Disney4me Posted April 4 Report Share Posted April 4 Disney World is home to so many inside jokes and secrets that people who don’t visit frequently can be left scratching their heads. Magic Kingdom Have you ever just stopped and taken mental notes of what you’re seeing and hearing at Disney World? Out of context, what you register could be considered pretty weird! For example, you paid to meet a rodent and get taken hostage by a militant galactic group known as the First Order, just to name a few oddities. In fact, there are a ton of things we see and hear at the parks that are completely disturbing outside the friendly confines of Disney World! We’ve put together a list of some of the normal phrases we’ve heard at Disney World that would be totally disturbing to hear outside of the parks and seven truly stood out! Let’s take a look! “Be sure to bring your death certificate, if you decide to join us. Make final arrangements now! We’ve been dying… to have you…” Little Leota ©Jeff Krause via Flickr Little Leota’s quote at the end of Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, “Hurry back! Hurry back! Be sure to bring your death certificate, if you decide to join us. Make final arrangements now! We’ve been dying… to have you…” is incredibly famous and a very fitting way to end your ride. The Haunted Mansion But if someone told you to bring your death certificate with you and that they’ve “been dying to have you” out in the real world, chances are you’d be beyond disturbed — and for good reason! “Watch out for the spitting camel!” Not spitting right now The Magic Carpets of Aladdin at Magic Kingdom is pretty similar to Dumbo the Flying Elephant with one major difference — the camel scenery piece spits water at you! Magic Carpets It may be normal to hear, “Watch out for the spitting camel!” when you pass this attraction, but it would be pretty disturbing to hear this phrase in your daily life, especially if you live somewhere urban. “We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot! Drink up me hearties! Yo ho! We kidnap and ravage and don’t give a hoot! Drink up me hearties! Yo ho!” We LOVE this ride! Who doesn’t love to sing along to Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me) when riding Pirates of the Caribbean at Magic Kingdom?! It’s a jolly good time…until you really start looking at lyrics. Pirates of the Caribbean “We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot! Drink up me hearties! Yo ho! We kidnap and ravage and don’t give a hoot! Drink up me hearties! Yo ho!” is a reference to the many dastardly, vile, and often violent crimes perpetrated by pirates during the Golden Age of Piracy. Outside of Disney World, it would be disturbing to glorify these crimes, but this Disney-fied version of history isn’t as sinister and we love the ride for it! “Everyone turn around and wave goodbye to the folks back on the dock… They may never see you again.” Jungle Cruise Magic Kingdom’s Jungle Cruise is the epicenter of dad jokes at Disney World, so when we hear phrases like “Everyone turn around and wave goodbye to the folks back on the dock… They may never see you again.” or jokes about sinking, we simply laugh and don’t think much of it. Jungle Cruise Skipper However, if you were aboard a real cruise and your captain alluded to never seeing dry land or anyone else again, the joke would probably be less funny and more disturbing. This is why we love Disney World so much — you can make these kinds of jokes and, at the end of the day, feel completely safe and reassured. “Brace yourselves! This is it! They’re not gonna make it! They’re not gonna make it!” Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom Dr. Seeker’s exclamation, “Brace yourselves! This is it! They’re not gonna make it! They’re not gonna make it!” in Animal Kingdom’s DINOSAUR ride is a fun little exclamation that only adds to the theatrics of the experience. It’s Dr. Seeker! That being said, if a scientist started panicking about your wellbeing outside of Disney World, that could be unsettling, to say the least. While we might enjoy the chaos of a thrilling Disney attraction, we’d prefer to leave that excitement inside the parks! “It’s only a 60-minute wait!” 60-minute wait for Tower of Terror When you visit Disney World, you do so with the expectation of waiting — A LOT OF WAITING. For some E-ticket attractions, that’s acceptable and anything around an hour or under can be considered a moderate wait. We suffer long wait times and winding queues to ride beloved attractions that we feel justify the wait. Long line at the monorail We are not nearly that patient outside of Disney World and would be MORTIFIED to wait as long as we do for some of the attractions at the Disney Parks. Ah, the things we’re willing to put up with for Disney but not for anything else. “I bit off the ear!” Mickey Bar! Some of the most iconic Disney World snacks are shaped like Mickey Mouse — naturally. There isn’t anything disturbing about that. However… mmm…snacks! When you walk by someone and they say “I just bit off the ear!”, you might not think twice at Disney Parks. Outside of them though, your mind may wander to disturbing places. Fortunately, if you hear this phrase at Disney World, there’s a 99.99% chance that someone just took a bite of a delicious snack, such as a Mickey Ice Cream Bar or Mickey-shaped Pretzel! Nothing beats a Mickey waffle!
