REVIEW: Did We Just Find Good PIZZA in Magic Kingdom?!

Recommended Posts

We talk about different foods around Magic Kingdom a lot, and most of the time they’re newer creations like the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread that debuted last fall. So where do you opt to eat when it’s creeping close to lunchtime, your kids are getting antsy, and you’re not looking to overspend on food?

Jackpot!

Before you decide to throw in the towel (and the big bucks) for a buffet that seems like a one-size-fits-all solution, we’ve got another option for you to consider.

You can certainly work up quite a hearty appetite while visiting Magic Kingdom riding rides, meeting characters, and seeing the parade. So when you start to hear your tummy grumble at you (or worse your kids are almost in full meltdown if they don’t get some food stat), where’s your safest bet for everyone to eat?

Cinderella Castle

We set out to answer this very question on a recent trip out to Magic Kingdom, and ironically enough our answer came to us in Fantasyland when we stopped by to eat lunch at Pinocchio Village Haus.

Atmosphere

This restaurant is made up to look like a little indoor village and can be a great place to take a breather from your day’s adventures. When you step inside, you’ll be treated to beautiful artwork commemorating the animated classic Disney film, Pinocchio.

When you walk up to the restaurant, you’ll find outdoor tables (several of which will have umbrellas for shade)…

Outdoor seating

… lots of seating indoors as you make your way through the entryway…

Seating inside

… and all of the condiments, napkins, and utensils are self-service.

Self-serve napkins, utensils, and condiments

This place can get packed with people, so a pro tip if you want to dine inside is to look up for extra seating in the balcony areas. You’ll also find phrases from the movie, character murals, and subtle touches that look like they came straight out of Geppetto’s shop.

Art on the walls

When you’re ready to place your order, you can either wait in line to order at the counter while viewing the menu above you (sometimes they have a menu to hand you while you’re waiting in line, too)…

… or place a mobile order through the app. For this visit, we opted to do that because we thought we’d get our food faster this way.

Menu

This restaurant is only open for lunch and dinner, so the menu here isn’t terribly extensive as they specialize in an array of flatbread pizzas for entrees…

Order menu

… and a few extra sides like french fries, breadsticks, tomato basil soup, and cutie oranges to go along with your meal. The beverage options are fountain drinks, and a slushy option, along with a few others like tea, coffee, and milk for the kids.

After a few minutes of waiting, our order was ready and we were off to find a place to sit and eat!

Drinks

For this meal, we opted for the Blue Raspberry Slushy, which cost us $5.99. It’s made just like it sounds with a blue raspberry flavor.

Blue Raspberry Slushy

We found it to be more sweet than it was tart which really surprised us. This one really reminded us of the blue raspberry flavoring you would find in a shaved ice treat (which we think your kiddos will love)!

You can eat it like this too!

It was definitely appreciated on a hotter spring day, and we’re glad that we opted to eat indoors. Otherwise, this would have melted faster had we been outside in the heat.

Eats

Stay with us, because we ordered quite a bit of food this round. We opted for the classic Pepperoni Flatbread, All-Meat Flatbread, our friend the Blue Raspberry Slushy you already met, a side of Tomato Basil Soup, and a single dessert in the Key Lime Pie Tart.

Full Spread

Of course, as always we’re going to take this meal on piece by piece so let’s start things off with a classic. The ever-popular Pepperoni Flatbread cost us $12.79. It’s made of flatbread pizza topped with pepperoni, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese.

Pepperoni Flatbread

It smells divine when it’s put on your tray, and you can barely see any pockets of grease sitting on top of it. The flatbread comes pre-scored into sections for you — making it easy to tear away pieces when you’re ready for them. This “feature” and its larger size also make it a popular sharable option (especially when you plan to pair it with a side like a soup or salad).

A slice of pepperoni

When you bite into the slice, it’s a true flatbread pizza that will have minimal sauce, great cheesy mozzarella flavor at the top, and the pepperoni is very mild (there’s also a kid’s meal version of pepperoni so that could be why they opt for a less spicy pepperoni flavor). Is it pretty basic? Sure. But it’s a decent option.

