” Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Launchpad McQuack will wave to guests from their party boat as it sails from Dino Land U.S.A. to Discovery River. We also saw Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto yesterday. Launchpad McQuack The “Discovery River Character Cruise” will also occur throughout the day, and guests will be able to see either The Lion King’s Timon and Rafiki or Pocahontas with Meeko cruise Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s waterways. Timon and Rafiki Disney also mentioned the “Discovery Island Drummers” will be a band of high-energy percussionists and will entertain guests on the shore with an energetic beat from aboard their boat. Epcot When Epcot reopens July 15th, the new “Mickey and Friends World Tour” will be kicking off! Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, and Goofy will be roaming the World Showcase at random! Flower and Garden Festival Queen Anna and Elsa will also be venturing around the World Showcase, journeying from country to country in the “Frozen Promenade.” Elsa and Anna Topiary Looks like we’ll be having a blast visiting the Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival’s food booths while watching some of our favorite characters too! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Out of all the parks, Disney World just released the newest details about Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It looks like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be offering up lots of adventures and says, “guests are likely to come across some familiar faces as they explore Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu.” Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Heroes of the Resistance, including Rey, Chewbacca, and Vi Moradi, will be out on platforms above the garage in Black Spire Station or can be seen surveying activity around the spaceport where the Millennium Falcon has landed. It’s Chewbacca! Meanwhile, a contingent of First Order Stormtroopers will join Kylo Ren in patrolling the landing platform at Docking Bay 9 beneath their TIE Echelon assault vehicle! Stormtroopers Some of the biggest stars from Pixar Animation Studios’ films will make their way down Hollywood Boulevard for the “Pixar Pals Motorcade.” This Character Cavalcade will include The Incredibles, Toy Story pals, and more. Woody And for the kiddos, “Disney Junior Stars Motorcade” while come and go throughout the day featuring Disney Junior stars Fancy Nancy, Doc McStuffins, and Vampirina. Their route will also take them down Hollywood Boulevard and they’ll be riding in colorful custom convertibles! Doc McStuffins WOW! We are so stoked to spot all these awesome Character Cavalcade crews! We’ll be on the lookout for more of them tomorrow when we return to the parks as well as the rest of the week — and next week as well! 10. We’re inching closer and closer to Disney World’s grand reopening this weekend! Cinderella Castle Along with things like Disney World transportation and many in-park dining locations resuming operations soon, we’ve now learned that a few more restaurants are reopening as well! Disney World just recently reopened dining reservations to the general public, and now they’re also adding MORE restaurants to the list of spots that are open or will be opening soon! Here are the big ones! Chef Mickey’s This is one restaurant a LOT of readers were wondering about. The UBER popular all-day character dining spot at Disney’s Contemporary Resort WILL be reopening — but possibly without characters. Chef Mickey’s While Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera and Garden Grill Restaurant have both been confirmed to be offering “modified character experiences,” there is no mention of a similar experience at Chef Mickey’s. We don’t have an official reopening date yet, but we’re excited for the return of this spot! California Grill Sticking to the Contemporary Resort, we’ve got another fan favorite coming back. California Grill WILL be reopening for dinner! This Signature Dining location will be offering a limited menu, like most other locations we’ve seen. The biggest bummer we spotted? The wonderful Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli is MISSING from the menu. Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli at California Grill This could be a temporary change (after all, this appetizer has been on the menu since California Grill opened!), but for now, at least, we’ll all be missing that goat cheese ravioli AND the spectacular nightly fireworks view, for which California Grill is so well known. Fireworks are on hold for now around Disney World along with a number of other guest experiences. We also don’t have a reopening date for this spot yet, but you’ll be the first to know when we do! We’ll keep you posted if any new restaurants are added to the list. In the meantime, check back for our continuing coverage of Disney World’s reopening! 