If you want to bring Chef Mickey’s home, then D23 has the perfect recipe for you! Chef Mickey’s Chef Mickey’s is a classic buffet restaurant located in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Even though we can’t meet our favorite characters here right now, we still love the atmosphere and food! Now, D23 is bringing you a recipe from Chef Mickey’s to make at home! The Creamy Parmesan Mashed Potatoes are so delicious and creamy, just like the name! Once you make these for your friends or family, they will probably beg you to make more! Check out the instructions below to try your hand at this phenomenal side dish. Chef Mickey’s Breakfast Tots and Potatoes Creamy Parmesan Mashed Potatoes at Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Serves 8 Ingredients 8 cups peeled and diced Idaho potatoes, approximately 8 large potatoes 1 1⁄2 cups heavy cream 1⁄2 cup butter 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 tablespoon coarse salt 1⁄2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Directions: Place potatoes in a large stockpot with enough cold water to cover potatoes. Bring potatoes to a boil and reduce heat to low and continue cooking for 15 to 20 minutes or until potatoes are fork-tender. Drain potatoes and place in a large mixing bowl. Heat heavy cream and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat until butter is melted and warm. Carefully add the warm cream and butter mixture and the Parmesan cheese to the potatoes, then beat the potatoes with an electric mixer on low speed for 2 to 3 minutes or until blended. Add salt and pepper and increase speed to high and beat for another 1 to 2 minutes or until smooth and creamy. We already want seconds! This dish is perfect for those cooler months coming up and these mashed potatoes are sure to be the comfort food we need. Sip, Savor, & Stay starts this weekend at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort! Swan and Dolphin Resort Sip, Savor, & Stay is a modified version of the annual Food and Wine Classic event. This year, the event will be held indoors and with a limited capacity. Along with an overnight stay at the resort, guests will have access to finely curated food, drink, and entertainment! Swan and Dolphin JUST released the full menus for the first two weekends of this delish event! We gotta tell you, this stuff looks GOOD. Not heading to EPCOT for the Taste of EPCOT Food and Festival? No problem! The Swan and Dolphin has you covered with yummy bites and cocktails. Let’s take a look a the menus for September 19th and September 26th. Do note that some of these items are returning from the Food and Wine Classic. September 19th: Bubbles Lounge The Swan and Dolphin described the Bubbles Lounge as “A lounge experience showcasing the finest in sparkling beverages with perfectly paired small bites to complete the experience. Taste the base varietals of traditional Champagne along with various sparkling wine styles from around the world.” So swanky! The food menu consists of dishes like crispy duck confit, pan-roasted sea scallops, and charred Prime Angus beef tri-tips. Hello, DFB friends! It’s a beautiful day to take a walk around EPCOT! Spaceship Earth at EPCOT Here’s everything we discovered since our last walk around the park. EPCOT Food Updates France Pavilion L’Artisan des Glaces has us super-psyched because THERE WAS SO MUCH PUMPKIN! First up, the Pumpkin Spice Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich has made its glorious return. Pumpkin Spice Macaron from L’Artisan des Glaces But wait–it gets better. Because you can actually get that macaron on top of a new AMAZING drink–the Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream Mac-Tini. This incredible concoction is one scoop of pumpkin spice ice cream, a pumpkin spice macaron, and a shot of spiced rum, topped with a caramel drizzle! Like, WOW. Disneyland Resort has remained closed for over six months now. Disneyland Gate California’s government has yet to release guidelines for theme park reopenings, spurring calls for action from the Anaheim Mayor and Disneyland President. Now, California Governor Gavin Newsom has commented on the coming plan for theme parks. In a press conference about the California wildfires and global health crisis, Newsom said, “We will be making announcements soon as it relates to theme parks and amusement parks.” Disney California Adventure Park We’re not sure when these announcements will come but when they do, it could be one big step towards the reopening of Disneyland. As the Disneyland closure reaches the six-month mark, theme park officials are seeking the next step. Disney California Adventure Park Earlier this week, we heard comments from Governor Newsom about the “open-ended” discussions surrounding the reopening of the theme parks. No further details were shared and the lack of information spurred calls from the Anaheim Mayor for the guidelines. Now, Disney executives have echoed the sentiments. According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland President Ken Potrock made a statement calling