Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party map Well, right now Disney Live Entertainment is accepting online submissions for dancers and actors for shows that are returning for the Christmas season this year! If you’re a talented performer, you’re going to want to check out the auditions for these roles. Disney Live Entertainment is looking for dances who for both Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration and Disney Jollywood Nights’ Holidays in Hollywood. That’s not all, as Disney is also looking for actors for Frozen Holiday Surprise. Contracts for all three shows will start in mid-September 2026 and run through early January 2027. That covers Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Jollywood Nights, and the full holiday season at Disney World! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party So, three different shows, and a bunch of different things that Disney is looking for. Let’s take a look at the roles in detail! Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration Auditions Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration is coming back to Magic Kingdom at the Cinderella Castle Stage as part of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The show features Mickey and his friends having a Christmas celebration. The show is filled with classic holiday songs, new songs, characters, vocalists, and dancers. Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration What Disney needs for the show are male and female presenting dancers with exceptional technique and performance quality! Candidates must be proficient in musical theatre-jazz, Latin, and country styles. Knowledge of partnering and dance lifts is a plus. Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration Holidays in Hollywood Jollywood Nights is looking for performers as it comes back for another year at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The show in need of talent is Holidays in Hollywood, which takes place at the Theater of the Stars. The show is all about vintage Hollywood television specials, with a Disney twist. Disney Holidays in Hollywood The show features some of your favorite Disney characters, including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Tiana, Belle, Minnie Mouse, and Mickey Mouse. Not only that, but the show could feature potentially YOU. The cast is filled with singers, dancers, and live jazz musicians. Mickey! However, for this show, Disney is looking for ACTORS! Submissions for Frozen Holiday Surprise are open to actors local to Central Florida only. Frozen Holiday Surprise If you’re interested in acting in Frozen Holiday Surprise, see if you match the descriptions below: Anna (5’3″–5’7″): Elsa’s younger sister and Princess of Arendelle. Quirky, a bit awkward at times, and fun-spirited with great comedic timing. Elsa (5’3″–5’7″): The elegant Queen of Arendelle. Sincere and caring, with a confident stage presence. Kristoff (5’10″–6’2″): The rugged yet warmhearted ice harvester of Arendelle. Quick-witted with great comedic timing. This is a big opportunity! For those unaware, the Walt Disney World Swan and Walt Disney World Dolphin are not Disney-owned hotels, despite being located on Walt Disney World property. Mickey Waffles from Java at Swan However, despite this, the hotels offer some major Disney-level perks, including serving two of the resort’s most iconic snacks. So, it’s safe to say they are seriously a great place to stay during a Disney World vacation! The Swan & Dolphin are home to over 20 restaurants and lounges that offer “something for everyone, from the most passionate foodie, to those seeking a quick, yet satisfying meal”, including both Mickey Waffles and DOLE Whip! Let’s begin with Mickey Waffles, which can be found at Java inside the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel. Available for $7.50 from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the iconic waffles come with cinnamon, powdered sugar, and maple syrup. Mickey Waffles from Java at Swan While these are the same Mickey Waffles you’ll find at other restaurants on Disney property, the advantage comes from their convenience. They’re a quick grab-and-go-style item you can enjoy on your way to the parks. No sit-down meal, no dining reservation, no major planning. Just Mickey Waffles in their purest form! Mickey Waffles from Java at Swan Waffles shaped like the “Big Cheese” aren’t the only major Disney snack you can grab at the hotels, though. Over at the Dolphin’s Fuel, you can find a customizable Frozen Yogurt and DOLE Whip station! DIY DOLE Whip Classic Pineapple DOLE Whip is one of the six flavors available here, with others including Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, New York Cheesecake, and Caramel Corn. In other words, you can mix 1-2 flavors with 10 different toppings to choose from, like say New York Cheesecake and Pineapple Dole Whip with sprinkles and nuts on top…and sorry about that, started channeling my inner Homer Simpson for a second there. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select nights from August 7th to October 31st in Magic Kingdom, and tickets are officially on sale. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party This after-hours event is packed with trick-or-treating, rare characters, special entertainment, and exclusive snacks. Dates sell out far before the end of the Halloween season, and we’re keeping track of all the sold-out dates for the 2026 season. For 2026, the current sold-out dates include: October 31st, 2026 So much entertainment Halloween night is usually the first date to sell out since people love to spend the actual holiday inside the parks, but Halloween fun starts as early as August in Disney World. By October, the weather is just a smidge cooler, and wearing costumes in the Florida heat is a little bit easier. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on: August 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, and 30 September 1, 4, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, and 29 October 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, and 31 Tickets range from $119 to $229 per ticket, with the more expensive tickets being closer to Halloween. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members are eligible for a $10 on select nights from August 7th to October 2nd, so don’t forget to use your discount if you can! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party The party starts at 7 PM and runs till midnight, but guests can enter Magic Kingdom at 4 PM, which means you can get a few more hours in the parks. You can use this time to grab dinner, ride some attractions, or experience anything else that might be closed during the party. When it comes to dining with royalty (aka Disney Princesses), most folks will book Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom. However, did you know there’s a less expensive alternative in EPCOT? Let’s dine with some Princesses Seriously, when it comes to Princess dining, we think everyone almost forgets about Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, where you can experience Princess Storybook Dining with many of your favorite Princesses while enjoying a family-style dining experience. So let’s head on over to EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion to check it out! Atmosphere The space inside Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is designed to look like a Norwegian castle. Even the outside of the restaurant has lots of nods to medieval architecture, including a shield and banner. Akershus Royal Banquet Hall Once you step inside, you learn about the castle’s history and its story. Of course, it has a story Inside, you’ll find more medieval nods, with stone archways and wooden trusses. Lots of medieval elements Banners with sigils hang from the ceilings, giving the feeling of a true Viking castle. Akershus The restaurant has several dining rooms, but they all feel like they’re part of the castle thanks to stone and wooden accents. There’s plenty of seating with tables and chairs. Akershus But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu You can grab breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Akershus with menus that feature family-style dining. We visited the restaurant for dinner, which is $69 for adults and $46 per child (ages 3-9). The menu features breads, cheeses, meats, entrees, and desserts. A plant-based option is also available. A variety of beverages are also available, including fountain beverages, specialty cocktails, as well as beer, cider, and wine. Menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Characters As this is a character dining experience, you can meet some of Disney’s most iconic Princesses here…and you’ll meet a LOT (we think this dining experience might even have more Princesses than Cinderella’s Royal Table). While we dined, we met Belle… Belle …Aurora… Aurora …Merida… Merida …Tiana… Tiana …and Snow White! Snow White That’s a lot of Princesses, and they make their way around the room, so you’ll have a chance to say hello to each Princess and get photos. Eats The first course consists of Lefse with Cinnamon Butter, Selection of Cheeses, Grilled Nordic Shrimp Salad, and Princess Garden Greens with Lingonberry Vinaigrette. First Course The first course includes Lefse with Cinnamon Butter. Lefse is a traditional Norwegian flatbread made with riced potatoes. The lefse itself has a similar texture to a tortilla and has some brown caramelized parts that give it a nice flavor. Then it’s smothered in delicious cinnamon butter. This is the perfect way to start a meal. Soft, fluffy Bread rolls are also served with this course, and they, too, pair well with the cinnamon butter. Lefsa and rolls with cinnamon butter From the selection of cheeses we got, our favorite was the Caramel Cheese (or Brunost), which is a traditional Norwegian cheese that’s been boiled down until it caramelizes, giving it a brown color, and a lovely sweetness (although it has a hint of sharpness). It goes really well with bread! The other cheeses were pretty standard. Cheese The Grilled Nordic Shrimp Salad was creamy and packed with flavor. The dill is the prevalent flavor, but combined with the sweetness of the shrimp, the crunchy cucumbers, and the cream sauce, it’s such a good combination of just everything. Grilled Nordic Shrimp Salad The Princess Garden Greens had mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, and radishes, as well as some dill, poppy seeds, and other herbs. The salad is so light and crispy with a great variety of textures. The radishes offered a nice, slightly bitter flavor when added to the sweetness of the tomatoes. The Lingonberry Vinaigrette was just the icing on top. It seems like a simple salad, but it has complex flavors. Princess Garden Greens Main dishes include Norwegian Meatballs with Lingonberry Jam, Potatoes and Brown Gravy, Seared Salmon, Chicken, and Macaroni & Cheese. Main Course The Norwegian Meatballs are flavorful balls of meat with that sweet and tart Lingonberry Jam on top. It’s such a nice contrast between savory and sweet. Then you’ve got these smooth and creamy mashed potatoes with the perfect amount of seasoning. They’re topped with a delicious light brown gravy. There’s even a bit of dill on top that adds a nice herbiness. The mashed potatoes and gravy balance so well with the meatballs. Meatballs and mashed potatoes The Chicken honestly surprised us. It’s SO tender and juicy. The skin is well-cooked, and overall, it’s a delicious addition to the plate. Yes, it’s just really good chicken, but it adds to the overall dish. Chicken The Macaroni and Cheese was a well-cooked pasta that’s just a little past al dente. The sauce is creamy, light, and cheesy, too. This side will please just about everyone, including picky eaters and children. Macaroni and cheese The seasonal vegetables were well-cooked, and we LOVED having the squash on the plate. It was cooked to where it’s still slightly crunchy. It also paired SO WELL with the chicken that we combined bits of the squash and chicken together. The asparagus, though, was disappointing. We thought it was a little overcooked and underseasoned. Okay, now it’s time for dessert! You get The Royal Chef’s Dessert Plate, which has an assortment of Norwegian-inspired Desserts. They’re served in this tray that resembles a bird cage. Royal Chef’s Dessert Plate One of the desserts is Rice Pudding with Strawberry Sauce. It’s light and not too sweet. There’s a tiny bit of texture from the rice, but it’s mostly just creamy, with the strawberry adding the majority of the flavor. In the mouth, it almost feels like whipped cream with a hint of texture. Rice Pudding with Strawberry Sauce The Ariel Cake Pop is a dark chocolate cake pop coated with white chocolate. This also has a smooth texture with a wonderful, rich chocolate flavor that reminded us of brownie batter. This dessert is sure to please both kids and adults alike, especially those who love chocolate. Ariel Cake Pop The Belle Dome has a crust that’s a spiced traditional Norwegian cookie. It’s like light gingerbread flavors that aren’t overpowering. The top is a creamy mousse that tastes like vanilla. The dessert is nice, but it doesn’t have as much flavor as the other two desserts. Belle Dome So, should you head on over to EPCOT to dine with royalty? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You want to meet Disney Princesses. Yes, you can meet Princesses at Cinderella’s Royal Table, but Akershus is a lot less chaotic and a lot easier to get reservations for. If you’re in EPCOT, this is where you go for Disney Princesses. You want more unique options you can’t find elsewhere. What sets Akershus apart from other restaurants is its focus on traditional Norwegian food, although there are some standard items that could please picky eaters, too. You want to eat somewhere with great theming. Akershus really feels like stepping into a medieval Norwegian castle, and it really makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a Norwegian fairy tale. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re short on time or don’t want to commit to a full, sit-down meal. If you just want a quick bite to eat and don’t want to spend time at a sit-down character meal, which tends to take up a lot of time, you’ll want to head somewhere else. You aren’t hungry. Akershus is one of those restaurants where you need to bring a big appetite. The food here is all-you-care-to-enjoy, and the portion sizes are HUGE. It’s also hearty food that will fill you up, so if you want something lighter, head somewhere else. You aren’t really into Disney Princesses. Although the food is almost as much of a draw at Akershus as the characters, if you’re not really into the Princesses, this probably isn’t the place for you. Overall If we want a meal with Disney Princesses and don’t want the hassle of trying to get those hard-to-get reservations for Cinderella’s Royal Table, we’re heading to EPCOT to eat at Akershus. Not only do you get to meet a bevy of Disney Princesses, but you also get to dine on unique food you can’t find anywhere else in Disney World. It also costs less than Cinderella’s Royal Table. Who’s ready for some water fun at Disney World this summer?! Typhoon Lagoon We love the four theme parks at Disney World, but people have got to stop sleeping on the Disney World water parks, which we LOVE! It’s a great place to get that Disney magic while cooling down on a hot day. Well, start booking your water park days, because Typhoon Lagoon is now open! After closing down in February, Typhoon Lagoon is officially open for guests to enjoy this summer! The water park is Disney’s oldest water park, and it’s a blast for the whole family. From water slides to one of the largest wave pools in the world, you’re going to want to plan a day there. Typhoon Lagoon It’s a big summer for Disney World, because both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be open for the summer — at the same time! Blizzard Beach If you have a Disney World vacation this summer, you’re going to want to hear about this sweet deal. Disney resort guests will receive a free water park entry for their arrival day from May 26th to September 8th. This is a promotion you seriously won’t want to miss out on, especially with both water parks open. The window is fairly big, so try to plan a trip within those dates. We’re just about halfway through the year, and that means that hurricane season is almost here, and it’s time to prepare. Rainy Day in Magic Kingdom Hurricane season happens every year in Florida, which means that those planning Disney World or Universal Orlando trips should be aware of any and all storms that could develop. While Disney World is notoriously one of the safest places to be during a hurricane, it’s still not an ideal way to spend a vacation. If you’re heading to Orlando during hurricane season this year, there are TWO big differences you need to keep in mind. Take FULL Advantage of the 7-Day Rule One of the worst parts about potentially needing to reschedule a trip to Disney World is the financial aspect of it all, especially if you’re just about a week or less away from your trip. If you’ve booked with Disney, though, you NEED to know every aspect of the 7-day rule. Storm season in Magic Kingdom The rule is this: If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area, or YOUR place of residence (yes, this also applies for where YOU live), within seven days of your arrival in Disney World, you have the ability to cancel or reschedule your Disney World package without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney. This is HUGE, as it can easily save you hundreds, if not thousands, if the worst happens. This also applies to most room-only reservations, but we do recommend seeing if you can make changes online instead of over the phone, as phone lines often get very busy ahead of a storm. Rainy day at Animal Kingdom Now, if you’ve booked outside of Disney, it’s important to check that hotel, travel service, or third-party service for their policies. We actually really recommend checking their policies BEFORE you book with them, especially if you know you’ll be traveling during hurricane season. This way, you don’t feel like you’ve been screwed over if there is a hurricane and your travel plans are affected. It’s important to note, too, that if you haven’t booked through Disney, you CANNOT reach out to Disney for their help — they won’t be able to do anything for you, so it’s best to reach out directly to the company you booked with. This Year’s Hurricane Season Outlook The hurricane season for 2026 officially runs from June 1st through November 30th, and based on the reporting from Colorado State University’s Seasonal Hurricane Forecasting, it’s looking like this season could be LESS intense than usual. ©CSU From the data, it appears that the expectations for all categories, including Named Storms, Hurricanes, Major Hurricanes, and Accumulated Cyclone Energy, are all lower than the averages we’ve seen from 1991 to 2020. This doesn’t mean there won’t be storms — there WILL be, but it’s possible this season could be less invasive, which means your Orlando trip may not be affected as much, and locals may not need to prep as frequently. One of my favorite places in Disney World is Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. The resort has a beautiful BoardWalk area that is filled with restaurants, and after a long day in the parks, there’s nothing I love more than walking around and watching the sunset with EPCOT fireworks above. Disney’s BoardWalk Changes are coming to the BoardWalk, and while Disney hasn’t made any official announcements, they’ve filed permits that give us a better idea of what’s to come. Tw permits have been filed for the area, one titled “Project Amazon” and one titled “Project Bubbles.” We’re thinking this is basically Project A and B, so while Amazon and Bbbbles might have something to do with it, it’s likely it’s just what Disney is calling it to keep it a secret. ©CFTOD Project Amazon is set to replace Big River Grille & Brewing Works. This is a pretty big restaurant space, so we’re hoping another restaurant is on the way. ©CFTOD Project Bubbles is slated for the Promenade Fine Art Gallery space. Could another store be coming soon? ©CFTOD Jellyrolls was one of our favorite places on the property, with dueling pianos and a great night out. When it closed, we were