We turned our attention toward the All-Meat Flatbread next. This one is a flatbread pizza topped with sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon, tomato sauce and mozzarella for $12.79.

All-meat flatbread

The portion size here and the pre-scoring of the slices are all the same as the Pepperoni Flatbread however, we would argue here that for the price, it’s the better “value” of pizza — you’re getting way more toppings and flavors to really appeal to your rumbly tummy in this one.

A slice of all-meat

All of the meats work together harmoniously — nothing is overpowering. While you can pick out each of the individual flavors of sausage and bacon more easily, you may find yourself searching for more of the salty ham tidbits. While that could be a bother to you if the ham is your favorite, we certainly wouldn’t call that a dealbreaker. This is arguably one of the most flavor-packed menu items offered here and didn’t disappoint us.

Then it was time to try out our side of Tomato Basil Soup, which cost us $3.99. It’s served in a paper cup, and we were pleased with the amount that was scooped into it — it was almost full.

Tomato Basil Soup

This side was the highlight of our meal. Usually, when we think of tomato soup we think of something with an acidic taste and thin consistency, but this soup mimicked more of a bisque. It’s also got some chunks of cooked tomatoes in it and has more of a blended consistency rather than just a straight can of soup feel.

So creamy

This one was so tasty! While you’ll certainly taste the tomato at the forefront, it’s the subtle hints of basil throughout that will keep you scooping. We would highly recommend using it as a dip with the breadsticks if you’re feeling adventurous!

We hope you saved room for dessert because we certainly had to! For this meal, we tried out the Key Lime Pie Tart, which cost us $5.49. It’s a simple key lime tart with sweet whipped cream on top.

Key Lime Pie Tart

This was so creamy and bright! When you take a bite of this tart your mouth will pucker a little with the flavor because it is very commanding.

Inside the treat

It’s definitely more on the sour side of the key lime pie than on the sweet, but the sweet whipped cream adds some sweetness to balance the tart.

Just a bite!

The whipped cream is soft and sweet and adds a bit of creamy texture to the decadent tart. Overall, we were big fans of this one, but if you are looking for a very sweet dessert, this isn’t it.

Overall

Overall we had a decent meal here that will serve you well when you’re in a time crunch and looking for something that will satisfy most everyone.

Our table

While the menu here isn’t terribly extensive, it cuts down on being overwhelmed with choices when deciding on what you’d like to order, and the quality of the food here is more than decent (you’ll just want to eat your meal while it’s warm and not wait too long).

Nosh Or Not?

Step right into Pinocchio Village Haus if…

  • You’re looking for something quick that will satisfy all. While the menu here isn’t terribly lengthy, we find it hard to turn down a decent flatbread pizza, especially at Disney World.
  • You’re looking for somewhere to dine indoors. Our only caveat here though is this place tends to get busy and stay that way, so if you want to dine inside, grab your food in off-peak times for the best chance at dining in.
  • You’re looking for something that will fill your tummy up for a while. Yep, we’re back at pizza but the adult portions are decent size and they have a few other extras adults will enjoy like breadsticks and the tomato basil soup.

We’d suggest finding another place to grub if…

  • You’re just not that into pizza. If you’re not a big pizza fan (especially flatbread style), you’ll probably have a hard time making a whole meal here unless you’re good with salad, soup, and breadsticks.
  • You’re looking for a place to eat with characters. While this restaurant is in Fantasyland and the inside is themed with Pinocchio characters on the walls, there aren’t any characters that will come by the tables and visit you here.
  • You prefer to eat somewhere quieter and less busy. This one is a bit tricky, because really you could be busy in most places you’re eating at Magic Kingdom depending on the time. BUT this place is usually packed with people looking to grab a bite to eat and stays that way most of the day. If you’re not a fan of hunting down a seat after you’ve grabbed your food from the counter, you’ll probably want to try a table service meal instead.

We’ve literally eaten EVERYWHERE across Disney World! Be sure to check out a few of our favorite reviews below and stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for even more!