on the state of California to issue guidelines for the reopening of theme parks. Sleeping Beauty Castle Potrock explained, “We are disappointed with the state’s lack of progress in providing the industry with guidance and clarity on reopening. We have proven we can operate responsibly, with strict health and safety protocols at our properties around the world and at Downtown Disney in Anaheim.” Disney California Adventure The theme park itself is not the only item at stake when it comes to getting the parks reopened. Potrock noted, “Tens of thousands of people’s livelihoods depend on our ability to operate and we stand ready and willing to accelerate discussions with the Governor and his team to make ‘real progress’ toward our reopening and getting people back to work.” Emporium construction Disneyland has joined with the California Attractions and Parks Association, the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park and Garden Grove and Legoland California in the hopes of getting theme park guidelines from the state government. Several restaurants in Walt Disney World have reopened recently, while others still remain closed. Grand Floridian Lobby We’ve had the opportunity to eat at some reopened restaurants — like Grand Floridian Cafe in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa — and look at their new health and safety protocols. Now, reservations have become available for another restaurant at the Grand Floridian for dates beginning this weekend! While The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and other areas at the hotel — Grand Floridian Cafe and Gasparilla Island Grill — are currently open, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa itself is set to reopen on September 21st. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Another area at the Grand Floridian will begin welcoming guests this weekend, just in time for the Hotel’s reopening date. You can now make reservations to enjoy dinner at Narcoossee’s — a table service restaurant at the Hotel — for dates beginning on Sunday, September 20th. Narcoossee’s Sign Narcoossee’s is an upscale, yet casual, restaurant located in a cool circular building that stretches out into Seven Seas Lagoon. While their speciality was traditionally seafood, the menu also has several other options — including some wonderful steaks. It can really be a beautiful spot to grab a nice dinner after a busy day in the parks. Disney+ has some big plans for fall, and that means even more TV shows and movies! Disney+ Logo ©Disney Of course, we’re already STOKED about season 2 of the Baby Yoda Show (otherwise known as The Mandalorian). But Disney+ has plenty of other original and other programming planned for this fall! On Friday, September 18th, the Disney+ original series Becoming will show us a look at “origin stories of entertainers and athletes in their own words.” This will include interviews with the people who also know them best. The movies Bend It Like Beckham and Ever After: A Cinderella Story (one of our fave retellings of the tale!) will also make their Disney+ debuts. Ever After: A Cinderella Story ©Disney On September 25th, in addition to Hidden Figures and The Fault in our Stars, Disney+ will debut its original film Secret Society of Second-Born Royals. The movie follows Sam, a second-born royal daughter who eventually discovers she has superpowers. It sounds so cool! We’ll also get to see the original series Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, narrated by Josh Gad! Animal Kingdom Entrance October 2nd brings the 31ST SEASON of The Simpsons! It’s still going strong! ©Disney On October 9th, the movies X2 and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader land on the streaming site. But that date also brings the original series The Right Stuff, all about the exciting early days of the U.S. space program! We’re over the moon about this show! The Right Stuff ©National Geographic/Disney Who doesn’t love chimpanzees? On October 16th, Disney+ will premiere Meet The Chimps, a documentary series about a wildlife sanctuary called Chimp Haven, narrated by Jane Lynch. Disney+ will also premiere its original movie Clouds, which is based on a true story about a young musician who discovers his cancer has spread. The trailer had us grabbing for the tissues! November 17th brings the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, an all-new original special which will bring back Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, and Rose! On November 18th, the original series The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse debuts. And it’s all about Mickey and friends! That’s also the date Disney begins to air the documentary series Marvel’s 616, which will explore all things Marvel Universe. Disneyland has been closed since March, and information regarding a reopening date or timeline haven’t been announced at this time. Sleeping Beauty Castle Most recently, we reported that the California Governor is in “open-ended” negotiations with theme parks about reopening, but no specifics of a plan had