devastated, but happy to hear it was moving to another location in Orlando. Nothing has been confirmed for this space either, but it seems like there are a lot of changes happening on the BoardWalk. Tickets are officially on sale today for this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! So if you have been waiting to grab your tickets, now is the time, and be quick cause some dates are already sold out! Boo To You! parade in 2025 With tickets now available to everyone, we know the exact ticket prices! So let’s dive in and see when you should plan on buying tickets if you’re looking to save a little money. This year, the Halloween Party runs select nights from August 7th through October 31st. The event will run from 7 PM to midnight, but your ticket will get you in at 4 PM if you’re looking to have some daytime fun in the park before the event begins. For millions of travelers making their way to Central Florida to experience attractions including Walt Disney World and the Universal Orlando Resort, the Orlando International Airport (MCO) is their gateway to the area. Orlando International Airport Now, the massive international travel hub is in the midst of a BIG transformation and expansion that will add new facilities for travelers traveling through the complex. MCO’s current ongoing projects include: Parking Enhancements Current parking enhancements at the airport include a new $13.9 million Parking Guidance System that will provide real-time information on approximately 11,000 spaces located throughout MCO’s four parking garages, as well as the addition of 8,000 new spaces. ©MCO Terminal C Expansion Originally put on hold due to the pandemic, the Spring of 2026 will see the addition of four new gates to Terminal C, each of which will include MARS (Multiple Aircraft Ramp System) gates with a total of 8 aircraft positions, and Common Use equipment for use by any airline. Orlando International Airport’s Terminal C Concession Master Plan As part of an ongoing plan to “seamlessly connect Central Florida and the world through exceptional experiences, collaboration, and creativity, while advancing the goal of making MCO a hub for transportation, commerce, and entertainment”, MCO will see the phased opening of a litany of restaurants and eating establishments between 2026 and 2028. Bagels Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Just Love Coffee Cafe McDonald’s Naya Middle Eastern Counter & Grill Panda Express Piggza Plum Market Raising Cane’s Sambazon Shake Shack Starbucks Velvet Taco Rental Car Lobby Opening in the spring of 2026, this $114 million Rental Car Lobby will include new counters, seating, restrooms, and concession build-out space, as well as expansion of an existing pedestrian bridge. Rental Cars at Orlando International Airport Gate Link Replacement This $253 million upgrade to the airport’s iconic automated Gate Link tram system will “replace aging infrastructure with state-of-the-art technology to deliver a smoother, faster, and more reliable passenger experience.” Scheduled to be completed in 2027, the project is set to replace the automated Gate Link tram system to Gates 70-129 and Airside 2 and Airside 4. Orlando International Airport In addition, several projects further down the line are already in the planning or early construction phases. These include: Baggage Handling Currently, the airport’s Baggage Handling System is undergoing a major renovation as part of the Airport’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), estimated to cost $652 million. As a complement to ongoing renovations to Terminals A and B, the revamped system will allow MCO to “better cater to its wide cross-section of tourists and conference attendees, most of whom produce an unusual baggage mix.” Baggage claim at MCO! Advanced Air Mobility MCO is striving to serve as a “technology incubator” for research and development (R&D) work on advanced air mobility (AAM) technologies. These include the electrification of propulsion systems, improved battery life, and the “development of systems to enable the automation of flights,” which will “shape the future of aviation and enable the emergence of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.” These experimental aircraft require a smaller footprint for takeoff and landing, and will potentially be used for “air taxi” operations, that may one day “enable intercity and intracity travel, allow emergency and public services in areas that are not served or are currently underserved, and, more broadly, contribute to the evolution of the transportation system by enabling the transfer of passengers and goods by air within a 250-mile range from a takeoff/landing pad.” North Terminal Renovations The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) is “committed to enhancing the look and feel of Orlando International Airport (MCO) into the next decade” through an interior renovation of Levels 2 & 3 at Terminals A & B. This $351 million project will see new flooring, new wall finishes, and new ceilings with lighting improvements. In addition, the existing restrooms at all four Airsides of the A & B Terminals will also be refurbished to “meet the new elevated standard set in Terminal C.” The Airside Restroom Renovation is scheduled to be completed in 2029, the Airside 1 & 3 Interior Refurbishment is planned to be completed by 2030, as is the Terminal A & B Interior Renovation for Landside, Levels 2 & 3. Terminal C at Orlando International Airport Gate Expansion – Airside 2 This $374 million project will see the addition of at least seven new gates and the creation of dual-use ramp space between Airsides 2 and 4. According to GOAA, these projects will allow MCO to accommodate more passengers and more airlines, and add “flexibility to enhance the ramp area and increase the number of aircraft overnight parking spaces available, meaning airlines can offer more early morning flight operations and service for our passengers.” MCO airport Further Parking Improvements Finally, a $1.2 billion parking and rental car expansion program scheduled to see completion by 2030 will: Make customer service areas bigger, better, and easier to use. Add Premium Reserved and Valet parking spots for faster, more convenient parking. Improve behind-the-scenes baggage screening to help bags move more quickly and reliably. Create more space for rental car pick-up and drop-off inside the airport’s parking garages. Upgrade rental car service areas so vehicles can be cleaned, fueled, and ready for customers more efficiently. Offer a more seamless rental car return process that allows travelers to drop off both their car and checked luggage in one easy step. Orlando International Airport MCO is in the midst of a massive transformation, which is changing the face of the airport for millions of travelers over the next several