Every Ride That Will Use a Virtual Queue in Disney World in 2024

We are only a few days away from the New Year! Disney’s new park pass reservation rules will be in effect on January 9th, 2024, and with that is coming a slight change to virtual queues.

Now that people with date-based tickets will NOT need to make a park reservation, they will be able to book a virtual queue for any ride with one in either park (Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, currently) at the 7AM drop. Currently, TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT are the only two rides with virtual queues. But will they be sticking around and could we see others join the lineup? Here are our thoughts.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

We’re going to start with the very popular ride in EPCOT. This new ride opened in 2022 and has continued to have a virtual queue since then. And truthfully, we don’t see that going away any time soon.

This super cool roller-coaster has continued to be a hot ticket item (and for good reason). With as popular as it is and the fact that there are currently no new rides slotted to open in EPCOT, we’re guessing we’ll be seeing the virtual queue stick around in 2024 for our trusty heroes.

However, the ride is going on 2 years old, so perhaps the virtual queue could go away similar to how Rise of the Resistance‘s did after a few years.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

TRON just opened this year, in 2023, but we have a feeling that the virtual queue for this ride may be going away sometime in 2024.

We wonder if Disney gave us a little hint about the virtual queue going away when they announced that it will be removed during the upcoming After Hours events in 2024. During the events in Magic Kingdom, you won’t have to snag a boarding group, you can just enter the standby line. Perhaps this will be a test run to see how it would go if they removed it.

We also have a feeling it could go away when a highly anticipated new ride coming to Magic Kingdom opens in 2024. Up to this point, we’ve only seen one ride per park with a virtual queue. So perhaps if the new ride gets a virtual queue, then the TRON standby line will be used instead. It is a much newer ride than Guardian’s but this just seems to make sense with a new attraction slotted to open in 2024.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is the new, highly anticipated ride coming to Magic Kingdom in 2024. Since we are all so curious about the ride that is replacing a classic and favorite ride, we’re guessing Disney expecting it to be very busy. This makes us believe it is a very good candidate to get a virtual queue.

If Tiana’s Bayou Adventure gets a virtual queue, like we’re expecting it to, then we’re guessing that TRON’s will go away. But we will have to just wait a few more months to officially find out!