been released. We also shared that a Disneyland representative had spoken out about how conversations we not forthcoming at this time. Now, Anaheim’s Mayor is calling on the Governor of California to visit Anaheim and work towards the reopening of Disneyland. According to Voice of OC, Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu invited California Governor Gavin Newsom to the city in the hopes of working towards theme park reopening guidelines for Disneyland and more. Disneyland Main Entrance Sidhu noted during a council meeting that, “Our city faces a $100 million deficit.” He attributed at least part of this deficit to the fact that the Disneyland Resort area has been closed for six months at this point. Sidhu explained, “I want to be clear, this is not reopening Disneyland for Disney’s sake…it’s for hundreds of small businesses, tens of thousands of jobs. That is why I’m personally inviting Gov. Newsom, who I have praised since day one of this crisis, to come to Anaheim.” He also stated, “I think we can all agree that if there is one company on the planet we can expect to follow the quick guidelines, it’s Disney.” Disneyland Balloons Sidhu made it clear that the reopening is ultimately out of his hands saying, “That decision is primarily in the hands of the governor and the Orange County Health Care Agency.” We will be keeping a close eye on any developments with California regulations that apply to Disneyland. Whether you’re looking for fall decor, pumpkin-spiced snacks, or spooky merchandise — there are SO many ways to celebrate Halloween in Disney World! Fall Decorations at Disney Springs Recently, we got to try some Halloween inspired drinks at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel restaurant that you may just fall in love with! Earlier this week, we stopped by Disney’s Contemporary Resort… Disney’s Contemporary Resort …to grab some food at The Wave…of American Flavors. The Wave is a table service restaurant located on the first floor of the Contemporary. The Wave Recently, we shared with you that 3 spooky drinks were headed to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. ©Disney Yesterday, when we stopped by The Wave, we were handed a special Halloween Drinks Menu detailing all of these seasonal offerings. Halloween Drinks Menu Since we’re on a quest for all things Halloween, you know we had to taste some of them! Harvest Punch and Witch’s Brew First — we tried the Witches Brew. This drink features a mix of Tito’s Vodka, Blue Curaçao, Sweet and Sour Mix, Grenadine, and Cranberry Juice, topped with Gummy Worms and a Poison Apple Glow Cube. It also has a Green Sugared Rim. Witch’s Brew This drink was definitely sweet! Even though the gummy worms add a lot of fun, we felt like the drink was just a little too sweet to have with dinner. But, if you’re looking for something spooky and you LOVE sweet drinks, this may be a great option for you. You can get this drink at The Wave for $15. Witch’s Brew We also tried the Harvest Punch. This drink is made with Captain Morgan, Butterscotch Schnapps, Orange Juice, Bitters, and Pumpkin Syrup, and is topped with a Cinnamon Stick and Star Anise. Harvest Punch Out of the two drinks we tried, this one was definitely our favorite! It may be missing the gummy worms, but this drink had a lovely mix of fall flavors and was very smooth, without being too sweet. We’d definitely order this one again. You can get one of these at The Wave for $14. Harvest Punch So, even though gummy worms are fun, the Harvest Punch, with its beautiful balance of fall flavors, came out on top (for us)! Disney+ has been one of the most magical parts of our stay at home (margs, warm blankets, and Disney movies? Maybe that’s the REAL Most Magical Place on Earth! ). ©Disney But while we’ve been rewatching all our favorite movies for the hundredth time, we’ve noticed a few that just really deserve a sequel. (Remember when we had to wait 11 years for Toy Story 3 to get made??) It’s a good thing we’ve basically become Disney movie pros by watching Disney+ on a loop! After all that binge-watching, we’ve got some pretty awesome ideas on what movies we’d love to see get their own sequels soon! (Warning — there may be spoilers here if you haven’t seen the original films!) Tangled It’s been 10 WHOLE years (!!!) since Tangled first arrived on the big screen. But, it hasn’t taken us a full decade to see Rapunzel and Flynn back together (thank goodness). Since the film came out originally, Disney Channel aired Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, which told the story of Rapunzel’s life after discovering she was the Lost Princess (spoiler alert: the HAIR comes back!). ©Disney Although the show ended this past year, Tangled still has a lot of story left to tell about Rapunzel’s journey becoming the ruler of Corona. The second film could expand upon issues with other kingdoms, like Equis and Vardaros that are discussed in the show. ©Disney Plus, we could dive deeper into how Flynn evolves from his past life as a criminal to become King of Corona by Rapunzel’s side. ©Disney