years. If you haven’t tried pin trading at Disney Parks before, you’re missing out on a lot of fun. There are pin boards and Cast Members with pin pouches around the parks where you can trade your Disney pins for other official Disney pins. Pin Board Disneyland recently updated its website with rules for pin trading, and we’re breaking down what you need to know before trading. You can find the full list of rules here, but we’re pointing out a few that you should know. First up, you can only trade official Disney pins. They need to be in good condition with the pin backing attached. Disney Princess pins Another thing to keep in mind is that you can trade a maximum of two pins per Cast Member or trading board per day. It’s also a one pin for one pin trading system (so, no, if you’re trading with a Cast Member or board, even if your pin is worth more, you cannot get two in exchange). For a safe trading experience, you can only trade one pin at a time, and you need to ask a Cast Member or guest before grabbing their pins. Pin trading with Cast Members Throughout Disneyland, you can trade pins anywhere using a lanyard or small handheld pin trading accessories. Disney also said, “Lanyards and small handheld pin trading accessories are allowed, subject to the Disneyland Resort rules, but no additional decorations or collateral (e.g., lights, signage, displays, etc.) are permitted.” It sounds like they’re trying to limit the big pin binders coming through. PinFolio Pins are not allowed to be displayed on benches, chairs, and tables, which means if you’re gathering with a group to pin trade, you’ll need to do it in a “floating” manner. Previously, groups would gather around certain areas and almost set up a pin trading pop-up, but these rules sound like Disney is trying to stop these events. This doesn’t mean you can’t trade with other guests — just keep in mind you’ll need to spot them around the park instead, making it more free-flowing. Westward Ho Trading Co. As a long-distance Disney fan, I usually live vicariously through my coworkers who go into the parks every single day. So, I was thrilled when I had the chance to eat my way around Animal Kingdom last week! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Animal Kingdom is currently having a moment with its food scene, and although I’ve loved Animal Kingdom food over EPCOT for years now, the rest of the world is finally catching on. Because of that, Disney invited us out to try some of the iconic eats that make this park a notch above the rest! So let’s eat around Animal Kingdom together, shall we? You would think this would be overly sweet, but between the sea salt and the light ice cream, that is surprisingly not the case. It was created this way on purpose, so that groups can share and enjoy food together. Plus, it helps you save room to try tons of other snacks around the park! The Smiling Crocodile — Arepas Believe me, you’ll want to save room for some arepas from The Smiling Crocodile! Here, you can find the Pulled Pork Cheese Arepa and the Pulled Chicken Cheese Arepa, which both come with plantain chips for $13.49 each. Executive Chef Camilo Velasco showing off the arepas The pulled pork version is topped with queso fresco and salsa verde. This was salty, a little bit spicy, and had all the right textures in one bite. The arepa itself was soft, along with the layer of cheese inside. Then there was a hefty serving of the pulled pork filling inside. This could easily be a lunch or another perfect shareable for a group! Pulled Pork Cheese Arepa The pulled chicken comes in avocado dressing and is topped with queso fresco and salsa verde. The tangy avocado dressing took the chicken to a new level. As a self-proclaimed picky-eater, I could see other picky eaters branching out with this chicken dish! Pulled Chicken Cheese Arepa This ended up being my favorite snack of the day. Executive Chef Camilo Velasco is from Colombia and introduced us to the iconic arepas. Could we see these in the new Encanto area coming to the Animal Kingdom park expansion in 2027? Unfortunately, it’s too early for that kind of scoop, so we’ll have to wait and see! Pandora — Drinks How do you theme food and drinks around a fictional world where that is not at the center? Well, that is a challenge people like Bryan Maroun, Proprietor at Pandora: World of Avatar, have to solve! And let me tell you — they definitely figured it out. Let’s taste some drinks! We tried three drinks that you can find around Pandora right now. Starting with the Nightwraith Blaze ($10.29) at Pongu Pongu, which is a non-alcoholic option based on the new Avatar: Fire and Ash film! Maroun revealed that Disney works closely with Lightstorm, the production company founded by James Cameron, ahead of new films to come up with food and beverage options in the parks. This bright red blood orange, lychee, and wildberry slushy, topped with a glow cube and passion fruit juice-filled pearls, definitely screams “Fire and Ash!” Nightwraith Blaze So, what can you expect from this? Well, it is slightly sweet, but mostly refreshing, and the juicy boba adds a nice pop of flavor. It’s possible to order with a float of Tito’s Vodka for $20.50 if you desire. The creators made sure this tasted its absolute best with and without alcohol! Boba just makes drinks more fun The other two drinks I tried can be found at Satu’li Canteen (hooray, we’re back!). This includes the Yovo Fruit Margarita ($16.50) made of Teremana Blanco Tequila with dragon fruit and sour mix. Wow, this one was strong! If you don’t pucker from the tequila taste on the first sip, I would be impressed. But once that washes over you, the refreshing dragonfruit taste hits you. I’m beyond my ultra-sweet drink phase, so this is exactly the kind of drink I look for now. It’s fruity, it’s fun, AND it’s strong, so you get your money’s worth. Yovo Fruit Margarita The yovo is one of the Navi’s favorite fruits, and dragonfruit ended up being the closest real-life fruit to it. Maroun said his team plays around a lot with these drinks, even down to the garnishes, until they get it just right. In this case, the dragonfruit on top was chosen to “not only help identify to our guests this is a really unique offering, but it is very reminiscent of what the Navi would actually have here.” Now that’s a unique garnish Finally, we tried the Trader’s Tailwind (also $16.5o), which was also created with Fire and Ash in mind. It’s made of Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Bols Triple Sec Liqueur, mango purée, Minute Maid® Orange Juice, chamoy, and ginger beer with a chili-lime-rimmed glass garnished with a dehydrated blood orange wheel. Beware, because this drink has a kick! If the chamoy inside the drink isn’t enough, a sip from the Tajin rim will definitely hit you in the back of the throat. The mango helps