11. We’ll be honest, there were a few modifications we were already a feeling a little apprehensive about before we arrived at Magic Kingdom yesterday. Main Street, U.S.A. One of the biggest changes we were having a hard time wrapping our heads around was the new Character Cavalcades at Disney World. A while ago, Disney told us they would be replacing their standard entertainment offerings with these unscheduled performances since character meet and greets, parades, and firework shows will be returning at a later time. Disney assured us characters would still be “very present” even though they’ve had to modify several guest experiences — including character dining as well. We totally get why Disney has had to make these necessary changes and how important they are to the health and safety of Cast Members and guests alike — but would Disney World still be FUN without parades or character meet and greets? Until we meet again, Festival of Fantasy parade! We’ve seen from afar how other Disney parks have incorporated characters into their phased reopening plans in other parks like Shanghai Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and most recently Toyko Disneyland. Characters typically wave to guests from balconies or moving vehicles to give folks a glance of their favorite pals in passing instead of character greetings, parades, and shows. ©ShanghaiDisneylandResort on Instagram Yesterday was our first chance to experience a few of the new Character Cavalcades at Magic Kingdom for ourselves! While the Festival of Fantasy Parade and Move It! Shake It! Mousekedance It! Street Party left some pretty big shoes to fill, we actually feel like the new Character Cavalcades turned out…pretty great! Princess Processional That’s right — consider us SWAYED! We were finally able to put our nervous feelings aside when we saw just how frequently and, frankly, pretty impressive these new Character Cavalcades turned out to be! There were even a few rare Disney characters thrown in the mix like Winnie the Pooh’s pal, Rabbit! Pooh and Friends To us, many of these new Character Cavalcades felt like mini-impromptu parades! Yup — they actually LOOKED and FELT like tiny parades and were happening through the park — even if they were just baby versions of the real thing! There was plenty of pageantry, music, and TONS of Disney characters to watch go by! The mixture of characters on the Fantasyland Cavalcade was an interesting mix up — Alice, Peter Pan, Pooh Bear, Alladin, and Mary Poppins! Wow! Aladdin and Mary Poppins! And we even saw some unusual stuff we weren’t expecting to see — like when Merida and Gaston rode by us on HORSES! Merida Originally, Disney gave us a list of Character Cavalcades to be on the lookout for throughout the day. We were told a Royal Princess Processional would be roaming Magic Kingdom’s parade route sporadically along with Tinker Bell, Goofy, Fantasyland Friends, Mickey-themed caravans. Performances would be unscheduled so that crowds wouldn’t congregate. Mickey and Friends Cavalcade in the Magic Kingdom today But we spotted way more Disney characters than just those dudes and dudettes. Captain Jack Sparrow was out in Adventureland looking for treasure — or rum. On second thought, probably BOTH! It’s Captain Jack Sparrow! Experiment 626 was yucking it up with Stitch fans over in Tomorrowland — Buzz Lightyear also stopped by! Stitch Plus the Main Street Philharmonic is still drummin’ and blowing up a storm! We spotted them heading out through Frontierland. Main Street Philharmonic And although we didn’t have a chance to make it over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom yet, our reader @allisonxella on Instagram sent us this pic of Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto going for a boat ride! Ah — this is AMAZING!!! Watercraft and Disney characters?!? She also spotted Chip, Dale, and Goofy in their dino best floating by to music later in the day! Photo Credit: @allisonxella on Instagram Because the new Character Cavalcades are incorporating lots of unexpected elements (so far we’ve got rare characters, horses, and boats [oh my!], but we’re sure they’ll be even more surprises thrown into the mix!) and can seemingly happen at any time, we’re pretty into these Cavalcades right now! Not having to stake out a parade spot or wait in line to meet some of these characters is also a major upside too! Read more about the new Character Cavalcades we spotted yesterday here! Even though you can’t run up and hug your favorite Disney characters right now or ask them to sign your autograph book, most of the characters we saw were super attentive and will happily wave back at you (or blow a kiss or two!). Until normal character meet and greets and parades can safely resume, these new Character Cavalcades will do us just fine and we’d like to know what you guys think of them too! Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned as we scope out even more! Disney Skyliner And while Disney World has previously announced Disney Skyliner service will resume on July 15th, they’ve just announced a new important safety detail! The Disney Skyliner debuted last year and connects several Walt Disney World resorts to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot. The ride vehicles, known as “gondolas” typically fit up to ten passengers. According to Disney, the Skyliner will only be loading one party per gondola once the service resumes on July 15th. Screenshot From Disney World’s Website That means you and your crew will be flying high in your own private gondola! July 15th is also when Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot will be reopening to the general public. It is also the first day of the Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival — a modified version of Epcot’s 2020 Food and Wine Festival. The festival will feature 20 signature global marketplaces spaced throughout the park. Click here to see which food books we hope will be returning! 13. Walt Disney World is preparing to reopen this weekend. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will open on July 11th with Hollywood Studios and EPCOT following closely on July 15th. Cinderella Castle Cast Member previews gave us insight into how dining, shopping, and attractions will be handled when the theme parks have officially opened. Disney just released a short video depicting how Cast Members are preparing for the park’s official re-opening the public since the closure in March. Jeff Vahle, President of Walt Disney World Resort, posted a Welcome Back video where we see Cast Members performing various duties throughout the theme parks. The main focus of the commercial is to display the new sanitation tasks Disney is implementing. We see Cast Members wiping down attraction seats, vacuuming hotel rooms, and wearing face masks. When Disney presented their proposal for reopening they cited specific changes to the theme park’s operations. Guests will be required to get temperature checks, wear face masks, and maintain physical distance from other guests. Increased sanitation and physical distancing on attractions will be implemented by Cast Members as well. Temperature Screening Tents at Magic Kingdom It’s going to be a busy week for Disney news! All four parks will be reopened by July 15th and there are sure to be more updates as it continues. We will be sure to keep you updated with how Disney is handling the new procedures and operations. Want to see the full list of attractions and restaurants that will be available on opening day? Check it out here! What do you think of the new commercial? Let us know in the comments! 14. With Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom set to reopen to the general public this Saturday, July 11th, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT following next week on July 15th, we’ve been closely monitoring all the official statements Disney World has released about which transportation services will be available to guests. Magic Kingdom Previously, we confirmed that monorail and ferryboat service to and from the Transportation and Ticket Center to Magic Kingdom will resume earlier than originally projected and in time for the Annual Passholder previews scheduled for July 9th and 10th. Disney World Annual Passholders, however, will be required to provide their own transportation to the parking lots and parking lot tram service will not be running. Now we’ve just received confirmation from Disney that parking lots trams will not be operating at any of Walt Disney World’s theme parks when the parks begin reopening to the general public on July 11th. Guests will be required to walk from their cars to the front entrance of the parks instead. Screenshot From Disney World’s Website It’s unclear when parking lot tram service will resume; Disney World is only stating “parking lot trams will not be available at this time.” Meanwhile, Disney has also confirmed that the theme park parking lots will offer a “cashless payment” option. Magic Kingdom Things are changing constantly now that Disney World’s grand reopening is imminent, so we’ll keep on eye out for any further announcements regarding when guests can expect parking lot tram service to resume. With the limited capacity measures in place, there will likely be fewer vehicles and it won’t be such a long trek to the gates. We’ll keep you updated on our experiences parking and visiting the parks as the phased reopening continues! See what it’s like to ride the monorail in a newly reopened Disney World here! Are you surprised by Disney World’s decision to postpone parking lot tram service? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. 23. Set the kitchen timer to midnight! We just spotted an adorable new kitchen accessory that’s fit for a princess. Emporium Sales Floor We were busy running around Walt Disney World during Cast Member re-opening reviews yesterday. We took note of the new mobile order process, discovered what it was like to revisit our favorite characters, and experienced what it is like to shop at Disney World. While scoping out the Emporium, we found a NEW item that is elegant enough to wear to the ball…or at least to the kitchen counter. We’ve been anticipating the arrival of the Cinderella apron since we spotted the new princess-themed kitchen accessories at World of Disney. Naturally, her apron was the last to arrive. (Typical, Cindy. She always has to make an entrance!) Cinderella Apron The sparkly and dainty apron is $34.99 and almost too cute to get dirty while you scrub the floors and clean the fireplace. 25. Yesterday, we stepped inside Magic Kingdom for the first time since mid-March to attend a special Cast Member preview. Magic Kingdom on cast member preview day, July 2020 We spent the day exploring and seeing how the park has changed now that so many new health and safety measures have been implemented. We checked out the modified entertainment offerings, rode some of our favorite attractions, and hit up some shops and restaurants ahead of the park’s official opening to the general public on July 11th. Since yesterday’s event was a Cast Member preview, we didn’t have to scan our MagicBands or use Magic Kingdom’s fingerprint scanners for entry because we had special tickets. We’ve been curious about how Disney World would address this issue since fingerprint scanners are one of the most frequently touched surfaces at the parks. They’re stationed at the front entrance of every park and previously every guest needed to scan their fingerprint for entry. MagicBand Scanner ©Disney Today, the New York Times confirmed that Disney World will no longer be using fingerprint scanners. The parks will instead shift to touchless entry with guests only needing to scan their MagicBands or park tickets. Magic Kingdom Touchless park entry joins the ranks along with several other contactless systems Disney is strongly encouraging guests to adopt. These include Mobile Dine Check-In, Mobile Order at quick-service locations, Contactless Menus, and Online Check-In at hotels. Most of these new systems are done via your My Disney Experience app on your smartphone, so make sure you have that set up and have plenty of battery life for your day in the park! Mobile Dine Check-In Feature Many of these new systems may evolve or change over time and we’ll be sure to keep you posted — especially once the big grand reopening day arrives!