Since Rapunzel has healing abilities, there’s also the thought that she could become a healer for her kingdom. Although Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventures shows Rapunzel harnessing her powers through alchemy, there’s still a question of how she can use those abilities as a ruler. Zootopia Although Disney has set out to make an entire land in Shanghai Disneyland based on Zootopia, we have yet to see what happens after Nick has joined the police force alongside Judy Hopps. There are rumors that a film is actually in progress, but there is no certainty that, if true, it would be in theaters or stream on Disney+. ©Disney In Zootopia, the audience only ever got to see a few parts of the other regions of the city in a montage sequence. However, now that Nick and Judy have officially teamed up together, there are a lot of interesting adventures to explore throughout Zootopia. ©Disney And, you never know — maybe Nick’s con-man past could catch up to him along the way! Check out the progress on Shanghai Disneyland’s Zootopia land here! Moana Moana has been hailed for its rich Polynesian culture and mythology that is conveyed throughout Moana’s journey to save Montunui. With Hamilton now on Disney+, more people now have access to Lin Manuel Miranda’s compositional skills, which can help bring even MORE hype to his work on Moana (he wrote the music for the animated film!). ©Disney Now that Moana’s people have decided to become Wayfinders, there are more islands, mythological creatures, and people to discover. Maui and Moana may even need to come together again to defeat a new threat that targets other islands! Plus, if they had extra content from a new film, Disney World has more to work with down the road following the Moana-themed overhaul of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! ©Disney Can you imagine how fun a Moana-themed treasure hunt through Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort could be?? Take a look at the Moana attraction coming to Epcot soon! Hercules Just like Moana, there’s just SO MUCH rich Greek mythology that could be uncovered in a second Hercules film (we just want the Muses back in action). In the late ’90s, Hercules got revamped as a Disney Channel show that barely skimmed the surface of additional Greek mythology. ©Walt Disney Studios The movie could dive into the Apples of Hesperides or other stories about the gods on Mount Olympus. (Seriously, give us an entire Megara story — she’s not a damsel in distress anymore, you know!) Since Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is coming to Disney+ soon, this would be the time for Disney to jump on that Greek mythology bandwagon again (or flying carriage). ©Disney A live-action Hercules film IS in the works, but we’d still love to see where the animated Herc and Meg pick up! We’re pretty sure that we ALL need more of Hades’ sass and Pain and Panic’s chaos in our lives. Now, that’s the Gospel Truth! Read all about the live-action Hercules film in progress here! Inside Out We’ve all been having the feels recently…the world IS a little wacky right now! That’s why we NEED a sequel to Inside Out! When we last left Riley and her emotions, she was at the age of blossoming from a kid into a young teenager. Since there were a lot of emotions that Riley hadn’t experienced yet, more characters (and feelings) are totally able to be introduced into her mind’s control center. ©Disney Just like audiences grew up with Andy in Toy Story (we’re still not over the end of Toy Story 3), Riley has to face a transition into the next stage of her life. We might have to delve a bit deeper into what that Puberty button does. Hellooooo awkward years! ©Disney We could even be introduced to Embarrassment and Envy in a middle school or high school setting. Or, if we’re really going all out, we might meet Love for the first time with Riley’s first crush and first kiss (which would be super interesting when it comes to how Disgust, Joy, and the rest of the gang would react!). Take a ride on the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind ride with us in Disney California Adventure! Big Hero 6 After Big Hero 6 ended, it took a few years but it got its own follow-up series on Disney Channel. Just like Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, Big Hero 6: The Series picked up right after the movie to follow the superheroes as they protected San Fransokyo from different tech-savvy villains. However, most people don’t know that Big Hero 6 is based on a comic book series that’s honestly pretty different from the Disney version. ©Disney But that means there are still a lot more villains and heroes to look into for the films. Since the movie strays away from its source material, the sequel could really go in any direction. We think it might be interesting to fast-forward to years later when Hiro has turned 18 and graduates college (which his brother Tadashi never got to do). ©Disney And, the BIG twist is that the film could end up becoming Big Hero 7 with the return of Tadashi. We didn’t actually watch