everything go down smooth, and the ginger beer adds depth to the complex cocktail. Trader’s Tailwind The drink’s story is “reminiscent of that storyline” featured in Fire and Ash, according to Maroun. The Wind Traders “brought these exotic and great ingredients to us, which is why it doesn’t really look like the Yovo Margarita, or any of our other offerings.” Beware! This was only the first part of my day, but it was pretty fantastic, right? Well, that was fast! Universal Orlando Only a few days ago, Universal Orlando announced that this attraction would be closing and going under a reimagining to reopen later in the year, and now the attraction is closed for the changes. The Horror Make Up Show has officially closed in Universal Orlando as of May 12th. While Universal hasn’t released too much information, we know that it will reopen after a reimagining, and we’re very excited to see what’s coming. @UOannualpassholders on Instagram This was one of our favorite shows that went through how Hollywood makes some of their iconic monsters and special effects. The queue was filled with real props from famous movies, and we hope these will stay in the queue or move to another location. @Universal Universal did say that the updated version will “showcase a mix of classic and modern horror properties along with shockingly fun surprises,” so it sounds like the base will be the same, but talk about some modern tricks. ©Universal This isn’t the only change coming to Universal Orlando. In Islands of Adventure, restaurants and experiences in the Lost Continent area will permanently close to turn into a new themed area. ©Universal Over in Universal CityWalk, Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice by Joey Fatone will be opening. It will take over the Hot Dog Hall of Fame, which is closing in July. Universal Orlando CityWalk We’re also super excited for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift to be coming to Universal! This roller coaster will have high-speed twists, immersive storytelling, and blockbuster-level excitement. The ride is set to open in 2027, but we can already see them hard at work. We’re officially halfway to Halloween, and we hope you’ve been planning out when to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year after Disney announced this year’s dates, because the time to book those tickets is NOW! Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! Tickets went on sale for guests with Disney World hotel reservations on May 5th, but all other potential attendees had to wait until TODAY to snag their tickets. Some of these dates, especially the days in October closer to Halloween, go fast, so we recommend snagging them ASAP! Any and all guests thinking of attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year can now purchase tickets via the Walt Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app. This year’s parties take place on select dates from August 7th through October 31st, 2026, and each party begins at 7 PM (though ticketed guests can enter as early as 4 PM) and ends at 12 AM. Disney leadership is about to change again. Jeff Vahle 2026 has been a big year for the Walt Disney Company thanks to major CEO and management changes. Now, another big change has been announced, and Walt Disney World will be saying goodbye to a major force. Walt Disney World president Jeff Vahle has formally announced his retirement. Vahle, who has been with the company for 36 years, confirmed he will retire this summer on LinkedIn. Jeff Vahle In his post, he wrote, “I started my career as an engineer at Magic Kingdom, and I’m wrapping it up with the best job ever, leading Walt Disney World into a period of remarkable growth in partnership with our incredible Cast Members and community.” He confirmed he will stay in the position through late July. ©Disney He noted the exciting things still to come this summer, like Cool Kids Summer, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, and updates coming to Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run, which will all take place before he retires. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle-of-the-road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Hoop Dee Doo We recently stopped by Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness to see if this dinner show still holds up, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Giddy-up, pardner, and get ready for a rootin’ tootin’ good time! The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show made its debut on June 30th, 1974, and has been delivering wonderful vacation memories to Walt Disney World guests ever since. Disney’s Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is an extravaganza of food and entertainment that the whole family will love. Seriously, it’s hard not to have a good time here. Pioneer Hall Located in Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, the setting is a huge barn complete with a stage and musical numbers, hilarious hijinks, and a good time for the whole family. Pioneer Hall Players But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu There are buckets of food for the table to share, serving up an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal of fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cowboy beans, and a WHOLE lot more. Beer, wine, and sangria are also included, as well as soft drinks, coffee, and tea, and specialty cocktails are available for an additional fee. Hoop Dee Doo menu Important Info: There are typically three showtimes per evening for Hoop-Dee-Doo: 4PM, 6:15PM, and 8:30PM Fort Wilderness can take a while to get to. Take a gander at the bus and boat systems to be sure you have plenty of time to get to Fort Wilderness for your reservation. (And note that Disney recommends you arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled showtime.) If you arrive by car or Disney bus from another park to the entrance of Fort Wilderness, you will need to take an additional bus ride to Pioneer Hall, where Hoop-Dee-Doo is presented. Disney recommends allowing 30 additional minutes for this transfer. There are three seating categories that guests may choose from. Categories 1 and 2 offer wheelchair-accessible seating. Every seat in the house offers a great view, but note that Category 3 tables have turnstools where you must swivel to view the show, facing a different direction from your table. The show takes several intermissions, though, for food service… and more eatin’! That said, we recommend seating in Category 1 or 2 to best enjoy the show. Pricing is as follows: Category 1: $78 for adults/$45 for Children ages 3 to 9 Category 2: $74 for adults/$41 for Children ages 3 to 9 Category 2: $70 for adults/$40 for Children ages 3 to 9 Pre-payment in full is required. Lots of seating! And now, onto the main event — the food! Drinks Soft drinks are included, along with unlimited draft beer, wine, and sangria. This time around, I opted for the sangria! It was not the best sangria we’ve ever had, to say the least. It was easy to tell that it wasn’t homemade and likely came from a bottle, in addition to being poured long before I had actually ever ordered it. There was ice in the glass that had started to melt, which gave it a watered-down taste. Red Sangria It honestly tasted more along the lines of grape juice rather than sangria, which isn’t that surprising considering it’s unlimited — Disney doesn’t want anyone getting TOO into the show, you know?! Eats When you’re seated, you’ll find that there is already food on your table — talk about service! I kicked things off with the House-Made Cornbread. House-Made Cornbread This had good flavor, but it was definitely on the dry side. The whipped butter was a nice addition because it helped keep things moist. It tasted like your standard Jiffy cornbread — slightly sweet, lots of corn flavor. Would have loved some actual pieces of corn or even jalapeño in it to give it a bit more depth. But overall, it was a good start to the meal. Cornbread and butter Up next, I sampled the Hoop Salad, which was a pretty basic house salad served with a vinaigrette. This was…fine. It was a pretty standard house salad with a vinaigrette dressing. LOTS of shredded cheese, which I appreciated. The cherry tomatoes and cucumbers tasted fresh, along with the lettuce. I think a berry salad or something a little more elevated would have worked really well here. The vinaigrette was slightly sweet, but still plenty acidic from the vinegar. Hoop Salad The Creamy Coleslaw was your basic, mayo-based slaw. I’d compare it to the coleslaw at KFC, just not chopped. The cabbage was incredibly fresh and stayed crunchy despite the amount of dressing on it. The dressing itself was slightly sweet and creamy, but overall, this was just boring. Creamy Coleslaw After a brief break in the entertainment, the main course and sides were served, and I couldn’t help but dig into the Macaroni and Cheese. Macaroni and Cheese This was a solid mac and cheese — it was creamy, but it was a bit lacking in flavor. Would have loved a hint of spice or even pepper, but it was a bit on the bland side. No super cheesy flavor — a sharp cheese would have been great. It reminded me of Stouffer’s mac and cheese, which is a super familiar flavor for a lot of people. Kids and picky eaters would probably love this! Creamy and cheesy The Cowboy Beans weren’t my favorite, but they weren’t offensive in any way. These tasted straight-up like Bush’s Baked Beans from a can with some bacon pieces added in for pizzazz. A bit on the tomato-y, acidic side with a hint of sweetness. They could have used more salt and pepper, and I would have loved a smokier flavor, too. They tasted great when paired with the mac and cheese, though! Cowboy Beans I LOVED the Mashed Potatoes, though. These were my favorite out of all the sides. They were skin-on red potatoes, so if you’re averse to skin-on potatoes, keep that in mind. They had a really great flavor — super buttery and perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper. They were definitely on the soupy side, though, as opposed to a chunky mashed potato. I’d say they were closer to whipped potatoes than mashed, but they had great flavor, and you could tell they were made with real potatoes and not instant. Mashed Potatoes The Smoked Barbecue Pork Ribs were surprisingly not dry for being mass-produced. The meat was juicy, had a great smoky flavor, and the rub was both salty and sweet, with just a hint of spice. I added a bit of the barbecue sauce to the ribs, but the sauce was overly sweet, like KC Masterpiece store-bought sauce, which is not personally my favorite. Folks who do like sweet, brown-sugary barbecue sauce will definitely like it, though! Smoked Barbecue Pork Ribs The Crispy Fried Chicken had excellent flavor and was SUPER juicy, but was just on the cusp of being too salty. Still, I’d rather be almost too salty than underseasoned, and this had plenty of seasoning. It was slightly peppery with a hint of garlic, and just had some really savory flavors going on. The breading was SUPER crispy and crunchy, which was very satisfying. It paired well with the barbecue sauce and had a sweet and savory thing going on with it. Crispy Fried Chicken And for dessert, you’ll be treated to an entire skillet of Strawberry Shortcake! Strawberry Shortcake I really enjoyed this — it wasn’t anything spectacular or knock-your-socks-off, but I think strawberry shortcake is best when it’s kept simple. There was a mix of fresh and macerated strawberries, which were the perfect combination of sweet and a little tart. The shortcake itself reminded me of a regular yellow cake, but it was perfectly moist and sweet, with a hint of buttery flavor. The whipped cream was pretty standard, but when each element is added together, it is a great dessert. The fruitiness from the strawberries, creaminess from the whipped cream, and butteriness from the shortcake all worked well together. SO much food So, is Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue worth a stop on your next trip to Disney World? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for something a bit different that you maybe haven’t experienced at Disney World before. You’re staying at Fort Wilderness and want to experience a classic Disney attraction. You want to be entertained while you enjoy some solid Southern American eats. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re not a fan of dinner shows. That’s most of the draw here, so consider dining somewhere else if that’s not your thing. You don’t love Southern American food. There is an allergy-friendly option along with a plant-based option, but overall, the hearty eats are part of the experience. You don’t want to plan a separate trek to Fort Wilderness. While it’s close to Magic Kingdom and easy to get to by boat, Fort Wilderness is a massive, spread-out resort. Overall Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue has been around for decades for a reason — it’s such a fun dinner show, and the food isn’t half bad either. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were my favorite, and you can’t beat a classic dessert like strawberry shortcake. If you’re looking for something a little bit different and outside of the parks to do on your next Disney World trip, consider booking this show! Kiddos and adults alike will enjoy the shenanigans. How it attaches So here’s how it works: you fill up a water bottle and attach it — and it comes with three attachments to accommodate most water bottle sizes. So, this is a smart luggage tag that has a tracker in it that works with Apple devices. Yes, it’s a bit pricey for what it is, but if you’re buying both AirTags and a luggage tag, the bundled version will save you money. This will save you the anxiety of wondering where your bag is because you’ll be able to track it in real-time. Anti-Loss Luggage Tag Now, we will warn you that this tag only works for iPhone users, so if you’re on Android, you’re out of luck. It also needs to be charged, so you’ll want to make sure it’s good and charged before your trip. view ON AMAZON Get the MagicBand Charger Doohoeek Charging Station for MagicBand+ If you’re traveling to Disney World with multiple people who all have MagicBands, you’ll quickly figure out you don’t have enough places to plug in chargers to keep those MagicBand+ functions working. That’s why we love the MagicBand+ charging station because it charges up to four MagicBands at any given time. You just snap the MagicBands into place, and they can all charge at once! Charging our MagicBand Now we will warn you that we had a little trouble getting the MagicBands in place on the charger, but overall, this is still a handy thing to have in your Disney World hotel room. This is a MUST if you’re traveling in a group. view ON AMAZON Buy the Hanging Shelves Hanging Shelves If you need places to hang additional items in your hotel room, this hanging shelves unit is ALL you need. It has three main compartments, a large zipper pocket, a smaller zipper pocket, a six-way divider, and even a way to compress items. You would be surprised how much stuff you can put in there! BAGSMART Hanging Travel Bag The best part is that you can pack it in your suitcase like a packing cube and compress it down. Then, when you get to your hotel, just unbuckle it, unzip the bottom, and hang it up. SO convenient! BUT it does take up a bit of space in your suitcase, so you’ll need to keep that in mind. view ON AMAZON Get the Pillow Speaker Pillow Speaker It’s hard sleeping in a bed that isn’t your own, even when you’re in Disney World. This pillow speaker is so cool because it allows you to listen to music, white noise, or your favorite podcast, but doesn’t disturb those people you’re sharing a room with. It also has convenient buttons if you want to adjust the volume or skip forward or backward. Pillow Speaker It’s really easy to connect to your phone via Bluetooth, too. But we’re really impressed by how well the sound travels through the pillow! We love walking over to the Yacht Club after a day at EPCOT for great food and stunning water views. Yacht Club But a massive closure will put a wrench in our plans soon. A popular Yacht Club restaurant closed today! Yachtsman Steakhouse is a New England-themed dining experience where you can watch the chefs prepare your food in the open kitchen. Popular menu items include Prime New York Strip Steak, Prime Rib Sliders, and Yachtsman’s Chocolate Cake. Yachtsman Steakhouse officially closed on May 11th and will reopen on an unspecified date in August. The closure is for a “refresh,” per Disney, so there will likely be some differences upon reopening. Yachtsman Steakhouse Newly reopened Crew’s Cup Lounge offers some of Yachtsman Steakhouse’s menu items during the closure. This includes the Lobster Bisque for $19, Caesar Salad for $16, and the Yachtsman Signature Bread for $8. Crew’s Cup Lounge is themed after a port outpost with a cozy seafaring atmosphere, thanks to wooden detailing and lanterns, similar to the vibe of Yachtsman Steakhouse. Take a look at the reopening here! Yachtsman Signature Bread at Crew’s Cup Lounge If you’re sold on a full meal at Yacht Club, all other restaurants there will remain open during the closure. Ale & Compass Restaurant offers upscale New England comfort food and classic seafood dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The coastal-inspired restaurant is designed after a cozy lighthouse. Almost all of their food is great, but we think their breakfast is some of the best on Disney property! Ale & Compass breakfast The neighboring Ale & Compass Lounge offers beers, wines, and high-end liquors with savory snacks. It’s a great, relaxing spot for a drink if the bars in EPCOT are busy! To drink, we’d recommend the Pineapple Mule and Just Peachy. For a snack, we love their Parker House Rolls, Truffle Fries, Clams Casino, Crispy Wings, and the Seasonal Market Flatbread. They may not be flashy, but sometimes you just need to grab a classic snack and drink while you’re at Disney World! Animal Kingdom Here at the Disney Food Blog, we love to try tons of different snacks and drinks, and then give you our thoughts. We love going for the unique stuff, but other times we go with the simpler snacks. We recently went to Animal Kingdom and picked up a couple of classics, and we’re sharing our review with you! One of our favorite quick pit stop spots at Animal Kingdom is Drinkwallah! You’ll find it in Asia, and we usually like to stop by on our way to Expedition Everest or Kali River Rapids. Drinkwallah For this stop, we grabbed a Frozen Coke for $6.29 and Glazed Pecans for $5.99. Both of these items can actually be grabbed at any of the four parks at Disney World. There are a couple of staples when you’re looking for a tasty snack and a cold refresher to keep you going during a hot Disney day. Frozen Coke The frozen Coke was icy cold, just the way you’d want it on a very hot day. It truly is the perfect refreshing “pick me up”. For fans of a classic Coca-Cola, this will hit the spot, as the notes of the caramel and ginger do come through. Do be careful, though, because drinking it a little too fast may result in the classic brain freeze. So refreshing! Be aware that in the Florida sun, it will melt particularly fast, turning it into basically flat Coca-Cola. So, enjoy your drink, but don’t take too long to finish it. When you really need something cold to drink, this is the go-to. One problem we face is the paper straws. They degrade rather quickly and make it hard to drink. You may want to bring your own straw! Frozen Coke! Now, let’s talk about the snack, because nothing beats munching on glazed pecans at Disney World. They’re warm, crunchy, sweet, cinnamon goodness, with a nutty pecan finish. If you are craving something crunchy and not overly sweet, this is the perfect snack. Glazed Pecans Each pecan is roasted in cinnamon sugar, evoking warm, craveable flavors that we associate with childhood. They’re so tasty! Although they are served warm, they will cool quickly. We try to wrap them up well in the bag to sustain you throughout the day. Any fan of cinnamon toast or even cinnamon rolls will find that these little nuggets are incredibly satisfying and will tame a sweet tooth in the afternoon, without being too sweet. These are a classic! Like we said, sometimes you just can’t beat the classics. If you’re at Animal Kingdom, grab this pair at Drinkwallah; you seriously won’t regret it.
