Disney World

April 3rd marked Disney’s annual shareholder meeting, where we got lots of important updates, and then we continued getting even MORE news throughout the rest of the week. This post is going to serve as a roundup of all our FAVORITE news drops that Disney had in store for us, so keep on readin’ to stay in the loop.

Well, let’s hop right into it, shall we?

We saw more Tiana’s Bayou Adventure animatronics!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open at Disney World this summer, and we got to visit the large shop where Imagineers are working on all of the animatronics for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Tiana in the Workshop

We saw several different Tiana animatronics in the workshop, all from different ride scenes, and each with a slight variation in her outfit. Some have her hat on, some off, some have a jacket, etc. We also noticed that Tiana is wearing a wedding ring in at least one animatronic, which we thought was a lovely touch. So it looks like Tiana will be accompanying us on the entire journey during the ride!

Of course there are also multiple animatronic versions of Louis!

We also saw Eudora, Ralphie, Lottie, Mama Odie, and JuJu!

We are absolutely over the moon and can’t wait for the ride to open this summer in Magic Kingdom.

WE GOT A TOY STORY 5 RELEASE DATE!

We had heard rumblings that Toy Story 5 would be happening, and eventually Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the movie was set for 2026 and beyond, and would feature Tim Allen as the voice of Buzz Lightyear. But, now it’s official and the release date has been confirmed!

It’s official — Toy Story 5 is coming in 2026 just like Bob Iger said, but now we have a release date! Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will be released on June 19th, 2026.

The Wrap confirmed the date alongside the news that Disney has pushed quite a few release dates for 2025 and beyond. As far as the details on the next film in the Toy Story franchise go, well, Disney is keeping those pretty locked up — but we’re excited to see where this story goes, as many of us thought we had seen the last of Andy’s pals already!

Disney’s Proxy Battle ENDED.

Disney has been involved in a heated proxy battle with activist investor Nelson Peltz, who was petitioning to get multiple seats on the Company’s Board of Directors.

Trian Partners nominated Peltz and former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo to be elected to the Board, but Disney has made it clear they don’t endorse either candidate. It all came to a head during a vote at Disney’s 2024 Annual Shareholders Meeting, and now, we finally know who has come out as the victor in this long, drawn-out battle.

During today’s meeting, shareholders voted in support of Disney’s current board and the 12 directors it recommended. You can learn more about those 12 directors HERE. Disney announced that the shareholders voted in support of the Disney board’s slate and against Peltz and the Trian group as well as the Blackwell group. They reported that the current board’s recommendations won “by a substantial margin.” CNBC is reporting that the vote was decisive, with Peltz losing a seat on the board by a two-to-one margin, and former Disney Chief Financial Officer Jay Rasulo, who had joined Peltz’s campaign, lost by a nearly five-to-one margin.