him die, so he COLUD be alive (oooh plot twist!). We’re REALLY needing this to be a thing now. ©Disney Although we could give you an entire NOVEL on Disney series that deserve another film, we think that these movies would be great additions to theaters or even Disney+! Just be real for a second…can you imagine how epic it would be for Tadashi to enter and say “Tadashi is here” like Baymax does? (We’ve already got chills.) Want to feel like you’re in the Disney Parks? Watch these Disney+ shows! So, we may never see some of these sequels hit the big screen but who knows? When our kids were clamoring for more Big Hero 6 or Tangled (after we watched them both for the 5000th time!) we wouldn’t have predicted both would have found a second life on TV! It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus. We’re totally saying that a lot this time of year, because it’s spooky season! Disney Springs has joined in on the festivities, and we’re starting to spot a lot of amazing Halloween treats! Amorette’s Fall Offerings Just yesterday we shared that fall treats were returning to select locations in Disney Springs. Now, we’re back to check a few of them out. We just got to try what might be the spookiest treat of them all at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs! Y’all. Seriously. Doesn’t the Halloween Candle Petit look like the Black Flame Candle from Hocus Pocus? Halloween Candle Petit Well, get this…it’s a mini cake!!!! Halloween Candle Petit from Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs I mean, LOOK AT IT! The pumpkins and candlewick are made of fondant. And the whole thing is surrounded by a chocolate glacage dyed black. There’s also a layer of black fondant under the white chocolate glacage. The yellow and orange part of this drool-worthy concoction is chiffon cake, and the grayish layer is cookies and cream mousse. Black Flame Candle Cake from Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs The cookie cream is surrounded by a thin chocolate layer-like shell that makes you think it has tiny chocolate pieces. Yeah, there’s a WHOLE lot going on here, but WE ARE IN LOVE. This cake is so good. It’s very moist. We’re sure it will please everyone! The price is $18. The Pumpkin Minnie Mousse is carrot cake with pumpkin mousse and marshmallow mousse. They tend to offer these cuties each year but they like to give them an updated look. Now we can’t turn down creme brulee on most days, but this one has PUMPKIN, so it’s even better! This creme brulee has pumpkin custard with brûléed sugar, sable cookie, and candied pecans. In case you’ve missed it, Crocs have kind of been all the rage in Disney parks for the past few months. World of Disney in Downtown Disney We’ve seen Halloween Snack Crocs and Haunted Mansion Crocs and honestly…we don’t know what to do with ourselves. It’s spooky season at Walt Disney World! Fall Decorations at Disney Springs Yesterday, Mickey pumpkin wreaths made their way to the Magic Kingdom and we hung out with some kooky characters dressed in their Halloween best. The fall fun doesn’t stop at Main Street! Disney Springs is kicking off fall with new treats and tons of Halloween merchandise. On our way to check out what’s new at the Springs, we spotted some festive decorations! One of our favorite Disney shopping and dining districts got a little fall makeover! The “Fall Into Magic” decorations were seen at Disney Springs last year. The festive signs and decor have returned to add a little Halloween garnish. Gasparilla Island Grill Today, as we were looking at this restaurant’s Mobile Order menu on the My Disney Experience app, we saw a “Halloween Exclusives” section with 3 specialty non-alcoholic drinks. Pretty much every time we visit Magic Kingdom we spend a few minutes staring longingly at the TRON building. TRON Construction as of September 8 We just want to be in The Grid! TRON Lightcycle Run is a coaster that has been under construction in Magic Kingdom for several months now. Just yesterday, Imagineer Zach Riddley shared pictures of the canopy getting installed for TRON and now we can watch a VIDEO of this major milestone! This piece of the canopy is the first of almost 40 pieces that will “create a dramatic ‘curved wave’ canopy, known as the Upload Conduit.” Um…NEAT! No wonder it already looks so cool going in! The structure will apparently be massive and will serve as the “digital bridge” for your transition to The Grid. https://cdn1.parksmedia.wdprapps.disney.com/media/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/wdit002934029384023948.mp4 Imagineers have mentioned that the construction of the canopy pieces required an intricate process of alignment, welding, grinding, painting, and electrical work — all BEFORE the installation that you just watched. The lights in the canopy will be visible from on and off the attraction. We can’t wait to see the finished product! Tron Lightcycle Vehicle Photo Op This coaster is set to be complete in time for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in 2021, so we’re keeping a close eye on the progress.
