Disney World is our happy place.

It’s fun, magical, and all things good — in most cases. However, making sure that things stay fun, magical, and good requires a bit of WORK. Yes, that means that sometimes, we have to do some no-fun things for the greater good. Sigh. It’s hard being a Disney adult. There are a few terrible, horrible things that we totally recommend in Disney World in 2024 to ensure that you have the BEST time possible.

Before we begin, let us clarify that you can still have an awesome time at Disney World without doing any of these things at all. Without further ado, let’s jump right into the terrible things we recommend doing at Disney World in 2024!

Waking up early to ensure you snag a virtual queue.

Visiting Disney World is TIRING. This means it might be harder than usual to wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. However, we totally recommend making sure that you’re up before 7AM each day to snag a virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or TRON: Lightcycle/Run.

After January 9th, if you don’t get one of them, you can try again for the other, and just decide based on that which park to visit.

Spending a pretty penny on Genie+.

Disney World’s skip-the-line service, Genie+, operates based on surge pricing. This means that the service could be as expensive as Disney deems fit — based on crowd predictions and demand.

Although it’s pricey, and has even reached $39 per person during the holiday season, we recommend it in many scenarios. It’s often the only way to experience everything Disney World has to offer if you’re visiting for less than four full days.

Visiting the parks in the rain.

Rain comes often at Disney World, especially in the summer and fall. The almost-daily rain showers drive a lot of folks out of the parks for a while so that they can stay dry.

That makes the rainy hours the BEST times to visit indoor rides! While the outdoor rides will often close, the indoor rides are often still operating — with shorter lines because everyone else headed back to the hotel.

Splurging on a fireworks cruise.

Fireworks cruises are a great way to experience the fireworks at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT in a new way! You can book private cruises where a Cast Member will take you and your crew on a boat where you can watch the fireworks alone.

Plus, the cruise usually involves some special snacks and drinks! It’s a bit pricy, but a GREAT experience.

Plastic cheese.

Listen, don’t knock the orange sludge on all your food until you try it, okay?
